TODAY'S TOP STORY
This week: Senate set for chaotic sprint before break
[Note: The information below is an excerpt of this article. Please be in prayer over all the
frantic activity that will occur this week in the Senate, as they prepare to go into their
Memorial Day District Work Period (recess) next week.]

Democrats are poised to have another family meeting this week on the For the People Act, the party’s top legislative priority heading into 2022.

To pass the bill under the current Senate rules Democrats need the support of 10 Republican senators, an impossible task given unified GOP opposition to the legislation. Complicating the political landscape for Democrats, they don’t have the votes to nix the 60-vote legislative filibuster and Manchin has said he doesn’t support the sweeping bill to overhaul elections.

In addition to making changes to voting access, the bill also overhauls campaign finance rules, changes the makeup of the Federal Election Commission, imposes new ethics rules for public officials and establishes new requirements on congressional redistricting.

Manchin isn’t the only hurdle for Democrats, with senators fielding requests for smaller changes to help solidify the backing from the 49 senators already signed on as co-sponsors.

Schumer has said he will give the bill a vote before August, meaning once the Senate returns from the one-week break he’ll have a matter of weeks to figure out how to bring it to the floor and if he’s going to be able to unify his caucus. (The Hill)

1. Bennett considering deal with Likud even if Netanyahu doesn't have a majority - Israel National News
The 'change bloc' is considering passing a law which would dissolve the Knesset if Yair Lapid fails to form a government. The move would prevent the mandate to form the government from being passed on to the Knesset after Lapid's mandate expires in nine days.

Meretz MK Issawi Frej has already submitted a proposal to dissolve the Knesset, in coordination with Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid. Sources close to him say there is currently no intention to pass the bill, but when Lapid's mandate is closer to expiring the 'change bloc' will take it up if there is no other option.

Kan 11 News reported that New Hope chairman Gideon Sa'ar made it clear that he would not join a Lapid-led government without Yamina chairman Naftali Bennett. On the other hand, Bennett continues his negotiations with the Likud, and is considering concluding an agreement with Netanyahu, even if the incumbent prime minister does not have a majority to form a government.

Lapid said today at the beginning of his faction meeting that he believes that Naftali Bennett made a mistake when he stopped the negotiations to form a coalition with Yesh Atid and stated that he would work to get him back. "I hope he comes back. It's something that sometimes happens in political life. It could be that sometimes it also changes the opening conditions," Lapid said. (Read more)

2. Israel Picks New Mossad Chief - Jewish Press

Israel announced the appointment of David Barnea, 56, as the next head of the Mossad. Barnea will be replacing Yossi Cohen whose term is ending. Barnea has been with the Mossad for the past 25 years.

Barnea, a father of four, was appointed as Cohen’s deputy in 2019. He takes over on June 1st.

Prime Minister Netanyahu awarded Cohen with the Prime Minister’s award for Mossad operations at a ceremony on Monday.

Netanyahu said that Israel is going to be opening up the movie theaters in a few days, but there’s not a single action movie that comes close to depicting the exploits of the Mossad.

3. UAE, Jordan ready to facilitate Israel-Palestinian peace efforts - Jerusalem Post

The United Arab Emirates stands ready to facilitate peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians, the de facto ruler of the Gulf state said in remarks carried on state media on Sunday.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan made the comments in a telephone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, whose country, with US support, brokered a ceasefire on Friday that ended the fiercest fighting in years between Israel and Islamist militant group Hamas.

The UAE, which last year normalized ties with Israel, "is ready to work with all parties to maintain the ceasefire and explore new paths to reduce escalation and achieve peace," state news agency WAM cited Sheikh Mohammed as saying. (Read more)

4. Gantz orders seizure of smuggled contraband destined for Gaza - YNET News

Defense Minister Benny Gantz signed five administrative orders for the seizure of suspected contraband material destined for the Gaza Strip, shortly before the eruption of the hostilities between Israel and Gaza's terrorist factions on May 10.
According to a ministry statement released on Monday, the shipments contained large quantities of potassium chloride, glycerin, polyurethane, polyester, fiberglass, and communications equipment.
All the seized equipment can be used for civilian as well as military purposes and would have been likely used by the terrorist group Hamas which rules Gaza.
"Since the beginning of the year, the defense minister has signed more than twenty administrative orders against contraband material suspected of being used by Hamas and other terrorist factions in Gaza," the statement read. (Read more)

5. 'Israel has no right to exist,' top Hamas official asserts - Israel Hayom

Senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Zahar said Monday that Israel has no right to exist, adding almost in the same breath that Hamas leaders would be willing to meet with US President Joe Biden so as to further the Palestinian cause.

In a rare interview with Britain's Sky News from his Gaza home, Zahar, 76, insisted that Hamas, which took over the Strip in 2007 in a military coup, emerged from the 11-day conflict with Israel with the upper hand, explaining that Hamas' achieved "a strategic and symbolic victory."

"The new element [in the most recent hostilities] is the degree of the resistance movement, particularly in Gaza, to attack the Israeli targets at very important points, including most of the overcrowded area in the civilian society. So for how long the Israeli will accept that, I think this is the main issue."

He denied that Hamas was firing rockets from within populated areas of Gaza, effectively using the Palestinian population as human shields – action defined as a war crime – despite multiple videos showing Hamas operatives doing just that. (Read more)

6. WATCH: MIRACLE IN THE IDF, ANTI-TANK MISSILE HITS BUS MOMENTS AFTER SOLDIERS EXIT – Israel365

Hamas scored a direct hit with an anti-tank missile that hit a bus transporting IDF troops Thursday morning just outside of the Zikim base south of Ashkelon. The missile tore through the bulletproof armor and exploded but tragedy was narrowly averted as ten soldiers from the Paratroopers Brigade had descended from the bus just moments before the attack. A soldier standing nearby was lightly injured by shrapnel. The soldiers were returning from a successful mission.

Hamas posted a video of the attack, intending to show a victory when, in fact, they were illustrating God’s great mercy and protection of the People of Israel. (Read more

1. Congressman ‘Forgot’ to Cast Proxy Vote That May Have Killed Democrat-Backed Spending Package: Spokesperson- The Epoch Times

A member of the House didn’t cast a proxy vote for a fellow congressman on the Democrat-backed $1.9 billion Capitol security spending bill because it slipped his mind, according to a spokesperson.

A spokesperson for Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) told Just the News that “Calvert had been voting by proxy” for Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) “throughout the week” before the vote was held. It came just days after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) extended the COVID-19 vote-by-proxy mandate for several more weeks, which was criticized by Republicans.
But for the vote on the $1.9 billion package on May 20, “Rep. Calvert made a mistake and simply forgot to cast Rep. Carter’s vote,” the spokesperson said.
Carter had submitted a letter to the House clerk to give Calvert the authority to vote by proxy.
The bill passed 213-212, as several Democratic members of the leftist “Squad” voted against the bill or abstained. Many of them said that they didn’t want to provide more funding for police departments. (Read more)

2. DOJ Seizes $90,000, Charges Black Lives Matter Supporter Who ‘Stormed Capitol,’ Sold Footage to News Outlets- The Epoch Times

The Department of Justice (DOJ) seized $90,000 from a Utah man who sold footage of Ashli Babbitt being shot during the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, according to court filings.
John Earle Sullivan, a political activist who reportedly attended Black Lives Matter protests last year and who allegedly agitated rioters inside the Capitol, was also charged with new weapons charges, according to the documents unsealed last week.

So far, more than 400 people have been charged in connection to the breach, which occurred as members of Congress were voting to certify the 2020 presidential election.

According to the court filings, Sullivan portrayed himself as an independent journalist who was reporting on the chaos, but he actually encouraged other participants to “burn” the building and engage in violence. (Read more)

3. New York Man Arrested for Setting Fire to Jewish School, Synagogue: DOJ – The Epoch Times

New York man was been arrested and charged for setting fire to a Jewish school and synagogue in Brooklyn, the Justice Department said.

The man, Ali Alaheri, 29, from Brooklyn is accused of piling garbage bags against the side of a yeshiva, or a Jewish school, and synagogue on 36th Street in Brooklyn, and setting the bags on fire in the early hours of May 19, according to a criminal complaint.

Alaheri was captured on surveillance footage allegedly committing the act as well as punching a man wearing traditional Hasidic garb several hours later without provocation. Federal prosecutors said Alaheri and the victim had no prior interactions before the alleged assault.

The task force officer responsible for Alaheri’s investigation said he identified the 29-year-old from photographs available in the New York Police Department database. Alaheri was arrested allegedly wearing the same clothing as was seen on the suspect in the video footage of the assault. 4. Fauci Tells Fact-Check Event He Is ‘Not Convinced’ COVID-19 Virus Developed Naturally- Daily Wire

Again and again, Dr. Anthony Fauci has emphatically said there is no scientific evidence the COVID-19 virus was made in a Chinese lab.

“If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated,” Fauci said in an interview almost exactly a year ago. “Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species.”…

But with Republicans on Capitol Hill demanding more information about where the virus originated, Fauci is changing his tune. In an interview earlier this month, published on Saturday, PolitiFact’s Katie Sanders asked Fauci: “There’s a lot of cloudiness around the origins of COVID-19 still, so I wanted to ask, are you still confident that it developed naturally?”

“No actually,” Fauci said, “I am not convinced about that, I think we should continue to investigate what went on in China until we continue to find out to the best of our ability what happened. (Read more)

5. ‘Cowards’: Former Democratic state Rep. Dov Hikind calls out ‘silent’ Schumer, Cuomo, de Blasio, and Nadler amid growing anti-Semitism – Washington Examiner

New York’s Democratic leaders are “cowards” and are “silent” in the face of escalating antisemitic violence, said former state Assemblyman Dov Hikind. “It’s called antisemitism. Clearly. And where is the political leadership?” Hikind, a Democrat, asked in a Twitter video. “They are silent.”

In the video, Hikind highlighted the recent attacks on the Jewish community and said Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Rep. Jerry Nadler were not saying or doing enough to protect its members.

“These attacks are happening constantly; many of them are not being reported. And our political leadership is missing in action. They are simply cowards. Cowards are what they are,” he added. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for Your Holy Spirit to bring about conviction of sin on both political parties.  Grant them knowledge of wisdom and truth, and give them the fearlessness to do what is right.

6. Pentagon chief unable to talk to Chinese military leaders despite repeated attempts – Reuters

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has so far been unable to speak with China's top general despite multiple attempts to set up talks, U.S. defense officials said on Friday.

Relations between China and the United States have grown increasingly tense, with the world's two largest economies clashing over everything from Taiwan and China's human rights record to its military activity in the South China Sea.

Despite the tensions and heated rhetoric, U.S. military officials have long sought to have open lines of communication with their Chinese counterparts to be able to mitigate potential flare-ups or deal with any accidents.

"The military relationship is strained, no question about that. It’s hard to know how much this is reflective of that strain as much as it is just Chinese intransigence," a U.S. defense official said. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that if You want the Secretary of Defense to talk with his counterpart in China, You will make it happen. But we bind any concessions that could harm the US, and pray Your covering against deception.

7. Biden to skip Notre Dame commencement amid backlash over abortion stance – Washington Examiner

President Joe Biden will not attend the University of Notre Dame's 2021 commencement this Sunday, breaking a 20-year tradition. The decision comes after students at the school and its alumni petitioned Notre Dame's president, Rev. John Jenkins, not to invite Biden, the second Roman Catholic president, over his pro-abortion policies.

While the petition to exclude the Democratic president was signed by 4,300 "members of the Notre Dame community," the Catholic News Agency reports Biden was ultimately invited but will not attend due to a scheduling conflict.

The president’s decision breaks a recent tradition spanning the three previous administrations in which a president or vice president addressed the school. The tradition started when President George W. Bush first addressed the school in 2001 and was followed by addresses by President Barack Obama in 2009 and Vice President Mike Pence in 2017. (The man, Ali Alaheri, 29, from Brooklyn is accused of piling garbage bags against the side of a yeshiva, or a Jewish school, and synagogue on 36th Street in Brooklyn, and setting the bags on fire in the early hours of May 19, according to a criminal complaint. 8. Exclusive — Devin Nunes on Revelations of Hunter Biden Trips Through Joint Base Andrews: ‘Proof of Corporate Media’s Utter Corruption’ - Breitbart

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), told Breitbart News that revelations in a new book that President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden took more than 20 trips through Joint Base Andrews are more proof of “utter corruption” of establishment media.

“The revelation of Hunter Biden’s trips through Joint Base Andrews is further proof of the corporate media’s utter corruption and blinding partisanship,” Nunes told Breitbart News exclusively on Sunday. “They dismissed, ridiculed, and censored reporting on Hunter’s obvious conflicts of interest for the sole purpose of helping Joe Biden’s election prospects. The corporate media has fully merged with the Democratic Party, and their reporting is indistinguishable from crude Democrat talking points.”

Nunes’s comments on this matter come after revelations about Hunter Biden’s travel practices, when his father was vice president to former President Barack Obama, were published Saturday from the new book Breaking the News: Exposing the Establishment Media’s Secret Deals and Hidden Corruption. In particular, the book—from Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow—revealed Secret Service travel records that showed Hunter Biden took 411 trips, including to 29 foreign countries and 23 trips through Joint Base Andrews, from 2009 to 2014. During that time, his father—now the president of the United States—was vice president of the United States. (Read more)

9. Report: Oregon Health Authority Tells Businesses to Check Customer Vaccination Status if Maskless- Breitbart

Oregon Health Authority announced new guidelines this week, stating businesses would be required to enforce a mask mandate unless the establishment can confirm the vaccination status of individuals before entering the building without a mask, despite the state lifting mask requirements, according to a report by the New York Times.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the new guidelines for masks at the White House last week, paving the way for states to start lifting mask mandates across the country. Oregon was one of the first to lift the mandate.

Oregon’s Democrat Gov. Kate Brown had said, “Oregonians who were fully vaccinated no longer needed to wear masks in most public settings, except in places like schools, public transit, and health care settings.”

According to the report, the health authority in Oregon, as of Tuesday, is “requiring businesses, workplaces, and houses of worship to verify the vaccination status of individuals before they enter buildings without a mask.” (The man, Ali Alaheri, 29, from Brooklyn is accused of piling garbage bags against the side of a yeshiva, or a Jewish school, and synagogue on 36th Street in Brooklyn, and setting the bags on fire in the early hours of May 19, according to a criminal complaint.(Read more)

10. 'Coding error' blamed after only Democratic ballots appear on voting machines- WND

When it comes to claims of voter fraud or election irregularities, it’s always prudent to simply examine the facts, keep an open mind and not let one’s preconceived biases cloud one's judgment of a given piece of information about how elections are conducted.

At this rate, however, millions of disgruntled 2020 voters will have a hard time not crying foul as they see, yet again, the words “Dominion,” “error,” “Pennsylvania” and “Republican voters” all in the same headline.

Yeah … this does not look good.

Republican voters in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania’s primary election this week reported a concerning “typo” that presented them with ballots for Democratic voters despite their party affiliation.

According to WNEP-TV, some polling locations reported the concerning error, which appeared when poll workers pulled up ballots on Dominion Voting Systems machines for Republican voters only to find them labeled “Official Democratic Ballot.” (Read more)

- Lord, as more and more of these situations are revealed, we pray that You would remove the blinders over the eyes of the people to see truth.

- “And with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12)

11. Judge rules Christian college must follow Biden rule opening dorms, showers to opposite sex - WND

A federal judge on Wednesday rejected a Christian college’s request to halt the Biden administration’s directive on gender identity in dwellings.

The College of the Ozarks, a Christian college in Missouri, had argued the government order, which claims to fight discrimination against transgender people, impinges on the rights of Christians and violates Biblical beliefs.

The dispute sets up a new legal battle over religious liberty and gender identity. - Lord, we ask that this ruling be appealed to the Supreme Court as quickly as possible for the sake of women. We also pray for the judge who issued the ruling, that they would be transformed and reverse the statement.

Doublemindedness

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, May 24, 2021

Chicago Stands As A Great Example. Chicago’s Gun Control Laws Are Among The Strictest In The Nation, But There Have Been Over 1,000 Shootings This Year. Chicago's Mayor Champions Equality, Yet She Is Banning Interviews With White Reporters. And It's Only Her. America Is Dumbfounded By Doublemindedness.

America is struck with a virus far worse than COVID—doublemindedness. America is dumbfounded by doublemindedness. Chicago stands as a great example. Chicago’s gun control laws are among the strictest in the nation, but there have been over 1,000 shootings since the beginning of the year. A week ago, from May 14-17, CBS Chicago reports that “at least 47 people were shot” with six fatalities. To own a gun in Chicago, you need to have a Firearms Owners Identification Card and be over 21 years old. I wonder how many gunslingers in Chicago abide by that. Yet, every week the doubleminded people cry for more gun control when it just arms the lawless at the expense of the law-abiding.

BLM Activist Part of Jan. 6th Riot
Black Lives Matter Supporter at Capitol Breach Said He ‘Brought My Megaphone to Instigate’ Trump Supporters

The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed new charges against reported Black Lives Matter activist John Sullivan for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, saying that Sullivan allegedly told others later that he brought along a megaphone to incite riots inside the building.

According to court documents filed last week by federal prosecutors, Sullivan, of Utah, is facing new weapons charges. Sullivan, in statements online and in reports, said he attended a number of Black Lives Matter protests last year, posted numerous anti-police and anti-Trump statements, and also allegedly posted support on Twitter for armed revolution.

After leaving the Capitol on Jan. 6, Sullivan was seen, according to federal prosecutors, telling a witness that he “brought my megaphone to instigate [expletive]” and wanted to “make these Trump supporters [expletive] all this [expletive] up” inside the Capitol building.

Sullivan, they said, also portrayed himself as a journalist who was documenting the incident. However, they said that he was actively participating in the breach—and even apparently broke a window.  (The Epoch Times)

Evidence of Fraud in New Hampshire
(Unintentional or otherwse!)
New Hampshire Auditors Find Problem: Scan Counted 28 Percent of Test Ballots for GOP Candidates

Auditors who are examining votes in Windham, New Hampshire, may have figured out why initial results showed a discrepancy in the vote count for a Democratic candidate.

Republicans in Windham, New Hampshire won all four seats in the legislative election on Nov. 3, but a Democrat candidate, Kristi St. Lauren, requested a recount, which was granted because she lost by just 24 votes.

However, during a hand recount, it was revealed that she didn’t lose by 24 votes. Instead, the effort revealed that the GOP candidates had actually received 300 additional votes, while St. Laurent lost 99 votes.

An audit was carried out to determine why there was a discrepancy in the initial results and the recount tally. Now, the auditors involved in the process have said that they may have discovered the reason why. (Read more here.)

Evidence of Possible Fraud in Maricopa County (Arizona)
Maricopa County Lawyer Demands 2020 Auditors Preserve All Documents, May File Lawsuit

An attorney representing Maricopa County, Arizona, has sent Republican state Senate President Karen Fann a letter demanding the preservation of all documents relating to the county’s 2020 election audit.

Maricopa County attorney Allister Adel sent the notice (pdf) to Fann, saying that some of the auditors involved in the process made potentially false or defamatory allegations.
“It is clear the Arizona Senate and its contractors do not intend to retract false allegations defaming the County and its employees,” Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers said in a statement on May 21, in connection with the demand letter sent by Adel. The letter’s language suggested that the county may be readying a lawsuit against Fann and other Republican leaders, as lawyers typically issue litigation holds before filing suits.

“For that reason, Maricopa County is formally requesting Senate President Fann, Senator Petersen, Senate liaison Ken Bennett, and contractors involved in the ‘audit’ preserve documents and evidence as they may be subject to future legal claims,” he stated.

Mission Cry shares Bibles near Osama bin Laden’s compound

Pakistan (MNN) — We’ve been reporting on Mission Cry’s plan to send Bibles and the Gospel to Abbottabad, Pakistan.
Jason Woolford felt led to send scriptures to 500 houses surrounding the site of Osama Bin Laden’s old compound where he was killed in 2011. Woolford says, “So we began to pray and plan and reached out to our Pakistan missionary team there. And I said, ‘Listen, I need you to pray, this is what I feel like you to do to go down to Osama bin Laden’s compound, and give the Word of God there, 2000 Bibles in total.’ And I said, ‘I need you to pray because it’s very serious.’ He came back a couple of days later said, ‘We’re in.’”

Woolford says 100 Muslims began following Christ after receiving Bibles from Mission Cry partners. Woolford says, “For those that are listening, that did pray, I want to thank you, because we know that that’s it’s war, we were awarding, on behalf of this team.”

The Christians interacted with all people in the area, from older women to young boys, handing out Bibles and praying. “The military came into the compound and told them that they needed to stop praying, as traditionally they were holding hands and praying. They stopped, but they continued to pray, walked that entire property, and the military left them alone.”

Pray for these new believers in Abbottabad. They live in a country very unfriendly to Christians and other religious minorities. Ask God to transform this area where violence and fear once ruled. Pray it would become a place of peace and wholeness. (Mnnonline) Read more here.

Are You Washed in the Blood?

To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE

Words and Music: Elisha Hoffman

Scripture: They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 7:14

Lyrics:
Have you been to Jesus
For the cleansing power?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain

Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless?
Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily
By the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain

When the Bridegroom cometh
Will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Refrain

Lay aside the garments
That are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
O be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
