Impeachment Update

1. Pelosi says House will send Trump impeachment articles to the Senate Wednesday - CNBC

The House of Representatives will vote Wednesday to send two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Tuesday.

Wednesday's House resolution is expected to have three functions: To transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate, name the House members who will serve as managers of the impeachment trial, and fund the trial itself.

Pelosi has yet to announce who she has selected to serve as impeachment managers, the House members who will effectively act as prosecutors in the president's trial. On Tuesday, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Hakeem Jeffries said Pelosi would release the names of the managers sometime before Wednesday's vote. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask the Ms. Pelosi would now seek the counsel of the Lord in making these next decisions, instead of relying upon the "wisdom" of men. Thank You, Lord, amen.

"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

2. McConnell: Senate impeachment trial to start next Tuesday -The Hill

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says the Senate will begin debating an organizing resolution to start the Senate trial on Tuesday of next week. The GOP leader said Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in senators as jurors this week, before the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

After senators hear these opening arguments, "the more contentious issue of witnesses will be addressed by the Senate," McConnell said. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You that, so far, no concrete evidence has been presented, allowing grounds for impeachment. We ask that all will be done now in this "trial of impeachment" according to Your will, and in Jesus' name, amen.

"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

3. Bannon Tells Trump To Give State of the Union Address After Impeachment Trial -TownHall.com

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon is calling on the president to withhold giving the State of the Union address until after he is acquitted by the Senate in his upcoming impeachment trial. Bannon spoke to Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures." Bannon said Trump's impeachment trial will be the "trial of the century," as Democrats have committed "the crime of the century" by attempting to nullify the results of the 2016 presidential election.

"This is about the direction of the United States of America," Bannon said. "It's about the peace and prosperity of the world. Donald Trump's policy is working. And this is why [Nancy Pelosi] slow-walked this. She invited him to do the State of the Union, and then she purposely slow-walked this because she wants in the middle of the trial -- and I can see The New York Times' headline: 'Under a Cloud of Uncertainty, Trump Addresses the Nation.' He has to be acquitted. He will be acquitted and exonerated. That should happen. And then you do the State of the Union, because the whole world will watch this." (Read more)

- Lord God, we have now witnessed our President making brilliant moves in the areas of our economy, our national security, and in foreign policy (to name but a few). We entrust our President to You, Father God, as he takes control of the impeachment process and sets the correct time for this year's State of the Union address. Thank You, Lord, that Donald John Trump will hear Your voice leading him as he makes this critical decision this year. In Jesus' name, amen.

"This is the way, walk ye in it." (Isaiah 30:1)

Focus on Israel

1. New IDF Intel Assessment: Iran Could Have Enough Uranium for Nuke by Spring - Algemeiner

The IDF's Military Intelligence Directorate issued its annual assessment for 2020 on Tuesday, warning that Iran might have enough enriched uranium for a nuclear bomb by this spring.

According to the Israeli news site Mako, the report stated that the US assassination of Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani earlier this month would have a deterrent effect, though the situation still required close monitoring.

Despite Soleimani's death, however, without intervention, Iran could succeed in enriching enough uranium for one nuclear weapon by spring, according to the report. But it will take another two years to be weaponized sufficiently to be placed in a warhead, the report noted.

2. Netanyahu urges immediate return of international sanctions on Iran - Times Of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday called to reimpose international sanctions on Iran over its nuclear work, after European states triggered a dispute mechanism in the nuclear accord that limits Tehran's atomic program.

"We know exactly what's going on in the Iranian nuclear program. Iran thinks it'll acquire nuclear weapons. I repeat: Israel won't allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons," he said in a statement.

"I also call on the West to impose the automatic sanctions mechanism at the UN - snapback sanctions - now," he added.

3. Syria says Israeli aircraft strike base thought used by Iranian forces - Times Of Israel

Syria accused Israel of carrying out an airstrike on a military air base near Homs late Tuesday night. The SANA state news agency claimed missiles shot by aircraft caused limited damage to the T-4 air base, which is thought to be used by Iranian forces and allied Shiite militias.

"Our air defenses immediately confronted the hostile missiles and brought down a number of them. Four missiles reached the targeted area and there were only material losses," the news agency said, citing a military source.

4. It's Official: Bennett - Shaked - Smotrich Running Together, Habayit Hayehudi Abandoned - Jewish Press

Naphtali Bennett and Bezalel Smotrich on Tuesday reached an agreement on a joint run of National Union and the New Right in the March 2 elections. On Monday night, negotiations between Smotrich and Habayit Hayehudi chairman Rabbi Rafi Peretz hit a wall (Smotrich - Peretz Alliance Dies Amid Violent Clashes, New Right Emerging as Sole Survivor), and Smotrich announced to his party members that he had approached Bennett and was trying to join forces with the New Right.

The co-chairs of the New Right party, Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked, stated following the signing of the new deal that it leaves the door open for Habayit Hayehudi as well, in an equitable and respectful manner. However, it is unlikely that Bennett, Shaked and Smotrich would be interested in inviting in Peretz's recently acquired ally, Itamar Ben-Gvir, chairman of Otzma Yehudit. New Right is counting on attracting the liberal religious Zionists in Habayit Hayehudi, and one of the main reason these folks are leaving their party en masse is precisely the joint run with Otzma, which is associated with the late Rabbi Meir Kahane.

5. Young Israeli Diplomat Torpedoed Russia's Attempt to Move $17 Million to UNRWA - Jewish Press

Thanks to a brilliant idea of a young diplomat on Israel's UN mission, Yaron Wax, Israel in late December torpedoed a Russian move at the UN, supported by the PLO, to approve an additional $17 million budget for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Ynet reported. In 2019, for the first time, UN Secretary-General António Guterres proposed to the Fifth UN Commission, which approves the organization's annual budget for 2020, to allocate $17 million to the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM) to assist in the investigation and prosecution of war crimes in Syria, mainly in the context of chemical weapons.

To date, Russia and China have opposed funding this UN agency, and it has been operating on donations alone. The Western countries, including Israel, supported the Secretary-General's proposal, but Russia, China and their allies resisted. In an attempt to kill the Guterres proposal, Russia counter-proposed adding $17 million to UNRWA, which recently has been mired in scandals and corruption, and, like IIIM, relies on country donations for its funding.

1. NAS Pensacola shooting was an 'act of terrorism', Barr says; US to expel 21 Saudi nationals in training program - Fox News

The shooting carried out by a Saudi aviation student at Naval Air Station Pensacola in December was an "act of terrorism," Attorney General William Barr said Monday as officials released their findings from their investigation into the attack.

Barr said the gunman, identified as Royal Saudi Air Force 2nd Lt. Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, was "motivated by jihadist ideology." His comments came as the U.S. was expelling 21 Saudi nationals living in America who, like Alshamrani, trained with the U.S. military at facilities including NAS Pensacola.

Senior Justice Department officials told Fox News the 21-year-old shooter left a "trail of extremism" in the days and weeks leading up to the attack. (Read more)

- Heavenly Father, we pray that our military policy leaders will use wisdom in the future concerning the training of foreign students in military skills. We thank You for this terrorist designation, so that it may bring attention to what this really was. We ask that You would send angels of protection to guard our men and women in uniform no matter where they are.

"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." (Psalms 91:11)

2. Former marine, 37, is arrested after 'posing as security detail for Marine One -The daily mail

A former Marine who was kicked out of the military 10 years ago has been charged with impersonating one of the soldiers guarding President Trump's Marine One helicopter.

Brandon M. Magnan, 37, was arrested by the Secret Service and charged on Monday after he allegedly breached two checkpoints at Palm Beach International Airport and posed as a member of the security team assigned to Marine One.

Magnan is alleged to have claimed that he was part of HMX-1, the Marine Corps unit assigned to pilot and protect Marine One, the president's personal helicopter. (Read more)

- We praise You, Lord, that this imposter was detected before he got even closer to the President. Lord, we pray that the Secret Service will always be on alert to fakes like this and have supernatural insight into all wicked motives of those around President Trump. We also speak salvation and deliverance to this poor man.

"Keep me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge." (Psalms 31:4)

3. House GOP campaign arm faces ethics complaint over 'trackers' in Capitol buildings - The Hill

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) on Monday filed an ethics complaint calling for an investigation into the House GOP campaign arm and its chairman, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) over the use of "trackers" filming lawmakers in Capitol Hill office buildings.

The DCCC argued in a letter to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) that the National Republican Congressional Committees's (NRCC) use of employees tracking and videotaping Democrats from competitive districts in the Capitol complex is a violation of House rules that prohibit the use of official resources for political purposes.

While the House ethics guidelines do not have formal rules about the use of campaign trackers, the DCCC pointed to the House ethics rules stating the House office buildings cannot be used for campaign or political activities, such as commercials or photos. (Read more)

- Dear Lord, we pray that ALL tactics involved in the next election cycle will be brought into Your order, including the more egregious tactic of registering illegals, deceased people, and fictitious people as has been done. In the name of Jesus, we bind up all fraud and intimidations as we have experienced in the past and speak out a just and fair election this year.

"If you say, 'But we knew nothing about this,' does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?" (Proverbs 24:12)

4. Cory Booker suspends 2020 presidential campaign - Fox News

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker on Monday suspended his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination after struggling since the start to break into the top tier and failing to make the cut for the upcoming debate.

"It's with a full heart that I share this news -- I've made the decision to suspend my campaign for president," Booker said in an email to supporters.

Booker entered the race last February but struggled to gain traction in the polls. It wasn't long ago that Booker, the energetic former mayor of Newark, N.J., was considered a rising star in the Democratic Party, but he was outshined throughout the primary and never enjoyed a break-out moment like others. (Read more)

- Father God, we know that ultimately the government is upon Your shoulders. May you have mercy on the U.S. as the 2020 elections approach; please impart Your wisdom to the voters in November. May you draw Corrie Booker into Your fold, revealing Your good and perfect plans for him. Call up the truth that was planted in him years ago, and may he be changed by the renewing of his mind from glory to glory.

For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. (Romans 13:1)

5. Trump administration marks 100 miles of border wall, vows 'many more' to come - Fox News

The Trump administration on Friday marked the 100th mile of wall construction along the southern border -- describing it as a "milestone achievement" and promising that there are many more miles to come by the end of the year.

"Today is a milestone that has been reached and a celebration is in order," Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said in front of wall in Yuma, Arizona. "Today I am proud to report that the Trump administration has constructed 100 miles of border wall system along the southern border."

The wall was a central campaign promise of President Trump's 2016 bid, and he will be keen to show the electorate that he has delivered on that promise. The administration has pledged to build 450 miles by the end of 2020. Wolf told reporters that he was still confident that that promise would be fulfilled, even despite a series of congressional and legal hurdles the administration has been forced to overcome. (Read more)

- Abba, Father, we give You all the praise and honor as we see the wall emerging across our southern borders and as You dismantle the roadblocks set in place by some courts and elected officials. We ask for Your continued help until the entire border wall is finished. May You be praised for the wisdom You have given to the engineers and safety for the construction teams. Abba, we especially thank You for Your supernatural protection encircling our borders. Show us how to be a blessing to the nations south of the U.S. in the various ways that You ordain.

"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."
(Proverbs 19:21)

6. 'Inspiring': Trump tweets in Farsi to speak directly to Iranian people protesting regime - Washington Examiner

President Trump sent out a tweet in Farsi telling Iranians protesting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that he stands behind them.

"To the brave and suffering Iranian people: I have stood with you since the beginning of my presidency and my government will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely. Your courage is inspiring," Trump said.

Protesters in Iran on Saturday called upon Khamenei to step down after the country admitted to shooting down a commercial airliner that contained dozens of Iranian citizens.

The demonstration came a day after Iran said it "unintentionally" shot down a Ukrainian airliner and killed all 176 people on board. The crash came just hours after Iran's military lobbed more than a dozen missiles at bases in Iraq containing U.S. troops. (Read more)

- Lord, thank You for a President who reaches out to the real people of Iran. We ask that You increase their courage, and bring about a massive move of Your Holy Spirit across that nation.

"But You, O God are a God full of compassion and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth." (Psalm 86:15)

7. Trump issues warning to Iran: 'Do not kill your protesters . . . the USA is watching' - Fox News

President Trump issued a stark warning Sunday to Iran as leaders in Tehran gear up to deal with protesters who took to the streets after the government admitted to accidentally shooting down a Ukrainian passenger jet. "To the leaders of Iran - DO NOT KILL YOUR PROTESTERS," Trump tweeted. "Thousands have already been killed or imprisoned by you, and the World is watching. More importantly, the USA is watching."

He added: "Turn your internet back on and let reporters roam free! Stop the killing of your great Iranian people!" Numerous anti-government protests erupted at universities across Iran on Saturday with students calling for the resignation of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. (Read more)

- King of Kings, just as You delivered Your children from the hands of the Pharoah, we ask that You deliver Your people, and Your people yet to be, throughout the land of Persia (Iran). We ask that you supernaturally cause the wicked Iranian leaders to stand down, replacing them with leaders who allow freedom throughout this nation. We have heard that the Garden of Eden was located in Persia; may Your plans and purposes for this nation be revived and the land be cleansed.

". . . and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants."
(Leviticus 25:10b)

8. Hezbollah: It's time for Iran's allies to start working to avenge Soleimani - Reuters

Lebanon's Hezbollah said on Sunday it was time for Iran's allies to begin working to retaliate for the killing of Major General Qassem Soleimani though it would be a "long path" to the goal of ejecting U.S. forces from the region.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also denied the Iranian general had been planning to blow up U.S. embassies. U.S. President Donald Trump said he had been killed after he landed in Baghdad in part because "they were looking to blow up our embassy".

Hezbollah, a heavily armed group designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, was established in 1982 by Iran's Revolutionary Guards and is an important part of a regional Tehran-led alliance known as "the axis of resistance." (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will step up to protect our troops and citizens against any sleeper cells, and military action by Hezbollah or any other Iranian ally.

"He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings shall you take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4)

9. Trump's 'peace-through-strength' philosophy on Iran is what America needs: Goodwin - New York Post By the time Trump made his restrained public statement Wednesday, the entire media script was flipped upside down. World War III was on hold because the Iranians blinked, and the president, seizing a potential opening, was inviting the mullahs to negotiate. Some crazed warmonger he is.

The results simultaneously shred the claim that the Obama nuke deal was effective and confirm the wisdom of Trump's decision to eliminate Soleimani. Contrasts between competing policies don't get any sharper. Nor does the clarity of the result.

Plainly, Trump is not a warmonger. He's a deal maker and his record is that of someone who uses our military might as a deterrent, unleashes it with discretion and only as a last resort. (Read more)

- We thank you O God, for giving our President wisdom and might in this situation. Thank you that he has the courage to stand up against fierce adversaries because he believes it's the right thing to do and he will not cower to fear, threats or accusations. We thank you also for the spiritual gifting that you have placed within him and the Godly counselors You have placed around him.

". . . He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding." (Daniel 2:21)

10. Missiles strike US base in Iraq that also houses 200 British personnel two days after the same Soviet-made rockets were launched at another barracks -The Daily Mail

A US base in Iraq which also houses 200 British personnel was targeted in a missile strike on Tuesday night.
No coalition troops were injured in the Soviet-made Katyusha rocket attack on Camp Taji north of Baghdad.
'No Coalition troops were affected by this small attack at Taji Base,' coalition military spokesman Colonel Myles Caggins III said in a tweet.
No group has claimed responsibility for the strike but the same rockets were used in attack on Sunday night at another US base. (Read more)

- Father, we thank you for your covering and protection of lives while this rocket attack took place. Whether we know who launched the attack or not, You know and we ask you to replace hatred with redemption and clog up the rocket launching equipment so that it never functions again. Please continue to keep both military and civilians wise and protected and under cover while they live in the strike zones.

"Thus says the Lord God: 'I will therefore spread My net over you with a company of many people, And they will draw you up in My net.'" (Ezekiel 32:3)

11. Congress Seeks Investigation Into Pro-Iran Lobby Group Tied to Tehran Regime - FreeBeacon.com

Congressional leaders have petitioned the Trump administration to investigate a pro-Iran lobbying organization that has long faced accusations of acting as the Islamic Republic's unregistered mouthpiece in America, according to official communications obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

A group of senators has requested that the Trump administration investigate the National Iranian American Council, or NIAC. The council, a pro-Tehran advocacy group with deep ties to the Iranian regime, played a key role in the Obama administration's pro-Iran "echo chamber," which misled Congress and the American people about the terms of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal.

Senators Tom Cotton (R., Ark.), Ted Cruz (R., Texas), and Mike Braun (R., Ind.) are petitioning the Justice Department to investigate NIAC for potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which requires that lobbying groups disclose their activities on behalf of foreign nations. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask for a thorough investigation into this important matter. Thank You, Lord, amen.

Iranian journalists should be example for US media

The power of the press is a solemn responsibility. Lying to the public, advancing a political agenda, tampering with events to provide more sensational stories, are all examples of what we are taught not to do when we are in journalism school. Yet, in this current environment of ideological bigotry and political intolerance, the lies, propaganda, and weaponization of news reporting has become so commonplace that there is a national moniker for it-Fake News. America's freedom is secured in part by First Amendment guarantees of a free press. When the press, however, abuses that right, tyranny occurs. How is it then that journalists in a closed society are setting the example that American journalists seem to have forgotten?

The UK Guardian reports, "At least two presenters working for the Iranian state broadcaster IRIB have announced they have quit their jobs, with a third saying she quit some time ago after having told lies on behalf of the state for 13 years. Gelare Jabbari apologized in an Instagram post, writing: "It was very hard for me to believe that our people have been killed. Forgive me that I got to know this late. And forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies." Zahra Khatami quit her role at IRIB, saying: "Thank you for accepting me as anchor until today. I will never get back to TV. Forgive me." Her fellow anchor Saba Rad said: "Thank you for your support in all years of my career. I announce that after 21 years working in radio and tv, I cannot continue my work in the media. I cannot.""

These resignations, at great personal risk to the journalists are an example of how a true journalist is supposed to behave. For whatever reason, maybe they didn't know any different or were brainwashed or perhaps they are just now seeing the horrors of their deeds in supporting the propaganda, political intolerance and ideological bigotry of the Ayatollah regime, these reporters are coming clean. Maybe enough was enough. The last full measure of how the regime lied to journalists and the journalists lied to the public hit their conscience in overload. It was how the regime lied about shooting down at Ukrainian passenger plane, killing all 176 aboard, and then for days claimed they knew nothing about it.

The Iranian journalists are on the other end of the tyranny spectrum, finally realizing what they have done for decades. American journalists are all caught up in the passion of their misguided leftist beliefs, so they are at the beginning of ushering in tyranny. Trouble is, with freedom comes responsibility, something the American journalists should learn from their woke Iranian counterparts. The enemies of the state are the purveyors of fake news. Look to Iran, see the future if we don't change things. As Christ says in John 8:44 of the devil: "When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." We know where the lies come from, and many American journalists are in bondage to the father of the lies they tell. It may be easy to accept the sweet lies leading to tyranny, but it's always a deadly fight to escape oppression.

A Chinese Threat

WORLDWIDE VIRUS ALERT, ORIGINATING IN CHINA

World Health Organization (WHO) warning hospitals worldwide of possible spreading of novel SARS-like China coronavirus. Chinese New Year approaching. Links to clinical guidance below.

Supplemental Info:

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.

WUHAN CHINA NOVEL CORONAVIRUS

On 31 December 2019, WHO was informed of a cluster of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. Since that date, at least 41 new cases have been identified, as well as one death. Chinese investigators conducted gene sequencing of the virus and have ruled out SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, influenza, avian influenza, adenovirus and other common respiratory pathogens (i.e. a possible new type of coronavirus).

Although the virus was initially thought to be transmitted by animals, the WHO says there is now evidence of human-to-human transmission.

On 13 Jan, the Thai Health Ministry in Bangkok reported that a 61-year-old Chinese woman who had traveled from Wuhan has been been quarantined with the mystery strain, the first time it has been detected outside China.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

A major concern for public health officials worldwide is the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations, during which the largest annual human migration takes place as Chinese people head home to celebrate the Lunar New Year Spring Festival with their families.

The first day of Chinese New Year starts with the new moon, which for 2020 falls on 25 January.

While the legal holiday lasts 7 days (from the Lunar New Year's Eve to the sixth day of the first lunar month), many companies and public institutions enjoy a longer holiday up to 10 days or more. It is also a public holiday in countries such as Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, North Korea, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam.

During last year's celebrations, it is estimated that 2.2 BILLION trips were made by automobile, 400 MILLION by rail, and 73 MILLION by air to and from points around the globe.

- Father God YHVH, we see the threat of this arising pestilence from out of China . . . a threat that could quickly turn into a global epidemic. You know if this was created in a laboratory by evil men, or if it was something that appeared by natural consequences in our sinful world. Whatever it is, and wherever it might want to be spread, we cry out for Your mercy and intervention. Stop the replication of this SARS type virus. Bring forth a quick antidote that will reverse pneumonia and all other manifestation of infection. Put a shield of protection around Your people. Cause those, who may be infected, or carrying this disease, to be aware that they must not travel or gather with others. Cause the doctors and medical professionals to have keen discernment to recognize this affliction quickly, to treat it wisely and effectively; locking it down in isolation swiftly. Protect all airlines from becoming incubators or transmission vehicles for spreading this death. Intervene Holy One! We renounce fear and embrace faith in Your loving ability to reverse this curse. Thank you, dear Father. In the name of Jesus the Christ, AMEN

". . . it is He who delivers you . . . from the deadly pestilence." (Psalm 91:3)

A Classic Hymn

RESCUE THE PERISHING

"Snatch others from the fire and save them." (Jude 23)

Lyrics

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.

Refrain

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.

Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.

Refrain

Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.

Refrain

Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.

Refrain

Puerto Ricans standing on faith amid fear of deadly aftershocks

Puerto Ricans have been praying under a massive cloud of uncertainty about the future since suffering yet another 5.9-magnitude tremor after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked the island last Tuesday, leaving one person dead and significant damage to buildings.

"A prayer circle in Ponce, Puerto Rico with a rainbow above at a time when earthquakes aftershocks are causing damage & fear - here, there's a refusal to be mentally defeated, and for many people, a faith fueled belief that things will be better," CBS This Morning lead correspondent, David Begnaud shared in a tweet from Puerto Rico Sunday amid reports of thousands sleeping outdoors to escape calamity.

The tremor on Saturday was about 8 miles south of Indios in the Caribbean Sea, the US Geological Survey said, at a depth of 6.2 miles.

On Sunday, the USGS also highlighted three likely scenarios that could play out for the earthquake-battered island over the next 30 days, including a 3% chance of "an earthquake significantly larger than the M6.4 that occurred on the 7 January."

"A much less likely scenario than the previous two scenarios is that recent earthquakes could trigger an earthquake significantly larger than the M6.4 that occurred on the 7 January (i.e., M7.0 and above). While this is a very small probability, if such an earthquake were to occur, it would have serious impacts on communities nearby. This size earthquake would also trigger its own aftershock sequence, so the rate of small and moderate earthquakes would increase again," the agency stated.

The USGS noted that the most likely scenario they expect to unfold based on the current seismic activity is that aftershocks will continue to decrease in frequency "and will be significantly lower in magnitude than the M6.4 that occurred on the 7 January."

It was also noted that an earthquake occurring of similar size as the magnitude 6.4 tremor last Tuesday could also occur in an event called a "doublet." A doublet emerges when two large earthquakes of similar size occur closely in time and location. If this happens, additional damage as well as increased aftershocks is likely. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for the faith that is being demonstrated by the people of Puerto Rico. May they find Your stability in this time of literal shaking of their island, and may Your grace be sufficient to meet their every need. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

NEBRASKA'S GOVERNOR DECLARES A 'DAY OF PRAYER' TO END ABORTION ON UPCOMING ROE ANNIVERSARY

Nebraska's governor has declared this year's Roe v. Wade anniversary a "Statewide Day of Prayer" and is urging the state's citizens to "pray for an end to abortion."

Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts released the proclamation Wednesday, designating Jan. 22 as a day of prayer and stating that Nebraska is a "pro-life state." "Since Roe v. Wade, over 50 million unborn children have been killed by abortion in the United States," the proclamation says. "It seems right and fitting that the citizens of the State of Nebraska are urged to pray for an end to abortion and for our fellow citizens who need our love and support"

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
