THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE
Today's Verse
ECCLESIASTES 3:1
It is written:
"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every matter under heaven."
Today's Commentary
On Dec. 14, electoral votes for the president of the United States will officially be cast in all 50 states. In normal years, the Electoral College is often considered a formality in the election process for the office of president. According to experts, it is the Electoral College that actually decides who will secure the office, not the voters in the United States.
Even though the aggregate national popular vote is calculated by state officials, media organizations, and the Federal Election Commission, the people only indirectly elect the president. The president and vice president of the United States are elected by the Electoral College, which consists of 538 electors from the fifty states and Washington, D.C.
Electors are selected state-by-state, as determined by the laws of each state.
A candidate must receive an absolute majority of electoral votes (currently 270) to win the presidency or the vice presidency. If no candidate receives a majority in the election for president or vice president, the election is determined via a contingency procedure established by the Twelfth Amendment. In such a situation, the House chooses one of the top three presidential electoral vote winners as the president, while the Senate chooses one of the top two vice presidential electoral vote winners as vice president.
The Twelfth Amendment mandates Congress assemble in joint session to count the electoral votes and declare the winners of the election. The session is ordinarily required to take place on January 6 in the calendar year immediately following the meetings of the presidential electors.
After the certificates from all states are read and the respective votes are counted, the presiding officer simply announces the final state of the vote. This announcement concludes the joint session and formalizes the recognition of the president-elect and of the vice president-elect. The senators then depart from the House chamber. The final tally is printed in the Senate and House journals. (Source: Wikipedia)

Today's Prayer
Father God, today we thank You for the U.S. Constitution, which has so clearly laid out the process we are to pursue, every four years, to name the next President of the United States.
Father God, even though these Electors will have the final vote in hand on December 14, we thank You that the will of "we the people" is acknowledged in the selection of the Electors in each state.
We thank You, too, that You are not a God of confusion, but of order.
We submit the coming weeks to You, dear God, as we near the end of Election 2020. May this be an election that reflects Your Glory, as each step of law and order in the electoral process is fulfilled. We continue to stand against all forms of bribery, trickery, collusion, and deceit in this year's election. Let our yea be yea, and our nay be nay, in Your Name, amen!

- "Let all things be done decently and in order." (1 Corinthians 14:40)
BREAKING NEWS!
'Safe Harbor' Deadline for Electors 'Not Constitutional', 'Does Not Apply to Disputed States'
The Amistad Project, an election fraud watchdog, released a whitepaper outlining how the December 8th Electoral College deadline for the selection of electors does not apply to states with disputed election results.
Among the states with disputed election results are Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada: a total 70 of Electoral College votes.
The Amistad Project notes that the only “deadline specifically required by the Constitution is noon on January 20,” when a President’s term would end.
All other deadlines, such as the “safe harbor” deadline of December 8th, the Electoral College vote occurring on December 14th, and the congressional count on January 6th are set by federal law. Therefore, if “federal law presents an obstacle to faithfully adhering to constitutional requirements, it is necessary to disregard the statute in favor of the plain meaning of the Constitution.”
In other words, the only deadline the Constitution requires is for the election to be decided on or by January 20th.
“Moreover, these dates are arbitrary, being based on obsolete and outdated concerns,” the group adds. (Read more)
