"My grandmother was very generous and educated," Daria Ortiz said. "She's a shining example of when people come legally to this country, work hard, and do the right thing and are law-abiding citizens."
Maria Fuertes, Ortiz's grandmother, was raped and murdered last month in Queens, New York. She was 92.
Police charged illegal immigrant and alleged repeat criminal offender Reeaz Khan with Maria's murder. Khan, from Guyana, had been arrested previously for assault. New York City released him from jail despite a detainer request from U.S. immigration officials.
Across the country, left-wing politicians use these so-called "sanctuary" policies to put dangerous, often violent criminals back on our streets. After all, "sanctuary cities" have nothing to do with protecting law-abiding immigrants: Their purpose is to stop the United States from deporting illegal aliens with criminal charges and convictions.
"The man that is responsible for this should have never had the opportunity to do this, had his multiple offenses not been ignored," Ortiz said of her grandmother's killer. "The system not only failed our family, but it failed our city."
Ortiz joined President Trump at a White House event Friday to honor heroes from the U.S. Border Patrol. She thanked the Administration for acknowledging her family's tragedy while so many others ignore the human cost of sanctuary cities.
"Not one more American life should be stolen by sanctuary cities," President Trump told her. "That's why we're calling on Congress to pass legislation giving American victims the right to sue sanctuary cities and hold them accountable for the suffering and the damages that they've caused."

1. Airstrikes destroy IRGC Quds Force HQ, warehouse at Damascus airport - Jerusalem Post
ImageSat International (ISI) reported on Monday evening that heavy damage was inflicted upon Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) sites at Damascus International Airport on February 13. Airstrikes appear to have hit warehouses, a shelter, headquarters and infrastructure.
The airstrikes were reported in regional media, such as Turkey's Anadolu. Reports indicated that seven people were killed, including four Iranian officers. The Anadolu report claimed the attack occurred after a cargo plane had landed. Syrian regime media blamed Israel and said that Syrian defenses had intercepted "hostile targets."
In addition, a hangar was damaged in the attack, which Syria blamed on Israel. ImageSat said the shelter was "probably used for storing ammunition or [surface-to-air missiles]."

2. Tehran, Other Iranian Cities In The Cold And Dark On Suspect Power Outages - OilPrice.com
Businesses and homes alike in the Iranian city of Tehran-along with several other cities-are in the dark-and in the cold--on Monday, the spokesman for the Iran Electrical Power Industry, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, said on Monday while the country runs short of natural gas, according to RadioFarda. The cause of the blackouts are unknown and have led to speculation.
When power cuts make the rounds in Iran, it's not often that it happens during the cold winter months. Tehran, too, is rarely included in power cuts or blackouts when they happen, because of security reasons. But Tehran is not exempt this time around.
The emergency power cuts, which were not announced ahead of time, will be for two hours per day and will be carried out in the big cities, unless domestic gas use is cut by 10%.

3. EU will respond to Trump plan after Israeli election- Israel National News
The European Union will not pass any official resolutions on US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Israel and the Palestinian Arabs until "after Israeli elections," the EU's foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said on Monday.
"We had an exchange of views about the Middle East peace process following the presentation of the US proposal," Borrell stated after a meeting of the organization's foreign ministers in Brussels, according to Haaretz. "We briefly discussed how best to relaunch a political process that is acceptable to both parties and how best to defend the internationally agreed parameters, equal rights and international law," he added.
Borell said that several foreign ministers had requested the issue to be added on the agenda of their March meeting "with a specific discussion and some resolutions." "We'll do it. After Israeli elections," he stated.

4. From Atop Temple Mount: Hamas Calls on Muslims Worldwide to Assassinate Trump - Breaking Israel News
As Muslim worshippers left Al Aqsa Mosque on Friday, they were greeted by a group of masked, black-clad men wearing the distinctive green headbands identifying them as members of the Hamas terrorist organization.
The Hamas members hung a poster in front of the Dome of the Rock showing a Hamas terrorist armed with a Kalashnikov rifle pointed at images of President Trump, Egyptian President Abdel el-Sisi, and Saudi Prince Mohammad Bib Salman. The faces of the leaders were masked by bright red 'x's.
Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a senior lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University, explained that the message was unmistakable.
"They have already threatened these leaders and it is not just words. They are serious and they are capable of carrying it out. Hamas is the Palestinian wing of the Muslim Brotherhood."

5. Saudi-Israeli relations to expand only after peace plan, FM says - Jerusalem Post
Upgrading relations with Israel will occur only when a peace agreement is signed and is in accordance with Palestinian conditions," Saudi Arabia's new foreign minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud noted on Saturday at the Munich Security Conference in response to a question from Maariv about Israel-Saudi relations. The Jerusalem Post's sister publication also asked whether improvements to the relationship would include a non-aggression pact as well as open and formal relations with the Arab Gulf states.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif complained at the conference that any violent action in the Middle East is now being blamed on Iran. He provided the example of how US President Donald Trump's peace plan has lead to an increase in tensions and alleged violence against Israel and in the region, which he notes will be likely blamed on Tehran.

Hajj Qasem, as Qasem Soleimani is fondly remembered by his friends from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, came into his role at a unique time. In an interview with Iranian media, a former Iranian defense minister recalled the life of Soleimani.
It is 40 days since he was killed in a US airstrike, and Iranian pro-government media is full of stories about his life. They emphasize how he helped the Kurdish region in Iraq against ISIS in 2014 and how he conducted himself across the Middle East. Hossein Dehghan's memories shed light on Soleimani's role in Syria and with the Russians.

7. Rare 'smiting gods' among artifacts found at 12th century BCE Canaanite temple - Times of Israel
A pair of smiting gods and other rare ritual artifacts are among the fascinating discoveries described in a recently published comprehensive report of the 2013-2017 excavations of the archaeology-rich Lachish site. The report digs deep into 12th century BCE Canaanite worship practices, from the modest temple structure, to ritual items discovered inside.
"This excavation has been breathtaking," said lead archaeologist Professor Yosef Garfinkel at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Institute of Archaeology in a press release on Monday. The excavation report, "The Level VI North-East Temple at Tel Lachish," was recently published in the academic journal Levant: The Journal of the Council for British Research in the Levant.
"Only once every 30 or 40 years do we get the chance to excavate a Canaanite temple in Israel. What we found sheds new light on ancient life in the region. It would be hard to overstate the importance of these findings," said Garfinkel, who led the excavation along with Professor Michael Hasel of Southern Adventist University in Tennessee.

8. Netanyahu corruption trial set to open on March 17, two weeks after election- Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's corruption trial will open just two weeks after Israelis are set to go to the polls for the third time in a year.
The Justice Ministry announces that the trial will open on March 17 at 3 p.m.
On January 28, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit filed indictments against Netanyahu with the Jerusalem District Court. It marked the first time in Israel's history that a serving prime minister will face criminal charges.
According to the text of the indictments released by the Justice Ministry in November, Netanyahu is charged with fraud and breach of trust in Cases 1000 and 2000, and bribery, fraud and breach of trust in Case 4000.

9. Israel nearly assassinated top Hamas leaders, prevented by Egyptian delegation, says report - World Israel News
srael nearly carried out a targeted killing against the current leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar, and another senior military figure in the terrorist high command, London-based Arabic news outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadid reported on Tuesday.
The Israelis were convinced to refrain from carrying out the attack by an Egyptian delegation that visited Israel last week, the news outlet reports.
Along with Sinwar, the other target was to be Mohammed Deif, commander of Hamas' Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hamas last Tuesday that Israel was "preparing" an attack on the terror group that would be "the surprise of their lives if they don't come to their senses" and stop the launching of booby-trapped balloons from the Gaza Strip.

1. Trump campaign fires back after Obama claims credit for economic boom - Fox News
The Trump campaign fired back Monday after former President Barack Obama, in a subtle swipe at President Trump, claimed credit for the economic gains in both their terms.
Obama tweeted Monday morning to note the anniversary of his signing the 2009 economic stimulus package. "Eleven years ago today, near the bottom of the worst recession in generations, I signed the Recovery Act, paving the way for more than a decade of economic growth and the longest streak of job creation in American history," Obama tweeted, alongside a photo of his signature on the bill.
But the Trump campaign, in a statement to Fox News, countered that the economy is only recovering because of the actions Trump took to undo his predecessor's policies.
"President Trump reversed every single failed Obama-era economic policy, and with it, reversed the floundering Obama/Biden economy," Trump campaign national press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said. "Obama and Biden orchestrated the worst economic recovery in modern history."

2. Trump administration to deploy 'tactical units' to 'sanctuary cities' - JPost/Reuters
The Trump administration is deploying highly trained officers to boost arrests of unauthorized immigrants in cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, the latest move in a battle against localities that adopt "sanctuary" policies to protect them from deportation. Members of the US Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Border Patrol Tactical Unit will be among the officers deployed to cities to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. They will also be sent to San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit and Newark, New Jersey, CBP spokesman Lawrence Payne said in a statement.
The special CBP unit's members undergo a "grueling" training program designed to "mirror aspects" of US Special Operation Forces courses, according to details about the program published on the CBP website. The unit was launched in 1984 in response to rioting at immigration detention facilities.
Scores of Democrat-controlled cities and counties have adopted policies to limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, making them a target for Republican President Donald Trump. (Read more)

3. White House trade adviser Peter Navarro is after 'Anonymous' - Washington Examiner
Peter Navarro is hunting for the mysterious Trump administration official behind the anonymous tell-all book and critical New York Times opinion piece about the White House.
The White House trade adviser initiated his own unofficial investigation to root out "Anonymous" alongside several others, according to the Daily Beast. White House counsel Pat Cipollone is leading the administration's official investigation to comb through the ranks of officials to identify the author. A group of National Security Council staffers is also conducting a search.
Navarro has compiled writing samples from a number of officials in the administration and had the samples compared to Anonymous's column and book, focusing on how the author constructs sentences and uses certain phrases. Sources familiar with Navarro's investigation said he has identified one suspect and delivered his findings in a report given to Cipollone. (Read more)

Dershowitz: 'Obama personally asked the FBI to investigate somebody on behalf of George Soros' - Fox News Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said Sunday he has proof that former President Barack Obama "personally asked" the FBI to investigate someone "on behalf of George Soros," the liberal billionaire megadonor.
"There was a lot of White House control of the Justice Department during the Kennedy administration and I don't think we saw very many liberal professors arguing against that," Dershowitz said in an interview with Breitbart News that aired Sunday on SiriusXM. "I have some information as well about the Obama administration - which will be disclosed in a lawsuit at some point, but I'm not prepared to disclose it now - about how President Obama personally asked the FBI to investigate somebody on behalf of George Soros, who was a close ally of his." He did not say specifically who the target might have been.
Dershowitz added: "We've seen this kind of White House influence on the Justice Department virtually in every Justice Department. The difference: This president is much more overt about it, he tweets about it. President Obama whispered to the Justice Department about it. 5. Ex-DOJ Official Named In FISA Abuse Report Signs Petition Calling On William Barr To Resign - The Daily Caller
A former Justice Department official who is discussed throughout the inspector general's report on FISA abuse added his name Monday to a petition calling on William Barr to resign as attorney general. David Laufman, who served as chief of the Justice Department's counterintelligence and export control section through 2018, said Monday that he joined more than 2,000 former Justice Department employees who signed the petition, which was started by the anti-Trump activist group, Protect Democracy. The petition blasted Barr intervening in federal prosecutors' recommendation that the Trump confidante serve between 87 months and 108 months in prison for obstructing a congressional investigation and witness tampering. 6. Federal judges' association calls emergency meeting after DOJ intervenes in case of Trump ally Roger Stone - USA Today
A national association of federal judges has called an emergency meeting Tuesday to address growing concerns about the intervention of Justice Department officials and President Donald Trump in politically sensitive cases, the group's president said Monday.
Philadelphia U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe, who heads the independent Federal Judges Association, said the group "could not wait" until its spring conference to weigh in on a deepening crisis that has enveloped the Justice Department and Attorney General William Barr.
"There are plenty of issues that we are concerned about," Rufe told USA TODAY. "We'll talk all of this through." Rufe, nominated to the bench by President George W. Bush, said the group of more than 1,000 federal jurists called for the meeting last week after Trump criticized prosecutors' initial sentencing recommendation for his friend Roger Stone and the Department of Justice overruled them. 7. Judge refuses to delay Stone sentencing - The Hill
A federal judge on Tuesday refused to delay Roger Stone's sentencing amid the fallout over the Trump administration's decision to intervene in the case against the president's longtime ally.
The sentencing will move forward on Thursday at its originally scheduled time, the judge said, despite a new effort from Stone's defense team to get a new trial. "I think that delaying this sentence would not be a prudent thing to do under all of the circumstances," U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee, said during a telephone conference with the two sides. We pray in the Spirit over his case, asking only that justice be done on behalf of President Trump's loyal friend and longtime supporter, Roger Stone.

8. Trump commutes sentence of ex-Gov. Blagojevich, pardons Kerik - Fox News
President Trump issued a spree of clemency decisions Tuesday for high-profile figures -- most notably commuting the sentence of former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who was convicted for attempting to sell Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat when he was elected president.
Trump confirmed to reporters that he's granted clemency for the ex-governor, calling his sentence "ridiculous. He'll be able to go back home with his family after serving eight years in jail," Trump said.
Trump also said he's granted clemency to financier Michael Milken, who pleaded guilty for violating U.S. securities laws.
Further, Trump confirmed he has pardoned former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who was sentenced on tax fraud charges in 2010. It comes on the same day the White House announced Trump was granting a full pardon to former San Francisco 49ers owner Edward DeBartolo Jr., who was convicted of failing to report a bribe to the former governor of Louisiana when he pleaded guilty in 1998.

9. Senate Democrat Murphy acknowledges meeting with Iran's foreign minister- Fox News
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., confirmed on Tuesday that he met with Iran's foreign minister, arguing that "it's dangerous not to talk to adversaries."
The two met at the Munich Security conference amid tough rhetoric between President Trump and Iran's leadership. Murphy claimed he told Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that Congress is also responsible for setting U.S. foreign policy.
Murphy's tweets confirmed an earlier report that Murphy and other Democratic senators held a secret meeting with Zarif. It's unclear which other senators were involved. "But if Trump isn't going to talk to Iran, then someone should. And Congress is a co-equal branch of government, responsible along with the Executive for setting foreign policy. A lack of dialogue leaves nations guessing about their enemy's intentions, and guessing wrong can lead to catastrophic mistakes." (Read more)

10. California officials warn against coronavirus-related hate crimes - Fox News
Los Angeles leaders warned of bigotry against the Asian community on Thursday after several incidents of bullying and orchestrated hoaxes over the novel coronavirus were reported in the area.
More than 64,000 people have been sickened by the COVID-19 virus and over 1,300 people have died, mostly in mainland China. Los Angeles has only one confirmed case.
"We're not going to stand for hate," Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis told reporters at a news conference.
Fears over the virus have resulted in hoaxes and hostilities against the region's Asian community, the largest in the United States. (Read more)

The heart of human trafficking-Part II
The US State Department's yearly report on human trafficking identifies the problems and even has some stories to put a human face on this horror of horrors. But like so many things, the State Department really doesn't call it like it is. There is a massive organized crime network trafficking in human beings and if Islam is not at the core of it, it is a major player. In my opinion, this crime against humanity is not exposed and eradicated because so many powerful people, politicians and business leaders are totally immersed in human trafficking. And it boils down to little villages around the world like the one's in Ghana, where the impact and the journey of horror for so many begins. Pastor William Agbeti describes it.
"The entire Islamic Kafala system is made possible by networks of well-organized agents, organizations, companies and criminal gangs with deep pockets and long arms with universal reach. The suppliers of girls for the Kafala system are ruthless and operate everywhere, even on university campuses especially in Nigeria. In exception of a few countries that had some activists campaigning against the system, the larger Arab-sphere has in-country political systems that actually turn blind eyes to the atrocities committed by the proponents of Kafala. Not a single Government in those countries would seriously prosecute perpetrators of Kafala who enslave, kill, maim and exploit poor female migrants. This is because it is entrenched in their social fabric and has become a largely accepted Islamic practice and system.
"Hundreds of Ghanaian girls, and others from neighboring countries, as well as places like the Philippines are spirited away regularly to feed Kafala. These end up in homes and workplaces where they are totally dehumanized, prevented from going anywhere, and virtually become slaves owned by wealthy individuals. In many cases, the girls are imprisoned in homes behind lock and key and raped repeatedly by the children and visitors of their "owners"! At the time of writing this Daily Jot, a leading social media news outlet has reported two missing girls from a Ghanaian neighborhood. The outlet has published photos of the girls (very beautiful, slim and young). We know some parents are weeping right now.
"We also know the Government of Ghana, like many other Governments in both the under-developed and developed worlds, are not taking up any arms against the practice. Already, as a country, tens and maybe hundreds of girls have gone missing and still go missing on weekly basis from many homes. Meanwhile, some wealthy Arab maniacs (or possibly European or American rich-men) somewhere are eagerly waiting for the recently missing two girls from Ghana to surface in their homes." These Islamist agents of human traffickers are scouting Christian churches in Ghana to find their prey, especially in rural areas. This is what we are up against. Psalm 127:3 says that "Children are a heritage of the Lord." You see what God's enemies have in store for the Lord's heritage. Please consider them in your heart, prayers and support.

3. Director of major hospital in China dies from coronavirus; infected total passes 73K - Fox News
The head of a major hospital in China died from the coronavirus on Tuesday morning, as 1,886 new cases were reported in the country, according to multiple reports.
Liu Zhiming was the director of Wuhan Wuchang Hospital located in the epicenter of the virus outbreak, according to Reuters. Zhiming, who had been on life support, was initially reported to have died earlier in the week before that claim was retracted.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak a global emergency as it spreads to countries outside of China and the number of infected patients continues to grow.
Countries around the globe have increased travel restrictions to the infected mainland China and Hubei province - with the U.S. State Department increasing its advisory to level 4: "Do Not Travel."

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif./GENEVA (Reuters) - More than 300 American cruise liner passengers, including 14 who tested positive for coronavirus, were flown home to military bases in the United States after two weeks under quarantine off Japan.
The cruise ship Diamond Princess, which with more than 400 cases has by far the largest cluster outside China, has become the biggest test so far of other countries' ability to contain an outbreak that has killed 1,772 people in China and five elsewhere.
A ground crew in anti-contamination suits met the chartered jet that touched down at Joint Base San Antonio in Texas, and passengers could be seen climbing down the stairs wearing face masks in the pre-dawn mist. Another flight landed at Travis Air Force Base in California hours earlier.

Please see this short and agonizing video from China with this woman's desperate cry for help in the midst of the spreading Coronavirus epidemic as it takes its deadly toll on the world's most populous nation. Unfortunately, it confirms what we are being told through news outlets-- that the communist government there since the onset of the disease has suppressed the news and shut down journalists and doctors' warnings, so that it was able to infect much larger numbers of people than originally reported and be transmitted to other nations as well.
From an international prayer call last week that included a Christian leader from the epicenter in Wuhan, we heard that many of the Christians in China are taking communion every day to protect themselves from death (much as the ancient Jews did in celebrating the first Passover) and to stand against the spread of the disease in prayer.
Let's continue to pray with our Chinese brethren for the end of what some think could become a global pandemic and for people there and elsewhere to be protected. Also, do pray for effective medical treatment for those who are infected and for a vaccination or other medical intervention to be quickly developed to combat it.
We know that the Lord in His redemptive love and wisdom can utilize even evil, bad things to bring forth good outcomes in the end. May He also use the current health and related economic crisis to bring real reform to the communist government of China so the people of this vast nation may finally obtain the human rights and freedoms they have longed for, so poignantly expressed in this brave woman's cry, from its 70 years of oppressive rule. (Estimates are that as many as 70 million Chinese have perished as a result of communism.) In addition, may the Christians there currently being denied religious freedom and having their churches closed down and pastors imprisoned be able to worship the Lord freely!

"You have to start to start with prayer. I don't think intellect and human wisdom can solve this," she said.
She cited the story of Nehemiah in the Old Testament, who was struggling to rebuild the walls of the Temple in Jerusalem against vehement opposition, and turned to prayer to unify and strengthen the nation.
White-Cain added that when leaders said that they prayed for one another, they should mean it.
She concluded by citing the parting words of Jesus to the Church in the New Testament (John 17:21): "Let them be one, even as We are One."
She also cited Psalm 133 - "How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together" - which is important to both the Jewish and Christian faiths.

During my residence at Coleshill, Warwickshire, England, I became acquainted with W. W. Walford, the blind preacher, a man of obscure birth and connections and no education, but of strong mind and most retentive memory. In the pulpit he never failed to select a lesson well adapted to his subject, giving chapter and verse with unerring precision and scarcely ever misplacing a word in his repetition of the Psalms, every part of the New Testament, the prophecies, and some of the histories, so as to have the reputation of "knowing the whole Bible by heart."
He actually sat in the chimney corner, employing his mind in composing a sermon or two for Sabbath delivery, and his hands in cutting, shaping and polishing bones for shoe horns and other little useful implements. At intervals he attempted poetry.
On one occasion, paying him a visit, he repeated two or three pieces which he had composed, and having no friend at home to commit them to paper, he had laid them up in the storehouse within. "How will this do?" asked he, as he repeated the following lines, with a complacent smile touched with some light lines of fear lest he subject himself to criticism. I rapidly copied the lines with my pencil, as he uttered them, and sent them for insertion in the Observer, if you should think them worthy of preservation.

Ghost ship lands in 'one in a million' place during Storm Dennis
A mysterious visitor docked on the shores west of Ballycotton in County Cork, Ireland, on Sunday amid Storm Dennis.
The motor vessel Alta was wedged upon the rocks of the Irish coast after being adrift at sea for since 2018. No one was found aboard. The 250-foot cargo ship built in 1976 was confirmed to not be polluting the area, according to the Irish Examiner.
The exact path it has taken over the years remains a mystery, though the Tanzanian-flagged cargo ship has been spotted adrift at least twice before it ended up in Ireland.
The motor vessel Alta was abandoned in 2018 about 1,300 miles away from Bermuda. It washed ashore in Ireland during Storm Dennis, a little over a year later. In 2018, the U.S. Coast Guard had rescued 10 crew members from the Alta, according to the Coast Guard News. The crew had been stranded on the ship for nearly 20 days before help arrived in the height of the Atlantic hurricane season.
"We traveled over 1,300 nautical miles to get to the disabled ship ahead of Hurricane Leslie's forecasted track and brought the 10 crewmembers (sic.) aboard. We are all proud of our part in this coordinated Coast Guard response to rescue this crew," said Commander Travis Emge, the commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Confidence.

East Rogersville Baptist Church located in Rogersville has been the launching pad for this move of God.
It's a part of Awaken Tennessee, the 30-day initiative for prayer and fasting, kicked off Jan. 26 and will run through Feb. 23.
Pastors are reporting their services are exploding with revival services as a result of the Holy Spirit showing up and taking over.
"I feel the cause is two-fold," noted Sheldon Livesay, the coordinator for Awaken Tennessee told the Rogersville Review. "Hawkins County churches have come together to join in the prayer and fasting movement across Tennessee, and Pastor John Butler here in Rogersville has created a county-wide launch at his church which now has exploded into its fourth week of services."
