2,000 National Guard Troops in DC Sworn in as Special Deputy US Marshals
About 2,000 National Guard troops were sworn in as U.S. Marshals before Inauguration Day, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Chief Lamont Ruffin from D.C. District Court swore in the 2,000 National Guard troops as special deputy U.S. Marshals prior to the presidential inauguration, according to the federal law enforcement agency’s Twitter page.
The “deputation gives the guardsmen temporary, limited, law enforcement authority pertaining specifically to the safety and protection of the inauguration and related events,” the U.S. Marshals said in a caption on its Flickr page, showing the Guard troops being deputized at night.
A statement from the Army to news outlets said the increase in Guard troops would support the “federal law enforcement mission and security preparations” during the inauguration, and it would be led by the U.S. Secret Service.
“Our National Guard soldiers and airmen are set around the city to protect our nation’s Capital,” National Guard Bureau Chief Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson said in the statement. (Read more)

Focus on Israel
1. As Israeli death toll tops 4,000, ministers set to extend lockdown for 3rd week - Times of Israel
A majority of ministers are expected to back extending the tightened national lockdown by another week beyond its Thursday expiration date, amid discouraging data morbidity data presented to the cabinet.
As of Sunday night, 1,945 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, of some 81,000 active cases, and 1,177 are in serious condition. The national death toll rose to 4,005, having passed 4,000 during the day and rising by some 1,000 over the past month alone.
Meanwhile, Israel’s vaccination drive continues apace, with more than 290,000 Israelis having gotten the second dose of the vaccine and over 2,100,000 the first shot.
Channel 13 reported that an extension of the lockdown is backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein. Defense Minister Benny Gantz backs it so long as there is equal enforcement for the ultra-Orthodox community, where there are ongoing breaches of regulations and where some 20 percent of tests are coming back positive compared to around 5% in the general population.

2. Smotrich: Decision to run separately from Yamina is final - Israel National News
MK Bezalel Smotrich denied Monday claims that he is negotiating behind the scenes with the Yamina party for a joint run, saying that his decision to rebrand the National Union as the Religious Zionist Party and run separately from Yamina is final.
Speaking with Reshet Bet Monday morning, Smotrich said that the new Religious Zionist Party would remain apart from Yamina, while seeking possible alliances with other rightist factions, alluding to Otzma Yehudit.
“We have raised our flag; we are running as a national-religious party with a large national-religious public, synagogues, youth groups – this isn’t a stock on the stock exchange.” (Read more)
3. Bayit Yehudi to hold leadership primaries, Netanyahu interferes - Jerusalem Post
The 960 central committee members of the Bayit Yehudi Party will vote on Tuesday to select a new leader, in place of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Rafi Peretz, who is quitting politics.
Bayit Yehudi does not cross the threshold on its own in any poll. But the race is seen as a bellwether on the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has interfered in the primary.
Netanyahu persuaded Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Hagit Moshe to enter the race. If she wins, she is expected to pursue a bond with the Religious Zionist Party (formerly the National Union), whose leader, MK Bezalel Smotrich, at Netanyahu’s request, decided not to run with Naftali Bennett’s Yamina Party.
The prime minister hopes parties led by Smotrich and Moshe running together will cross the 3.25% electoral threshold and join a coalition he would build. (Read more)
4. Israeli opposition leader signals willingness to build government with Arab party - World Israel News
Opposition leader Yair Lapid said Saturday he is willing to have Israel’s Arab party, the Joint List, sit in a government in order to ensure that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is ousted from power.
“I am the one who led the move that said, ‘There is no problem to form a government with the support of the Joint List,'” Lapid, leader of the center-left Yesh Atid party, told Channel 12 news.
Asked if he was prepared to lead a government where Arab parties were members, Lapid replied, “Yes, of course.”
“I hope we will reach the situation were we [Yesh Atid] have good relations with the Joint [List],” Lapid said. (Read more)
5. 2 Gaza Rockets Aimed at Ashdod Fell in the Mediterranean, IAF Retaliated - Jewish Press
An IDF spokesman announced early Monday morning that two rockets that had been launched from the northern Gaza Strip in the direction of Ashdod fell into the Mediterranean sea and there were no resulting incidents or damage, nor was the red alert activated.
Following the launch of the two rockets, IAF fighter jets attacked Hamas terrorist targets in the southern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF’s Spokesperson, the Air Force attacked “workshops teaching tunnel-digging operated by the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip.”
A rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip in late December but did not cross into Israeli territory. The red alert was activated in Kibbutz Kerem Shalom on the Gaza border. A week earlier, two rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Ashkelon, and were intercepted by an iron dome. One resident, 20, suffered an anxiety attack and was evacuated to Barzilai Hospital in the city. In response, the IDF attacked a rocket manufacturing site, underground infrastructure, and a Hamas military post. (Read more)

1. Manchin says 14th Amendment ouster should be 'consideration' for Sens. Hawley, Cruz - Fox
West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says removing Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, over their objections to the 2020 presidential election results should be "a consideration." In an interview Friday on PBS's "Firing Line," Manchin said the senators' insistence on objecting to Pennsylvania’s Electoral College votes even after supporters of President Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol was "totally unconscionable" and triggering the 14th Amendment is now an option.
The third section of the amendment states that no lawmaker holding office "shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." Congress may "by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability," the section states.
Added to the Constitution after the Civil War, the amendment was designed to cover instances of sedition, Manchin told host Margaret Hoover. "That those people should never hold public office, they should never have the public microphone, they should never be allowed to be in a position of power or of decision-making, or purpose, because they're going to serve themselves," he said. 2. 'Rein in' the media: AOC urges Congress to go full Big Brother - WND
Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Tuesday that Congress is looking into reining in “our media environment” to prevent the spread of disinformation.
Ocasio-Cortez discussed how she feared for her life during last week’s Capitol Riot in a live stream on Instagram Tuesday evening, Fox News reported. A viewer asked Ocasio-Cortez if Congress is discussing “truth and reconciliation or media literacy initiatives” to help with healing following the turbulent events of the past few weeks, the publication reported.
“I can say, there is absolutely a commission being discussed but it seems to be more investigatory in style rather than truth and reconciliation, so I think that’s an interesting concept for us to explore,” Ocasio-Cortez said. (Read more)

3. House Committed Six Violations of the Constitution During Impeachment: Alan Dershowitz - The Epoch Times
Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said that the House violated six independent points of the Constitution when impeaching President Donald Trump. In an interview with Newsmax, Dershowitz said: “They violated the free speech provision. They violated the impeachment criteria. They violated the bill of attainder. They violated due process, on and on and on. . . . How can you impeach a president for a speech that is constitutionally protected?” he said.
The law expert said that Congress is not above the law, but that ironically, they have protection from culpability for what they do on the Senate floor. “But the only sanction is to vote them out of office and to bring them to trial in the court of public opinion,” Dershowitz told host Carl Higbie. “Senators and congressmen are immune from lawsuits for what they do or say on the floor of the Senate, so there can’t be any personal lawsuits.”
“The Constitution is very clear, the purpose of impeachment is removal,” he said. “The Senate cannot try an ordinary citizen.”
On a single article of impeachment, the House voted 232–197 to impeach President Trump, on Wednesday for “incitement of insurrection.” Democrats and 10 Republicans contended Trump incited the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol. (Read more)

4. Josh Hawley’s Florida fundraiser canceled by Loews Hotels after liberal lawyer posts flyer online - Fox News
A planned February fundraiser in Florida for U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley was canceled Saturday as hotel chain Loews Hotels decided to pull out of the event. The Loews cancelation was among the latest examples of fallout facing Republicans following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. It came after liberal Florida attorney Daniel Uhlfelder obtained a flyer for the Hawley event and posted it online, referring to Hawley as a "traitor" and asking the hotel chain why it was supporting the Missouri Republican.
Uhlfelder praised the Loews decision, saying the company "did the right thing" by canceling Hawley, who was among the GOP lawmakers leading the effort to oppose Democrat Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory over President Trump. It’s good corporate responsibility," Uhlfelder said, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Loews owns the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando, where Hawley was to be the featured guest at a family-oriented event Feb. 12-15 organized by Fighting for Missouri, a group that raised more than $272,000 for the senator last year, the Sentinel reported. (Read more)

5. USPS temporarily removes, suspends mail collection in some major cities ahead of inauguration - Fox News
The United States Postal Service will temporarily shut down post offices in the nation’s capital in preparation of next week’s Inauguration Day. Collection boxes also were moved or locked, suspending mail locations from certain areas in Washington.
But a spokesperson for the federal mail service told Fox News that the process was a part of its protocol.
"It’s part of our normal procedures to keep our employees and customers safe during times of protest or when large crowds are gathered near postal facilities, on postal routes, or by mailboxes," the USPS said in a statement Saturday. More than 15 different USPS locations have been were disrupted in D.C., with varying days of reopening.
D.C. will see massive street closures on Jan. 20 -- a normal security procedure for the swearing in of a U.S. president -- but this year security has been heighted to an unprecedented level with the deployment of 21,000 National Guardsmen and 5,000 active duty troops. (Read more)

6. WATCH: ‘An Organization Led By A Criminal’: De Blasio Severs All Contracts Between NYC And Trump Organization - Daily Wire
On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the city would sever all its contracts with the Trump Organization, charging President Trump with “criminal activity” and adding, “inciting an insurrection against the United states government clearly constitutes criminal activity.”
De Blasio appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” with co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, where he said:
I’m here to announce that the city of New York is severing all contracts with the Trump Organization. Our legal team has done an assessment and the contracts make very clear: if a company, the leadership of that company engage in criminal activity we have the right to sever the contract. Inciting an insurrection — let’s be clear; I’m going to say these words again — inciting an insurrection against the United States government clearly constitutes criminal activity. So the city of New York will no longer have anything to do with the Trump Organization; they have profited from these contracts; they will profit no longer.
“The contracts are for two ice-skating rinks at Central Park, the Central Park Carousel and the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point, a city-owned golf course in the Bronx,” The New York Times reported, adding, “The Trump Organization operates Wollman Rink, near Central Park’s southern edge, and Lasker Rink, in the northern end of the park. Both contracts were set to expire in April.”
“Right now the Trump Organization profits almost $17 million a year from these contracts; they cover four different sites; three in Manhattan, one in the Bronx,” de Blasio told “Morning Joe.” “Different entertainment sites, and look, it’s quite clear: the President of the United States directed a mob to attack the U.S. Congress during the Electoral College vote.” (Read more)

7. Some 9,000 Honduran Migrants Cross North Into Guatemala – The Epoch Times
Guatemalan authorities estimated Saturday that as many as 9,000 Honduran migrants had crossed into Guatemala as part of an effort to form a new caravan to reach the U.S. border. Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei issued a statement calling on Honduran authorities “to contain the mass exit of its inhabitants.” The migrants pushed past about 2,000 police and soldiers posted at the border Friday and Saturday, and most entered without showing the negative coronavirus test that Guatemala requires.
“The government of Guatemala regrets this violation of national sovereignty and calls on the governments of Central America to take measures to avoid putting their inhabitants at risk amid the health emergency due to the pandemic,” Giammattei’s statement continued.
Mexico continued to drill thousands of National Guard members and immigration agents on its southern border, in a show of force meant to discourage the caravan from crossing into Mexico. (Read more)

8. Biden to Push Through Executive Orders, Pursue New Legislation in First 10 Days of Office – The Epoch Times
President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team has laid out the incoming administration’s priorities for its first ten days in office, including several executive actions to reverse President Donald Trump’s policies and the issuing of a mask mandate on federal property.
“In his first ten days in office, President-elect Biden will take decisive action to address … four crises, prevent other urgent and irreversible harms, and restore America’s place in the world,” according to a memo by Ron Klain, the incoming administration’s chief of staff.
Klain said Biden will focus on combating the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus pandemic, the resulting economic crisis, as well as addressing climate change and racial injustice issues that the incoming administration argue are most pressing crises in the country.
Biden’s plan will include signing a series of executive orders, starting with an order for the Department of Education to extend the existing pause on student loan repayments and interest for millions of Americans on day one. Biden will also take executive action to rejoin the United Nation’s 2015 Paris climate agreement, from which the United States formally withdrew on Nov. 4, and reverse a travel ban that limited entry into the United States of foreign nationals who were deemed a threat to America. 9. Pentagon moves Israel into Central Command to boost cooperation with Arab states – Times of Israel
With a nod to Israel’s increasingly normalized relations with the Arab world, the Pentagon is reorganizing its global command structure to include the Jewish state in the military sphere managed by US Central Command, which includes other Middle East countries. The move will allow for greater collaboration against Iran, the primary regional foe of Israel, the US and some Arab countries.
Israel for decades had been in the sphere of European Command because of its generally hostile relations with many Arab countries, a condition that was viewed as making it difficult for Central Command (CENTCOM) to do business with both Israel and the Arab world. Central Command’s area of responsibility stretches across the Middle East to Central Asia, including the Persian Gulf region as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan.
President Donald Trump ordered the shift earlier this week following lobbying from several pro-Israel groups in Washington, and the Pentagon made the official announcement on Friday. (Read more)

10. IL CONGRESS MEMBER SIGNS ONTO EFFORT TO REMOVE CHRISTIAN INFLUENCE FROM AMERICAN CULTURE – Illinois Review
The name of a Congressional member that represents Illinois' 6th CD - which includes what was once known as America's center of Christian Evangelism, Wheaton College, where the late evangelist Billy Graham attended college - is included among a group demanding President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris remove Christian influence from the nation's culture.
"We urge you to lead our nation on a path that revives the Founders’ vision of religious freedom in our government and promotes a unifying patriotic pluralism—not dogmatic religious chauvinism—in American society," states the Secular Democrats of America within a 28-page list of demands. "We believe that this is a moment not only to enact policies to advance constitutional secularism but to position the Democratic Party to take back the mantle of religious freedom and pluralism from the Republican Party."
The document, presented to the Biden-Harris transition team by Representatives Jamie Raskin and Jared Huffman, was endorsed by Representative Jerry McNerney. Those three are listed as founding members of the Congressional Freethought Caucus - one of which is Illinois Congress member Sean Casten (IL-6). [Read more]

What purpose did it serve for President-elect Joe Biden to liken Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) to Adolf Hitler's top propagandist Joseph Goebbels?
In response to a question about the two Republican lawmakers following remarks on January 8, Biden said, "I was being reminded by a friend of mine...when we're told [about] Goebbels and the great lie, you keep repeating the lie, repeating the lie."
Although Biden's comparison was imperfectly stated, it was clear enough to follow. He was saying that the lawmakers' efforts to challenge the Electoral College votes from disputed states was a Nazi-like effort.
By speaking this way, Biden did many things at once. First, he whitewashed Goebbels' barbaric crimes. Goebbels was the chief architect of totalitarianism in Nazi Germany and one of the lead architects of the Holocaust.
. . .The second thing Biden did by comparing Hawley and Cruz to Goebbels was to whitewash the unspeakable crimes of Nazi Germany. After all, if merely questioning certain election returns is the moral equivalent of Goebbels' "Big Lie," then the Big Lie was actually no big deal.
The third thing Biden did by comparing Hawley and Cruz to Goebbels was set them up for what Orwell referred to as "un-personing"—or in today's culture, "canceling."
. . . And this brings us to the fourth thing that Biden did [to them] . . . the indisputable fact is that their actions were both legal and widely supported by their constituents.
. . . By conflating the constitutional, democratic behavior of the senators and their colleagues with Goebbels' crimes, Biden accomplished a fifth goal. He demonized as Nazis these officials' voters who had urged them to act—and by extension, threw under the bus the shockingly high percentage of Americans who questioned the election returns.

Of rumors, prophecies and politics

In the days leading up to the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden*, there will be a lot of rumors, fake news and lies, and it won’t be coming from just the mainstream media and liberals. There are many outrageous stories circulating among conservatives weaving a little bit of truth to make a better lie, sowing false hope and confusion. There are even a number of so-called “Prophets” making claims about the inauguration. There are very many similarities between what we are facing as a nation in this specific instance and the prophecy by Christ in Matthew 24, but understand clearly that Christ was not talking about the United States, rather very specifically about the end of days.
Christ’s first warning to his disciples in verse 4 was, “Take heed that no man deceive you.” He said there would be rumors and pestilences and many coming in his name and deceiving many. He spoke of people being offended, betrayed and hated. And of false prophets deceiving many. He said that because lawlessness shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Sounds a lot like today’s situation, especially with the pestilence of COVID; the false prophets in news and religion; the betrayal of many; the lawlessness we have seen; and the deception. Much of this has conditioned many well-intended people to advocate for precedent-setting tyrannical actions that are in themselves unlawful and unconstitutional.
There are so many conspiracy theories, false narratives, and prophecies circulating among conservatives and the Christian community that people are having a difficult time knowing what to believe and what to do. These are creating a delusional sense of denial for some, and anxiety and fear for many. This is not of the Lord. As in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 1 Corinthians 14:33 says that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. And 1 Peter 5:8 warns, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.”
Among the current authors of these predictions are manipulators and usurpers representing principalities who are testing the appetite for heavy-handed and tyrannical tactics. They are riling up and instigating, mixing lies and truth, based on the very real psychological paradigm that people will believe what they want to believe. Mark these words: There is no savior apart from Christ. Thinking otherwise will lead to great disappointment and perhaps even greater calamity. Remember 1 Kings 19:12, “and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” The Lord is not likely found in all these grand rumors and quaking theories and fiery false prophecies. Listen to His still small voice and you will find Him—it is the voice of truth, peace, courage, love, and clarity.

Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
