Joe Biden Threatens to Further Cut Deportations Unless Congress Funnels Billions to Border Crossers
|
|
President Joe Biden is threatening to further cut deportations of illegal aliens unless Congress approves billions for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) — much of which would fund the release of border crossers into the United States and those non-governmental organizations (NGOs) helping resettle them.
This week, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that Biden would consider gutting the number of deportations carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents unless the House and Senate passed billions in funds for DHS to more quickly get border crossers into the U.S. interior and the NGOs that aid the process.
“Because congressional Republicans are choosing partisan politics over our national security and refusing to pass the bipartisan national security agreement that includes significant border reforms and funding, over the coming weeks, ICE will be forced to reduce operations because of budget shortfalls,” Jean-Pierre said on Air Force One:
“We have asked Congress for additional funding and resources, and every time Congress has provided less than we asked for, or most recently, completely ignored our supplemental request.” [Emphasis added]
Jean-Pierre’s comments came after a bill from Sens. James Lankford (R-OK), Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ), and Chris Murphy (D-CT) went down in flames in the Senate. The bill, among other things, would have funneled countless billions of American taxpayer money to DHS and contracted NGOs to more efficiently get border crossers into American communities. Supreme Court Appears Poised to Back Trump in Ballot Challenge Case
|
|
The Supreme Court on Feb. 8 heard oral arguments in the high-profile case involving former President Donald Trump’s bid to remain on the Colorado primary ballot, expressing skepticism of the arguments in favor of removing him.
Lawyer Jason Clifford Murray, who argued for the six Colorado voters who petitioned to remove President Trump from the ballot, at times frustrated judges by sidestepping questions about the consequences of a ruling in his favor.
Article 2 gives states broad powers to run elections, Mr. Murray argued, and those powers involve removing ineligible candidates from the ballot—even in a national election—through the process of their choosing.
The justices expressed skepticism that a ruling affirming the Colorado decision would settle the matter.

Trump Glides to Victory in Nevada Caucus
|
|
Former President Donald Trump, as expected, cruised to victory in the Nevada GOP Caucus on Feb. 8, putting him one step closer to winning his party’s nomination.
The Associated Press called the race for Trump at 11:05 p.m. ET.
The former president faced no significant opposition in the contest. His sole remaining major challenger, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, opted to instead compete in a Nevada primary two days earlier that didn’t award any delegates. Ms. Haley suffered an embarrassing setback when voters overwhelmingly chose “None of These Candidates” over her in the Feb. 6 contest.
President Trump is now poised to sweep up all the state’s 26 delegates. He also is entitled to at least four delegates in the U.S. Virgin Islands caucus, held the same day as Nevada. In the Virgin Islands, he won 74 percent of the votes and Ms. Haley scored about 26 percent.
In Thursday’s Nevada caucus, the only other valid candidate was Ryan Binkley, a Texas businessman whose presidential run has barely registered. He earned less than 1 percent of the votes in last month’s GOP nominating contests in both Iowa and New Hampshire. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

1. Israel to send top delegation to Cairo for hostage talks with Egypt, Qatar, and US - Jerusalem Post
Israel plans to send a delegation next week to Cairo. The team will be led by Mossad Director Dedi Barnea, Shin Bet Head Ronen Bar, and retired Major General Nitzan Alon.
They are set to meet CIA Director Bill Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Director Abbas Kamel, and the Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani to deliberate on efforts to secure the hostages' release, as informed by two high-ranking Israelis.
An Israeli official source claimed that the decision to send the heads of the agencies depends on a "change of direction" in the hostage deal talks that Israel optimistically expects to take place. (Read more)

2. Feb. 10: UNRWA head pleads ignorance after Hamas data center found under agency’s HQ - Times of Israel
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, known by its acronym COGAT, hits back at UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini after he claimed the agency “did not know” of a Hamas top secret data center discovered under the Gaza headquarters of the UN body.
“Oh, you knew,” tweets COGAT, in response to Lazzarini’s long post denying any knowledge of the tunnel or the subterranean data center. The UNRWA head claimed that Israel has “not informed UNRWA officially” about the discoveries, and said UN staff left the Gaza headquarters four months ago as Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza, triggered by the October 7 Hamas killing spree.
“Digging a tunnel takes longer than 4 months. We invited senior UN officials to see, and during past meetings with you and other UN officials, we stated Hamas’s use of UNRWA’s headquarters,” COGAT writes. (Read more)

3. New US directive links military aid to human rights, including for Israel - Jerusalem Post
US President Joe Biden issued a memorandum linking American military aid globally to adherence to international humanitarian law, including for Israel, as he called the IDF’s military operation in Gaza “over the top.”
Forms of military aid could be suspended If reports of violations are found credible, according to the National Security Memorandum issued on Thursday night.
Countries receiving military aid have 45 days, by February 8, to assure the US that they would comply with the memorandum or risk a pause in the delivery of that aid.
The US secretaries of defense and state have 90 days to submit a report on whether military aid recipients are complying with international law. After that, such a report will be filed yearly. (Read more)

4. WATCH: IDF strikes Hezbollah rocket launch sites in Lebanon - Jerusalem Post
Several rocket launches toward northern Israel were identified on Friday, the IDF stated. The Israeli military responded with fire toward the sources of the launches.
IDF fighter jets struck a military site in which Hezbollah terrorists were operating in Maroun El Ras as well as three military compounds in the towns of Yohmor and Naqoura in southern Lebanon.

5. Moody’s lowers Israel’s credit rating, downgrades outlook from ‘stable’ to ‘negative’ amid war - Times of Israel
The US rating agency Moody’s announces that it has dropped Israel’s credit rating from A1 to A2 and has also downgraded the rating of its outlook for the future from “stable” to “negative,” as the war in Gaza enters its fifth month. (Read more)

1. Dem Sen. Murphy: The People We Care About The Most Are ‘Undocumented Americans’ In This Country- Breitbart
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) said Wednesday night on MSNBC’s “All In” that “undocumented Americans” were the people Democrats cared about most.
Anchor Chris Hayes asked, “From my 20 years covering this issue, the trade is this, They want more border security enhancement, Democrats want a path to citizenship. This time around, the negotiation didn’t have a path to citizenship. It was entirely on their terms in order to get Ukraine funding, right.”
Murphy said, “Well, I mean, Chris, that’s been a failed play for 20 years. So you are right that that has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country. This is also not 2013 any longer. When we ran that play last back then, there were a couple hundred people showing up every day applying for asylum. Today, on some days, there are 8,000. And the reality is, is that the bulk of this country does not think that that’s right or sustainable and wants us to change the reality at the border.”
He continued, “So I know there’s a temptation for Democrats, and I know you weren’t looking for this argument, but I think there is a temptation to just run the same play we always run because we know how to run it. But when it hasn’t worked and when the country is actually demanding that we do something to make the border more manageable, I do think we have a right and a responsibility to adjust to that reality. Now, this bill still had in it some really important things for migrant rights, including a right to representation and earlier work permits and the biggest expansion of visas in 30 years.” (Read more)

2. White House: Israeli Attack on Hamas in Rafah Would Be ‘Disaster’; ‘We Would Not Support It’ - Breitbart
White House national security spokesman John Kirby said Thursday that an Israeli attack on Hamas in Rafah, the last city in Gaza before the Egyptian border, would be a “disaster” under current conditions, and that “we would not support it.”
Rafah is the final stronghold of the Hamas terrorist organization, and is key to its control of the Gaza Strip because it allows Hamas to smuggle weapons underneath the border. It could also allow Hamas leaders to escape to Iran or elsewhere, with the hostages.
Israeli leaders have been saying for days that they are preparing to do so.
On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said — in both in Hebrew and English: “Our soldiers are now in Khan Yunis, Hamas’s main stronghold. They’ll soon go into Rafah, Hamas’s last bastion. They will do so, as they have done up to now, by providing the civilian population safe passage to safe zones, and they’ll do so in spite of Hamas’ evil attempts to stop the civilians from leaving at gunpoint.”
Nonetheless, Kirby told reporters at a White House briefing that the U.S. had no indication that Israel was preparing such an operation.
He said that an Israeli attack in Rafah would jeopardize the roughly one million Palestinian civilians who have fled the northern and central parts of the Gaza Strip. (Egypt does not let them leave, nor will any other Arab country offer them temporary refuge. The U.S. has not used its financial and military leverage with Egypt to convince the Egyptian government to change its mind.) [Read more here]

3. White House Reportedly Pressured Hur Behind Scenes To Take Out Passages On Biden’s Memory Lapses- Daily Caller
Behind the scenes, the White House reportedly pressured special counsel Robert Hur to take passages out of his report that discuss President Joe Biden’s memory and physical state, according to Politico.
Hur released his special counsel report Thursday which investigated Biden’s handling of classified documents though he declined to pursue criminal charges. The report notes that during an interview with the special counsel, Biden appeared to forget the timeline of his vice presidency and could not remember when his late son died. Ahead of the release of the report, the White House was reportedly in the dark about what the final copy would say but hoped their efforts to reach Hur ahead of its release would force edits, Politico reported.
“Hur did not indicate whether he would make any changes,” a person familiar with the process told Politico. (Read more)

4. No State Constitutional Right to Carry a Firearm in Public: Hawaii Supreme Court- The Epoch Times
Hawaii’s Supreme Court has ruled that the state does not provide a constitutional right to carry firearms in public, a deviation from the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision that affirmed such a right.
In December, Christopher Wilson was charged with a felony for violating three gun laws in Hawaii. Two of these laws restrict the possession of firearms and ammunition to the owner’s residence or business. A third law, HRS Section 134-9, authorizes the chief of police in each county to issue licenses for carrying firearms.
Mr. Wilson’s legal team moved to have the charges dismissed, arguing that prosecuting him for possessing a firearm for self-defense purposes outside his home violated his right to bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article 1, Section 17 of the Hawaii Constitution.
In August 2022, a circuit court judge granted Mr. Wilson’s motion to dismiss the charges. It agreed that regulations restricting firearms to Mr. Wilson’s business or residence violated his right to keep and bear arms.
On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Hawaii reversed the circuit court decision. (Read more)

5. Members Of Congress Demand DC Medical Examiner Preserve Five Bodies Of Late-Term Aborted Babies – Daily Caller
Members of the House of Representatives demanded that the Washington D.C. Medical Examiner’s office preserve the bodies of five late-term aborted babies after the Department of Justice (DOJ) allegedly gave the green light to dispose of the evidence, according to a Thursday letter.
Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) announced Monday that the DOJ ordered the bodies of five babies found in toxic waste containers outside of the Washington Surgi-Center in Washington in 2022 to be disposed of, despite repeated calls for an investigation, according to a video posted on YouTube. Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas and Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona sent a letter to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Chief Pamela Smith of the D.C. Police Department arguing that it was still unclear if the babies had died during or after the abortion and asked that the bodies be left alone for further investigation.
“Serious questions remain about the circumstances of these children’s deaths. This situation demands congressional oversight, and you have already received requests from Congress to preserve evidence in this case,” the letter reads. “If partial-birth abortions were conducted on these unborn children, that is a violation of federal law and should be investigated as such. However, if the evidence in this case is destroyed, any future investigation will be severely hampered. We urge you to reconsider the decision to dispose of the remains of these children and request that you confirm you will comply by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024.” (Read more)

6. Biden’s Two-State Solution to Reward Palestinian Terrorism, Destroy Israel – ProphecyNewsWatch.com
In the span of two days, both the US administration and the British government came out with similar statements that they are considering recognizing a Palestinian state. The statements send a message to the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group and other Palestinians that the Americans and British want to give them a prize for the October 7 attack on Israel in which 1,200 Israelis were murdered, decapitated, raped, tortured and burned alive.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has asked the State Department to conduct a review and present policy options on possible US and international recognition of a Palestinian state after the current Israel-Hamas war, the American Axios media outlet reported on January 31. According to the report:
"The Biden administration is linking possible normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia to the creation of a pathway for the establishment of a Palestinian state as part of its post-war strategy. This initiative is based on the administration's efforts prior to Oct. 7 to negotiate a mega-deal with Saudi Arabia that included a peace agreement between the kingdom and Israel." (Read more) |

7. The Drug That Shall Not be Named: Joe Rogan and Aaron Rodgers Discuss – Vigilant News
Ivermectin is often recognized – 2nd to penicillin – for having the greatest impact on human health. Its discovery even won the Nobel Prize. But the propagandists told you it was a “dangerous horse dewormer.”
Now, why would they do such a thing?
Because ivermectin’s existence threatened a multi-hundred billion dollar vaccine enterprise. The COVID shots forced upon the world would not be able to exist if ivermectin was shown to be effective.
The Emergency Use Authorization states:

9. Trump Prosecutor Lied About Affair With Fani Willis: Court Filing - The Epoch Times
Trump co-defendant Michael Roman filed a motion on Friday identifying a witness who could testify that Fulton County’s district attorney and a prosecutor she hired began a romantic relationship before they pursued the election case, refuting sworn testimony.
In the 122-page filing, Mr. Roman’s lawyer said a former associate of prosecutor Nathan Wade would refute the prosecutor’s timeline of his relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
Mr. Wade and Ms. Willis recently admitted under oath to having a “personal relationship,” which Mr. Wade said began after the election case began in 2022.
However, this timeline will be refuted by Terrence Bradley, a lawyer and member of the Georgia Bar who is a former associate of Mr. Wade, according to the filing.
Mr. Bradley, who the filing asserts has “non-privileged, personal knowledge,” will testify that the alleged relationship began in January 2021, before Ms. Willis was sworn in as Fulton County’s district attorney.
Adding a layer of complexity to the matter, Mr. Bradley at one time represented Mr. Wade in his divorce. (Read more)

Shocking Opposition Victory Throws Pakistan Into Chaos

The party of Imran Khan, the jailed former prime minister, took the most seats, humiliating the country’s military rulers and creating a political crisis.

The party of the imprisoned former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, won the most seats in parliamentary elections this week, delivering a strong rebuke to the country’s powerful generals and throwing the political system into chaos.
While military leaders had hoped the election would put an end to the political turmoil that has consumed the country since Mr. Khan’s ouster in 2022, it has instead plunged it into an even deeper crisis, analysts said.
Never before in the country’s history has a politician seen such success in an election without the backing of the generals — much less after facing their iron fist.
In voting on Thursday, candidates from Mr. Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, or P.T.I., appeared to win about 97 seats in the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, the country’s election commission reported on Saturday. The military’s preferred party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, or P.M.L.N., led by a three-time former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, won at least 73 seats, the commission said. Subterranean facility for terror group’s intelligence needs, beneath UN complex in upscale Rimal neighborhood, discovered after interrogations of Palestinian prisoners
Beneath the Gaza Strip headquarters of the controversial United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, known commonly as UNRWA, the Hamas terror group hid one of its most significant assets, the Israeli military has revealed.
The subterranean data center — complete with an electrical room, industrial battery power banks and living quarters for Hamas terrorists operating the computer servers — was built precisely under the location where Israel would not consider looking initially, let alone target in an airstrike.
The revelation of the server farm comes amid other accusations of UNRWA collusion with the Gaza-ruling terror group and the entanglement of the UN body that provides welfare and humanitarian services for Palestinian refugees from the 1948 and 1967 wars and their descendants.
Israel last month accused 12 staff with the UN Palestinian refugee agency of taking part in the October 7 massacre by Hamas-led terrorists, who killed 1,200 people and took 253 hostages in the murderous rampage.

Netanyahu orders plan for evacuation and military action in Gaza’s Rafah

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the IDF and the defense establishment to bring to the war cabinet a plan for both the evacuation of civilians in the south Gaza city of Rafah and the neutralization of the four Hamas battalions therein, the Prime Minister’s Office stated on Friday.
It is impossible to achieve the goal of the war without eliminating Hamas, and by leaving four Hamas battalions in Rafah," the statement noted. "On the contrary, it is clear that intense activity in Rafah requires that civilians evacuate the areas of combat." (Jerusalem Post) Read more here.

CA atmospheric river storm update: Death toll rises to 9 in California storms as mudslides ravage Los Angeles

The death toll has increased to nine people during a massive, atmospheric river-driven storm in California as public officials warned people it was too soon to let their guard down.
The storm, which has unleashed biblical proportions of rain this week, was expected to continue until Thursday or Friday.
Four people were killed by falling trees, the California Office of Emergency Management said. Three were killed in vehicle collisions in the Bay area, and another fatality was due to a vehicle being swept away in a flood channel. One person lost their life by trying to cross the US-Mexico border via the Tijuana River.
Search and rescue crews are looking for a US Marine Corps helicopter which disappeared en route to San Diego on Tuesday night as the severe storm battered the region. The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, which had five Marines on board, was reported “overdue” after it failed to arrive at Miramar Air Station from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Public officials warned residents to be prepared for more rain and mountain snow on Wednesday afternoon and evening. More than 400 landslides have sent thick rivers of mud through the streets of Los Angeles leaving an unknown number of homes and vehicles badly damaged. Read More

Deep in the capital of Lebanon, thousands of Christians recently gathered together to praise Jesus in a first-of-its-kind, one-night worship experience that organizers say became "a beacon of hope and joy" for the Middle East. "Beirut 2024" was an ecumenical musical event that brought together believers from different Christian faith traditions to worship God and instill hope in its attendees. The event was held on January 20 as part of celebrations for the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and the 50th anniversary of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC). The MECC organized the gathering and estimated that about 10,000 people were in attendance.
According to the "Beirut 2024" website, the celebration was an event that sought to "glorify the Lord by showcasing the Holy Spirit's manifestation in the Church's worship across ages." With escalating tensions in the Middle East, leaders also decided to hold a "unique prayer meeting" to unite "diverse Churches in praise, fostering unity as outlined in Ephesians 1. Additionally, it symbolized a beacon of hope and joy for Lebanon (specifically in Beirut) and the wider Middle East. It is an opportunity to pray for peace in Lebanon and repentance for its people," the website shares. "It enables people to contemplate the musical manifestation of the Holy Spirit throughout the history of mankind. Beirut 2024, is a moment of heavenly grace, hope and joy," it continued.
