Focus on Israel

1. Two senior Likud officials said urging Netanyahu to call fresh elections - Times of Israel

A pair of senior officials in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party have urged him to force new elections, according to a television report Saturday, as two opposition party chiefs said they would back legislation barring the premier from again forming a government due to his indictment on graft charges.

"The meaning of a two-year budget is that [Defense Minister Benny] Gantz will be prime minister," Channel 12 news quoted the two Likud officials saying.

The report came as Netanyahu remained at loggerheads with Gantz over the passage of a state budget, which they must approve by August 25 or the government will be dissolved. While the coalition deal between Likud and Gantz's Blue and White stipulates the coalition will pass a budget through 2021, Netanyahu is now calling for one that only covers the rest of the year, citing the uncertainty of the pandemic.

The coalition agreement also requires Netanyahu to hand over the premiership to Gantz if new elections new elections are called before the Blue and White chief takes over as prime minister in November 2021, an exception was made for a failure to pass a budget, leading to speculation the Likud leader was forcing the budget crisis to avoid having to leave office.

2. Gantz refuses to rule out law banning Netanyahu from serving as PM - Jerusalem Post

Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benny Gantz of Blue and White refused Saturday night to rule out backing legislation that would stop Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from serving as prime minister.

Gantz's comments come amid severe tensions within the coalition and the possibility that government ministers will not convene Sunday morning for the weekly cabinet meeting due to the crisis between Netanyahu and the Blue and White leader over the state budget.

As the divisions between the Likud and Blue and White have increased in recent weeks, and the allegations that Netanyahu is seeking new elections heightened, so too have calls from Gantz's former allies, now in the opposition, to pass legislation which would prevent an MK from forming a government if they are under indictment.

3. As budget deadline nears, ministers engage in heated debate over coalition's fate - Israel Hayom

A meeting designed to finalize new measures against the coronavirus pandemic ended with mutual recriminations between Blue and White and Likud over the future of the fragile unity government.

The special ministerial forum tasked with dealing with the virus had gathered on Sunday afternoon in order to deliberate on the future restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus, a day before they were to expire, but the ongoing disagreements over the upcoming deadline to pass a state budget soon resurfaced, leading to a shouting match.

Finance Minister Israel Katz, from Likud, turned to Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, asking for his party's support for a special budget for the poor. "Allow the measure, at a sum of 8.5 billion shekels ($2.5 billion) to pass, there is no reason why this should stall," Katz said, adding this must not be beholden to Blue and White's insistence on a two-year budget.

But Gantz retorted that Katz had violated the unity deal but refusing to plan for a two-year budget. "You never wanted to implement the deal," Gantz reportedly shouted.

4. Israel TV: Hezbollah apparently wanted Beirut's ammonium nitrate for Israel war - Times of Israel

Hezbollah apparently planned to use the ammonium nitrate stockpile that caused a massive bast at Beirut's port this week against Israel in a "Third Lebanon War," according to an unsourced assessment publicized on Israel's Channel 13 Friday night.

The report was broadcast hours after Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, gave a speech "categorically" denying that his group had stored any weapons or explosives at Beirut's port, following the massive explosion there Tuesday that has claimed over 157 lives and wounded thousands. "I would like to absolutely, categorically rule out anything belonging to us at the port. No weapons, no missiles, or bombs or rifles or even a bullet or ammonium nitrate," Nasrallah said. "No cache, no nothing. Not now, not ever."

Israel has not formally alleged that Hezbollah was connected to the Tuesday blast.

5. Gaza Terrorists Resume IED Balloon Attacks on Southern Israel - Jewish Press

Gaza terrorists this week again began to escalate balloon bombing and arson attacks on southern Israel, launching increasing numbers of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) attached to colorful clusters of balloons they have sent flying across the border towards southern Israeli communities.

Early Saturday morning, an IED was discovered attached to a cluster of balloons in a field near Kibbutz Nir Oz along the Gaza border. Israeli security personnel and police sappers were summoned to the site to neutralize the explosives while residents were prevented from reaching the area.

There were no injuries, and no property damage was reported.

1. FBI Lawyer Kevin Clinesmith To Plead Guilty, Falsified Doc FBI Used To Wiretap Trump Campaign - Western Journal

A former Federal Bureau of Investigation lawyer is expected to plead guilty to falsifying a document that the FBI used to secure a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to spy on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, according to his attorney and court documents made public Friday.

Lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who was assigned to the Russia investigation as part of his work in the FBI general counsel's office, plans to admit that he altered an email from the Central Intelligence Agency to make it say that Page was not a source for the CIA, even though Page had previously provided information for the agency, The New York Times reported.

The FBI relied on Clinesmith's information and did not disclose Page's relationship with the CIA in its application to renew a warrant to monitor Page as a possible foreign agent, according to The Washington Post.

"Kevin deeply regrets having altered the email," Justin Shur, Clinesmith's lawyer, said in a statement. "It was never his intent to mislead the court or his colleagues as he believed the information he relayed was accurate. But Kevin understands what he did was wrong and accepts responsibility. " (Read more)

- Father God, have Your will regarding Kevin Clinesmith's betrayal of President Trump through Carter Page. Let justice prevail. God, reverse all the intrusion the FBI used to wiretap President Trump's campaign. Reward our President with double honor, ultimate respect, godly intelligence, and overwhelming victory of winning the election as President of the United States in November 2020.

"God be merciful unto us (President Trump), and bless us (him); and cause Your face to shine upon us (him). O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for God shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth." (Psalm 67:1,4)

2. California Facing the Worst Power Grid Emergency in 14 Years - Bloomberg.com

California's grid operator is warning of possible rolling blackouts and calling on the state's utilities to start cutting power to some customers.

On late Friday, the California Independent System Operator declared a Stage 2 emergency for the first time since 2006, asking utilities across the state to curtail service to customers that had already agreed to disruptions when demand is high in return for incentive payments. The declaration means the grid manager is no longer able to meet demand without market intervention and shuttered power plants may be ordered back online.

California is taking these measures in the hopes of avoiding rolling blackouts as temperatures soar above 100 degrees in some parts of the state and people blast their air conditioners to keep cool. The heat is hitting at an especially vulnerable time for the region with the pandemic forcing people to remain at home.

Temperatures were forecast to reach 112 degrees Fahrenheit (44 Celsius) Friday in the San Joaquin Valley. Los Angeles could hit 96. If all other efforts fail to address the surge in electricity demand, the California ISO will have to impose "rotating power outages" under a Stage 3 emergency to avoid power failures, the grid operator said in a statement Friday. It would be the first time since the 2001 western U.S. energy crisis that such an emergency was called. As of 6 p.m. local time, the ISO's website showed a forecast peak in demand of roughly 47 gigawatts and 52 gigawatts in available capacity.(Read more)

- Father God, we pray for all 214,200 homes in the San Joaquin Valley affected by the extreme heat in their area. Father, use these circumstances as a method of awakening people's hearts toward heaven for help. God, accomplish all Your purposes by allowing this situation. We pray in the Name of Jesus, amen.

- "In my distress I cried to the LORD, and He answered me." (Psalm 120:1)

3. Scorching temperatures in Death Valley will shatter records in West, Southwest - NBC News

You know it's hot when Death Valley, California, breaks high temperature records. A long-duration, dangerous heat event is setting up for parts of the West that will begin Friday and last into next week.

More than 34 million people are under excessive heat watches and warnings across California and the Southwest. Most of the heat alerts go into effect on Friday and will stay in effect through early next week. During this time, dozens of record highs could be set in the coming days for cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, Tucson and Salt Lake City.

This heat event will be especially dangerous due to higher than normal humidity due to tropical moisture streaming into the region from what was Hurricane Elida, which has since dissipated.

"Usually, California heat waves mean a dry heat, which is a saving grace. But what's unusual here are the remnants of Hurricane Elida, which are adding significantly more moisture into the atmosphere and will make California much muggier," said Daniel Swain, a climate scientist at the University of California, Los Angeles. "The extra humidity makes a big difference in a bad way, from a public health perspective," Swain added.

. . . Death Valley, considered the hottest place on Earth, is forecast to reach 126 degrees on Sunday and 127 degrees on Monday. If this happens, that will be the hottest temperature recorded so late in the year. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we trust You deal with the souls of the 34 million who are currently affected by these extremely high temperatures. Speak to hearts to parallel eternity with the heat. Lord, touch hearts during this time. May the intensity of the heat press them to call out to God, "Save us, Jesus. Save us." In the Name of Jesus we pray.

"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." (Romans 10:9)

4. Trump admits he's blocking postal cash to stop mail-in votes - AP News

President Donald Trump frankly acknowledged Thursday that he's starving the U.S. Postal Service of money in order to make it harder to process an expected surge of mail-in ballots, which he worries could cost him the election.

In an interview on Fox Business Network, Trump explicitly noted two funding provisions that Democrats are seeking in a relief package that has stalled on Capitol Hill. Without the additional money, he said, the Postal Service won't have the resources to handle a flood of ballots from voters who are seeking to avoid polling places during the coronavirus pandemic.

"If we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money," Trump told host Maria Bartiromo. "That means they can't have universal mail-in voting; they just can't have it."

Trump's statements, including the false claim that Democrats are seeking universal mail-in voting, come as he is searching for a strategy to gain an advantage in his November matchup against Joe Biden. He's pairing the tough Postal Service stance in congressional negotiations with an increasingly robust mail-in-voting legal fight in states that could decide the election. (Read more)

- Father in heaven, we trust You will block the two funding provisions that Democrats are seeking in this relief package. God, we pray You will block any and all universal mail-in ballots that are sent as lethal weapons against President Trump's victory. Lord, dispatch myriads of angels to cover the difficult states so they will be guided to vote Your will. Touch President Trump and strengthen him with the might and power of You, Holy One. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

"The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Put-on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof." (Romans 13:12,14)

5. Supreme Court denies GOP request, allows Rhode Island pandemic-related relief on mail-in ballots - Washington Post

The Supreme Court on Thursday rebuffed the Republican Party and allowed a consent decree to go forward so that Rhode Island voters during the coronavirus pandemic could cast mail-in ballots without in-person witness verification.

It was the first time the justices had agreed to a pandemic-related voter relief effort. But they explained in a short, unsigned order that state officials had agreed to relax the rules, and the change already had been implemented during the June primary.

Unlike "similar cases where a state defends its own law, here the state election officials support the challenged decree, and no state official has expressed opposition," the order said. "Under these circumstances, the applicants lack a cognizable interest in the state's ability to enforce its duly enacted laws."

The vote was not announced, but Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch noted that they would have granted the stay requested by the Republican National Committee and the state Republican Party. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray that no illegal mail-in ballots be allowed nor counted. We pray the Name of Jesus completely cover every vote, every voter, every State, every ballot, and that this election be lawful and clean to the last vote cast. In the Name of Jesus we pray, amen.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you (President Trump), says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you (President Trump) and expected end. And I will be found of You, says the Lord." (Jeremiah 29:11)

6. Americans, go home: Tension at Canada-US border - BBC

As the pandemic continues to sweep the US, Canadians are getting more and more concerned about what American visitors could be bringing with them over the border. Built directly on the border of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia, the Peace Arch is a 67-foot high (20 metres) testament to the close ties between Canada and the US.

Inscribed on one side are the words "May these gates never be closed", a reminder of the nearly 8,891 km (5,525 miles) of un-militarised border that separates the two nations. For almost 100 years, those words have been heeded - until the coronavirus pandemic effectively shut the border indefinitely. The closure came into effect on 21 March, and was agreed upon by both governments. After being extended several times over the summer, it remains in effect until 21 September.

"I never thought I'd be sitting here mid-August and that border is still closed," says Len Saunders, a dual citizen who lives in Blaine. "It just seems to be dragging on and on and on with no end in sight."

While the border closure has had significant economic and personal repercussions for the millions of people that live along it or have loved ones on the other side, the vast majority of Canadians want it to stay shut. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that You instill in the hearts of all Americans and Canadians that each country will be protective of the other regarding this virus curse. We plead before the throne of God, that there will always be respect, peace and kindness between each of our countries, and neither shall endanger the other should they be infected with this virus. We trust God to protect each of us. In the holy Name of Jesus we pray, amen.

"Lift up your heads, O gates; and be lifted up, everlasting doors; and the King of Glory shall come in. And who is the King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. The Lord of Hosts, He is the King of Glory." (Psalm 24:7,8,10)

7. Senate leaves until September without coronavirus relief deal - UPI

Congressional lawmakers have left Capitol Hill for the remainder of the August recess, without a deal for the next COVID-19 relief package, which is expected to send another stimulus payment to most Americans. The House and Senate are now both on recess. House Democratic leaders and negotiators from the White House have worked this month to find a deal on another relief bill. Both chambers have crafted relief aid but the two sides remain far apart on certain provisions.

Unless negotiators reach an agreement, lawmakers will not return to Capitol Hill until September. The House is scheduled to return Sept. 14 and the Senate the second week of the month.

Adding to the uncertainty are both parties' national nominating conventions, which will be held over the next two weeks. The Democrats will stage theirs next week and the Republicans a week later.

"If [House Speaker Nancy Pelosi] and [Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer] decide to finally let another package move forward, it would take bipartisan consent to meet for legislative business sooner than scheduled," said Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

"I want you to see how vast our differences are," Pelosi told reporters Thursday. "It's no wonder we have a vast difference because this administration, other Republicans in Congress have never understood the gravity of this situation." (Read more)

- Father God, we pray Your will takes precedence over the Senate and the House and all legislative business. By the power of God, we ask that You strike down the manipulative, deceiving spirits that seek to control their actions. Remove their strength, initiative, and intelligence to perform any deceptive plans. Amen.

- "But evil men and impostors will grow worse, and worse, deceiving and being deceived." (2 Timothy 3:10 )

"Thus says the Lord, I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath." (Jeremiah 21:5)

8. US proposal to extend Iran arms embargo fails in overwhelming Security Council defeat - Washington Examiner

An American effort to extend an international arms embargo on Iran failed to pass the United Nations Security Council, setting the stage for a showdown over the fate of the 2015 nuclear deal. "The Security Council's failure to act decisively in defense of international peace and security is inexcusable," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday evening.

Such a maneuver would require Pompeo to fulfill his threat to invoke a provision of the 2015 deal that allows the United States to shred the entire nuclear deal over the objections of the other participants, two years after Trump withdrew from the pact. "The United States will never abandon our friends in the region who expected more from the Security Council," Pompeo said Friday. "We will continue to work to ensure that the theocratic terror regime does not have the freedom to purchase and sell weapons that threaten the heart of Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Arab nations and Israel strongly supported extending the embargo," Pompeo said. "These countries know Iran will spread even greater chaos and destruction if the embargo expires, but the Security Council chose to ignore them."

President Trump's administration and Middle Eastern allies had hoped to forestall Russia and China from selling an array of new weapons to Tehran. It reflects a split not only with Moscow and Beijing but with the European allies who helped negotiate the nuclear agreement that began the countdown to the expiration of the arms embargo.

The final result was two votes in favor of the American resolution and two votes against, while the remaining 11 countries abstained - far below the nine votes in favor and zero vetoes needed for a win.

"Today's vote shows that Europe remains paralyzed in acting to counter Iran's regional aggression," the Foundation for Defense of Democracies research analyst Andrea Stricker said. "It is beholden to maintaining the flawed nuclear deal, whose restrictions will soon lift. The way is now paved for Washington to exercise its right to snap back all UN resolutions against the Islamic Republic which prohibit arms and military transfers."(Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray that all future deals that the UN Security Council attempts to make will be met with total defeat by Your hand. We pray for international peace and security to be re-established with the sound voice of God. Pull down the powers of the UNSC. Crush any future theocratic terror regime from purchasing/selling weapons. God, call President Trump to exercise his right to cancel all UN resolutions against the Islamic Republic which allow arms and military transfers. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

"But the Lord is with us (America) as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed, for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten." (Jeremiah 20:11)

9. US confiscates four Iranian oil tankers, cargo on way to Venezuela - JNS News

The United States confiscated tankers allegedly consisting of Iranian fuel in violation of sanctions, reported The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, citing U.S. officials. U.S. federal prosecutors filed a civil forfeiture complaint to confiscate four tankers at sea-Luna, Pandi, Bering and Bella-consisting of Iranian oil on their way to Venezuela, in an apparent attempt to circumvent sanctions. The four vessels are on their way to Houston, reported The Wall Street Journal, writing that "senior administration officials are expected to meet the tankers at an event scheduled to mark the docking."

Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Zia Faruqui filed the complaint. In it, he said that proceeds from oil sales through Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps support its "full range of nefarious activities, including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, support for terrorism and a variety of human-rights abuses, at home and abroad."

The administration hopes the seizures will deter shipping companies from dealing with Iran and Venezuela, said senior U.S. officials. Iran and Venezuela have increasingly been relying on the private sector and/or illegal markets to carry oil and energy products, wrote the paper. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray Iran's lawlessness be exposed in every detail. We thank that the four illegal Iranian tankers at sea have been confiscated and are on their way to Houston. God, we pray that Iran and Venezuela be charged and stopped from carrying oil and energy products illegally. Block the communication lines that enable them to be lawless and without penalty. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

"The Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered His voice. And He sent out arrows, and scattered them: lightning and discomfited them."
(II Samuel 22:14-15)

10. DOJ targets Hamas, al Qaeda, and ISIS in 'largest ever' terror-related crypto seizure - Washington Examiner

The Justice Department announced the seizure of terrorism-related cryptocurrency on Thursday following the successful takedown of cyber-enabled finance networks operated by the Islamic State, Hamas's al Qassam Brigades, and al Qaeda.

"These three terror finance campaigns all relied on sophisticated cyber-tools, including the solicitation of cryptocurrency donations from around the world," the Justice Department said in a statement. "The action demonstrates how different terrorist groups have similarly adapted their terror finance activities to the cyber age. Each group used cryptocurrency and social media to garner attention and raise funds for their terror campaigns. Pursuant to judicially-authorized warrants, U.S. authorities seized millions of dollars, over 300 cryptocurrency accounts, four websites, and four Facebook pages all related to the criminal enterprise."

The Justice Department, which has billed it the "largest ever seizure of terrorist organizations' cryptocurrency accounts," also unsealed three civil forfeiture complaints totaling 87 pages detailing efforts by Homeland Security Investigations, the IRS Criminal Investigations, and the FBI to take down a host of terrorist websites and to seize numerous bank accounts and hundreds of cryptocurrency accounts. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia also unsealed a 14-page criminal affidavit charging Turkish nationals Mehmet Akti and Husamettin Karatas for allegedly operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and engaging in money laundering, including to assist terrorist groups. And the Justice Department said ISIS engaged in coronavirus-related fraud to raise money for their terrorist operations.

Attorney General William Barr said that "it should not surprise anyone that our enemies use modern technology, social media platforms and cryptocurrency to facilitate their evil and violent agendas" and added that the Justice Department "will employ all available resources to protect the lives and safety of the American public from terrorist groups," including going after their money laundering efforts and terrorist financing worldwide. FBI Director Christopher Wray said the FBI would continue to "combat illicit terrorist financing regardless of platform or method employed by our adversaries" and the bureau "remains committed to cutting off the financial lifeblood of these organizations that seek to harm Americans at home and abroad." (Read more)

- Almighty God, yesterday we prayed and asked that You would strengthen the hands of those who are working inside the Department of Justice. And now today, we see the huge impact of their mission, which protects our people. Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of praying for this key agency in our federal government.

Today we pray that You will dispatch myriads of angels from heaven to come and fight against each and every terrorist organization that is a participant in this cryptocurrency criminal enterprise. Scatter them, Lord Jesus, dry them up, shrivel all their efforts, reveal their deepest secrets that none be hidden. Wipe them off the face of the earth, my Lord. In the Name of Jesus.

"The Lord said, "Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad." (II Samuel 22:43)

Reconciling the irreconcilable

Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden has said and done some racist things in the not so distant past, and his now running mate, Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) was a most critical opponent-before she was chosen as Biden's Vice Presidential candidate. Now, she is saying that she didn't mean her racist claims about Biden. That it was just politics. We have to ask ourselves if that's how Democratic Party politicians view the issues they are promoting-just the game of politics. They are stirring up violence in the streets, demanding the defunding of law enforcement, allowing lawlessness to prevail over racial divisions and now their top candidate is saying her racial accusations were just "politics." What gives?

This was Harris during the July 31, 2019 Democratic Presidential debate: "When Vice President Biden was in the United States Senate working with segregationists to oppose busing, which was the vehicle by which we would integrate America's public schools, had I been in the United States Senate at that time I would have been on the other side of the aisle." Harris was relentless pointing out ,"It was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing. There was a little girl in California who was part of the second class to integrate her public schools and she was bussed to school every day. That little girl was me. So I will tell you that on this subject, it cannot be an intellectual debate. We have to take it seriously."

Fast forward to August 16th on the CBS Late Show. Stephen Colbert asked Harris how she went from being a passionate opponent to becoming pals? She laughed off the question, saying it was a debate. Colbert replied, "So, you don't mean it?" Harris responded, "It was a debate. The whole evening, literally, it was a debate. It was called a debate. There were journalists covering the debate." Harris's accusations a year ago that Biden supported racism and worked in the Senate to continue the Jim Crow segregation laws against black Americans are extraordinarily serious, yet today she passes these off as just "a debate." How can any of us believe that either Biden or Harris are serious about ending racism and are only pandering for votes?

I'm pretty sure the victims of the riots and looters in Portland, Seattle, Chicago and other places across the country don't think this is just "a debate." This is not just a game. Or is it? Are candidates for office sincere about their beliefs or are they just telling you what you want to hear? Proverbs 6:16-19 states, "These six things does the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren." Is it any surprise that Harris can laugh off Biden's racist actions as just "a debate," something only a year ago she said could not be part of an "intellectual debate," but had to be taken seriously based on principle?

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM

"I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live."(Psalm 146:2)

Lyrics

Praise Him, praise Him-Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
Sing, O earth, His wonderful love proclaim.
Hail Him! hail Him! highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long:
O ye saints that dwell on the mountain of Zion,
Praise Him, praise Him ever in joyful song.

Praise Him, praise Him-Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died;
He our rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him, hail Him, Jesus the Crucified.
Loving Savior, meekly enduring sorrow,
Crowned with thorns that cruelly pierced His brow;
Once for us rejected, despised and forsaken,
Prince of Glory, He is triumphant now.

Praise Him, praise Him-Jesus, our blessèd Redeemer,
Heav'nly portals loud with hosannas ring,
Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever.
Crown Him! Crown Him-Prophet, and Priest, and King!
Death is vanquished! Tell it with joy, ye faithful.
Where is now thy victory, boasting grave?
Jesus lives! No longer thy portals are cheerless;
Jesus lives, the mighty and strong to save.

Freak Summer Fire-Ice Hail Storm hits California: As Written in Exodus

Recently, the National Weather Service issued its first-ever warning for a tornado caused by fire. A wind vortex generated by a wildfire in Northern California created a pyrocumulonimbus cloud.

Such clouds generated by extreme heat like that found in a wildfire or volcanic eruption can be accompanied by tornados of fire, hail, and lightning. Dubbed firenadoes, the combined effects of these phenomena can cause greatly increased fire-spread and cause direct dangers on the ground in addition to 'normal' fires.

"A pyrocumulonimbus from the Loyalton Fire is capable of producing a fire-induced tornado and outflow winds in excess of 60 mph," the weather service warned. "It was located south of Chilcoot and is nearly stationary. This is extremely dangerous for firefighters."

Firenadoes are among the rarest weather phenomena on Earth with only one other such event being well-documented to date. And this one had the distinction of possibly being the strongest tornado in California's history with surface winds that exceeded 143 mph, making it the equivalent of an EF3 tornado on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. Preliminary reports included the collapse of high tension power line towers, uprooted trees, and the complete removal of tree bark.

The conditions for the firenado began when a wildfire was reported on Friday afternoon, sending 300 firefighters from local agencies and the U.S. Forest Service to fight the fires. Despite their best efforts, by Saturday, the blaze spread to more than 2,000 acres and was only 5% contained.

The NWS Reno office issued a warning that the fire tornadoes may be accompanied by penny-sized hail

Fire tornadoes are very rare and little is known about them, but they can be deadly. In December 2019, two firefighting vehicles, one weighing upwards of ten tons, were flipped over by the vortexes. The incident resulted in one fatality and injuries to two others. (Breaking Israel\ News) To read more, including a Scripture that may refer to this rare phenomenon, go here.

'We Are in a Critical Time':

Christian Leaders Call for Revival, Repentance With Global Prayer Event

Faith leaders are calling on people around the globe to humble themselves and pray and repent as the world continues to wrestle with plague, unrest, and division.

The Return: National and Global Day of Prayer and Repentance will take place on September 26 at the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Pastor Kevin Jessip and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Cahn are petitioning thousands of churches and Americans to converge on the National Mall for revival. "Without revival, America and its future will be lost," the pastor and scholar wrote in a recent article.

According to them, the United States is in "deep trouble" and needs God's forgiveness. That can only come through prayer and repentance.

"We have a window of time we may never have again. Most of us don't want to look at the negative, but a few positive glimmers here and there give a false sense of security to what is really happening in our nation," they wrote.

Spiritual leaders such as Dr. James Dobson, Marcus Lamb, Bishop Harry Jackson, Alveda King, Anne Graham Lotz, Pat and Gordon Robertson, and many others are urging Americans to participate. (Breaking Christian News/CBN)

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
