The billionaire who gave a pro-Trump super PAC $50 million just doubled down
|

|
A super PAC supporting former President Donald Trump’s bid for the White House recently received tens of millions of dollars from business moguls, tech leaders, a scientologist, and the heir to the Mellon banking empire.
The bulk of the $54.4 million contributed to Make America Great Again Inc. came from Timothy Mellon, the grandson of former Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, who gave the group $50 million last month, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission. He had previously given the super PAC $50 million on May 31, one day after Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial.
Mellon has given a total of $115 million to MAGA Inc. this election cycle, according to the filing. He is the biggest donor to the group so far. He has also contributed more than $25 million to American Values 2024, a super PAC supporting independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., although his last donation was in April.
In total, Mellon has contributed more than $150 million to political organizations in the 2024 election cycle.
MAGA Inc. also received some cash, or cryptocurrency to be more precise, from billionaire twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who lead crypto exchange Gemini. The brothers gave the group about $3.5 million in Bitcoin on July 19, according to filings, the day after Trump spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. (Quartz) Read more here.

Veterans in House and Senate condemn Walz’s ‘stolen valor’
|

More than half of the veterans in the House and Senate slammed Democratic running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) on Wednesday for lying about his military career in what critics call a classic case of “stolen valor.”
In a three-page memo put out by the Trump-Vance campaign, 50 veterans demanded an apology and explanation from Walz, who lied about being in combat and his rank at retirement.
“You have violated the trust of our brothers and sisters in arms. Their blood, sweat, and sacrifice are the only reason our nation is able to exist. Until you admit you lied to them, there is no way you can be trusted to serve as vice president,” the veterans said.
It was signed by four senators and 46 House members.
Walz has refused to discuss his military resume with reporters, and the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris has kept him from talking about it.
Online, however, there are several examples of him talking about following his National Guard group into war in Iraq. He left his unit before it went to battle.
He also has claimed to be a “retired command sergeant major,” a rank he was stripped of because he didn’t complete the required work. He repeatedly made that claim in past political appearances. (Washington Examiner) Read more here.

DNC Protests in Chicago Turn Violent Outside Israeli Consulate

|
CHICAGO—A pro-Palestinian protest outside the Israeli consulate in Chicago led to violent clashes and arrests on the evening of Aug. 20., day two of the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
The demonstration, organized by the group Behind Enemy Lines, marks a non-permitted escalation in the conflict between mainstream Democrats and pro-Palestinian activists. The latter objects to the Biden-Harris administration’s support for Israel’s war against Hamas.
In the hours leading up to the first outbreak of violence, hundreds of protestors had gathered near downtown Chicago outside Accenture Tower, the home of the Israeli consulate. Chants of “intifada,” an Arabic word for rebellion or uprising, were heard among the crowd. Another chant, “The whole world is watching!” deliberately recalled the 1968 Democratic National Convention, also held in Chicago.
In promotional material for the protest, Behind Enemy Lines called for protestors to “make it great like ‘68,” referring to the anti-Vietnam War protests that defined the public memory of the event, along with disputes over the party’s nominee inside the convention.
Many at the Aug. 20 protest wore keffiyehs, masks, or other face coverings.
Other protesters included a group of anti-Zionist Jews, including Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss of Jews United Against Zionism. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

1. Netanyahu: 'IAF knows how to hit the soft underbelly of our enemies, we'll prove it again' - Israel National News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Ramat David Air Force Base in northern Israel on Wednesday and met with senior Air Force officers, including the Air Force Chief-of-Staff Brig.-Gen. Omer Tischler and Air Defense Array Commander Brig.-Gen. Gilad Biran. During the discussion, the Prime Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the readiness of the Air Force in all sectors, but especially the north.
Prime Minister Netanyahu viewed an exhibition of combat systems at the base, including attack helicopters and jets. He was also shown the offensive capabilities of the various systems as well as their importance in carrying out the Air Force's many defensive and offensive missions against both near and distant threats.
The Prime Minister met with air crews, operators, and technical crews, and with commanders. He commended their work and spoke with them about the importance of their roles in defending the country and in safeguarding Israel's security superiority against its enemies. (Read more)

2. Hezbollah fires 50 rockets at Golan, wounding one - JNS
A man was moderately wounded by a 50-rocket barrage launched from Lebanon by Hezbollah at Katzrin in the Golan Heights on Wednesday morning.
The Magen David Adom emergency rescue services said that the man in his 30s suffered shrapnel wounds from a direct rocket impact on his home. He was being evacuated to Ziv Hospital in Safed for treatment.
The Israel Defense Forces said that some of the 50 projectiles that crossed into Israeli territory were intercepted by the Iron Dome aerial defense system, while several impacts were identified in the area of Katzrin. (Read more)

3. Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks ‘on the brink of collapsing’ - JNS
Gaza ceasefire talks are “on the brink of collapsing” as negotiators head to Cairo this week to discuss the latest proposal, Politico reported on Tuesday, citing two U.S. and two Israeli officials.
Before heading to Egypt and Qatar, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in Israel on Monday that the government in Jerusalem had accepted a Biden administration proposal to bridge differences with the Hamas for a ceasefire and the release of the remaining hostages held by the terror group in exchange for Palestinian security prisoners.
However, Hamas has publicly rejected the latest offer, leading Washington to become increasingly pessimistic, while outwardly displaying signs of optimism that an agreement can be achieved. (Read more)

4. Hamas sends threatening calls, messages to hostage relatives from loved ones phones - N12 - Jerusalem Post
Hamas has sent threatening phone calls and messages to relatives of Israeli hostages in Hamas captivity, according to a report on Tuesday by N12.
'Fight the government or lose your loved ones'
The messages included warnings such as: "If you don't fight the government, you won't see your loved ones return."
According to the report, the terror group sent ransom requests, claiming that without payment, the hostage families wouldn't receive information about their loved ones.
The families have since passed the phone numbers to the Shin Bet. (Read more)

5. Bomb threats emailed to over 100 Jewish institutions in Canada - Times of Israel
Dozens of Jewish institutions across Canada received a threatening email early Wednesday morning saying bombs had been planted on their premises and would be detonated later that day, community groups said.
No bombs were reported to have been found as of Wednesday afternoon, although local media said that investigations were still ongoing.
“This was a threat that we took very seriously,” a spokesperson from B’nai Brith Canada told local news channel CP24. “We’re very grateful for the swift response from law enforcement to the threat.” (Read more)

1. Harris campaign grocery price control proposal could cause shortages - Washington Examiner
Vice President Kamala Harris’s new proposal to prevent “price-gouging” in the food industry is drawing criticism from some economists who say it is an election-year stunt meant to address her vulnerability on the topic of inflation — one that, if implemented, would backfire and cause shortages.
In its first major economic policy rollout, the Harris campaign announced Thursday that in order to target food inflation at the grocery store, Harris would try to enact the “first-ever federal ban on corporate price-gouging.”
The details of what such a proposal would look like haven’t been released, although the campaign said Harris would give authority to the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general to “investigate and impose harsh penalties” on corporations who break the administration’s “price-gouging” rules. 2. Mass. Gov. Maura Healey signs bill stripping 'mother,' 'father' from state parentage law - The Christian Post
A new Massachusetts law overhauls the state’s parentage laws to use gender-neutral language in an attempt to “reflect the realities of modern families.”
Last week, Massachusetts’ Democrat Gov. Maura Healey signed House Bill 4970 into law. The bill, passed unanimously by both houses of the Massachusetts General Court, removes gender-specific language from the state’s parentage laws in an effort to accommodate children born to same-sex couples, unmarried or trans-identified parents, and children born as a result of procedures such as in-vitro fertilization or surrogacy. It is slated to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
The phrase “a man and woman” is replaced with “persons,” and the law is amended so that the word “their” is used instead of “his.” The law will also scrub references to the term “mother,” instead using the phrase “person who gave birth to the child.” The term “father” also finds itself on the chopping block. The words “other parent” are now used in its place. (Read more)

Former CNN host Don Lemon shared a video on social media Wednesday showing women he interviewed on the street who revealed who they were going to vote for in the upcoming election. The left-wing journalist interviewed white and black women on the streets of Chicago and all of the women who he included in the video said that they were voting for Trump.
The first woman that Lemon interviewed said: “I’m going for Trump. 4. Biden-Harris Department of Energy official calls for 'queering nuclear weapons' as part of radical DEI agenda - Fox News
A recent hire at the nuclear security wing of the Department of Energy has previously called for disarmament policies – which reduce or eliminate nuclear weapons – arguing that advancing "queer theory" was essential to that agenda as well as important to America's national security.
The Biden-Harris administration announced Sneha Nairhad been appointed as special assistant at the National Nuclear Security Administration in February 2024. Nair believes in eradicating purported "White supremacy" in the nuclear field as well as "queering nuclear weapons" as part of a diversity, equity and inclusion push she believes is essential for deterring threats to nuclear energy facilities in the U.S.
"Finally, queer theory informs the struggle for nuclear justice and disarmament," she wrote last year. "Queer theory helps to shift the perception of nuclear weapons as instruments for security by telling the hidden stories of displacement, illness, and trauma caused by their production and testing." 5. Former Home Depot CEO on Fed officials warning over jobs data: ‘About time’ the government ‘got honest’ - Fox Business
Home Depot’s former CEO is calling for the government to tell the truth, as Federal Reserve governors are warning about U.S. jobs data being inflated. During an appearance on "The Evening Edit," Monday, Bob Nardelli suggested that the country’s jobs data is "woefully overstated," arguing that it's "about time" the government "got honest."
"You and I watch this very closely every month," Nardelli told host Elizabeth MacDonald in response to Federal Reserve Governors Michelle Bowman and Lisa Cook warning that job gains are overstated, and the labor market could be weaker than we realize.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics is expected to release a sizable downward revision Wednesday, potentially lowering payroll growth by at least 600,000 jobs in the year through March. What’s more, the Atlanta Fed cut its forecast for the third-quarter U.S. GDP to just 2%. (Read more)

Speaker Johnson Faults Harris Over 32,000 Missing Migrant Kids

Seizing on a Biden administration report issued Tuesday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lost track of tens of thousands of unaccompanied migrant children, House Republicans tore into border czar Kamala Harris over the "humanitarian catastrophe" and said she "cannot be trusted to fix it."
Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and other GOP leaders quickly responded to Tuesday's report by the internal watchdog for the Department of Homeland Security that said in the past five years, more than 32,000 unaccompanied migrant children failed to report for their immigration court hearing and that ICE was "not able to account" for their whereabouts.
"The southern border is a national security disaster and a humanitarian catastrophe, and Kamala Harris cannot be trusted to fix it," Johnson said on a press call, The Hill reported. "It is on her watch that all this has happened."
Johnson, joined on the call by House Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green, R-Tenn., and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, placed blame at the door of Harris, the Democrat nominee for president and border czar in President Joe Biden's administration.
Republicans were not thrilled with speeches made by Democrats about the border, including Biden, on Day 1 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. In his keynote speech that bled into Tuesday morning, Biden dared to go on the offensive about border policy, one that has seen more than 10 million illegals enter the country on his watch.

Former President Donald Trump left the podium behind bulletproof glass during a rally in North Carolina on Wednesday to check on a supporter who passed out.
The rally was Trump’s first outdoor event since surviving last month’s attempted assassination.
Republicans praised the president’s courageous willingness to leave the safety of the glass after nearly losing his life at a Pennsylvania rally.
In the video below, the footage shows panes of bulletproof glass forming a protective wall across the stage. The glass was a part of the increased security to keep Trump safe.

Chicago will be overwhelmed by violent and chaotic protests during the Democratic National Convention, according to Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who warned that the mainstream media would downplay the unrest and instead emphasize Vice President Kamala Harris’s “joyful” campaign to maintain a favorable narrative for the Democrats.
Citing the New York Post, Cruz noted that the DNC in Chicago will be “overrun” by a series of large-scale protests, with approximately 100,000 protesters both inside and outside the event, as dissenters prepare to voice their opposition to various causes, including U.S. support for Israel. On Tuesday’s broadcast of “CNN News Central,” Harris-Walz Campaign Principal Deputy Campaign Manager Quentin Fulks stated that 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris avoiding interviews and largely sticking to scripted appearances “has to do with making sure that you’re interviewing with the people who are going to decide who gets the job, and that is the American voters.”
Co-host Brianna Keilar asked, “I’m sure you’ve seen this Axios reporting where it’s stressing that Harris has a history of being somewhat risk-[averse] and pointing out a pattern of choreographed appearances, no interviews, few gaggles with reporters. What do you think about that? And do you think, at a certain point, that she needs…to kind of throw some of that out the window?”
Fulks responded, “Look, I don’t think that this has anything to do with being risk-averse. I think this has to do with making sure that you’re interviewing with the people who are going to decide who gets the job, and that is the American voters. Astronauts could be stuck in space for eight months, Nasa says
|

A recap of Nasa's update on the astronauts stuck in space
Nasa has just wrapped up its press conference on Sunita Williams and Barry 'Butch' Wilmore, the two astronauts who are currently stuck on the International Space Station (ISS).
Here's a summary of what was said:
- Both astronauts are "doing great" and keeping busy on the ISS, Nasa officials say, adding that as veterans, they are mentally and physically prepared for unexpected turns on a space mission
- Discussions are now being had on whether the crew can return on the Boeing Starliner - the spacecraft that they used to fly there - or would have to return on a SpaceX vehicle
- The two could remain up there for eight months if they do have to wait to return on a SpaceX flight
- One issue, however, is the space suits they have - they travelled wearing a suit for the Starliner craft. Those same suits are not fit for use on a SpaceX flight, and they would have to return unsuited in that case
- Nasa says it still has confidence in the Starliner craft, and that it could still be used to return home in case of an emergency
- A decision will be made on the astronaut's return by the end of August, though there's no sharp cut-off date

Nick Vujicic Officially Launching ProLife Bank in November After He Was Debanked

Evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic has announced that his new faith-friendly online banking service will finally be opening in November after years of planning. Vujicic got the idea to launch a financial service that's friendly to conservatives after he was suddenly debanked about five years ago because he was supporting the pro-life cause. "I got kicked out of a bank with no warning. They froze my credit cards, froze my debit cards," he said. "They gave me a letter to say that they did a review of me as a client and they don't want anything to do with me." The new project, ProLifeFintech, is an institution that will "honor God first, serve the people who use our fintech platform, and always choose to support life…All life," according to its website. (Fintech is another term for online banking.)
The new financial organization's plan is to give 50 percent of its net profits to Judeo-Christian-aligned nonprofit organizations. As CBN News has reported over the last couple of years, multiple conservatives have been targeted by financial institutions at home and abroad. Last year, Barclays Bank in the UK ended up paying nearly $17,000 for closing a Christian charity's account after a three-year legal battle in which it was alleged the bank caved to LGBT activist demands. And in 2022, debanking was perpetrated against former U.S. Senator and Religious Freedom Ambassador Sam Brownback.
