Inside today's White House summit on reopening American schools
Tuesday, July 7, 2020
In the weeks ahead, educators and government officials at the state and local level will be making important decisions about when to safely reopen America's schools.
"Our shared goal should be to have students physically present in school this fall if at all possible," the President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Sally Goza, said at a White House summit today on Safely Reopening America's Schools.
President Trump and his Administration know that schools are a crucial part of every American community. More than $13 billion from the President's CARES Act is dedicated to helping schools navigate the extraordinary challenges presented by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Today's White House summit brought together health and education officials from across government and society, including Dr. Deborah Birx, Health & Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. Panels featured state and local leaders, healthcare professionals, school administrators, teachers, and parents.
First Lady Melania Trump-whose Be Best initiative focuses on improving child well-being-and Second Lady Karen Pence, a teacher, both joined the summit, as did President Trump and Vice President Pence.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP, offered this statement urging local governments to reopen schools this fall: "The importance of in-person learning is well-documented, and there is already evidence of the negative impacts on children because of school closures in the spring of 2020."
Long periods away from school, the AAP says, interrupts support services for children and often results in social isolation. These factors make it "difficult for schools to identify and address important learning deficits as well as child and adolescent physical or sexual abuse, substance use, depression, and suicidal ideation," they add.
"This, in turn, places children and adolescents at considerable risk."
Focus on Israel
1. Nasrallah says Hezbollah 'ready to do anything' to prevent annexation - Times of Israel
The leader of the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group on Tuesday vowed to prevent Israel's annexation of parts of the West Bank.
"We support the Palestinian people and its leadership, and are ready to do anything to block and prevent the annexation plan," said Hassan Nasrallah.
Nasrallah also claimed he received a message recently from the head of the Gaza-based Hamas terror group, Ismail Haniyeh.
"We must stand alongside our brothers, the Palestinians, as one people, as a nation and a resistance," Nasrallah said.
He was speaking on a Hezbollah TV broadcast to mark the anniversary of the start of the Second Lebanon War.
2. Katz and Netanyahu fail to present economic plan, despite pledge - Jerusalem Post
Israeli society, faced with one million jobs lost due to the coronavirus pandemic, mounting civic unrest and increasing reports of families requesting food charity to sustain themselves, looked to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for answers.
Up until now it hasn't gotten any. Finance Minister Israel Katz and Netanyahu failed to present a workable financial program to the nation.
Details about the plan Katz is pushing for include the extension of unemployment benefits until June 2021, a suspension of mortgage payments, business loans to be offered by the state to the tune of NIS 23 billion and offering extra aid to those over the age of 67 who face unemployment, Channel 13 reported.
3. Coalition tensions boil over as lawmakers spar over judiciary - Israel Hayom
The shaky coalition between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz was on the verge of collapse on Wednesday due to a new proposal to scrutinize the judiciary, once again making the prospect of an early election very real.
A controversial bill that would create a formal commission of inquiry to examine judges' conflicts of interests was put up for a vote on Wednesday, with Gantz's Blue and White faction saying they would not let it pass.
The measure was ultimately defeated by a vote of 54 to 43 after many lawmakers from Netanyahu's Likud party failed to show up.
This means that for the time being, at least until another vote is held on the matter, the coalition is likely to remain intact.
4. Gantz enters quarantine after coming into contact with coronavirus carrier - Times of Israel
Defense Minister Benny Gantz entered quarantine on Wednesday after coming into contact with a confirmed coronavirus carrier, his office said.
"Gantz feels good and will continue to manage the ministry's matters and the rest of his public work from isolation," his office said.
According to his spokesperson, Gantz came into contact with the confirmed coronavirus carrier a week and a half ago, last Sunday evening.
"Out of concerns of exposure from a desire and a responsibility to prevent spreading [the virus] and following consultation with medical authorities, Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz decided to enter quarantine until a coronavirus test and an epidemiological survey are completed," his office said.
It said the carrier he had come in contact with was a member of his family.
5. Netanyahu lawyer quits after PM's legal aid request snubbed - YNET News
One of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's top defense lawyers dropped his client after the premier was denied permission to receive private funding for his legal team, sources said on Wednesday. Netanyahu, who is standing trial over corruption allegations, which he denies, had sought 10 million shekels ($2.9 million) from his U.S. billionaire friend, Spencer Partrich, to help cover legal fees.
But following a recommendation from Israel's attorney general, a committee in the state comptroller's office blocked Netanyahu from accepting the loan on grounds it amounted to an improper gift to a government official.
The 70-year-old premier, whose personal fortune has been estimated at more than $10 million, was also ordered to return some of the money he received from his American cousin, Nathan Milikowsky, to cover legal expenses.
Following those setbacks, defense lawyer Micha Fettman resigned from the right-wing premier's defense team.
Multiple Israeli media outlets reported Wednesday that the resignation was linked to money and the prospect that Fettman's fees would not be covered.
6. Annexation can still happen in July, US source tells 'Post' - Jerusalem Post
The White House peace team is expected to further discuss how to implement its Middle East vision on Wednesday, a person familiar with the discussions told The Jerusalem Post.Sovereignty moves, in accordance with US President Donald Trump's peace plan, are "still possible" this month, the source said.
The peace team, led by Special Adviser to the US President Jared Kushner, plans to have a series of discussions following a visit to Israel last week by Special Representative for International Negotiations Avi Berkowitz and National Security Council Member Scott Leith, at the end of which Trump is expected to weigh in.Recent discussions between officials in both countries have been mostly focused on ways to cooperate in fighting COVID-19 - with both countries showing a sharp increase in cases in recent weeks - and not sovereignty, another Trump administration source said Tuesday.
Last week, Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz said several times any sovereignty moves must wait until Israel is done handling the pandemic and related economic crisis. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed Gantz's statements, saying the Blue and White Party is not relevant to his decisions on the matter.

1. Supreme Court says Trump administration can let religious employers deny birth control coverage under Obamacare - CNBC
The Supreme Court on Wednesday voted 7-2 to uphold 2017 rules established by the Trump administration that would allow employers with sincerely held moral or religious objections to deny their employees access to free contraceptive coverage.
The rules broadened a carve out to the contraceptive coverage mandate included in the Affordable Care Act, the health-care overhaul commonly known as Obamacare.
The Justice Department told the court that the exemptions are required by the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which prohibits the government from substantially burdening religious exercise unless it can show that it is using the "least restrictive means" to further a compelling government interest. (Read more)
- Thank you Father God for this ruling by the Supreme Court. We praise you for protecting religious freedom and freedom for employers all across America! Amen.
- "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." (2 Corinthians 3:17)
2. US Supreme Court declines to hear cases on laws banning pro-life free speech outside abortion centers - Life Site News
The U.S. Supreme Court decided last week on Thursday not to hear challenges by pro-life advocates to two "bubble zone" laws that ban them from exercising pro-life speech outside abortion centers.
The court's July 2 written order declining to hear the cases from Chicago and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, came scant days after its 5-4 ruling striking down a Louisiana law requiring abortion centers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
The justices followed the usual practice of not commenting on turning away the cases, Associated Press reported, adding that the court's order noted that Justice Clarence Thomas would have heard the Chicago case. (Read more)
- In the name of Jesus we pray over the Supreme Court and we ask you Holy Spirit to reform and reshape the court for your godly purposes. We ask that you would be the loudest influence in those justices' ears prompting them to uphold religious liberty, free speech, and the freedoms citizens of America enjoy every day.
- "But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life." (Romans 6:22)
3. Chief Justice Roberts injured head in fall last month, was hospitalized - Fox News
U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts spent a night in a hospital last month after injuring his forehead in a fall near his home, Fox News has confirmed.
Roberts fell while taking a walk at a Maryland country club, the report said. The chief justice, 65, has a history of seizures, having suffered such health events in 1993 and 2007, but doctors determined that last month's fall did not result from a seizure, Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathleen Arberg told the Post.
Instead, doctors believe Roberts suffered some lightheadedness because of dehydration, the report said.
Roberts was taken to a hospital by ambulance after the June 21 incident at the Chevy Chase Club. His injury was serious enough to require an unspecified number of stitches, according to the report. (Read more)
- In the name of Jesus we pray over Justice Roberts that his injuries would be healed and whole. We pray that whatever damage was done would be completely restored and that his mind would be in better shape than it was before and that you Holy Spirit would govern through him helping him make better decisions than he has in his past. In Jesus name amen.
- " . . . and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind. . ." (Ephesians 4:23)
4. Trump Pulls U.S. From WHO, Which Wanted to Use Coronavirus Funds to Kill Babies in Abortions - Life News
Today, President Donald Trump has officially ended America's relationship with the WHO, the international agency that has botched its response to the coronavirus.
President Trump said the relationship between the United States and the World Health Organization has ended. The president said China, which has pushed a forced abortion population control policy on its people for decades and killed more babies in abortions than any other nation, "has control" over the controversial agency.
"China has total control over the World Health Organization despite paying only $40 million per year compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450 million a year," Trump said previously. "We have detailed the reforms that it must make and engaged with them directly, but they have refused to act."
"Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent, global public health needs," Trump said. (Read more)
- Thank you father God for this bold and courageous move by the Trump administration. Thank you for exposing the evil that is behind the World Health Organization and how they are controlled by communist regimes, how they have misused all the massive funding they receive from the United States, and how they've deceived the world throughout this pandemic. Amen.
- "Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind." (1 Peter 2:1)
5. China Begins Repressive Crackdown On Hong Kong, Removes Books From Libraries That Promote Democracy - Daily Wire
Numerous books have been pulled from the shelves of libraries in Hong Kong after the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) new Hong Kong security law went into effect last week.
"Books written by prominent Hong Kong democracy activists have started to disappear from the city's libraries, online records show, days after Beijing imposed a draconian national security law on the finance hub," Voice of America reported.
"Among the authors whose titles are no longer available are Joshua Wong, one of the city's most prominent young activists, and Tanya Chan, a well-known pro-democracy lawmaker."
Experts and activists say that the removal of the books increases concerns that the Chinese Communist Party will use the new law to censor political statements that dissent from the oppressive political party, which has been responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of its own citizens since its inception. (Read more)
- Father God in Jesus name we pray for the Christians of Hong Kong that they will be "wise and serpents and innocent as doves" as they navigate obedience to you God in an increasingly oppressive government.
- "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." (Matthew 10:16)
6. Trump Rebukes Fauci on Coronavirus Comments: US in a 'Good Place' - Newsmax
President Donald Trump on Tuesday publicly criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci for his comments on the coronavirus pandemic, and said the U.S. is in a "good place" despite a surge in COVID-19 cases.
"Well, I think we are in a good place. I disagree with him," Trump told Gray Television's Greta Van Susteren during an interview at the White House.
"Dr. Fauci said don't wear masks and now he says wear them. And he said numerous things. Don't close off China. Don't ban China. I did it anyway. I didn't listen to my experts and I banned China. We would have been in much worse shape."
"We've done a good job," Trump added. "I think we are going to be in two, three, four weeks, by the time we next speak, I think we're going to be in very good shape." (Read more)
- Thank you father God for giving President Trump the boldness to say no to his so-called experts who have gotten it wrong several times throughout this whole pandemic. We ask Father God that you would send him different experts. Give the administration heavenly strategies on how to expose the organizations and the experts lying and deceiving the American public. Show them when and how to do this in Jesus name amen.
- "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." (Proverbs 15:22)
7. Trump says he disagrees with CDC school reopening guidelines, calls them 'impractical' - Fox News
President Trump on Wednesday said he disagreed with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on their "very tough & expensive" guidelines - which he called "impractical" - on reopening schools in the fall amid the coronavirus pandemic. "I disagree with @CDCgov on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools," Trump tweeted Wednesday. "While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things." A senior administration official this week also noted that the CDC "never recommended school closures because they didn't believe that was an effective strategy." The president's comments come amid a week of discussions on whether schools will be able to reopen this fall, even as cases of the novel coronavirus surge in states across the country. (Read more)
- Father God we pray that you would give heavenly strategies to the Trump administration and to the organizations in charge of planning back to school guidelines. We pray that you would give them wisdom and practical guidelines that the schools can follow easily and that parents and families are happy with. In Jesus name amen.
- "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."(Proverbs 1:7)
8. Trump administration eyes $1T price tag for next coronavirus relief package - Fox Business
The White House wants to limit the cost of the fourth coronavirus relief package at $1 trillion or less amid growing concerns among some Republican senators over the nation's ballooning deficit, according to a senior administration official.
Negotiations between Congress and the Trump administration on another round of virus-related stimulus are set to begin in earnest later this month after lawmakers return to Washington from their two-week Fourth of July break.
But some administration officials are concerned that if the aid package is worth more than $1 trillion, the White House risks losing pivotal support from fiscally conservative Senate Republicans who are starting to balk at the unprecedented debt and spending levels. (Read more)
- In the name of Jesus we speak to the national debt and ask that it would be completely dissolved in your name Jesus. We pray that our political leaders would seek you and your financial strategies on how to spend taxpayer money more wisely. Amen.
- "Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future." (Proverbs 19:20)
9. Far-Left's 'BREATHE Act' Calls on States to Expand Voting to 'Undocumented People'- Brietbart
The far left, led by Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), is championing a reform measure dubbed the "BREATHE Act," which contains a slew of radical proposals, including the call to incentivize states to pass laws that expand voting access, allowing "local and State resident voting for undocumented people."
The proposal, drafted in partnership with the Movement for Black Lives, aims to overhaul the U.S. criminal justice system, providing a range of radical changes - from defunding the police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to establishing a commission tasked with designing reparations for victims of "mass criminalization."
In addition to enfranchising past and present incarcerated individuals, the leftists call forI:C laws specifically "allowing local and State resident voting for undocumented people."
Additionally, the proposal calls for "full and free access" to a "lifetime of education for undocumented people," as well as a jobs program that targets the "most economically disadvantaged individuals, including groups that disproportionately include Black cis- and trans women, formerly incarcerated people, undocumented people, and disabled people." (Read more)
- In Jesus name we cancel these wicked plans of the enemy and call this bill null and void that it will go no further in Jesus Christ's name.
- " . . . and do not give the devil an opportunity." (Ephesians 4:27)
10. Black Lives Matter Protest Joins 'Allah hu Akbar' Chanting Pro-Yemen Demonstration - Brietbart
This week, hundreds of pro-Yemeni and Black Lives Matter protesters joined forces in London to demonstrate against "white" capitalism, systemic racism, and the war in Yemen.
In a Breitbart London exclusive video, protesters are seen shouting the Islamic phrase "Allah hu Akbar" (Allah is greater [than your god]), "Justice for Yemen", as well as common slogans to the BLM movement in Britain such as "the UK is not innocent".
Another activist took aim at the American Declaration of Independence, saying that it was a product of "white capitalist slave owners" and therefore was used to oppress black people. "We trust in a concept that was built off our backs and built to enslave. Democracy today does not exist, when we have black people dying on the streets, when we have famine in Yemen and occupation in Palestine. Democracy doesn't exist because, in the UK, capitalist interests mean more than the interests of the general public," she said. (Read more)
- In Jesus Christ's name we come against this foul lying spirit of lawlessness and anarchy spreading throughout the western world. We ask father God that you would continue to expose the Marxist, atheist movement that disguises itself in organizations claiming to fight for "equality" in Jesus name. Amen.
- "Let them be confounded and consumed who are adversaries of my life; let them be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt. But I will hope continually and will praise You yet more and more." (Psalm 71:13-14)

Your prophetic heritage
Many people have told me that they have disconnected from the news because it is all so bad that they just cannot handle it. The loudest, most brash, biggest bully, filthiest name caller all seem to rise to the top of the media coverage with their version of the latest issue. The next problem is bigger than the one before, and they seem to be building on one another far faster than we can mentally process them. There are those who predict the end of America. Others say judgment has come. Still others are oblivious to anything but their daily schedule. But they all feel the frustration. It is like a demonic spirit that has engulfed our nation and is strangling its good sense. In this time, remember who you are.
If you are a follower of Christ, the Messiah, then you know his promise. The entire Bible is given to us as the word of God, as is Jesus Christ. In Christ is our salvation and in the Bible is instruction on how we are to work out our salvation here on earth. Jesus said in Matthew 10:28, "And fear not them who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The promise of eternal life, knowing the end game so to speak, should give us all the confidence to speak boldly as we ought to speak and having done all, to stand. Jesus said in Matthew 24:6 that . . . see that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."
Isaiah 54:17 says, "No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, says the LORD." Likewise, Isaiah 33:14-16 says, "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? He that walks righteously, and speaks uprightly; he that despises the gain of oppressions, that keeps his hands from the holding of bribes, that stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil; He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the fortresses of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure."
As the LORD says, your heritage-your prophetic place-is in his righteousness and it is you who shall have a place of defense in the fortress of rocks, dwelling on high with bread and water. Do not be overwhelmed by the things of this world. As Paul said in Romans 12:21, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Let's not sit around wringing our hands over the unrighteous, but rather seize our place in the righteousness of the LORD. You don't have to be enslaved by oppression-it has no authority over you. So stand in that gap. Be that royal priesthood. Obey God rather than man for the night is far spent and the day is at hand. Cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light and let your light so shine.
Dr. Garlow Responds to the Leftists
Dr. Garlow Responds to the Leftists
Dear Health "Experts," Leftists/Progressives/Dems & Complicit Media,
To you, we might be "deplorables," but we are not ignorant. We know the truth. For the record, we lost trust in you some time ago. We see through your hypocrisy and your feeble and failed attempts to justify your indefensible positions. That is why you yell and scream so loudly or write as you do. Your volume is in inverse proportion to your truth. Your screeds lack rationality.
Anarchy, Insubordination and COVID-19
Anarchy, insubordination and COVID 19
There are grim challenges ahead for America, for the worst of the fight for liberty is far from over. As Winston Churchill warned in his 1942 Second Battle of El Alamein speech, "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."
Instead of building Jesus' ekklesia , as called for in Matthew 16:18, during the 20 th century American Christianity devoted itself fully to cobbling together a model all its own - a Sunday-best social gathering complete with rock stars, celebrities, big buildings, CEOs, Christian radio, television, and publishing, and other feel-good messages.
As a consequence, secularists have seized control of the spiritual, intellectual, educational, economical, and vocational levers of power and influence in America. What's now happening is spiritual, as American propagandists wrap lawlessness in American cities in plain brown paper, proving every bit as deceitful and politically motivated as were Russian newspapers Pravda [" Truth "] and Izvestiya ["News"] in whitewashing the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Certain patterns can be observed throughout history. Vying for ideological supremacy and control of resources, like for instance Marxists fronts such as Antifa and Black Lives Matter do, is nothing new. What ultimately will be in the crosshairs is religion .

Supreme Court Victories!
Two Big Court Victories For Religious Liberty!
Victoria Cobb, President
The Family Foundation
Wednesday, July 8, 2020
We got some great news today in two highly anticipated cases from the U.S. Supreme Court. In both cases, the Court affirmed the rights of religious institutions to retain and apply the deeply held tenants of their faith in every aspect of their mission. The first one, and arguably the most important case of the term, Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru, dealt with the application of the so-called "ministerial exception," which generally prevents anyone from suing a religious organization over employment decisions it makes involving employees considered to be ministers. The Court sided with the two Christian schools in the case, holding that the firing of teachers is generally a "matter of church government" over which courts have no say. Among the positive clarifications, the Court stated that a formal title of minister is not necessary in order for the "ministerial exception" doctrine to apply to employees of faith-based institutions.
The Court did not prescribe a "rigid formula for deciding when an employee qualifies as a minister." According to the 7-2 majority, "a variety of factors may be important in determining whether a particular position falls within the ministerial exception. What matters is what an employee does." The Court placed special significance on the fact that the employees' "schools expressly saw them as playing a vital role in carrying out the church's mission. A religious institution's explanation of the role of its employees in the life of the religion in question is important."
Another major point was emphasized by Justice Thomas in a concurring opinion: "The Court properly declines to consider whether an employee shares the religious organization's beliefs when determining whether that employee's position falls within the "ministerial exception," explaining that to "determin[e] whether a person is a 'co-religionist' . . . would risk judicial entanglement in religious issues."" In other words, even if a teacher at a Christian school is not himself a practicing Christian, he can still be expected to act consistently with the major faith tenets of the school in order to maintain his employment.
Today's decision in Our Lady of Guadalupe School confirms what we told the Virginia legislature as it passed the overly broad so-called "Virginia Values Act"-that forcing faith-based schools and churches to hire and fire in violation of their beliefs regarding sexuality is unconstitutional and will not be enforceable.
This case will be helpful to us as we defend churches and schools through our new legal arm, Founding Freedoms Law Center, from those who attempt to force an outside orthodoxy on religious entities.
The second case, Little Sisters of the Poor v. Pennsylvania, dealt with the continuing saga of the Obamacare contraceptive mandate, affirming that federal Departments do have the authority under the ACA to promulgate regulations with religious and moral exemptions for entities opposed to paying for contraceptives. The Court noted that it stated in its Hobby Lobbycase that the Obamacare contraception mandate "violated [the Religious Freedom Restoration Act] as applied to entities with complicity-based objections. This was another good confirmation of religious and conscience rights.
Time will tell how this will impact the ongoing clash between the sexual/gender revolution and religious liberty, but these cases thankfully help give some added support to people and organizations of faith. And that is something to be happy about.
[Prayers are offered for both cases in the Brief section and in our Good News report, below.]
Election Forecast
Professor doubles down on prediction model of Trump's chances in 2020
Despite recent polls that identify Joe Biden as the heavy favorite in 2020, a political science professor is still standing by his prediction model that shows President Trump having a "91 percent" chance of winning in November.
Mediaite reported on Wednesday that Stony Brook professor Helmut Norpoth is doubling down on his "Primary Model," which has correctly predicted five out of the past six elections since 1996 and every single election but two in the past 108 years.
"The Primary Model gives Trump a 91 percent chance of winning in November," Norpoth said. "This model gets it right for 25 of the 27 elections since 1912, when primaries were introduced."
As Mediaite noted, the two elections the model failed to predict were the 1960 election of John F. Kennedy and the 2000 election of George W. Bush. (Fox News)

OUR GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST
"Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations." (Psalm 90:1)
Lyrics
Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.
Under the shadow of Thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure.
Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same.
Thy Word commands our flesh to dust, "Return, ye sons of men:" All nations rose from earth at first, And turn to earth again.
A thousand ages in Thy sight Are like an evening gone; Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun.
The busy tribes of flesh and blood, With all their lives and cares, Are carried downwards by the flood, And lost in following years.
Time, like an ever rolling stream, Bears all its sons away; They fly, forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day.
Like flowery fields the nations stand Pleased with the morning light; The flowers beneath the mower's hand Lie withering ere 'tis night.
Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Be Thou our guard while troubles last, And our eternal home.

COMET NEOWISE MEETS A NOCTILUCENT CLOUD
Note: to view this comet, go here.
This week, Comet Neowise is visible at dawn. Next week, it will be visible at dusk.
When European astronomers woke up Monday morning to photograph Comet NEOWISE (C/2020 F3), they saw something they didn't expect. The sunrise comet was surrounded by noctilucent clouds. Robert Barsa video-recorded the encounter from Lubietova, Slovakia:
Talk about perfect timing. Barsa chose to photograph Comet NEOWISE during a major outbreak of noctilucent clouds. "The comet was drowning in them," says Barsa. "I could easily see the comet with my naked eye as it rose over Dumbier Peak in the Low Tatras Mountains. It was stunning."
The silvery ripples in Barsa's video are tendrils of frosted meteor smoke. Many of the meteoroids that seed noctilucent clouds come from comets. Barsa captured both phenomena in a single, very rare timelapse. (Remarkably, Michael Jaeger recorded a similar video from Jauerling, Austria, on the same morning.)
Comet NEOWISE is now a worldwide sensation. It will remain a morning comet for the next ~week, then, by mid-month, shift to evening skies where casual star gazers can see it without waking at the crack of dawn. Given the recent explosion of noctilucent clouds, more videos like Barsa's may be in the offing as well. Stay tuned.

A Major Outbreak of Noctilucent Clouds
July 6, 2020: Last night, July 5-6, a major outbreak of noctilucent clouds (NLCs) blanketed Europe. Electric-blue tendrils of frosted meteor smoke rippled over almost every European capital from Scandinavia to the Adriatic. "It was the most phenomenal display of NLCs I've seen in my life," says Viktor Veres, who photographed the outbreak from Budapest, Hungary:
NLCs are Earth's highest clouds. Seeded by meteoroids, they float at the edge of space 83 km above the ground. The clouds form during summer when wisps of water vapor rise up to the mesosphere, allowing water to crystallize around specks of meteor smoke. This summer, record cold temperatures in the mesosphere are boosting their production.
"I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke." (Acts 2:19)

Victory for Little Sisters of the Poor: Supreme Court Says Employers Can't Be Forced to Violate Their Pro-Life Religious Beliefs
"For over 150 years, the Little Sisters have engaged in faithful service and sacrifice, motivated by a religious calling to surrender all for the sake of their brother... But for the past seven years, they-like many other religious objectors who have participated in the litigation and rulemakings leading up to today's decision-have had to fight for the ability to continue in their noble work without violating their sincerely held religious beliefs." -Justice Clarence Thomas
The US Supreme Court is upholding religious exemptions for pro-life employers who don't want to be forced to provide contraception, including abortion-inducing drugs, to their employees.
In an overwhelming 7-2 ruling on Wednesday morning, the court sided with the Trump administration which had taken steps to allow employers with religious convictions to be exempt from the birth control mandate in the Affordable Care Act, also referred to as Obamacare.
SCOTUSblog first reported the religious freedom victory by tweeting: "#SCOTUS upholds expanded exemptions to the Affordable Care Act's birth control mandate for employers with religious or moral objections"

About CHPP
About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
