Ukraine Will Join NATO, Says Antony Blinken
|

NATO is going to “build a bridge” towards Ukraine becoming a member state of the defensive alliance, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on the organisation’s 75th birthday.
North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member states met in Brussels at the alliance’s headquarters on Thursday to toast the 75th anniversary of its founding, among them U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken who like others used the occasion to discuss renewed Russian aggression and the potential place of Ukraine among its members. He emphasised the view, already articulated multiple times by NATO leaders in recent years, that “Ukraine will become a member of NATO”.
What he left unsaid, however, was the conditions that generally come with the statement, that this membership would be when Ukraine is in a fit state to join, including not being occupied by a foreign power.
Blinken said:
…the support for Ukraine, the determination of every country represented here at NATO remains rock solid. We will do everything we can, allies will do everything they can, to ensure Ukraine has what it needs to continue to deal with Russia’s ongoing aggression… Ukraine will become a member of NATO. Our purpose at the summit is to help build a bridge to that membership, and to create a clear pathway for Ukraine moving forward… we will see very strong support for Ukraine moving forward with its relationship going forwards with NATO.
But we are equally focussed as I said on the immediate, and on Ukraine’s needs today, tomorrow, the day after to help it withstand this ongoing aggression from Russia. (Breitbart)

Iran Asks US To ‘Step Aside’ As Plans For Retaliation Mount, Iranian Official Says
|
|
Iran asked the United States to not interfere in its plans for retaliation against Israel, an Iranian official alleged Friday.
Mohammad Jamshidi, Iran’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs, claimed in a tweet that this exchange occurred.
“In a written message, the Islamic Republic of Iran warned America not to fall into Netanyahu’s trap: step aside so you don’t get hit. In response, America asked Iran not to hit American targets,” Jamshidi tweeted.
The U.S. warned, as opposed to “asked,” Iran not to use this as a pretext to attack U.S. facilities and personnel, a State Dept. spokesperson told the Daily Caller. The spokesperson confirmed that the U.S. did receive a message from Iran but did not specify the message’s contents. Read more

Verdict: Colorado Springs-area resident found guilty on all charges in Capitol breach trial in D.C.

After a lengthy deliberation that’s been rare for Capitol breach cases, Falcon resident Rebecca Lavrenz, known on social media as the “J6 Praying Grandma,” was convicted on all four federal misdemeanor charges for her participation in the Jan. 6, 2021, protest of the 2020 presidential election results in Washington, D.C.
The trial began March 25 in federal district court in the District of Columbia and ended after nearly 26 hours of deliberation, a 12-member jury found Lavrenz guilty of entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a capitol building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol.
The 71-year-old great grandmother and owner of a bed-and-breakfast business where she lives about 14 miles northeast of Colorado Springs could be sentenced to up to a year in prison and ordered to pay fines of more than $200,000, which excludes legal fees.
She will be sentenced Aug. 12.
"I was surprised," she told The Gazette Thursday after the verdict. "I believe God wanted it to turn out this way so my voice could be amplified. We have to wake up our country."
- Lord, this verdict is a travesty, and should never have occurred as it has for so many others. We ask that You touch Ms. Lavrenz with Your power and comfort, as well as the gift of faith. At 71 years of age, any time spent in prison could cause dire issues. We pray for mercy, that the sentence would be suspended.

1. IDF ends active ground invasion, completely withdraws from southern Gaza - Jerusalem Post
The IDF on Sunday announced that it had concluded the active invasion stage of the war for now while leaving open the possibility of a future new invasion of Rafah in deep southern Gaza.
In terms of IDF soldiers, this means that the IDF has withdrawn all of Division 98 from Khan Yunis in southern Gaza while maintaining one plus brigades - the Nahal brigade and portions of Brigade 401 – in northern and central Gaza.
Although a top IDF official said that this change had nothing to do with US pressure, the timing was unmistakable in coming right after the IDF’s disastrous mistaken killing of seven humanitarian aid workers last week. (Read more)

2. Gallant: IDF withdrawal from Khan Yunis in preparation for Rafah operation - Jerusalem Post
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said on Sunday that the IDF withdrew from Khan Yunis after Hamas ceased to function in the area, adding that the troops left in preparation for a coming Rafah operation.
While speaking at the IDF's Southern Command base, he stated, "The withdrawal of the troops from Khan Yunis was carried out after Hamas ceased to function as a military organization in the city, the forces left to prepare for the operation in Rafah."
The defense minister said this in light of a situational assessment held at the IDF's Southern Command with the Director General of the Defense Ministry, Major General (res.) Eyal Zamir, commander Major General Yaron Finkelman, and other staff officers. (Read more)

3. Netanyahu: No Gaza Truce Without Release of Hostages - Algemeiner
Israel’s Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu said on Sunday that Israel would not agree to a ceasefire after six months of war against Hamas in Gaza until the hostages being held in Gaza arereleased.
His comments made at the start of a weekly cabinet meeting came as a new round of truce talks in Egypt are set to begin.
Netanyahu said that despite growing international pressure, Israel would not give in to “extreme” demands from Gaza‘s Islamist rulers Hamas, which sparked the war on Oct. 7 with its deadly attack on southern Israel. (Read more)

4. Former British PM blasts ‘insane’ plan for arms embargo of Israel - World Israel News
Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson lambasted calls for an arms embargo against Israel, saying such proposals constituted a “death wish” for Western civilization.
Johnson, the 59-year-old Conservative former Mayor of London who served as premier from 2019 to 2022, tore into advocates of a ban on arms sales to Israel Friday, penning an editorial piece published by The Daily Mail.
“If you want an example of the death wish of Western civilisation,” Johnson wrote, “I give you the current proposal from members of the British establishment that this country should ban arms sales to Israel.”
Calling the idea “government madness,” Johnson slammed attorneys working for the Foreign Office he said have been lobbying for an arms embargo against Israel. (Read more)

5. Two Israelis wounded in Samaria terror shooting - JNS
Two Israelis were wounded on Sunday in a shooting attack in western Samaria.
According to medics, a woman in her 20s was seriously wounded and a man in his 40s was moderately hurt. The female victim, later identified as an Israel Defense Forces soldier, was evacuated to Beilinson Medical Center in Petach Tikvah and the man was being treated at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba.
One was wounded by gunfire directed at a bus and the other was hit while driving a car. The attack occurred east of Qalqilya on Route 55, between the Palestinian towns of Azzun and Nabi Ilyas.
IDF troops were dispatched to the scene and police blocked the highway in both directions. (Read more)

1: Letitia James Questions Trump’s $175M Bond Deal, Judge Schedules Hearing- Breitbart
New York Attorney General Letitia James is questioning whether the surety company covering former President Donald Trump’s $175 million bond is capable of fulfilling its obligation.
On April 1, Trump posted a $175 million bond to prevent James from seizing assets after an appeals court ruled the former president could post the bond amount to cover a civil fraud judgment of $464 million.
The firm that underwrote the bond is Knight Specialty Insurance Company. The company essentially promised to cover the $175 million bond if Trump loses his appeal and fails to pay. Trump paid Knight Specialty Insurance Company a fee and pledged cash as collateral to obtain Knight Specialty Insurance Company’s coverage.
James questions the company’s ability to cover the sum of the bond, a Thursday court filing showed. Judge Arthur Engoron, who determined Trump’s civil judgment, tentatively scheduled a hearing for April 22 to discuss James objections, the New York Times reported:
In a court filing on Thursday, Ms. James noted that Knight was not registered to issue appeal bonds in New York, and so she demanded that the company or Mr. Trump’s lawyers file paperwork to “justify” the bond within 10 days. Ms. James is seeking to clarify whether Knight, which had never posted a similar court bond before aiding Mr. Trump, is financially capable of fulfilling its obligation to pay the $175 million if Mr. Trump defaults.
Even if Knight lacks the funds itself, the company should be able to tap the collateral Mr. Trump pledged.
In a statement on Thursday, a lawyer for Mr. Trump, Christopher M. Kise, slammed Ms. James, calling her case a “baseless and vindictive political crusade” and her objections to the bond an effort “to stir up some equally baseless public quarrel in a desperate effort to regain relevance.” (Read more)

A significant financier of Nikki Haley’s presidential run is now throwing his weight behind former President Donald Trump.
According to an updated copy of the invitation to a fundraiser for a joint fundraising committee backing President Trump seen by The Epoch Times, Warren Stephens will be a co-chair of the Trump 47 Committee’s so-called Inaugural Leadership Dinner to be held on April 6 in Palm Beach, Florida.
The invitation said President Trump will be in attendance, along with Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, all of whom were candidates in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. (Read more)

3. White House: ‘Imprudent’ to Compare Israeli WCK Strike to Afghan Strike ‘Three Years’ Ago in ‘Different’ Circumstances - Breitbart
On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “The Story,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby responded to questions on how the 2021 U.S. strike in Afghanistan that killed an aid worker is different from the Israeli strike that killed World Central Kitchen workers are different by stating that it’s “imprudent to try to compare two things that happened three years apart in two different conflicts.” And there was an independent investigation of the Afghanistan strike, “and that independent investigator found that there was no need for personal accountability to be had, but did find that the U.S. military needed to make some systemic changes, procedural changes in how we looked at intelligence and acted on that intelligence.”
Host Martha MacCallum asked, [relevant exchange begins around 3:25] “When we left Afghanistan, we had a similar, tragic Hellfire missile attack that landed and killed ten people, a man who was carrying water, bringing water as part of humanitarian aid, and, at that point, when you were asked, what are we going to do about that, who’s accountable for that? 4: Antony Blinken Warns Israel Becoming Like Hamas; Losing ‘Reverence for Human Life’-Breitbart
Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned that Israel was becoming like the terrorist organization Hamas in remarks on Thursday, suggesting that both showed the same disregard for civilian life — evidence to the contrary.
The Times of Israel reported:
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warns that Israel risks becoming indistinguishable from Hamas if it continues to fail to protect civilians amid the Gaza war.
“What happened after October 7 could have ended immediately if Hamas had stopped hiding behind civilians, released the hostages and put down its weapons, but Israel is not Hamas. Israel is a democracy; Hamas, a terrorist organization. Democracies place the highest value on human life, every human life. As it has been said, whoever saves a life, saves the entire world,” Blinken says during a press conference in Brussels, quoting a Jewish proverb.
“That’s our strength. It’s what distinguishes us from terrorists like Hamas. If we lose that reverence for human life, we risk becoming indistinguishable from those we confront.”
Blinken did not provide evidence that Israel was failing to protect civilians. Earlier this week, Israel concluded a two-week battle in which it killed 200 terrorists who had holed up in Shifa Hospital. There were zero civilian casualties. (Read more)

5. Arson Suspected After Fire At Bernie Sanders’ Vermont Office; Senator Safe, No Injuries- Daily Caller
The office of Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders caught on fire Friday and authorities suspect the incident as an arson attack, multiple outlets reported.
The Burlington Fire Department responded to a fire at Sanders’ Vermont office, and it is now being investigated as arson. The fire started in the entrance of the building, which houses Sanders‘ only state congressional office. Surveillance footage caught a man spraying a flammable liquid on the door, according to CNN.
“He then lit the accelerant and fled,” the release said, CNN reported. “A significant fire engulfed the door and part of the vestibule, impeding the egress of staff members who were working in the office and endangering their lives. (Read more)

6. Biden admin cancels plan to refill emergency oil reserve amid high prices- Fox/MSN
The Biden administration has abruptly canceled a plan announced last month to purchase up to three million barrels of oil as part of its effort to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
The SPR – which Congress established for emergency situations – currently contains 363.6 million barrels of oil, a 43% decline from January 2021 when President Biden took office, federal data shows. Biden began depleting the reserve in late 2021 to combat high fuel prices.
The Department of Energy said that while it remains committed to refilling the SPR, it would pull back its most recent solicitation for oil amid increasing prices. On March 14, DOE's Office of Petroleum Reserves announced the solicitation for three million barrels of oil to be delivered in August and September to its Bayou Choctaw site in Louisiana, one of four major SPR storage facilities.
"Keeping the taxpayer’s interest at the forefront, we will not award for the Bayou Choctaw SPR site in August and September, and will continue to solicit available capacity as market conditions allow," a DOE spokesperson said. "As always, we monitor market dynamics to remain nimble.” (Read more)

7. SEC Pauses ‘Extremist Climate Mandate’ After Challenge From Republican Attorneys General - Daily Wire
The Securities and Exchange Commission paused implementation of a climate rule requiring certain companies to disclose greenhouse gas emissions after a coalition of Republican-led states challenged the rule.
On Thursday, the SEC alerted the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals that it would hold off finalizing the climate rule while it faced a lawsuit from 25 states led by Iowa. The states argue that the SEC has overstepped its authority by attempting to put in place the climate rule without congressional approval.
“Today’s victory shuts down the most outrageous climate mandate for businesses since Biden took office,” said Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird. “The SEC’s job is to protect people from fraud. It has no business slapping companies with extremist climate mandates. We are making it clear that Biden has to follow the law like everyone else.”
“By halting this mandate, we are protecting business from costly red tape, securing our supply chain, and defending family farms,” she added. “Next, we are going to make this win permanent!”
In a Thursday filing, the SEC told the Eight Circuit, which is reviewing challenges to the rule, that “that the Final Rules are stayed pending completion of judicial review of the consolidated Eighth Circuit petitions.” (Read more)

Democrat Michigan Gov. Whitmer signs pro-LGBT law allowing paid surrogacy, protecting IVF

Pro-lifers in Michigan are condemning Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer for signing into law a pro-LGBT bill that allows women to be compensated for renting their wombs to people who are looking a obtain a child through surrogacy.
On Monday at a press conference in Royal Oak, Whitmer approved the misleadingly named “Michigan Family Protection Act.” Among other things, the package of nine bills overturns the state’s 36-year-old Surrogate Parenting Act, which outlawed the unethical practice of paid surrogacy in 1988. It also ensures in vitro fertilization.
“This is the most pro-family thing that the legislature has done,” Whitmer absurdly claimed at the event.
Right to Life (RTL) Michigan and the Michigan Catholic Conference (MCC) have both issued stinging rebukes of the changes, which will go into effect three months after the 2024 legislative session due to the Senate not obtaining two-thirds approval.
“For profit surrogacy contracts that pay females for the use of their reproductive means violate the inherent dignity of women and unethically allow children to be the subject of a contract. The practice of surrogacy undermines the significant prenatal bond formed between a child and the mother who nurtured him or her through birth,” MCC said in a press statement earlier this week. Multiple regions across the US declare state of emergency in preparation for solar eclipse

Multiple regions across the US declared a state of emergency in preparation for the solar eclipse that will transverse the continental US on April 8. While Monday’s eclipse will be at least partially visible throughout all 48 contiguous states, officials are concerned that tourists will flood areas where the totality can be viewed. The path of totality-where the moon completely blocks the face of the sun – begins in Texas and heads in a narrow band up toward the Northeast, stretching across portions of 13 US states and parts of Canada and Mexico. There will not be another visible total solar eclipse in the contiguous U.S. for another two decades, until 2044, according to NASA.
Many of the regions are expecting record numbers of visitors on the day of the eclipse.
In New York, Officials in Essex County declared a state of emergency Wednesday to run from April 6-10, according to NBC affiliate WPTZ. Oswego County, New York made a similar announcement, according to WSYR.
Officials in Kaufman, Bell, Kerr, Coryell, Gatesville, and Travis counties in Texas announced that a state of emergency will begin on April 5 and go through April 9.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb issued a state of emergency declaration on March 26, effective until 11:59 p.m. on April 9
The panic has even spread to Canada. Ontario’s Niagara Region has declared a preemptive state of emergency.
Generally, a state of emergency gives the government the authority to do whatever is necessary for the safety of people and the protection of property. Typical actions can include restricting movements, shutting down traffic routes, suspending regulations to expedite response, and creating new emergency legal sanctions. (Read more)

Commentary from Bridge Connector: A warning has been given. I believe America, as a nation, needs to repent of its role in seeking to divide the land of Israel to make a Palestinian state. Now it is up to us to take time, collectively, as God’s people to repent of this atrocious national sin and ask for God’s forgiveness, His mercy, and His grace. Who knows… perhaps the LORD will change His mind and hold back judgment … if we will only repent.

Solar Eclipse Finds its Center in the Empty Cross

The total solar eclipse crossing the country on Monday, April 8 is passing over Kerrville, TX, the home of an incredible prayer garden that shares the Gospel through artwork and a 77-foot 7-inch cross visible from nearby Interstate 10. The sculpture, aptly named the "Empty Cross," outlines a cross. Max Greiner, the creator of the cross and garden, is a fervent former Southern Baptist who enjoys sharing how he received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and witnessed people coming to Jesus, even experiencing miracles when visiting the prayer garden. He claims that 100 people canceled suicides after encountering Jesus there.
I've known Max for years; he's always enthusiastic about the Lord and his latest projects. Last fall, when an annular eclipse on Oct. 14, 2023, passed over Kerrville, he mentioned that both that eclipse and the one this month only passed at the prayer garden, forming a huge cross. He finds significance in this, as apparently do many others. Up to 100,000 people are expected to visit the Texas town with a population of 24,000.
