Satellite Images Show China Building 250 New Nuclear Missile Silos
|
|
Researchers with the Federation of American Scientists uncovered 250 suspected nuclear missile silos under construction in a desert in China’s western Xinjiang province. China's growing nuclear stockpile was just one of many threats highlighted by a Senate Select Intelligence Committee hearing Wednesday.
"Xi Jinping has one goal: to be the geopolitical, military and economic leader in the world. Period,” William Evanina, Fmr. Dir. National Counterintelligence & Security Center, told US lawmakers during the hearing.
Images of a vast site in northern China also reveal multiple silos under construction. These would likely house intercontinental ballistic missiles, with each capable of carrying multiple warheads.
U.S. Strategic Command, the overseer of America's nuclear arsenal, responded to these alarming revelations tweeting: "The public has discovered what we have been saying all along about the growing threat the world faces and the veil of secrecy that surrounds it."
China already has 350 nuclear warheads – an arsenal the Pentagon believes will double over the next decade.
"This rapid buildup has become more difficult to hide, and it highlights how the PRC [People's Republic of China] appears again to be deviating from decades of nuclear strategy based around minimum deterrence,” said State Department Spokesperson Ned Price. 1. Hezbollah warns it will hit Israel again if IDF strikes, releases attack video - Times of Israel
Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Qassem told reporters on Friday that although Hezbollah did not believe it was heading towards an escalation with Israel, they were “prepared to respond” should Israel strike Lebanese territory again.
“Israel must understand that it must stay deterred. Otherwise, we are prepared to respond,” said Qassem, who serves as the Lebanese terror group’s second-in-command.
Tensions have escalated dramatically on Israel’s northern border over the past few days. On Wednesday, rockets fired from Lebanese territory landed in northern Israel, sparking fast-spreading blazes; Israel blamed Palestinian terror groups.
Israel conducted airstrikes that targeted open areas in southern Lebanon on Thursday morning, the first to be publicly acknowledged by Jerusalem since 2014. (Read more)

2. PM Bennett declares Israel will not accept rocket fire from Lebanon, MKs question his ability to follow through - World Israel News
The State of Israel “will not accept rocket fire toward its territory,” Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in Sunday’s security cabinet meeting, addressing Hezbollah’s recent attack on Israel’s northern border.
On Friday 19 rockets were launched toward Israel from southern Lebanon by Hezbollah, and Bennett made it clear that Lebanon must be held responsible.
“Lebanon and the Lebanese army must take responsibility on what takes place in their back yard,” he told cabinet members. “It does not matter to us if it was a Palestinian organization or rouge terrorists,” he noted, “Israel will not accept rocket fire toward its territory.”
Bennett further noted that there is an impotent awakening of “many Lebanese citizens against Hezbollah and Iran’s involvement in the country,” which is experiencing a severe economic and political crisis. “Iran and Hezbollah are complicating Lebanon on the Israeli front,” he said. (Read more)

3. Israel’s Incoming National Security Council Head Meets With Egyptian intelligence Chief in Cairo - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israel’s incoming National Security Chief (NSC) chief reportedly made a surprise trip to Cairo Sunday to meet with Egypt’s head of intelligence Abbas Kamel, according to a senior Israeli official, reported Israeli outlet Walla.
Eyal Hulata traveled to Egypt with outgoing NSC head Meir Ben-Shabbat with the main topic of conversation between the three of them the fragile Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that brought to an end 11 days of fierce fighting during the Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) Operation Guardian of the Walls in May.
This meeting is the first since a new coalition government took over in Israel, with Kamel’s previous interaction a month-and-a-half ago taking place with Ben-Shabbat who in the interim announced that he was standing down, and former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Kamel also visited Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
The meeting comes at a delicate time, with Hamas threatening to reignite hostilities over a number of potential issues; the eviction of families from Sheikh Jarrah and the problems associated with getting promised Qatari humanitarian aid into the Strip, being foremost among them. (Read more)

4. Coronavirus in Israel: 3,849 new cases, severe cases spike to 324 - Jerusalem Post
Some 3,849 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in Israel on Friday, with the number of patients in severe condition spiking to 324 on Saturday, the Health Ministry announced on Saturday night. On Friday, only 253 patients were in serious condition.
Of the patients hospitalized, 49 were on ventilators. The death toll rose to 6,535 on Saturday night. Some 3.79% of the tests conducted on Friday returned positive.
As of Saturday night, 420,109 Israelis had received the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine. (Read more)

5. Extension of 'green badge' limitations on unvaccinated take effect - Israel National News
In accordance with the decisions of the Corona Cabinet, the green badge has been expanded starting this morning, Sunday, and will be implemented in all recreation centers.
The green badge will apply in halls and event centers, conferences, cultural and sports events, restaurants and cafes, cinemas, hotels, gyms and studios and also in synagogues of over 50 people.
These places will allow entry for the vaccinated and recovering or through a negative corona test. At this stage, the green badge will continue to apply only to those aged 12 and over, and starting on Friday, August 20, the green badge will apply for all ages. (Read more)

1. FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test for Aug. 11 Test Messages Will be Sent to TVs and Radios Along with Select Cell Phones That Have Opted-in to Receive Test Messages - www.fema.gov
WASHINGTON – FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) this summer.
The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests will begin at 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
The Wireless Emergency Alert portion of the test will be directed only to consumer cell phones where the subscriber has opted-in to receive test messages. This will be the second nationwide WEA test, but the first nationwide WEA test on a consumer opt-in basis. The test message will display in either English or in Spanish, depending on the language settings of the wireless handset.
The Emergency Alert System portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions. This will be the sixth nationwide EAS test.
FEMA and the FCC are coordinating with EAS participants, wireless providers, emergency managers and other stakeholders in preparation for this national test to minimize confusion and to maximize the public safety value of the test. The test is intended to ensure public safety officials have the methods and systems that will deliver urgent alerts and warnings to the public in times of an emergency or disaster. 2. China warns of 'countermeasures' after US confirms $750 million arms sale to Taiwan - Yahoo.com
China warned the United States could face "countermeasures" following President Joe Biden's approval of a $750 million arms sale for Taiwan as Beijing ramps up its commitment to a "one-China" policy. In response to the administration's announcement of the arms deal this week, the Chinese Embassy released a Thursday statement alleging interference in its internal affairs and saying the U.S. "undermines China's sovereignty and security interests by selling arms to the Taiwan region."
The sale includes 40 self-propelled artillery units, marking the first distribution of defense support for Taiwan since the president took office. The provision will improve Taiwan's security in its efforts to ensure peace and defense of the Taiwan Strait, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s office indicated in a statement Thursday.
The Chinese Embassy said the provision undermines international law and "violates the one-China principle and provisions of the three China-US joint communiques," adding that it sends the "wrong signals to 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces. China will resolutely take legitimate and necessary counter-measures in light of the development of the situation," the embassy added on Thursday. (Read more)

3. Biggest US Navy war games in 40 years to prepare for WW3 across 17 times zones amid tensions with Russia - The Sun.com
THOUSANDS of Marines and sailors are taking part in the US Navy's largest war games in 40 years as Washington "prepares" for a future world war amid rising tensions with Russia and China.
Fleets began the Large Scale Exercise on Tuesday and the drills across 17 time zones will continue until August 16. The war drills are designed to show the US' readiness for a potential global conflict.
Forces will participate in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the exercises are designed to show the US' "readiness" for a potential global conflict. Marines’ ability to conduct operations in difficult environments will be tested during the drills, according to Military.com. It’s thought that 36 ships and more than 50 virtual units will take part in the mission alongside military and civilians, according to the Defense Post.
US 6th Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Gene Black said: “LSE will test our commanders across the spectrum of naval warfare from the tactical to the strategic, integrating the Marine Corps to demonstrate the worldwide fleet’s ability to conduct coordinated operations from the open ocean to the littoral.”
But it remains unknown if China and Russia will “pay attention” to the wargames or if they will be interpreted as an act of aggression. (Read more)

4. Iran ‘working systematically to build serious cyber-attack capabilities’ - JNS.org
Recent revelations about Iranian cyber-attack plots serve as the latest confirmation of how seriously Iran takes this arena, a leading Israeli cyber expert has said. On July 26, Sky News reported that classified documents from Iran “reveal secret research into how a cyber attack could be used to sink a cargo ship or blow up a fuel pump at a petrol station.” The internal files also include information on satellite communication devices used by the global shipping industry and computer systems that control functions such as lighting, heating and ventilation in buildings across the world.
While the report did not reveal new unknown capabilities, they did demonstrate that Iran is “engaging with cyber warfare in a serious manner,” said Professor Col. (res.) Gabi Siboni, an expert on cyber security, military strategy and technology at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security. “The Iranians plan to work in the cybersphere in the most beneficial way for them and most damaging manner for the targets of its attacks—and the target is not just Israel,” said Siboni.
According to Sky News, the classified Iranian document was formulated by the Iranian cyber-attack unit called Shahid Kaveh, which is a part of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ Cyber Command. “The papers appear to reveal a particular interest in researching companies and activities in Western countries, including the United Kingdom, France and the United States,” said Sky. “Such reports are not a surprise, but they do indicate that Iran is working in a highly systematic manner,” said Siboni. 5. Alarm as US Covid cases above 100,000 a day for first time since February - The Guardian UK
Daily Covid-19 cases in the US moved above 100,000 a day for the first time since February, higher than the levels of last summer when vaccines were not available, and came as health officials sounded alarm over lagging rates of vaccination driving the surge of the infectious Delta variant. The seven-day average of hospital admissions has also increased more than 40% from the week before, with health workers describing frustration and exhaustion as hospitals in Covid hotspots were again overwhelmed with patients, almost 20 months into the pandemic in the US.
About half of all new infections and hospitalizations in the past week were in seven southern states – Florida, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi – even though the states represent less than a quarter of the country’s population, said White House coronavirus coordinator, Jeff Zients.
In Mississippi on Thursday, there were 3,164 new confirmed cases, the second highest single-day caseload in the state during the pandemic. “We’re seeing a phenomenal increase in daily reported cases of Covid, and this is entirely attributable to the Delta variant, which is sweeping over Mississippi like a tsunami,” said state health officer Thomas Dobbs. The entire state had just eight ICU beds available on Thursday, officials said, and more than 1,147 people were hospitalized with Covid-19. (Read more)

6. White House to Implement Vaccine Requirement for Visitors, Including Press Corps - mediaite/wathc.org
The White House is implementing a vaccination requirement for visitors, and that includes members of the press.
The White House Correspondents Association sent out a memo to members regarding this new policy, saying there will be a vaccine mandate for all White House visitors “beginning this coming Sunday.”
“Per the below memo from the White House, all who enter the complex are being asked to fill out the attached form attesting to their vaccination status. This requirement will include journalists,” the message reads.
The White House announcement itself says any individuals who don’t want to fill out the form attesting to their vaccine status will have to get tested. “Failure to comply with the new policy could result in a suspension of your hard pass.”
President Joe Biden recently announced that all federal employees must be vaccinated or get regularly tested. (Read more)

7. Border Patrol picks up 834 migrant children illegally sent across border in one day, a record - Washington Examiner
The Border Patrol picked up a record number of unaccompanied children illegally sent into the United States from Mexico on Wednesday, a sign the border crisis is worsening.
Federal data released Thursday evening said that 834 children were encountered by federal agents on the southern border the day before. Each child was alone and without a parent or guardian, according to a fact sheet shared by the Departments of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services.
"Biden's open border policy is a disaster," Sen. Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, tweeted in reaction to the news.
That 834 children came across the border in a single day at the height of summer, when it is most dangerous to travel outside amid triple-digit temperatures in southern border states. The phenomenon indicates that the surge in people coming to the U.S. is not a seasonal influx, as President Joe Biden had claimed earlier this year. (Read more)

8. Carlson 'unmasking' reveals Biden using intel to target 'political enemies' - WND
A former deputy assistant to the president and chief of staff of the National Security Council says the Joe Biden administration needs to answer a couple of key questions about the "unmasking" of Fox News show host Tucker Carlson.
Carlson's name was acquired by the National Security Agency in some of its email spying, and then given to someone in the administration, who then leaked it publicly.
That is just wrong, Fred Fleitz wrote at the Federalist, and someone needs to be giving some explanations.
He explained, "The leaks to the press of NSA collection of Tucker Carlson’s electronic communications suggest the Biden administration either did away with the Trump administration’s rules on unmasking requests, or is ignoring them. In light of this obvious partisan abuse of a U.S. intelligence agency, Congress must press the Biden administration to answer several questions about the Carlson matter." (Read more)

9. DOJ Warns States Performing Audits - IFA
The Justice Department on Wednesday released guidance intended to caution states embarking on so-called post-election ‘audits’ of vote counts for the 2020 presidential election that they must not run afoul of federal voting laws.
The guidance, previously previewed last month by Attorney General Merrick Garland in his policy address on voting rights, outlines federal statutes that the department says elections officials must adhere to during such “audits,” such as preserving all federal elections materials and making sure they’re not tampered with.
“This document sets down a marker that says the Justice Department is concerned about this, and we will be following this closely,” a DOJ official told reporters on a media conference call Wednesday. (Read more)

10. Portland sees Antifa descend on Christian worship event, clash with Proud Boys in streets - Fox News
Videos from Portland showed a crowd of demonstrators violently shut down an event where Christians gathered to pray on the waterfront – before another clash Saturday afternoon involved Antifascists and alleged Proud Boys members throwing projectiles at each other on a city street.
Police officers did not intervene in either confrontation – besides a squad car sounding its siren just feet away.
The first instance of violence happened Saturday at an open-air event planned at Tom McCall Waterfront Park near the Battleship Oregon Memorial to be hosted by Artur Pawlowski, a traveling preacher who’s been arrested in Canada for holding in-person worship services in violation of coronavirus restrictions. Several Antifa Twitter accounts tweeted about the planned event, the Post Millennial reported, and videos posted online showed that a crowd of demonstrators dressed in black bloc attire showed up at the waterfront to confront worshippers.
A male worshipper said a pastor had walked up to ask the group of demonstrators to stop -- but he was pepper sprayed. The woman is seen attending the pastor’s eyes covered by an orange substance.
The Portland Tribune reported that members of the far-right group, Proud Boys, later descended on the worship event and clashed with the Antifa members. Additional video circulated online by independent journalist Andy Ngo shows the clashes carried onto a nearby city street, and the alleged Proud Boys members, seen dressed in yellow and black garb, fired a paint ball gun at several Antifa members. We ask that the face coverings on these fascist people are removed so they can be arrested or repented, in Jesus name. 11. US Postal Service running secret program that tracks people's social media and flags government agencies: Report - Washington Examiner
The United States Postal Service is apparently tracking social media posts as part of a clandestine program searching for “inflammatory” messages.
The program, known as the Internet Covert Operations Program, or iCOP, has not previously been made public and involves analysts combing through social media sites looking for “inflammatory” postings and then sharing those posts with government agencies, according to a document obtained by Yahoo News.
ICOP specifically tracks protests across the country. A March 16 government bulletin obtained by Yahoo, marked as “law enforcement sensitive,” showed that “analysts with the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) monitored significant activity regarding planned protests occurring internationally and domestically on March 20, 2021.” (Read more)

To think that they are now tasked with monitoring social media sites under the guise of protecting and defending the mail system and carriers is shocking. Many were NOT assured that the outcome correctly and accurately represented a legal and accurate one-vote-for-each-qualified-voter election. That compelled qualified experts to initiate investigations therein.

Scientists Warn Gulf Stream May Collapse,

Climate change could plunge the northern hemisphere into a prolonged period of extreme cold.
Scientists are warning that a key system that drives oceanic currents, including the Gulf Stream, is being driven to the brink of collapse in large part due to human-caused climate change, The Washington Post reports — and it could cause a wave of freezing temperatures in Europe and North America.
The “Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation” (AMOC) system is a vital part of the way the world’s oceans function, transporting warm and much denser saltwater from the tropics to northern Europe, where it cools down and makes its long journey back along the ocean floor.
But according to a new study from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany and published in the journal Nature Climate Change today, this system is becoming increasingly more susceptible to disruptions. Read More

Pro-Life Win: Court Upholds 48-Hour Waiting Period, Says Tenn. Can Protect the ‘Life of the Unborn’

A federal appeals court handed the pro-life community a major victory Thursday when it upheld a Tennessee law that requires a pregnant woman to wait 48 hours before obtaining an abortion. The law, which initially went into effect in 2015, had been struck down last year by a federal judge as unconstitutional.
But on Thursday, the U.S. Sixth Court of Appeals, in a 9-7 decision, reversed the lower court and upheld the law, saying Supreme Court precedent allows waiting periods. The law requires that a pregnant woman wait 48 hours after an initial clinic visit to obtain an abortion. It also requires the woman be given certain information, including the age of the unborn child, the alternatives to abortion, and the medical risks of abortion and pregnancy.
“Before making life’s big decisions, it is often wise to take time to reflect,” Judge Amul R. Thapar wrote for the majority. “The people of Tennessee believed that having an abortion was one of those decisions. So they passed a law requiring a waiting period of 48 hours. Although the Supreme Court upheld a similar 24-hour waiting period in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the district court said that Tennessee’s waiting period violates a woman’s right to have an abortion. We disagree and reverse.” (Christian Headlines) Read more.

We ask any pregnant woman who is considering having an abortion would truly take advantage of this waiting period before taking an action that they would regret.
