[Byron] "Tanner" Cross made the comments during a Loudoun County school board meeting Tuesday, according to Fox News.
Cross was there to oppose a new policy within Loudoun County Public Schools requiring all staff to use students' preferred pronouns and to allow transgender students to participate in sports activities however they identify, regardless of their biological sex.
“’60 Minutes’ this past Sunday interviewed over 30 young people who transitioned,” Cross said, “but they felt led astray because of lack of pushback or how easy it was to make physical changes to their bodies in just three months. They are now de-transitioning.”
The teacher began his brief remarks by saying he was "speaking out of love for those who are suffering from gender dysphoria."
He said he believes the policy changes in question “will damage children [and] defile the holy image of God.”
The policy states school staff “shall, at the request of a student or parent/legal guardian, when using a name or pronoun to address the student, use the name and pronoun that correspond to their gender identity.”
It goes on to state “the use of gender neutral pronouns are appropriate,” adding, “Inadvertent slips in the use of names or pronouns may occur; however, staff or students who intentionally and persistently refuse to respect a student’s gender identity by using the wrong name and gender pronoun are in violation of this policy.” (FaithWire.com) Read more.

UPDATE! Teacher sues LCPS after being placed on leave over comments about gender identity policy
|
|
A Loudoun County Public Schools teacher is suing the school system after being placed on administrative leave after he made comments saying he would not call transgender students by their chosen pronouns.
The school board is considering adopting a policy (8040) that would require LCPS staff to "allow gender-expansive or transgender students to use their chosen name and gender pronouns that reflect their gender identity without any substantiating evidence, regardless of the name and gender recorded in the student’s permanent educational record."
During the public comment section at last Tuesday's meeting, Leesburg Elementary gym teacher Tanner Cross spoke out against the policy in a now viral speech . . . Less than two days after those remarks, LCPS sent Cross a letter, saying he was being placed on paid administrative leave, "pending an investigation of allegations that [he] engaged in conduct that had a disruptive impact on the operations of Leesburg Elementary School.”
When the Alliance Defending Freedom wrote to LCPS on Cross' behalf, requesting he be taken off leave and the school system refused, ADF attorneys filed a lawsuit on his behalf.
The lawsuit is asking the court to immediately halt the enforcement of Cross' suspension. LCPS said it does not comment on pending litigation. (wusa9/Washington, D.C.) Read more here.

Ringed by flashing cameras in a luxury hotel in Ramat Gan, conservative Islamist Ra’am chief Mansour Abbas made history on Wednesday night as the first Arab Israeli party leader in half a century to sign a deal to sit in a coalition government.
“This is the first time that an Arab party is part of the process of forming a government. We of course hope that it works and that a government will rise after four rounds of elections,” Abbas said.

4. First coalition hurdle: Lapid pushes to replace Knesset Speaker, Yemina MK opposes - World Israel News
Opposition Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid announced late Wednesday he had managed to form a new coalition government, but by Thursday morning serious cracks were already appearing between the eight disparate political parties hoping to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In order to block any delaying tactics by Netanyahu’s Likud party, Lapid moved to call a vote for a new Knesset speaker, given that the current speaker of the house, the Likud’s Yariv Levin, could delay the vote approving the new coalition until at least June 14 in a bid to have it fall apart even before it is sworn in. Should that happen, it could force new elections in the fall.
Lapid is pushing for Yesh Atid member Mickey Levy to replace Levin and submitted 61 signatures to Levin, a majority number of the 120 member-Knesset needed to force a vote. However, Knesset member Nir Orbach from Bennett’s Yemina party withdrew his support, leaving Lapid one vote shy. (Read more)

The Hamas terrorist organization is calling for a Day of Rage in Judea and Samaria areas over the weekend, including demonstrations and violent clashes with Israeli forces as well as blocking roads and confrontations with Israeli citizens.
The Day of Rage is planned in protest of the “Jewish aggression in the Al-Aqsa Mosque” and to mark the 54th anniversary of the Six-Day War, which the Arabs mark as the Naksa Day (day of the setback) after failing to annihilate the Jewish State.

1. Amid New Calls for COVID Origin Probe, Lawmakers in US, Canada Scrutinize Use of Federal Resources in Wuhan Lab - The Epoch Times
Amid new calls for a transparent investigation into the origin of COVID-19, a parallel situation is unfolding in both Canada and the United States, where lawmakers are seeking clarity on how their federal resources provided to the Wuhan virology research facility were used.
In the United States, the controversy is around a US$3.7 million grant given by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to the New York-based EcoHealth Alliance for “understanding the risk of bat coronavirus emergence,” of which US$600,000 was channelled to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) over a period of five years.
In Canada, mystery surrounds the firing of 2018 Governor General’s Innovation Award winner scientist Xiangguo Qiu and her husband, Keding Cheng, from the National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) in Winnipeg, along with Qiu’s several trips to the WIV, the transfer of deadly viruses from the NML to the WIV, and the NML’s collaboration with Chinese military scientists.
The WIV is the only lab facility in China rated level 4, the highest level of biosafety, indicating that it’s equipped to handle the deadliest infectious viruses. Winnipeg’s NML is also the only level 4 lab in Canada.

In the final days of the Trump administration, the U.S. State Department issued a fact sheet saying that several WIV researchers became ill with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and common seasonal illnesses in autumn 2019, before the Chinese regime officially declared the first case of the illness.

5. Top Cybersecurity Official Warns of more Ransomware Attacks – Fox News
Top cybersecurity officials warned Wednesday that the U.S. can expect to see more ransomware attacks as the nation reels from recent hits on U.S interests, including meat supplies and fuel. Chris Butera, head of Threat Hunting for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), said ransomware has "continued to increase, especially in our state, local governments, as well as our critical instructor space."
The ransomware actors have become more brazen," he said during a virtual summit Wednesday. "They've started to exfiltrate data and try to extort payments."
"I do think we will continue to see that happen," Butera said, adding cybersecurity is a "primary priority" for the U.S. government. Butera said the government does not encourage companies to pay out ransoms on cyber-attacks but said the administration "understands" if private companies disagree. "The government does not advocate paying ransoms," Butera said. "But we do understand that it is a significant, difficult decision for some of these organizations when they are put under the gun to try to manage their business operations during these times." 6. White House unveils plan to donate 25 million vaccine doses abroad – The Hill
The Biden administration on Thursday announced it will donate 25 million coronavirus doses abroad, with most of them allocated to the World Health Organization's COVAX initiative.
In a fact sheet, the White House said it will donate about 19 million doses to COVAX; about 6 million directly to countries in need, including Mexico, Canada and South Korea; and for United Nations front-line workers.
"We are sharing these doses not to secure favors or extract concessions. We are sharing these vaccines to save lives and to lead the world in bringing an end to the pandemic, with the power of our example and with our values," President Biden said in a statement.
Pressure has been growing on the White House to develop a plan to donate its excess vaccines to countries that have been hit hard by the virus without the same access to vaccines as wealthier nations. The concern is that without vaccinations, new variants of the virus may arise in those countries that could threaten the rest of the world.
Thursday's announcement, which comes ahead of the Group of Seven Summit next week, stops short of the 80 million total doses promised by the administration last month. Instead, it focuses only on the 20 million authorized vaccine doses from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

8. Progressives Ramp up Pressure on Schumer to Nix Filibuster – The Hill
A coalition of progressive groups are upping the pressure on Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to nix the 60-vote legislative filibuster after Republicans were able to successfully block a bill using the procedure for the first time this year.
More than 100 groups sent a letter on Thursday to Schumer arguing that in the wake of GOP senators blocking a bill to create a commission to probe the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, "it is clearer than ever that the filibuster needs to be eliminated."
"We call on you and the Senate Democratic caucus to eliminate the filibuster as a weapon that Sen. McConnell can use to block efforts to defend and strengthen our democracy and make our government work for the American people," the groups added in the letter, which was spearheaded by Fix Our Senate.
The letter, which was first reported by NBC News, cites frustration from Democrats — including directly quoting Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who is opposed to changing the Senate's rules — over the GOP filibuster of the commission legislation, as well as pointing to a looming filibuster fight over voting rules. The month of May was Jewish American Heritage Month, which is supposed to recognize and celebrate the achievements of American Jews and their contributions to the United States. But this past month has instead seen a massive surge in antisemitic attacks, verbal abuse, and hate crimes, terrifying Jews across the US.
Jews from coast to coast have been targeted at synagogues, restaurants, and on the streets. Jews praying at a Borough Park synagogue on a recent Shabbat were afraid to leave, because thugs outside yelled “kill the Jews” and “free Palestine.” The Los Angeles Police Department is probing a hate crime in which Jews were attacked outside a sushi restaurant
The surge has, of course, been connected to Israel’s anti-Hamas Operation Guardian of the Walls against terror from the Gaza Strip. Other wars and military operations in the Middle East have led in the past to an upswing in hate against Jews in America.
Former Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), who famously defended Israel from the UN declaring Zionism is racism 25 years ago, also said anti-Zionism is antisemitism. But today, antisemites in America no longer need any excuses. Their hate has been legitimized by American celebrities like Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving, comedian John Oliver, and actor Mark Ruffalo, whose postings against Israel went viral. (Read more)

Many an eyebrow is raised when we in America see the government shut down churches because of COVID, or when homosexual activists and their government advocates try to restrict religious frees speech, or when big-tech conspires to censure religious expression. We say it’s persecution; the end of days is near. But there is actual persecution occurring around the world where much worse is thrust upon Christ followers—China raids houses, puts Christians in prison. Islamic countries hunt down Christians, torture them, rape them. These people are not wringing their hands about doctrinal issues. They are ambassadors of Christ, modern-day martyrs. In Africa, our ministry regularly faces these persecutors.
On May 21 in Nigeria, Fulani herdsmen killed a missionary, a pastor and his three-year old son. Two days later, the Fulani, part of the Boko Haram terrorist network, killed 22 Christians. According to Persecution International Christian Concern, “The Fulani Militia is the fourth deadliest terror group in the world and has surpassed Boko Haram as the greatest threat to Nigerian Christians.” The threat is not just to Nigerian believers. Today is the 32nd anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. For weeks, thousands of Chinese students had been protesting in Tiananmen Square demanding more freedom.
The communist regime had declared martial law in late May, and on the evening of June 3, 1989, Chinese soldiers began operations to end the demonstrations. As the Soviet Union was in the process of liberalizing, Beijing's dictators doubled down on their brutality. Hundreds or even thousands were slaughtered in Tiananmen Square.
Just as we will likely never know the full truth about what happened at the Wuhan lab, we will never know the full truth of what happened in Tiananmen Square.
I recall this history because it is a good reminder of what we are dealing with in communist China today. Sadly, I have no doubt that if tens of thousands of students rallied in Tiananmen Square for more freedom today the results would be the same.

Drought ravages California's reservoirs ahead of hot summer

OROVILLE, Calif. -- Each year Lake Oroville helps water a quarter of the nation’s crops, sustain endangered salmon beneath its massive earthen dam and anchor the tourism economy of a Northern California county that must rebuild seemingly every year after unrelenting wildfires.
But now the mighty lake — a linchpin in a system of aqueducts and reservoirs in the arid U.S. West that makes California possible — is shrinking with surprising speed amid a severe drought, with state officials predicting it will reach a record low later this summer.
While droughts are common in California, this year's is much hotter and drier than others, evaporating water more quickly from the reservoirs and the sparse Sierra Nevada snowpack that feeds them. The state's more than 1,500 reservoirs are 50% lower than they should be this time of year, according to Jay Lund, co-director of the Center for Watershed Sciences at the University of California-Davis.
Over Memorial Day weekend, dozens of houseboats sat on cinderblocks at Lake Oroville because there wasn't enough water to hold them. Blackened trees lined the reservoir's steep, parched banks.
In nearby Folsom Lake, normally bustling boat docks rested on dry land, their buoys warning phantom boats to slow down. Campers occupied dusty riverbanks farther north at Shasta Lake. Read More

'By the Grace of God': Brave 7-year-old Swims an Hour against River Current to Bring Rescue for Sister and Father

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville family is grateful to be alive this Memorial Day weekend, and the dad says it’s all because of his 7-year-old son. The brave youngster outswam a current that separated him from his father and 4-year-old sister in the St. Johns River near Mandarin Point on Friday. Steven Poust said he anchored his boat in the water while he fished and his kids swam around.
Chase, 7, said while they were in the water, his sister, Abigail, let go of the boat because of a strong current, so he let go and they were both stuck. “I felt really scared,” Chase said. Chase didn’t have a life jacket on, but his sister did. She floated along with the current as their father jumped in the water trying to grab her while Chase tried to swim to shore.
“I told them I loved him because I wasn’t sure what’s going to happen,” Poust said. “I tried to stick with both of them. I wore myself out. She drifted away from me.”
But Chase kept swimming to shore. He said he would doggie paddle, then float on his back to make sure he wouldn’t tire himself out. “The current was going the opposite way of going to the boat and the shore so it was very hard to swim that way,” Chase said.
He made it to shore after an hour while his dad and sister were stuck in the water for an hour longer before being rescued by Jacksonville firefighters -- more than a mile away from the boat. Chase said once he reached shore, he ran to the nearest home to knock for help.
“I screamed for help at the top of my lungs and waved my arms and sure enough someone heard us,” Poust said. “Little man also made it to shore and got help and that’s what saved our lives.” (Breaking Christian News and News4JAX) Read more here.
