New SCOTUS Nominee:
The pick is in – and what it means for you
Ketanji Brown Jackson is sworn in to testify before a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, April 28, 2021 in Washington, D.C.
Dear Sara,

Despite our nation’s focus on Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, today will be a significant day for U.S. policy and jurisprudence as well. This afternoon, President Biden announced Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as his U.S. Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice Stephen Breyer.

If confirmed, Judge Jackson’s decisions will significantly impact life, families, and religious freedom in our country. The U.S. Supreme Court has recently ruled on key cases in each of these areas, and this trend will continue. As an associate justice, Judge Jackson would likely sit on the bench for an important religious freedom case the Court has already agreed to hear in the next term – and a lifetime of a cases on other key constitutional issues that impact everyday life for American families.

Judge Jackson has a background as a policy attorney who was confirmed to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for D.C. just last year. She has written very few opinions for that court, but unfortunately her record is one of opposing protections for unborn life and religious freedom.

Family Policy Alliance will be closely watching the confirmation process and seeking to understand how Judge Jackson would handle these critical issues. We will keep you updated on the confirmation process as we assess how a potential Justice Jackson will impact families across America.

Sincerely,

Joseph Kohm III
Director, Public Policy
Family Policy Alliance
- Father God, we continue to approach Your "Supreme Court" on behalf of the appointment of the next justice who will fill the seat of Justice Stephen Breyer when he retires.

Lord God, this decision is critical for the good of our nation, so it must be weighed carefully by our Senate Judiciary Committee. We ask that You grant the members of this committee Your wisdom as they make this key decision for our people. In Jesus' name we offer this prayer,  amen and amen.

- ". . . pray for kings and all who are in authority . . ." (I Timothy 2:1,2)
Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) Announces His Retirement
Inhofe endorsed his top aide, Luke Holland, for the November election to replace him.

Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, a leading conservative Republican and veteran of the Senate, announced on Friday that he will resign in January 2023, sparking a special election this November.

"It is bittersweet, but with a clear heart, that Kay and I announce that at the end of the year, I will retire from the United States Senate," said Inhofe in a statement, referring to his wife.

Inhofe, 87, is a defense hawk who serves as the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee. He is also a former chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, where he drew the ire of environmentalists over his denunciations of climate change as a "hoax."

Inhofe won reelection as recently as 2020, and had already planned to make his current term his last. His resignation will likely spark a furious GOP battle for a seat to represent one of the nation's most conservative states.

- Father God, today we honor Senator James Inhofe, who has served faithfully and well as one of Your soldiers in the United States Senate, standing for truth and for righteousness in every vote he has cast in that chamber.  We begin to pray, even now, for the people in the State of Oklahoma, that they would choose with great, discerning wisdom for the one who will next fill this seat in our Senate.. Thank You , Lord, in Your name, amen and amen.

- "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)
In Ukraine: NATO Response Force activated for first time

For the first time ever, the NATO Response Force has been activated as a defensive measure in response to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

NATO Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Tod Wolters activated the multinational force consisting of land, air, sea and special operations forces from the allies that can deploy quickly in support of the NATO alliance.

The activation of the response troops does not mean that any US or NATO troops will go into Ukraine, which is not a member. US President Joe Biden has been clear that US troops are deploying to eastern Europe to help bolster NATO countries nervous about Russia's aggressive actions, and they will not be fighting in Ukraine. (CNN) Read more.

- Lord God, as things continue to heat up in this part of the world, we ask only that Your perfect will be done on behalf of the citizens of Ukraine.

- "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven . . ."  (Matthew 6:10)
BREAKING! CDC Announces New Mask Policy:

Masks No Longer Required in Most Settings!
 U.S. health officials dialed back their threshold for Covid-19 masking recommendations, a signal that the federal government is shifting into a new phase of its pandemic response that prioritizes protecting hospitals and vulnerable people over broadly preventing infections.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday introduced a new three-tiered system for classifying local Covid-19 risks. In areas where the risks from the virus are low, officials said that most people can go without masks in indoor public places such as restaurants or shopping malls.

In medium-risk areas where the virus is having some impact on the health-care system, people who are at potential increased risk of severe Covid-19 should talk with their doctor about masking, according to the new guidelines. Less than a third of the population is in high-risk areas where masks should be required in indoor public spaces, compared with 82% under the earlier regime.

The recommendations also apply to schools -- the first update to school guidance since July. While the CDC earlier recommended masks for schools regardless of community risk level, the updated recommendation is for a requirement only in high-risk areas. (Bloomberg) Read more.

- Father God, whatever the real reason is for this  new policy, we praise You that this has now taken place! We know, dear God, that the practice of masking has caused great harm to our children of all ages, and that we are now reaping the results of this policy in their lives. We are deeply saddened by the number of suicides that our young people have committed, and we are alarmed by the violent behavior now exhibited by many more. Come, Lord Jesus, we pray, and bring Your own healing touch to the lives that have been wounded by this wicked policy, which has been in place for over two years. Thank You, O Lord! Nothing is too difficult for You! Amen.

- "“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming
locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you."
(Joel 2:25)
In Context: Implications of H.R. 3755
Last week, this section looked at the contrast between America's founding heritage and the subsequent vote on H.R. 3755 in this coming Monday's Senate schedule.

This week, with help from our sources, we take a closer look at the implications of what that abortion bill would mean for pro-life policy in America.

The Virginia Society for Human Life
notes, H.R. 3755 would establish abortion-on-demand in all 50 states, regardless of the status of Roe v. Wade.

Among the protective laws this legislation would nullify:
  • Nearly all federal limits on taxpayer funding of abortion;
  • Conscience protection laws allowing medical professionals to opt-out of providing abortions;
  • Requirements to provide women seeking abortion with specific information on their unborn child;
  • Laws providing reflection periods (waiting periods);
  • Laws requiring parental consent or notification for minors seeking an abortion;
  • Laws limiting the performance of abortions to licensed physicians;
  • Bans on elective abortion after 20 weeks when an unborn child is capable of feeling pain;
  • Requirements to provide women with information on alternatives to abortion;
  • Bans on the use of abortion as a method of sex selection, and abortions done based on a diagnosis of a disability, including Down Syndrome.

The bill codifies abortion on demand until birth for any reason. It would undo all existing state limits on abortion and prevent future federal, state and local limits. This would force every state to be a late-term abortion state.

The bill carves out the
Religious Freedom Restoration Act and makes clear that it cannot be used as a claim. Though other bills (like the Equality Act) have attempted to do the same thing, Congress has never exempted RFRA from any statute since RFRA became law in 1993.

H.R. 3755 Summary

  • Gestational age limits—The bill would make every state a late-term abortion state, and invalidate laws currently in effect that protect pain-capable unborn children, and that protect babies with heartbeats. The bill would categorically ban States from enacting any gestational limits on abortion before viability, or even after viability, up until birth, by gutting any such limits with sweeping “health” exceptions that include emotional or mental health, and which allow the abortionist to determine case-by-case whether the baby is “viable”.
  • Dismemberment abortion—Bans states from stopping gruesome dismemberment abortion procedures in which unborn children are pulled apart limb from limb
  • Parental involvement—Parents would not know, or have any say over, if their daughter has an abortion
  • Telemedicine abortion—Every state would be forced to allow telemedicine/mail-order abortions without an in-person visit and prescribed by a doctor outside the state (or country).
  • Ultrasound—Requirements that ensure women’s access to see their ultrasound, hear a heartbeat would be invalidated
  • Informed consent—Requirements for counseling and information about the baby and complications of abortion would be banned
  • Reflection periods—All state laws establishing time between the counseling or ultrasound and abortion would be struck down
  • Prenatal Nondiscrimination—States could not protect babies from discriminatory abortions on the basis of race, sex, or diagnosis of a disability like Down syndrome
  • Coercion—State laws to prevent coerced abortion, like in-person counseling, would be invalidated.
  • Conscience protections—Laws that protect the conscience rights of healthcare professionals to not participate in abortion would be at risk. The bill specifically carves out the protections of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Resources and In-depth Analysis:

Father, we ask that you would awaken the hearts of your people to these evil actions. May this not be dismissed as a vote expected to fail, but may we in faith earnestly seek you for this very real threat that so much of America wants and would take right now if it could. Legislation like this is already law in some states, some quite recently. Father awaken both those who are spiritually alive and those who are spiritually dead to Your handiwork and our need to respect those You have made.

“My son, keep your father's command, and do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; when you sleep, they will keep you; and when you awake, they will speak with you.” (Proverbs 6:20-22)

(Ephesians 5:27)

Praying together, we desire to fulfill the mandate of Psalm 139:

" Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:24

You can join us, any Sunday evening, at 10:00 p.m. EST by calling:
