FAA’s diversity push includes focus on hiring people with ‘severe intellectual’ and ‘psychiatric’ disabilities
|
|
FAA says people with 'severe' disabilities are most underrepresented segment of federal workforce
|
|
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is actively recruiting workers who suffer "severe intellectual" disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.
"Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring," the FAA’s website states. "They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism."
The initiative is part of the FAA’s "Diversity and Inclusion" hiring plan, which says "diversity is integral to achieving FAA's mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond." The FAA’s website shows the agency’s guidelines on diversity hiring were last updated on March 23, 2022.
The FAA, which is overseen by Secretary Pete Buttigieg's Department of Transportation, is a government agency charged with regulating civil aviation and employs roughly 45,000 people. (Fox News) Read more here

- Holy One, this is a shocking revelation regarding those who are tasked with keeping tens of thousands of people safe in the skies at any given hour of the day or night. We ask You to be the One who protects and guards the very full airplanes all across our skies, in Jesus name. We, as a nation, are always striving to have the very highest caliber individuals working for the best result of all; thus, very few of us will ever be a surgeon or Olympic gymnast, nor should we. Father, we pray for the people with various disabilities to be hired in jobs where they do not carry responsibility for the very lives of others, in Jesus name.
- "If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be?" (1 Corinthians 2:17-19)

2 Navy SEALs go missing off coast of Somalia during nighttime boarding mission
|
|
SEALs were boarding vessel Thursday when 1 fell into the sea, other jumped in to help
|
|
Two U.S. Navy Seals were missing Sunday after they fell into the water during a nighttime boarding mission off the coast of Somalia on Thursday, officials said.
The incident came as the U.S. has been cracking down on Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have been attacking commercial vessels in the Red Sea. The Houthis, who control part of Yemen, have hit shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden 28 times since late November. The Houthis say the attacks are a response to Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
A U.S. official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss details that have not yet been made public, told the Associated Press the missing SEALs were on a mission not related to Operation Prosperity Guardian, the U.S. and international mission to provide protection to vessels in the Red Sea.
The SEALs were on an interdiction mission, the official said, when one of them fell off a ship after high waves hit the vessel, prompting another SEAL to go after him to attempt a rescue.
U.S. Central Command said search and rescue operations were ongoing. The command told USA TODAY it won't release more information on the incident until the personnel recovery mission is complete. (USA Today) Read more here.

- Holy King, this is so very sad and we trust that You held these two close to Your heart. We pray that Your perfect peace would surround their families and team-members with love and the knowledge of You as Comforter, in Jesus name. We pray that their mission was successful in disrupting the plots of the enemy and that other lives would be saved because of the dangerous work these two Seals performed, in Jesus name.

Anti-Israel mob attempts to breach White House gate
|
|
Protesters hurled water bottles and sticks at the Secret Service, which kept them from entering the White House grounds.
|
|
To cries of “Break it down,” anti-Israel protesters surged against a reinforced fence outside the White House on Saturday evening. The Secret Service evacuated nonessential personnel for their safety as the crowd grew more violent.
The anti-scale fencing erected ahead of the protest appeared to give way as the mob lifted it off the ground. Some protesters tried to climb over the fence, according to video of the incident.
Protesters threw water bottles and sticks at Secret Service agents, who kept them from entering the White House grounds.
“There were instances of illegal and destructive behavior in Lafayette Park, including items being thrown at our officers,” District of Columbia Police Chief Pamela A. Smith said in a statement.
Earlier, protesters chanted, “1, 2, 3, 4, occupation no more, 5, 6, 7, 8, Israel is a terrorist state,” and “Biden, Biden you’re a liar, we demand a ceasefire.”
Thousands participated in the protest “from as far [away] as Florida, Minnesota, Texas and Wisconsin,” in what was termed “the March on Washington for Gaza,” according to the London-based The Guardian.
It was organized by the American Muslim Task Force for Palestine and other groups to call attention to what they claimed were Israel’s “crimes against humanity,” the paper reported. (JNS.org) Read more here.

- We cry out for justice, O King! There are citizens languishing in prison for years who have done less than this. We declare an immediate stop in the spirit of this Islamic rage on our nation, in Jesus name. We bind this spirit of chaos now and cast it out of our land, as far as the east is from the west in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We release the Mighty Spirit of the Living God, the Holy One of Israel, upon this nation and Israel to overwhelm and overthrow this spirit that is twisting up people with lies and deceptions and command it to cease and desist, in Jesus Holy, Mighty, Living Name and we cover all our people and lands with the blood of Jesus that sanctifies, purifies and protects. Amen!

1. Gallant: High-intensity fighting finished in northern Gaza, will soon end in Khan Younis too - Times of Israel
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says the “intensive phase” of the ground offensive in northern Gaza has ended, and it will soon end in the Khan Younis area of the Strip’s south as well.
Troops have been carrying out operations at a lower intensity in northern Gaza, after defeating all of Hamas’s battalions in the area. The soldiers have been working to locate the remaining Hamas sites and kill or capture the terror group’s last operatives.
“In the south of the Gaza Strip [the intensive phase] will end soon,” Gallant says, referring to the Khan Younis area, without giving an exact timeline. (Read more)

4. 70-Year-Old Woman Killed, 18 Wounded in Ra’anana Ramming-and-Stabbing Attack - Jewish Press
A 70-year-old woman, Edna Blustein, was killed and at least 18 other people, including at least eight children and teens waiting at a bus stop on their way home from school, were wounded Monday afternoon in a terror attack the central Israeli city of Ra’anana.
The combined ramming and stabbing attack began with two terrorists who stole a car after stabbing the driver. The attackers rammed the vehicle into the first victims and then fled the scene, striking again in several other locations in the city, including Jerusalem, Haroshet, Weizmann and Ahuza Streets.
One of the two attackers was captured and arrested by Israeli security personnel at around 2:20 pm, nearly an hour after the start of the incident. The second terrorist was arrested shortly after. The attackers, ages 44 and 24, are residents of the Palestinian Authority village of Bani Naim, a suburb of Hebron, and were working illegally in a car wash in Ra’anana. (Read more)

1. ‘It Doesn’t Happen’: Veterans Detail What Would Happen To Regular Troops If They Pulled A Lloyd Austin - Daily Caller
After Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalized and failed to inform the White House for several days, veterans reflected on consequences regular soldiers would face if they did something similar.
Austin was rushed Jan. 1 to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., due to extreme pain. Despite spending several days in the ICU, Austin and the Pentagon did not notify the White House or Congress of the secretary’s condition until several days after being admitted. Despite the communication breakdown, President Joe Biden has no plans to punish Austin.
If a soldier in the military attempted to do something like Austin — going off to a medical appointment or missing normal duties without informing anyone — they would be punished, veterans told the Daily Caller.
“As for a regular soldier, sailor, airman, marine just disappearing — that’s called Unauthorized Absence — depending on the effects of your UA, you could get any range of punishments, ranging from restriction, demotion, pay taken, loss of security clearances, brig, or even an ‘other than honorable’ discharge,” Tim W. a former Navy Seal of 22 years whose surname is being kept anonymous so he could speak candidly, told the Daily Caller. 3. Taiwan’s Ruling Party Candidate Lai Wins Presidency in Setback for Beijing - The Epoch Times
TAIPEI, Taiwan—The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has secured the presidency for another four years, a result that means Taiwan and the United States will likely continue to work closely as partners in the face of challenges from Beijing.
The DPP presidential candidate, current Taiwan Vice President Lai Ching-te, also known as William Lai, secured over 5.5 million votes, or about 40 percent of the ballot, defeating two other candidates. His victory means that his running mate, Hsiao Bi-khim, who stepped down as Taiwan’s de facto ambassador to the United States in November, will be the new vice president.
In his victory speech, Mr. Lai said “Taiwan has achieved a victory for the community of democracies. We are telling the international community that between democracy and authoritarianism we will stand on the side of democracy, the Republic of China, Taiwan will continue to walk side by side with democracies from around the world,” Mr. Lai said, referring to Taiwan’s official name.
“Through our actions, the Taiwanese people have successfully resisted efforts from external forces to influence this election,” he added, a veiled remark to China’s efforts to interfere in Taiwan’s elections. “We trust that only the people of Taiwan have the right to choose their own president.”
Mr. Lai emphasized that he will maintain the current status quo across the Taiwan Strait. “As long as there is dignity and parity between two sides of the strait, Taiwan is very willing to engage in dialogues with China,” he added. (Read more)

4. The CCP’s $1 Trillion Geopolitical Weapon Is Failing - The Epoch Times
China’s $1 trillion global infrastructure investment program just turned 10, and it’s losing its luster. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), touted as a platform for China to build trade and investment links in developing countries, has evolved much in the past decade.
But wariness from countries in recent years has grown, and the program has drawn criticism over issues ranging from saddling partners with unsustainable debt to fueling corruption and labor abuses.
Over the past decade, China brought more than 150 countries under its BRI umbrella—a majority of the 193 United Nations member states, including countries classified by the U.N. as low-income. Currently, the United States, Canada, most of Western Europe, and a portion of South America still hold out.
The CCP isn’t keen to lend more money to low-income countries that are struggling to pay back the debt they’ve already incurred through BRI projects. Debt to China has soared in many countries; in Cambodia and Laos, BRI debts make up a fifth of their GDP. The BRI has become a public relations tool for the CCP to grab votes at the U.N. (Read more)

5. Texas seizes control of park, blocks Border Patrol from entering, as part of anti-illegal immigration efforts - Fox News
The Texas National Guard has seized control of a park at the U.S. southern border and is now blocking Border Patrol from entering the area – part of an effort to stop the surge of illegal immigration into Texas and a move likely to significantly increase tensions between Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the federal government.
The state government has taken control of Shelby Park in the city of Eagle Pass, Texas, which has been at the center of the migrant crisis that has engulfed the U.S. border. Authorities have now set up razor wire and fences to block off the area.
Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas said he was informed that the decision was made as part of Gov. Greg Abbott's emergency declaration. Salinas told reporters it was not something the city had requested, and he said his understanding is that Border Patrol was now not in the area as a result.
In a statement, the Texas Military Dept. said it has maintained a presence in the park since 2021, including with security points and temporary barriers. "The current posture is to prepare for future illegal immigrant surges and to restrict access to organizations that perpetuate illegal immigrant crossings in the park and greater Eagle Pass area," it said.
The Border Patrol union confirmed to Fox News that agents were being blocked from entering by Texas soldiers, and praised Abbott for taking matters into his own hands. "Governor Abbott is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them," National Border Patrol Council Brandon Judd said in a statement. "His seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier." 6. Ohio House Republicans override governor, vote to ban ‘sex changes’ for children - LifeSite News
The Ohio House voted to override Governor Mike DeWine’s veto of legislation that bans the chemical and surgical mutilation of gender-confused kids, sometimes referred to as “sex changes.” The legislation also prohibits gender-confused males from competing against females in women’s sports.
The House passed the legislation, the Saving Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act, again on Wednesday by a vote of 65-28. The Ohio Senate convenes again on January 24 and could vote to override the governor’s veto.
The moderate Republican governor vetoed the legislation at the end of December after lobbying from LGBT activists.
Last week, he signed a limited executive order that adopted state health department rules to “prohibit gender transition surgeries on anyone under the age of 18 in Ohio’s hospitals and health care facilities, including ambulatory surgical facilities,” as reported by LifeSiteNews. However, it does not protect kids against hormone injections nor contain protections for female athletes. (Read more)

Seeing Is Believing
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, January 15, 2024
Many Christians look down upon one of Christ’s disciples for not believing that it was Christ who appeared to them after his resurrection. Thomas said in John 20:25, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.” But Jesus came to the disciples again and Thomas was with them. Jesus told Thomas to put his finger into his hands and his hand into his side and “be not faithless, but believing.” And then Thomas believed. Jesus said in verse 29, “Thomas because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” We see here, but for faith, seeing is believing.
God has revealed to mankind his deliverance plan from the beginning. If we see it by faith, we are truly blessed. In the Hebrew translation LORD and ADONAI are interchangeable. In Exodus 6:2-9:35, the LORD (ADONAI) reveals himself as YHVH, Yud Heh Vav Heh (LORD), using four attributes of redemption: “I will free…I will deliver…I will redeem…I will take you.” There is no other Deliverer for Israel—or for us, as stated in Isaiah 43:11, “I, yes, I Am (ADONAI), aside from me there is no deliverer.” The Israelites would “see” YHVH, the LORD (ADONAI) as their Redeemer. Prophetically, this attribute would be fulfilled in Christ through His work on the cross as noted throughout the New Testament writings.

Supreme Court poised to end ‘constitutional revolution’ that’s marred US governance for 40 years
|
|
|
hen Justice John Paul Stephens issued his 1984 opinion in Chevron U.S.A. v. National Resources Defense Council, he started what legal scholar Gary Lawson later called “nothing less than a bloodless constitutional revolution.”
At long last, on Wednesday, the Supreme Court will hear two cases that may signal the beginning of the end to that revolution.
Article I of the Constitution explicitly directs that “All legislative Power herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States,” not regulatory agencies.
Yet Justice Stephens’ opinion found that “agenc[ies] may . . . properly rely upon the incumbent administration’s views of wise policy” in “reasonably” defining statutory ambiguities.
The legal doctrine that Chevron spawned became known as Chevron deference and former President Ronald Reagan’s White House counsel, Peter Wallison, pointed to it as “the single most important reason the administrative state has continued to grow out of control.”
The Supreme Court may end a trend set by Justice John Paul Stephens in 1984. Eric Kayne/ZUMA Press Wire / SplashNews.com
Forty years of regulatory and judicial tumult has ensued, finally crescendoing to a point that has compelled the Supreme Court to intervene. (New York Post) Read more here.
- Father, we pray for the administrative bureaucratic agencies (aka alphabet-soup agencies) to be brought under the authority of the people's elected legislative representatives in Congress. We declare an end to the overreach of their regulations, strangle-hold on our freedoms, bloated budgets and excessive employees, in Jesus name. We pray that the Supreme Court would find in favor of legislative authority over administrative authority in the highest levels of government, and all would be subject to the Constitution of the United States. Amen.

Biden's latest rule poised to upend key sector of U.S. economy
|
|
|
The Biden administration’s new labor rule will likely increase costs for employers and restrict Americans’ freedom to choose when and where they work, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Through the new rule, which goes into effect on March 11, the Department of Labor is reclassifying many workers who were previously classified as independent contractors to company employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938, thereby entitling them to benefits like overtime pay and a minimum wage, according to the DOL. The rule will severely hamper the flexibility afforded by many freelancing positions and could push many current employees out of work entirely as regulators crack down on the gig economy, according to experts who spoke to the DCNF.
“The consequence is that it gives regulators new powers to micromanage businesses that rely on contract labor and the workers who choose to be ‘independent contractors’ — the latter just being a fancy term for ‘freelancer.'” Sean Higgins, a labor policy expert at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the DCNF. “It gives the regulators the power to say that freelancers are not in fact freelancers and can only be hired as regular employees. In which case, many simply will not get work at all because many employers — so-called ‘gig economy’ ones in particular — use a business model that doesn’t involve having large numbers of regular employees.”
“Over half of the millions of freelancers in the U.S. are women,” Patrice Onwuka, director of the Center for Economic Opportunity at Independent Women’s Forum, told the DCNF. “They overwhelmingly choose independent contracting over employment for flexibility to balance important priorities such as raising children and caring for aging parents or sick spouses with work.” (World Net Daily) Read more here.

- Almighty God, we declare this administration will cease and desist from obstructing the citizens from gainful employment of their choice, in Jesus name. We pray that the upcoming Chevron case at the Supreme Court will protect individual people in their job choices and the stranglehold of the administrative state will be broken legally, in the natural and in the spiritual, in the name of Jesus. We speak freedom over the 64 million freelancers in the United States and pray for them to be informed and stand against those who would willingly destroy the legal sources of income. Amen.
- "This they shall have for their pride, Because they have reproached and made arrogant threats Against the people of the Lord of hosts. The Lord will be awesome to them, For He will reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; People shall worship Him, Each one from his place, Indeed all the shores of the nations." NASA, Lockheed Martin Reveal X-59 Quiet Supersonic Aircraft
|
|
NASA and Lockheed Martin formally debuted the agency’s X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft Friday. Using this one-of-a-kind experimental airplane, NASA aims to gather data that could revolutionize air travel, paving the way for a new generation of commercial aircraft that can travel faster than the speed of sound.
“This is a major accomplishment made possible only through the hard work and ingenuity from NASA and the entire X-59 team,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy. “In just a few short years we’ve gone from an ambitious concept to reality. NASA’s X-59 will help change the way we travel, bringing us closer together in much less time.”
Melroy and other senior officials revealed the aircraft during a ceremony hosted by prime contractor Lockheed Martin Skunk Works at its Palmdale, California facility.
The X-59 is at the center of NASA’s Quesst mission, which focuses on providing data to help regulators reconsider rules that prohibit commercial supersonic flight over land. For 50 years, the U.S. and other nations have prohibited such flights because of the disturbance caused by loud, startling sonic booms on the communities below. The X-59 is expected to fly at 1.4 times the speed of sound, or 925 mph. Its design, shaping and technologies will allow the aircraft to achieve these speeds while generating a quieter sonic thump.
“It’s thrilling to consider the level of ambition behind Quesst and its potential benefits,” said Bob Pearce, associate administrator for aeronautics research at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “NASA will share the data and technology we generate from this one-of-a-kind mission with regulators and with industry. By demonstrating the possibility of quiet commercial supersonic travel over land, we seek to open new commercial markets for U.S. companies and benefit travelers around the world.” Read More

Mother credits Massachusetts pro-life center with saving her children from abortion
|
|
A Massachusetts mother recently shared her testimony of experience with pro-life pregnancy centers, saying that she “will never forget” their role in her choosing life in two difficult pregnancies. Marie Smith, who lives in Braintree, Massachusetts, with her two sons, wrote in a December 22 article in The Federalist that she “owe[s] it all to my local pregnancy resource center” that she can provide for her two children. “Homeless and jobless at 20 years old, I feared I would never be able to afford the necessary items for my unborn child and was left thinking abortion was my only option,” Smith wrote. Thanks to a cousin who worked at the Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices, the young mother “ultimately sent in an application and soon received the phone call that welcomed me to the center. It changed my life—and my two sons’ lives—forever. Despite my young age, there was no judgment among the staff at the center. I was empowered within my situation and experienced love and kindness I had never known before,” she said.
Smith explained that, after having an abortion at age 16, the positive impact of the pro-life pregnancy center had “pulled me out of a very dark state.” As a teenager, she went to Planned Parenthood “to talk about my options” and was told she “absolutely had” to kill her child, despite her strong desire to keep the baby. Smith recalled wondering if abortion was her only option and how she would “never” have had an abortion “if someone had shown me another path” and expressed that “it is something I regret to this very day. The weight of my lost child dragged me into a pit of depression and despair; yet the contrasting experience at Boston Center for Pregnancy Choices left me refreshed and confident, cheery, certain I could do this.” Smith shared that she “thrived” upon “the staff becoming my family” and “saving my life and my son’s life.” She was also given parenting, breastfeeding, car safety, nutrition, and “father and me” classes through the center. "Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name."

We praise Thee, O God!
For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died,
And is now gone above.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again.
We praise Thee, O God!
For Thy Spirit of light,
Who hath shown us our Savior,
And scattered our night.
Refrain
All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain,
Who hath borne all our sins,
And hath cleansed every stain.
Refrain
All glory and praise
To the God of all grace,
Who hast bought us, and sought us,
And guided our ways.
Refrain
Revive us again;
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above.
Refrain
