Supreme Court upholds Arizona voter fraud protections
|
|
The Supreme Court upheld Arizona voting rules that restrict ballot harvesting and the submission of provisional ballots outside of one’s home precinct, following a challenge from the Democratic National Committee.
In a 6-3 decision on Tuesday, the court ruled that neither the policy requiring provisional ballots to be completely disregarded if submitted at the wrong precinct nor the law making it a felony to submit another person’s ballot (with limited exceptions) violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The decision overturned a ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
"[N]either Arizona’s out-of-precinct rule nor its ballot-collection law violates §2 of the VRA," Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the court’s opinion, in which he was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Supreme Court says California rule requiring nonprofits to reveal donor names is unconstitutional
|
|
The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a California law requiring nonprofits to reveal the names of their major donors to the government is "facially unconstitutional."
The 6-3 ruling came on the final day of a term that has seen the justices take a noticeably unified approach to a number of hot-button issues. But on the final day of the term, the court issued two rulings divided along ideological lines. Chief Justice John Roberts was joined by the five other Republican-appointed justices in siding with the conservative nonprofit groups that challenged the California law.
"We do not doubt that California has an important interest in preventing wrongdoing by charitable organizations," Roberts wrote in the leading opinion. "There is a dramatic mismatch, however, between the interest that the Attorney General seeks to promote and the disclosure regime that he has implemented in service of that end." 1. At UN, Rivlin issues plea to Palestinians: ‘It’s our role to end conflict’ - Times of Israel
ABU DHABI — Foreign Minister Yair Lapid arrives in the United Arab Emirates on the first official visit by an Israeli minister after the two nations signed a normalization deal last year.
He is greeted on the tarmac by UAE Minister of State Ahmed Al Sayegh before they head into the terminal to escape the scorching heat.
Israeli ministers have made visits to the UAE in the past, but Lapid is the first to make the trip since the signing of the Abraham Accords, an honor that former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly coveted for himself. (Read more)

2. National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat to step down - Israel National News
National Security Adviser and head of the National Security Council (NSC) Meir Ben-Shabbat informed Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Wednesday evening of his desire to step down after having served in the position for four years.
Upon the formation of the government, NSC head Ben-Shabbat acceded to Prime Minister Bennett's request to stay on in order to facilitate the maintenance of stability and functional continuity. NSC head Ben-Shabbat assisted the government and its team as they assumed office.
NSC head Ben-Shabbat will stay on until the end of August 2021. The Prime Minister will appoint a replacement to the position of head of the National Security Council in the near future, while providing for an orderly transition with the outgoing head of the NSC. (Read more)

3. Gantz, Bennett, Sign Evyatar Outpost Deal, New Jewish Community Saved - Jewish Press
A compromise deal on the outpost Evyatar was signed Wednesday night, despite detracting voices on the left and the right.
The left hates the new deal because it starts a slippery slope where the fate of an outpost will be based not on whether or not it was designed by a governmental committee, subject to years of construction freeze for political reasons, but simply on a survey to determine whether there are Arab claims on the land. If there aren’t, then the land can become the property of the state and a new Jewish town can be legalized.
The right did not—still doesn’t—trust the deal because in Israel’s settlement history those deals were made to be broken, most notably with right-wing governments. So on the right, this comes down to a referendum on Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s integrity. (Read more)

4. Netanyahu Calls On Government to Begin Issuing 3rd Vaccine Doses- Israel National News
Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu today (Thursday) addressed Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and called for an expanded vaccination drive against the coronavirus.
In his letter to Minister Horowitz, Netanyahu wrote: "By working together with the Ministry of Health, we have succeeded in getting Israel out of the corona plague - the first in the world. We did this thanks to the millions of vaccines we brought first, thanks to the excellent work of the health authorities and thanks to the great response of the citizens of Israel to receiving the vaccines."
''As is known, within 9 months from the date of the second vaccine supply we are supposed to receive the third vaccine supply. From conversations I had with some of the best experts in the world, I believe that the third vaccine should be given to the adult population (50 and over) in early August in order to complete the task by the end of September, and if possible before the start of the school year. 5. Israel bombs Hamas weapons factory in Gaza after wave of arson balloons - Times of Israel
Israeli warplanes bombed a Hamas weapons factory in the Gaza Strip after midnight Thursday in response to a fresh wave of arson balloon attacks launched at Israel from the coastal enclave, , the Israel Defense Forces said.
The army said the site was used by the terror organization to develop and build weapons.
“The strike was carried out in response to the arson balloon attacks on Israeli territory. The IDF will respond with determination against all terror attempts from the Gaza Strip,” the army said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Earlier Thursday incendiary balloons launched from Gaza sparked four fires near Israeli towns along the southern border, breaking more than two weeks of quiet since the last wave of attempted arson attacks. (Read more)

1. Democrats renew court packing calls, blast the Supreme Court's final two decisions of term - Fox News
Democrats on Thursday expressed their displeasure with the Supreme Court's final decisions of its 2020-2021 term, accusing the justices of doing "severe damage" to the political system and in some cases re-upping their calls to pack the court with liberal justices appointed by President Biden.
One decision was on a challenge to Arizona election laws, including a ban on ballot harvesting. The other was about a California law that required nonprofits to disclose their largest donors to the state government for law enforcement purposes.
The court upheld the Arizona laws – which liberals saw as voting rights restrictions and conservatives saw as election security measures – and struck down the California law on the grounds that it chilled free speech.
Biden weighed in on the Arizona decision in a statement that was remarkably critical of the Supreme Court for a sitting president. "I am deeply disappointed in today’s decision by the United States Supreme Court that undercuts the Voting Rights Act," Biden said. "In a span of just eight years, the Court has now done severe damage to two of the most important provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 – a law that took years of struggle and strife to secure." 2. The Pacific is Crowded with Unprecedented Number of War Games – Zerohedge
Each week the Pacific is getting even more crowded with military ships, submarines and aircraft from countries in the region and from outside. NATO countries — United Kingdom, France, Germany and the Netherlands — are sending military vessels and aircraft. The Russian navy conducted military maneuvers off Hawaii. The US is on the verge of creating a permanent Pacific naval task force as a part of its aggressive response to China’s naval presence in the Pacific. The largest land exercise in Asia and the Pacific is taking place in Australia with 17,000 U.S. and Australian military.
In March, President Joe Biden directed the Pentagon to establish a China Task Force to examine China-related policies and processes and give its recommendations to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. The creation of a Pacific Naval Task Force would allow the secretary of defense to provide more of the Pentagon’s budget for challenging China’s presence in the Pacific. The Pacific task force would also include NATO allies such as Britain and France, that have already sent their warships into the Pacific, as well as Japan and Australia. (Read more)

3. China Has Never Regarded US as Friend in Past 70 years: Retired CCP Professor – The Epoch Times
The Chinese Communist Party regards the United States as an enemy and utilizes American’s kindness to grab resources and develop itself, according to a veteran ideology professor for the party’s Central Party School. “The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) teaches the people to hate the United States … has consistently, from 1949 to this day, promoted anti-American sentiment,” CCP insider and retired professor Cai Xia wrote in an article published by the Hoover Institution on June 29 (pdf). “The words I have been most familiar with since kindergarten and primary school are phrases such as ‘stop the American imperialist wolves,’” she said of her experience growing up in communist China.
Perceiving the United States as its enemy, the CCP regime uses any method it can to benefit from America. Believing “there can never be too much deception in war,” Cai wrote, “the CCP took advantage of opportunities for economic and cultural exchanges to sneakily acquire economic, commercial, technological, political, and military intelligence. In particular, the theft of high-tech research results is not only carried out in foreign companies within China but also by Chinese students and scholars who go abroad and may be required to ‘cooperate’ with certain agencies to filch various information.” (Read more)

4. Trump Organization, CFO Weisselberg plead not guilty to tax charges - Fox News
The Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, pleaded not guilty in a Manhattan court after being charged with fraud and tax crimes Thursday.
The longtime CFO pleaded not guilty to grand larceny, which in the state of New York is the unlawful taking of funds or property valued at $50,000 or more and is punishable for up to 15 years in prison.
The former president’s family business also pleaded not guilty to tax-related crimes, which included a scheme to defraud.
The Trump Organization accused the district attorney's office of running a politically motivated investigation rather than focusing on security concerns across the city.
"The District Attorney will try to convince the public that these charges are of
great significance," a spokesman for the organization said in a statement. "However, everyday New Yorkers and Americans know exactly what this is: an inappropriate use of a local prosecutor’s vast and unchecked power to target a political opponent."
Trump Organization attorney Ron Fischetti called it a "sad day" and claimed the only reason the district attorney pursued the white collar case was because of the former president. (Read more)

5. Arizona Election Audit Moves out of Coliseum, Ballots Held in New Building Under 24/7 Security: Official - The Epoch Times
After more than two months, the audit of Arizona’s Maricopa County moved out of the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, according to one of the state Senate’s audit liaisons. Randy Pullen, one of the Senate’s audit liaisons, told reporters that the audit process will persist inside another building at the fairgrounds. The audit team has to vacate the coliseum due to a lease agreement, he said, adding that 2.1 million ballots and voting equipment will be moved to the Wesley Bolin Building on Thursday morning.
The voting machines, ballots, and other materials will be protected around the clock by three security guards, Pullen said. Surveillance cameras will also provide livestream from inside the Wesley Bolin Building for security reasons, he added. (Read more)

6. International Scientists Call for New Inquiry into COVID 19 Origin – The Epoch Times
A group of internationally renowned scientists have issued another open letter calling for a new thorough inquiry into the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic by an international investigation team. The letter also provided solutions to the possible scenario that Chinese communist regime won’t cooperate with such investigation.

8. Mortality Rate from Delta Variant Eight Times Higher in “Fuller Vaccinated” Individuals – Bridge Connector Ministries
The latest claim is that the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “Delta” variant is “spreading like wildfire,” and the most affected by it are those who were already injected with “vaccines.”
According to the latest data, people who took a Wuhan Flu shot or two are up to eight times more likely to test “positive” or have to be hospitalized.
A preliminary statistical analysis found that hospitalization rates and absolute mortality due to the Delta variant are substantially higher among the “vaccinated” compared to the unvaccinated. The figures show that among patients who test positive for the Delta variant, the mortality rate for those who are “fully vaccinated,” meaning they received both doses of an mRNA injection, is nearly eight times higher.
This corresponds to similar research from Public Health England which determined that vaccinated people are 600 percent more likely to die from Delta than unvaccinated people.
In England, it is now clearly seen in the data that those who have been injected are responsible for the spread of Delta. And the more people that get vaccinated, the more Delta is spreading. (Read more)

9. Covid-19 Vaccines Could be Spurring Variants, Say Israeli and European Experts - The Epoch Times
In January, an Israeli Defence Forces Intelligence report (pdf) warned that Israel’s mass vaccination program could create an Israeli mutation that proved resistant to COVID-19 vaccines. Prepared for Coronavirus National Information and Knowledge Center, the report stated that “The mass vaccine campaign taking place parallel to the active outbreak in Israel may lead to ‘evolutionary pressure’ on the virus.”
In May, the Pasteur Institute’s Luc Montagnier, the virologist whose discovery of HIV won him a Nobel Prize in 2008, warned that COVID-19 vaccines are spurring deadlier variants. “I am doing experiments at the Institute with patients who became sick with Corona after being vaccinated. 11. Biden Reveals “Catch up” Plan to Curtail US Wildfires – The Epoch Times
President Joe Biden shared his administration’s plan to deal with the intensifying wildfires in the Western U.S. at a White House Meeting on Wednesday with western state governors, calling the fires a problem that affects everyone.
Biden told the governors he had been briefed twice about the current wildfire readiness of federal and state agencies and said there is a lot to be done.
“We know this is becoming a regular cycle and we know it’s getting worse,” Biden added. “The truth is, we’re playing catch-up. This is an area that’s been under-resourced, but that’s going to change if we have anything to do with it.”
“Wildfires are not a partisan phenomenon. They don’t stop at a county or state line or country mind for that matter. We need a coordinated, comprehensive response,” said Biden. (Read more)

12. Biden Slams Bills Protecting Children, Female Athletes from Transgender Ideology – Lifesite News
State legislators drafting and passing bills are responding to widespread concern that allowing transgender athletes to compete against girls would increase risk of injury to girls and strip deserving females of opportunities for accolades and scholarships.
Joe Biden has signaled his opposition to state laws protecting women and children from transgender ideology. The president tweeted Friday, “So far this year, hundreds of anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced in state legislatures – many of them target transgender children. Let's be clear: This is bullying against kids disguised as legislation – and it must stop. Enough is enough.”
Biden could possibly be referring to “hundreds” of bills introduced in over 30 states protecting girls' sports from male intrusion. Many state legislators took swift action after Biden’s first action as president was to sign an executive order targeting Title IX, asserting that “[a]ll persons should receive equal treatment under the law without regard to their gender identity or sexual orientation.” It also stated that, “children should be able to learn without worrying about whether they will be denied access to the restroom, locker room, or school sports.” (Read more)

13. State Department Says Passports Can Include Any Gender - Washington Free Beacon
The State Department announced on Wednesday that it will allow passport applicants to choose any sex they prefer, even without medical documentation and if the gender selected does not match an individual's other forms of identification.
"U.S. passport applicants will now be able to select the gender they would like printed on their U.S. passports, even if the gender they select does not match the gender on their supporting documentation such as a birth certificate, previous passport, or state ID," the State Department informed Congress on Tuesday night, before publicly announcing the policy change Wednesday. "The Department of State will no longer require medical certification to change the gender marker on U.S. passports."
The State Department says it is now in the process of updating its computer systems to allow Americans to have their passports include a gender marker "for non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming persons," according to the congressional notification.
The State Department has updated its online passport portal to reflect the shift in policy. (Read more)

14. Attorney General Garland pauses federal executions - Fox News
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday issued a memorandum that imposes a moratorium on federal executions. "The Department of Justice must ensure that everyone in the federal criminal justice system is not only afforded the rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States, but is also treated fairly and humanely," Garland said in a statement. "That obligation has special force in capital cases."
Executions will be put on hold while a review of the Justice Department’s policies and procedures takes place.
Garland wrote in a memo on Thursday that "serious concerns" had been raised about the continued use of the death penalty, including arbitrariness in application, disparate effects on people of color and a "troubling" number of exonerations in capital cases. The review will assess the risk of pain and suffering associated with pentobarbital, permissible methods of executions beyond injections and the capital case provisions.
In 2020 the federal government carried out 10 executions, which is more than all U.S. states combined, according to a report from the Death Penalty Information Center. Altogether there were 13 federal executions carried out during the final months of the former administration. (Read more)

Biden's War On Children

The month of June was spent celebrating lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, queers, questioning and other nontraditional sexual orientations. White House Press Secretary Jan Psaki capped off the month-long celebration with a live stream on the White House Youtube on transgender equality. The hour and a half “convening” began with Psaki saying that President Biden believes that transgender rights are one of the most important civil rights movements of our lifetime. They primarily target children. The last letter in LGBTQ is “Q” for “questioning,” which is the mission—to confuse kids enough that they question their sexuality so they can be groomed and evangelized.
LGBTQ Nation’s website says the live stream is convened to “highlight the hopes, joys, and success of young transgender and nonbinary people across America.” Key word here is “young.” This is the target—young, meaning youth. Meaning minor children. Meaning your child or grandchild. LGBTQ+ activists are in the public schools with various anti-bullying programs and other social activities to evangelize minor children and groom them for sexual purposes. The Psaki live stream featured many speakers, including high school students. One of the speakers asked a rising junior in high school how she got enough courage to “go in front of the whole country and tell your story.” My point–If this was so positive and good, why would you need courage to talk about it? Scientists Find ‘Monster’ Black Hole So Big
They Didn’t Think it Was Possible

Scientists did not think it was possible for a stellar black hole, one that forms from a dying star, to be as large as the “monster” it discovered in our own galaxy.
Until recently, scientists did not think it was possible for a stellar black hole to have a mass larger than 20 times that of the sun, an approximation based on their understanding of the way stars evolve and die in the Milky Way.
But that assumption was metaphorically crushed in the gravity of a “monster” black hole that a group of Chinese-led international scientists discovered inside our own galaxy. The hole has a mass 70 times that of the sun, researchers said in their late-2019 study published in the journal Nature.
“No one has ever seen a 70-solar-mass stellar black hole anywhere,” Joel Bregman, one of the study authors and a professor of astronomy at the University of Michigan, said in an interview. “This is the first.” Read More

Churches plan fun, food, fireworks with Independence Day falling on Sunday

Georgia Baptist churches are taking advantage of the relatively rare occurrence of Independence Day falling on a Sunday to celebrate with cookouts, block parties, festivals, food trucks and fireworks in hopes that the celebrations will bring in people who may not otherwise show up for church
It has been 11 years since Independence Day fell on Sunday, and it won’t happen again until 2027.
For Pastor Tommy Fountain Sr., it was an easy call for him and his congregation at 1025 Church in Monroe, Ga., to work the celebration of America’s independence into the Sunday worship service. After morning worship, they’re firing up the grills for a cookout heavy on hotdogs and hamburgers, which are, after all, American traditional favorites.
“We know families will be traveling and celebrating out of town and on the lake,” Fountain said. “Yet, we want to celebrate our freedom in Christ and our freedom as citizens in our nation on July Fourth.
