News from the Department of Justice

1. Statement from Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband on Federal Court's Religious Liberty Ruling Concerning New York City and New York State

Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband of the Civil Rights Division issued the following statement in response to the federal court ruling today regarding religious liberty in New York City and New York State:

"Today's federal court decision is a win for religious freedom and the civil liberties of New Yorkers. Government cannot discriminate by protecting free speech and the right to assemble while threatening or limiting religious exercise - it must protect all rights guaranteed under the First Amendment. The court's decision is consistent with positions and arguments made by the United States Department of Justice in similar filings and letters, including in New York City and elsewhere around the country. The Department of Justice will continue to support people of faith who seek equal treatment against threats and actions by public officials who discriminate against them because of their religion. The Constitution and our oath to defend and protect it require nothing less."

The federal case is Soos et al., v. Cuomo et al., No. 1:20-cv-651 (N.D.N.Y).

The court opinion can be found here.

The department's previous statement on religious concerns in New York City can be found here.

2. Four Men Charged in Federal Court for Attempting to Tear Down Statue of Andrew Jackson in Lafayette Square Amid Protests

WASHINGTON - Lee Michael Cantrell, 47, of Virginia; Connor Matthew Judd, 20, of Washington, D.C.; Ryan Lane, 37, of Maryland; and Graham Lloyd, 37, of Maine, were charged by criminal complaint yesterday with destruction of federal property, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Michael R. Sherwin, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Washington Field Office's Criminal Division James A. Dawson, and Acting Chief of the United States Park Police (USPP) Gregory T. Monahan.

The complaint, unsealed today, alleges that on June 22, 2020, the four men along with other unidentified individuals, damaged and attempted to tear down the statue depicting Andrew Jackson located in Lafayette Square. The complaint further alleges that Cantrell was captured on video attempting to pry the statue off its base with a wooden board and trying to pull the statue down with the aid of a yellow strap. The complaint alleges that Judd is seen on video trying to pull down the statue, and that Lane is seen on video affixing a rope to one part of the statue and then pulling on another rope tied to the statue. The complaint also alleges that video of the incident shows Lloyd as he breaks off and destroys the wheels of cannons located at the base of the statue. Lloyd is also captured on video pulling on ropes in an effort to topple the statue, and handing a hammer to an unidentified individual involved in the incident.

Judd was arrested on Friday and appeared in Superior Court of the District of Columbia today. The matter will be transferred to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia on Monday, June 29, 2020, where Judd will make his initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Robin M. Meriweather. The remaining defendants have not yet been apprehended.

A criminal complaint is a formal accusation of criminal conduct for purposes of establishing probable cause, not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

"The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia will not stand idly by and allow our national monuments to be vandalized and destroyed. This Office remains steadfast in its commitment to protect the sacred First Amendment right of individuals to peacefully protest, but these charges should serve as a warning to those who choose to desecrate the statues and monuments that adorn our nation's capital: your violent behavior and criminal conduct will not be tolerated," said Acting U.S. Attorney Michael R. Sherwin.

"The FBI respects the peaceful exercise of First Amendment rights, but we will not allow opportunists to hijack peaceful protests to incite violence and destruction of property," said James A. Dawson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office's Criminal Division. "We will continue to work with our partners to enforce federal laws prohibiting damage to government facilities and property."

"Members of the United States Park Police are working tirelessly to provide quality law enforcement, safeguard lives, protect our national treasures and symbols of democracy, and preserve the natural and cultural resources entrusted to its service. We are committed to ensuring that citizens are able to freely exercise their constitutional rights in a safe and peaceful manner. The deplorable acts of violence and destruction of property are unacceptable and will continue to be pursued through ongoing collaborative investigations and enforcement efforts," said Gregory T. Monahan, Acting Chief of the United States Park Police.

In announcing the charges, Acting U.S. Attorney Sherwin, Special Agent in Charge Dawson, and Acting Chief Monahan commended the work of the FBI agents and USPP officers who apprehended the four men and are investigating the incident. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Gilead Light, Sara Vanore, and Laura Crane of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia.

This joint investigation was conducted by the United States Park Police and the FBI Washington Field Office's Violent Crime Task Force. Significant assistance was also provided by the Washington Metropolitan Police Department. The Violent Crime Task Force is charged with investigating acts of violence impacting the District of Columbia. Tips associated with this matter or other acts of violence can be reported to the FBI at 202-278-2000 or tips.fbi.gov.

Focus on Israel

1. Iran, Turkey could Unite to Wage War Against Israel warns Mid-East Experts - Breaking Israel News

The notion of a joint Iran-Turkey invasion of Israel is a realistic scenario according to several Middle East experts.

According to Jpost correspondent Seth Franzman's analysis, both Ankara and Tehran have been cooperating in various Middle East conflicts including their opposition to American involvement in Syria as well as battling Kurdish dissident groups. And the once rivals also now share a hatred of Israel combined with the support of Hamas which could translate into a united front in a potential war against Israel.

Franzman notes a high-level meeting between Iran's foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Turkish officials where the former asked that Ankara help his country fight against sanctions. In exchange, Tehran would support Turkish efforts in Libya to secure offshore oil drilling rights. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu: We are being forced to close down again - Israel National News

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu addressed the re-imposition of coronavirus restrictions in light of the increase in COVID-19 cases during the weekly Cabinet meeting Sunday. "The pandemic is raising its head around the world. We have passed the threshold of ten million infected people and 500,000 dead. I do not know if this is the second wave; I do know that this is a rising wave. Many countries that lifted the restrictions, upon a lessening of the disease, are now being compelled to re-impose the restrictions in order to block the spread. We have seen in other places that this is not a health or economic issue because a severe blow to health is also a very severe blow to the economy," Netanyahu said.

The prime minister said the government would discuss new restrictions to combat the rising tide of cases. "We have also been compelled to take actions. I likened our policy, when we opened up the economy upon a lessening of the disease, and said that this was an accordion policy. You open it and if you see the disease returning and spreading - you tighten it. This is not a zigzag; it is the policy of any sane country and it is also how we will act. Therefore, in light of the increased spread, today in the Corona Cabinet, we will discuss restrictions on gatherings alongside steps to increase enforcement and the steps that we are taking to make severing the chain of infection more efficient."

He added: "Alongside this, the Finance Ministry has been asked to render immediate assistance to sectors that have been hurt and - of course - see to the transfer of the funds that we have allocated, considerable funds that must reach the public, including the unemployed. If we succeed with health, we will succeed with the economy. It is my intention that we succeed with both. This requires determined action, which is not always simple, but is required at this time. We will take action regarding health and the economy and with G-d's help we will be victorious."

3. Decline in coronavirus infections, fewer serious COVID-19 cases - Israel National News

The number of new confirmed cases of the coronavirus declined Sunday, following a recent spike both in the daily infection rate and the percentage of tests which returned positive.

According to data released by the Israeli Health Ministry Sunday evening, the number of new confirmed cases of the coronavirus fell to 398 Saturday, with 183 new cases confirmed as of Sunday evening.

That's below the 504 new confirmed cases recorded on Thursday - the highest number in a single day since April. That decline is due in part to the smaller number of tests conducted, dropping from 19,832 last Tuesday and 18,457 last Thursday, to 10,489 on Saturday and 5,516 thus far on Sunday.

4. Gantz: I'll give equal rights to Palestinians in annexed areas -Jerusalem Post

Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz set out his parameters for West Bank annexation on Friday, pledging not to apply Israeli law to territory with large Palestinian population centers and offering equal rights to those Palestinians in territory over which Israel intends to apply sovereignty.

Gantz posted on his Facebook page his vision for moving toward a peace deal with the Palestinians, based on US President Donald Trump's peace plan, which was unveiled in January.

"I won't apply Israeli law in places where many Palestinians live or where their freedom of movement will be harmed," said Gantz, who is also the Defense Minister and heads the Blue and White party. "If there are Palestinian residents in areas where Israeli law will be applied, they will be given equal rights."

5. 9 Iran-backed fighters killed in 2nd raid in Syria in 24 hours - monitor - Times of Israel

Airstrikes targeting positions of Iran-backed militias in eastern Syria killed nine fighters on Sunday in the second such raid in 24 hours, a war monitor said.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Israel was "likely responsible" for the strikes near the Iraqi border.

The strikes took place in Al-Siyal desert in the Albukamal countryside, east of Deir Ezzor, the monitor said.

They came hours after a similar raid killed six other Tehran-backed fighters, raising the total toll to 15 killed in 24 hours, according to the monitor.

The Daily Brief

1. Cuomo, de Blasio wrong to limit worship services, condone mass protests: federal judge - Fox News

A federal judge said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Attorney General Letitia James, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio "exceeded" their executive limits by limiting worship services and condoning mass protests as the state continues to reopen from coronavirus restrictions.

U.S. District Judge Gary L. Sharpe issued a preliminary injunction Friday on behalf of two Catholic priests -- Steven Soos and Nicholas Stamos -- and a trio of Orthodox Jewish congregants -- Elchanan Perr, Daniel Schonborn, and Mayer Mayerfeld -- in Brooklyn, represented by the Thomas More Society.

They filed the suit in the Northern District of New York after mass protests and looting occurred in the Big Apple following George Floyd's police-related death in May.

De Blasio had "simultaneous pro-protest/anti-religious gathering messages" when he "actively encouraged participation in protests and openly discouraged religious gatherings and threatened religious worshipers," Sharpe said in his federal order.

"Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio could have just as easily discouraged protests, short of condemning their message, in the name of public health and exercised discretion to suspend enforcement for public safety reasons instead of encouraging what they knew was a flagrant disregard of the outdoor limits and social distancing rules," the judge added. "They could have also been silent. But by acting as they did, Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio sent a clear message that mass protests are deserving of preferential treatment." (Read more)

- Lord, we have seen such egregious actions by governors and mayors who hate You across the nation. We repent of allowing them in power, and pray that You will move on all of our hearts and theirs, to be changed by Your Spirit in repentance.

- "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out." (Act 3:19)

2. Pastors vow to 'defend' houses of worship, 'not allow Christian heritage to be erased'- Fox News

A group of evangelical pastors gathered at Seattle's CHOP zone earlier this week to pray and declare that they will defend houses of worship and statues of Jesus after activists called for tearing them down amid Black Lives Matter protests.

Brian Gibson, founder of the Peaceably Gather movement and pastor of His Church, denounced Shaun King's call to remove "white Jesus" statues and other activists trying to remove Christian symbols and monuments in a movement that began with hatred and vandalism toward Confederate statues.

"The call from Black Lives Matters leaders to destroy images of Christ and deface houses of worship is nothing less than a terroristic threat to people of faith," Gibson told Fox News.

"Christians across America must stand against this violent religious discrimination and stand to protect sacred ground," the megachurch pastor added. "This threat particularly targets the Catholic Church, and every Christian, despite denomination, and every person of the Good Book, should stand together in unity against this evil." (Read more)

- Father, we must have unity at this time against the wiles of the devil. As the rhetoric grows in darkness across the land, we ask that Your church rise up as one to fight against it.

"I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment." (1 Corinthians 1:10)

3. Americans likely to be barred from Europe when borders reopen next week due to coronavirus surge - Fox News

Americans likely won't be welcome next week when the European Union starts reopening its borders to international travel. The reason: surging numbers of coronavirus cases in the United States.

Late Friday, the E.U.'s European Council agreed to a draft proposal setting out criteria for the new travel rules and a list of countries whose residents would be allowed in. The U.S. is reportedly not on the list.

A European Union official told Fox News that the U.S. currently "won't fit into the criteria that are on the table" for entry into Europe.

Coronavirus is still seen as actively spreading in America, with a number of states reporting record numbers of confirmed infections. Americans have been banned from the E.U. since March. (Read more)

- Lord, once again we take authority over this virus in the Name of Jesus and command it to stop. We ask that Your Holy Spirit move over the earth in a wave of repentance and power, sweeping aside the lies and bringing truth to Your church and life to the world.

- "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

4. Second economist to leave White House - The Hill

Tomas Philipson, a top economic adviser to President Trump, plans to leave the White House at the end of June, making him the second White House economist with plans to depart this summer.

Philipson will leave his position as acting chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) at the end of the month and "will be returning to his tenured role at the University of Chicago in the fall," White House spokesman Judd Deere said in an emailed statement. The development was first reported by The Washington Post.

News broke earlier this week that economist Kevin Hassett, who returned to the White House temporarily in March as an adviser to Trump during the coronavirus pandemic, planned to leave his advisory role this summer. Deere also confirmed Hassett's expected departure.

"I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve on your Council of Economic Advisers for nearly three years," Philipson wrote to Trump in a June 23 letter announcing his departure that was posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday.

"It was the honor of a lifetime to work for a President who prioritizes pro-growth and market-based reforms that uplift all Americans. When the American people are free to work, invest, and create jobs without excessive government restraints, there is no limit to what they can achieve," he wrote. (Read more)

- Lord, we see people departing from the White House and wonder what has precipitated it. We ask for people to replace those who have left; people with wisdom and skill to properly advise the President on matters of the economy.

"With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand."(Psalm 78:72)

5. Trump signs federal skills-based hiring executive order- Fox Business

President Trump on Friday signed an executive order that aims to promote skills-based hiring for federal jobs. "Today, I'll sign an executive order that directs the federal government to replace outdated . . . degree-based hiring with skills-based hiring," Trump said Friday during a meeting with the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board. "The federal government will no longer be narrowly focused on where you went to school but the skills and the talents that you bring to the job." Trump added that the administration has "looked at merit for a long time."

Adviser to the president Ivanka Trump, who co-chairs the board, said the EO will allow the government to "better recognize the talents and competencies of all Americans" it hires.

The executive order aims to "modernize" the federal recruitment process by looking at candidates' specific skills through assessments and interviews rather than prioritizing candidates with degrees that can sometimes be unrelated to the job, the first daughter said during a Friday call with reporters. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that common sense Executive Orders regarding hiring for the Federal Government are now in place.

"Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men." (Proverbs 22:29)

6. Dow tumbles 730 points as coronavirus spike threatens economic recovery - Fox Business

Stocks plunged Friday as a rebound in COVID-19 infections began to slow America's reopening from economically wrenching lockdowns and new risks materialized to President Trump's trade deal with China.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which dipped briefly below the 25,000 mark before rebounding, closed down 729 points or 2.84 percent while the S&P tumbled 2.42 percent.

Financial stocks paced the drop as investors reacted to the Federal Reserve's decision to cap dividends and halt stock-buybacks until at least Sept. 30 against an easing of the so-called Volcker Rule.

The regulation, named for former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker and imposed after the 2008 financial crisis, barred banks from speculative trades on their own accounts. Easing it may buoy their revenue.

Limiting payouts to investors, meanwhile, will preserve capital as lenders navigate the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

Energy names also fell on concerns about weak demand tied to the virus. (Read more)

- Lord, we bind this virus in the Name and by the Power of the Blood of Jesus Christ, we declare that it must stop and spread no further.

- "'This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!'"

7. Supreme Court denies Texas Democrats' bid to expand mail voting before July primary - The Hill

The justices let stand an appeals court ruling that halted a U.S. district judge's previous order allowing any voter who cites concerns about the pandemic to vote by mail.

Under current Texas rules, only voters with a "qualifying reason" - advanced age, disability, incarceration or planned travel - can mail in ballots. Republican state officials oppose broadening the criteria, citing the potential for fraud, though election analysts and fact-checkers have found that voting fraud targeting mail-in balloting is extremely rare.

Texas Democrats have sought for months to expand the definition of "disability" to include those with concerns about the potential health implications of in-person voting during a pandemic.

The issue sparked months of court fights and prompted the state party's request that the Supreme Court pause the appeals court ruling - which the justices denied Friday.

"We are disappointed that the Supreme Court did not weigh in now and provide needed relief and clarity for voters ahead of the primary runoff," Texas Democratic Party Chairperson Gilberto Hinojosa said in a statement. (Read more)

- Father, this is only one ruling regarding mail-in voting in Texas. There are many more plans to do it across the country. We ask for protections in place to keep the vote true and safe. We pray that Your Angelic Host will stand watch over the upcoming elections in every state, to protect them from fraud.

- "One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much." (Luke 16:10)

8. Facebook slaps warning label on RNC video about 'left-wing anarchists' as platform unveils new policy - Fox News

Facebook on Friday placed a warning label on a video posted by the Republican National Committee (RNC) that features police officers being hit by drivers during the midst of civil unrest following the death of George Floyd -- the same day the company announced a new policy to flag "newsworthy" posts from politicians that break its rules.

"This video may show violent or graphic content," the warning on the GOP post reads. "We covered this video so you can decide if you want to see it. It's about destroying America," the RNC video caption says. "Left-wing anarchists are using CHAOS to destroy America."

The video features an incident with an NYPD officer being struck by a vehicle in what appeared to be a deliberate hit-and-run. It also features what appears to be a police cruiser on fire, as well as scenes from St. John's Church, which has been vandalized during protests in Washington, D.C.

"As with other videos that feature this graphic hit-and-run, we've included a warning screen so people are aware the content may be disturbing," a Facebook spokesperson told a CNN reporter. (Read more)

- Lord, as censorship grows so that people cannot see the truth, we pray that Your mercy and grace will prevail against it. We ask for a mighty revelation of truth from a move of Your Holy Spirit.

- "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth."
(Romans 1:18)

9. FEC commissioner resigns, leaving agency without a quorum again- The Hill

Caroline Hunter, a Republican commissioner on the Federal Election Commission (FEC), announced Friday that she is stepping down next week, leaving the agency without a quorum and unable to vote on enforcement actions.

Hunter's resignation came just weeks after the FEC had regained a quorum of four commissioners following the Senate confirmation of Republican Trey Trainor.

In a resignation letter sent to President Trump on Friday, Hunter, who was nominated to the position by former President George W. Bush in 2008, wrote that the FEC "could benefit greatly from new faces and fresh perspectives."

"It needs Commissioners who will respect the First Amendment, understand the limits of the FEC's jurisdiction, and remember that Congress established the FEC to prevent single-party control, with every significant decision requiring bipartisan approval," she wrote.

Hunter pointed to concerns over another unnamed commissioner "who has served more than a decade past the expiration of her term" as someone who "misrepresents the jurisdiction of the agency and deliberately enables outside groups to usurp the Commission's role in litigation and chilled protected speech."

While Hunter did not name the commissioner, FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub, a Democrat who has served since 2002, has been an outspoken critic of the FEC's dysfunction over the past few years. (Read more)

- Lord, the FEC oversees America's elections. We pray for a strong choice for replacement, and remedy for this lack of a quorum so that real oversight will be a reality in this election year.

- "Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds."
(Proverbs 27:23)

10. Appeals court rules Trump administration lacked authority to shift military money to wall - Fox News

A federal appeals court on Friday ruled that the Trump administration acted unlawfully when it transferred $2.5 billion in military construction projects to build parts of the wall at the southern border -- a blow to the administration's efforts to fulfill President Trump's signature 2016 campaign promise.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 that the administration illegally went around Congress in reappropriating the funds. It ruled on a suit brought by a coalition of border states including California and environmental groups.

"The panel affirmed the district court's judgment holding that budgetary transfers of funds for the construction of a wall on the southern border of the United States in California and New Mexico were not authorized under the Department of Defense Appropriations Act of 2019," the ruling said.

The court concluded that ". . . the Executive Branch lacked independent constitutional authority to transfer the funds at issue here" and that therefore "the transfer of funds was unlawful."

"The panel noted that the Appropriations Clause of the U.S. Constitution exclusively grants the power of the purse to Congress. The panel held that the transfer of funds violated the Appropriations Clause, and, therefore, was unlawful."

The court also ruled that the government was not in compliance with environmental regulations, and was therefore harming those who visit the region for nature-related activities including bird-watching and would also disturb wildlife. (Read more)

- Father, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals is notorious for being liberal. We ask for Your help in securing our borders, and that the administration will send this to the Supreme Court. We pray for favor and a reversal of this decision.

- "Rise to my defense! Take up my case, my God and my Lord. Declare me "not guilty," O Lord my God, for you give justice!" (Psalm 35:23,24)

Roger Stone in the News

Trump Retweets Petition Calling for Roger Stone Pardon

President Donald Trump has retweeted a petition to pardon Roger Stone, fueling speculation one might come before Stone serves jail time.

As Prosecuting Attorneys Resign, Over 110,000 Sign Petition to Pardon Roger Stone

Stone was sentenced to 40 months in prison for a conviction on charges of witness-tempering, obstruction, and lying to Congress during the 2016 Russia investigation amid allegations he coordinated the WikiLeaks' email disclosures from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign with the Trump campaign.

A federal judge ordered Stone to begin his prison sentence July 14 under home confinement due to the global coronavirus pandemic, as Politico reported.

Trump has vowed before that Stone will not serve jail time, responding to a tweet Stone will serve more jail time than rioters, looters, vandals, and arsonists during the George Floyd riots, tweeting June 4:

"No. Roger was a victim of a corrupt and illegal Witch Hunt, one which will go down as the greatest political crime in history. He can sleep well at night!"

A Prayer Strategy from CHPP

A Prayer Strategy from CHPP

Based upon Romans 8:26

Submitted by Sara Ballenger, Founder and President
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
chpp1994@gmail.com

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans." (Romans 8:26)

> > > In these days, when we are all receiving alarming news, hour by hour, it seems that we are being beseiged by negative reports. Indeed, there seems to be a tsunami of reports daily -- all negative and all alarming -- so that, in the natural, we can barely keep up!

How then, in these perilous times, are we to keep up and to maintain our positioning before the Throne of Grace, as watchmen on the wall?

Happily, our GOD gives us an answer for these perilous times:

simply . .. whenever we hear an alarming report . . . immediately forgive the wicked (Mark 11:25) and then pray in the Spirit!

Why?

Because the Ominiscient One, who knows ALL the details and how to gain the victory over Satan and his minions, dwells within our hearts, and upon our very tongues!

For those of us who have been blessed to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, we have also been given the "gift of tongues." This is His prayer language, praying through us! Hence, as we pray in tongues, our Lord literally prays through us and obliterates our enemies!

THIS IS THE PROMISE OF ROMANS 8:26!

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."

How, then, do we go about activating this strategy, point by point and day by day?

Here are the steps to follow.

1. You hear the report
2. You do not receive (agree with) the report
3. You come against the spirit of FEAR that is trying to ensnare you.
4. (By an act of your will) you forgive your enemy
5. You give the report to GOD.
6. You then PRAY IN THE SPIRIT until His peace enfolds you again.
7. You PRAISE THE LORD for the victory!

It is written: "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19)

Here are three examples of how we can put this strategy into pratice:

1. China: 200 communist officials demolish church, beat Christians - Christian Post

MY RESPONSE: Give it to GOD; pray in tongues

2. Minneapolis City Council unanimously votes on plan to dismantle police department in wake of anti-brutality protests - Fox News

MY RESPONSE: Give it to GOD (do not give into anger); pray in tongues

3. U.S. coronavirus cases surge by more than 45,000 in one day, total surpasses 2.5 million - CNBC

MY RESPONSE: Give it to GOD (do not give into fear); pray in tongues

AND FINALLY . . .

. . . As we learn this new habit, and continue to "march through our days" applying this tactic, GUESS WHAT? We will be turned into "a sharp, threshing instrument" in the hand of our God, PULVERIZING THE ENEMY, POINT BY POINT!

IT IS WRITTEN:

"Do not fear, O worm of Jacob, O few men of Israel. I will help you," declares the LORD. "Your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make you into a threshing sledge, new and sharp, with many teeth. You will thresh the mountains and crush them, and reduce the hills to chaff. You will winnow them, and a wind will carry them away; a gale will scatter them. But you will rejoice in the LORD; you will glory in the Holy One of Israel." (Isaiah 41:14-16)

AMEN!

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS

"He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them."(Mark 10:16)

Lyrics

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
Hark! 'tis the voice of angels,
Borne in a song to me.
Over the fields of glory,
Over the jasper sea.

Refrain

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe on His gentle breast
There by His love o'ershaded,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.

Safe in the arms of Jesus,
Safe from corroding care,
Safe from the world's temptations,
Sin cannot harm me there.
Free from the blight of sorrow,
Free from my doubts and fears;
Only a few more trials,
Only a few more tears!

Refrain

Jesus, my heart's dear refuge,
Jesus has died for me;
Firm on the Rock of Ages,
Ever my trust shall be.
Here let me wait with patience,
Wait till the night is over;
Wait till I see the morning
Break on the golden shore.

About the Author:
Words: Fanny Crosby, 1870
Melody: W. Howard Doane

This song was played on August 8, 1885, when American president Ulysses S. Grant was interred in Riverside Park, on the banks of the Hudson River.

About the Hymn:

At the close of one of Mr. Sankey's meetings in Glasgow, Scotland, a woman said to him: "Mr. Sankey, I want to tell you about my daughter, Maggie. She was converted when you were here eight years ago, but has gone home to heaven, and I want to tell you what she said when she was dying. She asked me to get her little hymn-book, and when I brought it she asked me to turn to No. 25, saying: "I want to sing it." "Why, my child," said I, "you are not able to sing." "Yes," she said, "I want to sing one more song before I go; will you please turn to the twenty-fifth hymn, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."" I found it for her and she began to sing these lines:"

Hark, 'tis the voice of angels
Borne in a song to me,
Over the fields of glory,
Over the jasper sea.

"Her voice then seemed to fail her, and she said, "Mother, lift me up." I put my arm under her and lifted my poor girl up, then she raised her eyes to heaven and whispered, "Jesus, I am coming; Jesus I am coming." The doctor who was standing by her side, said, "How can you sing when you are so weak?" She replied: "Jesus helps me to sing. Jesus helps me to sing." With these words upon her lips she died in my arms." The little hymn book was laid upon the girl's breast and buried with her.

Comet NEOWISE May get so bright it is visible with naked eye in July

A recently discovered comet known as NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) is speeding towards the sun in its orbit around our star, and some astronomers are predicting it may become visible to the naked eye by early July.

The comet, which was first spotted by NASA's NEOWISE space telescope on March 27, 2020, is currently more than 138 million miles from Earth and is set to make its closest approach to the sun on July 3.

Astronomers expect the comet to increase in brightness, reaching peak magnitude by July, when it could potentially be visible with the naked eye. However, the behavior of comets is notoriously unpredictable so it is difficult to estimate how bright it will get at this stage.

Comets are "cosmic snowballs" made up of frozen gases, dust and rock that orbit the sun. As they approach our star, these fragile constructs are blasted with increasing amounts of radiation, a process that often produces two vast tails of gas and dust.

"As comet-hunter and astronomy writer David H. Levy likes to say, 'Comets are like cats. They have tails and do what they want,'" Rick Fienberg, a spokesperson for the American Astronomical Society, told Newsweek. "There's definitely a chance that Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) will reach naked-eye brightness, but there's also a chance that it won't, and we have no way of knowing which outcome is more likely at this point.

"You'll recall there was lots of talk of Comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) reaching naked-eye visibility earlier this spring, and then it broke apart as it neared the sun, fading dramatically and never becoming the spectacle that it had been predicted to become. Same thing could happen here, or we could get luckier and have a bright comet in our skies next month."

When we measure the brightness of astronomical objects, the brighter an object is, the lower its magnitude. For example, an object with magnitude 2 is brighter than one that has a magnitude of 8. As of now, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Horizons system estimates Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3) to have a magnitude of around 10-referred to as 10th magnitude-and this same data indicates that it will peak at about 6th magnitude.

However, the Comet Observers Database (COD) says the comet is currently around 7th magnitude, and this estimate may be more accurate than the Horizons figure, because it uses an average of the values reported in recent observations.

'We Are All Children of God': Man Wrongly Imprisoned Saves Police Officer's Life following Fiery Car Crash - Christian Headlines

Despite false imprisonment and lawsuits, Daylan McLee put his life on the line for a police officer this weekend.

In Uniontown, Pennsylvania, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh, a police cruiser was involved in a car crash so loud McLee later recalled he thought it was a small earthquake. When he heard it was a crash, the 31-year-old black man raced out of his house and pulled Officer Jay Hanley from the car as flames engulfed the cruiser.

"There is value in every human life. We are all children of God and I can't imagine just watching anyone burn," McLee said, according to Fox News. "No matter what other people have done to me, or other officers, I thought, 'This guy deserves to make it home safely to his family.'"

Hanley was helicoptered to a hospital in West Virginia where he underwent surgery for a severe injury to his leg and is recovering.

Uniontown Police Lt. Thomas Kolencik got emotional thanking McLee for his bravery. "Daylan actually said, 'I'm not going to let him die,'" Kolencik said. "There's just no words to describe, you know."

Joining the chorus of gratitude were Hanley's relatives on social media and phone calls from Hanley's sister, fellow officers, and even the police chief.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]

We are reading through the whole Word, from Genesis to Revelation, and beginning again in Genesis when finished. [As of this writing, over the past three years, we have now "read through" the entire Word of God sixty-five times, nonstop. Hallelujah!]

Our numbers of readers continues to grow over time. All are welcome to join, as we use "the weapons of OUR warfare" to confront our enemy and BRING HIM DOWN through the LOVE of our Messiah and, by faith, setting captives free!

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

> > > A footnote: 2020 has been declared "the Year of the Bible."

Hallelujah!!

Please join us as, together, we "soak the very atmosphere of our nation" in the WORD OF GOD!

In closing, let us decree together that . . .
