Today's Prayer Focus:

TRUSTING GOD

Today’s Verse #1

Today's Verse:

PSALM 143: 8-10

It is written:

Let me hear Your faithfulness in the morning,
For I trust in You;
Teach me the way in which I should walk;
For to You I lift up my soul.
Save me, Lord, from my enemies;
take refuge in You.

Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Today’s Meditation

Today's Meditation:

The Story of Joseph

Trusting God is easy when life is going our way; but to trust Him when circumstances seem to be the opposite is almost impossible . .

How can we learn to do this?

Scripture provides one glaring example of this principle: the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, recorded in Genesis, Chapters 37-50.

Joseph's cruel brothers were filled with jealousy at his coat of many colors, representing their father's love for him. In anger, the brothers threw Joseph into the bottom of a deep well, leaving him there to die. In time, they pulled him out and sold him as a slave to a traveling Arab\ caravan . . .

BUT GOD!

Our amazing GOD had a totally different plan for his life. Abba rescued him from the pit he was in; and over time caused him to gain favor in the court of Pharoah.

Seven years later, when Egypt was in famine, Joseph's brothers found the courage to approach Pharoah for help. And guess who was there to answer their need?

JOSEPH!

Instead of returning the vengeance due them, Joseph instead showed them great mercy and kindness, providing all the assistance they needed.

And in the end, Joseph could then see the whole plan that God had in store for his life: one he could not see when he was in that pit, but which he could see now.

Joyfully, he proclaimed:

"As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive."

Today’s Prayer

Today's Prayer:

"Father God, today many of us feel like we have been thrown into a pit, and we freely acknowledge that we do not understand what is happening to us. Lord God, help us to recall Your absolute faithfulness to Your people, time and time again, as recorded in Scripture. We thank You, Holy One, that You are a faithful God who sees all and has all under Your control. Forgive us for our own short-sightedness and bring us to a new level of faith, by Your grace. We ask this in Your name, amen."

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much"  (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."  [Romans 13:1]
