Wagner chief moving to Belarus after Lukashenko-brokered deal to halt march on Moscow
|
|
Wagner chief Veygeny Prigozhin is moving to Belarus under a deal brokered by President Alexander Lukashenko to halt the mercenary group’s march on Moscow, according to an announcement from the Kremlin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Lukashenko had offered to mediate, with an agreement from Russian President Vladimir Putin, because he had known Prigozhin personally for around 20 years.
The announcement came after Prigozhin said he had ordered Wagner troops to turn around, defusing a dramatically escalating crisis.
Early Saturday, Wagner troops appeared to control the military headquarters in Rostov-on-Don, a city 660 miles south of Moscow that runs Russian operations in Ukraine. Wagner troops and equipment also were in Lipetsk province, about 360 kilometers south of Moscow...
Later Saturday, Prigozhin announced that while his men were just 120 miles from Moscow, he decided to turn them back to avoid "shedding Russian blood." (Fox News) Read more.

The top military officer in the United States canceled a trip to the Middle East on Saturday as the crisis in Russia intensified, a spokesman said.
Army General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had been due to travel to Israel and Jordan. That trip was postponed “due to the situation in Russia,” a spokesman for the Joint Chiefs told AFP.
Jake Sullivan, US President Joe Biden’s national security advisor, also canceled a trip Saturday, instead accompanying the president to Camp David. Sullivan had been scheduled to attend a conference on Ukraine in Denmark. (Times of Israel) Read more

Attorney general denies whistleblower claims of interference in Hunter Biden investigation
|
|
Attorney General Merrick Garland pushed back Friday against claims from IRS whistleblowers that the Justice Department interfered with the investigation into Hunter Biden, saying more broadly that attacks on the department’s independence are corrosive.
The Republican-led House Ways and Means Committee on Thursday released a transcript of testimony from Gary Shapley, an IRS official who, among other things, claimed that Garland had denied a request from U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware to be appointed special counsel. That designation would have would have given Weiss the same status as the prosecutor leading the investigation into former President Donald Trump.
Weiss never made such a request, Garland said Friday, and always had full authority to file charges wherever and however he saw fit against President Joe Biden's son. And Garland added that if Weiss — first appointed U.S. Attorney by Donald Trump — agrees to testify before Congress, the Justice Department will not stand in the way.
“He was given complete authority to make all decisions on his own,” Garland said. “I don’t know how it would be possible for anybody to block him for bringing a prosecution given that he has that authority.” (AP) Read more |

1. Israel set to resume judicial reform legislation on Sunday - Jerusalem Post
The Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee will resume legislation connected to the government's controversial judicial reform on Sunday, after legislation was frozen for nearly three months as negotiations were held between representatives of the entire coalition and the opposition parties Yesh Atid and National Unity at the President's Residence in Jerusalem.
The committee, led by chairman MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionist Party), is scheduled to hold discussions on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday this week. It was initially scheduled to begin discussions on Wednesday, but delayed them due to the killing of four Israeli citizens in a terror attack in Eli the day before.
The discussions will focus on an amendment to the Basic Law: The Judiciary, according to which Israel's courts will no longer be able to block executive decisions based on their "extreme unreasonableness." (Read more)

2. Justice Minister Levin planning ‘putsch’ to force Netanyahu to back full judicial reform plan, say senior Likud officials - World Israel News
Justice Minister Yariv Levin (Likud), one of the two architects of the Israeli government’s judicial reform plan, is reportedly working with right-wing allies in the coalition to force Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pass the entire overhaul package.
On Sunday, the Knesset put the ‘Deri Law’ back on the agenda – marking the first time legislation from the judicial overhaul has been considered in the Knesset since Netanyahu froze the reform in late March following massive nationwide protests.
After negotiations with Opposition lawmakers for a compromise hit an impasse amid a dispute over the selection of the Knesset’s representatives for the powerful judicial appointments committee, Netanyahu vowed last week to move forward with two bills: the ‘Deri Law,’ and the ‘Legal Advisors Law.’
The two bills are considered to be minor parts of the judicial reform plan, with Opposition leaders signaling during talks that they would accept the two proposals as part of a toned-down overhaul. (Read more)

3. On Shabbat: Shooting attack near Jerusalem - Israel National News
A terrorist on Friday night opened fire towards Israeli security forces at the Qalandiya Crossing, injuring two people.
A civilian security guard who was at the scene suffered light injuries and was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center for treatment. The forces returned fire and eliminated the terrorist, whose death was declared at the scene.
Security forces found and confiscated the M-16 which the terrorist used to carry out the attack, along with several magazines which he had used. Jerusalem District police commander Doron Turgeman held a situational assessment and said, "The identification of the terrorist who opened fire was immediate, and the forces at the crossing acted in a precise and professional fashion until the completion of the necessary action in order to neutralize the terrorist. The forces who acted at the checkpoint completed this event properly, as is expected of them." (Read more)

4. IDF Arrests Suspect in Torching of Palestinian Homes - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israeli settlers torched two houses in the Palestinian village Umm Safa near Ramallah in the West Bank, the Israeli military said on Saturday. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said one Israeli suspect had been arrested, adding that Israeli security forces used anti-riot measures to break up Palestinian stone throwing that erupted at the village.
Violence surged this week in the West Bank, where for over a year the military has conducted regular sweeps targeting Palestinian terrorists amid a spate of deadly Palestinian attacks on Israelis.
The past few days saw deadly clashes in the city of Jenin; a Palestinian terrorist massacre at a gas station where four Israelis lost their lives; attacks on Palestinian villages by settlers and a rare Israeli air strike in the West Bank targeting jihadist terrorists. (Read more)

5. Israeli officials reportedly blocked from Saudi-hosted Paris event despite invite - Times of Israel
Israeli diplomats were not permitted to enter an event hosted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Paris this week despite having been invited, it was reported Friday.
According to the Walla news site, the two Israeli officials had been invited to the reception held by Riyadh in the French capital as part of its major push to host the 2030 World Fair’s Expo.
The report suggested that the rescinding of the invitation could be a response by Riyadh to the hardline Israeli government’s policy in the West Bank and the recent escalation in violence. (Read more)

1. ‘Dereliction of Duty’: Record Number of Illegals on Terror Watch List Entered U.S. in May – Washington Stand
U.S. agents reported a record-breaking number of people on the terrorist watchlist crossing the uncontrolled southern border last month, thanks to policies that Republicans say are “emboldening terrorists,” constitute a “dereliction of duty,” and constitute impeachable offenses. All the while, the Biden administration considers the border closed and under control.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that Border Patrol agents encountered 29 people on the terrorist watchlist in May at the southern border, the most in U.S. history — and a total of 127 non-U.S. citizens at the border since last October. Altogether, agents encountered a total of 464 people illegally entering the U.S. whose names are on the Terrorist Screening Dataset (TSDS), which includes known or suspected terrorists and their associates, during this fiscal year which began in October.
“Biden’s open border policies are emboldening terrorists to infiltrate the U.S,” said Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).(Read more)

2. Senate Report: Biden Business Received $5.1M Within 10 Days of Hunter Biden’s WhatsApp Text While ‘Sitting’ Next to Dad – Breitbart
The 2020 Senate report on the Biden family business revealed Hunter Biden-linked bank accounts received $5.1 million in payments from a Chinese business partner, Henry Zhao, within ten days of just-revealed texts in which he demands payment using proximity to his father as a cudgel.
Henry Zhao, influential in forming a Chinese investment fund, had deep ties to Chinese intelligence, according to Breitbart News senior contributor and Government Accountability Institute president Peter Schweizer.
In 2017, Henry Zhao worked with Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC Energy — also linked to Chinese military intelligence. (Read more)

3. EXCLUSIVE: House Republicans Press NYC Ed Department About Allegedly Sending Unvaxxed Teachers’ Personal Info To FBI – Daily Caller
A group of House Republicans sent a letter Friday to the New York City Department of Education calling for more information about the NYC DOE allegedly sending the fingerprints of unvaccinated teachers to the FBI.
The Daily Caller first obtained the letter, which was spearheaded by Republican New York Rep. Nick Langworthy and signed by fellow Empire State GOP Reps. Nick LaLota, Mike Lawler, Anthony D’Esposito, Elise Stefanik, Claudia Tenney and Andrew Garbarino. In the letter, the lawmakers mention the NYC DOE’s practice of reportedly assigning “Problem Codes” to the records of teachers who decided not to receive COVID-19 vaccinations. Many teachers who were fired for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine for religious reasons have reportedly struggled to get rehired due the problem codes they were assigned.
“As you know, The Problem Code in question serves disciplinary purposes, and whether the codes are permanent or temporary is irrelevant. Shockingly, the same Problem Code used to flag unvaccinated teachers is also utilized for individuals accused of molesting, raping, or harming a child. As a result, these codes have a profoundly negative impact on the flagged educators and can hinder their future employment prospects,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter. (Read more)

4. EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Steel, Senators Introduce Bipartisan Legislation To Secure Medical Supply Chains – Daily Caller
Republican California Rep. Michelle Steel and Democratic Illinois Rep. Brad Schneider introduced legislation Thursday that aims to make the U.S. less reliant on the Chinese Communist Party by empowering the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to negotiate trade agreements for medical goods and services with key allies and improve supply chains.
The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the legislation, which aims to secure Americans’ access to necessary medical supplies and reduce dependence on the Chinese Communist Party. During the pandemic, China cut off the U.S. supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical equipment.
The bill also gives the USTR the power to negotiate Trusted Trade Partner Agreements. “These modern agreements will reduce or eliminate tariffs, quotas, and other barriers to enhance manufacturing in the United States and with trusted allies,” the lawmakers said.

5. Far-Left Teachers Union Boss Randi Weingarten To Join Council To Advise Homeland Security – Daily Wire
Teachers union boss Randi Weingarten will be joining the Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council, according to a statement from DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Weingarten is the president of the American Federation of Teachers, a group that backed strict school shutdowns during the COVID pandemic and overwhelmingly backs Democrat candidates for office. The academic council, made up of 30 individuals, serves an advisory role to DHS on things like school safety and research priorities.
“Leaders of our academic institutions and campus life have a great deal to offer in helping us counter the evolving and emerging threats to the homeland,” Mayorkas said in a statement. “The Homeland Security Academic Partnership Council’s insights into strategic research, innovation, career development, and partnership opportunities for the Department will support our mission to safeguard the American people, and help our country think through and prepare for whatever threats lie ahead.” (Read more)

Data collected by faith-based organization Barna Group as part of its Resilient Pastor research showed a significant decrease in pastors' spiritual, mental and emotional well-being, as well as their overall quality of life, between 2015 and 2022, the group announced last week.
The study conducted 901 online interviews with Protestant senior pastors in 2015 and compared the results with those they compiled based on 585 interviews with pastors from Sept. 6 to Sept. 16, 2022. The interviews asked pastors to rate aspects of their lives on a scale of excellent, good, average, below average, poor or don’t know.
Pastors who reported that their mental and emotional health was below average spiked from 3% in 2015 to 10% in 2022, and those who said they were in excellent mental and emotional health cratered from 39% in 2015 to 11% last year. (Read more)

7. Members of Congress want answers on hospice fraud and abuse – Just The News
In a June 21 letter to Inspector General Christi A. Grimm, five Members of Congress requested a briefing with the Office of the Inspector General to become apprised as to how widespread reports of fraud and abuse at Medicare Certified Hospices were, and what was being done about such illegal activity.
“Unfortunately, a surge of newly certified hospices have been engaged in unlawful, unethical practices, resulting in alarming reports of fraud and abuse that threaten both patient safety and fiscal responsibility,” the letter by Representatives Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., Mike Carey, R-Ohio, Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, Michelle Steel, R-Calif., Darin LaHood, R-Ill. and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Penn., said.
A November 2022 article by ProPublica highlighted the pressures put on hospice personnel to find and recruit increasing numbers of patients into hospice care, even when statistics for those quotas did not square with the request. It also illuminated strategies devised by hospice operators to turn a profit even when patients weren’t terminal and spent long periods in hospice care. (Read more)

8. Georgia won't update Dominion voting machines before 2024, despite cybersecurity expert warnings – Just The News
Georgia is delaying a software update for its Dominion voting machines until after the 2024 presidential election, despite cybersecurity experts warning of vulnerabilities.
A nearly 2-year-old report was finally made public last week and showed Dominion voting machines had significant vulnerabilities, which led the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to issue a public advisory last year based on the findings.
However, Georgia election officials say that the machines won’t be updated until after the 2024 elections because it's such a massive undertaking.
The report was completed in July 2021 by University of Michigan Professor of Computer Science and Engineering J. Alex Halderman with Professor Drew Springall, of Auburn University, and focused in part on vulnerabilities they found after examining Dominion’s ImageCast X Ballot Marking Devices for three months.
A redacted copy of the report was released June 14 by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division. (Read more)

Nearest supermassive black hole awakens from dormancy, becomes a million times brighter: Scientists

In a remarkable revelation, scientists have observed that our closest supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*, has emerged from a prolonged state of dormancy and intensified its luminosity by a factor of a million.
Situated at the core of the Milky Way, this black hole is approximately four million times more massive than the Sun. Previously considered quiescent, it suddenly displayed heightened activity around 200 years ago, devouring cosmic objects that ventured too close, reported the Independent.
The resulting surge in brightness occurred rapidly, analogous to a hidden glow-worm in a forest instantly radiating sunlight, according to researchers. 100 parents protest city's Pride event in Idaho
|
|
In Rexburg, Idaho, over 100 local Idaho MassResistance parents came and protested at the June 10 “Pride Day” event, which was held in the main city park next to a popular playground. The main objection was using a public venue to expose children to the deviance – particularly Drag Queens – that this event has brought in the past. Earlier that week, more than 80 MassResistance parents had flooded into the recent City Council meeting to demand that the permit for the event be revoked and that a strong ordinance prohibiting lewd public acts be passed. But the RINO City Council refused to even bring it up for discussion. There were also hundreds of anti-Drag Queen yard signs across the city to voice that demand. The event organizers reacted to that outrage by moving the scheduled “Drag Queen” performances to a private location in the evening and excluding minors from it, which was a win for MassResistance.
Over 100 local MassResistance folks came to say "No" to this invasion of the community. According to the local Idaho MassResistance people, this was a big win! It got the Drag Queen performances away from kids and raised awareness across town like never before. The politicians and others got a very strong message – and that pressure will continue. All through June, “Pride Month” themes and events are being pushed as publicly as possible – and people are being intimidated from criticizing it. The goal is to force their anti-family LGBT agenda into a community’s social, moral, and religious civic culture. But local MassResistance families are pushing back.
