Fox News Voter Analysis: Trump dominates Iowa caucuses

Donald Trump notched a commanding win in the Iowa GOP caucuses, more than doubling the 24% support he received in 2016. Caucusgoers braved subzero temperatures to deliver a resounding victory for the former president, whose 30-point win was the largest for a contested presidential caucus in modern Iowa history.
That’s according to our Fox News Voter Analysis of Iowa Republicans.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis edged out former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley for second place. The result was a much-needed boost for DeSantis, who visited every county and invested significant time and resources in the Hawkeye State.
Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy finished far behind with single-digit support, dropping out and endorsing Trump as the results became clear.
Underscoring the extent of his dominance, Trump won almost every demographic group by double-digit margins. He was particularly strong among some of the largest groups of Iowa Republican caucusgoers: those without a college degree, very conservative voters and rural voters.
Trump won 55% of White evangelical Christians, a crucial bloc of Iowa voters, more than double DeSantis’ 24% and Haley’s 13%. (Fox News) Read more here.

US Military Intercepts Houthi Missile Targeting USS Laboon Warship
|
|
Yemen-based Houthis fired an anti-ship cruise missile toward a U.S. Navy warship on Jan. 14, U.S. military officials have confirmed.
The Houthis fired a missile at the USS Laboon at about 4:35 p.m. local time in the southern Red Sea, according to a statement from the Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees U.S. military forces in the Middle East. The missile was shot down by U.S. fighter aircraft, and no injuries were reported.
It wasn’t clear whether the United States would retaliate for the latest attacks, although President Joe Biden has said that he “will not hesitate to direct further measures to protect our people and the free flow of international commerce as necessary.”
The attack on the USS Laboon is one of many that the Houthis—an Islamist group that’s believed to be materially backed by the Iranian regime and was once designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department—have launched on U.S. assets as well as merchant ships in the region in recent weeks. The group stated that the attacks are designed to thwart ships from reaching Israel amid an escalating regional conflict.
The Jan. 14 attack follows U.S. and UK airstrikes that targeted the Houthis inside Yemen last week, triggering fears that the conflict is escalating across the Middle East. The Houthis have ramped up their Red Sea attacks since Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorist attacks killed more than 1,200 people in southern Israel, prompting a lengthy campaign by Israel’s military in Gaza, where Hamas—a designated terrorist group that’s also suspected to be backed by Iran—is based. Leaked German documents show leaders are preparing should Russia launch World War 3: reports

Reports suggest Russian offensive will include troops on the ground and cyberattacks
|
|
German classified documents show Russia could expand its war on Ukraine by attacking NATO ally countries next year, according to reports.
German newspaper BILD published classified documents outlining how Germany plans to prepare for an offensive by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The outlet based its claims on information obtained from the German Ministry of Defense and said armed forces in Europe are preparing for an attack by Russia on Eastern Europe, which could include a cyber offensive.
The "Alliance Defense 2024" is one of the scenarios being watched that could start in February and include the mobilization of about 200,000 Russian soldiers, according to the report. (Fox News) Read more here.

1. IDF carries out ‘significant wave’ of strikes on Hezbollah targets - JNS
Combined Israeli ground and aerial forces carried out an “extensive” series of strikes on Hezbollah targets in the Wadi Saluki district of Southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
Among the targets were dozens of Hezbollah posts, military structures and weapons infrastructure.
Israel accuses the Iranian terror proxy of exploiting the Wadi Saluki area for its terrorist activities against Israeli civilians and soldiers, saying that Hezbollah hides assets and infrastructure in the forested areas. (Read more)

2. IDF northern commander: 'Prepared more than ever' for expansion of fighting in Lebanon - I24 News
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Major General Ori Gordin, head of the Northern Command, declared a high state of readiness amid escalating attacks on the border, speaking to the 5030 Battalion during an exercise which included simulating an operation in Lebanon.
"The exercise we are in is part of the importance of increasing our readiness for the expansion of the fighting and the attack on Lebanon. We are more ready for this than we have ever been, for tonight if we have to," the commander was quoted as saying.
"We will continue to strengthen the readiness and the assessments moving forward," Gordin added. (Read more)

3. Kibbutz Confirms Death of Two Israeli Hostages Featured in Latest Hamas Video, Says Bodies Held by Terror Group - Algemeiner
Kibbutz Be’eri in southern Israel announced on Tuesday that two of its residents, Itay Svirsky and Yossi Sharabi, were killed in Gaza and that their bodies remain in the hands of the Hamas terror group.
“The abductees Itay Svirsky and Yossi Sharabi were murdered in captivity and their bodies are held by Hamas,” kibbutz officials said, calling for their bodies to be returned for burial and for the release of all hostages in Gaza.
Svirsky, 38, and Sharabi, 53, were among the 240 hostages kidnapped by Hamas-led Palestinian terrorists during their Oct. 7 onslaught across southern Israel. The massacre, in which 1,200 people were murdered, triggered the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, the Palestinian enclave ruled by the terror group.
Israeli officials have said they will continue their military campaign in Gaza until all the hostages are freed and Hamas is incapacitated to the point that it no longer poses a serious threat to Israel. About 130 hostages remain in Gaza after over 100 were released as part of a temporary Israel-Hamas truce in late November. (Read more)

4. Israel, Hamas agree to send medications and aid to Gaza, hostages - Qatar - Jerusalem Post
The Qatari foreign ministry also announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday that an agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas to send medications and aid into Gaza.
Israel and Qatar have included the transfer of life-saving medicine to the hostages in the Gaza Strip during the last round of talks, according to reports by Israeli media on Saturday.
The agreement reached between Israel and Hamas stipulated that "medicine along with other humanitarian aid is to be delivered to civilians in Gaza Strip, in the most affected and vulnerable areas, in exchange for delivering medication needed for Israeli captives in Gaza," Qatar said in a statement.
The medications will leave Doha on Wednesday and will then be transported to Egypt, where they will be prepared to be transported into Gaza. (Read more)

5. 50 Rockets Fired at Netivot from Central Gaza - Jewish Press
A heavy volley of some 50 Rockets was fired at the town of Netivot Tuesday at 10:30 AM. According to reports, the rockets were fired from an area in central Gaza that the IDF had left on Monday.
Minister Gideon Saar (National Union) tweeted in response: “Greetings from reality. The goals have not yet been achieved. The war must not be stopped before the objectives are achieved. It is wrong to lower the military pressure. It should be increased.”
According to the IDF, some 100 rocket launchers were located in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, and dozens of terrorists were eliminated. (Read more)

2. NBC News reports 'Deep State' plot for 'military coup' against Trump - World Net Daily
Concerns are intensifying among far-left national security “experts” and Pentagon insiders over the possibility that former President Donald Trump might leverage the U.S. military to enforce his political will if he returns to the Oval Office.
In a detailed report, NBC News inadvertently admitted the existence of a “Deep State,” allegedly working to facilitate a military coup against former President Trump if he is freely and fairly elected by Americans.
The NBC article paints a portrait of a left-wing plot to disrupt military allegiance to civilian control.
Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist wrote, “NBC reports the left is plotting ways to have military not be under civilian control. A prominent publication in Washington is calling out Joe Biden for his “unconscionable war” on religious freedom in American, one of those freedoms protected by the First Amendment.
"It will be up to the courts to set Biden straight," explained the Washington Examiner.

4. Jordan Subpoenas Director Of National Intelligence Over Social Media Censorship - American Liberty News
As part of its investigation into how the government has become weaponized against the American people, U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is forcing one of the government's top officials to cough up information on a scheme to censor the social media accounts of government critics.
Jordan subpoenaed Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines for “communications between the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), private companies, and other third-party groups such as nonprofit organizations, in addition to other information,” the Committee announced in the statement.
“The subpoena comes after ODNI failed to produce a single document requested by the Committee as it continues conducting oversight of how and to what extent the Executive Branch has coerced and colluded with companies and other intermediaries to censor speech,” the Committee reveals.

5. Farmer Revolution: Globalist Gov’t Must Go, German Protesters Demand as Farmers Issue Deadline to Sholz - Breitbart
Berlin once again ground to a halt on Monday as thousands of farmers, truck drivers and others shut down the German capital, calling for the end of the globalist government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

7. Biden and Netanyahu ‘have not spoken’ in three weeks amid split over war - msn.com
Joe Biden has reportedly not spoken to Benjamin Netanyahu in three weeks amid a growing split between the pair over the Israeli prime minister’s handling of the war in Gaza.
The White House is dismayed by Mr Netanyahu’s lack of vision for ending the conflict and lack of support for future Palestinian governance of the enclave, Israel’s two leading newspapers reported on Monday.
The Israeli leader has ignored repeated US calls to discuss a possible post-war settlement, including bringing in the Palestinian Authority (PA) to play a role in Gaza once it has been rid of Hamas – a move that would be unpopular domestically.
Amid the rising tension, Mr Netanyahu and Mr Biden have not held direct talks since a Dec 23 phone call that the US president reportedly ended abruptly after Mr Netanyahu refused to release withheld tax revenues to the PA, according to the Israeli media reports. (Read more)

8. Trump special prosecutor in Georgia cited for contempt - WND
The special prosecutor hired by Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis to orchestrate her election interference case against President Trump has a contempt of court citation on his record, according to a new report.
The report noted Wade was "held in contempt of court for 'willfully' failing to turn over court documents relating to his income," including the hundreds of thousands of dollars he apparently took from Willis while assembling her claims against Trump.
The problems developed during a divorce case, apparently the same case for which Willis herself now has been told to testify.
The Examiner explained, "Wade has come under national scrutiny regarding an alleged undisclosed relationship he had with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, potentially jeopardizing the election interference case against Trump. Wade was put in charge of the prosecution of Trump by Willis, despite allegedly having little experience in such cases."

The Politics Of Terrorism And Persecution

Open Doors, dedicated to strengthening and equipping Christians around the world who are facing persecution, estimates that 312 million Christians face high levels of persecution and discrimination for their faith in some 50 countries. This persecution is primarily found in two types of countries—Islamic nations and authoritarian regimes such as communism. The biggest threat to tyranny is Christianity and everywhere there is tyranny, Christians come under persecution. In the case of Islam, it is both Jews and Christians who are persecuted. The US State Department releases a “Countries of Particular Concern” each year, yet under the Biden Administration, some of the worst offenders didn’t make the list.
According to the Open Doors World Watch List, “5,621 Christians were killed for their faith last year. 90% of these were from Nigeria alone.” In 2020, the Trump Administration put Nigeria on the State Department list for its persecution of Christians, but in 2021 the Biden State Department removed Nigeria from the list. The removal of Nigeria occurred the day before Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a state visit to Nigeria. It remains off the list despite being the host of nearly 6,000 Christians being killed for their faith in 2023 as Islamic terrorists Boko Haram, ISWAP, Fulani militants and other armed bandits continue to attack Christian communities. The Nigerian government continues to deny the persecution. Whether Boko Haram or Hamas, the common denominator is Islam, for which Biden has a soft spot. Read More

‘God Made Trump’ Appeals to a Christian Nationalism Foreign to the Bible

|
Over the past few years, academics and journalists have written ad nauseam about the alleged dangers of “Christian nationalism.” As I’ve explained elsewhere, it is evident that the term “Christian nationalism” is an epithet often wielded against politically engaged Christians in order to discredit or dismiss them. Although the overwhelming majority of believers do not wish to impose any sort of theocracy on their fellow citizens, advocacy for the unborn and opposition to radical gender ideology is routinely framed as “extreme” and hateful. So, while Christians should rightly stand up to those who would love nothing more than to drive Christian and conservative voices from the public square, there is a segment within the conservative movement that has proven susceptible to conflating their Christian and American identities.
An example of this conflation is the video shared by Trump in the lead-up to the Iowa caucus. On January 5, the former president shared a video on Truth Social titled “God Made Trump.” Although not produced by the Trump campaign, the president promoted the video, which was amplified on X by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Pastor Paula White and viewed by millions. Additionally, Trump’s campaign played the video before he took the stage at several rallies in Iowa. In my view, the video is a legitimate example of an inappropriate synthesis of religion and politics. Using artificial intelligence to mimic the voice of the late Paul Harvey, the video intentionally riffs on Harvey’s 1978 “So God Made a Farmer” speech. “God looked down on his planned paradise and said, ‘I need a caretaker,’ so God gave us Trump,” begins the clip.

In summary, although I generally dismiss allegations of “Christian nationalism” as thinly disguised efforts to silence Christians in the public square, the video played at Trump’s recent campaign events is a legitimate example of conflating Christianity with a political agenda, i.e. Christian nationalism. Christians can never ascribe ultimate devotion and loyalty to anyone or anything besides the God of the Bible. Although advocating and championing one’s political candidate is a valid civic exercise, Christians must resist the temptation to infuse politics with transcendent meaning. A telltale sign that faithful engagement has devolved into idolatry is the misuse and misappropriation of Scripture to baptize one’s preferred candidate or platform.
As the 2024 election gets into full swing, Christians have an opportunity to model a faithful politics that keeps everything in perspective. Elections and campaigns matter. But the people of God must engage the political process as Christians, understanding that whoever is elected in November is ultimately a fallible human, not a messiah (Ps. 146:3-5).

Health Officials Warn of Possible Measles Exposure at 2 Major Airports

Health authorities in the District of Columbia and Virginia issued a warning about a possible measles exposure on Tuesday after a person with a “confirmed case” of the highly contagious virus traveled through two airports in the Washington metro area.
In a release issued on Tuesday, DC Health said that it “has been notified of a confirmed case of measles in a person who traveled through” area airports after returning from international travel. It said that the “threat of transmission is low” but the local health agency said it is notifying people who were at the airports about “their potential exposure.”
The exact exposure may have occurred at Dulles International Airport in the international arrivals area of the main terminal, between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. local time on Wednesday, Jan. 3 as well as at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport’s Terminal A between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, Jan. 4, according to the health agency.
The Virginia Department of Health warned about the case in a separate news release over the weekend.
“Out of an abundance of caution,” the agency said it is “informing people who were at various locations, including Dulles International Airport on January 3, 2024, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 4, 2024, that they may have been exposed” to the virus.
Health authorities are now working to identify people who may have been exposed to measles, including working to contact possibly exposed passengers on several flights.

Massive tectonic collision causing Himalayas to grow may also be splitting Tibet apart

The Indian plate may be peeling into two as it slides under the Eurasian plate, tearing Tibet apart in the process.
Tibet may be tearing in two beneath the rising Himalayas, with pieces of the continental plate peeling off like the lid off a tin of fish, researchers have discovered.
According to new research presented at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union and posted as a pre-peer-reviewed pre-print online, this shows that the geology beneath the world's highest mountain range may be even more complex than previously believed.
The Himalayas are growing because two continental tectonic plates, the Indian and Eurasian plates, are colliding beneath the colossal mountain range. In cases where oceanic and continental plates collide, the denser oceanic plate slides beneath the lighter continental plate in a process called subduction. When two similarly dense continental plates collide, however — as is the case below the Himalayas — it's not so simple to predict which plate will end up under the other, and geoscientists are still unsure exactly what's going on in Tibet.
Some suggest that the bulk of the Indian plate may simply be sliding under the Eurasian plate without diving deeply into the mantle, a process called underplating; others believe that perhaps deeper parts of the Indian plate are subducting, while the upper parts are wedging themselves stubbornly against the bulk of Tibet. FL Baptist Missions Trip to Cuba Sees Nearly 5,000 Accept Jesus Christ

Florida Baptist missionaries say "God is moving among the churches and people in Cuba," as nearly 5,000 people gave their lives to Jesus Christ during a missionary trip to the communist nation in early December. Eight Florida Baptist leaders happily recalled how the hand of God moved during evangelistic outreach and preaching, resulting in 4,820 professions of faith, the Baptist Press reports. "This trip in many ways changed my life," said Manuel Barahona, pastor of Westside First Baptist Church in Boynton Beach. "The church in Western Cuba is alive and well. All I can say is, 'Praise God.'" The group of missionaries partnered with Western Cuba Baptist leaders for eight days to spread a message of hope. The group split into two teams and preached in 45 churches and missions in the Villa Clara and Cienfuegos provinces.
Florida Baptists have partnered with the Western Cuba Baptist Convention since 1997 and the leaders shared there is a sincere hunger for Jesus and the Word of God. Cuba has risen ten places on the 2023 World Watch List of Christian Persecution. "The dictatorial regime intensified its repressive tactics against all Christian leaders and activists that they view as opposing Communist principles," the report explains. "Government measures included arrests, abductions, arbitrary fines, close surveillance, denials of licenses and religious visas and physical and mental abuse." But Pastor Carlos Alamino, founder and president of Proclaim Cuba, told CBN News last September that the harvest is ripe. "Cuba is a mission field," he shared.
