Resurrection Sunday
Sunday, April 12, 2020
"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said."(Matthew 28:6)
The President’s Prayer
President Trump Offers a Prayer for Good Friday and Easter Sunday
"On this Good Friday, Christians from all around the world remember the suffering and death upon the cross of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At Easter Sunday, we will celebrate his glorious resurrection."
"Though we will not be able to gather together with one another as we normally would on Easter, we can use this sacred time to focus on prayer, reflection, and growing in our personal relationship with God."
"I ask all Americans to pray that God will heal our nation; to bring comfort to those who are grieving; to give strength to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers; to restore health to the sick; and to renew the hope in every person who is suffering."

Resurrection Sunday
Holy Week: Day Eight
Resurrection Sunday
April 12, 2020
> > > Please read I Corinthians 15: 55-58
Easter is a season of great gladness for those who know Christ. But for those who are without "the light of the knowledge of God's glory" (2 Corinthians 4:6), there is nothing to rejoice over.
Jesus left us with the great hope and certainty that He is going to return to bring a new Heaven and a new earth where, we are told, there will be no more sorrow, trouble, or death for those who have believed and followed Him. There will be trouble, sorrow, and suffering for those who have neglected or rejected Him.
As Christians, our great task is to obey the command to tell the whole world about Christ crucified, buried, yet risen again. My prayer for you during this season of the year, when we meditate on our Savior's great sacrifice for us on the cross, is that you will be filled with great peace and hope, because "He is risen!" That is the Good News.
A Question to Ponder:
As you follow Christ, are you obeying His command to tell others that He is risen indeed?
Our guide to our devotions was written by Billy Graham, and is titled "Victory: Preparing for Resurrection Sunday." Published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 2016, this special devotional for Holy Week can still be found online by going here:
A Classic Hymn
Today's Hymn:
JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY
"He has risen, just as He said." (Matthew 28:6)
Lyrics:
Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once, upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!
But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation hath procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky He's king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!
Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as His love, Alleluia!
Praise Him, all you heavenly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, Alleluia!

Reflect and Rejoice in the Resurrection
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'" Then they remembered his words. (Luke 24:1-8)
We are guessing that you could use some good news. "HE IS RISEN!" That is the BEST news! Jesus paid it all, suffered all, and overcame death to open the door to eternal life for all who would repent and follow Him. He has ascended to heaven and is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. Pause there for a moment and rejoice. Give thanks and glory to Jesus for ALL He has done and ALL He is doing.
Please let me encourage you to take time over these days to read the chapters of all four of the gospels, recounting the steps of Jesus from Thursday to Sunday. There are many details and emotions to pray through; pause and ponder them as you read, don't rush through. Imagine the thoughts and emotions of His disciples, friends and followers, as these events played out. Rightly so, our focus is drawn to the events on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, but for a moment, imagine what Saturday may have felt like. Picture the loss, mourning, and confusion they felt! They had believed that He was the Son of God, but did not believe Him when He said He MUST die - and seemingly forgot that He said He would RISE.
In these days of this worldwide emergency and pandemic, have you caught yourself feeling some emotions that have surprised you? Have you had moments of despair and doubt? Have you been short-tempered, or felt that God has turned His back on you or the world? Have you, like the disciples, had moments of fear and disillusionment? Remember, all but two of the disciples scattered and hid away after Jesus was arrested, and then one of the two denied Him. Then Sunday came and EVERYTHING changed! The words, "He has risen" rolled off the angel's lips and hope exploded in the women's hearts as they REMEMBERED His words.
In these days and every day, we need to remember Jesus' words, and let hope explode in our hearts. We need to abide in God's Word, His love, and in Him, so that our emotions do not become a stumbling block. We cannot grow weary! We are WARRIORS! Prayer warriors who battle the enemy's schemes and shame, interceding for the hurting, hopeless, and helpless. We armor up and take the sword, the Word of God, and fight back fear, doubt, and everything else that comes at you and against you. Rest and rejoice in Jesus. He has risen!
Please join us in prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for suffering for us, for taking the punishment of my sin and washing away my guilt and shame. Thank you for abundant and eternal life. I resolve to abide in Your Word and to live every day in the power of knowing You have risen, and that You reign.

Franklin Graham to Preach Live on Fox News
Franklin Graham to offer Easter message from emergency field hospital in Central Park
Special faith programming to be carried live by Fox News
Evangelist Franklin Graham will offer a special Easter morning service from an emergency field hospital in the middle of New York City's Central Park - a facility donated to the coronavirus relief effort by Samaritan's Purse, a nonprofit charity long associated with the pastor's faith outreach.
"Because our nation and the world are in crisis, I want to share a message of the unshakable hope found only in Jesus Christ this Sunday," Mr. Graham said.
It is a time of "fear, anxiety and uncertainty" he noted.
"From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sandra Smith will anchor a two-hour block featuring live reports from FNC correspondents and segments with priests, pastors and rabbis on site at Easter and Passover celebrations around the globe, including Franklin Graham's 20-minute Easter message," the network advised.
FoxNews.com will also livestream services from St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, St, Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, among other churches beginning Friday.
