Consumers could be in a 'world of hurt' if Biden doesn't act soon, former Walmart CEO warns
Mass layoffs are plaguing more than just the Big Tech industry.
On Sunday, former Walmart CEO Bill Simon joined "Fox & Friends Weekend" to warn Americans of the detrimental impact that corporate layoffs could have on the U.S.'s feeble economy.
It's crazy right now. We're stuck in this loop of wage inflation, product inflation and cost inflation. And it's just that cycle keeps going. And I think, unfortunately, an inevitable byproduct of some of the Fed's moves and as the necessary medicine we have to take to kind of cool things down and get the inflation back under control on some of these layoffs that are coming," Simon told co-host Will Cain.
Although the labor market remains healthy and one of the few bright spots in the economy, there are signs that it is beginning to soften. In addition to a number of high-profile tech layoffs over the past month, the economy added 223,000 jobs in December, the smallest gain in two years.
Federal Reserve officials have said they expect unemployment to climb as a result of their aggressive interest rate hike campaign. Updated projections from the central bank's December meeting show that officials expect unemployment to rise to 4.6% by the end of this year, up from the current rate of 3.5%. - Lord, we pray that You will intervene in this situation and bring about a wave of repentance. Let nothing be done that is not in Your perfect will for Americans. You are Jehovah Jireh, our provider.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Russia urges Israel not to arm Ukraine - JNS

(February 1, 2023 / JNS) Russia on Wednesday warned Israel against arming Ukraine, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated he was considering providing military assistance to Kyiv and was willing to mediate.

“We say that all countries that supply weapons [to Ukraine] should understand that we will consider these [weapons] to be legitimate targets for Russia’s armed forces,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, reported AFP.

“Any attempts —implemented or even unrealized but announced for the supply of additional, new or some other weapons—lead and will lead to an escalation of this crisis. And everyone should be aware of this,” Zakharova said. (Read more)

2. Ukraine to Receive 120-140 Tanks in ‘First Wave’ of Deliveries – Minister - Algemeiner

Ukraine will receive 120 to 140 Western tanks in a “first wave” of deliveries from a coalition of 12 countries, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Tuesday.

Kyiv secured pledges from the West this month to supply main battle tanks to help fend off Russia’s full-scale invasion, with Moscow mounting huge efforts to make incremental advances in eastern Ukraine.

“The tank coalition now has 12 members. I can note that in the first wave of contributions, the Ukrainian armed forces will receive between 120 and 140 Western-model tanks,” Kuleba said during an online briefing. (Read more)

3. Chad to open embassy in Israel, Mossad played central role - World Israel News

The central African republic of Chad is set to open an embassy in Israel Thursday, four years after Chad and Israel agreed to restore diplomatic relations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Chad President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno in Jerusalem Wednesday ahead of the embassy opening ceremony.

Netanyahu hosted Mahamat Déby at the Prime Minister’s Office, lauding the transitional president for continuing his father’s efforts to strengthen ties with the Jewish state.

Mahamat Déby became transitional president last year, after his father, Idriss Déby, was killed by rebel forces as he inspected troops on the frontline in western Chad.  (Read more)

1. 'Queer theory is not Black history' | Gov. DeSantis addresses nixing AP African American studies course - 10 Tampa Bay

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis continues making national headlines. His administration drew the ire of many last week after it pulled the plug on a proposed advanced placement African American studies course. Speaking at a Jacksonville charter school Monday, DeSantis answered questions for the first time about why the course was canceled.

"In Florida our education standards do not prevent, but require teaching Black history ... that’s part of our core curriculum. This (AP African American studies) was a separate course for advanced placement credit." DeSantis said at Duval Charter School at Baymeadows during a news conference on teacher salaries. He called the proposed course "indoctrination, not education."

The state Department of Education on Friday released a statement about its decision to cancel the course which stated in part, “as presented, the content of this course is inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” The department also cited the inclusion of political literature from many Black scholars, feminists, writers and activists. Other topics in the proposed course at odds with the department include reparations and intersectionality, according to FDOE. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray that truth will be promoted by those who make decisions regarding what our students learn: parents, teachers, school board members, State Board of Education members, state legislators, governors, and others. We pray that our students will be equipped to understand the times and know what they, and our nation, should do.

- “…who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.”               (1 Chronicles 12:32)

2.  Colorado baker loses appeal over refusal to make gender transition cake - Reuters

A Colorado baker who had won a narrow U.S. Supreme Court victory over his refusal to make a wedding cake for a gay couple on Thursday lost his appeal of a ruling in a separate case that he violated a state anti-discrimination law by not making a cake to celebrate a gender transition.

The Colorado Court of Appeals agreed with a trial judge that Masterpiece Cakeshop and the bakery's owner, Jack Phillips, violated Autumn Scardina's rights by denying her service because of her identity as a transgender woman.

Lawyers for the baker, who was fined $500, had argued that he refused service based on his sincere Christian beliefs and that forcing him to make a cake celebrating a gender transition would violate his free speech rights under the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment. (Read more)

- Lord God we know that what is happening to Jack Phillips is unfair, but we ask you God to give him and us patience, faith, and love. We declare a successful appeal that would protect the freedom to live out our faith. And we also pray for those who are opposing the Lord that they would come to know you and your Truth. Amen.

- “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” (Luke 6:27)

3. 10 Million 2022 California Ballots Unaccounted For, Report Finds - Daily Signal

California may have disenfranchised millions of voters in the 2022 primary and general elections, according to a new report from the Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity watchdog group.
The report found that 226,250 mail ballots were rejected for various reasons, while election officials failed to account for millions more.

The 2022 midterms marked the first election held since the California Legislature passed and Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 37, which required automatically mailing ballots to all active registered voters in the nation’s most populous state.

Election officials failed to account for the 10 million ballots for multiple reasons, according to the legal foundation’s report. (Read more)

- Lord God this news is so discouraging. But despite the discouragement, give us courage to still get out and vote and make our voices known no matter who tries to stifle it! We pray against all corruption and evil, that would try to suppress peoples' voices from being heard with their vote. We pray that they would be exposed in Jesus' name.

- “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20)

4. Walz signs 'fundamental right' to abortion into state law - Fox 9 News

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed legislation Tuesday guaranteeing abortion access in state law, which puts Minnesota among the first states to implement new abortion protections since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year.

The law creating a "fundamental right" to abortion takes effect Wednesday, making it harder for a court to roll back Minnesota's existing abortion protections. Abortion is already a protected right in Minnesota because of a 1995 state Supreme Court decision in Doe v. Gomez. Democrats see a law change as a backstop in case the court ever reserves itself.

The abortion issue has dominated the first four weeks of the legislative session after Democrats took control of all three levers of state government in the 2022 election. Abortion was a top issue in the election after the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Roe, and Democrats said the election results showed voters agree with abortion protections. (Read more)

- Lord God, even though states have the right to make their own laws and do what seems best in their eyes, we still grieve that they would choose to celebrate and reward such evil. We pray for all the Saints that live in Minnesota, Lord, that you would light a fire inside of them to keep standing strong and advocating for truth. We pray the blood of Jesus over Minnesota, that they return back to you Lord, in Jesus name amen.

- "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:58)

5. US forces intercept thousands of assault rifles, ammo, anti-tank missiles from Iran - Fox News

The U.S. has seized thousands of rifles and nearly two dozen anti-tank missiles originating from Iran and transported via shipping routes.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported Tuesday that CENTCOM officials — in cooperation with international naval partners — successfully intercepted the transport of over 3,000 rifles from Iran to Yemen.

The area in which the illegal weapons smuggling was discovered has been a historic route for trafficking. (Read more)

- Lord we take a spiritual battle axe and we cut at the root of this trafficking route and all the evil it has produced. We say to it: "Catch fire and be gone in Jesus name!" We thank you Lord this evil has been revealed out. Amen.

- “Though they plan evil against you, though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.” (Psalms 21:11)

6. FBI concludes search for classified documents in Biden’s beach home - DML News

Bauer said, “The DOJ’s planned search of the President’s Rehoboth residences, conducted in coordination and cooperation with the President’s attorneys, has concluded. The search was conducted from 8:30 AM to noon. No documents with classified markings were found.”

He continued, “Consistent with the process in Wilmington, the DOJ took for further review some materials and handwritten notes that appear to relate to his time as Vice President.”

Reporter Philip Melanchthon Wegmann tweeted Wednesday, “The FBI search of Biden’s Rehoboth home has concluded and, per the president’s personal attorney, no classified documents were found. That attorney notes, however, DOJ took materials and handwritten notes from Biden’s time as VP ‘for further review.'” (Read more)

- We thank you, Lord, that you hate corruption and so we pray that all corruption would be exposed and come to light, and that the American public would know the truth, and that righteousness and Justice will reign in this matter, in Jesus name, amen.

“There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”  (Isaiah 48:22)

7. Chinese Companies Are Buying American Military Academies, Lawmaker Warns - Free Beacon

Chinese firms with ties to the Chinese Communist Party have in recent years purchased American military academies that operate military officer training programs.

In 2015, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which serves as the Chinese Communist Party's political advisory board, purchased Donald Trump's alma mater, the New York Military Academy, for $16 million dollars. Conference member Mo Tianquan secured the purchase after a bidding war with another Chinese conglomerate.

Two years later, a Chinese education conglomerate purchased the Florida Preparatory Academy as part of its plan to create "a global educational alliance system." The organization partnered with a CCP-controlled regional government agency on the initiative. Both the New York Military Academy and Florida Preparatory Academy operate Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) programs, which train future military officers. Rep. Michael Waltz (R., Fla.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, says Chinese ownership of these schools could pose a national security threat. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray that our representatives will take this national security threat seriously. We pray, Lord, that these kinds of purchases would be regulated or prohibited, as we do not understand how foreign countries have been able to come in and purchase and acquire so much of our land, schools, and supplies. We don’t know the root of all this evil but you do Lord, so we just take a battle axe and cut at the root of this scheme so that these plans are null and void in Jesus' name, amen.

- “No weapon that is formed against you will prosper…” (Isaiah 54:17)

8. Fed Hikes Benchmark Rate by 25 Basis Points, Signals More Increases to Come - Brietbart

The Federal Reserve continued its campaign to bring down inflation by approving an increase in its benchmark interest rate of one-quarter of a percentage point, saying it anticipates further increases in the future.

Officials agreed Wednesday to lift the federal funds rate to a range between 4.50 percent and 4.75 percent, the highest since 2007.

“The Committee anticipates that ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate in order to attain a stance of monetary policy that is sufficiently restrictive to return inflation to 2 percent over time,” the Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) said in a statement. - Lord God, I just pray for supernatural provision, for all of your people all over the United States, that no matter what is going on in the world financially, your supply never runs dry. We choose to put our trust in You who is never changing. We thank you that you are rich in mercy, grace, and that  You supply all our needs according to your riches and glory, in Jesus name, amen.

- “The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord.” (1 Kings 17:16)

Stupidocrisy: The Howard Dean Scream

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, February 1, 2023

It’s like a voice from the deep dark past of the annals of political history. Former Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean is back in the news. In 2005, Dean continuously pounded George W. Bush, Republicans and “white Christians” for not defending or protecting America. Of course, that was during the “war on terror,” translated “Islamic aggression.” Dean parroted the very same propaganda, almost word for word, that al Qaeda’s Osama bin Laden and Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad put before the American people in videos and letters. Dean also promoted “communitarianism,” a form of communism where it’s ok to worship God so long as God doesn’t supplant the state. Now Dean’s at it again.

Dean claimed Tuesday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” with Ari Melber that some Republicans meant the country “harm,” saying, “These people are essentially authoritarians. They will say whatever it takes. They’re not that different from Putin. And they like Putin. These are dangerous people.,,there are people in that Congress who mean America harm…Having these people on television, I mean, you can have them on once in a while, but I wouldn’t give them much of a platform because they mean evil for the country.” So Dean is saying that Republicans want to do the country harm, they are authoritarians, and that the news media shouldn’t give them a platform because they mean “evil for the country.” Read More

NASA to Air Live Coverage of Spacewalk
for Power System Upgrades

Two astronauts aboard the International Space Station will conduct a spacewalk Thursday, Feb. 2, to continue the installation of hardware for future power system upgrades. The spacewalk is scheduled to begin at 8:15 a.m. EST and last about six and a half hours.

The agency will provide live coverage of the spacewalk beginning at 6:45 a.m., on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.

On Feb. 2, NASA astronaut Nicole Mann and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Koichi Wakata will exit the station’s Quest airlock to complete installation of a mounting platform on the 1A power channel as part of a planned solar array augmentation on the starboard side of the station’s truss.

The duo will complete the installation of the mounting platform that was started during a spacewalk on Jan. 20, relocate and install an articulating portable foot restraint from the P6 truss for future spacewalk tasks, and if time permits, complete cable routing on the 1B power channel.

The installation is part of a series of spacewalks to augment the station’s power channels with new International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays (iROSAs). Four iROSAs have been installed so far, and two additional arrays will be mounted to the installed platforms during future spacewalks following their arrival this year on NASA’s SpaceX 28th commercial resupply services mission. Pro-Life Dad Acquitted,
Federal Jury Rejects Gov't 'Intimidation Against Pro-Life People'
Pro-life dad Mark Houck, who was arrested in a terrifying FBI home raid, has been acquitted in federal court. After the verdict was announced, Houck embraced his wife while roughly two dozen supporters in the courtroom wept tears of relief. Houck and his family later prayed outside of the Philadelphia federal courthouse. "I thank you, Lord. When two or more are gathered in your name, you are there in our midst. Your spirit is here," he prayed.

Houck's defense team won their victory at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in the case of United States of America v. Mark Houck. "We are, of course, thrilled with the outcome," stated Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President & Head of Litigation. "Mark and his family are now free of the cloud that the Biden administration threw upon them. We took on Goliath - the full might of the United States government - and won. The jury saw through and rejected the prosecution's discriminatory case, which was harassment from day one. This is a win for Mark and the entire pro-life movement. The Biden Department of Justice's intimidation against pro-life people and people of faith has been put in its place," Breen said. (CBN) Read More
