Supreme Court Asks Special Counsel to Respond to Trump Presidential Immunity Appeal
|
|
Chief Justice John Roberts has requested that the Justice Department (DOJ) respond to former President Donald Trump’s attempt to assert presidential immunity in his ongoing Jan. 6-related case in D.C.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit had just rejected President Trump’s attempt to overturn Judge Tanya Chutkan’s refusal to dismiss DOJ’s prosecution based on presidential immunity. Justice Roberts’ Feb. 13 request comes less than a week after the justices heard President Trump’s appeal a Colorado ruling that he was disqualified from appearing on the state’s ballot.
With a deadline of Feb. 20, the Court’s request points to a broader urgency for the judicial system to address relatively untested questions of law that could impact the 2024 presidential election.
President Trump criticized the appellate court in his Feb. 12 filing, arguing that it provided a tight timeline for asking the Supreme Court for relief before requiring Judge Chutkan to resume her pre-trial proceedings.
Judge Chutkan indefinitely postponed the scheduled trial date of March 4, which is looking increasingly unlikely amid the former president’s various appeals.
In requesting the Supreme Court’s intervention, President Trump’s brief noted that his “claim that Presidents have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for their official acts presents a novel, complex, and momentous question that warrants careful consideration on appeal.” (The Epoch TImes) Read more here.

US, Arabs Rushing Plan to Establish Palestinian State

The proposal depends on a hostage deal that would include a pause in fighting in Gaza

The Biden administration is preparing to make a major push for Palestinian statehood if a Gaza ceasefire agreement being negotiated in Cairo this week takes effect. According
to The Washington Post, the United States and its Arab partners are “rushing” to finalize the plan to establish a Palestinian state—a plan that could be announced in the next few weeks with hopes that a deal to release the remaining 134 hostages held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza in exchange for a six-week pause in fighting takes effect before Ramadan, which begins on March 10, give or take a day.
Negotiations in Cairo on a hostage-for-ceasefire deal have been extended until Friday. However, only lower-level officials are participating after Tuesday’s initial summit, which included high-ranking representatives from Egypt, Israel, Qatar and the United States. There is an urgency to reach an agreement because Jerusalem is readying for a major offensive in Rafah, the last Hamas stronghold in the Gaza Strip. While Israel is working on an evacuation plan for the 1.5 million civilians sheltered in the city ahead of the battle, fears are mounting in Western capitals about the toll the fighting could take on the noncombatant population.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday dismissed reports of progress in the Cairo talks, with his office issuing a statement saying that Jerusalem did not receive any new proposal from Hamas on releasing the hostages and that the premier “insists that Israel will not give in to Hamas’s delusional demands.” (Read more) |

We ask Holy Spirit to move on the minds and hearts of all world leaders whose hearts are set against your people, and shift their beliefs into alignment with Yours. We decree and declare that the covenant You made with Abraham, giving him the land of Israel, will not be broken again. Israel's National Security Minister Ominously Declares "This is War" After Hezbollah Unleashes a Barrage of Missiles
|

The countdown to a cataclysmic conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is rapidly picking up momentum. On Wednesday, a missile barrage that was unleashed by Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon hit multiple targets in northern Israel. If Hezbollah really wants peace like they claim that they do, they have a really strange way of showing it. It is being reported that this missile barrage “appeared to be the fiercest attacks from Lebanon since the confrontation began”…
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah intensified on Wednesday when Israeli towns and an army base came under what appeared to be the fiercest attacks from Lebanon since the confrontation began four months ago.
The assault, presumed to be carried out by Hezbollah fighters based in Lebanon, prompted Israeli fighter jets to launch extensive strikes on the Iran-backed group’s positions.
At one military base that was hit, a female IDF soldier was killed and eight other individuals were injured…
A female IDF soldier was killed and eight other people were wounded in Tzfat on Wednesday morning in a missile barrage fired by Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon in a clear escalation of the conflict launched on October 8th against Israel by the terror group.
Quite a few other targets in northern Israel were targeted as well…
Other areas in the Upper Galilee were targeted as well, including several IDF bases and the city of Kiryat Shmona, which has been attacked repeatedly since October 8th. The Red Alert incoming rocket siren was not triggered in Kiryat Shmona.
Some of the rockets were aimed at the headquarters of the IDF Northern Command, and some targeted the Meron radar base, Israeli media reported.
We have seen Hezbollah and the IDF exchange fire on a regular basis over the past few months.
But this time was different.
In response to this barrage, Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir ominously declared that “this is war”…
“This isn’t just a dribble anymore, this is war,” Israel’s national security minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, who’s long advocated a more aggressive stance against Hezbollah, said. “It is time to change the way we think.”

How the US and UN are Funding the Border Crisis

The United States is bankrolling its own “invasion” by funding the United Nations and its partners, which, in turn, give hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and aid to migrants who eventually cross the U.S. southern border illegally. While the U.N. has aided migrants for decades, the scope of its operation has dramatically expanded as the number of illegal immigrants—from at least 160 countries—into the United States has surged. That expansion has been fueled by more than $1 billion in funding from the U.S. government to the U.N. and other agencies assisting migrants, according to a government spending database.
“We’re actually funding our own border crisis,” Todd Bensman, senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, a “pro-immigrant, low-immigration” think tank, told The Epoch Times. “And it’s provided by, ultimately, the United States taxpayer.”
Until President Joe Biden took office, the United States had obligated about a half-billion dollars per year to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the U.N.’s migration arm. But that funding has skyrocketed under the Biden administration to nearly $1.3 billion in 2023—more than double what it had been under the Trump administration, according to USASpending.gov. - Abba, we thank you that you are bringing everything to light that has been hidden in darkness for so long. We ask you, Father God, to bring names and faces of those in our government who have been providing funding for international agencies who give aid to migrants helping them get into the US illegally. We ask that all funds used in that way be made public, so all Americans can see how the Biden regime has been spending our tax dollars unbeknownst to us, to fuel the invasion of our borders.
We ask that all US governmental officials, from the White House on down, who knowingly participated in this scheme be removed from their jobs and blocked from ever holding governmental positions again. Jesus, we ask that you stop this flow of money from the US. We ask you to redirect these funds into agencies in the US that are working to stop the influx of immigrants, to secure our borders. We ask this in the name, El Shaddai, God Almighty, the God who has ultimate power over all.

1. Netanyahu and Biden speak for the second time this week - Israel National News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Thursday evening with US President Joe Biden, their second conversation this week.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the conversation lasted about 40 minutes.
The conversation dealt with the negotiations towards a hostage release deal, the continuation of the fighting in Gaza and a possible Israeli operation in Rafah, and the US demand that humanitarian aid be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip.
Biden and Netanyahu previously spoke for about 45 minutes on Sunday. A senior administration official later told CNN that the two leaders discussed a deal to secure the release of hostages in Gaza at length. (Read more)

3. CIA chief meets Netanyahu, Mossad head in Israel amid hostage deal talks - Jerusalem Post
Central Intelligence Agency director William Burns met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad director Yossi Cohen in a secret meeting on Thursday night, according to Israeli media reports.
In a closed-door meeting at the Kirya base in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu spoke with the heads of both agencies and the Defense Ministry to discuss the best ways to maximize pressure on Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli sources.
Following a policy of "maximum pressure," Netanyahu discussed the need for strong military pressure and firm pressure in negotiations with Hamas, sources added.
Netanyahu also used the time to insist on a probe to identify whether or not the medication that needed to be delivered to Gaza hostages was actually delivered. (Read more)

4. IAF jets strike Hezbollah targets across south Lebanon - Times of Israel
The IDF says fighter jets carried out airstrikes against three buildings used by Hezbollah in the south Lebanon villages of Qantara, Yarine and Taybeh.
The IDF says another site belonging to the terror group in Labbouneh was also targeted.
The strikes come following rocket fire on northern Israel this evening, in attacks claimed by Hezbollah. (Read more)

5. Israeli Air Strike Eliminates Senior Figures of Hezbollah’s Elite Radwan Force - Jewish Press
An Israeli air strike eliminated a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and his deputy, the Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday.
The Wednesday night air strike on a building in Nabatieh came on the heels of a heavy Hezbollah rocket barrage on northern Israel. The rocket fire killed a 20-year-old soldier and injured eight others. Israel retaliated with a wave of air strikes on Southern Lebanon.
The IDF identified the commander as Ali Muhammad Aldbas and his deputy as Ibrahim Issa. Another Hezbollah operative was also killed in the strike.
Aldbas was among those who directed a terror attack at the Megiddo Junction in Israel in northern Israel in March 2023 which injured one Israeli. The IDF said Aldbas also planned and carried out other terror activities since October 7. (Read more)

Our government isn't serious about defending the United States and its interests. In fact, it has fallen woefully short in carrying out this sacred obligation. I know this sounds harsh, but as we'll see, the government's own numbers prove the point.
That our military is weak is not an indictment of the men and women who have volunteered to serve. It is an indictment of a system largely defined by the government and those elected to high office.
That includes senior military officers whose primary obligation should be to ensure that our men and women have what they need to win in war--which is, after all, the primary purpose of our military.
Yes, many people will say the purpose of a strong military is to deter war, but deterrence derives from the belief of the enemy that they would be defeated in battle. So if our military is at great risk of not being able to win ... well, it doesn't have much deterrent value.

You can look at Europe as the canary in the coalmine Rea Hederman of the Buckeye Institute’s Economic Research Center says.
As inflation remains stubbornly high, farmers throughout the West are warning that cost increases from the net-zero movement will drive food prices still higher, while putting many smaller farmers out of business.
January inflation numbers showed that prices increased by 3.1 percentover what they were a year ago, indicating that the fight against inflation, while progressing, has not been won. This adds to the more than 17 percent cumulative inflation rate between when President Biden took office in January 2021 and the end of 2023.

3. Chaos Reigns in the Streets of America as an Epic Crime Wave Terrorizes the Nation – The Economic Collapse blog
If you were hoping that the United States would become a lawless society, you have now gotten your wish. Some of the numbers that I am about to share with you are just mind blowing. For example, I had no idea that police in New York City were injured by criminals thousands of times last year. All over the nation, law enforcement is losing control and violent criminals are getting the upper hand. We have never seen anything quite like this before, and I am entirely convinced that this crime wave is only going to get worse as economic conditions deteriorate. Even in our capital city, crime is completely and utterly out of control. If you can believe it, the number of carjackings in Washington D.C. was up 97.9 percent last year… Police data show carjackings in the nation’s capital spiked by 97.9% in 2023 with 958 reported carjackings last year compared to 484 in 2022, with motor vehicle theft up 82% from 3,756 in 2022 to 6,829 in 2023. Vehicle theft in the greater Washington-Maryland-Virginia area also rose by 68% last year, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau.
Vehicle theft is even worse in some areas along the west coast.

Billionaire financier George Soros is set to take a controlling stake in the second-biggest radio company in America, after his investment firm snapped up a massive chunk of the radio firm’s debt that will be converted to stock after it exits bankruptcy.
Soros Fund Management, the investment firm founded by Mr. Soros, owns over $414 million of the highest-tier debt of Audacy Inc., a Philadelphia-based company that owns hundreds of radio stations, bankruptcy court filingsshow.
The Soros investment firm, which is listed alongside other Audacy lenders that are members of the “ad hoc first lien group,” is poised to have its debt converted into Audacy stock as part of a restructuring of the company. (Read more)

- Lord, what perfect timing to take over and control media output on hundreds of radio stations—during a presidential election year! But, Lord, You created the universe, including
sound waves and airways and You are well able to upset Soros’ radio-media ‘applecart’. We ask that if the transfer of ownership is not yet complete, that You would cause Soro’s attempt to take over Audacy to fail miserably. If it is complete, we pray for chaos within Soro’s investment firm and ask You to help the executives of the radio stations involved to desire and to find ways to broadcast the whole truth regarding issues and each of the candidates.
May voters use their God-given ability to think and choose based on undistorted information. We pray that no one or no group be able to ‘monopolize’ the media, and that freedom of speech, thought and action would prevail. 6. Joe Biden Thinks He Can Rewrite the Constitution After Urging Congress to Ban “Assault Weapons” in Wake of Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting – The Gateway Pundit
In a recent statement following a devastating shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade, President Joe Biden has called on Congress to enact stricter gun control measures.
Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves confirmed 22 people were shot, with one succumbing to her injuries. Hospitals told CNN that 19 of the 29 patients are being treated for gunshot wounds. Three individuals have been detained in relation to the shooting incident.
Joe Biden quickly seized the opportunity to politicize the tragic event.
In a statement, Biden urged Congress to ban “assault weapons, to limit high-capacity magazines, strengthen background checks, keep guns out of the hands of those who have no business owning them or handling them.” (Read more) |

- Lord God, we are aware that the far left would like to delete the second
amendment to our God-given Constitution, hoping to disarm the U.S. population
so we cannot defend ourselves. Then we are ripe for takeover in the New World
Order. We have seen this in Germany and communist nations. Lord, help us
continue to have the means to defend ourselves and defeat any measures that
would make guns illegal.
We agree that criminals and those who are mentally unstable should be unable to
own/use firearms and also pray that households with guns would keep them
safely locked away from children. May those children or adults in need of help--
red flags observed and reported--receive it. May tips and warning signs not go
unheeded.
We also ask that Biden soon be removed from acting as president. May that
critical office be re-filled only with the person of Your choosing. Lord, hear our
prayers and have great mercy.

8. PM Vetoes Further Cairo Negotiations on Hostages: War Cabinet Not Consulted – Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out sending an Israeli delegation for further hostage negotiations in Cairo, without consulting the war’s foremost decision-making forum, it was widely reported Wednesday.
The decision prompted outrage among representatives of hostages’ families, and reportedly angered war cabinet members Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot of the National Unity party, who met Wednesday evening to discuss their response after being kept out of several key decisions recently.

NASA Telescopes Find New Clues About Mysterious Deep Space Signals

Using two of the agency’s X-ray telescopes, researchers were able to zoom in on a dead star’s erratic behavior as it released a bright, brief burst of radio waves.
What’s causing mysterious bursts of radio waves from deep space? Astronomers may be a step closer to providing one answer to that question. Two NASA X-ray telescopes recently observed one such event – known as a fast radio burst – mere minutes before and after it occurred. This unprecedented view sets scientists on a path to better understand these extreme radio events.
While they only last for a fraction of a second, fast radio bursts can release about as much energy as the Sun does in a year. Their light also forms a laserlike beam, setting them apart from more chaotic cosmic explosions.
Because the bursts are so brief, it’s often hard to pinpoint where they come from. Prior to 2020, those that were traced to their source originated outside our own galaxy – too far away for astronomers to see what created them. Pediatrician Group Reveals Research Doesn’t Support ‘Gender Affirming’ Treatments for Children

The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) says allowing teens to transition genders socially or medically does not lead to better mental health outcomes for those struggling with gender dysphoria.
In an official position statement titled “Mental Health in Adolescents with Incongruence of Gender Identity and Biological Sex,” authors concluded, after reviewing more than 60 studies on the matter, that social transition, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones have no long-term benefit on the psychosocial well-being of adolescents with gender confusion.
“We urge medical professionals and parents to affirm the truth about childhood gender dysphoria in the presence of harmful thoughts and address the underlying mental illness, adverse events, and family dysfunction,” lead author of the position statement and Vice President of ACPeds, Dr. Jane Anderson said.
ACPeds has been pushing back against the pro-transgender message for many years.
In 2016, the group urged educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to believe that identifying with a gender other than their biological one is beneficial.
Their latest position statement also underscores studies that have already led many European countries to reject transgender interventions in adolescents.
