President Trump Offers New Plan
Introduces Guidelines for Opening Up America Again
President Trump has unveiled Guidelines for Opening Up America Again, a three-phased approach based on the advice of public health experts. These steps will help state and local officials when reopening their economies, getting people back to work, and continuing to protect American lives.

As Surgeon General Adams has noted, we are still operating under the President's "30 Days to Slow the Spread Guidelines", which is phase 0 of the Guidelines for Opening Up America Again.

Remember Phase 1 ($3.8 billion) and Phase 2 ($104 billion)? We've been on an exponentially upward trajectory adding at least a zero with each phase of these relief packages. If only now Phase 4 is going to be “expensive” (as if all the others haven't been already), how much could Congress actually consider spending?
Senate Majority Leader McConnell has put the Senate on notice that any further legislating of this nature will require Senators to vote in person. No more spending by unanimous consent. Senators Mike Lee and Rand Paul, who both spoke on the Senate floor about Phase 3.5, have affirmed the same.

Dear CHPP Prayer Warriors,
We, like you, continue to intercede before the Throne of Grace that ALL may come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and as Lord. Indeed, in 2 Peter 3:9, it is written that God is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance."
In order to help you intercede for the people of Islam, during this time when they are each in intensive prayer for Ramadan, we have found a resource to assist you in praying for each one. This is called "Thirty Days of Prayer for the Muslim World."
Day by day, we will publish their prayers, as we can; and will then "catch up" with this wonderful ministry on the days when we do not publish our alerts.

1. Iran Guards chief vows 'decisive response' after Trump threat - News.yahoo.com
Tehran (AFP) - Iran's Revolutionary Guards chief on Thursday warned the US of a "decisive response" after President Donald Trump said he ordered the US Navy to destroy Iranian boats that harass American ships in the Gulf. Iran and the United States have appeared to be on the brink of an all-out confrontation twice in the past year. Decades-old acrimony between the two sides worsened in 2018 when Trump unilaterally withdrew from a deal that gave Iran relief from sanctions in return for curbs on its nuclear programme. Tensions escalated further in January when a US air strike killed Qasem Soleimani, the top Iranian general who headed the Guards' foreign arm, the Quds Force.
"We declare to the Americans that we are absolutely determined and serious . . . and that all action will be met with a decisive response that will be efficient and quick," Major General Hossein Salami said. "We have also ordered our naval units to target (US boats and forces) if they try to endanger the safety of our ships or boats of war."
The latest confrontation between the arch-foes came after the United States accused Iran of harassing its ships in the Gulf last week. (Read more)

2. Trump signs $484 billion stimulus package into law - Business Insider
President Donald Trump signed into law on Friday a $484 billion coronavirus relief package to provide some aid to small businesses and the healthcare system.
The bill includes funding for the small-business-lending program that quickly ran out of money earlier this month. It also includes plans to scale up testing.
The House passed the largely bipartisan bill on Thursday, with four Republicans and one Democrat voting against it. The Senate passed the legislation by voice vote on Tuesday.
The bill injects $320 billion into the Paycheck Protection Program, which is intended to allow small businesses to continue paying their employees.
Lawmakers are still expected to propose a follow-up to the larger Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act in the coming weeks, but Democrats and Republicans have struggled to come to an agreement on what should be included. (Read more)

3. In win for Trump, U.S. Supreme Court makes deporting immigrants for crimes easier - Reuters
The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday made it easier for federal authorities to deport certain immigrants who have committed crimes in a victory for President Donald Trump's administration.
The court ruled 5-4 to uphold a lower court decision that found a legal permanent resident from Jamaica named Andre Martello Barton ineligible to have his deportation canceled under a U.S. law that lets some longtime legal residents avoid expulsion. The conservative justices were in the majority, with the liberal justices dissenting.
Barton, a 42-year-old car repair shop manager and father of four, was targeted for deportation after criminal convictions in Georgia for drug and gun crimes. The decision could affect thousands of immigrants with criminal convictions - many for minor offenses - who reside legally in the United States. There are more than 13 million legal U.S. permanent residents, also known as "green card" holders, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Glenn Fogle, an attorney for Barton, called the ruling "extremely disappointing" and expressed concern for his client, who has already been sent back to Jamaica. "My heart goes out to Mr. Barton and his family as he is now effectively barred from ever rejoining them in the United States," Fogle said. The Trump administration argued against Barton's bid to avoid deportation. (Read more)

4. McConnell Says He Favors Letting States Declare Bankruptcy - Bloomberg
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday he favors allowing states struggling with high public employee pension costs amid the burdens of the pandemic response to declare bankruptcy rather than giving them a federal bailout. "I would certainly be in favor of allowing states to use the bankruptcy route," he said Wednesday in response to a question on the syndicated Hugh Hewitt radio show. "It's saved some cities, and there's no good reason for it not to be available."
The host cited California, Illinois and Connecticut as states that had given too much to public employee unions, and McConnell said he was reluctant to take on more debt for any rescue. "You raised yourself the important issue of what states have done, many of them have done to themselves with their pension programs," he said. "There's not going to be any desire on the Republican side to bail out state pensions by borrowing money from future generations."
McConnell's remarks drew a biting response from state and local officials. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, a Democrat, said he was stunned by McConnell's comments, which he called "completely and utterly irresponsible." "He's dead wrong. You have my word we won't go bankrupt," he said. Without cash to states, Murphy said, governors will be forced to "gut the living daylights out of every state of America," slashing budgets and eliminating the services people need. (Read more)

5. Trump pushes back against CDC director's warning about coronavirus second wave - Fox News
President Trump brought Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield to the podium on Wednesday to clarify a statement he made saying that a second wave of the coronavirus this winter could actually be worse than the first one. Redfield, who made his original comment to the Washington Post, said during the daily coronavirus task force briefing that while he was not misquoted by the newspaper he did feel the need to clarify his comment.
"I didn't say it was going to be worse, I said it would be more difficult," Redfield said. "The issue I was talking about was that it will be more difficult in that we will have two viruses circulating at one time."
Redfield said he wanted to urge Americans to get the flu shot next season in order to help minimize the number of flu infections in case of a recurrence of COVID-19. Trump adamantly argued that the coronavirus would not come back in the fall with the same virulence that has this spring - saying that at most it would be "the embers" of the virus the country will have to deal with when the next flu season begins. 6. UPDATED: MVHS to furlough 20% of workforce -UTICAOD
The Mohawk Valley Health System (New York State) will furlough about 20 percent of its workers Wednesday for up to four months as part of a financial plan to recover from the expenses and lost revenues of the COVID-19 pandemic, officials announced Tuesday.
With more than 4,000 employees, that works out to about 800 full- and part-time employees, President/CEO Darlene Stromstad. "We're losing money at a clip of about $18 million a month," Stromstad said. "That's not sustainable."
The hospital currently is running at about 52 percent of its normal volumes for inpatient and outpatient care, Stromstad said. And all elective surgeries and procedures, one of the health system's most lucrative services, have stopped under state order. (Read more)

7. Pro-Trump Georgia Democrat reverses decision to resign after 'overwhelming support' - The Washington Times
Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones has changed his mind about resigning from the state legislature, announcing Thursday that he would "remain on the battlefield" despite the Democratic outcry over his endorsement of President Trump.
Mr. Jones, a black Democrat, said he received "an overwhelming amount of support" from his constituents, as well as "fellow Georgians and fellow Americans from across this country," after declaring Wednesday that he had "left the plantation" and would step down.
"You know what, America?" said Mr. Jones in an online video. "I thought about it, and I talked to my family and I talked to my supporters, and because of what you did for me, I am going to remain on the battlefield. I am going to complete my term, I am going to put my country before my party." (Read more)

8. Connecticut police to test 'pandemic drone' that monitors health of residents - Fox News
Police in Westport, Conn., said they will be testing a "pandemic drone" that can scan the body temperatures of residents to determine if they have fevers or other health symptoms in an effort to combat the coronavirus.
Aerospace company Draganfly announced in a news release the drones will be equipped with a specialized sensor and computer vision systems that can display heart and respiratory rates. They can also detect people coughing in crowds, police said.
"One of the major problems for cities and towns like Westport in managing and responding to a pandemic like the COVID-19 virus, is finding out who could be infected and how widespread the disease has spread," said Westport First Selectman, Jim Marpe. "One way to do this is to look for underlying symptoms." (Read more)
- Father, we pray this pandemic drone will not work out. As it sounds like a "good idea", there are so many of our rights that can be infringed upon. The report says the drone won't go into people's backyards due to privacy concerns but how will that evolve in the future, and it will be programmed to monitor if citizens are abiding by social distancing. We pray protection for our rights, and that Americans will recognize when those rights are being challenged.

9. WHO Warns Rush to Ease CCP Virus Restrictions May Lead to Resurgence - Epoch Times
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that rushing to ease CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus restrictions could lead to a resurgence of the disease as some states across the United States, particularly those who have not been as hard hit by the pandemic, have announced plans to reopen and get their economies up and running again.
"This is not the time to be lax. Instead, we need to ready ourselves for a new way of living for the foreseeable future," said Dr. Takeshi Kasai, the WHO regional director for the Western Pacific.
Kasai said governments must remain vigilant to stop the spread of the virus, and the lifting of lockdowns and other social distancing measures must be done gradually and strike the right balance between keeping people healthy and allowing economies to function. (Read more)

10. Pence to Limbaugh: Coronavirus crisis could largely be 'behind us' by early June - The Hill
Vice President Pence said during an interview Thursday with conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh that if current trend lines hold, the coronavirus crisis could be largely "behind us" by early June. Pence's remarks come as some states look to begin reopening their economies in the coming days, with Oklahoma, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, South Carolina and Texas lifting some restrictions.
Other states, including North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Wyoming, did not have stay-at-home orders. "I truly do believe if current trend lines hold, that by early June, we could largely have this coronavirus epidemic behind us, and begin to see our nation open back up and go back to work," Pence told Limbaugh.
Pence, who also leads the president's coronavirus task force, shared that he "would not be surprised" if many in the country have already been exposed to the virus, which he says would allow "a degree of immunity" from the virus. "There is a high likelihood that if you've had this coronavirus in the past, that you will enjoy some immunity from it in the future," he said. "It's among the reasons why our nation, should the coronavirus reemerge at any time in the future, our nation will be in a much better place." "If some of those early studies hold out, there will be an awful lot of Americans in the fall and in the winter of next year that actually enjoy a degree of immunity from the coronavirus. That will be a bulwark against this," Pence added. (Read more)

11. Trump plans air shows around country - The Hill
President Trump said Wednesday that Thunderbirds and Blue Angels will fly over American cities in coming weeks as part of a tribute to frontline medical workers amid the coronavirus pandemic. "We're paying tribute to our frontline healthcare workers confronting covid, and it's really a signal to all Americans to remain vigilant during the outbreak," Trump said during a White House briefing.
"This is a tribute to them, to our warriors, because they're equal warriors to those incredible pilots, all of the fighters that we have for the more traditional fights that we win."
Trump said the plan, named Operation America Strong, was an idea that came from military officials. "The Thunderbird and Blue Angel crews . . . wanted to show support to the American medical workers, who just like military members in a time of war, are fiercely running toward the fight," Trump said.
Operation America Strong was first reported by The Washington Post, citing a Pentagon memo and military officials, ahead of Trump's briefing. (Read more)

Malawi inspires organisers of first Global Day of Repentance
A Key to Turning Back the Plague!
As prayer leaders in various nations have recognised a connection between Malawi's commitment to repentance and its low Covid-19 infection rate, they have asked prayer leaders in Malawi to allow them to join them in decreeing a day of global repentance for national and personal sins, say the organisers of the first Global Day of Repentance.
The event, comprising a 24-hour world-wide repentance programme, will be launched on May 1, starting at 12pm (Jerusalem time). Each of the 24 hours will represent a personal or national sin and participants will prayerfully decide which hour or hours to spend confessing and repenting of specific sins.
According to Dr Edward Mikwamba coordinator for National Repentance Week Malawi - an initiative that has been running for 10 years - the US-based organisers of the global repentance event say that 50 000 people around the globe have subscribed to join the programme and the number is exepected to rise substantially.
He said the vision is for 24 nations to each repent for one sin listed in the 24-hour rotation, with Malawi taking the first hour.
After the first Global Day of Repentance the organisers plan to hold regular repentance days targeting different nations.
