GOP Bill Would Penalize States That Allow Noncitizens to Vote in State, Local Elections
|
|
Republican lawmakers have introduced a bill seeking to strengthen election integrity and boost voter confidence in American elections by implementing measures like requiring voter ID in some cases and ensuring that only U.S. citizens can vote in federal elections.
House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) introduced the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act on Monday.
The legislation “makes the biggest legislative effort in a generation to protect political speech in a climate where Democrats are doing everything in their power to determine ‘truth’ and silence conservative voices,” the bill summary states.
The bill makes it clear that it’s a felony offense for a noncitizen to vote in a federal election and asks the Department of Homeland Security, the Social Security Administration, and other relevant federal agencies to provide voter data to states at no cost so that noncitizens and deceased voters can be removed from voter rolls.
States would be empowered to remove noncitizens from voter rolls immediately without a blackout period. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Republican Attorneys General Warn Target Over ‘Obscene’ Pride and Satanic Merchandise
|
|
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita sent a letter to Target on Wednesday warning the corporation that its recent “Pride” campaign merchandise and donation efforts ran the risk of violating state child-protection laws. It also cited concerns about parental rights and neglect of fiduciary duties.
“State child-protection laws penalize the ‘sale or distribution … of obscene matter,'” the letter states (pdf), which includes items with sexual themes and material harmful to minors. “Indiana, as well as other states, have passed laws to protect children from harmful content meant to sexualize them and prohibit gender transitions of children.”
Attorneys general from six other states also signed on: Tim Griffin, Arkansas; Daniel Cameron, Kentucky; Andrew Bailey, Missouri; Raul Labrador, Idaho; Lynn Fitch, Mississippi; and Alan Wilson, South Carolina.
These are states that have this year passed laws, some now in the courts, that prohibit cross-sex hormone and surgery procedures for minors, and the chief legal officers are now sending a signal to corporations that do business in their states to take notice. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Think Tank Director, Who Claimed to Be Tipster in Hunter Biden Case, Charged With Acting as Chinese Agent, Arms Trafficking

Gal Luft, 57, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen and co-director of the think tank Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, has been charged with arms trafficking, making false statements to federal agents, willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and Iranian sanctions violations.
Mr. Luft is alleged to have conspired with others to act in China’s interest, including recruiting and paying a former high ranking U.S. government official to support policies beneficial to China.
He is also charged with conspiracy and attempt to sell arms illegally to Chinese individuals and companies, to sell aerial bombs and rockets to the United Arab Emirates, to sell Chinese weapons to Kenya, and to sell Iranian oil in violation of sanctions.
Mr. Luft was initially arrested on Feb. 17 in the Republic of Cyprus, but fled after being released on bail. If indicted on all eight counts, Mr. Luft faces a maximum prison sentence of 100 years (pdf). (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

1. Netanyahu hosts US energy envoy amid Hezbollah tensions - JNS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Tuesday with the Biden administration’s special envoy for energy Amos Hochstein.
The two men spoke about “regional issues and topics connected to the close cooperation between the U.S. and Israel,” according to a statement from Netanyahu’s office.
They discussed growing tensions with Hezbollah and ongoing diplomatic efforts to forge a normalization deal with Saudi Arabia.
According to a report, Washington recently proposed that Jerusalem halt construction on a security barrier in a village on the Lebanese border in exchange for the removal of a Hezbollah outpost set up on the Israeli side of the U.N.-demarcated Blue Line. (Read more)

A group of U.S. Republican senators sent a letter on Tuesday to Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling on the Biden administration to rescind its “discriminatory” guidance halting bilateral scientific and technological cooperation with Israeli entities operating in Judea and Samaria.
The administration late last month issued the directive applying to areas Israel captured in its defensive 1967 Six-Day War.
“The guidance does something America has never done before: unilaterally impose territorial restrictions on U.S. scientific research aid to Israel,” wrote the senators in their letter. “Decades ago, the U.S. and Israel bilaterally agreed to such limits against the backdrop of unique regional conditions, but in 2020, both sides rescinded and rejected them as discriminatory.” (Read more)

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant criticized Tuesday renewed calls by military reservists to refuse to show up for duty in protest of the government's plans to reform the judiciary.
Speaking at the 146th Reserve Armored Division, marking 50 years since the Yom Kippur War, Gallant said, "The strength of the IDF rested then and rests today on the unity of its ranks. Even today, the key to success in our missions lies in the unity of our ranks.
"Calls that are being heard these days encouraging refusal and halting the volunteering of reservists threaten the unity of the ranks, are dangerous, and are a reward for our enemy.
"Refusal harms the IDF. Refusal harms the defense establishment. Refusal harms Israel's security. We must all condemn refusal or calls for refusal, and remember very well that we all have one destiny, we are brothers, and the IDF belongs to us all," he said and called on both right- and left-wing public figures to "leave politics out of the military." In a speech commemorating the 17th anniversary of the Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah warned his group would not “sit in silence” if Israel were to initiate military action.
The remark comes amid rising tensions between the two sides.
Over recent months, concerns about a potential escalation between Hezbollah and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have amplified due to sporadic altercations along Israel’s northern frontier. Nasrallah, meanwhile, has threatened a “large-scale war” with Israel.

Operatives from the Hezbollah terrorist organization set a fire on the Lebanese side of the Israel-Lebanon border Wednesday afternoon to mark 17 years since the Second Lebanon War.
The fire was set across the border from the Israeli town of Metula, and caused landmines to detonate on the Lebanese side of the border.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sat down with Fox News host Jesse Watters Monday night, when Jesse asked, “Why hasn't the Biden administration punished China … for the lab leak?”
“I think one of the reasons we haven't investigated the Wuhan lab is because the U.S. government, not just through NIH, but through the CIA and through USAID, was actually funding the studies in the Wuhan lab,” answered Kennedy.He continued to discuss the financials in more detail.
“And we did a very, very big technology transfer of bioweapons technology to the Wuhan lab. Bioweapons technology that was developed at NIH expense. I think the CIA was [certainly] involved in this research. They were funding it through USAID. And NIH, I think, in the end, gave about $26 million in funding to the Wuhan Lab. But USAID, which was functioning as a CIA surrogate, gave over $64 million. And the Pentagon also gave a lot of money.” (Read more)

Ty Cobb, a former White House attorney under Donald Trump, on Tuesday predicted an indictment is imminent in the federal investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and the role of the former president related to it. “I believe it’s about to happen,” Cobb told CNN’s Erin Burnett.
“I think what is called the Jan. 6 case, which really encompasses all the attempts to cling to power and prevent the peaceful transfer of government, I think that has been a very important matter to the special prosecutor,” Cobb continued. “I think he has gone about it very deliberately, I think they have moved heaven and earth to do it in a timely way.”
Cobb suggested Trump could end up being a defendant, an unlisted co-conspirator or be omitted entirely from the indictment subject to further investigation. (Read more)

4. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals Reinstates Tennessee Law Protecting Children From Horrors of Hormone Therapy - Gateway Pundit
The United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals last night stayed a lower court’s injunction of a Tenneseee law that punishes medical professionals who provide hormone therapy to minors. A Saturday morning press release from America First Legal explains that the law was challenged by ACLU attorneys — prompting a federal district court to issue a preliminary injunction just three days before the law’s effective date.
On Monday, America First Legal filed a brief in support of the Tenneseee legislature. As a result of the Sixth Circuit ruling, the bipartisan law will go into effect as scheduled — protecting numerous Tennessee children from the horrors of chemical castration and genital mutilation.
Although the stay represents victory in the short-term battle, America First Legal remains cautiously optimistic —fully aware that the war is far from over. (Read more)

China-based hackers have breached email accounts at two-dozen organizations, including some United States government agencies, in an apparent spying campaign aimed at acquiring sensitive information, according to statements from Microsoft and the White House late Tuesday.
The full scope of the hack is being investigated, but US officials and Microsoft have been quietly scrambling in recent weeks to assess the impact of the hack and contain the fallout. The federal agency where the Chinese hackers were first detected was the State Department, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. 7. China sends swarms of warplanes, navy ships to Taiwan ahead of annual invasion training - Fox News
The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) deployed swaths of navy ships and warplanes toward Taiwan over the last two days as Taipei prepares for its annual defensive training aimed at countering a possible invasion.
A reported 68 warplanes, including fighter jets and bombers, have been sent from China’s shores in the direction of Taiwan, with some even crossing the median line within the Taiwan Strait, which serves as the unofficial border that divides air and sea parameters between the island and mainland China.
China sent some 38 warplanes and nine navy vessels Tuesday morning, followed by another 30 planes deployed near the island by 1 p.m. on Wednesday local time, Taiwan's defense ministry reported. (Read more)

Fox News host Sean Hannity is set to sit down with former President Donald Trump Tuesday in an exclusive town hall event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The town hall will begin at 3:45 p.m. local time, with doors opening at 1:45 p.m., and last one hour before airing on Fox News from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ET, according to a release on hannity.com.

A recent drag queen march in New York City found activists chanting, “We’re here. We’re queer. We’re coming after your children. Two recent news stories also demonstrate the insanity of liberal thought. The UK Sun dreports that teachers and parents have been warned by a government-backed safeguarding group not to over-react to schoolkids identifying as “Furries”—kids that think they are animals. The Radio Times says that singer Elton John will not perform in the United States after his farewell tour because of “disgraceful” anti-grooming and parental rights laws prohibiting the targeting of children by the LGBTQ+ community. In both these stories, let’s think a little bit about what is being promoted.
The 76-year old John, who is “married” to a husband and has children, told the Radio Times, “It’s all going pear-shaped in America. We seem to be going backwards. And that spreads. It’s like a virus that the LGBTQ+ movement is suffering.” Indeed, if that movement is aimed at grooming kids and sexual predation, it should be suffering a setback. The gains that the LGBTQ+ community made over the years resulted in homosexuals being portrayed on television and in movies as accepted and normal; a redefinition of marriage; and the institutionalization of celebrating homosexuality and other deviant sexual preferences during an entire month out of the year. Probably, most importantly, the movement has ingrained itself in schools and libraries across the country, grooming kids to become the next generation of LGBTQ+ practitioners. Read More

n recent weeks, U.S. President Joe Biden called the Supreme Court ruling that he lacked the authority to waive student debt “wrong,” adding, “This fight is not over.” When the Supreme Court ruled that affirmative action in higher education is unconstitutional, Biden said, “This is not a normal court.”
“We cannot let this decision be the last word. I want to emphasize: We cannot let this decision be the last word,” Biden added. Vice President Kamala Harris said another recent Supreme Court decision “threatens future progress.”
The Biden administration has often stated that “trust in our democracy and democratic institutions” is essential. “Toxic polarization is increasing across society and Americans’ trust in institutions and in one another is decreasing,” it stated in December 2021. (JNS.org) Read more here.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy secretary of Russia's powerful Security Council chaired by President Vladimir Putin, said late on Tuesday that the increase in military assistance to Ukraine by the NATO alliance brings World War Three closer.
Commenting on the first day of the summit of the US-led alliance in Lithuania, where a number of countries pledged more weaponry and financial support, Medvedev said the aid would not deter Russia from achieving its goals in Ukraine.

The Biden Administration has publicly voiced its opposition to a measure in the annual defense spending bill that would mandate promotions based on merit and forbid promotions based on race.
As the New York Post reports, the provision in question is one of eight measures in the overall proposal that was officially opposed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), as it would essentially undo many of the pro-DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility) initiatives that the Biden Administration has been pushing for since first taking power.
“A candidate shall be evaluated on the bases of qualifications, performance, integrity, fitness, training and conduct,” the proposed rule reads. “No determination may be based on favoritism or nepotism; and no quota may be used.”
“The administration strongly opposes the House’s sweeping attempts to eliminate the [Defense Department’s] longstanding DEIA efforts and related initiatives to promote a cohesive and inclusive force,” OMB wrote in its response. “DoD’s strategic advantage in a complex global security environment is the diverse and dynamic talent pool from which we draw.”
Other proposals by House Republicans that drew the White House’s ire include a ban on funding for the teaching of critical race theory (CRT), a ban on performing drag shows in the military, and outright eliminating the newly-created position of DEI Chief at the Pentagon. Another measure would forbid Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin from “appointing or employing a military or civilian employee whose duties include diversity, equity, and inclusion” to any high-ranking position. We ask you to bring together members of the House of Representatives who are aware of the immense damage this type of promotion qualifications will have on the morale in our military, who are aware of how impossible it is to build a sustainable fighting force when skills, abilities and behaviors have no bearing on troup preparedness.

Jewelry, ornate pottery show 3,000-year-old
Cypriot city was a key trading hub, scientist says

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — New discoveries including gold ornaments and fine pottery at an ancient port city in Cyprus dating back more than 3,000 years indicate that the settlement was one of the Mediterranean’s most important trading posts in the late Bronze Age, an archeologist said Tuesday.
Professor Peter M. Fischer from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, said the city now known as Hala Sultan Tekke because of its proximity to a famous mosque flourished in 1,630-1,150 B.C. because of its trade in the “most sought after product at that time” -– plentiful copper mined from the Troodos mountain range. Some theorize that Cyprus got its name from copper because of its ancient trade in the metal.
Fischer told The Associated Press that along with Mycenaean pottery, the Cypriot variety was “the most popular on the ‘intercultural’ market” of the time, reaching as far as modern-day Spain, Iraq, Turkey and Sudan.
Fischer, who concluded excavations at the site this year, said evidence now suggests “the great importance” of the ancient city, rivaling the majesty of Enkomi, considered the most important Bronze Age Cypriot city because of its unique layout. Read More

Jesus Revolution' Coming to Netflix: 'Pray God Uses It to Touch Lives'

The faith-based film "Jesus Revolution" is coming to Netflix on July 31 allowing thousands more movie watchers the opportunity to hear the gospel message. Pastor Greg Laurie, whose life the film is based on, urged his social media followers to pray for those who would be watching the film on the streaming platform. "Let's all be praying that God uses it to touch lives," he tweeted. As CBN News has reported, the movie tells the true story behind the Jesus Movement of the late 1960s and '70s, including how Pastor Chuck Smith welcomed hippies at Calvary Chapel as they were looking for truth. That invitation helped to fuel one of the greatest spiritual awakenings in American history.
The film was released by Lionsgate in February and earned more than $52 million in theaters. It opened at the box office at the No. 3 spot and remained in the top 10 for several weeks. In April, it soared to number one on Amazon Prime's best-seller chart and hit the number one spot on Blu-ray and DVD charts, as well. Throughout this year, there has been a resurgence of revival that mirrors what took place in the 1970s. Thousands of people are being touched by God, and this divine movement is changing their lives.
