Ex-Supreme Court Clerk Issues Warning After
Trump Ruling

A former U.S. Supreme Court law clerk claimed Wednesday that the high court will likely rule against the Colorado Supreme Court decision to bar former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state's 2024 ballots.
Earlier this week, the Colorado high court ruled that the former president is disqualified from being on the ballot in the state because of his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach. The 4–3 ruling, which is based on a reading of a provision in the Constitution's 14th Amendment, is likely to be taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court, some analysts have noted.
The ruling applies only to Colorado's March 5 Republican primary but it could affect President Trump's status in the state for the Nov. 5 general election. Nonpartisan U.S. election forecasters view Colorado as safe for Democrats, meaning that President Joe Biden will likely carry the state regardless of President Trump's fate there.
Chris Landau, a former law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and the late Justice Antonin Scalia, said the Colorado ruling is "lawfare" and was one of "the most antidemocratic decisions we have seen in American history—that four unelected judges on a state Supreme Court have taken it upon themselves to disqualify someone who otherwise meets all the qualifications of the Constitution."
Speaking to Fox News this week, Mr. Landau said he is confident that the U.S. high court will overturn the Colorado Supreme Court ruling after "[taking] one look at it."
"It is terrifying to me as an American that this kind of lawfare is being waged, that courts are so presumptuous that they think it's up to them to decide who can be on the ballot to let democracy work," he added, saying that a judge's opinions should not result in landmark rulings such as this.
"Why are these people so terrified that they're bending all the rules to get Trump off the ballot? Let the people vote," he stated. (The Epoch Times) Read more here

The 9 Senate Races to Watch in 2024

Next year's competition for control of the U.S. Senate will be a critical battle as Democrats defend more seats than Republicans.
The Democrats currently control the upper chamber by the slimmest of margins, 51–49.
Whoever wins the Senate will control the legislation before the floor, as well as accept or reject judicial and executive nominees, who help shape policy.
Democrat strategist Mark Mellman predicts the Democrats could keep the Senate if the GOP puts up the same candidates that lost in crucial races in 2022. But, he told The Epoch Times, things are up in the air until the primaries are over.

CDC: New COVID-19 Variant Now Dominant Strain Across US

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a recent update that the new COVID-19 variant JN.1 is continuing to spread across the United States, having nearly doubled in the past two weeks or so.
The agency said on Dec. 22 that JN.1 is continuing “to cause an increasing share of infections and is now the most widely circulating variant in the United States,” adding that it’s now about 39 percent to 50 percent of all COVID-19 variants, whereas JN.1 amounted to about 15 percent to 29 percent two weeks ago.
“JN. 1’s continued growth suggests that the variant is either more transmissible or better at evading our immune systems than other circulating variants. It is too early to know whether or to what extent JN.1 will cause an increase in infections or hospitalizations,” the CDC said. “We’re also seeing an increasing share of infections caused by JN.1 in travelers, wastewater, and most regions around the globe,” it added.
COVID-19 activity across the U.S. is “elevated and increasing” but “not dramatically,” the CDC said. Historical data shows that the current rash of COVID-19 infections across the country is smaller than previous years’ increases.
Days before, the U.N.’s World Health Organization (WHO) listed the COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 as a “variant of interest,” but it noted there is currently no evidence suggesting it’s more severe or a significant health risk.
Due to “limited evidence” that is currently available, the U.N. agency said that the variant “may cause an increase in SARS-CoV-2 cases amid a surge of infections of other viral and bacterial infections, especially in countries entering the winter season,” referring to the virus that causes COVID-19.
The latest CDC update comes as the agency’s director, Dr. Mandy Cohen, said that people who are sick should “please stay home.” However, she did not repeat the CDC’s recommendations during the pandemic that everyone should stay home regardless of whether they’re sick or not.
“Avoid spreading germs to others, especially your loved ones who are at higher risk of getting very sick. Also, get tested, so you know what you have and can get treatment,” she said on X. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

An Upside-Down World: FB Permanently Disables FB Account of Christian Man Who Complained Against Pro-Hamas Terrorist Posts

A friend of mine, who wishes to remain anonymous, (so I will call him George), phoned me this evening to tell me what happened to him with Facebook. He is a Christian, and years ago, he moved from an Arab country to the United States to have a life of greater freedom. He speaks and reads both English and Arabic fluently. He has a “friend” on Facebook who is a Physician in Saudi Arabia, Mahmoud Al Araby.
Mahmoud would post on Facebook daily with posts in Arabic that were inciting violence against Israel and the IDF, such as:
“Here is the news today! Your heroes (Hamas terrorists) killed 10 IDF soldiers today!” and
“The media is lying. We are making headway in Gaza! We are winning the war against the IDF!”“Today 20 IDF soldiers were trapped in one of the Gaza tunnels. Our heroes came out of nowhere and shot and killed them! Allah Akbar!”
So, my friend, George, who reads Arabic, reported this abusive content to Facebook, complaining to them that this person is promoting violence and incitement on the Facebook platform. This is a clear violation of their Community Standards. Certainly, we can all agree that Hamas is a dangerous terrorist organization, right? You would think that this is a clear violation of Community Standards on Facebook, right?
Not so! After doing a review of George’s complaint, Facebook came back to him and told him that Mahmoud Al Araby’s posts were within Facebook Community standards.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, today (Tuesday), at the Kirya in Tel Aviv, visited IDF Intelligence Unit 9900.
At the start of the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed by Unit Commander Brig.-Gen. S on the main points of the visual intelligence efforts in the fighting in Gaza, the intelligence gathering technologies of the various strata, and the international cooperation in this field. Brig.-Gen. S also reviewed how the information gathered by soldiers in the field is used.

2. IDF announces death of 3 additional soldiers from Gaza fighting - Israel Hayom
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday released names of six soldiers killed in Gaza.
Their death raises the ground operation's toll up to 161. Capt. (res.) Shaul Gringlick, 26, from Ra'anana, an officer in Battalion 931, the Nahal Brigade, fell in battle in the north of the Gaza Strip. Major Shay Shamriz, 26, from the center of Shapira, company commander in the 931st Battalion, the Nahal Brigade, was killed in battle in the north of the Gaza Strip.
Major (resp.) Maor Lavi, 33, from Sosiya, a fighter in the 450th Battalion, Bislah Brigade, fell in the battle in the Gaza Strip, 33 years old in the fall. Earlier today, three other fallen soldiers were announced. Two were killed in southern Gaza while another soldier died out of wounds after fighting in northern Israel. (Read more)

Evacuated residents from northern Israel on Monday issued a harsh call to the Biden administration to prevent Hezbollah from carrying out a massacre similar to the Hamas attack on Israel’s south on Oct. 7, saying that the Iran-backed terror group in Lebanon must be forced to retreat further away from the border.
In a letter to US President Joe Biden and senior administration officials, Lobby 1701, a civilian organization representing the residents of northern Israel, called on the US to give “its full support to the government of Israel to act with the necessary force” to safeguard the north.

Relatives of Israelis held hostage in the Gaza Strip booed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he spoke at the Knesset plenum on Monday, after he declared that, despite making “every effort” to bring kidnapped Israelis home, doing so requires “military pressure” to succeed.
“We won’t stop fighting,” Netanyahu stated during a special session of the Knesset focused on those abducted by Hamas on October 7, but “we need time.”
“We don’t have time,” one relative called out in response from the Knesset gallery, after which the families chanted “Now! Now! Now!” demanding the immediate release of the hostages. (Read more)

5. IDF carries out ‘wide-scale’ airstrikes on Hezbollah as rockets from Lebanon hit north - Times of Israel
The Israel Defense Forces said it carried out “wide-scale” strikes against Hezbollah targets Sunday after barrages of rockets from Lebanon targeted multiple communities in northern Israel.
The IDF said fighter jets hit military buildings, rocket launchers, and other infrastructure belonging to the Iran-backed terror group in response to the rocket attacks. It also said it opened fire to “remove threats” at several areas along the border.
Cross-border attacks from Lebanon have persisted since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7, when the Palestinian terror group carried out a devastating assault. (Read more)

1. Caravan of up to 15,000 migrants set to crash US border as Blinken prepares to travel to Mexico - New York Post
A fresh wave of up to 15,000 migrants is set to crash into the already flooded US southern border as Secretary of State Antony Blinken prepares for a dire state visit to Mexico later this week.
Hailing mostly from Cuba, Haiti and Honduras, the newly formed caravan of about 8,000 asylum-seekers began its march through Mexico to the border days before Blinken’s meeting with Mexican President Andres Lopez Manuel Obrador to discuss surging illegal immigration.
Defiant radical migrant-rights activist Luis Garcia Villagran, who is accompanying the group, predicted that staggering number could swell to 15,000 people by the time it reaches the border. “We won’t stop — we’ll keep walking,’’ he vowed. Departing from the southern Mexican city of Tapachula, the throng began its journey Christmas Eve. 2. NYC moves to 'level three' police mobilization as pro-Palestine supporters storm Manhattan - The Daily Mail
Pro-Palestine protestors clashed with NYPD officers in ugly scenes in New York City as Christmas Day was marred by demonstrations against Israel in several US cities. The NYPD confirmed to DailyMail.com it has moved to 'Level Three' police mobilization to combat the protests. A number of arrests are believed to have been made, however the number could not be confirmed as the situation is 'ongoing.'
Level three mobilization is the second highest alert level in the NYPD, meaning all special units are called into action and squad cars are sent out from every command center in the city.
Reports indicate several police officers have been injured in the melee, but the extent of their injuries are unclear.
Footage from the streets of Manhattan showed furious protestors facing off with a large police presence, with the crowds heard earlier in the day chanting, 'Long live the intifada.'
Demonstrators also descended on the homes of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan as they marked the holiday season with their families inside.
In one clip shared to social media, protestors filled the opulent Washington neighborhood of the Defense Secretary as they sang: 'Austin, Austin, rise and shine, no sleep during genocide.' (Read more)

3. Iranian leaders say Israeli missile strike killed senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps adviser - Fox News
Iran's state media says an Israeli airstrike outside Damascus in Syria on Monday killed an Iranian senior adviser in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Reuters reported that three security sources confirmed the death of Sayyed Razi Mousavi, who was responsible for coordinating a military alliance between Iran and Syria.
State television interrupted programming to announce the death of Mousavi and described him as one of the oldest advisers for the IRGC in Syria. The announcement stated that Mousavi accompanied Qassem Soleimani, the head of the IRGC's elite Quds Force, who died in a U.S. drone attack in Iraq in 2020.
Hossein Akbari, Iran’s ambassador in Damascus, told state television that Mousavi was in the embassy as a diplomat and that he was killed by missiles fired by Israel after returning home from work. The assassination was a show of Israel’s weakness, according to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. (Read more)

4. US retaliates after 3 American service members injured by Kataib Hezbollah attack in Iraq - Fox News
Three U.S. service members were injured in Iraq on Christmas Day when Kataib Hezbollah terrorists attacked Erbil Air Base, according to Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin. Austin announced late on Monday night that American forces "conducted necessary and proportionate strikes on three facilities used by Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated groups in Iraq."
"These precision strikes are a response to a series of attacks against U.S. personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-sponsored militias, including an attack by Iran-affiliated Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated groups on Erbil Air Base earlier today, and intended to disrupt and degrade capabilities of the Iran-aligned militia groups directly responsible," Austin said in a press release.

5. ICE nabs more than two dozen illegal immigrant sex predators, some with child sex offenses, in LA - Fox News
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) this week arrested 26 illegal immigrant sex offenders in a two-day operation in California, while the U.S. continues to face an escalating migrant crisis, which has diverted resources to the border.
The more than two dozen foreign nationals were arrested between Monday and Wednesday, and the operation focused on those identified as having criminal convictions for sex offenses.
Those arrested included child sex predators, including a 40-year-old Mexican who had been convicted in California for felony lewd acts with a child, and continuous sexual abuse.
Agents also took into custody a 35-year-old Guatemalan convicted of felony child molestation and a 19-year-old Salvadoran convicted of felony sexual forcible oral copulation of a minor over 14 and battery by restraint. (Read more)

7. Sen. Susan Collins Pushing Gun Control for U.S. Troops - Breitbart
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is putting together legislation to require the U.S. military to adhere to state-level red and yellow flag laws for troops. A red flag law allows family, friends, and others, to seek a court order to have guns removed from someone they view as a danger to himself or others. A yellow flag law is more narrow, allowing law enforcement to seek the court order for firearm removal.
Collins bill comes in response to the October 25, 2023, Lewiston, Maine, attacks, which were carried out by a member of the U.S. Army Reserve.
Maine has a yellow flag law, but although police were alerted that the Maine shooter could “snap and commit a mass shooting” in September, according to CNN, no yellow flag action was pursued. (Read more)

May we not be so deceived into believing that laws upon laws will compel fallen humans to do what is right. Father, we pray for people to walk in integrity and fulfill their responsibilities to enforce the law, which was evidently not done in this matter, where there are already proven yellow-flag laws in the state of Maine. We pray for Senator Collins to have Godly wisdom to hold accountable those who neglected their duties, in Jesus name. May her bill in Congress be defeated, in light of the fact that her state's current legislation was not implemented thus leading to an unspeakable tragedy. 8. Obama shaped CIA to boost his political agenda, hired leftist activists, former agent says - Just The News
Former CIA agent John Gentry said that the CIA became politicized under the Obama administration with the hiring of Democratic activists who shifted the intelligence agency leftward. Gentry, a Georgetown University adjunct professor who served in the CIA from 1978 to 1990, details the agency's political changes in his new book, "Neutering the CIA: Why U.S. Intelligence Versus Trump Has Long-Term Consequences."
The politicization of the non-partisan agency first became an issue in the 1990s under CIA analyst Robert Gates, who later went on to become defense secretary for both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Gentry says. At the time, Gates ordered reports to be skewed to support elected officials' political narratives, according to The Washington Times.
Obama and his appointees "made and institutionalized significant changes, largely by creating new structures, policies, and incentives designed to alter organizational cultures in ways congruent with Obama’s political agenda," Gentry wrote. (Read more)

In addition to the economic pressures, tax breaks that eased financial burden are going away. That tax act had a lot of provisions and benefits for individuals and small businesses, and a lot of the provisions of that tax act are starting to expire. So now, let me explain what I mean. Atheists' Antics Could Inadvertently Fuel Spread of Gospel

A Christian leader on a mission to bring the Bible and truth to public school kids said atheist activists’ recent attacks on his organization have helped spread the word about his efforts. Joel Penton, founder and CEO of LifeWise Academy and author of “During School Hours: WHY and HOW LifeWise Academy is Reinstalling Religious Education into the Public School Day,” told CBN Digital his organization offers something truly compelling to American youths. “LifeWise Academy provides Bible education to public school students during school hours, which to most people sounds crazy, because of the whole separation of church and state and how the Bible has been removed from the public school day,” Penton said. “But what very few people realize is that, in 1952, the Supreme Court actually ruled that public school students can be released from school during school hours to receive religious instruction.” Such instruction must unfold off school property, be privately funded, and the kids participating must have parental permission. Penton said the legal reality of this has flown “under the radar for 70 years.”
He launched LifeWise Academy a few years ago after learning about the 1952 Release Time ruling in the Zorach v. Clauson Supreme Court case that found such instruction is constitutional and permissible, allowing kids to get religious instruction during the school day. Penton launched with just two schools in 2019, with the effort quickly exploding to more than 340 schools across 15 states. Once a week, kids are bussed from their public schools to a local church or facility, with the schedule churning and rotating. For some schools with a plethora of kids in the program, the buses continue to run throughout the day as new groups shuffle to and from LifeWise. Penton also discussed the fact that less than 20% of the kids participating in LifeWise attend church regularly. Meanwhile, in some schools, 80-90% of the student body opts to take part. “We have one school that has over a thousand students in the school,” he said. “And over 900 of them are enrolled in LifeWise Academy.” For now, Penton is focused on massive growth throughout new states and locations.
