Highland Park shooting person of interest Robert Crimo captured after manhunt

|
The Highland Park July 4 parade suspected shooter remained at large hours after the attack Monday before he was arrested following a short car chase, police said.
|

A person of interest connected to an attack where six people were gunned and many others were injured during a shooting at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, a wealthy suburb of Chicago, has been captured following an hours-long manhunt.
Robert Crimo III, 22, was taken into police custody after a brief car chase, Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen said. A North Chicago police officer spotted the vehicle authorities alerted earlier in the day they believed might be driven by Crimo while he was on the run, Jogmen said.
The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but Crimo fled before he was stopped in Lake Forest, Jogmen said. He was expected to be questioned about his alleged role in the mass shooting, the chief said. (Fox News) Read more here.

6 Dead, Dozens Injured In July 4th Parade
|
|
A suspect was taken into custody in connection with a Fourth of July parade shooting which left six people dead and dozens more injured. On Monday, the Highland Park Police Department announced that officers arrested Bobby Crimo III after a brief pursuit on a local highway.
“On a day that we came together to celebrate community and freedom we are instead mourning a tragic loss of life and struggling with the terror that was brought upon us,” voiced Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering.
Police said the gunman opened fire from the roof top of a high-rise building just as the parade kicked off on Monday morning in downtown Highland Park, north of Chicago.
“People started saying ‘There’s a shooter, there’s a shooter, there’s a shooter,’” resident Debbie Glickman said. “So we just ran. We just ran. It’s like mass chaos down there.”
Crimo previously recorded rap songs with lyrics and visual imagery highly suggestive of mental instability and violent tendencies. (One American News) Read more here.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Authors Bill to Designate Radical Abortion Groups as Domestic Terrorists, Citing a Long List of Recent Attacks.

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is stepping up where establishment Republicans have failed for years.
Seen first by The National Pulse, the bill is believed to count Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) and Andy Harris (R-MD) as cosponsors, and states: “This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Protecting Mothers and Babies from Terrorism Act.”
A spokesman for the Congresswoman told The National Pulse: “The Democrats’ war on women is real and it is now being waged with firebombs. I am proud to introduce this legislation to hold these groups accountable for their crimes.”

In a first televised statement as prime minister, Yair Lapid thanks his predecessor Naftali Bennett for the “orderly transition of power.”
“I want to start by thanking the 13th Prime Minister of the State of Israel, Naftali Bennett. For your decency, for your friendship and for leading the government this past year to economic and security achievements not seen here for years,” he says, adding “a special thank you for allowing the citizens of Israel to see this week an orderly transition between people who keep agreements and believe in one another.”
This is a jab at opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who broke a power rotation agreement with Benny Gantz in 2020.
Lapid sets out what he says should be Israelis’ shared goal: “a Jewish, democratic, liberal, strong, advanced, and prosperous Israel.” (Read more)

Israel will defend itself and its assets, Prime Minister Yair Lapid warned on Sunday, a day after the Israel Air Force thwarted an attempted attack by Hezbollah on a gas rig in Israeli waters.
“The IDF shot down three hostile UAVs yesterday that tried to damage Israeli infrastructure in Israeli economic waters,” Lapid said at the start of his inaugural cabinet meeting as prime minister. (Read more)

3. UN agency suspends just 6 of 120 employees accused of calling to murder Jews - World Israel News
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the UN agency that runs schools in the Palestinian Authority (PA) and in Arab countries around Israel, announced to donor states that it has placed six employees on administrative leave after a report by UN Watch exposed 120 UNRWA teachers who publicly called to murder Jews.
“Teachers who call to murder Jews must be barred from the classroom for life, while these temporary suspensions are just a slap on the wrist,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, an independent non-governmental organization based in Geneva.
“UNRWA is trying to pretend the problem is now gone, while at the same time signaling to Palestinian staff—and to terrorist organizations like Islamic Jihad which pressed UNRWA to reject the UN Watch report—that they don’t really object to the virulent antisemitism of their teachers, which UNRWA and its donors know pervades the agency,” said Neuer. 4. Bayer to Establish Cybersecurity Hub in Israel - Algemeiner
JNS.org – Pharma giant Bayer has announced plans to establish a cybersecurity hub in Israel, which will be integrated into Bayer’s global cyber unit and will be one of the largest internal units of this kind in the company.
A delegation of top Bayer executives arrived in Israel on June 26 for a three-day visit, meeting with Economy and Industry Ministry Director-General Ron Malka to discuss the German company’s plans to deep-dive into the Israeli market.
The delegation included, among others, Bijoy Sagar, Bayer’s chief information technology and digital transformation officer, and Gary Harbison, head of cybersecurity and risk management, who were the driving force behind the move. The two also spoke at the main plenary of Cyber Week 2022, the annual international cybersecurity expo hosted by Tel Aviv University. (Read more)

5. Hamas restoring ties with Syria ‘source of concern’ for Israel - JNS
(June 30, 2022 / JNS) Reports that appeared in recent days stating that Hamas and Syria have re-established relations after a decade of rupture between them represent a source of concern for Israel, a senior terrorism research has said.
According to a report by Reuters, “Hamas has decided to restore ties with Syria 10 years after its leadership shunned Damascus over opposition to President Bashar Assad’s crackdown on a revolt against his rule,” and cited two Hamas members.
“One official who asked not named said the two sides have held several ‘high-profile meetings to achieve that goal,’ ” stated the report.
Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, had to vacate its Damascus headquarters in 2012 after it came down on the side of Sunni rebels who were fighting to topple the minority Alawite Assad regime from power that year. Palestinian Islamic Jihad—the second-largest armed terror faction in Gaza—has remained in Damascus. (Read more)

1. . Democrats Are Running A Risky Midterm Gambit And Hoping To Heck It Doesn’t Backfire | The Daily Caller
Democrat organizations are pouring money into Republican primary races, backing the most radical of right-wing candidates. So far, Democrats have spent more than $20 million in advertising for Republican candidates, particularly those farthest to the right.
Democrats are hoping they can win more easily if their candidates are running against a more Trump-supporting, far-right candidate, rather than a moderate one.
The strategy is a risky one, and so far, has yielded mixed results. After a series of primary elections in June, only one of the three far-right candidates Democrats threw money behind won their primary.
Republican Illinois state Sen. Darren Bailey won his primary, becoming the Republican nominee for the Illinois governor election. The Democrat Governor’s Association spent over $15 million running ads portraying Bailey as extremely conservative during the primary race. The ads highlighted Bailey’s anti-gun control stance, pro-life views, and former President Donald Trump’s endorsement. The purpose of the ads was to increase Bailey’s support in the primary. But DGA funded ads against Bailey’s opponent, Richard Irvin, accused him of, “getting rich while putting violent criminals back on our streets,” while he was a defense attorney.
- Lord, this Democrat plan is downright evil. We bind up this deception and ask Your Holy Spirit to cause the plans to fail entirely. We ask for truth to be present across the nation during the elections, and that all false candidates will drop out of the races. Let only Your choices and righteousness prevail.

2. Biden Admin Fails To Secure The Release Of American Hostages In Venezuela | The Daily Caller
A U.S. delegation returned Thursday having failed to secure the release of five Americans Venezuela’s socialist regime is holding hostage, Reuters reported.
Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs Roger Carstens and Ambassador Jimmy Story traveled to Caracas to discuss the status of at least eight Americans held captive in inhumane conditions, Reuters reported. The hostages include five of six former executives who worked for the U.S. branch of Venezuela’s state-run oil company, PDVSA, and were arrested four years ago on corruption charges, according to CNN.

3. Democratic Rep Cast Most Of His Votes By ‘Proxy’ While Spending Tens Of Thousands On Travel And Events | The Daily Caller
Democratic Illinois Rep. Bobby Rush has overwhelmingly voted by “proxy” since the practice was first authorized in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, however, Rush has spent thousands in travel and event expenses on the dime of taxpayers and donors, including on days he voted by proxy, Federal Election Commission (FEC) and House disbursement records show.
In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the House approved an emergency health policy allowing members to vote remotely — called “proxy” voting — as “a necessary and immediately feasible low-tech option” for those who cannot be physically present in the chamber. Since the policy was implemented in May 2020, Rush has spent close to $61,000 on travel and events, a Daily Caller News Foundation review of records found.

4. Maryland, Virginia govs respond to letter from Supreme Court marshal calling on them to protect justices | Fox News
The Republican governors of Virginia and Maryland have responded to a letter from the Supreme Court's top-ranking security official calling on them to utilize police and law enforcement to prevent picketing at the homes of justices.
"The governor agrees with the Marshal that the threatening activity outside the Justices' homes has increased," Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin spokesperson Christian Martinez said in response to a letter from Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley calling on the governor to "enforce state law" that prohibits picketing outside the homes of the justices.
"He welcomes the Marshal of the Supreme Court's request for Fairfax County to enforce state law as they are the primary enforcement authority for the state statute," the statement added.
Youngkin also called on Attorney General Merrick Garland to "do his job" by "enforcing the much more robust federal law."
- Lord, this administration appears to think that disobeying the law is fine. The damage being done to the legal system is vast, so we pray in Jesus’ Mighty Name that You will convict the DOJ of their sin and cause them to fight to protect the Supreme court justices from harm.

5. DHS Issues July 4th Warning as Roe v. Wade Reversal Has ‘Heightened’ Threat Environment (theepochtimes.com)
The head of the Department of Homeland Security announced Sunday that there is a “heightened threat environment” in the aftermath of recent Supreme Court decisions that were handed down.
“We have seen a heightened threat environment … over the last several months over a number of different volatile issues that galvanize people on different sides of each issue,” Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told CBS News on Sunday. “We in the Department of Homeland Security become involved when there’s a connectivity between the- the opposition to a particular view or an ideology of hate, a false narrative, and violence.”
His department is “very mindful that the Supreme Court’s decision in reversing and overturning Roe v. Wade has really heightened the threat environment and we have deployed resources to ensure the safety and security of the Supreme Court and the justices,” Mayorkas added. “We do not condone violence and law enforcement will and has responded to acts of violence when people do not honor their freedom to protest peacefully, but instead violate the laws of our country and the states within it.”
- Lord, Mayorkas has missed the point entirely regarding the Justices- it is actually illegal to protest at all at their homes, peaceful or not. This administration’s view of “peaceful” has been extremely skewed by their viewpoints. We ask that You visit this man and bring Light and truth to his deceived mind.

6. This July 4th, House GOP pledges to honor our fundamental freedoms | Fox News
The United States of America is the greatest country in the history of the world. Republicans in the House of Representatives want to keep it that way.
This Fourth of July marks 246 years since the Founding Fathers declared three self-evident truths: that we are all created equal; that God has endowed us with unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and that government derives its powers from the consent of the governed. The founding generation fought to secure these principles and successive generations have bled to defend them.
As Americans celebrate Independence Day with parades and fireworks, we should recognize what makes our country special. America is great because of the founding ideals and fundamental freedoms first articulated in our Declaration of Independence and later guaranteed by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

8. Supreme Court Refuses to Hear Truckers’ Challenge to AB5, California’s Anti-Freelancing Law (theepochtimes.com)
The Supreme Court turned away a challenge to California’s “radical” worker-classification law that virtually outlaws independent contracting, including independent trucking, and clamps down on the so-called gig economy.
The ruling has the effect of ending a temporary stay preventing enforcement of the law, known as AB5, against motor carriers while the appeal to the Supreme Court was pending. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit previously denied the challenge to the law, finding the law was not preempted by the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act of 1994, which was created to prevent states from undermining federal deregulation of the trucking industry by imposing regulations of their own.
The law is deeply unpopular in California’s struggling business community.
According to JD Supra, a legal publication, the Supreme Court’s refusal to review the case will have “profound consequences for the transportation industry and supply chains in general. At a time when transportation resources and supply chains are already stressed, motor carriers, transportation intermediaries, and commercial shippers must all now adapt to the new landscape in California,” the publication wrote. Motor carriers must “evaluate and adopt alternative operating models to mitigate risk if they intend to continue to do business in California.”
- Lord, we can’t understand why this law was passed to undercut truckers who bring in produce for the Western United States. We ask for a way of respite for them- from high prices for diesel fuel to being banned in a huge market, they need Your help for everything. We ask for a move of Your Spirit to bring repentance and restoration.

8. House GOPers Demanding Answers on Why Grants Going to Boost Atheism Overseas (theepochtimes.com)
House Republican Study Committee (RSC) chairman Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) and 15 GOP colleagues are challenging the legality of State Department grants—of as much as $500,000 each—to international “organizations committed to the practice and spread of atheism and humanism.”
Their challenge is contained in a June 30 letter to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken concerning the department’s competitive grant process issued in April 2021 for “Promoting and Defending Religious Freedom Inclusive of Atheist, Humanist, Non-Practicing and Non-Affiliated Individuals” in South Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
“To be clear, atheism and ‘humanism’ are official belief systems.
“As an initial matter, therefore, we would like to know what other United States government programs supported with appropriated funds are being used either to encourage, inculcate, or to disparage any official belief system—atheist, humanist, Christian, Muslim, or otherwise,” Banks and the other signers told Blinken.
“It is one thing for the department to be tolerant and respectful of a wide range of belief systems, and to encourage governments to respect the religious freedom interests of their citizens. It is quite another for the United States government to work actively to empower atheists, humanists, non-practicing, and non-affiliated in public decision-making,” the signers continued.
“Any such program—for any religiously-identifiable group—in the United States would be unconstitutional.

9..GOP Rep. Gimenez on EPA, Remain in Mexico Rulings: We Need to Pass Laws in Congress, Enshrine Remain in Mexico (breitbart.com)
On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends First,” Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) reacted to the Supreme Court’s rulings on EPA authority and the Biden administration’s quest to Remain in Mexico policy by stating that Congress has given far too much power to the executive branch and unelected bureaucrats and “We need to enumerate exactly what we want on immigration” by making Remain in Mexico the law.
Gimenez stated, “Congress has not done a good job in establishing exactly what it wants and it gives way too much power and delegates way too much to the bureaucrats, the unelected bureaucrats. We need to take control back in Congress, and I think that that’s what this ruling kind of indicates, that…this is a congressional issue, the Congress did not give you that power and you just can’t assume that Congress gave you that power.”

10. .Buttigieg launches $1B pilot to build racial equity in roads - Breitbart
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday launched a $1 billion first-of-its-kind pilot program aimed at helping reconnect cities and neighborhoods racially segregated or divided by road projects, pledging wide-ranging help to dozens of communities despite the program’s limited dollars.
Under the Reconnecting Communities program, cities and states can now apply for the federal aid over five years to rectify harm caused by roadways that were built primarily through lower-income, Black communities after the 1950s creation of the interstate highway system.
New projects could include rapid bus transit lines to link disadvantaged neighborhoods to jobs; caps built on top of highways featuring green spaces, bike lanes and pedestrian walkways to allow for safe crossings over the roadways; repurposing former rail lines; and partial removal of highways.

11.SCOTUS to Hear Case That Could Give State Legislatures, Not Judges, Power to Regulate Elections (theepochtimes.com)
The Supreme Court decided on June 30 to hear an important new case that Republicans hope will re-empower state legislatures to make rules for redistricting and governing congressional and presidential elections.Republicans say the U.S. Constitution has always directly authorized state legislatures to make rules for the conduct of elections, including presidential elections. Democrats say this idea, encompassed by the Independent State Legislature Doctrine, is a fringe conservative legal theory that could endanger voting rights. The Supreme Court has reportedly never ruled on the doctrine.The doctrine, if endorsed by the high court, could allow state legislatures to select presidential electors in disputed elections, something critics decry as a threat to democracy.
- Lord, we pray that the Supreme Court will have Your wisdom on this matter, that our Constitution will be upheld, and that righteousness in elections will prevail.

12. House Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Ban IRS From Buying Ammunition (theepochtimes.com)
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) on Friday introduced a bill in the House to bar the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from acquiring ammunition.The bill (pdf), known as the “Disarm the IRS Act,” stipulates that the IRS is “prohibited from acquiring ammunition” and “notwithstanding any other provision of law.” Reps. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.), Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), and Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) are co-sponsors of the measure, according to his office.
It came after Gaetz, in interviews with Fox News and other outlets, expressed concern after he discovered that the IRS purchased more than $700,000 in ammunition in recent days. The congressman suggested that it’s part of a broader White House plan to disarm Americans.
“Here’s the Biden plan: Disarm Americans, open the border, empty the prisons–but rest assured, they’ll still collect your taxes, and they need $725,000 worth of ammunition, apparently, to get the job done,” he told Fox News last week.
The bill, he said, would put a “total moratorium on the IRS buying ammo. When we used to talk about the IRS being weaponized, we were talking about political discrimination, not actual weapons for the IRS.”
“Undeniably, part of the strategy is that with one hand, the Biden regime is doing everything they can to suppress access to ammunition for regular Americans, while with the other hand, they are scooping up all the ammo that they can possibly find,” Gaetz alleged.

As we approach the day of our Independence from Britain, it may be helpful to be reminded of the sufferance of the Founding Fathers and what was going through their minds as they decided to take on the most powerful political and military force on the planet. They said, “A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.” What happens when that “Prince” collectively becomes the Supreme Court, the Congress and the Executive Branch working in concert with one another toward a world order foreign and detrimental to the people they are charged with representing and to the Constitution they vowed to uphold? What are citizens to do?
The Declaration of Independence is a masterful document that served as the true “preamble” to our Constitution. Biden tweets demand for gas stations to 'bring down' prices, gets praised by Chinese state media

President Biden is telling companies that are "running gas stations" to "bring down" their prices because "this is a time of war and global peril."
"My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril," Biden tweeted on Saturday. "Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now."
His tweet also garnered support from Chinese state media, with Chen Weihua, China Daily EU Bureau Chief, responding that Biden "finally realized that capitalism is all about exploitation."
Biden's tweet comes as gas prices are averaging at $4.822 nationwide, which is up over 20 cents from just one month ago. (Fox Business) Read more here.

More than a dozen hikers missing in wake of
deadly Italy glacier collapse

A large piece of the Marmolada glacier in northeastern Italy broke off on Sunday afternoon, unleashing a torrent of snow, ice and rocks onto an unknown number of unsuspecting hikers below, some of whom were roped together during the dangerous climb. At least seven hikers were killed and more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for following the glacier collapse.
Nine people suffered injuries, most of which were a result of blunt force trauma to the chest and cranium, and were flown to hospitals, The Associated Press (AP) reported. Officials say that the chance of finding any more survivors is slim to none.
A local politician, Luca Zaia, compared the ice chunk that broke free to an apartment building with initial estimates of its size to be 656 feet (200 meters) wide and 262 feet (80 meters) high. The debris may have come hurtling down the slope at a breakneck speed of nearly 200 mph (320 km/h), experts say.
Authorities are attempting to identify the owners of 16 unclaimed vehicles in a parking lot at the base of the slope to determine whether these individuals are among the missing or have already been accounted for, according to The AP. Read More

The Founders Meant to Keep Government Out of the Church, Not God Out of the Government
|

Recent legal battles over churches' religious liberties in California and other states raise serious questions about the freedom to worship in America. So when our Founders came up with the First Amendment, were they trying to keep government free from religion? Or religion free from government? These days, the phrase "wall of separation between church and state" has come to mean keeping God or His believers from having a big effect on government and public life. But that’s far, far from what the Founding Fathers were thinking of when they were separating church and state. They were afraid of what so many of the Old World countries had: a religion established by the state as its one true religion, that would tyrannically rule over the faith and conscience of every citizen.
As the Providence Forum’s Peter Lillback put it, “They recognized having a monolithic church was a dangerous thing.” That's because it made the king not only their physical sovereign but also their all-powerful spiritual ruler. Before the Pilgrims fled England, Wallbuilders' David Barton recalled, “The Pilgrims’ pastor was executed because he made the statement that Jesus Christ is head of the church. And the monarch said, ‘oh no, I’m the head of the church. You’re dead.’ Knowing of such terror and tyranny, AmericanMinute.com historian William Federer explained how the Founders felt: "Their big fear was the federal government was going to follow the blueprint of every country in Europe and pick one national denomination."
Lillback said the Founders keeping government control away from faith meant, "Each of us has a right to be who we are before God. It has been well said and it's a classic statement of religious liberty that man is not free unless he is free on the inside. We have to have the freedom to believe what we believe. That's what the First Amendment protects." And that’s what Christian historian Eddie Hyatt explained Thomas Jefferson was talking about when he wrote the letter that first used the famous "wall of separation" phrase to a group of worried Baptists. "He said that the First Amendment had erected a wall of separation that would protect them from any intrusion of the government," Hyatt stated. "In Jefferson's mind, the wall of separation was a uni-directional wall, put there to keep the government out of the church; not to keep the influence of the church out of the government." There was no antipathy towards the Lord in all of this, Lillback insisted, saying, “But the idea of God: He’s on both sides of the wall. And He’s welcome there. And He should be.” (CBN) Read More
