Biden admin says climate change can ‘force’ military intervention

On Tuesday, President Joe Biden’s administration said climate change can “force” military invention after once again calling it a “national security issue.”
John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council, said during a press conference that climate change is a “driver of actual missions” because it creates “instability” and “insecurity.”
“It’s a driver of actual missions, because climate change creates instability, which creates insecurity in some places. And you can end up — the fighting in Syria started, really, as a result of a drought. And so, there’s — there’s a — it can actually drive military missions and force the military to become involved in places and at times where they wouldn’t have had to otherwise,” Kirby said.
Kirby said climate change impacts the U.S. military’s readiness “because our — our troops, our sailors, our Marines, our airmen, our Coast Guardsmen are being called out for — to respond to natural disasters, which are getting worse because of climate change.”
He also claimed that climate change can “affect our infrastructure,” adding that military bases like Norfolk Naval Base have invested “millions of dollars to try to improve their infrastructure because of rising sea levels.”
“So it has an impact on our infrastructure. It has an impact on our readiness, because you — and you’re seeing it now, even in the wildfires, where so many National Guardsmen are being called out,” Kirby said. “And — and God love them for that, but they’re — those are important tasks and missions, but it takes away from other tasks and missions when it comes to defending the United States.”
Kirby said President Biden believes climate change is a “very important issue for our own national security.” “And we’re going to — we’re going to treat it that way,” he concluded. (American Military News) Read more here.

|
Pope Francis departed Rome on Sunday for a week-long trip to Edmonton, Canada, where he's set to apologize for the Catholic Church's role in the abuse of Canadian Indigenous children in residential schools.
The Vatican has called the trip a "penitential pilgrimage," and the Pope will be welcomed in Edmonton on Sunday by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada.
While in the country he will meet with Indigenous groups and address the scandal of abuse and erasure of indigenous culture in the country's residential schools.
Indigenous leaders have long called for a papal apology for the harm inflicted for decades on Indigenous children. Last year, hundreds of unmarked graves were discovered on the grounds of former residential schools in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission has reported that more than 4,000 Indigenous children died either from neglect or abuse in residential schools, many of which were run by the Catholic Church.
In April, the Pope told Indigenous leaders at the Vatican that he feels "sorrow and shame for the role that a number of Catholics, particularly those with educational responsibilities, have had in all these things that wounded you, in the abuses you suffered and in the lack of respect shown for your identity, your culture and even your spiritual values." - O Holy One! We are rejoicing at the point of tears as we read this article today! Lord God, praise be to Your Holy Name! The atrocities that were visited upon these precious Native children, for DECADES, must be atoned for . . . as this policy was an act of true genocide of generations of people.
We do thank You that the Pope has taken the lead on this effort of repentance and reconciliation, but we have much, much more to do -- especially in our country. We bring before You the Apology to the Native Americans, now sponsored by Dr. Niegel Bigpond and by former Ambassador Sam Brownback, and we decree that it is now the SET TIME for our government to sign this document, thereby making our own amends to the Native Tribes on our land.
Thank You, dear Lord. Let this report be the whole new beginning of a move of healing, restoration, and renewal between the Native gatekeepers in America, and all who have since settled here. In Your Mighty Name, we offer this prayer, amen and amen!

PRESCOTT, Ariz.—One rally looked more like a catered banquet event on steroids, the other like a rock concert with all the hoopla of a religious revival meeting. One thing was sure: former President Donald Trump and his former Vice President Mike Pence were the stars at dueling rallies in the final days before the Arizona primary on Aug. 2.
“I’m a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican—in that order—and I’m here because Arizona—and America—needs Karrin Taylor Robson as the next governor of Arizona,” Pence said at an event for Robson held at the Tyr Tactical body armor manufacturer in Peoria, Arizona, on July 22.
About 50 miles north, more than 4,000 Trump supporters filled bleachers at the Finlay Toyota Center for a “Save America” rally featuring America’s 45th president in Prescott Valley. At about 9:10 p.m., Trump took the stage to a standing ovation and words of hope for America First Republicans in the 2022 mid-terms.
“We’re going to elect an amazing slate of America First Republicans up and down the ballot. And we are going to end crazy [U.S. House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi’s [tenure] once and for all,” Trump told the audience.
Trump said he blamed the Biden Administration for the current southern border crisis, skyrocketing gas prices, a faltering economy, and the restrictive legislation contained in the “Green New Deal.”
“I don’t want people to mention the word ‘depression’, but where we’re going now could be a very bad place,” Trump said. “Recession is a nice word—We’re going to have a much worse problem than recession, we’re going to have a depression.”
“Our country is like a different place. It’s so sad to see. But first, we have to win a historic victory for the Republican Party this November. 1. Israel gears up to fight, as Russia puts screws to Jewish Agency for unclear reasons - Times of Israel
After initially believing Russia’s moves against the Jewish Agency to be a relatively minor spat, Israeli officials now view them as the makings of a potentially major diplomatic rift, and the Jewish Agency is preparing accordingly, a senior official in the organization said Sunday.
Moscow’s reasons for attacking the quasi-governmental organization remain unclear, as Russian officials have yet to indicate what — if any — steps Israel could take that would prompt them to call off its threats to shutter the group, which is tasked with facilitating and encouraging Jewish immigration to Israel.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Yair Lapid warned Russia that closing the Jewish Agency there would negatively affect ties between the two countries. He has reportedly tasked the Foreign Ministry with drawing up specific courses of action that Israel could take, should Russia go through with its stated plans to shut down the organization’s operations, including recalling the Israeli ambassador to Moscow, more bellicose public statements against Russia, and stepping up Israeli support for Ukraine. 2. 'One-state idea’: Fatah-sponsored candidate to run in Jerusalem elections - World Israel News
Fatah activists and independent local politicians from eastern Jerusalem are expected to run an Arab candidate in the municipal elections in 2023 and have already begun collecting donations and trying to reach agreements on the identity of the head of the list.
A consultation took place between activists from the east of the city and at least one Arab Member of Knesset.
The activists, along with public figures and businessmen from eastern Jerusalem, have recently been holding consultations and meetings in offices and private homes on the question of participation in the next elections to the Jerusalem Municipality, and although many Fatah officials support the idea, the list will not be defined as the movement’s list. 3. Hezbollah: ‘We are close to defeating the Israelis by land and sea’ - JNS
(July 25, 2022 / JNS) Lebanon-based Hezbollah issued a fresh threat against Israel on Monday amid U.S.-mediated indirect negotiations between Jerusalem and Beirut aimed at resolving a longstanding maritime border dispute.
According to a report by Lebanese news site Naharnet, the head of Hezbollah’s executive council, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, stated: “We are close to defeating the Israelis by land and by sea if we want to, and we will decide when to do it.”
Speaking in the southern Lebanese town of Kfarkela, Safieddine qualified that while Hezbollah does not desire war with Israel, it is prepared for one.
“The more you put pressure on our country, the more our determination, strength and solidity will increase,” said Safieddine, according to the report. “We are ready on all fronts,” he added. (Read more)

4. Israel, Argentina sign agreement to share Holocaust archives - Israel Hayom
Argentina agreed to share archival records about Jews who fled the Holocaust to the country this week in a new agreement signed between the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center and the Archivo General de la Nación (General Archive of the Nation) in Buenos Aires.
In addition, the countries agreed to increase Holocaust-education programs in the Latin American country.
"Holocaust remembrance, education and research are the keys to fighting intolerance, hatred and anti-Semitism," said Yad Vashem chairman Dani Dayan, who signed the agreements on behalf of Israel. "Argentina took an additional step in the right direction to bringing meaningful and historically accurate knowledge about the Holocaust to its youth and future generations, as well as to allow for the expansion of our repositories of documentation of the events of this dark chapter of our not-so-distant past." 5. El Al to operate direct flights from Israel to Australia - via Saudi Arabia -Israel National News
El Al Director General Dina Ben Tal Ganancia on Monday said that the airline will operate direct flights from Israel to Australia.
In her statement, made at a tourism conference, Ben Tal Ganancia said that the flights were subject to the approval of their passage over Saudi Arabian airspace, which El Al hopes to receive. She also said that the flights would last around 15 hours, similar to El Al's flights to Los Angeles.
At the same time, El Al will renew its plans to operate direct flights to Tokyo - a plan which had been in place before the coronavirus pandemic, and which was buried after the pandemic broke out, Globes quoted her as saying..(Read more)

1. Federal Judge Blocks Biden Admin’s Guidance Allowing Biological Males In Girls’ School Bathrooms - The Daily Wire
A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Biden administration’s Title IX guidance on gender identity and sexual orientation.
U.S. District Judge Charles Atchley in the Eastern District of Tennessee ruled last week that the administration’s guidance misquoted the Supreme Court to equate sex and gender identity, likely violating federal law.
The administration’s guidance effectively forced states to allow biological males to use girls restrooms, forbade states from barring males from participating in female sports, and forced employers to use employees’ preferred pronouns, all at the risk of losing federal funding, according to the state attorneys general who sued the administration. The guidance was released last year by the Education Department and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
“As it currently stands, plaintiffs must choose between the threat of legal consequences — enforcement action, civil penalties, and the withholding of federal funding — or altering their state laws to ensure compliance with the guidance and avoid such adverse action,” Atchley, a Trump appointee, wrote in his preliminary injunction. 2. Maryland School’s Guidelines Claim Kids Have A ‘Right’ To Keep In-School Gender Identities Private - The Daily Caller
A Maryland public school district asserts kids have the “right” to keep their in-school gender identities private from parents, according to Montgomery County Public School’s “Guidelines for Student” Gender Identity.
The guidelines vow to “respect the right of students to keep their gender identity or transgender status private and confidential,” including parents who do not affirm the child’s perceived gender identity. When building a “Gender Support Plan,” educators are told to work with the student’s family only “if the family is supportive of the student” and their perceived identity, according to the district’s guidance.
Educators are told not to contact a student’s parent or guardian until they speak with the student to “ascertain the level of support the student either receives or anticipates receiving from home.”
“In some cases, transgender and gender nonconforming students may not openly express their gender identity at home because of safety concerns or lack of acceptance,” the guidance states. (Read more)

3. Biden Touts Northeast’s Climate Progress — They Now Face Energy Shortages Every Winter - The Daily Caller
President Joe Biden touted New England’s transition away from fossil fuel plants to renewable in his speech on Wednesday. However, the region routinely experiences energy shortages as renewable energy alternatives like offshore wind fail the grid during the region’s severe winters, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The president praised New England as a new hub of “clean energy construction” while criticizing the pollution of fossil fuels during his speech at Brayton Point, a decommissioned coal plant in Somerset, Massachusetts.”
“Today, Brayton is one of the frontiers — on the frontier of clean energy in America. On this site, they’ll manufacture 248 miles of high-tech, heavy-duty cables,” said Biden, referring to the specialized, subsea cables that tie offshore wind farms to electrical grids.
“The plant, like many others around the country, had another legacy: one of toxins, smog, greenhouse gas emissions, the kind of pollution that contributed to the climate emergency we now face today,” Biden said of the former coal plant.
However, New England’s grid is routinely taxed during the winter months when energy consumption is at its highest, thanks in large part to the region’s reliance on wind energy, experts told the DCNF. (Read more)

4. Ford To Lay Off Thousands To Bankroll ‘Green’ Transition: Report - The Daily Caller
Ford is moving to lay off thousands of workers in order to fund its electric vehicles (EVs) program that supports the Biden administration’s climate goals, according to Bloomberg.
The automaker is planning to lay off 8,000 of its employees to raise profits and pay for its ramp-up of EV production, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. Ford will spend roughly $50 billion, according to Reuters, to make 2 million EVs annually by 2026 after selling 27,140 in 2021.
“These ‘green’ energy boondoggles are throwing gasoline on the fire and are the last thing we need in a recession,” Heritage Foundation economist EJ Antoni told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

5. Ford To Lay Off Thousands To Bankroll ‘Green’ Transition: Report - The Daily Caller
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday signed a law that would allow private citizens to sue people who sell, manufacture or distribute assault weapons and guns made at home to avoid tracing.
The law is a swipe at a Texas law that allows individuals to sue anyone who helps a woman obtain an illegal abortion in the state.
Newsom, a Democrat who has been mentioned as a possible presidential contender, signed the legislation on the same day he released an ad in Texas criticizing the state's reproductive rights policies. (Read more)

6. House Democrats unanimously block resolution condemning attacks on churches, pregnancy centers - LifeSite
House Democrats refused to consider a resolution condemning the ongoing violence against churches and pregnancy centers across the country.
On Tuesday, Democrats unanimously voted to block House Resolution 1233, which called “upon the Biden Administration to use all appropriate law enforcement authorities to uphold public safety and to protect the rights of pro-life facilities, groups, and churches.”
“This has gotten out of hand,” Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana, who introduced the measure, said on the House floor. “Radical leftists were emboldened by the inaction of this body in the aftermath of the leaked opinion, and now they’ve targeted their violence against the very groups that care for women and their unborn children in their most vulnerable moments. 7. Pennsylvania State GOP Files Lawsuit to Throw Out Mail-in Voting Law - Epoch Times
Pennsylvania Republicans are arguing a 2019 law that largely expanded mail-in voting in the Commonwealth has been made invalid by a court ruling.
A group of 14 GOP lawmakers filed a lawsuit against the state’s Acting Secretary Leigh Chapman in the Commonwealth Court on July 20, seeking again to throw out Pennsylvania’s universal mail-in ballot law, Act 77.
It comes two months before the midterm elections this fall featuring high-profile races across the Keystone State.
The lawsuit claims that the mail-in voting law should be nullified under a federal appeals court’s May decision that had allowed election officials to count undated mail-in ballots. The panel said throwing out mail ballots in that election for lacking a handwritten date would violate voters’ civil rights. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has quietly dismissed Republicans’ request to overturn the court’s order.
Yet provisions of Sections 6 and 8 of Act 77 both require voters to “fill out, date and sign the declaration printed on such envelope,” which goes against the Federal Law based on the court’s judgment.
A non-severability clause written into Act 77 says “the remaining provisions or applications of this act are void” if any of its requirements are struck down. Plaintiffs, therefore, requested the court in the Wednesday lawsuit to declare all remaining provisions of Act 77 invalid and quash the law.
State Rep. Seth Grove, chair of the House State Government Committee, also said last week in a letter that “the entire bill should now be void.” (Read more)

8. Climate activists embrace extreme tactics, violence as deadline to 'save the planet' draws near - Fox News
Climate change activists in the U.S. and across the world are ramping up their actions in what they say is an attempt to save the planet.
In recent months, far-left activists have glued themselves to famous paintings, disrupted new pipeline construction, scaled buildings, blocked rush-hour traffic, lit themselves on fire, threatened to disrupt the Congressional Baseball Game and slashed tires of random sport utility vehicles (SUV) in cities around the world.
The activists have argued that world governments have failed citizens by not acting aggressively enough to enact policies curbing warming.
"We cannot continue to wait around for a bunch of corporate shills in Congress to do nothing while people are dying," Greenpeace USA senior climate campaigner Ashley Thomson said last week.

9. January 6 Defendant Dies by Suicide While Awaiting Sentencing - The Epoch Times
A man from Pennsylvania awaiting his sentencing for illegally entering the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 breach died on July 20.
Mark R. Aungst, 47, of South Williamsport, was declared to have committed suicide by Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr., according to PennLive. A gas field well service technician by trade, Aungst is survived by his mother, a daughter, and three siblings.
On Jan. 6, 2021, Aungst traveled by bus to Washington to attend former President Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally. He and a companion, co-defendant Tammy A. Bronsburg joined other people in the march to the Capitol.
In court, the prosecution presented evidence of Aungst and Bronsburg entering the Capitol around 2:45 p.m. and leaving 30 seconds later. After 23 minutes, the duo once more entered the building, taking images and videos on their cell phones as they walked around the place and entered Senate Room 145. Bronsburg then posted a video she took while inside the Capitol on her Facebook account.
- Lord, this sad situation has occurred previously, and we are grieved by it. We pray that Your mercy will be brought to bear over all the Jan 6 detainees and those charged with crimes they did not commit.

10. Lee Zeldin’s Alleged Attacker Arrested For Second Time, Faces Federal Charge - The Daily Wire
The man released from police custody after allegedly attacking Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) during a campaign event Thursday night was arrested again Saturday on a federal assault charge.
David Jakubonis was charged at the state level with second degree attempted assault, but he was “released on his own recognizance” Thursday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Jakubonis will now stand before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marion W. Payson Saturday to face his federal charge, Fox News reported.
Following his suspected attacker’s release, Zeldin pinned the blame on New York’s leftist bail law.
“After being charged with a felony for last night’s attack, the man who tried to stab me was instantly released back onto the street due to New York’s insane cashless bail law. We MUST repeal cashless bail in New York!” the congressman tweeted.
- Lord, we praise Your Blessed and Holy name that Mr. Zeldin was not harmed in this attack. We pray that the attacker would get the help he needs, primarily from Your power and Presence. We ask for repentance and heart change for all involved in this incident.

Against the backdrop of a federal district court judge allowing a case to move forward citing Joe Biden and other high ranking government officials and media companies with collusion to suppress free speech, the Media Research Council (MRC) has released a study identifying over 144 million instances of censorship by big tech media in just the first quarter of 2022. MRC, a reputable media watchdog, analyzed seven platforms–Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Spotify—to determine the number of times that users on social media had information kept from them, what MRC calls “secondhand censorship.” Social media companies are suspected accomplices in the federal collusion lawsuit.
Missouri and Louisiana filed the collusion suit in US District Court against Government Defendants consisting of Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Jennifer Rene Psaki, Vivek H. Murthy, Xavier Becerra, Department of Health and Human Services, Anthony Fauci, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Alejandro Mayorkas, Department of Homeland Security, Jen Easterly, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and Nina Jankowicz. DeSantis: ‘Take A Stand Against The Left’s Schemes’ By Putting On ‘The Full Armor Of God’

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis encouraged attendees at the Sunshine Summit’s Victory Dinner to rely on God’s protection as they battled against the political left.
DeSantis, who is considered to be a top 2024 presidential contender, told the audience that he was “just getting warmed up” and had “only begun to fight.”
“You got to be ready for battle. So put on the full armor of God,” DeSantis said. “Take a stand against the left’s schemes. Stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around your waist. You will face fire from flaming arrows, but the shield of faith will protect you.”
DeSantis repeatedly targeted Democrat President Joe Biden in his speech, saying that the state of Florida had worked hard to remain free. DeSantis said he hoped that the U.S. “will have a speedy recovery from its bout with Joe Biden.”

WHO declares monkeypox a global health emergency

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that the international monkeypox virus outbreak now constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).
While the United Nations (UN) health agency had previously debated the matter, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus explained in a media briefing on Saturday that the International Health Regulations (IHR) Emergency Committee generally agreed that transmission of the virus at the time "did not represent a [PHEIC]."
Since then, he noted, the monkeypox outbreak has continued to grow, with more than 16,000 reported cases from 75 countries and territories. (Fox News) Read more here.

A Washington Post opinion piece argued that President Biden should announce he is not running for reelection in order to help Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections.
Steven Isenberg, who served as chief of staff to New York Mayor John V. Lindsay, wrote if Biden pledged not to run again, the midterms would cease to be a referendum on the state of America under Biden and instead focus on local elections.
"First, and most important, the midterm elections this November would become about key issues and the quality of individual House and Senate candidates rather than the merits of Biden’s presidency and whether voters feel he should run again," Isenberg wrote in the piece that was published Sunday.
Isenberg appeared to warn that one of the dangers of Biden needing to defend his record would be Democrats making public critiques.
"Unless Biden announces that he is not running for reelection, this quiet campaign against him will intensify — whether it comes from people who intend to challenge Biden in the primaries in 2024 or just to flex their muscles to discourage him from running again. This is fueled by his low standing in the polls on job performance and on desirability as the party’s 2024 nominee." (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord God, we pray for healing for Mr. Biden, and for Your will to be done in his life, but we pray, too, for America -- that our nation be served only by men and women who are fully able to serve in governing positions, at all levels of leadership.

US-European Satellite Will Make World’s First
Global Freshwater Survey

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography mission will make measurements of over 95% of Earth’s lakes, rivers, and reservoirs.
Water is life, but for all its importance, humanity has a surprisingly limited view of Earth’s freshwater bodies. Researchers have reliable water level measurements for only a few thousand lakes around the world, and little to no data on some of the planet’s important river systems. The upcoming Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite will fill that enormous gap. By helping to provide a better understanding of Earth’s water cycle, it will both aid in better management of water resources and expand knowledge of how climate change affects lakes, rivers, and reservoirs.
A collaboration between NASA and the French space agency Centre National d’Études Spatial (CNES), with contributions from the Canadian Space Agency and the United Kingdom Space Agency, SWOT is scheduled to launch in November from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Engineers and technicians are finishing up work on the satellite in a facility run by Thales Alenia Space in Cannes, France.
SWOT has several key tasks, including measuring the height of water bodies on Earth’s surface. Over the ocean, the satellite will be able to “see” features like eddies less than 60 miles (100 kilometers) across – smaller than those that previous sea level satellites could observe. SWOT will also measure more than 95% of Earth’s lakes larger than 15 acres (6 hectares) and rivers wider than 330 feet (100 meters) across. Read More

By faith, we had gotten 5,000 chairs and used nearly every one of them. Every single night of the crusade, there was an atmosphere of the Holy Spirit that drew the lost. Those who needed Christ and were not Christian came forward by the hundreds.
