Storytellers are "game changers" for evangelism, discipleship in the Middle East

Middle East/Near East (MNN) — God sends hope into the unrest of the Middle East and Near East today through a simple tool called “Storytellers” for kids. These devices from Keys for Kids are handheld players loaded with audio Bibles and more. They’ve been translated in Urdu, Pashto and soon to be Farsi to reach entire communities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and beyond! Greg Yoder says they’ve heard incredible stories from distributions just this year. “Where we’re actually seeing not just kids coming to faith in Christ, not only memorizing Scripture, not only memorizing the stories, but adults being able to see the simplicity of what it means to follow Jesus Christ and want that in their own lives.”
In recent years, one player somehow reached the son of a Muslim imam in Pakistan. He was notorious as a bad, troublemaking boy, but two days after he started listening, his dad said, “What is going on with you? You’re now a nice kid. What is going on?” His son said, “I know Jesus.” “What do you mean you ‘know Jesus’?” After his son started playing the storyteller for him, the imam then ordered 200 more players for other village kids. Senate Confirms Huckabee as Israel Envoy
|

The U.S. Senate voted 53-46 on Wednesday to confirm Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, to be U.S. ambassador to Israel.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was the lone Democrat to back Huckabee, who has mounted two presidential campaigns since leaving office, and has been a TV and radio host since 2008. Every Republican voted to confirm Huckabee except Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), who did not vote.
Ahead of the vote, Republicans said that Huckabee would be a more pro-Israel diplomat than his predecessors in the Biden administration.
“For years, the previous administration wrung its hands and withheld American support for Israel in the wake of the horrendous, awful Oct. 7 terror attack by Hamas,” Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, said Wednesday on the Senate floor.
“To execute on President Trump’s iron-clad support of Israel, we urgently need a qualified ambassador in the region,” he added. “I have no doubt Gov. Huckabee is that person.”

Trump’s Economic War Against China Just Went Nuclear

Well, isn’t this fun? News that President Trump had decided to pause some of the tariffs that he recently unveiled for 90 days sent stock prices soaring. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up more than 2,900 points on Wednesday, and that is very good news. But not that much has actually changed, and the global trade war is still officially on. In fact, President Trump just hiked the tariff rate on Chinese imports to 125 percent…
President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he was authorizing a 90-day pause in reciprocal tariffs to all countries except China, on which he was raising the levy to 125% in the latest twist of a saga that has roiled financial markets for a week. The universal 10% tariffs remain in place.
So let’s summarize what just happened.
-The universal baseline 10 percent tariffs are still in effect.
-The additional reciprocal tariffs that were recently announced have only been delayed for 3 months to allow for negotiations to take place.
-The tariff rate on products that we import from China has now been raised to a whopping 125 percent.
-Other previously announced tariffs remain in place.
As you can see, the reality of what we are facing hasn’t really changed much at all. But headlines that boldly proclaimed that “the tariffs have been paused” sent stock prices screaming higher.The extraordinary rally that we just witnessed really didn’t make much sense at all, but we’ll take it.

8 Signs That the Bombing of Iran Could be Coming Very Soon

If bombs start falling on Iran's nuclear facilities, it would instantly be the biggest news story of 2025 so far. Iranian air defenses would need to be neutralized first, and that would be quite an extensive operation all by itself. Subsequently, destroying Iran's nuclear facilities would be extraordinarily difficult, because many of them are very deep underground.
We have heard a lot about our "bunker buster" bombs, but there is a lot of debate about whether those bombs can actually destroy facilities that are buried that deep. We ask You to guide and direct every step that President Trump takes in dealing with Iran and its proxies. Abba, Your remnant is trusting You in how all of this ultimately works out, we believe that You set kings up and You bring them down, that Your hand is at work. Holy Spirit, we ask You to move within the top leadership of Iran, put the fear of You into their hearts, give them visions of what the wrong decisions would do to not only the US or Israel but to Iran as well. Jesus, speak to each heart involved in this stand-off, give them an awareness of Your presence, that You are a God to be respected and feared, that this world belongs to You not to them. 8 Signs China Has an Insidious 6-Point Plan to Defeat Donald Trump and Win the Economic War

The Chinese have no intention of giving in to President Trump and are vowing to “fight to the end”. So that means that an economic war between the number one economy on the entire planet and the number two economy on the entire planet is officially on. Yesterday, I warned my readers that imports from China were about to be hit with a 104 percent tariff, but because this number had not been reported by the mainstream media yet a lot of people didn’t believe me. Of course this morning major news outlets all over the globe were using that number.
Many were expecting the Chinese to back down, but that isn’t happening.
In fact, China’s Commerce Ministry has released a statement that ominously declares that they are ready to “fight to the end”…
China’s Commerce Ministry said it “resolutely opposes” U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of escalating tariffs, and vowed to take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.
The comments came after Trump said he would impose an additional 50% duty on U.S. imports from China on Wednesday, if Beijing does not withdraw the 34% tariff it imposed on American products last week.
“The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake,” the statement said, according to a CNBC translation. “China will never accept it. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.” (The Economic Collapse Blog)

1. Iran confirms negotiations with US, but denies Trump’s claim of ‘direct talks’ - World Israel News
The U.S. and Iran are set to begin nuclear talks over the weekend, Iranian state media confirmed on Tuesday, though Iran denied claims by President Donald Trump that the two sides are slated to engage in “direct talks.”
On Monday, Trump told reporters during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that despite saber-rattling by both sides last week, his administration had secured Iran’s agreement to engage in “direct talks” with the White House on a new nuclear deal beginning this coming Saturday.
“We’re having direct talks with Iran, and they’ve started. It’ll go on Saturday,” Trump said.

2. Israeli, French Jewish Leaders Slam Macron for Saying France Could Recognize Palestinian State in June - Algemeiner
Israeli and French Jewish leaders sharply criticized French President Emmanuel Macronfor saying that France is making plans to recognize a Palestinian state and could do so as early as June.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar condemned France’s announcement, stating that such a move would only reward terrorism.
“A ‘unilateral recognition’ of a fictional Palestinian state, by any country, in the reality that we all know, will be a prize for terror and a boost for Hamas,” Saar wrote in a post on X, referring to the Palestinian terrorist group that has ruled Gaza for nearly two decades.
“These kinds of actions will not bring peace, security, and stability in our region closer — but the opposite: they only push them further away,” Israel’s top diplomat added.

4. More than 45 illegal infiltrators enter Israel from east of Lachish - Israel National News
More than 45 illegal infiltrators, including women and children, entered Israel on Wednesday evening through a breach in the seam line fence east of Lachish.
This is the most significant infiltration incident in the area since the October 7 attack.

5. Israel confirms talks with Turkey on Syria aimed at preserving ‘security stability’ - Times of Israel
Israeli and Turkish delegations met in Azerbaijan Wednesday for Syria deconfliction talks, the Prime Minister’s Office said Thursday. The talks were aimed at preventing unwanted incidents as both countries’ militaries operate in the country.
“Under the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a political-security delegation led by National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, and with the participation of senior representatives of the Defense Ministry and the security branches, met last night with a parallel Turkish delegation,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.
The PMO thanked Azerbaijan and its President Ilham Aliyev for “hosting the important talks,” and added that during the meeting, “each side presented its interests in the region, and agreed to continue the path of dialogue in order to maintain security stability.”

2. Inflation Slows Sharply to 2.4 Percent, Lowest in Half a Year – The Epoch Times
Declining energy costs fueled the better-than-expected inflation report. Falling energy prices helped U.S. inflation cool in March, slowing to its lowest level in six months. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the annual inflation rate declined to 2.4 percent from 2.8 percent in February, the lowest reading since September.
Economists had penciled in a reading of 2.6 percent.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) fell by a better-than-expected 0.1 percent.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, also eased to 2.8 percent. This is the first time that annual core inflation has been below 3 percent since early 2021. The core CPI increased by 0.1 percent month over month, below the consensus forecast of 0.3 percent. (Read more)

3. Trump Announces 90-Day Pause on Reciprocal Tariffs, Raises Levy on China – The Epoch Times
China will now face a 125 percent tariff, the president announced.
President Donald Trump announced on April 9 that he is pausing for 90 days reciprocal tariffs that went into effect earlier in the day, while at the same time raising rates for China.
In a statement posted on social media, Trump said he is suspending reciprocal tariffs that he first announced on April 2—which he dubbed “Liberation Day”—while maintaining a 10 percent baseline tariff across the board.
The president said that more than 75 countries have responded to his tariffs with diplomatic overtures rather than countermeasures, noting that these nations “have not ... retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States.”
The Chinese regime, Trump said, showed a “lack of respect” to the world and the United States in how it treats trade. The president announced that he is raising cumulative tariffs on Chinese products to 125 percent from 104 percent. The action followed China’s latest tariff hike, which raised duties on U.S. goods to 84 percent.
“At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the days of ripping off the U.S.A., and other Countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable,” Trump wrote.

4. Global Markets Rally After Trump Pauses Tarriffs – The Epoch Times
Indices from Tokyo to Frankfurt all experienced rapid rises following the president’s announcement.
Stocks surged on Thursday after President Donald Trump announced an immediate 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs for many trading partners, prompting a relief rally following a days-long market rout.
“I have authorized a 90 day PAUSE,” Trump said in a social media post. He said more than 75 countries want to negotiate on trade and are not retaliating against his latest tariff increases.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told reporters that the pause was a reward for countries that refrained from retaliating against the United States and that Trump used the duties to create “maximum negotiating leverage.”

5. Iran says talks with US will be indirect, contrary to Trump’s words – The Guardian
US president had trailed ‘direct talks’ and said Iran would be in ‘great danger’ if they failedIran, wrongfooted by Donald Trump’s revelation that “direct talks” between the US and Iran on its nuclear programme are set to start in Oman on Saturday, insisted the talks would actually be in an indirect format, but added that the intentions of the negotiators were more important than the format.
Trump on Monday threw Tehran off guard by revealing the plan for the weekend talks and saying that if the talks failed Iran would be in “great danger”. There has been an unprecedented US military buildup across the Middle East in recent weeks, and Trump’s decision to make the talks public looks designed to press Iran to negotiate with urgency.
The US delegation to the talks will be led by Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, who has also been involved in talks with Russia over the Ukraine war; and the Iranian side by its foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi. Witkoff’s efforts to broker peace between Israel and Hamas and between Russia and Ukraine have so far failed.

6. Israel could ‘lead’ strikes against Iran if nuclear talks fail, says US President Trump – All Israel News
Israel estimates Trump will insist on the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure
U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his threat to use military force if the nuclear talks with Iran, which are set to begin this Saturday, fail. In that case, Israel would take a leading role, he added. “If it requires military, we’re going to have military. Israel will obviously be very much involved in that – it’ll be the leader of that,” he said.
The comment made to reporters in the Oval Office is the first time he threatened Iran with Israeli strikes. However, he quickly added: “Nobody leads us. We do what we want to do.”
The summit planned on Saturday in the Sultanate of Oman will be the start of a process, Trump said while cautioning, “We have a little time, but we don’t have much time because we’re not going to let them have a nuclear weapon.” (Read more)

The 28 Judges Trying to Kill Trump’s Agenda

Several media outlets report there are about 28 judges who are trying to kill the Trump agenda, ranging from DEI to illegal immigrants/criminals to transgenderism to Department of Government Efficiency efforts, to birthright citizenship. A Daily Jot analysis of those judges finds that former president Joe Biden appointed 13, Barack Obama 9, Bill Clinton 2, George W Bush 2 and Ronald Reagan 2. The Bush and Reagan appointees seemed more interested in the Constitutionality of birthright citizenship. The rest of the appointees were halting actions that were aimed against the extremist liberal agenda of Biden and Obama. These unelected oligarchs are trying to rebel against the elected will of the people.
Newsweek reported on March 19 that Trump had issued 89 executive orders since January to implement his agenda. Newsweek listed the names of the judges who halted his agenda and where they presided, but not who appointed them. The real story is who appointed them and where they preside. It tells us their political loyalties and exactly where Democrats resisting the Trump agenda file their court cases. Of those 28 judges, 11 cases were filed in the US District Court in Washington, DC; 6 in the US District Court in Maryland; and 10 in California, Washington, New York, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. This clearly demonstrates where Democratic Party operatives know they will get a positive response from the judicial system. And they shop their cases to the most sympathetic judge. Read More

As Trump Prepares for Iran Talks, Experts Say Chances of U.S. Strike on Regime Very Real

On Monday, President Trump announced that his administration would engage in direct negotiations with Iran in an attempt to scale back the Islamist regime’s nuclear capabilities, while simultaneously sending at least two aircraft carriers and other military assets to the Middle East region. Experts say that Iran’s pattern of aggression and bad faith behavior makes it unlikely that the U.S. would be able to peaceably negotiate a dismantling of the regime’s nuclear program.
As noted by The New York Times, if the talks happen on Saturday in Oman as planned, it would mark “the first official face-to-face negotiations between the two countries” since 2018, when the first Trump administration withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which the Islamist regime repeatedly violated by continuing to enrich uranium.
At the same time, reports surfaced Monday that the U.S. has sent a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, and has also deployed an “unprecedented” six B-2 stealth bombers to the Diego Garcia military base in the Indian Ocean. As the Times observed, the show of force comes at a “perilous moment” for Iran due to the loss of its “air defenses around its key nuclear sites because of precise Israeli strikes last October. And Iran can no longer rely on its proxy forces in the Middle East — Hamas, Hezbollah and the now-ousted Assad government in Syria — to threaten Israel with retaliation.”
Military experts like Lt. General (Ret.) Jerry Boykin say that the administration’s asset buildup in the Middle East signals a very real chance of direct action against the Islamist regime.
“[I]t tells us that President Trump is serious about this,” he contended during “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” Tuesday. “This is not just a show of force. I think he’s serious about it. Now, I don’t think he wants it to turn into a shooting war, but I think that he’s ready to do that.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

We can see that Pres. Trump means business, and we pray that Iran gets the message, conceding to the requirements of the Trump Administration. In the past, Iran deliberately and repeatedly violated JCPOA and continued to enrich uranium. May they be held accountable in this new day!
Lord, Iranian Muslim leadership is very rigid, and experts say they are doubtful that Iran will comply. HOWEVER, Your people invite You into these talks and ask for Your holy intervention of wisdom, power and creativity to reign. Lord, we want Your timing in all things and ask only that Your will be done. Should Iran not cooperate, we ask that You spell out the consequences, through Pres. Trump and his team, to the Iranian leaders. Ultimately, we pray that Israel and the United States would remain safe and not be the targets of nuclear missiles, suit-case bombs or other military assaults from Iran. We speak Your Shalom over the negotiations, as Trump and team seek Your face.
We continue to pray for the beautiful Iranian people, especially Your underground church in that nation. May they know Your heart, share Your Good News, and intercede as the Holy Spirit leads. Please protect and direct for Your glory and Your name so that Your eternal plans be accomplished.

US Signs Deal With Panama to Secure Canal, Deter China’s ‘Malign Influence’

China has been accused of taking control of critical infrastructure in the canal area.

The United States is partnering with Panama as part of efforts to secure the Panama Canal and counter the Chinese Communist Party’s “malign influence” in the region, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on April 9.
“The Panama Canal is key terrain that must be secured by Panama, with America and not China,” Hegseth said at a joint press conference with Panamanian Public Security Minister Frank Abrego.
U.S. and Panamanian officials signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral security matters in the region that will help expand joint training exercises between the two countries and improve overall interoperability between their military forces, Hegseth said.
The agreement will also reestablish a rotational joint presence at a handful of previously operational U.S. military installations, including Rodman Naval Station and Howard Air Force Base, as well as Fort Sherman.
Hegseth noted that jungle operations would be revived at an operations center so that U.S. and Panamanian troops could train side by side.
Officials also plan to sign a separate declaration related to the security and operation of the Panama Canal that would provide a framework for U.S. warships and auxiliary ships to travel “first and free” through the canal, the defense secretary said. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Last week, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy addressed the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, which is part of the Department of Transportation. He got a rousing reception from the midshipmen when he promised to “work my a-- off” to make sure the academy gets adequate funding after years of neglect from the Biden administration.
But that applause was nothing compared to what happened next.
As he was finishing his remarks and getting ready to walk off the stage, he paused briefly, looked over the academy’s leadership, and said off the cuff, “Can we bring Jesus up from the basement? Let’s not put Jesus in the basement! Let’s get Him out! Let’s bring Him up!”
The crowd of young men and women erupted in cheers! One reporter noted that Duffy was “somewhat taken aback by the enthusiastic response,” which went on for quite a while. You can watch it here.
You may be asking yourself, “What is he talking about? Why is Jesus in the basement?” The answer is because of Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, the misnamed Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). A large 10-foot by 19-foot painting called “Christ on the Water” or “Jesus and Lifeboat” dominated the Elliot M. See Room in the academy’s administrative building for nearly 80 years. But Buttigieg covered it up in 2023 after a complaint from MRFF. The painting was eventually removed for “cleaning,” a convenient excuse for taking it down. Months later it was moved to the “lower rear hallway” of the chapel, which, ironically, floods frequently.
Two thoughts come to mind.
Leftists everywhere must be terrified by the raucous display of “Christian nationalism” from the midshipmen. They love America and they love Jesus.
And the idea of bringing Christ up out of the basement is like an early Easter! He lives!

Tornado outbreaks dramatically accelerate 2025 season; one state stands out
|

After three major tornado outbreaks, the 2025 season is far ahead of historical average, but there's one state that stands out.
Tornado activity across the United States is running well above normal in 2025, with more than 470 tornadoes reported through early April — nearly double the historical average for this point in the year.
NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has received 473 preliminary tornado reports, as of April 7. That’s 1.8 times higher than both the 16-year average of 266 and last year’s total of 264 for the same date.
The only years in the 16-year record that had more tornadoes than this year are 2023 with 530 and 2017 with 536.
As AccuWeather predicted, the Southeast and Mississippi Valley have seen the bulk of the tornadic activity. Through the end of March, Mississippi was leading the nation for tornado reports, with 92 twisters reported. Through March 31 last year, Mississippi had had only seven tornadoes, and Florida led with 30.
A series of tornado outbreaks this year has driven an unusually high number of storms across the Midwest, with Missouri and Illinois among the hardest-hit states.
Missouri has recorded 57 tornado reports so far in 2025, while Illinois has tallied 55.
March 14-16 tornado outbreak
Three significant outbreaks in the past month alone have fueled the spike in activity.
The first was from March 14 to 16, 2025, when 191 areas of tornado damage were reported and 115 twisters were confirmed in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. This outbreak included three monster EF4 twisters and 12 EF3s.
