In Historic First, Nativity Scene Goes on Display at US Capitol
|

|
Event marks end of years-long legal battle
For the first time in history, a Nativity scene was displayed on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Tuesday, marking what organizers say is a milestone for religious freedom and the First Amendment.
The display, accompanied by prayer, Christmas carols and a reading of the Christmas story, was made possible by a landmark federal court decision that granted Rev. Patrick Mahoney and his supporters the right to peacefully celebrate the Christmas season on Capitol grounds.
Held on the southeastern steps of the Capitol, the display was the culmination of a legal battle that began over a decade ago when Mahoney, director of the Washington, D.C.-based Christian Defense Coalition, faced repeated threats of arrest for his attempts to read the Christmas story from the Bible and hold a Nativity display at the Capitol Christmas tree. Exclusive - Christian Persecution Expert - Jihadis Taking Syria a "Disaster for Christians'
|
|
The militants who topped the regime of dictator Bashar Assad in Syria are “al-Qaeda and ISIS hiding who they really are” and their rule “will be a disaster for Christians,” predicted Jeff King, the president of International Christian Concern (ICC), in remarks to Breitbart News on Tuesday.
ICC is a global charity working to offer humanitarian aid and advocate for the rights of persecuted Christians around the world. Christian persecution experts estimated this year that over 365 million Christians around the world live in areas where they face intense discrimination because they are Christians, including the threat of kidnapping, torture, and death, among other atrocities. Syria, suffering a civil war for over a decade, was among those places as a result of the establishment of the Islamic State (ISIS) “caliphate” and the prevalence of jihadist terrorist groups in the country – including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the group that won the civil war on Saturday.
The fallen dictator of Syria, Assad, is an Alawite Shiite Muslim and ran a regime allied with the world’s premier state sponsor of terrorism, Iran. Despite Iran funding some of the most harrowing jihadist atrocities in the world, Assad himself did not persecute Christians due to their faith – his regime only targeted Christian political dissidents, as it did anyone who challenged his regime in any way.
HTS is an offshoot of al-Qaeda run by a terrorist who once worked directly under Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the late ISIS “caliph.” While that leader – Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, now wanting to be referred to by his real name, Ahmed al-Sharaa – has insisted in recent interviews he does not intend to persecute any minority groups in Syria, his history has left many doubters to that promise and recalled similar assurances by the bloodthirsty Taliban of Afghanistan that they would form an “inclusive” government that, three years later, has failed to materialize. Eric Adams, Tom Homan Agree on Plan to Deport Criminal Illegal Immigrants
|
|
President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming border czar Tom Homan met with New York City Democratic Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday where the two agreed on a key part of Trump’s plan for mass deportations.
During the meeting — which was held at Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the New York City mayor — Adams and Homan agreed on the urgency of removing illegal immigrant criminals from America’s largest city, according to the mayor. The meeting came after Homan warned sanctuary cities, such as New York and Chicago, about releasing illegal immigrants back onto the street after they commit a crime.
At a press conference following the meeting, Adams admitted that New York City “made terrible mistakes in the past” by allowing violent illegal immigrants, “particularly these dangerous gangs,” to remain on the street.
“We’re not going to continue in that direction,” the mayor added.
Adams said that the city will “protect the rights of immigrants … that are hardworking, giving back to the city in a real way,” but he added, “We’re not going to be a safe haven for those who commit repeated violent crimes against innocent migrants, immigrants, and longstanding New Yorkers.” Read more

We Have the Money: TX Lt Governor Patrick Vows to Bid on Border Wall Materials in Biden Fire Sale
|

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R-TX) said the State of Texas will make a bid on border wall materials that the federal government is reportedly attempting to sell for pennies on the dollar at auction.
Patrick predicted that the incoming Trump administration would challenge the legality of so-called sanctuary cities. He also laid out his plans to purchase those border wall materials for the state.
“Texas has its act together on the front lines of this battle with the illegals,” host Laura Ingraham said. “But do you think it’s time, Dan, for people, like these sanctuary mayors to themselves, pay a price if in fact, they try to thwart the federal government’s sole and supreme responsibility to enforce our border laws? 1. Israeli right-wing politicians express opposition to emerging Israel-Lebanon agreement - Jerusalem Post
Amid internal and international pressure to end the conflict in Israel's North and the emerging settlement between Israel and Lebanon, some Israeli political leaders expressed their opposition to the upcoming agreement, which, among other things, strives to pressure Hamas to return the remaining 101 hostages still held in the Gaza Strip by the Gaza-based terrorist organization.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gviropposed the move on Monday, calling it a "grave mistake" and a "historic missed opportunity" to eliminate the terrorist organization Hezbollah.
Ben-Gvir stressed that "we need to listen to field commanders and local leaders" and added that at this stage, "with Hezbollah battered and eager for a ceasefire, we must not stop." According to him, the anticipated measures regarding Lebanon will harm efforts to fight the terrorist organization. (Read more)

2. New Israeli strikes said to target Syrian military sites, underground missile bunkers - Times of Israel
Israel launched a series of strikes early Saturday targeting military sites in Damascus and its countryside, including rocket depots buried deep under a mountain, a Syrian war monitor said, in the latest such raids since rebels brought down Bashar al-Assad almost a week ago.
Earlier in the week Israel launched a major operation to destroy the Syrian military’s strategic military capabilities, including chemical weapons sites, missiles, air defenses, air force and navy targets, in a bid to prevent them from falling into the hands of hostile elements.
The early Saturday strikes appeared to be aimed at completing the effort. (Read more)

3. IDF Chief responds to Syrian rebel leader’s accusation of Israeli ‘aggression’ - World Israel News
The IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, during a situational assessment with other officers, sent a message to Syrian rebels that Israel had “no intention of managing Syria.”
The Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin, the Commanding Officer of the 210th Division, BG Yair Palai, and additional commanders from the General Staff Forum were also present at the assessment.
He said, “We are taking action to prevent these terrorist elements from establishing themselves—extremist terrorists will not be allowed to set up camp near the border. We are not involved in what is happening in Syria, and we have no intention of managing Syria.” (Read more)

4. IDF is pursuing terrorist who fired at Israeli car in Samaria - Israel National News
Security forces are pursuing a terrorist who fired at an Israeli vehicle on Sunday evening near the Barkan Industrial Zone in Samaria. No one was wounded.
"The soldiers are conducting scans, setting up roadblocks, and surrounding the villages in the area," the IDF stated.
From initial details it would appear that the shots were fired at a soldier who was traveling to a farm in western Samaria near the Barkan and Ariel industrial zones. Four bullet holes were found in the vehicle. (Read more)

5. Sa’ar orders closure of Israel’s embassy in Ireland - JNS
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Sunday ordered the Israeli embassy in Dublin shuttered amid Ireland’s hostile stance toward the Jewish state.
Also on Sunday, Sa’ar ordered the opening of an Israeli embassy in Moldova.
Ambassador to Ireland Dana Erlich was already recalled last May after Ireland became one of three European countries to recognize a Palestinian state.
The Irish government last week approved a proposal to intervene in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. (Read more)

Remember how Senate Democrats buried Mayorkas' impeachment? It gets worse.
The Biden-Harris administration spent over $1.6 million in taxpayer money on the defense of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during his impeachment proceedings, according to internal documents obtained by The Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project.
Although the taxpayer spending was previously reported on, the watchdog organization's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) findings confirm that the American people actually paid that much for a fleet of high-flying lawyers to defend Mayorkas.
Last year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, a prestigious New York law firm, a million-dollar government contract to serve as Mayorkas' defense counsel. Read more

2. NJ Mayor: State Told Us to Call Bomb Squad, Wear HAZMAT if Drone Is Downed, Like It’s an Attack- Breitbart
On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Faulkner Focus,” Belleville, NJ, Mayor Michael Melham stated that the state of New Jersey gave them guidance that day that if a drone is downed “we’re immediately to call the bomb squad of our county, and, second, our fire department has been instructed to make sure they wear HAZMAT suits” like it’s an attack on the homeland.
Melham stated, “On the way here, I was on the phone with my OEM team and we now have guidance coming from the state. And that guidance does say two different things. First of all, if there is a downed drone in our vicinity, we’re immediately to call the bomb squad of our county, and, second, our fire department has been instructed to make sure they wear HAZMAT suits.”
Host Harris Faulkner then asked, “So, if something falls out of the sky that people have seen…you’re to treat this [like] more than a plane crash, it’s treated like an attack on the homeland?” Read more

3. 26 FBI ‘Confidential Human Sources’ Were In DC On Jan 6, Report Says- Daily Caller
Twenty-six confidential human sources (CHS) cooperating with the FBI were in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021, in connection to the Capitol riot, a report from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) revealed Thursday.
The CHSs, who were not undercover employees, provided information to FBI “handling agents,” the report states. FBI field offices tasked three of the sources to “report on domestic terrorism subjects” in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6.
The OIG noted that none of the CHSs were authorized to enter restricted areas — including the U.S. Capitol — or violate the law. Four sources, however, were inside the Capitol during the riot, and 13 entered a security perimeter around the building.
“None of the CHSs who entered the Capitol or a restricted area has been prosecuted to date,” the report states. Read more

4. Tennessee Lawmaker Has Plan To Crack Down On Sending Abortion Pills Into State- Daily Wire
A Republican lawmaker in Tennessee introduced legislation this week that would penalize groups or individuals that mail abortion pills into the Volunteer State.
Rep. Gino Bulso (R- Brentwood) introduced the “Unborn Child Protection Act” on Monday to crack down on the number of illegal abortion pills that have been sent into Tennessee despite the state’s strong pro-life protections. The legislation would make individuals or groups sending pills into Tennessee liable for up to $5 million if the pill resulted in the death of an unborn child.
“A person or entity, including, but not limited to, a manufacturer, distributor, seller, or reseller, of an abortion-inducing drug shall not mail or deliver an abortion-inducing drug into this state,” the text of the bill says. “Notwithstanding another law to the contrary, a person or entity who mails or delivers an abortion-inducing drug into this state and the mailing or delivery results in the death of an unborn child is strictly liable in the amount of five million dollars ($5,000,000) in damages for the death of the unborn child.”
After Roe v. Wade was overturned, a number of robust pro-life laws went into effect in states like Tennessee that on paper banned all abortions in the state. However, leftist activists have eluded these bans by shipping pills directly in the mail to women seeking to end the life of their unborn child. Read more

5. Netanyahu Sends Message of Hope to Iranian People - Israel365 news
Speaking in English with Persian subtitles, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a message of hope directly to the Iranian people on Thursday. He talked about a future of peace, the fall of the Syrian regime, and how their government spent $30 billion supporting the Assad regime, as well as billions in support of Hamas in Gaza. This was his third video message addressing Iranians in recent months.

Trump considers strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities
|

|
President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is formulating what it calls a "Maximum Pressure 2.0" strategy against the Iranian regime, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. While Trump's first administration focused on harsh economic sanctions against Iran, his second term could include military measures, including the possibility of strikes on nuclear facilities.
One approach, as described by two sources familiar with the plan, involves increasing military pressure by deploying additional US forces, fighter jets, and ships to the Middle East. The US may also sell advanced weapons to Israel, including bunker-buster bombs that would enhance its capability to disable Iranian nuclear facilities.
An alternative path seeks to use the threat of military force, particularly when combined with US sanctions, to push Tehran toward a diplomatic solution. (IsraelHayom) Read more

‘Moral failure,’ Israeli mission in New York says of votes in United Nations
|

The United Nations is "voting itself into utter irrelevance," human rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky told JNS
|
|
|
The U.N. General Assembly voted almost unanimously on Wednesday to support two non-binding resolutions, one that demands that Israel end its war against the Hamas terror group in the Gaza Strip and the other allowing the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to continue to operate in the Jewish state.
UNRWA “has failed the people of Gaza and has been infiltrated by Hamas terrorists,” Jonathan Harounoff, international spokesman for Israel’s mission to the United Nations in New York, told JNS. “The ceasefire vote was another moral failure. The resolution failed to make an immediate and permanent ceasefire contingent on the release of all 100 hostages.”
Arsen Ostrovsky, a human-rights lawyer and CEO of the International Legal Forum, told JNS that “countries which voted in favor of this resolution, or cowardly abstained, only abandoned the hostages and rewarded the murderers, rapists and abductors of Hamas.” (JNS.org) Read more here.

NASA Outlines Latest Moon to Mars Plans in 2024 Architecture Update
|
|
|
As NASA develops a blueprint for space exploration throughout the solar system for the benefit of humanity, the agency released several new documents Friday updating its Moon to Mars architecture. The roadmap sets NASA on course for long-term lunar exploration under the Artemis campaign in preparation for future crewed missions to Mars.
Following an Architecture Concept Review, the 2024 updates include a revision of NASA’s Architecture Definition Document which details technical approaches and processes of the agency’s exploration plans, an executive overview, and 12 new white papers on key Moon to Mars topics.
“NASA’s Architecture Concept Review process is critical to getting us on a path to mount a human mission to Mars,” said NASA Associate Administrator Jim Free. “We’re taking a methodical approach to mapping out the decisions we need to make, understanding resource and technological trades, and ensuring we are listening to feedback from stakeholders.”
One newly released white paper highlights NASA’s decision to use fission power as the primary source of power on the Martian surface to sustain crews — the first of seven key decisions necessary for human Mars exploration. Fission power is a form of nuclear power unaffected by day and night cycles or potential dust storms on Mars. Read More
