Biden Administration Moves to Protect Obama-Era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program
|
|
President Joe Biden’s administration unveiled on Sept. 27 a new rule aimed to protect an Obama-era program that has shielded more than 600,000 illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children.
The proposed rule would “preserve and fortify” the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, in an attempt to respond to a court ruling that the program was illegally created.
Then-President Barack Obama ordered the deferred action policy through an executive order, but Congress never provided the executive branch with the authority to allow illegal immigrants to stay in the country, U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen, a George W. Bush appointee, ruled in July.
Hanen halted the acceptance of any new applications made under the program and remanded to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) the memorandum that actually established the program for further consideration. That memo, filed in 2012 by then-Attorney General Janet Napolitano didn’t follow proper notice and comment rulemaking, which violated federal law, according to the judge.
The new DHS proposal, set to be published on Sept. 28, is a response to the ruling. It includes many of the same provisions as Napolitano’s memo, including eligibility requirements such as living continuously in the United States since June 15, 2007.(Epoch Times) Read more.

1. Bennett: Iran spreads 'carnage and destruction' across Middle East - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke at the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, stating Iran's funding of terrorist regimes is a threat to the entire Middle East.
"Iran’s great goal is crystal clear to anybody who cares to open their eyes: Iran seeks to dominate the region — and seeks to do so under a nuclear umbrella," Bennett said.
"For the past three decades Iran has spread its carnage and destruction around the Middle East, country after country: Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Gaza."

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Monday, before the start of the holidays of Simchat Torah and Shmini Atzeret, gave a briefing to the media following his speech at the UN General Assembly.
At the start of the briefing, Bennett spoke about his acquaintance with New York City and his coming full circle at the synagogue where he first met his wife, Gilat, and will attend holiday services.
Bennett noted that he sought to bring and emphasize a new energetic optimistic spirit in his speech. "This is the Zionist ethos I believe in. Not scenarios of horror, but rather optimism," he said.
Bennett sent a sharp message regrading Iran's continued nuclear program and warned that Israel would act. "We mean what we say," Bennett stressed. "The pace of progress towards a nuclear weapon is unacceptable - we are taking action." (Read more)

3. 300 Shiite & Sunni Iraqi Leaders Condemned Widely for Call to Join Abrahamic Accords - Jewish Press
Some 300 Shiite and Sunni leaders met over the weekend in a conference in Arbil, the capital of the Kurdish region of Iraq, and called on their country to join the initiative of the Abrahamic Accords and establish full diplomatic relations with Israel.
One of the participants, Sahar al-Tai, who serves as the head of research at the Iraqi federal government’s culture ministry, read a closing statement that declared, “We demand our integration into the Abraham Accords. Just as these agreements provide for diplomatic relations between the signatories and Israel, we also want normal relations with Israel.”
“No force, local or foreign, has the right to prevent this call,” she added.
The conference was organized by The Center for Peace Communications, which, according to its Facebook page, “works through media, schools, and centers of spiritual and moral leadership in the Middle East and North Africa to roll back divisive ideologies and foster a mindset of inclusion and engagement.” (Read more)

4. Large explosives cache belonging to Hamas cell said found in West Bank town - Times of Israel
Israeli security forces early Monday carried out further operations in the West Bank to disrupt alleged plans for major terror attacks, using new intel gained following the arrest of some 20 suspected members of a Hamas cell.
It was the second straight night Israeli troops operated in the town of Bidu, near Jerusalem. Three Hamas gunmen were killed in a shootout with soldiers the night before.
In the latest raids, forces found a significant cache of explosive devices intended to be used in a terror attack in the capital in the coming days, according to television reports Monday.
The “kilograms of explosives” were hidden in a well whose exact whereabouts were determined after the Shin Bet internal security service interrogated the cell’s mastermind and other members, the reports said. (Read more)

5. Arrest Warrants Issued for Three Iraqi Leaders Who Attended Conference Calling for Peace With Israel - Algemeiner
Three prominent Iraqi leaders are facing arrest warrants after they participated in a conference that called for peace with Israel, Agence France-Presse reported Sunday.
The conference, held Friday in Erbil, the capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq, featured more than 300 attendees.
Organized by the US-based think tank the Center for Peace Communications, the conference called for Iraq to make peace with Israel and normalize relations with it in the context of the Abraham Accords.
The Iraqi government and other leaders were apoplectic at news of the conference, with the government calling it “illegal.” Shia extremist cleric Moqtada Sadr demanded the participants be arrested, and pro-Iran MP Ahmad Assadi called them “traitors.” (Read more)

1..Senator Toomey: Democrats ‘Don’t Need A Single Republican Vote’ To Pass Their $3.5 Trillion Bill | The Daily Wire
Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union” on Sunday that Republicans will not be voting for Democrats’ $3.5 trillion social spending bill, and that Democrats do not need Republicans to be able to pass the bill.
“I will certainly be voting no if the Democrats insist on combining the debt ceiling increase or suspension with the continuing operations of the government,” Toomey said. “And there is no calamity that’s going to happen, Jake. If that were even a serious risk, don’t you think the equity markets from last week, rather than fully recovering after the scare that came out of Evergrande in China, rather than fully recovering, as they did, maybe they would have traded off? I think that’s because the millions of investors across America know that no such calamity is going to occur.”
“Why?” Tapper asked.
“What’s going to happen is, after Republicans vote no, Chuck Schumer is going to do what he could have done months ago, what he could have done weeks ago, what he could do tomorrow, and that is, he will amend the budget resolution so that Democrats can pass the debt ceiling all by themselves,” Toomey said. “And that’s what should happen. And here’s why, Jake. They are in the midst of an absolutely unprecedented, very damaging spending spree on a scale that we have never seen. And they want us to come along and authorize the borrowing to help pay for it, when we are totally opposed to what they’re doing.”
“They don’t need a single Republican vote. Republicans can’t stop it,” Toomey continued. “It’s not subject to a filibuster. And if they want to do this, they can go ahead and bring the attention of the American people to the increase in debt that we’re going to need to pay for this spending spree.

2. Feds Give Planned Parenthood Millions in Pandemic Relief After Ruling it Ineligible for Gov’t Aid (freebeacon.com)
The Biden administration used the COVID relief package to give tens of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood even after the federal government determined the billion-dollar abortion provider was ineligible for the program.
The Small Business Administration has given $23 million to 10 Planned Parenthood affiliates in 2021 through the Paycheck Protection Program. The agency sent those payments even though it ruled Planned Parenthood did not qualify for the funding, which was designed to aid small businesses dealing with government shutdowns and the coronavirus pandemic.
SBA, which did not respond to requests for comment, had previously ordered the nation's top abortion provider to return $80 million in taxpayer-backed PPP funds. The agency has not provided evidence that those funds were returned by any of the 37 Planned Parenthood affiliates that cashed the checks in 2020.
Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) said the agency is ignoring its own ruling—which held that affiliates of organizations with more than 500 employees are ineligible for PPP—to reward a political ally.
"I think Democrats know it is illegal to give small business loans to the big business, that is Planned Parenthood, but they are completely in the tank for taxpayer-funded abortions," Paul told the Washington Free Beacon.

3. Defense Bill with Red Flag Provision Passes in House with GOP Support (breitbart.com)
The 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) contained in H.R. 4350 passed the U.S. House with Republican support Thursday.
On September 23, 2021, Breitbart News reported that the 2022 NDAA contains a provision authorizing military courts to issue orders restraining military personnel from “possessing, receiving, or otherwise accessing a firearm.”
The provision for prohibiting gun possession is contained in Section 529 of the NDAA. That section is titled, “Authority Of Military Judges And Military Magistrates To Issue Military Court Protective Orders.”
The specific provision gives military courts the authority to prohibit gun possession via protective orders in two ways: 1. By giving the subject of the order an “opportunity to be heard on the order.” 2. By issuing the order ex parte.
- Lord, a Red flag law removes due process from not just ordinary citizens, but in this case removes it from our military members as well. It is unconstitutional to have property take from someone without such due process.

4. Biden Administration Doles Out $250K to Wuhan Lab-Linked Group (freebeacon.com)
The Biden administration awarded more than $250,000 to an organization whose founder waged a secret campaign last year to undercut the theory that the coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency granted $253,279 to EcoHealth Alliance in July to conduct research to thwart the use of viruses as weapons of mass destruction. EcoHealth Alliance worked closely with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the lab that many U.S. officials believe was ground zero for the coronavirus outbreak. The group's founder, Peter Daszak, secretly organized a group of scientists early in the pandemic to publicly undermine the theory that the pandemic sprung from a leak at the Wuhan lab.
The U.S. intelligence community is divided on whether the virus came from the lab or naturally spilled over from animals to humans. One intelligence agency assessed with moderate confidence that an accident at the Wuhan lab resulted in the first coronavirus infection, according to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Four other intelligence agencies assessed with only low confidence that the first infection came through natural exposure. Though the lab-leak theory was widely dismissed in 2020, a growing number of scientists now say it is the most likely explanation for the outbreak.
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency, which operates within the Defense Department, has awarded $37 million to EcoHealth since 2013, though the July grant was the first given during the Biden administration. The Trump and Biden administrations have investigated whether the Chinese government covered up evidence of a 2019 lab accident at the Wuhan Institute that may have caused the pandemic. Republicans in Congress have called for investigations into EcoHealth Alliance’s relationship with the Wuhan Institute.

5. House passes bill that would ban state-level abortion restrictions | Washington Examiner
The House on Friday passed a bill that would prohibit some state-level abortion restrictions. The bill, which is supported by President Joe Biden, is unlikely to pass the Senate.
The Women’s Health Protection Act would make it a right for a woman to undergo an abortion procedure, and it would override certain state laws restricting those procedures, including mandatory waiting periods, bans on abortions via telemedicine, or requiring providers to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she would bring the bill to the floor for a vote after the Supreme Court declined to block a controversial Texas law prohibiting abortion after six weeks on procedural grounds.
At a Friday press conference, Pelosi said that because fellow California Democratic Rep. Judy Chu had already introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act, “we were ready.”
“Today is a day of mixed emotions,” Pelosi said. “I’m really happy that at long last we have a pro-choice House Democratic Caucus, which is a majority of the House, and a Democratic president to sign the bill.” She added that she hopes a Democratic Senate passes it as well.

6. Biden Taps ‘Sanctuary City’ Supporter To Oversee ICE Prosecutions (freebeacon.com)
The Biden administration is tapping a left-wing attorney who has publicly endorsed sanctuary laws for illegal aliens to serve as Immigration and Customs Enforcement's top prosecutor, according to an internal memo obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
ICE announced the hiring of Kerry Doyle, a longtime partner at the Boston-based law firm Graves & Doyle, as the agency's new principal legal adviser, a role that oversees 25 field locations and 1,250 attorneys. The office serves as ICE’s representative in all removal proceedings and litigates cases against illegal aliens and terrorists.
"Throughout her legal practice in Boston, Ms. Doyle worked closely with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition and Massachusetts Law Reform Institute providing technical assistance and public testimony and various immigration-related policy issues before the state legislature and Boston City Council," the ICE memo reads.
A spokesman for ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Doyle's appointment comes as the Biden administration faces an influx of Haitian refugees, who are overrunning the border city of Del Rio, Texas. After reversing a bevy of Trump-era immigration rules, an uptick in illegal migration across the Southern border has strained resources and presented a political problem for the president, who repudiated Trump's hardline approach to policing the border but risks political blowback from an influx of illegal residents.

7. Pennsylvania university threatens students who 'misuse' pronouns | U.S. News (christianpost.com)
Point Park University in Pennsylvania sent an email to its students threatening that they will face disciplinary action if they don't use their classmates’ preferred gender pronouns.
“The Office of Equity and Inclusion would like to welcome in the 2021-2022 academic year with information on current policies that exist through our office and information regarding the Preferred Name Policy, instances of misgendering, pronoun misuse, and deadnaming (the use of a person’s legal ‘dead’ name instead of using the person’s chosen or preferred name), as well as resources on microaggressions and additional training,” the email reads, according to Campus Reform.
The policy states that “any individual who has been informed of another person’s gender identity, pronouns, or chosen name is expected to respect that individual.”
The university’s Pronouns and Inclusive Language Guide says using “gender inclusive language” is needed to avoid causing “trans and gender non-conforming folks to feel isolated.”
“While the University recognizes the aspect of intent versus impact, we must recognize that regardless of the intent, if an individual is impacted in a harmful way, action could be taken if a complaint is filed,” the email adds.

8. Federal authorities 'dragging their heels kicking and screaming' on Montana oil, gas leases | Washington Examiner
The Biden administration is delaying lease sales of federal lands for oil and gas exploration even after a court order, the head of the Western Energy Alliance said.
President Joe Biden banned oil and gas lease sales by directing the U.S. Department of the Interior to pause new oil and natural gas leasing on public lands and offshore waters. It did not impact existing operations or permits for valid, existing leases, the agency said.
After 13 states filed suit in federal court in Louisiana against the federal government over the ban, U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty ruled that the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and the Mineral Leasing Act require the Department of Interior to hold periodic lease sales of available land for oil and gas production, World Oil reported. That hasn’t been done since the beginning of the Biden administration.
“So they're dragging their heels kicking and screaming, but they are moving forward with lease sales. My problem with it is that they're redoing work that's already been done and presenting that to the judge as if it's progress,” Kathleen Sgamma, president of the Western Energy Alliance, told The Center Square.

9. National Border Patrol Council Head: If Biden Wasn’t President, I’d ‘Arrest Him For Aiding And Abetting’ | The Daily Wire
Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), told Fox News during an interview on Thursday night that if President Joe Biden were not president, he would arrest Biden for “aiding and abetting.”
“I’ve been patrolling the borders since Clinton was the president and I can tell you personally, that the policies that have been in place were by far the best under President Trump and President Biden completely and totally dismantled all of those policies,” Judd told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “And when you look at our Border Patrol agents, when they are sent down there to that job, and by the way, Mayorkas was down on the border, and he saw the horses, he knew the horses were out there, and now he’s making, doing a 180.”
“But when our agents are out there trying to patrol the border, do their job to the best of their ability, then they’re vilified by the president,” he continued. “You know, we feel like why even go out there and do it? Why put on that uniform? Why care about the American public? That’s why we do it; we put on that uniform, because we care about the American public; we want to go out there and we want to protect them. And Joe Biden is trying to break that down.”

10. Drought in the US Southwest is worst in recorded history - Live Science
The ongoing drought in the U.S. Southwest is the worst drought the region has experienced since record keeping began in 1895, according to a new report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Drought Task Force.
The 20 months from January 2020 through August 2021 saw the lowest total precipitation and the third-highest daily average temperatures ever recorded in the Southwest (which encompasses Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah), resulting in an "unyielding, unprecedented and costly" crisis, the report said.
While the drought punctuates a two-decades-long period of declining precipitation in the Southwest that is "presumably natural," human-induced climate change exacerbated the current drought significantly by driving up average temperatures to scorching highs, the report found. Together, the low precipitation and searing temperatures reduced the area's mountain snowpack and increased water evaporation in Southwestern soil, leading to the severe and persistent drought. A Prophetic Dream For The Times

Over the years, I have had many prophetic dreams, but generally I keep them to myself or share them only with my wife. This dream, however, may speak to you. Friday night-Saturday morning, during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), I dreamt that I was with several people unknown to me. Christ sat in our midst and said that he wanted to warn us that there will be very troubling and deceptive times ahead, that these events would cause fear among many and test their faith, but to remember that he is with us. He said that we should not be distressed by these events, but to keep our faith, encourage others and be strengthened by the foreknowledge of what is to come that we are not alarmed, but prepared.
To me, it is significant that this dream occurred during Tabernacles, a celebration of God with us, the fall feast yet unfulfilled signifying the return of the Messiah to dwell with his people, is an indicator that Christ is our shelter. Psalm 46 is a powerful promise starting with verse 1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” Verses 7 and 11 repeat: “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” In Isaiah 41:13, the Lord says, “For I the Lord your God will hold your right hand, saying unto you, Fear not; I will help you.” Be encouraged that in the times ahead, the Lord is your security.
Dreams, such as these not only need to be interpreted, but also discerned. My brother in Christ William Agbeti reminded me of the three questions to discern this dream: Does it represent the mind of God? Does it bring comfort? Does it offer a solution? When I awoke from the dream, I immediately was drawn to the Olivet Discourse where Christ told his disciples about what would happen in the end times. The depth of the dream followed Christ’s teaching. Indeed, it brought comfort to know that Christ is with us in these troubled times ahead. The dream offered a solution in that we are to keep our faith, encourage others, and be strengthened.
The interpretation is straightforward. It was a very plain and intentional message. The Lord does not want us to be ignorant of the time ahead, nor does he want us to be deceived, nor in fear. If we are forewarned, we have the opportunity to respond to events rather than reacting. The idea of keeping the faith in troubled times is a reminder to not fall prey to false doctrines or false hope, but to trust (have faith in the Lord). In our faith, we are to be strengthened and courageous ambassadors to the mystery of the gospel. We are to be an encouragement to others that their faith may not falter. Understand that America is not at the heart of God’s prophecy. Israel is. What happens there is a sign of things to come. Also be reminded that others around the world have it much worse than do we. In all, be encouraged as Christ is with you.

La Palma volcano eruption today: evacuation, possible tsunami and live updates

La Palma lockdown as lava approaches sea
Emergency authorities early on Monday ordered people in an area on the eastern shore of La Palma island to lock down as the lava gushing from the Cumbre Vieja volcano approaches the sea.
The 1,250 Celsius degree lava may touch the Atlantic Ocean in the coming hours, likely causing explosions and sending clouds of toxic gases over the island, the Canary Islands emergency services warned on Monday morning.
"Population will have to follow the authorities guidance and remain in their home with doors and windows closed," the services said on their Twitter account.
People on the coastal areas of San Borondon, Marina Alta and Baja and La Condesa were ordered to lock down.
Reuters drone footage showed a rapid river of red hot lava flowing down the slopes of the crater, passing close to homes, and swathes of land and buildings engulfed by a black mass of slower-moving, older lava. (AS.com) Read more.

1. It is not even believable the dishonesty of the Fake News Media on the Arizona Audit results, which shows incomprehensible Fraud at an Election Changing level, many times more votes than is needed. The Fake News Media refuses to write the facts, thereby being complicit in the Crime of the Century. They are so dishonest, but Patriots know the truth! Arizona must immediately decertify their 2020 Presidential Election Results.
2. CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, and other Lamestream Media are feeding large-scale misinformation to the public about the Arizona Audit. The Audit was a big win for democracy and a big win for us. Shows how corrupt the Election was. Arizona State Senate hearing going on now and the information about what took place is terrible—a bigger Scam even than anticipated!
3. The Fake News is lying about the Arizona audit report! The leaked report conclusively shows there were enough fraudulent votes, mystery votes, and fake votes to change the outcome of the election 4 or 5 times over. The number includes 23,344 mail-in ballots, despite the person no longer living at that address. Phantom voters! The official canvass does not even match who voted, off by 11,592—more than the entire Presidential Election margin. Voters who voted in multiple counties totaled 10,342, and 2,382 ballots came from people who no longer lived in Maricopa County. There were also 2,592 "more duplicate ballots than original ballots." Just those fraudulent ballots alone total 50,252, and is fraud many more times than the so-called margin of “victory,” which was only 10,457. In addition, election data appears to have been intentionally deleted, and ballot images were “corrupt or missing.” This is not even the whole state of Arizona, but only Maricopa County. It would only get worse!
4. Huge findings in Arizona! However, the Fake News Media is already trying to “call it” again for Biden before actually looking at the facts—just like they did in November! The audit has uncovered significant and undeniable evidence of FRAUD! Until we know how and why this happened, our Elections will never be secure. This is a major criminal event and should be investigated by the Attorney General immediately. The Senate’s final report will be released today at 4:00PM ET. I have heard it is far different than that being reported by the Fake News Media.

The new detections are a triumph over adversity for InSight, which has battled declining power levels.
NASA's InSight lander has detected its three most powerful marsquakes yet, potentially giving scientists an even clearer picture of the Red Planet's interior.
InSight spotted 4.2- and 4.1-magnitude temblors on Aug. 25, then picked up another roughly 4.2-magnitude quake on Sept. 18 that lasted for nearly 90 minutes, NASA officials announced on Wednesday (Sept. 22).
The previous record holder, which InSight measured in 2019, clocked in at magnitude 3.7 — about five times less powerful than a 4.2-magnitude quake.
InSight (short for "Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport") touched down near the Martian equator in November 2018, tasked with probing the planet's interior like never before. Read More

The Gersons are putting the biblical idea into practice by supporting the work of Christian and missionary doctors across the African continent.
"When we learned some 20 years ago about the work of Christian missionary doctors in Africa and how they are sacrificing everything in order to serve the poor by bringing healthcare for those who would otherwise not have it, we said, 'this is what it means to love the stranger.'"
This week, the couple pledged a record $18 million to support the work of African Mission Healthcare, which Mark co-founded 11 years ago.
"A single gift of this magnitude is virtually unheard of in African clinical medicine," Dr. Jon Fielder, African Mission Healthcare's (AMH) chief executive, said in a statement. "This tremendous generosity will enable care for hundreds of thousands of people who would otherwise be without.
The Gersons are joined in their generosity by the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS), which has agreed to add $2 million to the Gerson's gift for a total commitment of $20 million — through the UBS Optimus Foundation.
Gerson often refers to the Christian medical missionaries who serve on the continent as 'sacred people' who perform their sacrificial services in the name of their Christian faith.
"The number of lives that these Christian doctors save and transform per dollar invested while building the institutions that will amplify care in Africa for generations is staggering," Gerson said in a follow-up statement. "We hope that the matching component of this gift will encourage more people to further enable these missionary physicians to do their sacred work as the indispensable source of care to millions of people in Africa."
