Report from yesterday on Capitol Hill... We had some very powerful prayer encounters with people who were praying to see righteousness, Justice, and Truth prevail in the election. Yesterday was very cold and windy here. I literally shivered with the cold for 7 hours. We we're positioned opposite the Mall where the Marchers were coming from the White House. Where there were a lot of people, it wasn't anything like the number of thousands that were on the other side. We had a position at the southeast corner of the Capitol lawn that was dedicated to prayer and worship. Various prayer and worship leaders led us. When things started getting out of hand and people began to rush the police line to get up the steps towards the doors of the building, we began to pray into that...That the shalom of God (which destroys the authority that would try and bring chaos) would be released into the situation... We sang and prayed as the event was unfolding. At one point we turned our speaker towards the crowd and prayed The Lord's prayer and Psalm 91 and invited others to join us. All day we were blessing the police and speaking God's protection over them. From our perspective there was absolutely no violence. it was like the people just wanted to make a statement and be heard. They did not accept what was being said and done in the Capitol. Senator Schumer's speech seemed to set them off. No one entered the Capitol on our side. Though things were very emotional and unruly, we never felt in any danger. But we heard the reports of the terrible things that were happening on the other side. We believe that the prayer which had begun at 8:00 a.m. on the east side quelled the violence there. It was a long exhausting day but we got home safely. We continue to pray for God's kingdom to come and his will to be done on behalf of our nation. As I said we witnessed no violence from either the police or the crowd. The crowd occasionally burst into patriotic song and chants that you hear at the Trump rallies... Apparently a completely different scene from what was happening on the west side.
