Oklahoma state House approves bill to make abortion illegal
|
|
OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma House gave final legislative approval on Tuesday to a bill that would make performing an abortion a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
With little discussion and no debate, the Republican-controlled House voted 70-14 to send the bill to Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt, who has previously said he'd sign any anti-abortion bill that comes to his desk.
The bill is one of several anti-abortion measures still alive in Oklahoma’s Legislature this year, part of a trend of GOP-led states passing aggressive anti-abortion legislation as the conservative U.S. Supreme Court is considering ratcheting back abortion rights that have been in place for nearly 50 years.
The Oklahoma bill, which passed the Senate last year, makes an exception only for an abortion performed to save the life of the mother, said GOP state Rep. Jim Olsen, of Roland, who sponsored the bill. Under the bill, a person convicted of performing an abortion would face up to 10 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
“The penalties are for the doctor, not for the woman," Olsen said. (ABC News) Read more here.

- Praise the Lord for legislators, governors and citizens who will stand up and be counted for life in the states. Here is another one worthy of honor. We thank You, Jesus, for putting it in the hearts of the Oklahoma legislature to take the position to pass strong laws which protect unborn babies in the womb. May there be such grace upon this state and may believers reach out and shepherd those who are in need of love and guidance.
- "'Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?'" (Matthew 6:25)

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott directs use of buses to drop off migrants at steps of Capitol in DC
|
|
The move came weeks before Title 42 is set to expire per Biden's orders in May
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday that undocumented migrants released into his state will be shipped to the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., as border checkpoints struggle to manage the flow of people attempting to enter the United States and the Biden administration's move to eliminate the Title 42 expulsion provision.
The state will provide charter buses to drop off migrants – many released into small Texas communities that officials say are overwhelmed – in Washington, the Republican governor said in a news conference.
"We are sending them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration will be able to more immediately address the needs of the people that they are allowing to come across our border," Abbott said.
He noted that cities along the Texas-Mexico border have bused migrants to San Antonio.
"So I said I got a better idea. As opposed to busing these people to San Antonio, let's continue the ride all the way to Washington D.C.," Abbott said.
The first location where migrants will be dropped off is the U.S. Capitol, officials said.
W. Nim Kidd, chief of the Texas Division of Emergency Management, said his agency will "use as many buses as we need" to follow Abbott's directive. In past emergencies, up to 900 buses have been activated for evacuations, he said. (Foxx News) Read much more

- Father God, we shout HALLELUJAH at this news out of Texas! We thank You for Governor Greg Abbott - for his courage and his wisdom, and his desire to protect the lives of the citizens of his state. We ask that, as these 900 busses make their way up to Washington, D.C., that their mission would be totally successful and that no one would hinder them in any way.
More important, O Lord, we ask that Your Hand of protection would rest upon Governor Abbott, his family and his staff as they prepare to undertake this project. We bind the hands of the enemy - especially the cartel - that would seek to attack in a move of backlash. Thank You, O Lord, for hearing our prayer, and thank You again for Governor Greg Abbott. In Your Mighty name we pray, amen and amen.
- “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 18:18)

1. Bennett’s government in crisis as whip Silman quits, stripping coalition of majority - Times of Israel
Plunging the government into crisis, coalition whip Idit Silman announced Wednesday that she is quitting and will instead work to form a new, right-wing government without a resort to new elections.
Silman’s announcement, which she said was due to the “harming” of Jewish identity in Israel, means that the coalition no longer has a majority.
“I will not abet the harming of the Jewish identity of the State of Israel and the people of Israel. I will continue to try to persuade my friends to return home and form a right-wing government,” she said in a statement. “I know I am not the only one who feels this way. Another government can be formed in this Knesset.” (Times of Israel) Read more.

2. Closer to new elections? Yamina lawmaker quits government, coalition loses majority - World Israel News
Coalition whip Idit Silman of the Yamina party resigned from the government on Wednesday morning, announcing in a statement that she could no longer support damaging the Jewish identity of Israel.
“I tried unity, as someone who comes from the world of common good, I worked hard for the current coalition,” said Silman in her statement.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to support harming the Jewish character of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. You aren’t aware of everything, because I tried doing things quietly.” (Read more)

3. ANALYSIS: Bennett’s coalition has lost its majority. Could Netanyahu’s Likud now regain power? - Times of Israel
Wednesday’s resignation of Yamina MK Idit Silman, the coalition whip, from Naftali Bennett’s eight-party government has thrown Israeli politics back into chaos, depriving the coalition of its parliamentary majority and opening up the possibility of a Likud-led government.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s party has two main potential paths for a return to power, neither of them straightforward. Silman’s resignation bombshell, however, has caused chaos in the coalition, less than 10 months after it took charge, and with an invigorated Likud pushing for further defections, the opposition is showing optimism about its prospects for forcing Bennett’s right-center-left-Arab alliance out of office.
The first option for a Likud-led return to power would be for it to pass a law to dissolve the Knesset and hold new elections. To pass, this law would require the support of at least 61 of the 120 members of Knesset. (A simple majority is not sufficient.)

4. Iran Moves Machines for Making Centrifuge Parts to Natanz: UN Nuclear Watchdog - Algemeiner
Iran has moved all its machines that make centrifuge parts from its mothballed workshop at Karaj to its sprawling Natanz site just six weeks after it set up another site at Isfahan to make the same parts, the UN nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday.
Iran granted International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors access to Karaj in December to re-instal surveillance cameras there after a months-long standoff that followed what Tehran said was Israeli sabotage that destroyed one camera and badly damaged another, prompting Iran to remove all four cameras.
A month later, Iran told the IAEA it was moving production of the parts for advanced centrifuges, machines that enrich uranium, to a new location in Isfahan, and the IAEA set up cameras there to monitor that work. (Read more)

5. Ukraine’s envoy walks out of Israeli briefing over Gantz’s comments - Times of Israel
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk walked out of a briefing to foreign ambassadors given by Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Wednesday, after Gantz supposedly called the Russian invasion a “conflict” and even-handedly discussed Israel’s ties with both parties.
“Mr. Gantz started to talk about the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and that they are talking with both Ukrainian and Russian friends or colleagues,” Korniychuk told The Times of Israel.
“Listen, if on the 42nd day of the war, with the bloodshed and massacre that Russia has been doing against innocent Ukrainian people, you are still calling this a conflict, there is really nothing to talk about,” Korniychuk continued. (Read more)

6. How Jews in Ukraine will celebrate Passover - JNS
(April 6, 2022 / Chabad.org/News)They will be in shelters, private homes, refugee camps, synagogues and military bases. But come what may, when night falls on Passover eve on April 15, the Jews of Ukraine will pause to eat matzah and bitter herbs, drink four cups of wine, recall the miracles of the Exodus and look forward to better times.
After all, even during the harshest of times—when Stalin’s minions hunted down and shot Jews caught passing on Judaism to the next generation—millions of Soviet Jews, half of whom lived in Ukraine, clung to these precious Passover rituals.
Now, amid a devastating war, they’ll be doing it again.
In light of the fact that most people will not be able to leave their homes, Chabad-Lubavitch’s Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine, directed by Rabbi Mayer Stambler, has prepared more than 50,000 seder kits, replete with shmurah matzah, grape juice, bitter herbs, Haggadah booklets and everything else needed to celebrate the “Festival of Freedom.” (Read more)

1. Biden 'purposefully purging Christians from the military' - WND
Joe Biden is using the Chinese virus, COVID-19, and the medical community's insistence on vaccinations for everyone literally to be "willfully and purposefully purging Christians from the military." The comment comes from Mat Staver, the founder of the organization Liberty Counsel which has been involved in the legal war over the Biden regime's unwarranted campaign.
The issue is that a lot of Christians across America raise objections to the COVID-19 vaccines because of their links to abortion. It's not that they "contain" aborted fetal cells, but medical authorities, even those who advocate for their use, have to admit that drugs today are tested using "fetal cell lines" started years ago.
From that case a line of cells, named HEK-293, was developed and those cells still are being "used by the drug companies making vaccines against the coronavirus." (Read more)
- Lord God, with all of the inconsistencies and false information being exposed about this virus we pray Lord that you would provide the resources for our fellow believers in the military to be able to stand their ground without giving in to these vaccine mandates. Thank you for coming to their aid Lord God! And thank you for all the believers serving this country protecting our freedoms and Godly values. In Jesus name. Amen.
- “So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6)

2. Democratic lawyer Sussmann doesn’t want Steele dossier brought up during Durham trial - Washington Examiner
The Democratic cybersecurity lawyer charged by special counsel John Durham with lying to the FBI about working for the Clinton campaign doesn’t want British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s dossier brought up at the trial following indications from the special counsel that it will be.
Michael Sussmann was indicted last year on charges of concealing his clients, Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and “tech executive” Rodney Joffe, from FBI general counsel James Baker when he pushed since-debunked claims of a secret backchannel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa-Bank. He has pleaded not guilty.
Steele created his now-discredited dossier after being hired by opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which was itself hired by Perkins Coie and Marc Elias, the general counsel for Clinton’s campaign. Durham appears to be building a case that many collusion claims can be sourced back to Democratic operatives or linked to the Clinton campaign. (Read more)

3. House Republicans send letter to Hunter Biden law firm seeking preservation of records - Fox News
Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have sent a letter to Hunter Biden’s legal team asking him to "immediately" preserve any records related to any business dealings he was engaged in during the Obama administration as well as records related to his notorious laptop that he left at a Delaware repair shop.
"This investigation matters because of what we owe the American people: The full history of the collusion and coverup that we know took place in 2020, and the history yet to be written about what we did to ensure this abuse of power can never happen again," California Rep. Darrell Issa, a senior committee member, told Fox News Digital in a statement after sending the letter. "Jim Jordan, my colleagues and I are ready to see this through to the end."
In the letter, the House Republicans reference a bombshell report from the New York Post published in the weeks leading up to the 2020 presidential election detailing the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop that suggested he was using his father’s position of power for his own financial gain. 4. Biden wrote college recommendation letter for son of Hunter's Chinese business partner, emails reveal - Fox News
President Biden, in 2017, wrote a college recommendation letter for the son of a Chinese executive who did business with Hunter Biden, according to emails reviewed by Fox News Digital. The president has repeatedly denied discussing Hunter's business ventures with his son. Fox News Digital obtained emails between Hunter Biden and his business associates involved in his firm Rosemont Seneca’s joint venture with Chinese investment firms Bohai Capital and BHR.
Hunter held a 10% stake in BHR as recently as last year, the White House previously acknowledged. Hunter's attorney told the New York Times in November that he had since divested. In an email dated Jan. 3, 2017, and sent to Hunter Biden and his business associates Devon Archer and Jim Bulger, CEO of BHR Jonathan Li writes:
"Gentlmen[sic], please find the attached resume of my son, Chris Li. He is applying the following colleges for this year," Li writes, listing Brown University, Cornell University, and New York University.
The emails originated from a laptop said to belong to Hunter Biden. When asked about the contents of the emails, White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told Fox News Digital: "We don't comment on the laptop." (Read more)

5. Epstein victim claims the pedophile and Bill Clinton Shared a hotel suite on South Africa trip - The Daily Mail
One of Jeffrey Epstein's victims claimed the pedophile shared a hotel suite in South Africa with Bill Clinton and that it was the former president's proximity to him that gave the billionaire credibility and made her trust him - a mistake that she said led to years of abuse.
Juliette Bryant, 39, who filed a 2019 lawsuit against Epstein's estate alleging he raped her for years in his homes around the world, told The Daily Beast she first met Epstein in Cape Town in September 2002 when he was touring South Africa with Clinton and that both were staying at the Cape Grace luxury hotel.
'That's what gave Epstein credibility,' Bryant told the Daily Beast. 'The fact that he was with Clinton.' ‘I was completely conned,' she said, referencing her allegations that Epstein would go on to rape her up to three times a day until 2004. 'I wouldn't go with some random man to the Caribbean. He seemed legitimate. Clinton gave him credibility.'
Bryant was taken on his private jet to his Caribbean island where she became trapped in the sex trafficking operation 'run' by Epstein and 'operated' by Ghislaine Maxwell. Speaking in BBC2 series House of Maxwell, which premiered on Monday, Bryant tells how she watched other victims perform sex acts on Epstein and was sexually assaulted by the predator on a number of occasions over almost two years. She estimates she saw 60 girls and women in the time she was there. (Read more)

6. GOP senator tries to pass bill on child porn, blasts Dems for blocking it - DML
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced on Tuesday that he tried to pass a bill that would allow tougher sentences on people caught with child pornography, but the Democrats blocked it. A report by The Post Millennial shared the following information:
Hawley’s bill, called the “Prosecutorial Remedies and Other Tools to end the Exploitation of Children Today Act,” or the “PROTECT Act Bill of 2022,” would implement harsher penalties for those convicted of possessing child pornography, and prohibit judges from issuing sentences lower than the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The bill amends Section 3553(b)(2) of title 18 of the United States Code, and states that those convicted of a child pornography offense should receive a sentence “that is not less than the minimum period in the sentencing range.”
“I just went to the Senate floor to try to pass a bill toughening sentences on child pornographers. And the Democrats blocked it, again calling the child porn crisis a “conspiracy theory.” And that tells you everything you need to know,” Hawley declared in a Twitter post. (Read more)
- Lord God we pray a special blessing on any bill or legislation that is written, not only today but in the days to come, that is designed to protect our children. We pray that, when they come to a vote, that they would have the full support of both parties. Protecting children from evil should not be a partisan issue. We plead the blood over all the children all over the world and we thank you Lord that your angels and your Holy Spirit are looking after each and everyone of them helping them fulfill their purpose and destiny in Jesus name amen.

7. Biden administration endorses transgender youth sex-change operations, 'top surgery,' hormone therapy - Fox News
President Biden's administration has released a series of documents encouraging gender-reassignment surgery and hormone treatments for minors. The Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Population Affairs released a document Thursday titled "Gender Affirming Care and Young People." The same day, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Child Traumatic Stress Network – another subset of the HHS – released a parallel document titled, "Gender-Affirming Care Is Trauma-Informed Care."
The HHS documents describe what it calls appropriate treatments for transgender adolescents, including: "'Top' surgery – to create male-typical chest shape or enhance breasts;" and "'Bottom' surgery – surgery on genitals or reproductive organs, facial feminization or other procedures."
"Medical and psychosocial gender affirming healthcare practices have been demonstrated to yield lower rates of adverse mental health outcomes, build self-esteem, and improve overall quality of life for transgender and gender diverse youth," the OPA release states. (Read more)

8. Loudoun schools told teachers to keep gender transitions secret from parents - Washington Examiner
Loudoun County School District officials instructed staff to avoid informing a transgender student's parents about their child's gender identity unless the student gives the school expressed permission, according to materials from the training.
The slides from the August training were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by Ian Prior, the executive director of the political action committee called Fight for Schools, which has organized efforts to recall several members of the Loudoun County School Board.
The training was part of the implementation of district policy 8040, which was passed in August 2021, and established districtwide policies regarding the treatment of transgender students, including allowing students to use the bathroom corresponding to their gender identity, rather than their biological sex. - Lord God, it is not normal for adults to try to manipulate and convince children to keep things from their parents. We understand that it is not the people but the powers that work behind them that are trying to divide the family unit. The enemy knows that there is power in family and in unity and he is trying to destroy it. But we stand up and we say no! You will not divide children against their parents. We pray and declare that you would strengthen the family unit like never before and that there would be massive unity in the body of Christ like we’ve never seen before. Amen.

9. Arizona Will Require Voters to Prove Citizenship, Residency - Newsmax
Arizona's Republican governor on Wednesday signed a bill requiring voters to prove their citizenship to vote in a presidential election, drawing fierce opposition from voting rights advocates who say it risks affecting some 200,000 people.
The bill also requires anyone newly registering to vote to provide proof of their address. The Legislature’s own lawyers say much of the measure is unconstitutional, directly contradicts a recent Supreme Court decision and is likely to be thrown out in court. Still, voting rights advocates worry the bill is an attempt to get back in front of the now more conservative Supreme Court.
"Election integrity means counting every lawful vote and prohibiting any attempt to illegally cast a vote,” Ducey said in a letter explaining his decision to sign the bill. He called the bill "a balanced approach that honors Arizona’s history of making voting accessible without sacrificing security in our elections." (Read more)

10. Finnish MP Is Acquitted of 'Hate Speech' Charges over Biblical Views on Marriage, Sexuality - Christian Headlines
A Finnish Parliamentarian has been cleared on all charges after being accused of “hate speech” for expressing her biblical beliefs on marriage and sexuality. Alliance Defending Freedom International, which represented Finnish MP Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola, announced that in a unanimous ruling, a Finnish court concluded that “it is not for the district court to interpret biblical concepts.”
“I am so grateful the court recognized the threat to free speech and ruled in our favour. I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders after being acquitted. Although I am grateful for having had this chance to stand up for freedom of speech, I hope that this ruling will help prevent others from having to go through the same ordeal,” Räsänen said after the ruling on Wednesday.
Räsänen, a former Minister of the Interior, was accused of spreading “hate speech” after she publicly shared her stance on biblical marriage and sexual ethics. The accusations were based on a 2004 pamphlet in which she breaks down biblical sexuality, a 2019 tweet in which she criticized the leadership of the Finnish Lutheran Church for supporting Pride Month, and comments she made on homosexuality during a 2019 radio debate. Stupidocrisy: Federal Election Commission
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, April 6, 2022
The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) is supposed to be the guardian of election laws. Time after time, this FECkless agency has failed to protect election integrity because of its snail-paced bureaucratic methods and an almost laughable accountability system. As a former political consultant who saw numerous campaigns violate the law, the FEC was mostly ineffective in protecting elections and holding violating parties to the law. As we see with the latest headline of FEC action against the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton, if one is expecting justice when someone violates election laws, don’t look to the FEC. It has failed to pass the credibility test with its latest fines in the Russian dossier case.
In a March 29 letter to the Coolidge Reagan Foundation, FEC lawyer Richard Weiss stated: ”This is in reference to the complaint you filed with the Federal Election Commission on September 2, 2018, concerning the above-captioned respondents. After conducting an investigation in this matter, the Commission found probable cause to believe that the DNC Services Corp./Democratic National Committee and Virginia McGregor in her official capacity as treasurer (the “DNC”) violated 52 U.S.C. § 30104(b)(5)(A) and (b)(6)(B)(v) and 11 C.F.R. § 104.3(b)(3)(i). The Commission further found probable cause to believe that Hillary for America and Elizabeth Jones in her official capacity as treasurer (“HFA”) violated 52 U.S.C. 30104(b)(5)(A) and 11 C.F.R. § 104.3(b)(4)(i).” Read More

Colorado Legalizes Abortion Until the Moment of Birth

Democrat Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado
|
|
DENVER (LifeSiteNews) — Democrat Gov. Jared Polis of Colorado signed a bill into law on Monday that allows babies to be killed in the womb up until the moment of birth.
“No matter what the Supreme Court does in the future, people in Colorado will be able to choose when and if they have children,” Polis said at the signing ceremony in downtown Denver, referencing the possible reversal of Roe v. Wade in the coming weeks.
“We want to make sure that our state is a place where everyone can live and work and thrive and raise a family on their own terms,” the pro-abortion politician added.
The bill itself states that it will be illegal in Colorado to “deny, restrict, interfere with or discriminate against an individual’s fundamental right to use or refuse contraception or to continue a pregnancy and give birth or to have an abortion,” while adding that “a fertilized egg, embryo or fetus does not have independent or derivative rights under the laws of the state.”
“Besides the all-out war against children in-utero, because it defines abortion as a right, the law could also be used to attempt to force medical professionals to commit or participate in abortions. There are zero conscience protections in the law,” reacted pro-life advocate Lila Rose on social media.
“Abortion at 9 months?!” added musician Flint Bedrock, “That’s murder!” (Read more)

- Oh King Jesus! There is an established, biblical morality that declares 'Thou shalt not murder'. Legislating for the right to kill a baby up until the time it is delivered from its mother is an unconscionable act of evil sin. We pray for this legislation to be annihilated from the face of the earth by the righteous presence of a Holy and Just God. Father, wake up the Christians sheltering in Colorado and strengthen them to stop this wickedness, in Jesus' name.
- "But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: 'Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.'" (Matthew 12:25)

HOW CAN YOU STILL CALL THIS POLITICS?
By Mario Murillo
|
|
|
Something has happened. An invisible line has been crossed. A very tired and obsolete excuse has expired. What excuse, you ask? The one that goes like this: “As a Christian, I don’t believe that we should be involved in politics.”
As incredible as it may seem, people are still saying things like that.
There is a special punishment mentioned in Scripture about remaining silent when a generation is headed for disaster. And that Scripture mentions nothing about a ‘political’ exemption. Proverbs 24:11-12, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those who stumble to the slaughter. If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He Who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?”
The Satanic agenda being pushed by the Left is killing people. It is drawing them toward death. But you can’t speak up because that would be ‘politics.’
There is a special punishment mentioned in Scripture about remaining silent when a generation is headed for disaster.
Look deeply into the eyes of a champion swimmer. She trained all of her life to be in this final event. She even broke a record, but she came in second. The medal she won has been stolen by a male swimmer. Can you feel the devastation? The unfairness? How can you still call this ‘just politics?’
Maybe you didn’t know that kindergarteners are stumbling toward the slaughter, led there by activist teachers who are confusing them about their gender, and pushing them to get hormones and surgery without any permission from their parents. And still, you don’t want to say anything, because that would be political. Wait. What? A teacher taking a child in kindergarten aside and grooming them for the LGBTQ agenda. How is this debatable? How can you insist on being silent?
Walt Disney Corporation is using their considerable power to fight a war against parents. Disney is fighting against a law signed by Gov. DeSantis, that would not have been necessary in a decent society. The law states that you must have my parental consent before talking to my child about gender. You can’t hide it from me anymore. And, oh yes, you can’t teach my child LGBTQ doctrine until the third grade.
You still think that parents who are fighting for their children are just ‘getting into politics?’ You still believe we should stay quiet?
How insane are the Leftists? They have gone from chanting “believe every woman,” to asking “what is a woman?”
Ketanji Brown Jackson, nominee for the Supreme Court, says she cannot define what a woman is, because, as she made the lame excuse, “I am not a biologist.” Yet, she seems to know a lot about biology when she declares that a fetus at full term is still not human—and can be legally killed, even after surviving an abortion. Last night, Tucker Carlson announced a death watch for the Biden presidency. In one of the most insightful, and pathetic, video clips in American political history, he showed the President of the United States being shunned by former President Barack Obama and, God help us, future President Kamala Harris – and everybody else – at a recent White House event.
Think of it as “dead man shuffling.”
Tucker not only confirmed what I said here ten days ago: “Joe must go.” He powerfully showed that to now be the consensus in partisan Democratic circles.
The chilling prospect of Kamala ascending and/or the curtain being pulled back on what is effectively Obama’s third term demands an urgent effort to identify and recruit a non-partisan vice president, someone of real accomplishment, with a robust national security background and who will promise not to run in 2024.
This is Frank Gaffney.

Deadly storms leave trail of destruction across southern US
|
|
Injuries and at least one death were reported across the South on Wednesday as intense storms barreled across the region, including one twister that triggered the first tornado emergency of 2022.
Active weather in the Southeast refused to let up Tuesday as tornadoes and severe storms touched down across several states, leaving at least one person dead. Threats from severe storms continue in the region and will stick around through Wednesday night, AccuWeather meteorologists say.
Storms rolled through Bryan County, Georgia, Tuesday, with the local Sheriff's Office commenting that the northern part of the county in eastern Georgia was "hard hit."
One fatality was confirmed in Pembroke, Georgia, located about 30 miles west of Savannah, when a suspected tornado tore through the town on Tuesday evening, The Associated Press said. Multiple injuries were also reported, but officials said those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Multiple tornadoes were seen on the ground in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina beginning in the early-afternoon hours Tuesday, with perhaps the most damage noted in Allendale County in southwestern South Carolina -- the least populous county of the state. A tornado was confirmed in the county at 4:05 p.m. EDT, with the county's 911 call center reporting that roofs were blown off of structures across the area. Read More

Jews, Christians to ascend to Jerusalem together in unity hike
|
|
Jews and Christians will take a five-day hike and ascend together to Jerusalem as part of a special program that will take place during the preparation period for Passover and Easter.
The hike, organized by Dr. Faydra Shapiro, executive director for the Israel Center for Jewish-Christian Relations in Tiberias, will take place April 6-10, departing from Emmaus Nicopolis (Latrun Junction) and arriving at Mt. Zion on Palm Sunday (Western church) at dawn. The program will include a communal Sabbath on what the Jews refer to as Shabbat HaGadol, the Sabbath directly preceding the pilgrimage festival of Passover. “We will be walking, learning, singing, engaging together, in preparation for the celebration of our respective holy days of Pesach and Easter,” Shapiro told The Jerusalem Post. “We have a group of about 25 people coming together for this: Jews, Catholics and Protestants. The group includes religious Jews, priests, nuns and ministers, and young men and women from Israel, Palestine and overseas.”
Shapiro sees this as a grassroots initiative and not as a training session. “It's important to us that this not be for Jewish-Christian relations ‘professionals’ or tour guides,” Shapiro said. “The event was designed for regular people to enter deeply into the Jewish-Christian relationship.”
The program includes two full days of hiking, followed by Shabbat together. The final leg will begin as Shabbat ends on Saturday night with a hike from Ein Kerem to Mount Zion. The arrival on Mount Zion is scheduled to coincide with the dawn. The Shabbat will be held in the pilgrims’ house in St. John in Montana Franciscan Monastery in Ein Kerem. “While I imagine we aren't the first people to celebrate Shabbat in a monastery, it's a beautiful opportunity to do so and to remember all that is possible between us,” Shapiro said.
Though Jews and Christians tend to be deeply involved in their own respective holidays at this time, Shapiro sees the holidays as a unique time for devotion that can unite. “Pesach is an event that both connects and divides Jews and Christians,” Shapiro said. “We want to dive into that space and explore it together, recognizing that as people who seek holiness through our own traditions, acknowledging that we have much to share and learn from one another. This year Pesach and Pascha [Easter] fall together. We will explore what they have to do with each other.” (Jerusalem Post) Read More

Saved by Grace

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: George Stebbins
Scripture: Ever the silver cord be loosed…then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:6–7
Lyrics:
Some day the silver cord will break,
And I no more as now shall sing;
But oh, the joy when I shall wake
Within the palace of the King!
Refrain
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.
Some day my earthly house will fall.
I cannot tell how soon ’twill be;
But this I know—my All in All
Has now a place in Heav’n for me.
Refrain
Some day, when fades the golden sun
Beneath the rosy tinted west,
My blessèd Lord will say, Well done!
And I shall enter into rest.
Refrain
Some day: till then I’ll watch and wait,
My lamp all trimmed and burning bright,
That when my Savior opens the gate,
My soul to Him may take its flight.
