The Old Wooden Cross Still Stands Amid Helene’s Devastation
|
|
The damages from Hurricane Helene have left many families and communities broken. Many people are still searching for loved ones and have no place to call home. But there are stories of hope and heroism emerging that not only reflect the resiliency of the survivors but reveal God’s faithfulness and that He is “here for His people.” One encouraging story is about a well-known landmark in Greenville, South Carolina. The Category 4 storm severely damaged the beloved Pretty Place Chapel. But one thing is still standing – the cross. Pretty Place Chapel attracts visitors every year because of its serene location and its majestic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. However, video of the chapel shows trees toppled along the property, and large sections of the roof and support beams are destroyed.
Officials with Pretty Place Chapel say they were stunned when they arrived on the grounds after the storm. “We were awe-struck to find that, despite the horrible damage done to the chapel, the wooden cross still stands as a symbol of hope,” they shared on Facebook. Nicholas Patton, director of operations at Pretty Place Chapel said they are committed to repairing the damage, but it is going to take a lot of time to rebuild. “Unfortunately, we have seen a lot of damage down here today,” Patton said in a video. “… We will be working for the next long while, unforeseen future, to restore Pretty Place to its natural beauty.” People have responded to Patton’s video saying seeing the cross has encouraged their faith. One Facebook user commented, “What is AMAZING is the fact that the cross and the benches were not damaged! Just another confirmation that God will always be here for His people!” (Charisma news) Read more here.
- Father, we praise You for the HOPE that has been experienced by citizens living in hurricane devastated areas of Florida and the Carolinas. What a beautiful image of a wooden cross standing upright, in the midst of destruction, at Pretty Place Chapel in South Carolina. May there be miraculous stories of experiencing Christ's love through needs being met and supplies being delivered to survivors. Bring genuine peace, glorious comfort and abundant provision for all to come to know Jehovah Jireh, who always is faithful to provide every need for His children. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ-Amen and Amen.
- "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)

Unearthed report reveals powerful Harris ally 'willing to share' resources from Black businesses with CCP
|
|
VP Harris praised Ron Busby as an 'extraordinary leader' who exhibits 'courageous leadership'
|
|
A powerful ally of Vice President Kamala Harris, who she has praised as an "extraordinary leader" who exhibits "courageous leadership," met with multiple CCP officials during a business trip to China, where he vowed to "[spread] the voice of Black businesses," Fox News Digital has learned.
Ron Busby, who has visited the Biden-Harris White House dozens of times and is the longtime president of the U.S. Black Chambers, met with several CCP officials during a previously unreported trip to China, a Fox News Digital review found.
Busby traveled to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an for a 10-day trip as part of a delegation of New York government officials and business leaders, including then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s chief diversity officer Rose Rodriguez, who were dubbed the "New Majority Alliance."
The delegation's trip in September 2017 was supported by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York, a Chinese government entity in New York that serves as a mouthpiece for the CCP and was recently implicated in an unsealed indictment against a top former aide to New York's Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul. The New York in China Center, which has offices in New York and Shanghai, was the official sponsor of the trip. (Fox News) Read more.

- Lord God, we have no idea how China was able to gain so much control over our government and to highly sensitive information from American citizens. But right now we repent that our current administration is failing to do what they can to protect America and its citizens from China’s tyranny. We pray right now that your spirit of truth would move on this administration to make this issue one of their top priorities, in Jesus' name, amen.
- “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth;” (John 16:13)

More Than 5 Million Have Voted So Far Across the US: Here’s the Breakdown
|
|
More than 5 million Americans have cast early ballots as of Tuesday, with just three weeks to go before the 2024 presidential election.
A tracking tool run by the University of Florida’s Election Lab shows that 5.3 million have voted in states that are reporting early election data.
The vast majority—4.4 million—have returned mail-in ballots, and more than 941,000 have voted in-person, according to the tracker, which says 34 states allow early voting.
Breakdown by Party, Age, Race
So far, of nearly 2.4 million voters in states that report party affiliation, around 1.3 million are Democrats, about 741,000 are Republican, and approximately 446,000 are unaffiliated or belong to a third party.
Story continues below advertisement
In the states that report gender, nearly 55 percent who have cast ballots early are women, while 44 percent are men. Another 1 percent are classified as “unknown,” the election tracker says.
The majority who have cast early ballots are over the age of 65, at about 59 percent, while around 28 percent are aged 41 to 65, according to the tracking tool. Nine percent are aged 26 to 40, and only 3.4 percent are aged 18 to 25.
The vast majority, or 72 percent, who have voted early are non-Hispanic white. About 11.6 percent are black, 1.9 percent are Hispanic, 2 percent are Asian, and 11.7 percent are other, multiple, or unknown.
Early Voting Starts in Battleground State
Starting Tuesday morning, voters in the swing state of Georgia could officially go to early polling locations. The early voting period will last until Nov. 1, the Friday before Election Day on Nov. 5. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Abba, thank you that so many people have already voted, we ask Holy Spirit to hover over every vote counted to ensure total honesty this election cycle. Father God, we ask You to dispatch as many angels as necessary to watch over every ballot, ensuring that each is handled and counted with integrity. We ask that any person or group working outside of Your intentions would be exposed immediately and legal action taken to short circuit the enemy's plans to impact the outcome of our elections. Jesus, Your word says that You set up kings and bring them down, so we ask You to watch over Your word to perform it. We ask this in the name, Eloah, God, Mighty, Strong and Prominent, the God who walks in integrity.
- "The word of the Lord came to me: "What do you
see, Jeremiah?" "I see the branch of an
almond tree," I replied.
The Lord said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I
am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."

Russia, China Enlist Cyber Gangs to Target US and Allies: Microsoft
|
|
Microsoft is urging the United States and its allies to collaborate in deterring state-backed cybercriminals, warning that adversaries such as Russia, China, and Iran are increasingly relying on hackers, who face no “meaningful consequences” for their violations.
Microsoft’s annual digital threats report, published on Oct. 15, looks into cybercriminal activities that occurred between July 2023 and June 2024. The company says its customers face more than 600 million such incidents every day.
Analyzing those attacks, Microsoft said it is seeing “increasingly blurred lines” between actions directed by Moscow or Beijing and those of cybercrime gangs. While these criminal groups usually focus on financial gains, they’re now more involved in advancing the goals of nation-states, aiding in espionage and destabilization efforts aimed at geopolitical rivals.
|
|
Russia, for instance, appears to have “outsourced” some of its cyber espionage tasks as its war against Ukraine drags through a third year. In June, a suspected cybercriminal group hacked into at least 50 Ukrainian military devices with no apparent financial incentive. Microsoft said this suggests the hackers were likely operating on behalf of the Russian military.
The report also highlighted North Korea’s use of ransomware, specifically a new variant called “FakePenny,” which was deployed against aerospace and defense organizations after exfiltrating sensitive data. Microsoft indicated that this suggests a dual purpose: gathering intelligence for Pyongyang while also making money.
Iran’s cyber operations have been particularly active against Israel. According to Microsoft, hackers linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps breached Israeli dating websites and offered to remove users’ personal information from the compromised databases for a fee.
Meanwhile, China’s communist regime has intensified its efforts to sow discord ahead of elections in Taiwan and the United States. Microsoft noted that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was “emboldened” by its influence campaign during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Abba, we need Your help in protecting all US citizens from fake information put out by cyber gangs which could influence our 2024 elections. Father God, with all the new technology it is very difficult to discern between what is truth and what is fake information about those running for office, including President Trump and Vice President Harris. We ask Holy Spirit to intervene in these circumstances, shut down the communications satellites they are connected to, bring down the internet connections being used to disseminate these lies, allow their software to crash for no apparent reason, be our guardian, our protector. We ask You to work within every location responsible for votes, we pray for Your perfect will to be done in this election. We ask this in the name Jehovah Rohi, The Lord Our Shepherd.
- "My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip --
he who watches over you will not slumber."

2. Israel vows to improve conditions in Gaza after US ultimatum - Israel National News
Israeli officials have been reassuring US counterparts that Israel will take swift action to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, following an ultimatum from the Biden administration, two Israeli officials told Axios on Wednesday.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin sent a letter to Israeli leaders, warning that US weapon shipments to Israel could be affected if Israel fails to make improvements in Gaza within 30 days.

Senior US officials emphasized that the letter was not a prelude to withholding weapons but rather an effort to encourage a shift in Israel's approach. (Read more)

3. Likud to hold event in support of resettling Gaza - Jerusalem Post
One minister and nine MKs in Israel's governing party, the Likud, will hold an event on Monday near the border with Gaza in support of resettling the territory, according to a flyer of the event published online.
The event includes a tour of Kibbutz Nirim led by its civilian security coordinator. The Kibbutz said in a statement that neither it nor the security coordinator had received notice of the tour, and therefore, "it will not happen."
The kibbutz added, "We are still waiting for the government and members of the coalition to take responsibility for the enormous failure and abandonment of the events of October 7 and for the bleeding wound in our hearts. Instead of holding political conferences to form settlement cells, it would be better for the government and its members to deal with bringing back 101 hostages and supporting and building the [Gaza] perimeter area towns and resurrecting them." 4. Ambassador Danon: The problem is that Hamas steals aid for Gazans - Israel National News
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, spoke to the media on Wednesday, before a session of the UN Security Council session, where he reiterated that the amount of humanitarian aid entering Gaza is not the issue, but rather the fact that Hamas steals aid which is destined for Gazans.
“We’re hearing a lot of accusations about humanitarian efforts in Gaza, so I want to make it clear: The problem in Gaza is not lack of aid. The problem is Hamas, which hijacks the aid, steals it, stores it and sells it in order to feed its terror machine while civilians suffer,” said Danon.
His comments follow a letter which was sent on Monday by US Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin to Israeli leaders, warning that US weapon shipments to Israel could be affected if Israel fails to make improvements in Gaza within 30 days.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron, rebuffing the latter’s demand that Israel agree to a unilateral ceasefire in Lebanon.

1. Feds Admit: Child Sex Trafficking Reports Triple under Harris and Biden - Breitbart
Youth sex trafficking and its myriad cruelties tripled under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a report in TheFreePress.com. TheFreePress.com described some of the harms inflicted on youth migrants under the lax policies set by Biden’s border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas’ tenure:
Sex-trafficking victims often suffer horrific abuse, as I discovered when I spoke to Landon Dickeson, the 36-year-old executive director for Bob’s House of Hope in Denton, Texas, the only shelter for male sex-trafficking victims ages 18 and up in the country. Dickeson says they’ve seen teens from Central and South America who have been so tortured by their traffickers they can barely function.
The rising number of youth sex-trafficking cases were posted at the Department of Health and Human Services when TheFreePress demanded the data under the Freedom of Information Act. The agency is responsible for checking and issuing Certification and Eligibility Letters to the children and youths who first request aid after escaping sex traffickers. The number of child cases under Biden and Mayorkas is three times their adult caseload, according to the agency data. (Read more)

2. More than 100M people of faith could sit out 2024 election: study - The Christian Post
As many as 104 million people of faith, including 32 million self-identified Christians who regularly attend church, are unlikely to vote in the upcoming 2024 presidential election on Nov. 5 mainly due to lack of interest, research from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University shows.
The findings of the study released Monday by longtime Evangelical pollster George Barna and his team of researchers are based on data collected in two related surveys of a national sample of 2,000 U.S. adults during August and September 2024. One of the surveys focused on adults who self-identified as Christians and attend church at least once per month.
At least half of all respondents also felt like their one vote wouldn't make a difference and have grown weary of the controversial nature of the voting process now. Researchers believe that if the findings "hold true" up to election day, former President Donald Trump's reelection is less likely and Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign is more likely to come away victorious. Help us urge our fellow believers to vote for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.

3. Tim Walz: ‘The Electoral College Needs to Go’ - The Washington Stand
The Democratic Party’s vice presidential contender is calling for the Electoral College to be abolished. At a fundraiser with California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) on Tuesday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), who Vice President Kamala Harris has named as her running mate, said, “I think all of us know, the Electoral College needs to go.”
Walz continued to say that the Electoral College should be replaced by “a national popular vote” because too much emphasis is being placed on a handful of battleground states. “So we need to win Beaver County, Pennsylvania. We need to be able to go into York, Pennsylvania, and win. We need to be in western Wisconsin and win. We need to be in Reno, Nevada, and win,” he said.
This is not the first time that Walz has teased the destruction of the Electoral College. At a previous fundraiser in Seattle, he dismissed the importance of the Electoral College, instead calling himself “a national popular vote guy, but that’s not the world we live in.” As governor, Walz also signed the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a legislative effort to award a state’s electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the popular vote nationally. For My salvation is about to come

4. Tren de Aragua comes for US kids: Gang member accused of trying to recruit middle school students in Texas - New York Post
A Tren de Aragua gang member has been busted after allegedly trying to recruit middle school students, according to cops — and experts warn that it’s a sign the brutal Venezuelan gang has already infiltrated American schools.
Jorgenys Robertson Cova, 32, who has multiple arrests for theft since crossing the border illegally two years ago, is suspected of trying to make contact with students at Jane Long Academy and Las Americas in Houston, federal law enforcement sources told The Post.
Cova, a Venezuelan migrant and confirmed member of Tren de Aragua, wanted to train the kids for a large-scale shoplifting ring across the city, authorities said.
He targeted the young teens because they face few consequences when they’re caught, the sources said. Former US Marshal Robert Almonte told The Post that it’s very likely that Tren de Aragua members have enrolled in American schools. (Read more)

5. Pentagon, State Department ‘concerned’ about North Korea reportedly fighting for Russia in Ukraine - Just The News
U.S. officials expressed concern on Tuesday about North Korean soldiers reportedly fighting for Russia in Ukraine but stopped short of confirming the reports are correct. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this week that North Korea is transferring soldiers to the Russian military.
The U.S. government has said that North Korea supplied ammunition and ballistic missiles to Russia but both countries have denied that happened. “We are concerned by reports of DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] soldiers fighting on behalf of Russia, which if true would mark a significant increase in the DPRK-Russia defense relationship," said Lt. Col. Charlie Dietz, a spokesperson for the Department of Defense. "Such a move would also indicate a new level of desperation for Russia as it continues to suffer significant casualties on the battlefield in its brutal war against Ukraine."
State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said the agency is “concerned” by the reports. (Read more)

6. Fani Willis asks appeals court to reinstate three election charges against Trump - Just the News
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis late Tuesday asked the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate three election subversion charges against former President Donald Trump, and three against his allies.
Judge Scott McAfee dismissed six chargesagainst Trump and his allies over their alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in March. McAfee determined at the time that there was not enough evidence of an underlying crime that that the group was soliciting from a public officer.
"As written, these six counts contain all the essential elements of the crimes but fail to allege sufficient detail regarding the nature of their commission, i.e., the underlying felony solicited," McAfee wrote in his decision at the time. (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: Ignoring The Warnings
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, October 16, 2024
In recent weeks, there have been a lot of conspiracy theories abounding across social media and among friends. We have heard that because there are lithium deposits, the government created the Helene hurricane damage so it can seize the land for a proposed mining operation. Also, there is a theory that the Biden-Harris Administration caused the hurricane to go through key Republican areas of middle America so as to influence the election. The fact is, people will believe what they want to believe and it is more difficult to convince someone of the truth than a lie that they want to believe is true. But hear this: God is in control of the weather and is it not feasible that these disasters are clear warnings?
While it’s not proven that government can create hurricanes and direct their paths with secret weather machines and cloud seeding, it is proven that political parties will go to great lengths to keep or attain power. Put aside for a moment the theory of government weather control and look at the aftermath. The presidential election is less than a month away. Areas hit the hardest hold a lot of Republican votes. What is in control of the party in power is the response to recovery. In many cases, people have given up having the government assist in recovery. They are doing it themselves. Will they be able to vote? Not if the infrastructure is so impaired that people cannot get to the polls. The Biden-Harris Federal Emergency Management Administration—FEMA–has a lot of power in determining the pace of recovery. Read More

Georgia judge blocks rule requiring clerks to hand count number of ballots
|
|
|
Georgia judge ruled to halt a planned hand count of ballots on election night
|
|
A Georgia judge stopped a planned hand count of ballots on election night, ruling Tuesday that it would create "administrative chaos" if poll workers were required to handle millions of ballots without being trained.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney found that the controversial rule was "too much, too late" to implement for the 2024 election – which is less than three weeks away.
"The public interest is not disserved by pressing pause here," he wrote in his decision. "This election season is fraught; memories of Jan. 6 have not faded away, regardless of one’s view of that date’s fame or infamy. Anything that adds uncertainty and disorder to the electoral process disserves the public."
McBurney said in his ruling that his decision was not final and would be further detailed at a later date, but not until after the election.
"Our Boards of Election and Superintendents are statutorily obligated to ensure that elections are ’honestly, efficiently, and uniformly conducted,’" he said. "Failure to comply with statutory obligations such as these can result in investigation by the SEB, suspension or even criminal prosecution."
The rule, passed by the Republican State Election Board, was set to go into effect Oct. 22, just two weeks before the election, and after early voting in the Peach State is well underway. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Abba, it is hard to discern the correctness of this ruling when either way of dealing with this can involve mistakes being made. We thank You that we can trust You to protect all ballots involved in this election. Father God, dispatch Your angel armies to watch over and protect each vote at each voting location in Georgia, including those already completed. We ask You to block every move of the enemy to try and impace the outcomes of every race, not only in Georgia but all over the US. We, again, ask You to watch over our elections to bring Your intended plan to fruition for our nation going forward. We thank You that You are God and we are not. We ask this in the name Jehovah Jireh, The Lord Will Provide.

Early voting begins in Iowa, Kansas, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island
|
|
|
49 states, Washington, DC, have started early voting
|
|
Five states join the rest of the country on Wednesday as they start the early voting process for the 2024 election.
Iowa, Kansas, Nevada, Oregon and Rhode Island make a total of 49 states and Washington, D.C., that have begun early voting.
Here's how to cast a ballot in each state.
Key downballot races in today’s early voting states
Voting also begins today in four battleground House districts. For a full list of competitive races, see the latest Senate and House rankings.
- Iowa’s 1st District: Second-term GOP Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks won this seat by six votes in 2020, and while redistricting gave her a more comfortable win in the midterms, she remains vulnerable in the Davenport and Iowa City district. Former state Rep. Christina Bohannan is the Democrat candidate. It’s a Toss Up in the Power Rankings.
- Iowa’s 3rd District: The southern 3rd District is represented by Republican Rep. Zach Nunn, who flipped the seat during the midterms. It was another close race, with 2,145 votes separating him and his Democrat opponent. This year, he’s up against Democrat Lanon Baccam, who recently worked at the USDA. This is a Lean R race.
- Nevada’s 3rd District: This district almost touches Las Vegas, but it stretches a long way west of that out to Henderson, Boulder City and rural Clark County. Democrat Rep. Susie Lee has served in the district since 2019; this year, she faces Republican Drew Johnson. This race is ranked Lean D.
- Oregon’s 5th District: Finally, Oregon’s 5th District ranges from parts of Portland out to the Cascades. GOP Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer flipped this race in the midterms after Democrats booted out their incumbent moderate Democrat in a primary, but it’s a razor-thin race in 2024. The Democrat challenger this time around is state Rep. Janelle Bynum. It’s another Power Rankings Toss Up. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Abba, You know how important this election is for our nation. Each of these races could have a profound impact on the final results of how the US will move forward. These elections will decide whether the Socialist type of government continues to change how our country is run, or if we will remain a Republic. Jesus, You created the US to be, "a light on the hill", "Your voice to the nations", so we humbly fall on our knees before You and pray that this election will be a visible expression of Your will and intentions for our country. We ask for You to be the deciding vote in each and every race, let Your favor shine on each person that You have determined to be the best choice for the job. We are Your people and the sheep of Your pasture, we need You to be our Shepherd, the one who guides and directs, who protects and provides. We need You to be the person to whom we entrust yourselves, our families, our jobs, all that is precious to us, and that includes our country. We ask this in the name Jehovah Shalom, The Lord Our Peace.
- "When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a
ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order."

Supreme Court Vacates Ruling on Pennsylvania Law Allowing 18- to 20-Year-Olds to Carry Guns
|
|
|
The high court also told a federal appeals court to reconsider the case.
|
|
The U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 15 vacated a lower court’s ruling that allowed adults in Pennsylvania younger than the age of 21 to carry firearms in public during states of emergency, telling a federal appeals court to reconsider the case.
The Supreme Court did not explain its ruling, and there were no dissents.
The two-sentence decision by the high court indicated that the justices would not take up the appeal by Pennsylvania state officials who sought to overturn the lower court’s ruling. Instead, the justices ordered the case to be remanded back to the lower courts, and it vacated the appeals court decision that had blocked the state law.
Under the Uniform Firearms Act, Pennsylvania bars individuals ages 18 to 20 from openly carrying guns in public during a declared state of emergency. A lawsuit was filed against the state over the law, with lawyers for the petitioners saying the state law did not adhere to U.S. traditions and norms under the Supreme Court’s decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Mighty God, You are the Author and Finisher of all things. We honor the decision of the Supreme Court to vacate this decision and send it back to a federal court for further action. We ask that You continue to pour out Your wisdom upon our Supreme Court justices to continue to rule in righteousness during these challenging times. We pray for You to bring forward decisions that are pleasing to You and provide stability for our states and nation, in Jesus' name.
- "But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble." (Psalm 59:16)
