As 'In God We Trust' Returns to US Classrooms, Here's How It Became Our Official Motto
|
|
Over the past few years, a movement has sprung up to remind Americans of our national motto in a variety of settings from public school buildings to law enforcement vehicles. One of the latest examples this year was in West Virginia where the legislature voted to require state schools to display "In God We Trust." When asked if the move was constitutional, state Del. Tom Fast told West Virginia Watch, "This is our national motto, 'In God We Trust,' and it has been litigated, and it has been upheld. We can display our national motto in public schools and in our higher education institutions."
The move in West Virginia came after Louisiana passed a law last year that requires the U.S. national motto to be displayed in every public school classroom. Other states that have adopted similar policies in recent years include Texas and South Dakota. The national motto is so ingrained in society, you'd think America's national motto has been around for centuries. The phrase was inspired by the fourth verse of the national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner", which includes the line, "And this be our motto: 'in God is our trust.'" While the motto made its first appearance on U.S. coins in 1864, during the Civil War, it wouldn't be declared the official national motto until much later. (CBN) Read More Here

- Abba, we celebrate 'In God We Trust" displayed in classrooms throughout West Virginia, Louisiana, Texas and South Dakota! Pour Your BLESSINGS upon these states for honoring the Lord within their educational institutions. May this public display of acknowledging our trust in God ignite a fire across our nation for each state to do the same. We declare in Jesus Name that public displays of faith in God will return throughout all of society, declaring God Almighty as the true ANCHOR and HOPE for America! By the Blood and Mighty Name of Jesus Christ our LORD-Amen and Amen.

House Democrat staff member fired following
Capitol Police arrest
|
|
Michael Hopkins worked for Rep. Joe Morelle of New York
|
|
A House Democratic staff member has lost his job after allegedly trying to bring ammunition into the Cannon House Office Building this week.
Michael Hopkins, the 38-year-old communications director for Rep. Joe Morelle, D-N.Y., was arrested Monday morning by the U.S. Capitol Police.
"In response to this morning’s incident, Mr. Hopkins is no longer employed by Representative Morelle’s office effective immediately," Jo Stiles, Chief of Staff to Rep. Morelle, said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.
Capitol Police told Fox News on Monday that "At approximately 8:45 a.m., a House staffer entered the Cannon House Office Building and put his bag through screening. USCP officers noticed what appeared to be ammunition on the x-ray screen."
"After a hand search of the bag, officers found four ammunition magazines and eleven rounds of ammunition. The staffer told the officers that he forgot the ammunition was in the bag," the statement continued. (Fox News) Read more here.

|
Father, we are thankful this situation was benign and stopped in its tracks, in Jesus name. While there is likely a simple explanation, we are thankful that every potential was nipped in the bud. We pray for this staffer who promptly lost his job and we put him into your hands, in Jesus name.

Hunter Biden’s pardon sets troubling precedent, risks politicizing Justice Department, critics say
|
|
Pardon goes against president's earlier promises, risks undercutting DOJ's integrity, critics say
|
|
President Biden faced mounting criticism Monday for the "sweeping" pardon of his son, Hunter Biden, with critics citing fears that it could be used by Trump to further his views of a "politicized" Justice Department and erode the role of the judiciary as an important check on executive power.
In a statement announcing the pardon, Biden took aim at what he described as a politically motivated investigation.
"No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong," the president wrote.
That Biden used his final weeks as a lame duck president to protect his only living son from prosecution was met with less shock among legal analysts than was the sheer breadth of the pardon itself, which spans a nearly 11-year period beginning in January 2014, the year Hunter was appointed to the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, and ending on Sunday, the day that the White House announced the pardon.
While that time frame includes both the federal firearm and tax evasion convictions that Hunter was convicted of this year, experts say the scope of the pardon could go much further by extending to any actions committed for more than a decade, virtually ensuring the president's son cannot be held accountable for any activity conducted during that period. |
Just Judge, this matter involving Hunter Biden clearly will extend to the entire Biden family and it is unclear at this point, the extent to which they will all be protected or implicated under this pardon. We pray as we watch the experts expound on the many potential variables and outcomes that could be influenced by this. We know that Joe Biden is also seeking to cover his own tracks for these ten years and pray Father, for justice, in Jesus name.
"For I know your manifold transgressions And your mighty sins; Afflicting the just and taking bribes; Diverting the poor from justice at the gate. Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time. Seek good and not evil. That you may live; So the Lord God of hosts will be with you, As you have spoken." (Amos 5:12-14)

Trump promises 'hell to pay' in Middle East if hostages are not released before he takes office
|
|
Trump's threat came days after Hamas released a video showing an Israeli-American hostage pleading for his release
|
|
President-elect Trump promised there would be "all hell to pay" if the hostages being held captive by Hamas are not released prior to when he takes office on Jan. 20.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said nothing was being done to free those being held by the Iran-backed terror group since Oct. 7, 2023, after Hamas attacked Israel and killed at least 1,200 people and kidnapped at least 250 others.
At least seven of the hostages are Americans.
"Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violently, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire World, in the Middle East – But it’s all talk, and no action!" Trump wrote.
"Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity," Trump added.
On Saturday, Hamas released a video of an Israeli-American hostage pleading for his release.
The footage shows Edan Alexander, 20, covering his face and crying. He was abducted by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023. (Fox News) Read more

Thank You Warrior King for putting a backbone and courage into President Trump and that America has the means and wherewithal to follow through on this declaration of trouble. We agree with our President that every single hostage needs to be released from Hamas ASAP or else those responsible will see justice established in their gates and tremble at the power thereof, in Jesus name. Mighty God, we pray for Your continued protection and provision for the hostages. Strengthen them, feed them, heal them so that on the day of their release they can walk out of captivity with the knowledge that You, Holy One of Israel, have walked with them through this horrific experience and they can tell of Your glorious presence, in Jesus name.

Philippine President Says Russian Submarine Near His Country ‘Very Worrisome’
|
|
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed concerns on Dec. 2 about a Russian submarine that allegedly entered his country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea.
“All of that is very concerning. Any intrusion into the West Philippine Sea, of our EEZ, of our baselines is very worrisome,” Marcos told reporters in Marikina City, according to a statement from the Philippine Presidential Communications Office. An EEZ generally extends 200 nautical miles around a nation.
A Russian Kilo-class submarine, identified as “UFA-490,” was sighted 80 nautical miles off the western province of Occidental Mindoro on Nov. 28, Philippine Navy spokesperson Roy Vincent Trinidad said in a statement.
In response, the Philippine Navy dispatched a missile frigate. The vessel was able to establish radio communication with the Russian submarine, which confirmed its identity, the Armed Forces of the Philippines said in a statement on Dec. 2, according to the state-run Philippine News Agency.
The outlet also cited remarks by Jonathan Malaya, assistant director general of the Philippine National Security Council, who said that the Russian submarine was not in Philippine territory and was exercising freedom of navigation. He said the Russian vessel immediately identified itself when it received a radio challenge. The Russian submarine then left the area for its base in Russia on the same day, according to Malaya.
Trinidad said the exchange with the Russian submarine was friendly, according to the outlet.
“The Russian vessel stated it was awaiting improved weather conditions before proceeding to Vladivostok, Russia,” Trinidad said. (The Epoch Times) Read more

King Jesus, we thank You for alerting the Philippine military to the troubles from Russia, just outside their marine boundaries and that their government took prompt action. We pray for them to all stay strong and on duty because they are in a vulnerable region of the Pacific. We pray for Russia (and China) to cease and desist their antagonistic forays around the waters of other countries, in Jesus name. May they both be held accountable for pushing the limits and agitating others, and may they be unable to gain any intelligence from their efforts, in Jesus name.
"Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect." (Psalm 33:8-10)

1. Netanyahu praises Trump for threatening ‘all hell to pay’ if Hamas doesn’t release hostages - JNS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday for the latter’s “strong statement” calling on Hamas to release the 101 hostages it has held in Gaza for 424 days.
“It is a forceful statement, which makes it clear that there is only one responsible for this situation, and that is Hamas,” the Israeli premier said.
Netanyahu addressed the president-elect’s remarks ahead of an Israeli government meeting in Nahariya, a northern city that has often been the target of cross-border attacks by Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon over the past 14 months.
“Hamas needs to release the hostages,” Netanyahu said. “President Trump put the emphasis in the correct place, on Hamas, and not on the Israeli government, as is customary in some places.” (Read more)

2. Hamas Responds to Trump Threat to Unleash ‘Hell’ on Terror Group if Hostages Not Freed by His Inauguration - Algemeiner
Hamas has responded to US President-elect Donald Trump’s warning that there will be “all hell to pay” in the Middle East if the Palestinian terrorist group does not release all of the remaining hostages in Gaza before his inauguration next month, claiming that Israel has “sabotaged” several potential ceasefire deals and should be held responsible for perpetuating the ongoing war.
On Monday, Trump vowed to take strong action if the hostages kidnapped during Hamas’s invasion of southern Israel last Oct. 7 who remain in captivity are not freed quickly.
“Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violently, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire World, in the Middle East – But it’s all talk, and no action!” Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social. “Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity.”
“Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!” he added.

3. Judges okay moving Netanyahu testimony to Tel Aviv amid concerns for his security - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will take the stand in his corruption trial next week in an underground courtroom in Tel Aviv due to security issues with holding the hearings in Jerusalem, the judges in the premier’s corruption trial ruled Tuesday.
The decision was announced a day after the Shin Bet and Courts Administration recommended temporarily moving the trial to the Tel Aviv District Court, as they sought an alternative for inadequate protective measures available at the Jerusalem District Court.
Netanyahu is set to begin testifying on December 10 after a series of delays stemming from the prime minister’s administration of the war against Hamas in Gaza and, until last week, against Hezbollah in Lebanon. (Read more)

5. IAF hits Hezbollah after terror group fires mortars at Mount Dov - JNS
The Israeli Air Force struck Hezbollah terrorist assets across Lebanon on Monday night in response to the Iranian proxy’s firing of two mortar shells across the border hours earlier in violation of the Nov. 27 ceasefire.
Among the targets of the strikes was the launcher used in the Har Dov attacks, in the area of Berghoz in Southern Lebanon. Dozens of other launchers were also hit, along with Hezbollah terrorists and infrastructure, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
“Hezbollah’s launches tonight constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. 1. DOJ Revisits Effort to Censor Trans Children’s Hospital Whistleblower Eithan Haim - Daily Signal
The Department of Justice filed a reply on Tuesday supporting its motion for a gag order against Dr. Ethan Haim, a surgeon indicted by the Biden administration after he blew the whistles on sex change procedures for minors.
“The prosecutors in @eithanhaim’s case are doubling down on their shameless effort to ask the court to censor us and our client on @X,” the Burke Law Group, which is representing Haim, said on X. “We will continue to zealously represent @EithanHaim’s liberty, and now his (and our) First Amendment right to Free Speech.”
Haim initially came forward as an anonymous whistleblower to expose gender treatments being performed on minors at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. He is facing four felony counts of violating the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA, according to journalist Chris Rufo, who first reported on Haim’s story.
The reply in support of its motion for a gag order said the order would “prevent the defendant and his attorney from making inflammatory and and unfairly prejudiced statements.” (Read more)

- Holy One, this issue of mutilating our children must be stopped, so we bind it now, in Jesus' Holy name. We loose truth from whistleblowers, parents and truth-tellers upon every arena in which children are being used for medical experimentation like animals, in the Mighty name of Jesus. We pray for the message of this whistleblower to be shouted from every housetop, city to city across this nation. We also declare that the Supreme Court of this land will be completely in one accord to protect the physical health and sanctity of children and safeguard their parents' authority, in Jesus name. May they demand that the medical facilities and practitioners cease and desist every iota of transferring gender experimentation upon children immediately, in the name of Jesus or face imprisonment.

2. 'De-banking' alarm sounded: Feds running secret program to spy on your money - WND
A new report from the Institute for Justice is warning Americans that their banks – and the federal government – secretly are spying on their money, their spending habits, their banking accounts and more. With the punishment up to and including closing those accounts if the owner strays from what the government approves. Such as shopping at specific retailers, or making cash deposits just under $10,000.
The institute explained, "Most Americans have no idea their financial accounts are being monitored. And that's by design. The same federal law that mandates this surveillance also prohibits banks from telling customers about these reports." That means the first indication that a consumer may have about a government bureaucrat's issue with their activity is when their accounts are closed.
Other suspicious activities include regular cash deposits or withdrawals, overseas transfers, donations to "controversial" groups, purchases at gun shops or shopping at Dick's Sporting Goods or Cabela's.And it gets worse, the IJ explained: "These surveillance laws more broadly harm Americans by creating a vast database of financial information that is susceptible to abuse by bad actors both within and outside government." That's because federal, state and local – even foreign – agencies are given access to the reports without any warrant. (Read more)

Mighty God, we call for greater exposure and full repudiation of this unrighteous legislation against American citizens, in the name of Jesus. We pray for the new Congress and newly appointed authorities to be informed and to take very strong action against this unjust spying on our banking and spending life. We are free citizens, with inalienable rights given to us by You God, and protected by the 4th Amendment. Therefore, we bind and push back against this tracking and data collection of we, the people, in Jesus name.
"May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things, Who have said, 'With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; Who is lord over us?' 'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise,' says the Lord; 'I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.'" (Psalm 12:3-5)

3. PRAY FOR DANIEL PENNY! Jury Deliberations Begin in Case Against New York Subway Hero – Facing Up to 15 Years in Prison - The Gateway Pundit
The trial of Daniel Penny is nearing its conclusion as the jury has been sent to deliberate the case. Deliberations are set to begin on Tuesday in the case against Penny, the Marine veteran who bravely protected fellow customers during an incident on the New York City subway in 2023.
The trial, which began in November and has involved 40 separate witnesses, relates to charges brought by New York prosecutors claiming that Penny committed manslaughter and reckless homicide in the death of Jordan Neely. Neely, a homeless man and convicted criminal, was threatening other passengers on the subway when Penny stepped in and placed him in a chokehold in order to subdue him. Neely later died as a result of the incident.
A career criminal, Neely had previously been arrested 42 times and had a reputation as a serious troublemaker. On one occasion, he even pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping after dragging a seven-year-old girl down a road. (Read more)

Holy One, we bring the jury before You so that they can hear Your heart in this matter, in Jesus name. We believe that Daniel Penny was securing a deadly dangerous situation and the individual who lost his life contributed to his tragedy by threatening to kill a mother and her small child and had drugs in his system. We bind every effort at goading a racially-motivated outcome in this matter. We pray for justice to be honorable with integrity, in Jesus name.

4. Missouri's Life Battle Isn't Over: Voters Tricked Into 'Unrestricted, Taxpayer-Funded Abortion'? - CBN
Voters in seven out of ten abortion-related initiatives on November ballots across the U.S. decided to lift restrictions and enshrine abortion rights, including Missouri's Amendment 3. Missouri was the first state to ban abortion in 2022 after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade via its trigger law. Now, the passage of Amendment 3 has reversed that ban, prompting passionate reactions from both sides of the issue.
Brian Westbrook of Coalition Life criticized the measure saying, "Amendment 3 is more extreme than California, Illinois, or New York. It would be the most extreme abortion law on the books in the entire nation."
Pro-life groups are turning to Missouri's Republican-controlled state legislature, where Amendment 3 is expected to dominate the agenda in January. State Representative Justin Sparks is poised to lead efforts to counter the new law. Sparks plans to challenge presumed House Speaker Jon Patterson, who previously stated that lawmakers should respect the voters' decision. Sparks, however, believes voters were misled.
"The voting public only sees 50 words on the ballot," Sparks explained. "After people voted, interviews showed overwhelmingly that most people thought Amendment 3 was about contraception, in vitro fertilization, or ectopic pregnancies. Most had no idea that we were talking about unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortion." (Read more)

Holy King, this election outcome is a travesty; heartbreaking and disgusting. We have all seen how bills and amendments can be worded in such a cagey fashion that people who are not well-versed in "legalese" or patient readers can easily vote to pass something they strongly disagree with. We pray for strength for Representative Sparks to take the gavel in the legislature and be able to galvanize all legislators to put a halt to Amendment 3 and the schemes of Planned Parenthood against the righteous citizens and unborn babies of Missouri, in Jesus' holy name.
"'And he [the priest] shall say to them, "Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.'" 5. JUST IN: Wisconsin Judge Enforces Subpoena Against ActBlue in Lawsuit Over Fraudulent Use of Information for ActBlue Finance Money Laundering AKA “Smurfing” - The Gateway Pundit
A Wisconsin judge has approved a subpoena for documents requested in an October lawsuit alleging nearly 400 incidents of identity theft to make fraudulent donations to Democratic campaigns through ActBlue “smurfs.” This could open the door for a range of ongoing investigations into the ActBlue fundraising platform.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported on the lawsuit alleging racketeering and identity theft filed by the America First Policy Institute on behalf of Plaintiff Mark Block. Block, a long-time Republican political strategist, alleged that his personal information was used over the previous five months to launder money 385 times to 62 different campaigns and political organizations, including 35 donations to the Harris Victory Fund, through the Democratic ActBlue fundraising platform. This comes after he discovered receipts for ActBlue contributions sent to his pseudonymous email address using the same fake name.
"While these fraudulent donations average out to a very small $3.24 per transaction, they conveniently fit into a loophole created by Federal Election Commission (FEC) reporting requirements," the initial complaint states.
During a November 21 hearing, Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Brad D. Schimel approved a limited demand for documents to show to what extent fraud was used to make these donations. “Something is not right,” said Judge Schimel. "Plaintiff has set forth enough in their complaint and in support of their subpoena to demonstrate that there may be something here." (Read more)

Holy King, we cry out for exposure, revelation and the truth being shouted from every housetop about this corrupt and devious organization which has worked diligently to obscure their likely fraudulent election activities, in the name of Jesus. It has recently come to light across the country that this organization has their fingers in many elections where seemingly unrighteous deeds of one sort or another have taken place. We pray for this judge who has a gut feeling in the matter and is willing to speak up and take action to investigate further. We pray that the ActBlue house of cards falls apart and their entire program is fully exposed and laid bare for prosecution, in Jesus name.
"Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. My defense is of God, Who saves the upright in heart." (Psalm 7:9-10)

6. 'Literally unprecedented': Democrat-appointed judges 'unretiring' because Trump won election - WND
Two Democrat-appointed judges have decided to "unretire" following President-elect Donald Trump's landslide victories, in both the popular vote and the Electoral College vote.
And their actions have prompted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican whose party soon will be the Senate majority, to warn about the active politicization of the judiciary.
He called the announcements by the two judges, one appointed by Bill Clinton and the other by Barack Obama, an indication of "a political finger on the scale." He said the incoming Trump administration, backed by GOP majorities in the Senate and House should "explore all available recusal options with these judges."
Under the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris regime over the last four years, the administrative state in Washington has been weaponized in multiple ways against Trump, Republicans and conservatives. One report showed 70% of education enforcement actions against colleges targeted the 10% of institutions that are Christian. Further, the FBI and DOJ openly assembled wild claims against Trump, such as that he improperly had government documents after his first presidency. In contrast, Biden was given a pass for having literally boxes of such documents in his garage after his vice presidency.
The judges who abruptly changed their retirement plans following Trump's victory, which would mean a Republican president would nominate their replacements, were Judge Algenon Marbley of Ohio and Judge Max Cogburn of North Carolins. (Read more)

Mighty God, we pray that these judges will be compelled to step aside after all, in Jesus name. We also stand with Sen. McConnell in proclaiming that no other judges will rescind their retirement plans in order to interfere with the free exercise of President Trump in his official capacity, in Jesus name. We bind and rebuke the deep state actors and declare they will fail in their efforts to defeat Almighty God, His righteousness and our covenantal relationship with Him, in Jesus name.
"How long, O you sons of men, Will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness And seek falsehood? Selah But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him." (Psalm 4:2-3)

Only the Beginning of Law Fare
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 3, 2024
With unconstitutionally-appointed special prosecutor Jack Smith dropping his unjust lawfare suits against President Donald Trump, many people are celebrating the end of lawfare. In reality, it may be just the beginning unless there are consequences. The precedent has been established that powerful political actors in government and the court system can systematically ruin a dissenting citizen using nongermane laws. If Smith, Department of Justice officials, Democratic Party appointed judges and the politicians that ran interference for them get away with this legal persecution of Trump, the rule of law has no more integrity than a communist kangaroo court. These people must be held accountable.
Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, the FBI, and the Democratic Party conspired to use the secret FISA Court to spy on Trump’s 2016 campaign and they made up a story about Russian collusion on the 2016 election interference. This unjust and illegal action prompted a two-year, $32 million taxpayer investigation that resulted in nothing against Trump. Then the same actors impeached Trump on baseless charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over Trump colluding with Ukraine to influence the 2020 election. Trump was acquitted. Then these same people impeached Trump again for incitement of insurrection. Trump was acquitted. These actors were just trying to prevent Trump from running again for President. Read More

US Navy shoots down Houthi missiles targeting US-flagged commercial ships in Gulf of Aden

Two Navy destroyers were escorting commercial ships off the coast of Yemen.

Two U.S. Navy destroyers shot down incoming Houthi missiles and drones that were targeting three U.S.-flagged commercial ships that the destroyers were escorting in the Gulf of Aden, the U.S. military said.
There was no damage to the ships involved, the U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, said in a statement. There were no injuries, the statement said.
The destroyers, the USS Stockade and the USS O'Kane, shot down "a range" of Houthi-launched weapons while traveling through the gulf on Saturday and Sunday, CENTCOM said.
"These actions reflect the ongoing commitment of CENTCOM forces to protect U.S. personnel, regional partners, and international shipping, against attacks by Iran-backed Houthis," the command said in a statement.
The Houthis launched over the weekend three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three attack drones and an anti-ship cruise missile, all of which were defeated, the Navy said.
CENTCOM in a press release, which was dated Dec. 1, did not identify the civilian vessels that had been targeted. (ABC News) Read more here.

South Korean president lifts martial law after lawmakers reject move
|
|
|
The demand for the lift came less than three hours after South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law
|
|
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol lifted his martial law declaration after lawmakers rejected the move following Yoon's vow to eliminate "anti-state" forces in a serious challenge to the country's Parliament, which he accused of sympathizing with North Korea.
The Tuesday night declaration was vocally opposed by the speaker of Parliament and even the leader of Yoon's own party, Han Dong-hoon, who has clashed with the president over his handling of recent scandals, Reuters reported.
Shortly after Yoon made his announcement, people began gathering outside the Parliament building, some of them shouting: "Withdraw emergency martial law!" while scuffling with troops. Under South Korean law, the president must lift martial law if the Parliament demands it with a majority vote.
All 190 lawmakers who participated in the vote supported the lifting of martial law. Television footage showed soldiers who had been stationed at Parliament leaving the site after the vote.
Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was monitoring the situation and that U.S. forces were in close contact with their South Korean counterparts.
"The U.S. government writ large is in contact with the Republic of Korea," Ryder told reporters.
Ryder was not aware of any changes to any force posture for the 28,500 U.S. service members stationed in the country. (Fox News) Read more here.

Abba, we give You praise that the political tension created by South Korea's President, Yoon Suk Yeol's imposing Martial Law, has ended. The Korean Parliament voted, declaring the law invalid, rejecting military rule. Father God, we ask You to move on the hearts of all involved in this governmental upheaval, speak peace and a willingness to negotiate. Jesus, call Your intercessors to prayer in the Spirit over these circumstances, allowing Your hearts desire to be accomplished in South Korea. We ask this in the name Jehovah Shalom, The Lord Our Peace.
"Deceit is in the hearts of those
who plot evil, but those
who promise peace have joy."
