1. Americans Have Failed People With Mental Illness. Trump's New Budget Will Change That - The Washington Post

"President Trump is exceptionally focused on fighting for Americans who can't fight for themselves and confronting problems other administrations, Democratic and Republican, have ignored. This is particularly true for Americans who suffer from addiction and serious mental disorders," White House Domestic Policy Council Director Joe Grogan writes.

Nearly 50 million Americans experienced some form of mental illness in 2018. The President's new budget, out today, proposes the boldest reforms in decades to help them. Read more.

- Father God, we thank You for gracing us with a man in the Oval Office who has a heart of compassion for the neediest among us. We ask that You continue to guide President Trump and his advisors with Your wisdom as they seek to right this wrong; and that our Congress will give them their full support in doing so. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (Psalm 32:8)

2. Trump's budget: Boosts to wall, rural communities, VA, NASA, cuts to UN, EPA - Washington Examiner

President Trump's fiscal 2021 budget set for release on Monday was written with an eye on the 2020 election, with boosts to programs the public support, cuts in those that, for years, conservative presidents have promised but never delivered on, and a long-term promise to cut the deficit.

In briefings Secrets attended and documents from the administration, Trump, for example, is the first president to make good on decades of pledges to cut foreign aid and spending on the United Nations.

Officials said that the cut to the U.N. would be "a lot," and foreign aid trimmed $170 million, or 21%, by targeting wasteful and sometimes silly funding to programs that would, for example, "support the Muppet Retrospectacle in New Zealand."

On the positive side, Trump wants another $2 billion for the border wall. That is far less than in past years, but officials said it is because the administration has secured enough money, $18 billion, to pay for 80% of the wall.

He would also increase spending for the Veterans Administration by 13%, NASA by 12%, and Homeland Security by 3%. And he plans to move the Secret Service from Homeland Security back to the Treasury Department. (Read more)

3. Life is good in Trump's America, and Democrats want to break it - Washington Examiner

The Democrats are on a roll. The past couple of weeks have been a political parade of one disaster after another, all to the benefit of President Trump's reelection campaign.

The Democratic primary candidates want to run your healthcare, education, and finances, but they have proven incapable of reporting votes in a simple caucus. Although to be fair, former President Barack Obama's Healthcare.gov website crashed on its launch day too, so the Iowa fiasco is nothing new for the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the beat goes on in Washington. Trump delivered a triumphant State of the Union address to Congress despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi's distracting facial expressions and her melodramatic, almost ceremonial, ripping up of a copy of the speech. If I didn't know any better, I'd suspect she didn't like Trump all that much. (Read more)

4. Andy Puzder: Unemployment rate ticks up - find out why this is good news for the economy - Fox News

There have been many spectacular jobs reports over the past three years, but the January 2020 jobs report is really quite exceptional. It's one of the most encouraging jobs reports I've seen in some time.

The topline figures are plenty impressive on their own. The country added 225,000 new jobs in the first month of 2020, blowing away economists' projections, which called for a mere 164,000 new jobs. (Read more)

Focus on Israel

1. Criticism of US Mideast plan softened in UN draft resolution - Israel National News
A reworked Palestinian Authority resolution has dropped its initial condemnation of President Donald Trump's Mideast peace plan, opting for less confrontational language ahead of a United Nations Security Council vote, a copy obtained by AFP shows.

The latest draft also no longer mentions the United States by name as the plan's author, and couches its criticism in milder language than in the original.

The changes come as diplomatic pressure mounts ahead of Tuesday's Security Council vote, which Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas is expected to be on hand for.

In one sign of the pressure, Tunisia earlier in the week abruptly fired its ambassador to the United Nations, Moncef Baati, citing his failure to consult with his foreign ministry on matters said to include the peace plan.

2. US ambassador warns Israel against unilateral annexation 'before completing joint committee process' - israelhayom.com

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman on Sunday warned Israel that taking any unilateral step before the joint American-Israeli mapping committee completes its work will jeopardize the Trump peace plan and American recognition of areas designated for Israeli sovereignty under the plan.

In a social media post, Friedman wrote that "Israel is subject to the completion [of] a mapping process by a joint Israeli-American committee. Any unilateral action in advance of the completion of the committee process endangers the plan and American recognition."

Friedman's comments came in the wake of Defense Minister Naftali Bennett's call on Saturday night to immediately bring to a vote the matter of applying sovereignty in parts of Judea and Samaria.

3. PM Netanyahu says he rejected concessions, is working to 'prevent Israel's funeral' - Israel National News

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Saturday night spoke at a conference in Maaleh Adumim, emphasizing that "without Judea and Samaria, our existence is in danger."

"Without our homeland, we have no existence, we are left hanging - we have no past, we have no future. This is our identity and our legacy, and our future is here. Therefore, our enemies are trying to uproot us from the heart of our homeland. They will not succeed. We are here, and we will always remain here," Netanyahu said. Praising US President Donald Trump, Netanyahu continued: "Three years ago, we received a golden opportunity to change the path of history: President Trump was elected - a personal friend of mine for many years, and the greatest friend Israel who Israel has ever had in the White House."

. . . "We're in the midst of mapping the area that according to the Trump plan will be part of the State of Israel. It's a lot of land. We will lead this, and President Trump will agree to it. I trust him completely, and I trust myself completely. But I don't trust [Blue and White Chairman MK] Benny Gantz. If it were up to Gantz - it would not happen.

4. Settler leaders call on PM to 'put US in its place,' swiftly annex W. Bank land - Times of Israel

Settler leaders reacted in fury to US Ambassador David Friedman's Sunday clarification that the White House would not support immediate and uncoordinated annexation of parts of the West Bank by Israel, with one prominent West Bank mayor calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to ignore the warnings from Washington and put the Trump administration "in its place."

"The United States cannot prevent Israel from doing anything," said Jordan Valley Regional Council chairman David Elhayani, who serves as the chairman of the Yesha Council umbrella group of settlements.

Elhayani in a statement called on the prime minister "to fulfill his commitment to the residents of Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley to apply sovereignty before the elections, and to do this as soon as possible."

"Judea and Samaria" is the biblical term for the West Bank.

5. Personal info of 6m. Israelis leaked after Likud uploads voter information - Jerusalem Post

The personal information of 6,453,254 Israelis was leaked after the Likud Party uploaded the entire Israeli national voter registry to an application, according to Haaretz.

The leaked information includes names, identification numbers, phone numbers and addresses.

Political parties in Israel receive the information of Israeli voters before the elections and have to protect their privacy and cannot copy, erase or transfer the registry.

The voter registry was uploaded to the Elector application which the Likud Party uses on election day. A breach in the application allows for the leaking of the voter registry which can then be downloaded on a computer, according to Haaretz.

1. Coronavirus effects could 'spill over to the rest of the global economy,'
Fed warns in report to Congress
 - Markets Insider

A fast-spreading virus has killed hundreds of people in China and sickened thousands more, bringing activity in the second-largest economy to a near standstill. And the scope of the outbreak's economic consequences may only grow, according to the Federal Reserve.

In its latest monetary-policy report to Congress on Friday, the central bank said possible spillover effects of the coronavirus outbreak "have presented a new risk to the outlook." "Data through early this year suggested that growth was steadying," the Fed said. "The recent emergence of the coronavirus, however, could lead to disruptions in China that spill over to the rest of the global economy." (Read more)

- Lord, we take authority over this virus and by the power of the Name of Jesus and by His Blood, we rebuke it and declare the enemy's plans to destroy the global economy dispelled.

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper." (Isaiah 54:17)

2. Van Jones Warns Democrats: Trump Is Helping African-Americans
'In Real Life'
 - Breitbart
CNN contributor Van Jones warned fellow panelists, and Democrats in general, on Tuesday evening that President Donald Trump was helping African-Americans "in real life" and reaching out to them for their vote in 2020.

Jones was reacting to the president's State of the Union address, in which the president mentioned several efforts to help African-Americans specifically:

What he was saying to African-Americans can be effective. You may not like it, but he mentioned HBCUs [historically black colleges and universities] - our black colleges have been struggling for a long time, a bunch of them have gone under - he threw a lifeline to them, in real life, in his budget. He talked about that. He talked about the criminal justice reform. He talked about opportunity zones. He talked about school choice. (Read more)

- Father, thank You that even a die-hard leftist noticed that the President is working for America. We pray for Mr Jones, that You would open his eyes and that of his colleagues to see the truth.

"Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." (Psalm 85:10)

3. The PRO Act won't do anything to help workers. It's a plan to empower Dems' Big Labor allies: Andy Puzder - Fox News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is at it again and Democratic presidential hopefuls former Vice President Joe Biden, former Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sens. Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren are all with her.
Last week, the Democrat-led House of Representatives passed a bill designed solely to empower the Democrats' Big Labor allies. While the bill has little chance of becoming law with Republicans in control of the Senate, the deceptively named Protecting the Right to Organize Act ("PRO Act") is a dire warning of what Democrats would do should they ever return to power.

Voters should pay close attention to its provisions. Despite severely negative economic consequences, Democrats would eviscerate both the rights of employers to oppose unionization and of workers to decline union membership through the PRO Act - effectively turning the right to unionize into compulsory unionization. (Read more)

- Father, this little known legislation passed along party lines by the House would literally destroy right to work laws in many states. We pray that no part of this bill will pass the Senate, and that You will protect the United States from the constant barrage of evil plans from the Democrats.

"Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" (Isaiah 5:21)

4. Green New Tariffs: Democrats Threaten Climate Change Trade Barriers - Breitbart

Democrats say they will use threats of trade barriers to force other countries to comply with their climate change agenda.

Several of the leading candidates for the Democratic nomination said at Friday night's debate in New Hampshire that they would not sign trade agreements with other countries that did not include environmental regulation or would work to include such regulation in modifications of existing trade agreements.

"Everyone wants to get to the American markets. We should be raising standards on climate around the world to get access to our market," Elizabeth Warren said. Several other candidates voiced similar views. Such an embrace of trade restrictions is notable because all of the candidates on the debate stage also say they oppose Donald Trump's tariffs. (Read more)

- Lord, the hypocrisy of the 2020 Democrat candidates is stunning. We ask that You prevent any actions in the United States not of Your perfect will. We stand against all socialist programs designed to destroy US businesses and declare them null and void.

"Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy." (Luke 12:1b)

5. Rep. Ilhan Omar promotes call for GI Bill to apply to all Americans - Fox

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., is taking heat for sharing an article calling for the G.I. Bill -- legislation that pays for American service members' higher education -- to apply to all U.S. citizens. The story, written by Marine and Iraq veteran Will Fischer, who used the G.I. Bill's benefits to pay for his college education, argues that the benefits of paying for veterans' education have far outweighed the costs -- and covering all Americans' tuition would benefit not only those avoiding student debt but the economy as a whole. "Imagine what it would do for our country and those who live here if we were to take the ethos behind the original G.I. Bill and apply it to everybody-canceling all student debt and making public colleges, universities, and vocational schools tuition-free," Omar tweeted, quoting the AlterNet story. But Omar was quickly criticized for advocating such a massive expansion. (Read more)

- Father, Your grace, Your Salvation is completely undeserved for us all. But the GI bill is not "free" education, it is a benefit earned by our service members for putting their lives at risk for the nation. We bind up the plans to give away "free" education to everyone and declare it dead on arrival in congress.

"And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not ... when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
(2 Thessalonians 3:2)

6. The American College of Physicians, with an estimated 159,000 members, advocates a "full totalitarian" health-care system - Daily Mail

The American College of Physicians, with an estimated 159,000 members, advocates a "full totalitarian" health-care system in which the elderly are given painkillers to die as a matter of efficiency, warns the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

Jane M. Orient, M.D., the executive director of the AAPS, reacted to the ACP calling for "sweeping government action that would cover everyone, "reduce costs" and improve the health of Americans. DailyMail.com reported the ACP declared the U.S. health care system "is ill and needs a bold new prescription.'"

"Doctors from the association endorsed either a government-run 'single-payer' system that would cover everyone, or a new 'public option' government plan that would offer comprehensive coverage to compete with private insurance," DailyMail.com reported. (Read more)

- Lord, we say NO to this idea and pray for Your protection against all plans to harm people or cause them to die before Your time. We declare that Your will shall prevail against these plans. We ask that the ACP would be visited by Your Spirit to change their hearts.

"In a dream, in a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, Then He opens the ears of men and seals their instruction." (Job 33:15,16)

7. Driver in Florida plows van into GOP voter registration tent, nearly hitting 6 volunteers: reports - Fox News

Authorities in Florida were searching Saturday night for a driver who they claim drove his van into a Republican Party voter registration tent in a shopping center parking lot, just missing six volunteers working there.

The suspect, described as a white man in his 20s, then got out of his vehicle and recorded video of the smashed tent, and flashed a middle finger to the startled voter-registration volunteers before driving off, FOX 30 of Jacksonville reported.

Photos posted by the Republican Party of Duval County showed Trump-Pence placards and bumper stickers strewn around the parking lot, along with the toppled tent. Another photo showed an older model brown-and-tan van driving away from the scene. (Read more)

- Lord, as this political violence continues, we pray that EVERY attempt to intimidate voters or commit voter fraud will be thwarted by Your angelic host. Make Your people strong, unafraid and ready.

"Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word." (Acts 4:29)

8. 'I Am Here To Assassinate President Donald Trump' - Man With Knife Arrested Outside White House - Daily Caller

Washington, D.C. police arrested a man carrying a knife outside the White House Saturday after he allegedly expressed a desire to kill President Donald Trump. Roger Hedgpeth, 25, allegedly told a U.S. Secret Service officer on 15th and Pennsylvania Ave. NW that he wanted to assassinate the president and had a knife with him, according to the Associated Press.

The Washington Post reports that he said specifically, "I am here to assassinate President Donald Trump." The police report noted that the man may have mental health issues. He was arrested with a 3.5 inch blade by Metropolitan PD. (Read more)

- Father, we thank You that this man was intercepted. We continue to lift President Trump before You, to protect him from harm.

"Touch not my anointed ones and do My prophets no harm!" (Psalm 105:15)

9. Taylor Swift Says Her Pro-LGBT, Pro-Choice Brand of Christianity Is the Real Christianity - CBN News

The new Netflix documentary "Miss Americana" features pop star Taylor Swift touting her shift to politics, and it takes a left turn when she tries to define what Christians believe to match her own progressive ideas.

In the aftermath of President Trump's election, Swift has not only been speaking out about political candidates, she's even been using her music to promote a pro-LGBT agenda. For example, Swift's rainbow-clad music video last year for her single, "You Need to Calm Down," is an ode to the LGBTQ community and takes jabs at those who disagree with the lifestyle.

The excerpt depicts Swift arguing with her parents and publicist over whether to post social media messages regarding her entry into politics and the backlash it may cause. Swift goes on to describe her disgust with Blackburn's Bible-based policies and Christian beliefs. "I can't see another commercial and see Marsha Blackburn disguising these policies behind the words 'Tennessee Christian values'. Those aren't Tennessee Christian values. I live in Tennessee. I'm a Christian. That's not what we stand for." (Read more)

- Father God we pray this mass deception of a false Christianity would not penetrate the minds of Taylor's young followers. We cover the minds of the young children with the blood of Jesus that you Lord would be the most influential person in their lives. Amen.

"More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it."
(Proverbs 4:23)

10. Woman wins battle to hold Bible study at condo complex after Christian worship ban - Christian Post

A Florida woman, who filed a federal complaint after her homeowners association barred her from continuing to host a Bible study in the social room of her own condominium complex, has reached a settlement allowing her to carry on with the religious activity, a legal group that represented the Christian woman said.

The agreement states that Donna Dunbar, a Seventh-day Adventist lay minister who runs a nationally recognized soup kitchen with her husband, "may continue to use the social room on a weekly basis to hold a Bible study without being subject to special rules or restrictions," said First Liberty Institute in a statement, calling the settlement "excellent news."

"Her victory is more proof that we are taking part in a historic turning point when people of faith are reclaiming religious freedom at an unprecedented rate," the group said. (Read more)

- Thank You, Lord for this bit of good news. We ask that state, local, or federal governments will not be able to interfere with Christian activities.

"If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

11. Multiple US casualties in Afghanistan after attack during military mission, officials say - Fox News

There were multiple American casualties after U.S. and Afghan troops were fired on during a mission in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday, two U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News.

Military personnel were fired upon while carrying out the operation, but the number of deaths and the severity of any injuries have yet to be confirmed, according to The Associated Press.

Military spokesman Col. Sonny Leggett issued in a statement, saying those involved in the attack were "engaged by direct firing." (Read more)

- Father, we pray Your comfort over the families of these men, and fill their hearts with peace. We ask that You send Your angelic armies to help our troops be safe.

"A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you." (Psalm 91:7)

Contempt of Congress

In John 13:34, Christ said, "A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." Certainly, Christ was talking to his followers, those who know and love God because if you love God you will also love others. This doesn't mean that you have to always agree with them. But it lays out a guideline of respect, and respect is a product of love. What we have seen in America from the leadership of the Democratic Party is nothing but contempt for its political foes and any good news that benefits fellow humankind. They are the first to criticize Christian values, the first to claim they follow God, and the first to level utter contempt for anything good.

While it may seem that I am picking only on Democrats, it is the Democratic Party leadership that is demonstrating this contempt for America, Americans, Christians and Christian values, and the good news that is impacting Americans. What is wrong with people having jobs, people coming off of welfare, minorities who so long have been oppressed being employed at the highest rates in history, that the American standard of living is being restored after the middle class was nearly wiped out? What is wrong with applauding and celebrating these accomplishments? There is something terribly wrong with the Democratic Party that it cannot and will not accept or celebrate what is good for Americans.

Evangelist Franklin Graham noticed this as well when he tweeted, "What we saw from President Donald J. Trump's opposition last night during the State of the Union address felt like a very personal resentment and hatred for the successes of America that had just been spoken of. How could leaders in Congress be so indignant about good news for the people of this country? Why would they not celebrate people seeing increases in their wages, our military being strengthened, a young girl receiving a scholarship, victories in the fight against ISIS, a military hero reunited with his family, a 100-year-old three-war veteran being honored, and other great news? It reveals contempt for the heart of America. What's wrong with these people? As one senator said, "You can tear up the speech, but you can't tear up the accomplishments.""

Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" I'm not saying that Republicans have a monopoly on what is good and true. They certainly do not and are also part of the problem. The focus on politics in this nation has resulted in deadly division. And this division shows more than ever the void of Christ in our country-the lack of light; the recognition of good; the stand against evil, or even understanding what is evil. We need to return to the ancient paths of righteousness-Love for one another; Respecting opinions even though we disagree; Making the case for what is right and good; and calling good, good and evil, evil. All this contempt is destructive.

Under His Wings

Classic Hymns

UNDER HIS WINGS

"Hide me under the shadow of Thy wings." (Psalm 17:8)

Lyrics

Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

Refrain

Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever.

Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Refrain

Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life's trials are o'er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I'm safe evermore.

Refrain

Storm Ciara fast-tracks plane flying from JFK to Heathrow in under 5 hours, breaks record

On Feb. 9, Storm Ciara kicked up strong winds and heavy rain across the United Kingdom, and made massive waves in Criccieth, Wales, that flooded coastal roads.

There aren't many things that can ruin the day quicker than hearing a storm might affect your flight, that is until you find out it could actually speed it up. Storm Ciara made travel conditions tricky, if not dangerous, across northwest Europe, but the storm also helped a Boeing 747 beat the transatlantic flight record on Sunday.

Typically storms delay flights, and Storm Ciara was no different, but the passenger plane traveling from New York to London made the trip in 4 hours and 56 minutes by riding a jet stream that was accelerated by the storm.

The plane was scheduled to arrive at 6:25 a.m. local time, but it landed at the London Heathrow Airport almost two hours earlier than scheduled at 4:43 a.m.

This British Airways flight is now the fastest subsonic New York to London crossing, beating the previous record set by Norwegian at 5 hours and 13 minutes, according to Flightradar24.

The average flight time of this path from New York to London, according to Flightradar24, is 6 hours and 13 minutes.

"A strong jet stream over the northeast Atlantic Ocean helped to increase tailwinds at flight level, which helped to push the plane along on its flight," AccuWeather Meteorologist Maura Kelly said.

The jet stream helped the plane reach speeds of 825 mph (1,327 km/h), the BBC reports.

"This strong jet stream played a part in strengthening Storm Ciara as it tracked across the Atlantic Ocean," Kelly said. (Accuweather.com) Read more.

Jesus Is Transforming Salvadoran Gang Members

This Monday, I stood in front of 600 male inmates at a prison in Izalco, El Salvador. The men were dressed in white T-shirts and white drawstring pants, and many of them sported tattoos on their faces and necks. All the men were members of violent gangs when they were incarcerated. About 20% of them were affiliated with the MS-13 gang-a group known for horrific attacks on women, children and police officers.

Yet I felt no fear as I looked out over the crowd and shared a message from Luke 15 about the prodigal son. Most of the men were carrying Bibles, and when I announced my text, they immediately turned to the passage. I could hear them yell, "Amen," or "Gloria a Dios," when I stressed an important point. And they clapped and cheered when I reminded them that the kosher Jewish father in the story welcomed his wayward son home even though the boy smelled like pigs.

Almost every prisoner in this huge group became a Christian after arriving at the Izalco prison. Two churches now operate inside the facility, pastored by men who were once tough criminals. All the men now gather for Bible study every day, they hold prayer and fasting vigils, and they are helping each other to grow spiritually. (Charisma News) Read more.

Thank You, Lord! Amen!

Reading the Bible Together

WELCOME TO OUR BIBLE READATHON!

Reading the Word of God over our nation, six nights per week. "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14) We are now reading the Word of God every night (except on Sunday mornings) from midnight to 6:00 a.m. EDT. We are reading through the whole Word, from Genesis to Revelation, and beginning again in Genesis when finished. Our numbers of readers continues to grow over time.

For more information, about how you can join our ongoing Reading of the Scriptures, please send an email to: info@capitolhillprayer.org. EVERYONE'S WELCOME! [Note: we are reading from these versions of the Scripture: King James, New King James, New American Standard, and NIV.]

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word with with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

God Bless You!
