Program for Tuesday: Senate to meet in pro forma session to conclude the second session of the 117th Congress.
 

12 noon, Tuesday, January 3, 2023

Program for Tuesday: Senate convenes, pursuant to the Constitution, the first session of the 118th Congress.

From the Senate majority:
Following the prayer and pledge, the certificates of election will be presented. Senators will then be sworn-in in groups of two. After the swearing-in, there will be a live quorum. After a quorum is established, the Senate will adopt a number of housekeeping resolutions.

Following leader remarks, the Senate will be in a period of morning business with senators permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.

On Tuesday, we expect to lock in an agreement that January 23rd be the first day for bill introductions.
House Floor Schedule
TUESDAY, JANUARY 3RD

On Tuesday, the 117th Congress will meet at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business and adjourn the 117th Congress sine die.

The House will convene for the start of the 118th Congress at 12 noon. Members are advised that there will be a recorded quorum call at 12 noon following the Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.

H. Res. ___ - Adopting the Rules of the 118th Congress, and for other purposes (Rules Committee)

H.R. ___ - Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act (Ways and Means Committee)


WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4TH AND THE BALANCE OF THE WEEK:

On Wednesday, the House will meet at 10:00 a.m. for morning hour and noon for legislative business. On Thursday, the House will meet at 9:00 a.m. for legislative business. 

H.R. __ - Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act (Energy and Commerce Committee)

H. Res. __ - Establishing the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (Rules Committee)

H.R. __ - Prosecutors Need to Prosecute Act (Judiciary Committee)

H. Con. Res. __ - Expressing support for the Nation’s law enforcement agencies and condemning any efforts to defund or dismantle law enforcement agencies (Judiciary Committee)
