Bomb cyclone: More than 1M without power as winter storm turns lights out at Christmas
|
|
More than 1.3 million have lost power. North Carolina has been hit the hardest by the storm, with close to 200,000 customers without electricity, per poweroutage.us.
More than 92,000 outages were reported in Virginia and more than 82,000 outages occurred in Texas as of midday on Friday.
At least 15,000 flights have been canceled or delayed to high winds and blizzard conditions. Several airlines offered vouchers to waive travel change fees for customers looking to alter or cancel their visits. Multiple runaways at several airports have been closed, as well.
Over 200 million people, close to 60% of the U.S. population, are under a weather warning or advisory, per the National Weather Service.
The service has warned that central and eastern parts of the United States will experience “crippling impacts” as temperatures reach as low as negative 40 degrees in some areas, which can cause frostbite within minutes. (Washington Examiner) Read more

- Holy King, we stand against this destructive storm in Jesus name; you will not cause any further harm to people in this nation. We loose peace and calm across this country and declare that people will help one another working together, for the glory of God. We pray for protection and shelter for all who are in a vulnerable condition and Jesus, let Your light shine with warmth in the midst of the darkness. Amen.

1. Shin Bet busts Gaza-directed terror cell planning ‘major’ bombing in Israel - Times of Israel
The Shin Bet security agency on Monday said it recently foiled an attempt by terror groups in the Gaza Strip to carry out a bombing attack in Israel using West Bank terror operatives
On December 14, security forces arrested four Palestinians in the West Bank over their involvement in the plot, and seized a primed explosive device, the agency said.
According to the Shin Bet, the attack plan was directed by the Popular Resistance Committees and al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades terror groups in the Gaza Strip. Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades is loosely tied to the Fatah party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, but also has members in Gaza. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu Hands Over Control of Construction in the West Bank to Smotrich - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israel’s incoming prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly agreed to hand far-right leader Betzalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism party significant control over the construction approval process in Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
Under the coalition agreement struck between Netanyahu’s Likud and Religious Zionism, the prime minister-designate’s approval will only be required at an initial stage of the planning process, when the government decides on the scope and the location of projects to be registered with the Planning Subcommittee of the Civil Administration, the Defense Ministry body that authorizes construction in settlements, the Kan public broadcaster reported on Friday.
Currently, the prime minister’s approval is needed at every stage of the process, which requires at least four civil administration clearances before work can begin. (Read more)

3. Israel set to uncork Hashemite Kingdom genie at UN - Israel National News
Israel is readying to uncork the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine genie at the United Nations – ending UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Process Torr Wennesland’s’ efforts to keep the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine Solution (Saudi Solution) from being discussed as a replacement for the failed UN 20 years-old two state solution.
The Saudi Solution was published on 8 June 2022 in the Saudi Government-controlled Al Arabiya News. Its author - Ali Shihabi – advises Saudi Arabia’s King-designate, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - Mohammed Bin Salman - on the development of Neom– a new $500 billion mega city the size of Israel
The Saudi Solution calls for the merger of Jordan, Gaza and part of Judea and Samaria (aka 'West Bank') into one territorial entity to be called The Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine – having its capital in Amman – not Jerusalem. (Read more)

5. EU document proves ‘what we’ve been seeing on the ground’ - JNS
(December 26, 2022 / JNS) A recently leaked European Union document outlining E.U. strategy to help extend Palestinian control over Area C of Judea and Samaria reveals “a gross violation of Israel’s sovereignty and jurisdiction by purported allies,” Naomi Kahn, director of the International Division for Regavim, an Israeli NGO that deals with land issues, told JNS.
Under the Oslo Accords, Area C, covering 60% of Judea and Samaria, commonly known as the West Bank, falls fully under Israeli authority.
The document, which came to light last week, for the first time reveals that official E.U. policy is to help the Palestinian Authority take over Area C, Kahn said. The document declares the ultimate objective is to integrate Area C with Areas A and B, which fall under Palestinian control. (Read more)

1. Thousands lose power after three substations targeted in Washington state, sheriff says - Reuters
Thousands of residents were without power near Tacoma, Washington, after three electrical substations were vandalized, local authorities said on Sunday, adding that it was not yet clear if the Christmas Day incidents were linked.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said robberies were reported at two substations belonging to Tacoma Public Utilities and another belonging to Puget Sound Energy. Deputies cited forced entry into the fenced-in area, with equipment vandalized but nothing taken from the sites, it said. More than 14,000 customers were affected.
"At this time deputies are conducting the initial investigation. We do not have any suspects in custody. It is unknown if there are any motives or if this was a coordinated attack on the power systems," the department said in a statement on its website. (Read more)

- Father, we take authority over these destructive attacks against substations, west to east, in Jesus name. We ask You to reveal the perpetrators, both frontline and anyone in the background, so they may be brought to justice, in Jesus name. We cover our power grids with the blood of Jesus and ask You to send warring and guarding angels to them for protection and defense from any wicked plans. Amen.

2. West Point removing 13 Confederate items from campus - Washington Examiner
America’s beloved West Point military academy, one of the oldest universities in the U.S., is removing more than a dozen Confederate items from its campus.
The United States Military Academy at West Point announced on Dec. 19 that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had approved a congressional commission’s recommendation to take down or alter 13 assets and memorabilia across the school’s campus in upstate New York.
Among the most notable items that will be removed over the next year are a portrait and bust of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee of Virginia. Lee was West Point’s superintendent prior to fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War, which went from 1861 to 1865.
The House and Senate Armed Services Committees created the Naming Commission in 2021 to assign, modify, or remove names, symbols, displays, monuments, and paraphernalia that commemorated the Confederacy or any person associated with the Southern states’ cause.
The commission was also tasked with evaluating items at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. (Read more)

- Father, it is very sad to see our history in all its glory and gore, be re-written in front of our eyes. We know that as these items are being removed, the replacements will be opinions and lack representation of truth. We ask You to see that everything is stored with respect and honor, so that at some point in the future, those who seek truth may be able to find it. Forgive us Lord, for we know not what to do.
- "For there is no more remembrance of the wise than of the fool forever, Since all that now is will be forgotten in the days to come. And how does a wise man die? As the fool!" (Ecclesiastes 2:16)

3. Biden signs defense authorization bill into law despite 'unconstitional' concerns - Washington Examiner
President Joe Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2023 into law on Friday morning despite maintaining concerns about several provisions included in the bill. Biden specifically said that one provision is "unconstitutional" and stated his intention to comply with others in a limited capacity.
The White House had previously refused to say whether or not Biden would veto the bill after Republicans included a clause that rolled back the Pentagon's coronavirus vaccine mandate and reinstated unvaccinated service members, though Biden did not specifically note that provision among his listed objections Friday morning.
"The Act provides vital benefits and enhances access to justice for military personnel and their families, and includes critical authorities to support our country's national defense, foreign affairs, and homeland security," Biden wrote. "While I am pleased to support these critical objectives, I note that certain provisions of the Act raise concerns."
Biden also objected to 12 sections that require the executive branch to submit additional reports to Congress regarding "highly sensitive classified information."
The president said that one such section, which requires the White House and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to supply related congressional committees with "all Presidential Executive Orders, memoranda, and policy directives that 'contain a direction to, establish a requirement for, or include a restriction on any element of the intelligence community," is unconstitutional "to the extent it imposes requirements for access to those communications beyond those already present under existing law." - Holy King, we cry out for the full measure of justice upon this bill and its signing. We put Joe Biden and his plans under Your authority, in Jesus name. May our government be moved into righteousness and godliness. Thank You Father, for You know the end from the beginning and we ask You to take charge of it all.
- "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

4. These School Districts Are Removing ‘Gender Identity,’ ‘Sexual Orientation’ From The Classroom In 2023 - Daily Caller
Several school districts have removed “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” as protected classes in their policies ahead of the 2023 school year.
School districts in Nebraska, Texas and Pennsylvania have introduced new policies or amendments that would alter current practices, including references to “gender identity” and “sexual orientation.” The Archdiocese of Omaha, Nebraska, which oversees large areas of churches and Catholic schools in and around Omaha, announced earlier this month that it was changing its gender policy, initially introduced in the spring, and would require students to behave and be treated according to their biological gender.
“[Students must] conduct themselves in accordance with their God-given biological sex as it relates to the use of personal pronouns, dress code, use of bathrooms, and participation in school-sponsored activities,” the policy states.
The policy goes into effect for the 2023-24 school year and will affect “52 archdiocesan elementary schools and 12 coed high schools,” according to the Omaha World-Herald. Students struggling with gender dysphoria can receive help establishing an “accompaniment plan.”
“Admission or retention will not be denied based solely on a student’s experience of gender dysphoria,” the policy read. “If a student experiences gender dysphoria and/or incongruence, school leaders and pastors shall partner with parents to establish an accompaniment plan. This plan must follow the teachings of the Catholic faith.” (Read more)

|
- HalleluJah for morality and righteousness being restored to these schools. May there be an outpouring of parents seeking to send their children to the Catholic schools, and causing public schools to realize they must return to sanity. Father, we cry out for defense of our children and we rebuke the agenda of twisted, perverse aggression towards them; please cause parents and churches to be driving forces for good in the schools, in Jesus name.

5. 16 dead after Buffalo area hit by ‘devastating’ snowstorm, governor says - NBC News
Sixteen people have died after a freezing blizzard with high winds struck the Buffalo, New York, area in a storm that the state’s governor has described as “devastating.” The dead have been found outside or in cars, and reports of even more deaths were being checked out Sunday night, Buffalo police said in a statement.
"Authorities have additional 911 calls regarding dead bodies that police are also working diligently to get to confirm and recover," the department said. "BPD also is working very hard to complete welfare checks in an effort to reduce potential deaths."
Outside the city, in Erie County, an additional six weather-reported deaths have been reported. The national figure for deaths related to the extreme holiday weather over the weekend was 46 by late Sunday, according to an NBC News tally. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said at a news conference some of the dead were found after impassable roads delayed emergency responses.
More than 13,000 customers in the state were without power early Monday, according to grid tracker PowerOutage.us. Poloncarz said power might not be fully restored until Tuesday. "Substations froze. They were snowed under. We had a report that one substation had an 18-foot drift onto it," he said. "And when they got in the substation was frozen. They still don’t even know to the extent the damage that occurred in the substation." (Read more)

|
- Jesus, we ask for Your mercy for the families of people whose lives were lost in this terrible storm. Please provide help and protection for the first responders in this weather and cause it to settle down gently, without floods, in Jesus name. Holy One, would You make ways where there seems to be no ways for those in critical situations, granting miraculous deliverances and resources where needed. We thank You for Your great grace in this disaster. Amen.
- "Hear my prayer, O Lord, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were." (Psalm 39:12)

Ominous Omnibus
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 26, 2022
Congress will be handing Americans a virtual lump of debt-ridden black hole spending coal for Christmas. The Omnibus spending bill consists of 4,155 pages of pork costing taxpayers a whopping $1.7 TRILLION dollars. This bill is so massive that no one has the time to even read it before its passage. Opponents of the bill say it is jam-packed with wokism and Democratic pet pork projects. Many may remember when the public was outraged during the Jimmy Carter years that the Pentagon was paying $60,000 for a hammer and $30,000 for a toilet seat. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Today’s Congress and Administration is spending that and more on programs like promoting transgenderism in other countries. It’s true.
The New York Times, while pointing out what it considers the good pork, wrote: “Opponents of earmarks consider the practice corrupt because it essentially allows lawmakers to use taxpayer money to fund pet projects without public debate or discussion. Others regard it as a necessary tool in a partisan Congress, one that gives lawmakers across the political spectrum the ability to cut deals to fund the government and avoid painful shutdowns that hurt federal workers and the U.S. economy.” To illustrate the example, the Times quoted Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), who “fought” for over $280 million in pork for her state, saying, “I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for members to give back to their states.” Give back? All the Planets in the Solar System Have Aligned
|
|
All of the planets of the solar system are visible together in the night sky right now, providing stargazers with a "spectacular" show to end the year.
Over the next few days, it is possible to see Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn simultaneously with the naked eye, while Uranus and Neptune can be observed with binoculars or a telescope.
"These nights, we can see all the planets of our solar system at a glance, soon after sunset," Gianluca Masi, an astronomer with the Virtual Telescope Project told Newsweek. "It happens from time to time, but it is always a spectacular sight."
After December 24, the moon will also join the show, which can be seen from any location on Earth, assuming that skies are clear.
Starting from the south-western horizon, the naked eye planets will line-up in the following order: Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars. Mercury will be the hardest planet to see, being located in a bright part of the sky. While the planet may be visible to the naked eye, binoculars may help to locate it, as well as Venus. Read More

RECORD-BREAKING Number of Nativity Scenes Displayed at State Capitols in 2022
|
|
Celebrations of Jesus Christ's birth are scheduled at nativity scenes placed at 43 state capitols across the country this Christmas. The Thomas More Society, a not-for-profit national public interest law firm, and the American Nativity Scene, a group dedicated to the display of nativity scenes at every state capitol throughout the U.S. during the Christmas season, are helping a growing number of private citizen groups across the nation to display Biblical manger scenes on government property this Christmas. State capitols in Alaska, New York, Utah, and Virginia are scheduled to feature the traditional display of the Holy Family with Baby Jesus in the manger for the first time this year. "In 2022 we are pleased to announce that 43 State Capitol Nativity Scenes, the most to date, are scheduled to be erected at state capitols this Christmas season," said American Nativity Scene President Ed O'Malley.
The American Nativity Scene works closely with attorneys at the Thomas More Society to make sure that those desiring to sponsor a State Capitol Nativity Scene can do so, as allowed by law. "Many erroneously assume that government entities are prohibited from allowing a religious display," explained Thomas More Society Vice President and Senior Counsel Thomas Olp. "The law is clear. Government entities may erect and maintain celebrations of the Christmas holiday – or allow citizens to do so on government property, including nativity scenes, as long as a crèche's sole purpose is not to promote its religious content, and it is placed in context with other symbols of the season as part of an effort to celebrate the public Christmas holiday through traditional symbols."
Thomas More Society President and Chief Counsel Tom Brejcha echoed the importance of displaying the nativity scenes, especially in times of social or political controversy. "The Christmas message highlights the inherent dignity of each and every human being," Brejcha noted. Pro-bono work by the attorneys at the Thomas More Society ensures that citizens who privately fund religious displays on public property are accorded their right to do so as guaranteed by the 1st and 14th Amendments of the United States Constitution. A permanent federal injunction banning discrimination against religious speech assures that the Christmas crèches are protected from erroneous applications of the widely misunderstood concept of "separation of church and state."
