TODAY'S TOP STORY
Zelenskyy makes direct appeal to GOP critics, arguing no country is safe if Ukraine falters

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a direct appeal to Republican critics during his Wednesday address to a joint meeting of Congress, telling lawmakers that no country was safe in the face of Russian aggression.

In a speech that won several standing ovations from both sides of the aisle, Zelenskyy predicted the war will hit a turning point next year just as Republicans are set to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"The struggle will define in what world our children and grandchildren will live," said Zelenskyy. "This battle cannot be frozen or postponed, it cannot be ignored hoping that [an] ocean or something else will provide protection."

The Ukrainian president said the world is "too interconnected and interdependent" for the U.S. to "stand aside and at the same time feel safe when such a battle continues." (Fox News) Read more here.

- Lord God, we ask that You would move on the hearts of all members of Congress to do the right thing regarding releasing more funds to support Ukraine's war for
freedom. May each one know Your will in this critical matter, in Your name, amen
and amen.

" If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. 18 minutes before the deadline | Netanyahu informs Herzog: I have succeeded - Israel National News

Israel has a right-wing government: Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu phoned President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday evening and proclaimed, “I have succeeded in forming a government”.

The phone call took place 18 minutes before the extension granted to Netanyahu from Herzog was set to expire at midnight.

Netanyahu told Herzog, "Dear President, thanks to the enormous public support we received in the last elections, I am informing you that I have been able to establish a government that will act in the interest of all the citizens of Israel."

The chairman of the Religious Zionist Party, MK Bezalel Smotrich, tweeted shortly after 11 p.m., "We have succeeded", but there had been reports of difficulties in contacts with the various parties that are members of the coalition before Netanyahu’s call with Herzog. (Read more)

2. Retired High Court judge calls for 'mass protests' against override clause - Jerusalem Post

Retired High Court judge Ayala Procaccia heavily criticized the override clause which is planned by the incoming right-wing coalition, in a speech she gave at an event organized by Transparency International Israel on Wednesday.

"We need to act with full force and a variety of legitimate means and sound the voice of the Israeli society," Procaccia said.

She called on all elements of the society, among others retired judges, legal advisors, military officers, bankers and others to organize and act, including "the general public, whose strength is always the greatest and who is already conscious of its ability to hold mass protests and its great power." (Read more)

3. 120,000 Pilgrims Expected in Israel Over Christmas Week - Algemeiner

Some 120,000 Christian pilgrims are expected to visit Israel over Christmas week, the country’s Ministry of Tourism announced Tuesday.

While pilgrims typically constitute 20 percent of tourists to Israel, that number is expected to increase to 40 percent during the Christmas period, according to the ministry.

Free roundtrip transportation will be offered between Jerusalem and Bethlehem for those interested in participating in celebrations on Christmas eve and the afternoon of Christmas day. (Read more)

4. Jordanians, Palestinian Authority Taking New Steps to Expand Influence on Temple Mount - Jewish Press

The Palestinian Authority and Jordanians are establishing a new fund for Koranic studies on the Temple Mount with the goal of strengthening Islamic ties to the holy site before the expected swearing-in of a new right-wing Israeli government.

“Jerusalem will be at the center of the conflict in the near future, mainly because Itamar Ben-Gvir is supposed to be the Minister of Internal Security, who is also in charge of police activity in the holy places of the city,” a Fatah official told TPS.

Jordan’s King Abdullah, in the presence of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, signed off on the establishment of the fund. It will be funded by contributions from Muslims around the world. (Read more)

5. EU working with PA to take over Area C, document obtained by JNS shows - JNS

(December 21, 2022 / JNS) A confidential document composed by the European Union’s mission in eastern Jerusalem and obtained by JNS shows that Brussels is actively working with and on behalf of the Palestinian Authority to take over Area C of Judea and Samaria, with the overall objective of integrating the region with Areas A and B.

“The European Union is committed to contribute to building a Palestinian State within 1967 borders and mobilize to this purpose its political and financial tools,” the document begins.

“The viability of the two-state solution is being steadily eroded by the progressive fragmentation and ‘creeping annexation’ of Area C….This calls for an enhanced, articulated and robust nexus approach mobilizing European political and financial means,” it continues. (Read more)

1. New Jersey school district blasted for reinstating mask mandate for staff, students: 'Plain cruel' - Fox News

A New Jersey school district was blasted for reinstating its mask mandate starting Wednesday due to rising COVID-19 cases.
Passaic Public Schools Superintendent Sandra Montanez-Diodonet sent out a letter to parents and staff on Tuesday stating that masks are required effective Wednesday for "all employees, Pre-K through grade 12 students, and visitors are required to wear face coverings in all district facilities, school grounds, and buses."

"Please be advised that as per our Board Policy No. 5141.10, during periods of High Activity Level as published in the NJDOH COVID-19 Activity Level Report, mask-wearing is required," read the letter, which was shared by what appears to be the school district’s Twitter account.

The letter came after state health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Passaic being among 10 counties that reached "high" community levels of COVID-19 in New Jersey.
Furthermore, the state reported 2,207 COVID-19 cases and 28 confirmed deaths on Tuesday, the highest number of fatalities reported in a single day since Feb. 16. (Read more)

- Lord, we just pray for the school faculty, parents, and the children to give them wisdom and strength during this time. We come against the enemy's efforts to reignite this bondage and this particular disease, to try to control children, parents, and our country. We bind it and break its powers in Jesus name. We will not put up with this again, and we say no to the enemy's plans in Jesus name.

- "So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, "What is this?" that you shall say to him, "By strength of hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage."  (Exodus 13:14)

2. Rep. Bishop reveals 'sinister' feature in omnibus bill on family planning, threats to biodiversity - Fox News

Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C., highlighted a "sinister" feature in the omnibus bill released on Tuesday that allocates funds for "reproductive health" in areas where "population growth threatens biodiversity."

The massive $1.7 trillion bill was released earlier that day with the expectations that Congress shall vote on it Wednesday. Several Republican figures, including Bishop, criticized the 4,200-page bill as more wasteful spending from the federal government passed without any clear knowledge of what’s in the text.

Bishop documented many of the examples from his Twitter account, including over half a billion dollars into "reproductive health" in places that could threaten endangered species. “On a more sinister note, here's at least $575 million for ‘family planning’ in areas where population growth ‘threatens biodiversity.’ Malthusianism is a disturbing, anti-human ideology that should have ZERO place in any federal program," Bishop tweeted. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we come against the evil agenda of population control, and any form of ideology that devalues the preciousness of human life. This should not be funded by taxpayer dollars nor should this ideology be held by anybody in Congress supposedly there to represent the people. We curse this evil ideology, and we say you have no part in our government in Jesus name. We thank you, Lord that You made man in Your likeness and Your image and that Your plan, and Destiny for mankind will not be taken out by the enemy, in the mighty name of Jesus.

- “Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty!” (Psalms 8:5)

3. Two vacant schools, El Paso Convention Center, will be used as migrant shelters, city says - CBS 4 Local

The El Paso Convention Center and two vacant El Paso Independent Schools will be used to house migrants, the City of El Paso announced Tuesday. The El Paso Office of Emergency Management will be preparing the former Bassett Middle School, in Central El Paso, and the former Morehead Middle School, in West El Paso, for priority use for women, children, and families.

OEM is extremely grateful to City Manager Tommy Gonzalez and El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra for working together to address this growing humanitarian crisis and be able to welcome the migrants in a safe and humane manner,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Jorge Rodriguez. “We want to stress to the community that safety is of the utmost importance, and we will provide heightened security measures to care for migrants, staff, and the community.

In times of crisis it is important for the community to work collaboratively to assist those in need,” said El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra. “In collaboration with the City of El Paso and other entities, the district will provide facilities for sheltering purposes to support the city’s efforts. Be assured that the safety and security of our students, staff, and community is the district’s top priority.” (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, give our churches, schools, and ministries great wisdom as they determine how to help people who are in need. Help our demoralized border patrol agents and everyone involved with this crisis. We ask that You move
upon the hearts of our leaders and Your church to humbly seek Your face, turn to Your principles, and act with wisdom. We need You to make a way.

- "I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.”         (Proverbs 8:17)

4. Biden Admin to Drop Half a Million on Artificial Intelligence That Detects Microaggressions on Social Media - Free Beacon

The Biden administration is set to dole out more than $550,000 in grants to develop an artificial intelligence model that can automatically detect and suppress microaggressions on social media, government spending records show.

The award, funded through President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, was granted to researchers at the University of Washington in March to develop technologies that could be used to protect online users from discriminatory language. The researchers have already received $132,000 and expect total government funding to reach $550,436 over the next five years.

The Biden administration's funding of the research comes as the White House faces growing accusations that it seeks to suppress free speech online. Biden last month suggested there should be an investigation into Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter after the billionaire declared the social media app would pursue a "free speech" agenda. Internal Twitter communications Musk released this month also revealed a prolonged relationship between the FBI and Twitter employees, with the agency playing a regular role in the platform's content moderation. (Read more)

- Lord God, this growing aggression against free-speech, thereby canceling the words of people that you don’t agree with, is disturbing. We refuse to let history repeat itself on our watch. We cut at the root of this evil and break its powers and say it has no place in our country in Jesus name!

- “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13)

5. Five eye-popping spending items in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill - Fox Business

Some lawmakers voiced complaints about the turnaround time to read the bill that contains $858 billion in defense spending and $772.5 billion in non-defense discretionary spending. Republican North Carolina Rep. Dan Bishop pointed to certain provisions of the bill in a lengthy Twitter thread in the afternoon, calling them "egregious."

In another section, the behemoth bill requires $410 million to "remain available" to reimburse Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia and Oman for "enhanced border security." At least $150 million of that must go to Jordan, according to the bill. Additionally, the bill makes available $65 million "for necessary expenses associated with the restoration of Pacific salmon populations."

That provision gives the Secretary of Commerce the authority to issue grants of the funds to six states and tribes of the Columbia River and Pacific Coast in connection to projects for threatened, endangered or at-risk salmon and steelhead populations. It also requires minimum 33% matching of funds or in-kind contributions for money given to states for Pacific salmon population restoration projects.
One earmark included in the spending bill asks for $3.6 million for a project called "Michelle Obama Trail – PATH Trail Project" in Georgia. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, thank You for the honor of being a steward of Your money for Your kingdom. Help our elected officials to remember that they are stewards as well. Guide them to spend our money in a way consistent with biblical values, with future generations in mind. In Jesus’ name, amen

- “You are the Creator of all my possessions, and “the cattle on a thousand hills” belong to You.” (Psalm 50:10)

Stupidocrisy: Drag On

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 21, 2022

A search of the Brietbart news website reveals over 16,300 stories with the key words “drag queens.” That’s right. The White House and Biden Administration obsession with drag queens seems to be the “pop” culture of the Democratic Party in 2022. That, and the attention to transexual rights, appear to be the centerpieces of the left’s most recent addition to their diversity, equity and inclusion storylines. And you know who the target is: your kids. Drag queen story hours at libraries and schools. Trans puberty blockers and sex change operations for kids under the age of consent. These things just half a generation ago would have been considered child sex offenses, predation, and molestation. Now it’s normal.

A November Rasmussen Reports poll shows, “The popularity of “Drag Queen Story Hour” doesn’t include the parents of school-age children, who overwhelmingly oppose the phenomenon in which men dressed as women perform for children. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 60% of American Adults consider “Drag Queen Story Hour” not appropriate for children, including 44% who say it’s Not At All Appropriate. Only 29% think “Drag Queen Story Hour” is appropriate for children, including 11% who consider it Very Appropriate. Another 10% are not sure.” Some ten percent are not sure whether this perversion is appropriate, and an equal amount consider it very appropriate. Wow!  But it gets worse. Read More

Potentially historic blizzard in Chicago met
with flurry of emotions
The blizzard of January 1967 was the worst snowstorm in Chicago history, and with the forecast calling for another blizzard, it has some holiday travelers flustered, while others are anxiously awaiting for the snow to arrive.

A powerful snowstorm could grind holiday travel to a halt in the coming days, and in Chicago it has the potential to evolve into an all-out blizzard that is expected to become one of the worst in recent memory for the Windy City.

The January 1967 blizzard is regarded as the worst snowstorm on record in Chicago. A whopping 23 inches of snow fell from Jan. 26-27, breaking the previous snow record for the city of 19 inches on March 25-26, 1930, according to data compiled by the National Weather Service (NWS).

During the event, snow fell at a rate of 2 inches per hour at times with wind gusts to 53 mph at Midway Airport, located 8 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The wind-swept snow led to drifts as high as 6 feet. The storm brought the typically bustling city to a standstill as 20,000 cars and more than 1,000 buses were stranded in the snow, and 60 people tragically lost their lives. Read More

Haiti ministry holds Christmas Day party
On Christmas Day, For Haiti with Love brings hundreds of kids together for a party.  Because of the poverty, many Haitians don’t celebrate Christmas, says Eva Dehart, so their party doesn’t interfere with family celebrations. “We get about 500 kids invited to our headquarters and ensure they get a full meal. So they leave with their tummies full, and they each get at least one new gift.”

FHWL staff tells kids that the gifts symbolize God’s gift to us. They take the opportunity to talk about the birth of Jesus, His death and resurrection, and His continuing work in the world.
DeHart says they invite children from the poorest families. “Because they don’t get anything. This is a way to make them feel special. When you’re at the bottom of the poverty list, and you watch everybody else getting all of the benefits of society, so to speak, and your parents are poor, you just get passed over for everything. This is a chance to have a party for those children only. The well-gooders can have their own party.”

Pray many children will experience the love of Jesus through this celebration.
FHWL typically has a fundraiser for the event in August. They weren’t able to hold the dinner this year, but DeHart says, “People sent notes that they missed having the party. They consider it a reunion with people they wouldn’t normally cross paths with otherwise. And with those lovely notes, they went ahead and sent the checks. So we ended up with the same budget for the party we normally have. God is good.” (Mission Network News) Read more here.
- Lord Jesus, we PRAISE and WORSHIP You for being the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!! May these children feel Your love and turn their hearts towards You. We thank You for Your perfect financial provision that is allowing "For Haiti with Love" to minister to these precious children. May the JOY of the LORD fill hearts as they worship You, our King and Savior of the world!! In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

- "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."  (Isaiah 9:6)

Classic Hymns

The First Noel

To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE

Words and Music: Traditional English Carol

Scripture: There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. Luke 2:8–9

Lyrics:
The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay;
In fields where they lay tending their sheep,
On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

Refrain
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They lookèd up and saw a star
Shining in the east,
Beyond them far;
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

Refrain
And by the light of that same star
Three wise men came
From country far;
To seek for a king was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.

Refrain

This star drew nigh to the northwest,
Over Bethlehem
It took its rest;
And there it did both stop and stay,
Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Refrain

Then did they know assuredly
Within that house
The King did lie;
One entered it them for to see,
And found the Babe in poverty.

Refrain

Then entered in those wise men three,
Full reverently
Upon the knee,
And offered there, in His presence,
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.

Refrain
