Focus on Israel

1. Hamas, Hezbollah leaders agree to join forces against Israel - Israel Hayom

Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah and leader of Hamas in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh met in Nasrallah's office in Beirut on Saturday night.

Other senior members of Hamas attended the meeting.

The ties between the two terrorist organizations, and between them and Iran, became clear when Haniyeh not only attended, but took an active part in the funeral of former Quds Force commander Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimni, who was killed in a US airstrike this past January.

The meeting between Haniyeh and Narallah, who is effectively a protégé of Iran and even sent Hezbollah forces to fight Iran's proxy war in Syria, indicates that Hamas is drawing closer to Tehran.

Neither Hamas nor Hezbollah bothered to hide that the Beirut meeting had been called to discuss opposition to the Trump administration peace plan; "total opposition" to any Arab state normalizing relations with Israel; and setting up a unified "opposition axis" to combat pressure and threats.

2. Netanyahu Postpones Coronavirus Cabinet Lockdown Vote - Jewish Press

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu postponed a meeting of the Coronavirus Cabinet on Sunday in a last-minute effort to avoid a head-on collision between heads of the strictly Orthodox parties and Coronavirus Czar Professor Roni Gamzu over a decision on how to deal with rising COVID-19 morbidity in "red" cities around Israel.

Mayors of the hareidi (strictly Orthodox) cities on the "red list" had already told Gamzu and the prime minister that they will not be able to stop their residents from defying a full-fledged lockdown; they warned that local authorities will stop cooperating with the government on the coronavirus crisis and appealed to Netanyahu not to impose a lockdown targeting hareidi cities.

The prime minister delayed the meeting, set for 4:30 pm, after meeting with (Shas) Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and (UTJ) Housing Minister Yaakov Litzman to discuss the issue - including the fact that Israel marked its 1,000th death from COVID-19 and reached an infection rate of more than 10 percent this weekend. UTJ (United Torah Judaism) Knesset Member Moshe Gafni, National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat and Science & Technology Minister Yitzhar Shai also attended the meeting, according to Ynet.

3. Arab Israeli allegedly recruited by Hamas to carry out major terrorist attack- Israel Hayom

Cleared for publication: The Shin Bet security agency recently foiled a Hamas plot to bomb a major bus station in central Israel. An Israeli Arab allegedly recruited by the Gaza-based terrorist group was slated to carry out the attack but was arrested before he could put the plan into motion.

According to details made available on Monday the suspect, Mahmoud Mekdad, 30, is an Arab Israeli resident of the Negev Bedouin town of Segev Shalom. He married a Gazan woman and divided his time between Israel and the coastal enclave.

The plot, which included detonating explosives in Bilu junction in central Israel, was foiled due to the joint efforts of the Shin Bet and Israel Police.

The investigation into the plan revealed that Mekdad, who was arrested several weeks ago, had been recruited by Hamas to carry out the attack.

4. Malawi to move embassy to Jerusalem - JNS

(September 6, 2020 / JNS) Malawi's President Lazarus Chakwera said on Saturday that his country intends to establish an embassy in Jerusalem. The country in southeastern Africa will be the first African nation to establish an embassy in Jerusalem.

Chakwera, who promised reforms after taking office in June, said in his announcement on Saturday that "the reforms will also include a review of our diplomatic presence, including our resolve to have new diplomatic missions in Lagos, Nigeria and Jerusalem, Israel. I will be sharing more details about this in the near future."

Malawi has had diplomatic relations with Israel since 1964, refusing to budge when it came under pressure to sever relations with the Jewish state following the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Lesotho, South Africa and Swaziland also maintained diplomatic relations.

5. Serbia to move embassy to Jerusalem; mostly Muslim Kosovo to recognize Israel - Times of Israel

WASHINGTON - Serbia announced Friday that it would move its embassy to Jerusalem, while Muslim majority Kosovo is to recognize Israel. The moves come as part of US-brokered discussions to normalize economic ties between Belgrade and Pristina.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the moves and said Israel would establish diplomatic relations with Kosovo.

After two days of meetings with Trump administration officials, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo's Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti agreed to cooperate on a range of economic fronts to attract investment and create jobs. The White House announcement provided US President Donald Trump with a diplomatic win ahead of the November presidential election and furthers his administration's push to improve Israel's international standing.

- Father God, we rejoice as we see more and more nations recognizing Israel's sovereignty and aligning themselves with Zion in coming days. We rejoice that these three nations -- Malawi, Kosovo, and Serbia -- have now joined the growing numbers who are no longer goat nations, but those who publicaly support the nation of Israel. May each one now receive the blessing promised to them in Your Word of Genesis 12:3.

- "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

1. Fauci warns these 7 states are at risk for COVID-19 surge over Labor Day weekend - New York Post

Residents of seven Midwest states need to be on high alert for catching COVID-19 over Labor Day weekend, Dr. Anthony Fauci cautioned.

"There are several states that are at risk for surging, namely North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois," Fauci, the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told Bloomberg in an interview published Thursday.

"Those states are starting to see an increase in the percent positive of their testing; that is generally predictive that there's going to be a problem."

Illinois is currently the riskiest state with the most confirmed cases compared to the other six, John Hopkins University data shows. There's 241,704 confirmed cases in the Prairie State; 96,854 in Indiana; 89,639 in Missouri; 67,692 in Iowa; 63,081 in Arkansas; 14,337 in South Dakota; and 12,977 in North Dakota, Newsweek reported. (Read more)

- Father, at we pray that these words fall to the ground, and we break every curse that is formed within them. We apply the cross of Christ to this nation and appropriate the healing power of His precious Blood to every part of the country. We pray earnestly for a move of repentance from sea to sea, and for an end to the curse of the coronavirus.

"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."
(Isaiah 53:5)

2. Judge bars Census Bureau from ending count - Fox News

A federal judge ruled that the U.S. Census Bureau must hold off on winding down operations, at least until a hearing later this month.

The bureau was looking to wrap up at the end of September, despite previously pushing their deadline from July to October due to the coronavirus pandemic, but jurisdictions and groups suing the agency claimed that this could impact the accuracy of the count -- specifically by overlooking minority populations -- which determines congressional representation and federal funding.

Judge Lucy Koh stated in a Saturday order that a lawsuit against the Census Bureau identified legitimate concerns regarding compliance with the Administrative Procedure Act, which could impact the public interest of a fair and accurate count.

"Thus, the balance of the hardships and public interest tip sharply in Plaintiffs' favor," Koh said. (Read more)

- Father, let Your will and only Your will be done over this issue. We bind any attempts to pad the numbers, and ask that only the truth be involved in this census.

- "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight." (Proverbs 12:22)

3. Over 120 black leaders blast systemic racism within Planned Parenthood: 'Too many black lives lost to abortion' - Christian Post

Over 120 black American leaders in both parties have signed a document addressed to Planned Parenthood, urging it to confront systemic racism inherent in the abortion industry and the legacy of its founder, Margaret Sanger.

"Today, we are saying emphatically and unequivocally that Planned Parenthood must confront its racist founding, mission and practices. Too many Black lives have been lost to abortion. All Black lives matter," the letter reads.

Among those who have signed the letter are Louisiana state Senator Katrina Jackson, Georgia state representative Mack Jackson, and Michigan's Kent County Commissioner Monica Sparks, all of whom are Democrats. Black Republican signers include Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill and Texas state representative James White. Conservative think tank Heritage Foundation President Kay Coles James, former NFL star Benjamin Watson and pro-life activist Alveda King, who is the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. also signed the letter.

Pro-life advocates have long pointed out that the vast majority of Planned Parenthood clinics are located in predominantly racial minority neighborhoods. (Read more)

- Lord, thank You that these pastors have seen the hidden issue with abortion for the Black community. We pray that You will move through those communities, revealing truth and bringing life to all.

- "He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

4. Joe Biden names Pete Buttigieg, Susan Rice, and others to transition team - Washington Examiner

Joe Biden is expanding his transition team as the day of the election grows closer.

Among that cast of characters are Biden's former competitor Pete Buttigieg and former President Barack Obama's national security adviser Susan Rice. The pair will be part of Biden's 15-person advisory board. Other additions to the board include former Obama administration officials such as Sally Yates, the former deputy attorney general, and Vivek Murthy, the former surgeon general. Murthy has advised the Biden campaign on the coronavirus pandemic.

An announcement of the additions to the team came on Saturday.

The Biden team is also adding four co-chairs who will work alongside transition co-chair Ted Kaufman.

These individuals include Jeffrey Zients, a top economic adviser for Obama; Michelle Lujan Grisham, the governor of New Mexico; Cedric Richmond, a congressman from Louisiana; and Anita Dunn, a senior campaign adviser.

"We are preparing for this transition amid the backdrop of a global health crisis and struggling economy. This is a transition like no other, and the team being assembled will help Joe Biden meet the urgent challenges facing our country on day one," Kaufman said in a statement. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray on our knees before You that this leftwing group of people will not become our leaders. Please do not give us what we deserve, but bring grace, mercy, forgiveness, life, hope and resurrection to our nation.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." (John 10:10)

5. Pentagon: Chinese Air Force fast-becoming massive threat -Fox News

New attack drones, 5th-generation stealth fighter jets, reconfigured cargo planes and Russian-built air defenses are making China's Air Force even deadlier. In fact, all of these advances present a great concern to U.S. war planners.

The size of the People's Liberation Army Air Force is reported to include a total of 2,500 aircraft, making it the third-largest in the world, according to the Pentagon's 2020 China Military Power report.

U.S. threat assessors are not merely concerned about the size of the Chinese Air Force but the increasing technical sophistication and multi-mission tactics with which it operates. For instance, as part of its discussion of Chinese airpower, the report notes that China operates highly advanced, Russian-built S-400 and S-500 air defenses.

These systems, among the best in the world, increasingly use networked digital processors, faster computer speeds and a wider range of frequencies to detect aircraft. Russian media reports have claimed that their air defenses can even track stealth aircraft, a claim that has yet to be formally verified. (Read more)

- Father, we pray for protection for not only all citizens against this threat, but also a special covering of protection for our troops in all branches.

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper." (Isaiah 54:17a)

6. Anti-Trump group calling for nationwide protests gathers in Chicago - Fox News

An anti-Trump group called for nationwide protests on Saturday -- seeking to fuel the left-wing protests that have roiled the country throughout the summer.

The left-wing group "Refuse Fascism" was organizing nationwide events, in places like New York City, Cleveland, Philadelphia and the Hatfield Courthouse in Portland -- where protests and riots have hit the federal property for more than 100 days.

Hundreds gathered at Federal Plaza in Chicago Saturday afternoon, escorted by dozens of police officers.

Some wore Trump masks and some held signs that read, "Flush the turd." Other signs read "Trump/Pence out now," while some speakers said they won't wait until November to remove the Trump administration from power. (Read more)

- Lord, we rebuke these spirits of hate and murder, and declare them void of power. We pray that Your Spirit would rise up against them and drive them out of our cities and towns all across the nation.

"So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19)

7. Nation's largest police union explains 'overwhelmingly' unanimous Trump endorsement - Fox News

The head of the nation's largest police union said Saturday that members endorsed President Trump for reelection because of his strong call for law and order.

"Overwhelmingly it was unanimous to support President Trump," Fraternal Order of Police Presdient Patrick Yoes said on "Cavuto Live."

We've worked very closely with President Trump over the last four years on many initiatives," Yoes said. "One of them was the First Step Act, which is the largest police reform act that's happened in recent time. And we were very proud to be the only labor organization that stood and recognized that we want to find ways to improve and better the criminal justice system."

Yoes said his 350,000-member organization has also worked with Trump on his executive orders amid a stalemate in Congress. The endorsement was announced Friday. (Read more)

- Father we thank You for this endorsement for President Trump. We pray that it will go far toward both encouraging him and helping him get re-elected.

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)

8. Pollak: Eight Years Later, Andrew Breitbart Vindicated on Critical Race Theory - Breitbart

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he had ordered the federal government to stop promoting "Critical Race Theory" in any of its agencies.

The radical theory had been used to train (or indoctrinate) federal employees, who were told during some "diversity" training sessions that the United States is a racist society, and white people are to blame.

The Critical Race Theory training was exposed by Christopher Rufo, a contributing editor for the Manhattan Institute's City Journal.

Yet the first to sound the alarm was Andrew Breitbart.

In a story that was only published after his death in March 2012, video that Breitbart had teased at the Conservative Political Action Conference just weeks before was finally released. It showed a young Barack Obama speaking at a protest at Harvard Law School in favor of Professor Derrick Bell, who had clashed with the university over the issue of faculty diversity.

More than that, Bell was the founder of the doctrine of Critical Race Theory.

Critical Race Theory holds that the United States is racist by design, because its Constitution and all of its other institutions emerged in a context where slavery was legal. According to the theory, the very institution of private property in the U.S. is corrupt because it was enshrined in a system that saw black people as chattels. (Read more)

- Lord, we are so grateful for the President removing this seed of destruction and division from our Federal employees. We can only move into unity if our people are taught truth rather than constant negative thoughts.

"For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." (Galatians 6:8)

9. Exclusive: Nearly 700 U.S. Veterans Issue Open Letter in Support of Trump - Breitbart

Nearly 700 American veterans have issued an open letter affirming their support of President Trump against establishment media attacks weeks before the 2020 presidential election.

This week, The Atlantic journalist Jeffrey Goldberg published a story citing anonymous sources, claiming that Trump did not want to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery at the site of Battle of Belleau Wood in 2018. The story, citing those anonymous sources, claims Trump called the cemetery "filled with losers" and referred to fallen soldiers who died at Belleau Wood as "suckers."

In an open letter obtained exclusively by Breitbart News, about 674 veterans wrote that their support for Trump, against attacks by the establishment media, remains unwavering because of his record of supporting the United States military and ending foreign wars.

"Recent baseless media attacks against President Trump from anonymous sources are just another example of the depths to which the President's opponents are willing to descend to divide the nation and meddle in this election," the veterans write.

"Anyone who knows President Trump has seen his love and reverence for our military and veterans. That is why we, veterans from every generation, are writing today to reaffirm our support for President Trump. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord that these veterans recognized a lie from the mainstream news media. We ask that these truths will be revealed to every American. We have seen the heart of our President care about veterans and wounded warriors across the nation. We ask that You visit Mr Goldberg and all within the MSM to show them the error of their path.

"Now what will you do in the day of punishment,
And in the devastation which will come from afar?
To whom will you flee for help?
And where will you leave your wealth?"
 (Isaiah 10:3)

10. Mnuchin: GOP, Pelosi to agree on continuing resolution to avoid shutdown, as stimulus talks stall - Fox News

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Sunday that while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refusing to negotiate a new coronavirus stimulus package unless Republicans are willing to spend at least $2.5 trillion, she has agreed to a continuing resolution that will keep the government from shutting down.

"We are going to do a clean CR," Mnuchin told "Fox News Sunday," saying that while it is uncertain how long it will keep the government going, he believes it would go "through the beginning of December."

Mnuchin said he hopes progress will be made on the continuing resolution "by the end of the week."

The secretary said that the CR will be separate from negotiations for a new CARES Act-like stimulus bill. He that said while Pelosi wants a large-scale package, he believes a narrower approach is more prudent at this time. (Read more)

- Lord, so many Americans are hanging in the balance with these stalled talks. We pray for Your mercy over all who are struggling at this time.

- "Mercy triumphs over judgment." (James 2:13b)

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

IF, ON A QUIET SEA

"The just shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17)

Lyrics

If, on a quiet sea, Toward Heaven we calmly sail,
With grateful hearts, O God, to Thee,
We'll own the favoring gale,
With grateful hearts, O God, to Thee,
We'll own the favoring gale.

But should the surges rise,
And rest delay to come,
Blest be the tempest, kind the storm,
Which drives us nearer home,
Blest be the tempest, kind the storm,
Which drives us nearer home.

Soon shall our doubts and fears
All yield to Thy control;
Thy tender mercies shall illume
The midnight of the soul,
Thy tender mercies shall illume
The midnight of the soul.

Teach us, in every state,
To make Thy will our own;
And when the joys of sense depart,
To live by faith alone,
And when the joys of sense depart,
To live by faith alone.

Signs and Wonders

The California Independent System Operator (ISO) declared a "Stage 2" power emergency late on Saturday, warning that rotating power outages were possible amid a record heat wave.

A Stage 2 power emergency means the ISO has taken all mitigating actions but can no longer provide its expected energy requirements.

Temperatures of up to 125 degrees Fahrenheit (49 Celsius) were set to punish California through the Labor Day weekend, raising the risk of wildfires and rolling blackouts.

California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday declared a state of emergency, a proclamation that allows power plants to operate beyond normal limits through the three-day holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast a heat wave carrying "rare, dangerous and very possibly fatal" temperatures across Southern California for the holiday weekend.

State officials urged Californians to turn off unnecessary appliances and lights to help avoid blackouts from an overwhelmed power grid.

Authorities also asked power generators to delay any maintenance until after the weekend to prevent blackouts like the two nights of rolling outages in mid-August as residents cranked up their air conditioning.

Israeli Archaeologists Uncover Remains of Majestic First-Temple Era Building in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM, Israel - Israeli archaeologists unveiled a rare collection of column heads from the First Temple period at the Armon Hanatziv promenade in Jerusalem.

These stone artifacts made of limestone are adorned with ornate carvings and date back to the time of the Judean kings. Experts believed they are remnants of a grand mansion that overlooked the Temple Mount and Jerusalem's Old City.

The three-pillar heads - or "capitals" - are carved with an ancient symbol representing the Jewish kingdoms of Judah and Israel. The same symbol is printed today on the five shekel coin in Israel.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
