Difficult News:

Trump says to prepare for 'very painful 2 weeks' as WH projects 100,000 to 200,000 US coronavirus deaths

The White House coronavirus task force on Tuesday pleaded with Americans to abide by the administration's extended social distancing guidelines to slow the spread of coronavirus as a somber President Trump told Americans to brace for "a very painful two weeks" and warned of thousands of more virus-related deaths.

"The surge is coming, and it's coming pretty strong," the president said in the White House briefing room in a lengthy press conference that lasted more than two hours.

The extension of the social distancing guidelines comes after Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and other public health officials on the White House coronavirus task force ominously warned that even if the U.S. were to continue to do what it was doing -- keeping the economy closed and most Americans in their homes -- the coronavirus could still leave 100,000 to 240,000 people in the United States dead and millions infected.

Without any measures in place to mitigate the contagion's spread, those projections jump to between 1.5 and 2.2 million deaths from COVID-19.

"It is absolutely critical for the American people to follow the guidelines," Trump said during the briefing. "It's a matter of life and death."

The new "30 Days to Slow the Spread" guidelines -- unveiled at the press conference -- are an extension of the strategy the White House implemented just over two weeks ago and include guidance on social distancing, working from home, washing hands frequently, and avoiding any unnecessary travel.

While Trump sought to reassure Americans that the country would ultimately get through the pandemic, he declined to sugarcoat the severity of the pandemic and said that the battle against the contagion will be worse in the upcoming weeks.

"This is going to be a rough two week period," Trump said. "As a nation we're going to have a really rough two weeks. Our strength will be tested and our endurance will be tried."

At another point, Trump said: "This could be a hell of a bad two weeks. This is going to be a very bad two or maybe even three weeks. This is going to be three weeks like we've never seen before."

- First of all, Father God, we thank You for President Trump -- a man of courage who is not afraid to face the facts as they are, and to tell the American people what we can expect to see in the weeks ahead.

But Father God, as people of faith, we look beyond that statistics of man to You, the Author and the Finisher of our Faith, and our Great Physician.

We thank You, Father God, that Your Word is true and does not lie. By Your stripes, we are healed! We trust in that Word, and many others for those who have become ill with the virus. Thank You, Lord, that You WILL heal, if we but believe. Amen and amen.

- "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

1. Number of coronavirus cases in Israel jumps to over 5,000 - Israel National News

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Israel rose by over 500 in one day and now stands at 5,358.

94 patients are in serious condition, 105 are in moderate condition, and 4,916 patients are in mild condition. 224 patients have recovered from the virus so far.

2. Blood Libel: PA Accuses Israel of 'Corona Holocaust' in Prisons - United with Israel

The Palestinian Authority (PA) falsely claimed that Israel is putting prisoners at risk of being infected by the Coronavirus. Therefore, the PA has demanded Israel free all Palestinian terrorists.

In fact, Israel has been taking measures to prevent the virus from reaching all Israeli prisons and to date there are no known Coronavirus infections there.

Ignoring the facts, an op-ed in the official PA daily went as far as accusing Israel of putting the prisoners at risk so that they are "on the brink of a holocaust," alleging that the prisons have not taken the necessary steps to stop the virus from spreading within the prisons:

"[The spread of coronavirus in Israel] has caused the Palestinian prisoners in the occupation's detention camps to protest and return the food portions, because the occupation authorities have not taken the necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus, and added insult to injury when they withheld disinfectant and cleaning materials from the prisoners - as if we are on the brink of a holocaust against the Palestinian prisoners, but not through ovens but rather through an invisible virus that still has no cure!" 3. Knesset to approve Shin Bet surveillance of coronavirus-infected citizens - Jerusalem Post

The Knesset Intelligence Subcommittee at press time on Tuesday was moving toward approving the surveillance by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) of coronavirus-infected citizens.

On Monday, the committee had already approved around 95% of the surveillance program, with various changes and new limits.

Tuesday's hearing was mostly devoted to defining to whom the Shin Bet could send information for enforcement purposes besides Israel Police.

The Health Ministry wanted the authority to transfer some information to local municipal officials for enforcement purposes, and the committee needed to iron out the parameters of that issue.

4. Likud says sovereignty issues 'non-negotiable' as unity talks hit snag - Israel Hayom

The coalition talks between Blue and White and Likud, which started off on the right foot last week, hit a snag on Monday. The main points of division are Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria and the appointment of Yuli Edelstein as Knesset Speaker.

Likud officials said the matter of applying Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria under the auspices of the Trump administration's peace outline was "non-negotiable." Party officials said the demand to move forward with the application of sovereignty was clear to Blue and White from the beginning, and that party is unwilling to give Blue and White veto powers on the matter.

As stated, the sides also disagree over the appointment of the next Knesset Speaker, whom the Likud wants to be from within its ranks. Likud negotiators insist that Yuli Edelstein be re-elected to the position, while Blue and White oppose the proposal. At the behest of Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, negotiators have even suggested returning the Foreign Ministry portfolio in exchange for the Knesset Speaker position, which Likud has rejected outright. Throughout the day Monday, Blue and White mediators also proposed swapping the Foreign Ministry for the Health Ministry portfolio, but Health Minister Yakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism) unequivocally rejected the idea.

5. Israeli jets strike Syrian positions, says Damascus - World Israel News

Syrian State TV said Israeli jets fired missiles while flying in Lebanese airspace. The outlet said the warplanes targeted a Syrian army position without saying where exactly. It added that some of the missiles were shot down.

Residents of the Lebanese capital Beirut heard the sound of warplanes in the air shortly before the airstrikes were reported.

There was no immediate comment from Israel. Last month, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a car in southern Syria, killing one person. Opposition activists said at the time that the man targeted was an anti-Israel operative.

In recent years, Israel has repeatedly carried out airstrikes in Syria against targets belonging to Iran and its regional terror proxies.

1. Americans face nearly unprecedented travel restrictions inside US as states rush to stem coronavirus tide - Fox News

As more and more Americans fall ill with the coronavirus and President Trump warns it will peak sometime in April, states nationwide are moving quickly to implement travel restrictions on people coming in from other parts of the country, regulating the interstate travel of Americans to an extent not seen in modern American history.

Taken together, these travel restrictions, which reach nearly every corner of the United States, are a nearly unprecedented limitation of Americans' freedom of movement as every level of government is scrambling to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the United States. Governors cannot legally prevent people, especially Americans, from entering their states. But they can discourage it by implementing a 14-day quarantine or similar measures and enforcing that with their state police or national guard. That appears to be what many states, in an effort to keep people infected with the coronavirus outside of their borders, have decided to do.

These drastic measures reflect the warlike posture both the federal government, which passed a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill to combat the economic effects of the coronavirus last week, and state governments, which have borne most of the responsibility for coordinating the response to the disease throughout the pandemic, are taking in their efforts to defeat the coronavirus. (Read more)

- Father, as more and more of us are now being required by our federal and state officials to "shelter in place," we ask that You grant unusual wisdom to each one of us as we prepare our homes for this hour. In Your Name, amen.

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

2. 'Pod Save America' host urges networks not to air Trump coronavirus briefings -The Hill

Jon Favreau, the former Obama speechwriter and "Pod Save America" host, called Tuesday for networks to no longer carry President Trump's coronavirus task force daily briefings, saying they represent a "free campaign commercial every day" that put "lives at risk."

"Trump's daily briefings are carried live by every network, which means that millions of Americans are receiving misinformation about a public health crisis that's unfiltered and mostly unchallenged," Favreau said Tuesday in an email petition from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee that asked others to join the effort to pressure cable news networks.

"It has to stop. Cover the news. Cover the facts. But there is zero reason to give the President a free campaign commercial every day where he's free to spread lies that put people's lives at risk," he adds. (Read more)

- Father, thank You that we hear from President Trump everyday and from his task force which provides us with much information. Thank You for favor upon the President, and silence those who mean to do him harm.

3. Ford teaming with GE to build 50,000 ventilators by July 4, working on 'Trump time '- Fox News
Ford is partnering with GE Healthcare to build 50,000 ventilators by July 4 at the automaker's Rawson Components Plant in Michigan, the companies announced on Monday. The automaker will produce the Airon Model A-E ventilator, which has been licensed by GE Healthcare for the effort.

Airon currently manufactures the devices at a rate of just three units per day at its Florida location, and Ford will assist in boosting production there as the new line is set up in Michigan. The current retail price for the device is approximately $7,000.

A press release accompanying the announcement quoted White House Defense Production Act Coordinator Peter Navarro as saying Ford and GE are working on 'Trump time' to get the project going. (Read more)

- Abba, Father, bless the companies that are retooling in order to boost the supply of ventilators. Send angel armies to speed them on their way. Please supernaturally breathe life and healing into those that are perishing without a ventilator.

4. Dow, S&P 500 post worst March since the Great Depression - Fox Business

U.S. equity markets fell Tuesday, sending the major averages to their worst first-quarter on record as the as the COVID-19 pandemic rocked investor confidence.

For the month, it is the worst March since the Great Depression, with the Dow down over 13 percent and the S&P 500 lower by more than 12 percent. On the day, the Dow fell over 410 points or 1.8 percent, wiping out earlier gains. The S&P 500 lost 1.6 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.95 percent. (Read more)

5. McConnell hits brakes on next economic stimulus package - The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) hit the brakes Tuesday on Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) plan to move ahead with a fourth stimulus package that would include major infrastructure spending and other Democratic priorities.

"I think we need to wait a few days here, a few weeks, and see how things are working out," McConnell said on "The Hugh Hewitt Show."

"Let's see how things are going and respond accordingly," he added. "I'm not going to allow this to be an opportunity for the Democrats to achieve unrelated policy items that they would not otherwise be able to pass."

Pelosi on Monday told reporters in a conference call that she is already looking a new round of coronavirus relief legislation and that it would likely include a major infrastructure component. (Read more)

- Lord, we ask for Your timing and agenda for re-forming our nation physically and economically. Keep us by Your side, neither running ahead nor lagging. May our leaders seek unity with You and each other in determining and fulfilling Your wise strategies.

6. Americans in class-action suit against China speak out on how coronavirus has upended their lives - Fox News

The American plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit filed this month against China say the coronavirus outbreak has injected fear into their everyday lives, kept them home from work and taken away their beloved family members as the pandemic has swept across the United States - and they lay the blame squarely at China's feet.

The suit, which seeks to take advantage of limited exceptions in U.S. law that allow Americans to sue other governments, alleges that China "knew that COVID-19 was dangerous and capable of causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest."

Representatives for Berman Law Group, the class-action firm backing the suit, say that they've had upward of 10,000 inquiries from Americans looking to join the class action. Jeremy Alters, the chief strategist and non-attorney spokesperson for the Berman Law Group, framed the suit as a struggle to help everyday people who have been wronged by a country that unleashed a pandemic on the world through its negligence. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that we receive the truth from China in all aspects of this virus, and their research, which could help others in fighting this virus. We continue to pray protection on Americans from this virus, we speak a swift end to this virus, and we take authority over all FEAR that this virus has produced. In Jesus Name.

"Even though I walk

I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me."

7. Texas abortion ban during COVID-19 pandemic allowed to continue, an appeals court ordered - Washington Times

Less than 24-hours after a district court judge halted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's executive order banning most elective abortions during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, a federal appeals court has moved to uphold the ban, effectively overruling the lower court.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the governor's order to go into effect in a 2-1 move, while the legal battle over its constitutionality plays out in the courts.

Mr. Abbott had issued the order last week to stop nonessential medical procedures from taking place in order to prevent medical supplies from running low, and the spread of the coronavirus. Other states had acted similarly. Abortion providers challenged the order and on Monday, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel, a Bush-appointee, sided with them against the state. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for this GOOD NEWS. In Jesus' name, amen.

Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord! (Psalm 150:6)

8. Trump administration rolls back Obama-era fuel efficiency standards
-The Hill

The Trump administration on Tuesday rolled back an Obama-era law that pushes automakers to produce more fuel efficient vehicles, severely limiting a rule designed to decrease pollution from transportation in the face of climate change.

The new rule cuts the year-over-year improvements expected from the auto industry, slashing standards that require automakers to produce fleets that average nearly 55 mpg by 2025. Instead, the Trump rule would bring that number down to about 40 mpg by 2026, bringing mileage below what automakers have said is possible for them to achieve.

The Trump administration has argued that cutting Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards will allow automakers to produce cheaper cars, something they say will save 3,300 lives as lower prices spur consumers to upgrade to new vehicles with better safety features that guzzle less gas than older models. (Read more)

- Father, thank You that this law will make it possible for more Americans to afford newer, safer, and cleaner vehicles. Continue to give President Trump innovative ideas to help Americans.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." (Colossians 3:23)

9. Obama slams rollback of vehicle emission standards in rare rebuke of Trump- CNN

Former President Barack Obama issued a rare criticism of the Trump administration Tuesday after it announced it's rolling back his signature fuel standards aimed at combating the climate crisis, saying Americans "have to demand better" of their elected leaders.

"We've seen all too terribly the consequences of those who denied warnings of a pandemic. We can't afford any more consequences of climate denial. All of us, especially young people, have to demand better of our government at every level and vote this fall," Obama wrote in a tweet.

The comment is notable as the former President seldom publicly criticizes his successor, who has focused on undoing his legacy -- particularly his environmental and climate policies. (Read more)

- Father, we pray President Trump would continue to follow Your direction in all his ways and ignore the critics who constantly come against him all day every day.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you" (Psalms 32:8).

10. DOJ watchdog finds additional problems with FBI's surveillance warrant process - The Hill

A Justice Department watchdog has identified additional errors in the FBI's surveillance warrant application process after reviewing more than two dozen Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) applications, according to a new publicly released memo.

Justice Department (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz informed FBI Director Christopher Wray on Monday that his office did "not have confidence" the FBI was properly following the Woods Procedures, an FBI policy that requires officials to provide supporting documentation to back up factual assertions made in FISA applications. Such applications seek to wiretap individuals on U.S. soil in national security cases.

This review piggybacks on a damning report released in December that found errors and omissions in a FISA application and its renewals that targeted former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page as part of the government's investigation into Russian interference.(Read more)

11. Feds find smuggling tunnel running from Mexico to San Diego warehouse - Fox 5 San Diego

Federal agents discovered a sophisticated drug smuggling tunnel running beneath the U.S.-Mexico border and connecting a building in Tijuana to a warehouse in Otay Mesa.

Investigators uncovered the tunnel on Thursday, March 19, as part of an investigation by a variety of agencies including Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Attorney's Office, the DEA said in a news release Tuesday.

Authorities in the U.S. worked with law enforcement in Mexico to locate the tunnel entrance on the southern side of the border. Then agents tracked the tunnel from a Tijuana warehouse to the commercial complex in southern San Diego, the DEA explained. (Read more)

- Father God, we can only shout HALLELUJAH for this GOOD REPORT. THANK YOU, LORD, amen!

The Old Rugged Cross

Classic Hymns

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

Lyrics

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He'll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I'll share.

Refrain

2 dozen tornadoes ransacked middle of country in devastating weekend outbreak

A violent outburst of weather erupted across parts of the U.S. heartland over the weekend as two dozen tornadoes were reported across several states from Saturday into Sunday. Jonesboro, Arkansas, located in the northeastern corner of the state took the worst of it, suffering a direct hit from an EF3 tornado.

City officials and residents in Jonesboro were starting the recovery process after at least 22 injuries were caused by the twister. Officials said there were no fatalities caused by the storm.

Rounds of severe thunderstorms erupted from the southern Plains to the Ohio Valley Saturday, with the dangerous weather packing damaging winds, hail the size of softballs and destructive tornadoes like the one seen in Jonesboro. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You that there were no lives lost in these violent storms, and we pray for those who are now recovering from this devastation, in Your name.

Samaritan's Purse Sets Up Field Hospital
to Treat COVID-19 Patients in Hard-Hit New York City

Samaritan's Purse, the Christian relief organization founded by evangelist Franklin Graham, has set up an emergency field hospital in New York City, an area hit hard by the COVID-19 virus.

The Central Park tent hospital is filled with 68 beds and a special respiratory field unit. Graham told CBN News that the medical system in New York is overwhelmed. Samaritan's Purse has set up in front of Mount Sinai Hospital, which is currently full.

"And our hospital, right there on Central Park and Fifth Avenue . . . they say when we open up tomorrow, we're going to be full," Graham said.

According to Samaritan's Purse, the field hospital will be staffed with doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and water and sanitation experts. Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will be on hand helping to look after emotional and spiritual needs that arise.

TIME TO REPENT!

"David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the Lord was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel." (2 Samuel 24:25)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

As of this writing, Malawi is one of only 3 nations in the WORLD that report NO cases of the Coronavirus! Pastors in Malawi, over the past few years, have sponsored THREE "National Days of REPENTANCE" -- with a 4th one scheduled to take place next month.

- Father God, we thank You for this solid, concrete evidence that REPENTANCE yields RESULTS! We ask that our President and others in authority would awaken to this biblical truth, and call SOON for a National Day of Prayer and REPENTANCE to see the Coronavirus STOPPED in America. Amen!
