“Today, we have reached agreement with Republicans and the White House on an emergency coronavirus relief and omnibus package that delivers urgently needed funds to save the lives and livelihoods of the American people as the virus accelerates.
“We are going to crush the virus and put money in the pockets of the American people. As part of the agreement, Democrats have secured provisions that include:
Accelerating vaccine distribution and crushing the coronavirus: The bipartisan COVID relief package finally recognizes that we cannot get our economy working unless we can get the coronavirus under control. The package provides billions in urgently need funds to accelerate the free and equitable distribution of safe vaccines to as many Americans as possible as soon as possible, to implement a strong national testing and tracing strategy with billions reserved specifically for combating the disparities facing communities of color, and to support our heroic health care workers and providers.
Ends surprise billing: The package includes bipartisan, bicameral legislation that will end surprise billing for emergency and scheduled care.
Strong support for small business: Democrats secured critical funding and policy changes to help small businesses, including minority-owned businesses, and nonprofits recover from the pandemic. The agreement includes over $284 billion for first and second forgivable PPP loans, expanded PPP eligibility for nonprofits and local newspapers, TV and radio broadcasters, key modifications to PPP to serve the smallest businesses and struggling non-profits and better assist independent restaurants, and includes $15 billion in dedicated funding for live venues, independent movie theaters, and cultural institutions. The agreement also includes $20 billion for targeted EIDL Grants which are critical to many smaller businesses on Main Street.
Community Development Financial Institutions and Minority Depository Institutions: The agreement includes dedicated PPP set-asides for very small businesses and lending through community-based lenders like Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs); $9 billion in emergency U.S. Treasury capital investments in CDFIs and MDIs to support lending in low-income and underserved communities, including persistent poverty counties, that may be disproportionately impacted by the economic effects of the COVID–19 pandemic; and $3 billion in emergency support for CDFIs through the CDFI Fund to respond to the economic impact of the pandemic on underserved low-income and minority communities.
Rental assistance: Democrats secured $25 billion in critically needed rental assistance for families struggling to stay in their homes and an extension of the eviction moratorium.
Strengthens the Low Income Housing Tax Credit: The package enhances the LIHTC to help increase affordable housing construction and provide greater certainty to new and ongoing affordable housing projects.
Direct payment checks: Democrats secured a new round of direct payments worth up to $600 per adult and child, also ensuring that mixed-status families receive payments.

1. Netanyahu warns of fast-spreading COVID mutation from UK - Israel National News
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned Sunday evening of a new rapidly spreading mutation of the coronavirus, saying the new variant of the virus necessitated new restrictions on travel from a number of countries where the virus has been detected.
Speaking at a press briefing Sunday evening following the close of a meeting of the Coronavirus Cabinet, Netanyahu explained the decision earlier Sunday to close most travel to Israel from Britain, Denmark and South Africa, following outbreaks of a new strain of the coronavirus.
“Yesterday we heard from officials in the World Health Organization about a new mutation of the coronavirus, and we heard also statements from the Prime Minister of Britain Boris Johnson about the spread of the mutated virus in his country.”

2. Israel, EU countries take drastic measures to contain new virus variant - Israel Hayom
One by one, several European Union nations banned flights from the UK on Sunday and others were considering similar action in a bid to block a new strain of coronavirus sweeping across southern England from establishing a strong foothold on the continent.
The measures were announced just hours after Israeli ministers decided that all passengers arriving from Britain, Denmark and South Africa would be subject to a special form of quarantine in a government-run facility.
This caused chaos at Ben Gurion International Airport after passengers arriving from London were informed only after landing that they would have to be escorted by police to the quarantine hotels in order to ensure the virus did not spread in Israel. Several dozen protested and refused to go, triggering a standoff at the arrival hall, Ultimately, those who did not travel back to the UK agreed to follow the newly mandated isolation requirement and headed to the hotel.

3. Doctors oppose restrictions: 100 doctors against govt' policy: Insanity, no medical justification - Israel National News
More than 100 doctors have signed a petition against the closures and restrictions that the government intends to impose on Israeli citizens.
"We, doctors in Israel, strongly protest against coercive measures to prevent COVID-19 spread, which include lockdown, curfew, shutting down the education system, surveillance, and traffic restrictions," they wrote. "It is our job to warn of the slippery and dangerous slope of violating rights and taking away liberties that the State of Israel is galloping towards.
"The coercive measures taken in the last 9 months in the country are an expression of a loss of values and are in conflict with the ethical foundations of medicine. A heavy cloud looms over their continued use.

4. Iran-linked Hackers Brag ‘We Breached Israel Aerospace Industries’ - Jewish Press
The Iran-linked Pay2Key hacker group boasted Sunday that its operatives managed to breach the database belonging to Israel Aerospace Industries’ subsidiary Elta Systems.
According to a report by CTech Calcalist quoting Israeli cyber experts, Pay2Key is not officially linked to the Iranian regime, but the group is either based in Iran or operated by Farsi-speaking hackers who appear to be motivated by avarice, rather than espionage.
In the past two months, the hacker group has used its ransomware to attack several Israeli companies; most recently they hit the servers of the Intel-owned Habana Labs.
Among the information gleaned in Sunday’s cyber heist was a new database of names from Elta’s servers. “IAI might think they have the most protected network, but this should be backed with proof,” the hackers wrote, alongside the list that was offered as proof, CTech Calcalist reported.

5. Chance of Israeli elections ’50-50′ as Tuesday budget deadline looms - World Israel News
As the deadline to pass a national budget looms, senior officials from the Blue and White party told Israeli media on Saturday there is a “50-50 chance” that elections will soon be called, sending Israelis back to the polls for the fourth time in two years.
The March 2020 coalition agreement between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party and Blue and White, headed by Defense Minister Benny Gantz, stipulates that a budget must be passed by the Knesset by midnight this Tuesday.
If the budget is not passed, the Knesset will automatically be dissolved, triggering another round of general elections.
According to media polls, Likud and Blue and White are predicted to fare poorly in a new round of elections. The Blue and White party is predicted to earn 6-to-7 seats, a steep drop after winning 33 seats in the March 2020 election.

1. China Used 'Mass Surveillance' on Thousands of Americans' Phones, Report Claims - Newsweek
A mobile security expert has accused China of exploiting cellphone networks in the Caribbean to conduct "mass surveillance" on Americans. Gary Miller, a former vice president of network security at California-based analytics company Mobileum, told The Guardian he had amassed evidence of espionage conducted via "decades-old vulnerabilities" in the global telecommunications system. While not explicitly mentioned in the report, the claims appear to be centered around Signaling System 7 (SS7), a communications protocol that routes calls and data around the world and has long been known to have inherent security weaknesses.
According to Miller, his analysis of "signals data" from the Caribbean has shown China was using a state-controlled mobile operator to "target, track, and intercept phone communications of U.S. phone subscribers," The Guardian reported. Miller claimed China appeared to exploit Caribbean operators to conduct surveillance on Americans as they were traveling, alleging that attacks on cell phones between 2018 to 2020 likely affected "tens of thousands" of U.S. mobile users in the region.
"Once you get into the tens of thousands, the attacks qualify as mass surveillance," the mobile researcher said, noting the tactic is "primarily for intelligence collection and not necessarily targeting high-profile targets." Miller continued: "It might be that there are locations of interest, and these occur primarily while people are abroad."

2. Rep. Mo Brooks to Newsmax TV: Senators 'Shaking in the Foxhole' - Newsmax
The House has the members needed to contest the Electoral College certification Jan. 6, but thus far senators have lacked the courage to stand for Americans, according to Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., on Newsmax TV.
"I've been in Congress for a decade; I know how some of these Congress critters and Senate critters try to avoid being courageous when it comes to what they call 'difficult votes,' but in my mind that's what we were elected to do," Brooks told Thursday's "Stinchfield." "I can only control my own vote, how I am going to conduct myself concerning this voter fraud and election theft.
"And I am going to assure the American people, I am going to do everything I can to reverse these Electoral College votes submitted by states that have election systems that are so badly flawed that their reporting of Electoral Colleges votes is rendered untrustworthy."

3. Nuclear weapons agency breached amid massive cyber onslaught - Politico
The Energy Department and National Nuclear Security Administration, which maintains the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile, have evidence that hackers accessed their networks as part of an extensive espionage operation that has affected at least half a dozen federal agencies, officials directly familiar with the matter said. On Thursday, DOE and NNSA officials began coordinating notifications about the breach to their congressional oversight bodies after being briefed by Rocky Campione, the chief information officer at DOE.
They found suspicious activity in networks belonging to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Sandia and Los Alamos national laboratories in New Mexico and Washington, the Office of Secure Transportation at NNSA, and the Richland Field Office of the DOE. The hackers have been able to do more damage at FERC than the other agencies, and officials there have evidence of highly malicious activity, the officials said, but did not elaborate.
Federal investigators have been combing through networks in recent days to determine what hackers had been able to access and/or steal, and officials at DOE still don’t know whether the attackers were able to access anything, the people said, noting that the investigation is ongoing and they may not know the full extent of the damage “for weeks.”

4. Enough is enough. Here’s what we should do to defend against the next Russian cyberattacks - Washington Post
The details are still trickling in, but it seems possible that the latest Russian cyberattacks against the Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury and State; the National Institutes of Health; and possibly dozens of companies and departments will turn out to be one of the most important hacking campaigns in history.
The current reporting suggests that the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), long considered Russia’s most advanced intelligence agency in cyber operations, managed to compromise the servers of an important vendor of information technology software and implant a back door. This company, SolarWinds, services tens of thousands of corporate and government clients, and its products naturally have access to critical systems. Since March, we’ve now learned, the SVR has been able to use this toehold to jump into the networks of a variety of highly sensitive organizations. I expect the true impact of the overall campaign won’t be known for months or years as thousands of companies scramble to determine whether they were breached and what was stolen.
While we don’t have all the details, it is already clear that something is wrong with how our country protects itself against the hackers working for our adversaries in Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. As the administration puts together its plan to secure the United States against these kinds of attacks, and Congress considers how to update the existing bipartisan cybersecurity consensus, I offer three initial fixes.

5. Weekly initial jobless claims rose to 885,000 last week - NBC
Initial weekly jobless claims rose to 885,000 reflecting the escalating economic toll of cities and states struggling to contain surging Covid-19 numbers — and prompting starkly worded calls for Congress to pass another round of fiscal stimulus to help keep millions of Americans financially solvent. The latest number, an increase of 23,000 from the previous week's revised levels, does little to allay economists’ concerns about the combination of renewed business closures and lockdowns, weakening retail spending and the looming cutoff of federal financial support programs for borrowers and unemployed workers.
It was also higher than expected. The average estimate of economists polled by FactSet had anticipated initial claims falling to 790,000 and seeing 5.7 million continuing claims. November’s monthly employment report, released in early December, showed that employers added just 245,000 jobs last month — a sharp slowdown that also took economists by surprise.
Daniel Zhao, senior economist at Glassdoor, said the current trajectory is clear — and alarming. "The recovery is weakening as we head into a rough winter. As the pandemic surges, employers are again furloughing or laying off workers as states impose new restrictions and consumer demand dries up,” he said.

6. US sets single-day record in COVID-19 cases, deaths, hospitalizations - New York Post
The US on Wednesday broke daily records for new coronavrus cases, deaths and hospitalizations, according to reports. More than 247,000 new cases of the global pandemic were reported in the country, with a record high of more than 3,600 Americans dying from the deadly virus, CNN reported.
There are now in excess of 113,000 people hospitalized with the virus in the country. The number brings the US total of coronavirus cases to 17 million with more than 307,000 deaths since the outbreak of the virus, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The US has recorded the most COVID-19 deaths in the world, though it is currently 10th per capita, according to Statista.

7. Winter storm dropped more snow in parts of the Northeast than all of last year's winter season - CNN
A powerful winter storm system delivered heavy snow across the Northeast, blanketing much of Pennsylvania, New York and New England and creating slick road conditions across the region Thursday.
Those living in and around New York City, Philadelphia and Boston woke to generally between 6 to 12 inches of snow, and snow continued to fall through the morning.
New York's Central Park saw 10.5 inches as of Thursday afternoon, more than what fell during last year's entire paltry winter season, the National Weather Service noted.
Parts of central Pennsylvania and upstate New York received the brunt of the snowfall, according to the NWS. Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, got a whopping 18.8 inches of snow, while Albany, New York, was hit with over 22 inches. The NWS office in Binghamton, New York, tallied nearly 40 inches of snow, their largest total since records began in 1951.

8. Senate Republicans confirm Trump nominee to replace Amy Coney Barrett vacancy on appeals court – Washington Examiner
Senate Republicans gave President Trump another victory in the form of judicial appointments. On Tuesday, the Senate confirmed Thomas Kirsch II, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, by a vote of 51-44 to replace a vacancy left by Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett on the Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. The White House announced that Kirsch, an Indiana University and Harvard Law graduate, was Trump's pick for the vacancy months ago but sent notice about his nomination last month.
"Mr. Kirsch led numerous complex high-profile white collar investigations and has prosecuted offenses in numerous areas, including mail and wire fraud, honest services fraud, tax fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, conspiracy, extortion, money laundering, racketeering, obstruction of justice, perjury, and gangs and narcotics," according to his biography on the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Indiana website. "Mr. Kirsch has received numerous local and national awards, including the Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance and awards from The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal, Law360, and Benchmark Litigation. Mr. Kirsch is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers," the biography says.
"Thomas Kirsch is a lifelong Hoosier, who has worked to take on public corruption in Indiana, and has led a diverse and exemplary career. I am proud the U.S. Senate has confirmed Mr. Kirsch for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit," Sen. Mike Braun said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

9. Democratic steering committee bucks AOC, picks other NY lawmaker for coveted spot - Fox News
The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee on Thursday voted to seat Rep. Kathleen Rice on a coveted committee over her New York colleague Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the latest example of House Democrats bucking the firebrand who represents the Bronx and Queens.
With five open slots on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., nominated four people and left the fifth spot open for members to choose between the two New Yorkers in a vote, Politico first reported. Fox News confirmed that Rice decisively won the vote 46-13.
Ocasio-Cortez expressed disappointment Friday about the loss: "It's tough, always," she told pool reporters at the Capitol. "You always kind of shoot high and you don't always get what you want and that's, you know, I think totally understandable."
The Energy and Commerce Committee handles some of the most critical legislation in the House, from the environment to health care to nuclear facilities. Its site says that it "has the broadest jurisdiction of any authorizing committee in Congress."

10. Mike Pence Highlights the Trump Administration's Pro-Life Accomplishments at 'Life Is Winning' Event - Christian Headlines
On Wednesday afternoon, Vice President Mike Pence hosted the "Life Is Winning” event where he reflected on President Trump’s pro-life accomplishments during his first term. Pence recounted how President Trump, prior to his inauguration in 2017, desired to make the sanctity of human life a priority in his administration. “President Trump said early in our administration, and I quote, ‘Every person is worth protecting. Every human life, born and unborn, is made in the holy image of Almighty God,’” Pence said.
“In this administration, it’s always been about life,” he added.
Pence went on to say that Trump sought to protect the unborn by vetoing “any legislation that weakens current pro-life federal policies or encourages the destruction of innocent human life at any stage. And President Donald Trump has kept his word every single day,” he added.

The 2020 election cycle is a culmination of events that began with false accusations against a president about Russian collusion and ended with a yet-to-be determined result due to election integrity allegations that remain unreported by the mainstream media. All the while, the Democratic Party leadership were colluding with not only the Russians, but also the Chinese. Unfortunately, the news media also refused to implicate losing presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman John Podesta with millions in Russian pay to play schemes, or Joe Biden as the crime boss behind his son’s nefarious dealings with Russia and China involving millions of dollars. This is our sad truth.
Congressional democrats spent millions of tax dollars and ignored real national challenges impeaching President Trump on totally false claims that he conspired with the Russians to influence 2016 presidential election. However, the Clinton’s ties with Russia were far more damaging to the country. The short list includes: unsecured emails containing national secrets that fell in Russian hands; uranium sales to Russia resulting in $145 million contributed to the Clinton Foundation; Bill Clinton’s $500,000 speech in Moscow; Clinton campaign manager John Podesta’s $35 million haul from an energy deal with Russia; and the FBI report that Clinton and Russian officials were involved in a bribery kickback scheme.
Leading up to the 2020 election, the news media and deep state were caught red-handed suppressing information that democrat Joe Biden was totally compromised by communist China and Russia through his dealings to enrich his family with son Hunter as a conduit. The facts surrounding this corruption come from at least four sources: 1) Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Senate Committee on Finance investigation; 2) Hunter Biden’s laptop; 3) Hunter Biden’s former business partner Bevan Cooney, who is serving time for the very business dealings Hunter and he did; and 4) Former business partner Tony Bobulinski’s emails and eyewitness accounts. And more is revealed each day.
Those who accused Trump of being a compromised candidate for Russian influence actually received tens of millions of dollars from Russia and China. It’s not allegations. It’s proven fact. Those who accused Trump of tampering with the 2016 election are themselves buried under an avalanche of evidence that they systematically compromised the election. And the mainstream news media, the “guardian” of truth refuses to cover any of this. The accusers have done exactly what they accused others of doing. Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” It’s a sad state of affairs we are experiencing. May the Lord in all his goodness and wisdom and power, expose them and bring them to justice!

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."
