National Guard troops flooding in as Washington locks down
The number of National Guard troops coming to Washington to assist with security has so far grown to about 21,000, Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, told Vice President Mike Pence at a briefing Thursday. And officials have said the number could grow as law enforcement agencies review the ongoing threats. “Clearly we are in uncharted waters,” said Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Police vehicles sealed off a huge swath of downtown D.C. on Wednesday, causing immediate traffic snarls. Starting Wednesday, Bowser said, anyone inside the inauguration perimeter might be stopped and questioned. Starting Friday, all parking garages in the downtown restricted zone will be sealed through the inauguration. Bowser is asking D.C. residents to avoid the downtown area entirely, and the city announced that 13 Metro stations inside the security perimeter will shut down for several days.
Bowser is also being pushed to deny lodging options to potentially violent protesters. The local Black Lives Matter affiliate and Shutdown DC issued a joint statement Wednesday urging all downtown hotels to voluntarily close and pay their staffs. In addition to the threat of violence, the activist groups say Trump supporters are a threat to the health of hotel staff for their general refusal to wear facemasks during the pandemic. Several downtown hotels, including one which had become a favorite hangout of the militant Proud Boy faction, chose to avoid trouble by closing last week.
“Closing hotels completely for these six nights is the only way to guarantee the safety of hotel workers, neighbors, vulnerable and unhoused residents, incoming administration officials, members of Congress, and our democracy,” the statement said. “If hotels do not willingly close, we ask Mayor Bowser to extend today’s emergency order and close all hotels in the city.”
On Wednesday, Airbnb announced it was canceling all reservations in the Washington metro area. Bowser said she had been in regular contact with Airbnb officials since last week, but did not specifically request this step. “We are aware of reports emerging yesterday afternoon regarding armed militias and known hate groups that are attempting to travel and disrupt the Inauguration,” a company statement said. “We are continuing our work to ensure hate group members are not part of the Airbnb community.”
On the ground, much of the most visible security will come in the form of the National Guard troops, some of them armed. Pentagon officials approved requests to have some of them carry either long guns or handguns, particularly those assigned near the Capitol building. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss security details. National Guard members operate under strict rules of engagement on the use of force. But generally speaking, troops can use lethal force to protect the lives of others and themselves. (AP) Read more here.

1. IDF Attacks Hamas in Gaza After Shots Fired at IDF Engineers - Jewish Press
An IDF tank attacked a Hamas position in Gaza on Wednesday in response to gunfire aimed in two separate attacks at Israeli military bulldozers carrying out work in Israeli territory, the IDF Spokesperson said.
According to the report, the attacks came while IDF engineers were carrying out repair operations on the western side of the security fence that borders southern Gaza.
At least one of the vehicles was damaged in the attack, according to the IDF.
In response to the attacks, Israeli tanks shelled an empty Hamas outpost near the border – basically tin shacks – later shown in photos published by Arab media. (Read more).
2. Gantz: Whoever prays in a synagogue, mosque puts life of others in danger - Jerusalem Post
There is no point in continuing the ongoing lockdown in Israel unless all violators are treated equally, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on Sunday just two days before the cabinet is set to meet to discuss a Health Ministry recommendation to extend the current closure.
Gantz singled out Ultra-Otrthodox (haredi) Jews and Israeli-Arabs who stand out as the most prominent violators. His comments came amid reports that haredi schools were continuing to operate in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and other parts of the country despite a government decision to shut down the entire education system.
“Whoever opens a Talmud Torah [religious elementary school]; whoever prays in a synagogue, a mosque or a church; whoever meets with a large number of people is putting the lives of others in danger,” he said. (Read more)
3. Lapid: No talks with Gantz - Israel National News
Yesh Atid chairman MK Yair Lapid denied that any talks are taking place with Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz on a potential joint run between their parties.
"There are no negotiations between me and Benny Gantz, we have not spoken since Blue and White's dissolution. Our door is open because a governmental alternative must be produced," Lapid told Israel Hayom..
Gantz issued a statement saying, "I am very concerned that Huldai, Bogie, Shelach and Zelicha will npt pass the electoral threshold, and do not call for unification. Friends, unite and then we'll win." (Read more)
4. PA to hold elections for first time in 14 years - Israel Hayom
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday announced that the first presidential and parliamentary elections since 2006 will be held later this year. But the road to the vote – key to advancing Palestinian statehood and mending a rift between Abbas' Fatah party and the Islamic militant group Hamas – is littered with obstacles.
Parliamentary elections are to be held on May 22, followed by a presidential vote on July 31. The rival factions will meet in Egypt later this month, hoping to work out logistics and settle their differences before election campaigns kick-off, his office said.
The announcement is widely seen as a gesture aimed at pleasing US President-elect Joe Biden, with whom the Palestinians want to reset relations after they reached a low under Donald Trump. (Read more)
5. Israel holds historic energy summit with Arab states - Israel Hayom
For the first time since the signing of the Abraham Accords, energy ministers from Israel, Morocco, Sudan, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the United States convened a video conference on Thursday evening.
The historic conference was held in the wake of the successful meeting last month in Abu Dhabi that included the energy ministers from Israel, the UAE, Bahrain and the US. Within the framework of that meeting, the ministers decided to meet for a second time and expand their energy-related partnerships to include Morocco and Sudan, which recently normalized relations with Israel, and Egypt as well, which is spearheading the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF).
Participating in Thursday's video conference were Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz, US Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette, Egyptian Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla, Emirati Energy Minister Mohamed Faraj al-Mazrouei, Bahraini Energy Minister Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed, Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines and Environment Aziz Rabbah, and Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining Khairy Abdel Rahman.
The ministers discussed matters pertaining to oil and natural gas, energy efficiency, renewable energy, research and development. They also discussed the ways to improve national security, economic prosperity and further investment in infrastructure and technology. (Read more)

8. UN Textbooks in Gaza, PA Full of Israel Hatred, Praise of Jihadists

Thursday, 14 January 2021 | A report published Wednesday shows that textbooks distributed by the United Nations’ [UN’s] Palestinian refugee agency include incitement against Israel and glorification of terrorists who committed atrocious acts of violence.
The report published by the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se) found that textbooks produced by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) include inciting material across all subjects and grades.
UNWRA has been left severely crippled in 2018 after the administration of US President Donald Trump decided to cancel all US funding to the organization, citing anti-Israel bias and misuse of funds.
The report shows that UNRWA’s study material frequently references and sometimes directly reproduces texts and phrases from the Palestinian Authority’s [PA’s] textbooks, which include glorification of violence and sacrificing of one’s life in order to defend the “motherland.” (Read more)

9. Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Announces Construction of Permanent US Embassy - JNS
Thursday, 14 January 2021 | The city of Jerusalem has approved plans to build the permanent US embassy in Jerusalem, in addition to an extension of the current temporary embassy, announced the city’s deputy mayor on Wednesday.
“The Jerusalem Municipal Building and Planning Committee has just approved the plans for the new #US Embassy which will be built on Derech Hebron in #Jerusalem. As well as the extension of the current temporary embassy in Arnona,” tweeted Fleur Hassan-Nahoum.
The US moved its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May 2018, five months after recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

1. World Will Live With COVID ‘Forever’ Insists Top Pharma CEO - The National Pulse
The CEO of Covid-19 vaccine maker Moderna warned Wednesday that the coronavirus that has brought world economies to a standstill and overwhelmed hospitals will be around “forever.”
Public health officials and infectious disease experts have said there is a high likelihood that Covid-19 will become an endemic disease, meaning it will become present in communities at all times, though likely at lower levels than it is now.
Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel appeared to agree Wednesday that Covid-19 will become endemic, saying “SARS-CoV-2 is not going away.”
“We are going to live with this virus, we think, forever,” he said during a panel discussion at the JPMorgan Healthcare Conference.
Health officials will have to continuously watch for new variants of the virus, so scientists can produce vaccines to fight them, he said. Researchers in Ohio said Wednesday they’ve discovered two new variants likely originating in the U.S. and that one of them quickly became the dominant strain in Columbus, Ohio, over a three-week period in late December and early January. 2. 55 People Died in US After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccines: Reporting System - The Epoch Times
Fifty-five people in the United States have died after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, according to reports submitted to a federal system.
Deaths have occurred among people receiving both the Moderna and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, according to the reports.
The reporting system, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), is a federal database. The system is passive, meaning reports aren’t automatically collected and must be filed. VAERS reports can be filed by anyone, including health care providers, patients, or family members.
VAERS reports “often lack details and sometimes can have information that contains errors,” according to the reporting system’s website. Still, reports on VAERS represent “only a small fraction of actual adverse events,” the site states, though underreporting is believed to be less common for serious events.
In some cases, patients died within days of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. (Read more)

3. White House Showcases List of Trump Presidency Accomplishments - The Epoch Times
The White House published a long list of President Donald Trump’s accomplishments during his presidency.
The document titled “Trump Administration Accomplishments” lists what the outgoing president achieved in the last four years, including an unprecedented economic boom before the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic, job opportunities for Americans of all backgrounds, tax relief for the middle class, job creation and investments in Opportunity Zones, deregulation, and trade policies and deals.
Some iconic pillars of the president’s agenda mentioned in the list are over 450 miles of new border wall, over $2.2 trillion in military spending, and a rebuilding of the judiciary system.
With help from the GOP’s majority in the Senate, Trump successfully installed three conservative-leaning justices in the Supreme Court and appointed over 230 federal judges and 54 judges to various courts of appeals.
The list also highlights Trump’s upholding of religious freedom in the United States and globally, including “imposed restrictions on certain Chinese officials, internal security units, and companies” for their complicity in persecuting members of religious groups in China. (Read more)

4. Obamagate Documents Ordered Declassified by President Trump in Last-Minute Move: Report - The Western Journal
President Donald Trump has ordered the declassification of intelligence documents related to “Obamagate,” and the documents will be released to the public before he leaves office, according to a new report. Just the News Editor-in-Chief John Solomon told Fox Business host Lou Dobbs on Thursday that the president has ordered the release of “more than a foot-high stack of documents” related to the Russia investigation.
“These are the things that the FBI has tried to keep from the public for four years. They have amazing big-picture revelations,” Solomon said. “Let’s start with what I think is the most important one: Christopher Steele and his debriefings with the FBI after he was fired for leaking.”
The documents reportedly say that Steele admitted he leaked the information in order to cover up Hillary Clinton’s email problem and turn the attention on Trump.Clinton had used an unauthorized, unsecured private email server during her time as secretary of state.
“The Russia collusion narrative was invented to protect Hillary Clinton from ongoing revelations about her email scandal,” Solomon said. “It was a political dirty trick, and that was Christopher Steele’s own words.” (Read more)

5. The 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump - The Guardian UK
Ten Republican members of the US House of Representatives voted to impeach Donald Trump over the deadly insurrection at the Capitol, making it the most bipartisan presidential impeachment in US history. The break with the president stood in sharp contrast to the unanimous support for Trump among House Republicans when he was first impeached by Democrats in 2019.
All Democrats who voted supported impeachment, while 197 Republicans voted no.
How the Senate will fall on Trump’s second impeachment trial vote remains to be seen. Two-thirds of the 100-member body are required to convict a president, meaning 17 Republicans would have to join Democrats to render a guilty verdict. So far only a small number of Republican senators have indicated an openness to convicting the president in a senate trial, which is now set to begin after Biden’s inauguration. Mitch McConnell, the top-ranking Republican in the Senate, indicated to colleagues that he is undecided on how he would vote.

6. House Committees Open Investigation Into Jan. 6 Capitol Breach - The Epoch Times
Four House committees on Saturday formally opened a joint investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Mass.), House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) sent a letter (pdf) on Saturday to FBI Director Christopher Wray, National Counterterrorism Center Acting Director Steve Vanech, Department of Homeland Security senior official Joseph Maher, and Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe demanding information related to the Jan. 6 breach and the security of coming inauguration.
“As the first step, and as described in the annex to this letter, the Committees ask that your organizations produce relevant documents, and schedule briefings, regarding specific intelligence matters associated with the insurrection and threats to the U.S. presidential inaugurations,” the committee leaders, all Democrats, wrote in the letter.
The Democrats requested the agencies to provide related documents no later than 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 15.
They also required the agencies to come before the House Committees for a series of briefings starting from the week of Jan. 22-26. (Read more)

7. In-person March for Life canceled for all but ‘small group of pro-life leaders’ - LifeSite News
Organizers of the annual March for Life in the nation’s capital have announced that the mass gathering against abortion is being effectively canceled this year in place of a virtual event, with only a “small group of pro-life leaders” invited to demonstrate in person.
“The protection of all of those who participate in the annual March, as well as the many law enforcement personnel and others who work tirelessly each year to ensure a safe and peaceful event, is a top priority of the March for Life,” MFL president Jeanne Mancini said in a press release. “In light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic which may be peaking, and in view of the heightened pressures that law enforcement officers and others are currently facing in and around the Capitol, this year’s March for Life will look different.”
LifeSiteNews’ Calvin Freiburger predicted Wednesday that the March, which was to take place Friday, January 29, would be the target of renewed pressure to cancel in light of the riot at the US Capitol last week following a rally and march in support of President Donald Trump’s protest of the 2020 election certification, where Democrats and their allies, as well as a handful of “pro-life” voices affiliated with the NeverTrump movement, claim Trump “incited violence” despite his speech calling only for peaceful protest to support Republicans who demanded an audit of the election results.
“The annual rally will take place virtually and we are asking all participants to stay home and to join the March virtually,” she continued. “We will invite a small group of pro-life leaders from across the country to march in Washington, DC this year. These leaders will represent pro-life Americans everywhere who, each in their own unique ways, work to make abortion unthinkable and build a culture where every human life is valued and protected.” (Read more)

4. ‘President-elect Biden will seek after the heart of God,’ says pastor who will give benediction at inauguration - Christian Post
The Rev. Silvester Beaman, pastor of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Delaware, who will deliver the benediction at President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony next Wednesday, says he's confident the president-elect will “seek after the heart of God” to lead the country.
“This final blessing over the event is God’s opportunity to cover the nation in grace as we launch the Biden-Harris administration. I personally know that President Biden will seek after the heart of God, it has been his lifestyle over the years. In his toughest moments it has been the light of God’s love that has guided and sustained him,” Beaman said in a statement on Facebook Thursday.
The pastor, who has known the Biden family for nearly 30 years and is a close confidante and friend of the president-elect, hosted Biden at his church in the summer of 2020 following the death of George Floyd where he met with parishioners and black community leaders to discuss racism and police brutality.
Beaman called his invitation to deliver the benediction at Biden’s inauguration “an extreme honor” and said he believes that Biden, who is Catholic, “will be seeking God’s grace daily.”
“It is an extreme honor and seminal moment to have been asked by President-elect Joseph R. Biden to pronounce the benediction during the 59th Inaugural Celebration in our Nation’s Capital, January 20, 2021,” he said. “There is nothing more strenuous or crucial than being the leader of the free world. 9. Forced from Obama Admin for Praising Mao, Anita Dunn to Return to White House - Washington Free Beacon
President-elect Joe Biden will tap Anita Dunn, an Obama-administration alumna who praised Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong’s political philosophy, for senior White House adviser, Axios reported Friday. Dunn’s last stint in the White House ended after just seven months, when she resigned after former Fox News anchor Glenn Beck aired a clip of the then-communications director saying Mao was one of her "favorite political philosophers."
Dunn worked as senior adviser for the Biden campaign from 2019 until last spring when she took over its operations following a disastrous Iowa caucus showing. She then became co-chair of Biden’s transition team after his victory in November.
Dunn served as former president Barack Obama’s communications director from April to November 2009, when she resigned following controversy surrounding her comments on Mao’s determination to conquer China and establish a communist regime. Mao’s communist takeover of China led to the deaths of an estimated 45 million people.
Between her time in the Obama White House and joining team Biden, Dunn worked as managing director for SKDKnickerbocker, a strategist group with ties to pro-abortion organizations such as Emily’s List, NARAL, and Planned Parenthood. (Read more)

10. Massive Iran missile drill is message to US, Gulf and Israel - Jerusalem Post
A massive Iranian missile drill showcasing long range missiles, drones and other weapons is taking place this weekend and serves as a message to Gulf countries, the US and Israel. It comes a year after Iran launched ballistic missiles at US forces in Iraq and follows Tehran’s sending of missile technology to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen in recent years.
A report said that Iran used drones to attack a missile defense system and then fired a barrage of Zolfaghar, Zelzal and Dezful ballistic missiles. The drones were supposed to neutralize air defenses for the incoming missiles.
A recent report at Newsweek alleged Iran has a kamikaze drone base in Yemen with delta-wing style drones . . . Reports say some of these drones have a 2,000 km. range, meaning they can reach Israel. The missiles also have a long enough range to possibly target Israel, depending on where they are fired from. They can also target US ships and Gulf states.
North Korea, which is working with Iran on missile technology, also did a military parade last week, showing off their own new missiles. It now has a submarine-launched ballistic missile. These two countries are showing what they have built over the last years during the Trump administration, presenting new incoming US President-elect Joe Biden with a kind of massive missile fait accompli. - Almighty God, thank You for intervening to bring massive floods into the places where the Iranian missiles, drones and other weapons are housed that will disarm them and render them useless. God, cut the means of sending missile technology to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen. Lord, send a metal-eating virus upon Zolfaghar, Zelzal and Dezful ballistic missiles. We pray You destroy the Kamikaze drone base in Yemen by fire that melts them to powder. Come against North Korea by massively stirring their technology to unintelligible recognition. God we truly trust You on all this. In the Name of Jesus we pray.

We are in the thickest cloud of this spiritual war we are presently in with seemingly a lack of credible information; disinformation; discerning what is true or false – we could go on and on. So much is coming out it is difficult to discern truth from error.
The President seems to be silent and very calm. We have to trust that God is using our President as an Isaiah 45 Cyrus. Our faith is being tested so the “Praying Remnant” must “Hold the Line”. The “Red Sea” moment we are in is very threatening to us all because of what is at stake! We as a praying church are being positioned to trust the Lord beyond what we were capable of in the past for most of us.
When January 20th passes, the challenge will be to think it is over…it is not! Will it be a “February Fury” as stated by a prophet? We will continue to pray as a faithful remnant, and we will see who will choose to stay on the wall of prayer! Our prayer call will be focusing on several target areas. We will “Stay the Course”.
PRAYER POINT TO PONDER: We must diligently pray for President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo to be at peace in decisions they will be making these next 2 days. Also, pray for our military as they have been called to uphold the U.S Constitution! Choices will have to be made!

I encourage you all in the frontline to station yourselves on your Ramparts and Watch what God is going to do in your nation - America - a Great Democratic Nation in the world.
During our hour of Global Upper Room Prayer today God gave me Habakkuk 1:5 "that God is going to do something in America that other nations in the world will be utterly amazed, that they will find it hard to believe even if they were told.” Because you as Watchmen of USA stationed yourselves on your ramparts around your nation and many of us stationed ourselves on our ramparts and watched with you in our prayers, God will deliver your nation in a miraculous way.
Right now God will continue to expose the evil plans of the enemy big time and He will overturn evil for good for the sake of His Children in America. We stand with you in this struggle. I am leading the Convergence House of Prayer here on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland.
