Biden Defense Budget Gives China Upper Hand, Republican Hawks Say
President Joe Biden's $6 trillion budget proposal puts money toward universal pre-K and cracking down on the fossil fuel industry but shrinks the Navy's budget for weapons procurement and building warships, leaving it at severe risk in a potential showdown with China.
The Biden budget—released on the eve of Memorial Day weekend—makes major cuts to the Navy in some of its most needed areas, such as building equipment and training sailors. The Navy will need to reckon with a more than 5 percent drop in shipbuilding dollars and the decommissioning of 11 combat-ready ships, including 4 advanced warships.
China, meanwhile, has increased its fleet size at breakneck speed and now touts the largest navy in the world. House Armed Services Committee member Mike Gallagher (R., Wis.) said the Biden budget puts the United States in danger of losing a World War III-style scenario. (Washington Free Beacon) Read more.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL
1. Head of IDF Southern Command: ‘We’re Ready for Next Stage’ of Operation Against Hamas- Algemeiner
The head of IDF Southern Command told Israel’s Channel 13 on Thursday that the IDF is preparing for “the next stage” of Israel’s latest conflict with Hamas, which ended in a ceasefire on May 21.
Maj. Gen. Eliezer Toledano said, “The first stage of Operation Guardian of the Walls is over. We are ready for the next stage, because what we did isn’t enough.”
“The operation will end definitively when the security reality changes for real,” he asserted. “We have to fully exploit the operation we have already begun.”
Toledano also addressed the difference between Guardian of the Walls and 2014’s Operation Protective Edge, which lasted longer and involved the use of ground forces. (Read more)
2. Bennett, Lapid preparing law to bar Netanyahu from running - Israel National News
The Bennett-Lapid government plans to promote two dramatic laws in its early days - the cooling-off law and the law to dissolve the Likud.
According to the coalition agreement revealed by Channel 12 News, a law will be promoted that prevents those who served as prime minister for at least four years from running for the next Knesset, a law which would only apply to Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been prime minister for the last 12 years.
This means that if the law is passed, he will not be allowed to run in the Knesset in the upcoming elections. Thus, Netanyahu would have an interest in ensuring that the government survives for the full four years, because if it falls ahead of schedule, then someone else in the Likud would be the party's candidate for prime minister. 3. N. Korea accuses Israel of turning Gaza into 'human slaughterhouse' - Israel Hayom
The North Korean Foreign Ministry has commented on the latest round of fighting between Israel and Hamas, accusing Israel of massacring children.
In a statement that received widespread coverage in pro-Palestinian media outlets and social media platforms, the hermit country said: "It is no exaggeration to say that the whole Gaza Strip has turned into a huge human slaughterhouse and a place of massacring children.
"Israel's horrific crime of killing the … children is a severe challenge to the future of humankind and a crime against the humanity." The international community should not tolerate "Israel's reckless state-sponsored terrorism and [the] act of obliterating other nations," the ministry said.
The Hamas-aligned Quds media outlet published the statement by the communist dictatorship on its Twitter account. (Read more)
4. WATCH: Parking lot collapses into sinkhole at Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek- Jerusalem Post
A portion of a parking lot collapsed into a giant sinkhole at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem on Monday afternoon, Israel Police reported.
After eight fire and search-and-rescue crews searched for people who may be trapped underneath the rubble, police determined that nobody had been injured in the incident.
The sinkhole fell near where tunnels are being dug on Highway 16. The Jerusalem Affairs Ministry added that they are currently investigating a connection between the two.
Security footage shows three cars falling straight into the sinkhole. It is still unknown if there were people inside, though police later added that the likelihood of people getting stuck is low. (Read more)
5. Los Angeles Teachers Union to Vote on Endorsing Anti-Israel BDS Movement - Algemeiner
i24 News – The leadership of the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) is expected to vote in September on a resolution to stop US aid to Israel and endorse the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against “apartheid in Israel.”
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) calls the BDS movement antisemitic, saying that “advocates employ antisemitic rhetoric and narratives to isolate and demonize Israel.”
Several UTLA chapter chairs passed a resolution during the recent conflict between Israel and Gaza-based terrorist groups expressing “solidarity with the Palestinian people” and calling for an end to the “bombardment of Gaza” and stopping the “displacement at Sheikh Jarrah.”
The resolution makes no mention of the more than 4,000 rockets fired by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad indiscriminately at Israeli territory, which killed 13 people, including two children. The resolution also fails to mention evidence of Hamas firing rockets from civilian areas of Gaza.
The United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) passed a similar resolution in mid-May, reportedly becoming the first public school teachers union to endorse the anti-Israel BDS movement. (Read more)

1. SENATE VOTES AGAINST LEGISLATION TO BAN CREATION OF HUMAN-ANIMAL HYBRID EMBRYOS – Breaking Christian News
The US Senate voted on May 27, to kill a Republican amendment to a technology bill that would have prohibited disturbing and unethical research experiments designed to create human-animal hybrid embryos known as chimeras.
The amendment to the Endless Frontier Act was proposed by Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN) and co-sponsored by Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) and Sen. James Lankford (R-OK). It failed in a vote of 49-48. The amendment would have banned the creation of human-animal chimeras, the attempt to create human-animal chimeras, and the transfer of a nonhuman embryo to a human womb, and vice versa. Violators of the amendment would have faced up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of at least one million dollars or both.
The amendment was endorsed by the Family Research Council, March for Life Action, National Right to Life, Senate Pro-Life Caucus, Susan B. Anthony List, US Council of Catholic Bishops, and the White Coat Waste Project.
"Human life is distinct and sacred, and research that creates an animal-human hybrid or transfers a human embryo into an animal womb or vice versa should be completely prohibited, and engaging in such unethical experiments should be a crime," said Senator Braun in a statement.
A chimera is an organism that contains cells from two distinct species, such as an animal-human hybrid created in a laboratory setting. Research involving chimeras has been the center of a decades-long debate over a thicket of ethical implications. As bioethicist Insoo Hyun toldNPR, "Nobody wants a chimeric embryo to grow into a part-human, part-animal thing that has human cells from head to toe mixed in." Read more

2. California county cuts COVID-19 death toll by 25% after finding some deaths 'clearly not' caused by virus - Fox
A California county cut its COVID-19death toll by around 25% after determining that some deaths were not a "direct result" of the virus.
Alameda County revised the total number of deaths caused by the coronavirus to 1,223, down from 1,634.
County officials decided to revise the numbers to align with the California Department of Public Health's guidance on how to classify deaths. The county previously included deaths of anyone infected with the virus, regardless of whether COVID-19 was a direct or contributing cause of death.
Neetu Balram, a spokesperson for Alameda County Public Health, said that some of the deaths "were clearly not caused by COVID," the Los Angeles Times reported.
"Obviously our definition was broader than the state’s," Balram said, adding that the department had always planned to conduct an update "when cases and deaths stabilized." Read more

3. Exclusive – GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy Calls on Anthony Fauci to Step Down: ‘Let’s Find a Person We Can Trust’ - Breitbart
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) believes Dr. Anthony Fauci should leave his post with the Biden administration, saying during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday the American people “don’t have trust” in him.
McCarthy told host Matthew Boyle that trusting the officials tasked with answering questions surrounding coronavirus, such as the virus’s origin, is imperative and that Fauci, President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has squandered that trust.
The GOP leader’s comments come after more than 3,000 of Fauci’s emails, which BuzzFeed News obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request and made public this week, raised new questions about the medical chief’s management of coronavirus.
“I mean everything we’re finding there, how can the president— and I know the American people don’t have trust in Dr. Fauci,” McCarthy said. “Let’s find a person we can trust. Take politics aside. I mean we’re talking about American lives here.” Read more

4. Manchin breaks from Dems on S1 election bill: 'Wrong piece of legislation' to unite US – Fox
West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin said Sunday he'll vote against his Democratic colleagues' far-reaching election bill, the For the People Act, because it's too partisan.
"It's the wrong piece of legislation to bring our country together and unite our country, and I'm not supporting that because I think it would divide us more. I don't want to be in a country that's divided any further," Manchin said on "Fox News Sunday."
"I think there's a lot of great things in that piece of legislation, but there's an awful lot of things that basically don't pertain directly to voting," the senator said.
The bill, also known as S1, is the largest overhaul of U.S. election law in at least a generation and covers many aspects of the voting process, including requiring states to automatically register eligible voters and offer same-day voter registration. Read more

5. Biden faces challenge with Democrats on infrastructure package – The Hill
President Biden faces hurdles toward getting consensus among Democrats on an infrastructure package, regardless of if it's bipartisan legislation or if Democrats pursue legislation on their own.
Progressives are getting frustrated with Biden’s ongoing talks with Republicans, and want the White House to start to pursue an infrastructure package that could pass without GOP support through the budget reconciliation process.
But some Democrats have raised concerns about aspects of the tax proposals Biden has floated to pay for infrastructure legislation, so reaching a deal won’t necessarily be smooth sailing even if the president isn't focused on attracting Republican support. Some Democrats have also brought up issues with Biden’s tax proposals that relate to regional interests. Read more

6. DOJ Announces That It Will No Longer Seek Records Of Media Organizations After NYT Scandal – Daily Caller
The Department of Justice (DOJ) will no longer go to court to identify media sources in leak investigations, a spokesman announced Saturday.
“Going forward, consistent with the President’s direction, this Department of Justice, in a change to its longstanding practice, will not seek compulsory legal process in leak investigations to obtain source information from members of the news media doing their jobs.
The Department strongly values a free press, protecting First Amendment values, and is committed to taking all appropriate steps to ensure the independence of journalists,” DOJ Spokesman Anthony Coley said.
The New York Times revealed on Friday that both the Trump and Biden administrations attempted to subpoena its reporters’ emails to identify sources.
The Biden administration employed a gag order to prevent the Times and Google, which operates the Times’ email servers, from publicly discussing the subpoena attempts. Read more

7. Jim Banks: Schumer China Bill a ‘Massive Boondoggle that’s Going to Help the Chinese’ and Hurt Americans - Breitbart
Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), says the Democrats’ China bill is a “massive boondoggle that’s going to help the Chinese” and hurt Americans, making the remarks during an appearance on Breitbart News Saturday.
Banks explained that Democrats are falsely pitching the China bill as a way to better compete with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but he said it is innately flawed as it has absolutely no safeguards to prevent the theft of our intellectual property or research.
The problem, Banks said, is the bill does “exactly the opposite of what the Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer’s reporting that it does.”
“They say it would help the United States compete with China. We believe it actually helps China and there are a lot of reasons why,” the Indiana lawmaker explained, referring to it as a “boondoggle spending bill” which spends hundreds of billions funneling money to places that are already susceptible to being taken advantage of by the CCP, stealing our intellectual property. 8. Report: China’s TikTok ‘Unable To Explain’ Why They May Store Your ‘Faceprints And Voiceprints’ And Other ‘Biometric Data’- Daily Wire
Earlier this week, the Chinese social media platform TikTok released their new privacy policy informing users that the app may collect new forms of biometric data, such as “faceprints and voiceprints,” but the company has reportedly been “unable to explain what types of data these terms referred to, or why the app might need to access this information in the first place.”
“A change to TikTok’s U.S. privacy policy on Wednesday introduced a new section that says the social video app ‘may collect biometric identifiers and biometric information’ from its users’ content,” reported TechCrunch. “This includes things like ‘faceprints and voiceprints,’ the policy explained.”
TechCrunch then explained that after being reached for comment on the forms of data that may be collected, “TikTok could not confirm what product developments necessitated the addition of biometric data to its list of disclosures about the information it automatically collects from users, but said it would ask for consent in the case such data collection practices began.” Read more

9. Smugglers Openly Advertise Illegal Border Crossings on Facebook- The Epoch Times
Human smugglers along the southern border are openly advertising their services on Facebook and the social media company has fallen short on removing such content.
A plethora of user accounts have posted offers to facilitate illegal border crossings on the platform. Some even directly advertise how much they charge for the service. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.), who took office in January, repeatedly alerted Facebook to the issue in general and to a number of specific posts of this kind, but most of them haven’t been removed, she said.
Facebook has so far failed to accommodate Cammack’s request for an in-person meeting to discuss the issue, she told The Epoch Times.Given that some of the posts in question were paid advertisements, it raises the question of whether Facebook has been taking money, at least indirectly, from criminal cartels, which are known to control the human smuggling operations, Cammack said. 10. Georgia GOP Approves Resolution Censuring Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger – The Epoch Times
The Georgia Republican Party on Saturday approved a resolution censuring Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, local media reported.
The Georgia GOP during a convention approved a resolution that says Raffensperger, a Republican, failed to perform his duties in “accordance with the laws of the Constitution of the State of Georgia,” WSB-TV reported.
The document says the failure stemmed from Raffensperger entering into a settlement agreement with the Democratic Party of Georgia, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The agreement saw Raffensperger agree to promote and enforce regulations regarding prompt notification if a mail-in ballot was rejected and regarding county clerks’ signature reviews of absentee ballot envelopes and ballots.
Georgia Republicans accused Raffensperger of “undermining the security of our elections by allowing mass mailings of absentee applications by his office and third parties which created opportunities for fraud and overwhelmed election offices; rendering accurate signature matching nearly impossible; allowing ballot drop boxes without proper chain of custody; and ignoring sworn affidavits and disregarding evidence of voter fraud.”
“It’s obvious that there was fraud,” Michael Ovitz, an attendee at the convention, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “A civilized society depends upon truths and facts, not deception and deceit.” Read more

11. PENTAGON TO KEEP TRUMP-ERA BAN ON FLYING PRIDE FLAGS ON BASES –Business Insider
The Pentagon said Friday that it will not make changes to a Trump administration policy that banned all unofficial flags, including the rainbow Pride flag representing the LGBTQ+ community, on U.S. military installations for Pride month
.
The Department of Defense “will maintain the existing policy from July 2020 regarding the display or depiction of unofficial flags,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said at a press briefing Friday. “There won’t be an exception this month for the Pride flag.”
Last summer, then-President Donald Trump’s secretary of defense, Mark Esper, sent out a memo that banned the display of all unofficial flags.
“The flags we fly,” the secretary wrote in the memo, “must accord with the military imperatives of good order and discipline, treating all our people with dignity and respect, and rejecting divisive symbols.”
The Pentagon’s decision was particularly noteworthy because it indirectly but effectively banned the display of the Confederate flag on U.S. military bases even as the president pushed back on efforts to eliminate celebrations of the Confederacy, particularly the renaming of bases named after Confederate leaders.
Although prohibiting the display of symbols long associated with hate was generally seen as a progressive step, there was some criticism of the policy because it also banned the display or depiction of flags like the rainbow Pride flag. Read more

Pride Month Or Child Abuse Month?

Major corporations and the government are celebrating Pride Month with the LGBTQ people. Seems like it used to be called Gay Pride Month, but to avoid confusion after so many sexual orientations were added, they dropped the “Gay” part. So they are celebrating Pride. For me, I don’t really care what they do in their bedroom. I don’t want to know what gender they think they are today. All that is their personal preference. It’s between them and God, really. But I also don’t want them evangelizing their prideful declarations and confusions in elementary and high schools to minor children—my children or grandchildren–under some façade of anti-bullying. This is no less is sexual abuse of children.
I will say it again: To indoctrinate children with many confusing identifications of sexual orientation is sexual abuse. It is the ultimate form of bullying. Again, if an adult wants to “Identify” as something other than what they were born with, that is their choice and their liberty to choose. But that choice crosses the line when children are indoctrinated—by trusted adults, mind you—which confuses them about who and what they are. It teaches that disagreeing parents are wrong, bigoted, homophobic (well, is that a word any more since there are 29 known sexual identities?). The alphabet should be taught in the school system, but the alphabet beginning with LGBTQ should be banned in schools. The LGBTQ community uses the school system to recruit and as a shield to censor people who disagree with their agenda. Read More

'Ring of fire' eclipse 2021: When, where and how to see the annular solar eclipse on June 10
(You have to live in a narrow strip or central or eastern Canada to get the full effect.)
Northern and eastern sections of North America will experience a weird and dramatic event next Thursday (June 10).
A partial solar eclipse will be visible, and for many, it will more or less coincide with sunrise. Only for places north of a line running roughly from Churchill, Manitoba, to Halifax, Nova Scotia, will the entire eclipse be visible from start to finish after the sun rises. Elsewhere, depending on where you are, if your sky is clear toward the east-northeast, the rising sun will appear slightly dented, deeply crescent shaped, or even ring shaped.

Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
