Court to Block Biden Administration From Ending Title 42 Border Order
|
|
|
A federal judge on April 25 is set to block President Joe Biden’s administration from ending an emergency order that has been helping officials control the U.S.–Mexico border.
U.S. District Judge Robert Summerhays, a Trump appointee, told parties during a closed status conference that he intends to grant a motion for a temporary restraining order, according to minutes of the meeting released by the court.
“The parties will confer regarding the specific terms to be contained in the temporary restraining order and attempt to reach agreement,” the court reporter said.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican and one of the plaintiffs, celebrated the judge’s ruling.
“Joe Biden’s reckless decision to rescind Title 42 would have flooded our already stressed southern border with illegal immigrants,” Landry told The Epoch Times in a statement. “Fortunately, today a judge has granted our request to halt this enormous threat to our national security.”
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, a Republican and another plaintiff, called the ruling a “big win!” (Read more here)

1. Israel’s cyber directorate issues annual warning ahead of Iran’s ‘Jerusalem Day’ - Times of Israel
Israel’s National Cyber Directorate issued its annual warning on Sunday against possible cyberattacks to mark Iran’s Quds Day and the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Iran initiated Quds Day, or Jerusalem Day, in 1979, the year of the Islamic Revolution. It commemorates the day with anti-Israel speeches, events and threats to “liberate” Jerusalem from Israeli control.
The possible breaches of Israeli websites are expected on or around April 29 this year, and are coordinated by anti-Israel hackers around the world under the banner “#OPJerusalem.”

2. Peace Now blasts Independence Day Hebron, Gush Etzion flyover - Israel National News
Left-wing activists castigated Israel’s decision Sunday to include Israeli towns in Judea and Samaria in this year’s Independence Day flyover, calling the move an “outrage”.
Hours after it was announced that the 74th Independence Day flyover would include flights over Hebron and the communities of Gush Etzion, the left-wing Peace Now organization condemned the move, and expressed frustration that the government has yet to evacuate Israelis from the site of the former town of Homesh in Samaria.
“The decision to hold the Independence Day flyover above the settlements in Gush Etzion and Hebron is an outrage. While the IDF still has not evacuated Homesh and is avoiding taking action against settler violence, it is legitimizing the settlements established in violation of international law, which are not a part of the State of Israel.” (Read more)

3. Russian envoy: We’ll ‘respond accordingly’ if Israel gives Ukraine defensive gear - Times of Israel
Russia’s envoy to Israel warned Thursday that Moscow will respond if Jerusalem supplies Kyiv with defensive gear amid his country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking with Russian state television, Ambassador Anatoly Viktorov noted Defense Ministry Benny Gantz’s announcement a day earlier that Israel will provide Ukraine with helmets and flak jackets.
Gantz’s office stressed the equipment will go to Ukrainian civilian rescue and medical forces, not the military. (Read more)

4. IDF fires dozens of shells at targets in Lebanon after rocket attack on Israel - Times of Israel
The Israel Defense Forces said early Monday that it attacked targets in Lebanon after a rocket was fired into Israel earlier in the night.
“IDF artillery is now attacking targets in Lebanon and firing at the launch area in retaliation for the rocket fired into Israeli territory,” the IDF said in an initial statement. Later it said it struck the launch area with dozens of artillery shells, as well as “an infrastructure target,” without elaborating further.
The rocket that was fired into Israel from Lebanon landed in an open area near Kibbutz Matzuva, close to the border, without causing damage or injuries. (Read more)

5. Israeli Troops Seize $1.2 Million Drug Shipment on Egyptian Border - Algemeiner
JNS.org – Israeli security forces on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Israel from Egypt, seizing 200 kilograms of drugs worth an estimated 4 million shekels ($1.2 million), the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
IDF spotters had observed “a number of suspects” attempting to move the narcotics across the border into Israeli territory, and alerted a force to the area, the statement said. The drugs were transferred to the Israel Police, the IDF said.
The operation was the latest example of “ongoing efforts by the IDF and Israeli security forces to thwart drug smuggling attempts along the Egyptian border,” the military said. (Read more)

1.Mask Mandates Make Comeback to US College Campuses (theepochtimes.com)
Two months after the federal government eased mask recommendations for most Americans, some colleges and universities have reinstated mask mandates, along with other measures, citing surges in COVID-19 cases on their campuses.
Several prominent institutions—including American University and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.; Columbia University in New York; Johns Hopkins University in Maryland; and Rice University in Texas, to name a few—have brought back indoor mask requirements that were phased out not too long ago.
Many of these schools already have vaccine and booster mandates. For example, Columbia required all students and employees to submit proof of their booster vaccination before March, boasting an overall 99.9 percent compliance rate for the campus community. Yet it now demands that students wear surgical masks in classrooms because of an uptick of COVID-19 cases on campus and elsewhere in New York City.
- Lord, we pray that You will bring a move of repentance across all college campuses. We pray for every student to see truth, and be changed by Your Spirit. Let all agendas fall, let a revival of real instruction come to these facilities.

2. More Secret Gender Transition Closets Discovered in Public Schools (theepochtimes.com)
They started in colleges, but trans closets—rooms stocked with transgender clothes and accessories for students to change into after arriving to school and back out of before going home—are being discovered in public schools with some indication they are being kept a secret from parents.
In a recent TikTok video, a California teacher implies that the trans closet he started at the high school where he works is meant to be kept from parents.
“The goal of the transition closet is for our students to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are,” the teacher said.
The California Family Council and others eventually confirmed the identity of the teacher as Oakland Unified School District Spanish teacher Thomas Martin-Edwards, who is also the founder of “Queer Teacher Fellowship.”
Martin-Edwards, the teacher who runs the trans closet, is also transgender. He has posted videos of himself in the classroom showing off the stilettos he wears to school.
Neither Martin-Edwards, a former assistant principal in another school district, nor the school responded to inquiries by The Epoch Times about the trans closet.
“This is [an] example of the deceit schools are deliberately using to carry out a growing transgender movement in public schools behind the backs of parents,” the Christian conservative group California Family Council wrote on its website.

3. Jill Biden's anger at Harris detailed in new book: 'Do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe?' | Fox News
First lady Jill Biden expressed frustration that Kamala Harris was the top choice for vice president, according to an upcoming book from two New York Times reporters.
An excerpt provided to Fox News from Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns' forthcoming book, "This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America's Future," describes the vice presidential nomination process during Joe Biden's 2020 campaign.
"'There are millions of people in the United States,' she began. ‘Why,’ she asked, ‘do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe,'" the authors wrote of a conversation Jill Biden had after she learned Harris became a leading candidate to serve as Biden's running mate.
Several from Biden's inner circle, however, supported Harris on the ticket. Ron Klain, now the White House chief of staff, had been tasked with vetting vice presidential candidates and, according to the book, told Biden early on that Harris was most qualified for the job as she had sought the presidency herself.

4. Florida surgeon general rejects medical treatments for minors with gender dysphoria (nypost.com)
Florida health officials on Wednesday rejected federal guidelines that recommend medical treatments for minors who question their gender.
Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladopo said minors experiencing gender dysphoria should instead receive counseling to address their concerns.
Asserting that 80 percent of kids eventually lose their desire to change sexes, Ladopo lobbied against the federal approach.
“It was about injecting political ideology into the health of our children,” Ladopo said. “Children experiencing gender dysphoria should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”
Federal guidance contends that measures like hormone therapy can alleviate the stresses associated with gender dysphoria in children.

5. Two Americas: Chasm Grows Between Red And Blue States On Hot-Button Social Issues | The Daily Caller
Red and blue states are rapidly moving further apart on hot-button social issues as lawmakers and activists shift their focus to topics like abortion and transgenderism.
Republican-led states are passing waves of laws limiting elective abortions and sex change treatments for children, while blue states attempt to become havens for transgender children and abortion-seekers. Legislative efforts to impose 15-week abortion limits, restrict sexuality and gender ideology in classrooms and limit transgender participation in women’s sports have cropped up in GOP-led states across the country; each of these measures has recently passed in Florida alone.
“The policies that we champion are really common-sense positions that have broad support from among the average Floridian,” a spokesman for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s office told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Children shouldn’t be indoctrinated or sexualized in the classroom. Parents have rights when it comes to their child’s education. Life is life and worth protecting, whether in the womb or outside of it. On these matters, we take a stand.”
- Lord, we pray that this movement to protect children and give parents rights will grow even stronger. We rebuke the demons of perversion and lies who seek to damage our children. We cover our offspring with Your cloak of righteousness, and draw a line that says they shall not win the souls of our children.

6. Biden met with Hunter Biden business partner at White House in 2010: Report | Fox News
Hunter Biden's most prominent investment partner had an official sit-down with Vice President Joe Biden in 2010.
Eric Schwerin, president of the Rosemont Seneca firm, met with Biden while Biden was serving as vice president under former President Barack Obama, the New York Post reports. Schwerin is linked to a variety of Hunter Biden's foreign business dealings, past and present. Hunter's finances have come under intense scrutiny as evidence mounts showing his father was used as leverage in negotiations.
The meeting with Joe Biden was one of 19 visits Schwerin paid to the White House, where he also met with a variety of aides to the vice president, according to archived visitor logs from the Obama White House.
- Lord, we thank You for revealing the lies of the current occupant of the White House. We pray that these investigations will not return void, but will actually accomplish the truth and bring justice.

7.Maricopa County Judge Tosses Lawsuit Blocking Biggs, Gosar from Ballot (breitbart.com)
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury tossed a lawsuit on Friday that sought to prevent Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and state Rep. Mark Finchem (R) from running in 2022 for reelection.
The action taken on behalf of Arizona voters alleged Republicans were ineligible for the November ballot because they participated in the January 6 incident, which the media dubbed an insurrection.
Lawsuits seeking to disqualify the Republicans were based on section three of the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution enacted after the Civil War.

8.Tennessee Passes Bill Making Drunk Drivers Pay Child Support If They Kill A Parent Of A Minor | The Daily Wire
The Tennessee Senate passed a bill on Wednesday that would require intoxicated drivers convicted of vehicular homicide to pay child support if the victim of the offense was the parent of a minor child.
According to CBS 46, the legislation passed unanimously. It had been amended to include the names of the children of Nicholas Galinger, a Chattanooga police officer who was killed by a drunk driver while on duty in February 2019. HB 1834, also known as “Ethan’s, Hailey’s, and Bentley’s Law,” had already passed in the state’s House but has not been signed into law.
- Lord, we thank You for honoring this fallen officer and his children with this law. We ask that all ramifications of this law be checked before final passage. Let wisdom prevail in all they are trying to accomplish.

9.REPORT: GOP Warns Raffensperger Of Stacey Abrams’ Voter-Education Initiative For GA Students | The Daily Caller
Republicans in the U.S. House sent Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger a letter flagging a report that a voter-education initiative spearheaded by Stacey Abrams is teaching students the state’s laws restrict voting, The Washington Times reported Thursday.
The letter, written by Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois and Virginia Foxx of North Carolina, asked Raffensperger how he plans to combat the initiative, which is taught in Atlanta’s public schools, The Washington Times reported. It was also sent to members of the Georgia State Elections Board and the chair and vice-chair of the Fulton County Elections Board, the Washington Times reported.
Atlanta high school students were asked to attend a democracy class put on by the New Georgia Project, which Abrams founded in 2013, after the city’s public schools partnered with the group, as well as Rock the Vote, in August 2021 to implement a “Democracy Class Atlanta” lesson plan focused on “voting rights,” according to documents obtained in an open records request, Fox News reported.

10. CBS Earth Day poll: 'Climate change' dead last among nation's priorities (wnd.com)
As Earth Day turned 53 on Friday and Joe Biden flew across the nation in his personal 747 to deliver remarks on the occasion, Americans ranked "climate change" as last among a selection of the nation's top priorities.
A CBS News/YouGov poll found the economy was the most pressing issue, followed by inflation, crime, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, immigration and climate change.
Fully 76% of the respondents said the economy should be a high priority and 73% said inflation. But only 39% ranked climate change among the top priorities.
When asked if "climate change" is a pressing issue that should be solved "right now," 49% said yes. But one year ago, the figure was 54%, representing a decline of 6% under President Biden, who has made climate change a top priority.

11 10 Deaths in 10 Months: String of Suicides on a Single Aircraft Carrier | Military.com
On the morning of April 11, Capt. Brent Gaut, the commander of the USS George Washington -- an aircraft carrier undergoing major shipyard work at Newport News, Virginia -- got on the ship's intercom.
Two sailors had died on April 9 and 10, and Gaut was alerting the crew that those deaths were the eighth and ninth suicides the ship had experienced in nine months, three sailors who heard the announcement told Military.com on the condition of anonymity to avoid retaliation.
One explained that Gaut, talking to the crew first thing in the morning, went on to tell sailors to reach out and talk to someone if they needed help and that resources were available to them. That sailor described it as what "they say after they have a suicide every time."
- Lord, we ask that whatever is causing these suicides be stopped. Touch the hearts of our service members. Let them feel Your Presence. As the military grows away from You into a totally secular venue, we ask for a move of Your Spirit among them.

12. Russian general reveals plan to invade Moldova next | American Military News
Nearly two months after Russia invaded Ukraine, a Russian general described Russia’s next phase of military operations as what may be an invasion of Moldova.
In comments reported by the Russian state-run TASS news agency on Friday, Russian Maj. Gen. Rustam Minnekaev, Deputy Commander of the Central Military District, said the “second phase” of Russian military operations in Ukraine will focus on establishing a “land corridor” between Russia, the Russian-occupied territory of Crimea, and Transnistria, which is a pro-Russian breakaway region of neighboring Moldova.
“Since the beginning of the second phase of the special operation, it has already begun, literally two days ago, one of the tasks of the Russian army is to establish full control over the Donbas and southern Ukraine,” Minnekaev said.
While the Russian military has mainly said the second phase of its Ukraine invasion will focus on capturing the eastern Donbas region, Minnekaev said the operation could cut across the south of Ukraine and link up with Transnistria.”

Regulating Free Speech Obama Style

Former president Barack Obama Thursday called for regulation of free speech because Americans have lost their “capacity to distinguish between fact, opinion, and wholesale fiction.” Prefacing his remarks as “pretty close to a First Amendment absolutist,” Obama said “people are dying because of misinformation.” Obama’s point is that there is so much misinformation and disinformation circulating through social media that nobody knows the truth, and his big idea on fixing the problem is for the government to regulate free speech in conjunction with a committee of people from various aspects of American life—the technology industry, political advocacy groups, and government bureaucrats.
Trouble is, what Obama wants to regulate is dissent to his politics. There were two examples that he repeated throughout his speech: Election fraud and vaccination information. He said, “A lot of times this makes it impossible to tell the difference between, say, a peer-reviewed article by Dr. Anthony Fauci and a miracle cure being pitched by a huckster… The fact that scientists developed safe, effective vaccines in record time is an unbelievable achievement. And yet despite the fact that we’ve now, essentially clinically tested the vaccine on billions of people worldwide, around 1 in 5 Americans is still willing to put themselves at risk and put their families at risk rather than get vaccinated. Just a few hours ago, Twitter's board of directors and Elon Musk reached a deal that allows Musk to take the company private.
As I have repeatedly noted, this is not just a "business story." This has tremendous significance beyond one social media company. The First Amendment is under extraordinary attack in America today by the radical left and its media allies.
While Elon Musk certainly is not a conservative champion by any stretch of the imagination, his commitment to free speech is laudable. If Musk can break the left's stranglehold over Big Tech, and if he follows through on his pledge to stop Twitter's censorship, it could have tremendous implications.

Vanishing act: Exploring the case of the disappearing moon
|
|
|
Nearly 1,000 years ago, the moon vanished from the night sky without trace, and wasn’t seen for months on end. A team of researchers believes it knows why.
The relationship between the Earth, moon and sun has been documented since the beginning of time. The welcoming golden light of the sun greets humanity and serves as the dawn of a new day, while the eerie white glow of the moon sends the human race into its nightly slumber.
But what if there was a day when one occurred without the other? What if that day became weeks or even months?
Such an occurrence took place nearly a millennium ago, as Earth's moon disappeared from view during the month of May in the year 1110, with nary a reason given for the strange phenomenon. The unusual occurrence puzzled those who lived through it and continued to baffle astronomers throughout the ages. There was a belief that the moon's disappearance was the result of an eclipse.
The British astronomer George Frederick Chambers wrote about the celestial mystery in his 1899 book The Story of Eclipses. About 800 years after it happened, Chambers pegged the date of the eclipse as having occurred on May 5, during the reign of Henry I. Read More

'Praise be to Jesus': 455 Unborn Lives Saved From Abortion During '40 Days for Life' Spring Campaign
|
|
Hundreds of unborn babies were saved from abortion during the 40 Days For Life spring campaign. The movement involves volunteers praying, fasting, and holding peaceful vigils outside abortion clinics. The pro-life organization, which conducts a 40-day campaign that strives to end abortion, announced on its website that they know of "455 babies saved from abortion" from March 2 to April 10.
A baby was saved in Niagara Falls, New York after pro-life volunteers helped a pregnant 17-year-old woman. Her boyfriend and family "vowed to disown" her if she didn't follow through with an abortion. "She saw the prayer warriors on-site with their signs and decided she couldn't do it," said Pastor Bill, a local campaign leader. "My friend is going to give her a place to live for the time being. Her baby is safe, and she will be living with a strong Christian family. Glory to God on high!"
In Thousand Oaks, California, a pregnant woman had chosen to terminate her pregnancy by taking an abortion pill. After speaking with 40 Days for Life volunteers, she had a change of heart and immediately began the process of reversing the abortion. "Bloodwork and other examinations are continuing to show a healthy baby" reported a volunteer. "Praise be to Jesus, forever and ever, amen!"
A volunteer name Debbie in Knoxville, Tennessee, spoke with a young woman who was waiting for her appointment at Planned Parenthood. Debbie encouraged the frightened mother to consider an alternative to abortion.
