Manchin Decision Hurts Dems' Senate Hopes,
Sparks Speculation About WH Run
|

Joe Manchin's decision not to seek reelection virtually ensures that the Democratic Party will lose his Senate seat next year in deep-red West Virginia, making the party's steep path to retaining its razor-thin Senate majority even more difficult.
Some Democratic officials are also concerned that Manchin's announcement frees him to pursue a third-party presidential bid that could ultimately undermine President Joe Biden's reelection. The 76-year-old Manchin has raised the possibility of a presidential bid in the past, and he made direct reference to national ambitions in the retirement video he posted on social media Thursday.
“What I will be doing is traveling the country and speaking out to see if there is an interest in creating a movement to mobilize the middle and bring Americans together,” Manchin said.
Manchin's sudden announcement injects a new layer of uncertainty for Democratic leaders already anxious about the party's prospects in 2024. Biden is seeking a second term despite persistent concerns about his age and economic leadership from voters in both major parties. At the same time, Democrats are clinging to a 51-49 Senate majority having narrowly lost their House majority last fall.
Just an hour after Manchin's announcement, a Boston-based group filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to form a draft committee designed to encourage Manchin and Utah Sen. Mitt Romney to launch a third-party presidential bid. A person with direct knowledge of the group's activities said the committee, which is calling itself “America Back on Track," would launch publicly next week with an initial budget of $1 million. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal planning.
The new draft effort was specifically created, the person said, to enable Manchin and Romney to seek the presidential nomination at No Labels' national convention next March in Texas. Romney also declined to run for reelection to the Senate next year. (Newsmax) Read more here.

China has a sweeping vision to reshape the world — and countries are listening
|
|
Xi Jinping has a plan for how the world should work, and one year into his norm-shattering third term as Chinese leader, he’s escalating his push to challenge America’s global leadership — and put his vision front and center.
That bid was in the spotlight like never before last month in Beijing, when Xi, flanked by Russian President Vladimir Putin, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and some two dozen top dignitaries from around the world, hailed China as the only country capable of navigating the challenges of the 21st century.
“Changes of the world, of our times, and of historical significance are unfolding like never before,” Xi told his audience at the Belt and Road Forum. China, he said, would “make relentless efforts to achieve modernization for all countries” and work to build a “shared future for mankind.”
Xi’s vision — though cloaked in abstract language — encapsulates the Chinese Communist Party’s emerging push to reshape an international system it sees as unfairly stacked in favor of the United States and its allies.
Viewed as a rival by those countries as its grows increasingly assertive and authoritarian, Beijing has come to believe that now is the time to shift that system and the global balance of power to ensure China’s rise — and reject efforts to counter it. (CNN) Read more here.

Taxpayers Paying Millions for Child
Medical Mutilation

As the “gender surgery industry” in the United States is expected to grow to $5 billion by 2030, many states are giving the industry tens of millions in taxpayer dollars to reimburse hospitals for harmful puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and mutilating surgeries administered on children. Researchers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles reviewed the Medicaid policies for all 50 states and found that at least 25 states were using taxpayer money to cover gender surgeries in February 2021. As of November 2023, at least 26 states allow their Medicaid insurance programs for low-income families to cover medically mutilating procedures on minors.
For instance, in Pennsylvania, a new report shows that more than $20 million from the state’s Medicaid program has been used to reimburse children’s hospitals for these often-irreversible procedures since 2015. Through a Right-To-Know request to the state, the Pennsylvania Family Institute discovered public funding for these procedures increased from about $60,000 in 2015 to more than $5 million in 2022. The data indicates the state is increasing its funding for “gender transition” procedures every year and is paying “nearly $14,000 per day” to mutilate children. Currently, three Pennsylvania hospitals are offering these procedures, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
In Massachusetts, taxpayers have paid $7.6 million for child gender surgeries since 2012, including $1.4 million to the nation’s first pediatric “transgender health program” at Boston Children’s Hospital. A public records request confirmed the state’s public insurance program reimbursed the hospital which, according to the National Institutes of Health, performed 204 mutilating surgeries on minors as young as 15 years old between 2017 and 2020.
Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said, “Taxpayers should not be paying to irreversibly mutilate children. Allowing taxpayer-funded insurance programs to reimburse hospitals for harming children is a violation of the public good. Every state should end these reimbursements. But outcome of summit also highlights regional divisions over response to war, with some nations vetoing a far harsher stance including a call to sever all Israel ties

Meeting Saturday in the Saudi capital, Arab leaders and Iran’s president roundly condemned Israel’s actions in its war against the Hamas terror group in Gaza, accusing it of crimes and terrorism against the Palestinian people.
But the outcome of the summit also highlighted regional divisions over how to respond to the war, even as fears mount that it could draw in other countries.
The final declaration on Saturday rejected Israeli assertions that it is acting in self-defense and demanded that the United Nations Security Council adopt “a decisive and binding resolution” to halt Israel’s “aggression.” It also called for an end to weapons sales to Israel and dismissed out of hand any future political resolution to the conflict that would keep Gaza separate from the West Bank.
At the same time, several nations rejected a push to respond to the war by threatening to disrupt oil supplies to Israel and its allies as well as severing the economic and diplomatic ties that some Arab League nations have with Israel.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, the more hardline draft resolution would have called to prevent the transfer of US equipment to Israel from bases in Arab countries; called to freeze all diplomatic and economic ties with Israel; threatened to use oil as leverage to put pressure on Israel a la the 1972 oil embargo; prevented flights to and from Israel using Arab countries’ air space; and formed a joint mission to put pressure on Western nations for a ceasefire. 1. Hezbollah anti-tank missiles from Lebanon wound six Israelis - JNS
At least six Israeli civilians were injured on Sunday afternoon, one critically, when Lebanese Hezbollah terrorists fired anti-tank missiles towards Moshav Dovev in the Upper Galilee.
Five other victims were seriously wounded, the Magen David Adom emergency medical service said. The wounded were evacuated from the scene by Israeli forces so they could be safely treated by paramedics.
According to Israel’s Kan News public broadcaster, as many as 14 civilians were injured in the attack.
Kan News said at least some of the victims were employees of the Israel Electric Corporation working to repair power lines damaged by previous attacks from Lebanon. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu says IDF will control Gaza after war, rejects notion of international force - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday the IDF will remain in control of the Gaza Strip after the current war ends, and will not rely on international forces to oversee security along the border.
Netanyahu made the comments in a meeting with the mayors of Gaza border towns at IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv. The local leaders oversee many of the communities that were assaulted and had their residents murdered and kidnapped in Hamas’s October 7 massacres of southern communities. Others have faced daily barrages of rockets from Gaza over the past month, and many communities have been evacuated as Israel presses ahead in its military campaign, leaving tens of thousands internally displaced.
“IDF forces will remain in control of the Strip, we will not give it to international forces,” Netanyahu said, according to a readout from his spokesperson, not saying whether it would do so for the short or long term. (Read more)

3. IDF: No siege at Shifa Hospital, we’ll help move babies to safety; 5 soldiers killed - Times of Israel
As fighting between Israel and Hamas continued to rage Saturday in northern Gaza, including near the Strip’s largest hospital, the Israel Defense Forces denied Palestinian claims that the hospital was under siege or that those inside were trapped, while asserting troops were continuing to make achievements against Hamas on the ground.
The IDF further said that it was asked by staff at Shifa Hospital to help enable the transfer of babies in the pediatric department to a safer hospital, and would do so on Sunday.
The military also announced that five more soldiers had been killed in the fighting, bringing the toll of servicemembers slain in Israel’s ground operation in the enclave to 42. (Read more)

4. Boris Johnson decries revival of ‘ancient hatred’ as anti-Israel protesters hound Jews - World Israel News
Half a million people protested in London on Saturday, coinciding with the UK’s Remembrance Day, against Israel’s ongoing military operation in Gaza to destroy the Hamas terror group following the October 7th massacre.
The demonstration, which was organized by the Stop the War Coalition, was the largest of its kind since the IDF campaign began.
Many waved white, red, and green Palestinian flags and called for a ceasefire. However, others went further, expressing sympathy for Hamas and chanting “from the river to the sea,” which is effectively a call to wipe out the borders of Israel.
Jewish families were targeted and harassed on their way out of synagogue on Abbey Road in St. John’s Wood, as reported by The Campaign Against Antisemitism. (Read more)

5. Second time in a week: Jewish school in Montreal riddled with bullets - Israel National News
The Montreal Jewish community is again facing a violent attack after gunshots were fired at a Jewish school in the city's west end several days after a similar incident.
According to Canadian public broadcaster CBC, Police say they received several calls about gunshots near Yeshiva Gedola of Montreal, located on Deacon Road in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood, at around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Officers say they found bullet holes in the building and shell casings on the ground nearby.
No one was injured, and no arrests have been made yet.
Service de police de la Ville de Montréal(SPVM) spokesperson Véronique Dubuc says witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the scene at the time of the gunfire. (Read more)

1. Biden Admin’s Regulatory Overhaul Is Poised To Burden Americans In The Name Of Fighting Climate Change - Daily Caller
President Joe Biden’s administration finalized guidance Thursday likely to burden Americans with costlier regulations to fulfill administration priorities such as combating climate change.
Biden’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is enacting new guidance that would require regulators to consider priorities like inequality and climate change when analyzing the costs and benefits of regulation. The White House argued the guidance is necessary so that regulations are issued with up-to-date analysis and information.
Critics, however, argue the new guidance would lead to costlier regulations in the name of the Biden administration’s agenda.
“Adjusting how cost-benefit analysis is conducted in a way to make it easier to issue heavy-handed and costly regulations is unwise at anytime, particularly when Americans continue to suffer under punishingly high inflation,” Republican Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford stated, according to The New York Times.
The new regulations will in practice allow for stronger climate regulations by factoring in the projected economic costs of climate change and global warming, according to the NYT. (Read more)

2. Air Force Requests Congressional Intervention Over Wind Turbines Near Nuclear Missile Sites – Daily Wire
The Air Force has requested that Congress pass legislation to stop wind turbines from encroaching on nuclear missile sites throughout the U.S.
According to the Air Force, underground nuclear missile sites in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Colorado need to be shielded from the growing wind turbine industry for safety and security concerns. The Air Force says that 46 of the 450 underground nuclear missile sites have been “severely” encroached upon. Some wind turbines can stand 650 feet tall and present a barrier for helicopters carrying technicians or others who need to access the sites.
“When you think about a wind turbine, and even fields of wind turbines, they’ll stretch for miles,” Staff Sgt. Chase Rose, a UH-1 Huey flight engineer at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, told the Associated Press. “They’re monstrous, and then you have gigantic blades spinning on them as well. Not only is that a physical obstacle, but those turbines, they create the hazards like turbulence as well. That can be really dangerous for us to fly into. So it’s a very complex situation, when you have to deal with those.”
The Air Force is advocating for legislation that would mandate a 2-nautical-mile buffer zone around the hundreds of underground missile launch sites throughout the U.S. The Air Force and the American Clean Power Association drafted the legislation. (Read more)

3. Report: Democrats Circulate Plan to ‘Open the Floodgates for Palestinians’ - Breitbart
House and Senate Democrats are reportedly circulating a plan to fellow Democrats that would “open the floodgates for Palestinians” to arrive in the United States, according to a report from the Daily Caller.
Henry Rodgers of the Daily Caller reports that Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) are lobbying fellow Democrats to sign onto a letter to urge President Joe Biden to provide Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to Palestinians in the U.S.
Both TPS and DED would ensure that Palestinians cannot be deported from the U.S.
The reported letter from Democrats comes as the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a far-left organization with deep ties to the Democrat Party, authored a letter to Biden asking for TPS and DED for Palestinians in the U.S.
CAIR’s letter was issued after Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-MT) and other House Republicans introduced legislation to ban the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from providing green cards, visas, refugee status, and parole to Palestinians. (Read more)

4. New 'Orwellian' HHS pronoun mandate forces employees to 'deny reality,' violate law: legal expert - Fox
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has rolled out a new gender pronoun policy that one Heritage Foundation expert and former HHS official says violates employee rights and will result in firings for "misgendering."
"HHS and the federal government is requiring its employees to speak falsehoods," Roger Severino, the Heritage Foundation’s vice president for domestic policy and the former head of civil rights at HHS during the Trump administration, told Fox News Digital.
Severino first broke the story on X, formerly Twitter, last week. He wrote that HHS "imposed a transgender pronoun mandate on its employees who will now be forced to deny biological realities with their own words or face firing" and he included a screenshot of an email sent to employees at the department.
Severino told Fox News Digital that the First Amendment protects federal employees from being required to speak falsehoods, being compelled to adopt a state-approved ideology and requiring people to deny their own faith. (Read more)

5. EXCLUSIVE: Biden EPA’s Power Plant Scheme Would Hamstring US Energy, New Report Finds – Daily Caller
Power the Future (PTF), an energy advocacy organization, published a new report Thursday highlighting the severe negative impacts that the Biden administration’s proposal to reshape America’s power grid would have on energy reliability.
The PTF report, shared exclusively with the Daily Caller News Foundation, analyzes a May proposal from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would force power plants to adopt expensive and generally unproven technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the coming decades. The proposal, which the EPA asserts will reduce emissions without necessarily forcing the replacement coal- and gas-fired plants with green energy generation, is a de facto end-run to achieve nearly identical policy outcomes to those envisioned by the Obama administration’s “Clean Power Plan,” which the Supreme Court shot down in West Virginia v. EPA, according to the PTF report.
“The EPA’s Clean Power Plan 2.0 is one of the most costly, infeasible and dangerous policies handed down by the Biden administration – and that is not a low bar,” Daniel Turner, PTF’s executive director, told the DCNF. “It would cede U.S. energy security to communist China, making America more reliant on imported critical minerals and rare earth elements to power our electric grid. At the same time, Americans would face more blackouts and brownouts, and higher electricity bills, as reliable coal and natural gas plants are forced to shut down. Handing hostile foreign countries a payday at the expense of U.S. national security to appease the radical eco-left is, unfortunately, par for the course for President Biden.” (Read more)

6. North Korea closing embassies around the world amid suspected financial crisis - Fox News
North Korea continues shutting down many of its limited embassies around the world, furthering suspicions of an ongoing financial crisis.
The hermit kingdom is shutting down its embassy in Nepal, according to reports published Friday.
This is at least the fifth country North Korea has consciously pulled out of in recent months, ostensibly for diplomatic restructuring.
"We are conducting operations to withdraw and establish diplomatic missions in accordance with the changed global environment and national diplomatic policy," a spokesperson for North Korea's foreign ministry wrote earlier this month, according to translations from Yonhap News Agency.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un has approved withdrawal from Nepal, Spain, Angola, Uganda and Hong Kong in recent months, leading to some confusion from diplomats.

7. Republicans demand answers after top Biden official invited CCP leaders to sensitive national security site – Fox News
A coalition of 18 House Republicans led by GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., are pressing Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm over her agency's invitation for foreign adversaries to inspect a sensitive U.S. nuclear testing site.
In a letter sent Thursday morning, Stefanik and the other Republicans blasted Granholm for recently offering China and Russia "unprecedented access" to the Department of Energy's (DOE) Nevada National Security Site. Bloomberg reported in September that the DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration invited Chinese and Russian officials to tour the site to prove the U.S. is upholding a three-decade moratorium against testing nuclear weapons.
"I am leading my colleagues in demanding that President Biden revoke this misguided invitation to our adversaries in Beijing and Moscow that grants them unprecedented access and insight into our nuclear weapons," Stefanik told Fox News Digital. "Inviting Communist China and Russia to have a front row seat for our sensitive nuclear weapons tests will give them invaluable information on how to defeat our nuclear capabilities and improve their own."
"At a time when our adversaries are growing their nuclear stockpiles to undermine America’s leadership, allowing them access to one of our nuclear test sites will only advance this pursuit and lead to our own destruction," she continued. (Read more)

8. Report: China Becomes Leading Owner and Operator of Commercial Seaports Worldwide - Breitbart
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) released a report this week that found China has become a leading power in operating seaports across the globe, as well as “the world’s largest trading country and second-largest economy.”
China owns or operates a seaport on every continent except Antarctica and, at last count, it had stakes in 92 active seaport projects
.
“Chinese President Xi Jinping’s launch of the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013 and the introduction of the Twenty-First Century Maritime Silk Road, which connects China to Europe and the Arctic Ocean via the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean, have supercharged China’s overseas port investment and construction activities,” CFR said.
Interestingly, China became a dominant port power without becoming a major naval power, at least not yet. The Communist tyranny developed “significant geoeconomic influence over international sea-lanes and commercial ports underpinning the global flow of goods” without building many naval bases outside its borders.
The People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has certainly grown large enough for force projection. The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) reported last month that China now has “the world’s largest navy, with a battle force of more than 370 ships and submarines,” including three aircraft carriers and three amphibious assault ships. China’s air force is also “rapidly catching up to Western air forces,” according to U.S. officials. (Read more)

9. Alabama pastor, mayor kills himself after cross-dressing photos emerge - Fox News
An Alabama mayor and pastor ended his life last week after a conservative news site posted several photos of him dressed in women's clothing.
F.L. "Bubba" Copeland, 49, was the mayor of Smiths Station and was a senior pastor at First Baptist Church in nearby Phenix City when 1819 News revealed his secret life online as a "transgender curvy girl."
Two days later, Copeland shot himself in front of deputies after they pulled him over to do a welfare check, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
"He exited the vehicle, produced a handgun, and took his own life," the sheriff’s office said. (Read more)

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators smashed a door at New York City’s Grand Central Station on Friday night and briefly forced the closure of the transportation hub as they marched through the streets of Manhattan for the second night in a row.
ABC-7 New York reported:
Service at Grand Central was limited on Friday after pro-Palestine protesters flooded the streets.
The pro-Palestinian rally started at 5 p.m. Friday at Columbus Circle, with thousands marching through the streets demanding a ceasefire overseas.
Marchers then made their way to the New York Times building, vandalizing the front with a red tint before heading to Grand Central.
CBS New York reported that there were several arrests, and violence elsewhere related to the demonstrations:
The NYPD says demonstrations are being held just about every day in the city and stretching police resources. Each precinct now has one supervisor and eight uniformed officers on standby, ready to respond to planned or pop-up demonstrations, according to police sources.

Police say around 9:30 p.m., some demonstrators staged a sit-in at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue and refused to comply with officers’ orders. Police also say there were altercations between some demonstrators and bystanders.

Stefanik hits Trump NY trial judge with formal complaint over 'bizarre behavior' and 'bias

The No. 3 House Republican leader is wading into the dramatic New York civil trial of former President Donald Trump, accusing the judge involved of exhibiting "bias" and "bizarre behavior" in the courtroom.
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., filed an ethics complaint against Judge Arthur Engoron on Friday morning in a letter to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
"I write today to express my serious concerns about the inappropriate bias and judicial intemperance shown by Judge Arthur F. Engoron in New York’s lawsuit against President Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization," Stefanik said in her letter.
"This judge’s bizarre behavior has no place in our judicial system, where Judge Engoron is not honoring the defendant’s rights to due process and a fair trial," the letter continued.
"These serious concerns are exacerbated by the fact that the defendant is the leading candidate for President of the United States, and it appears the judicial system is being politicized to affect the outcome of the campaign," Stefanik wrote.
This historic trial over whether the Trump Organization and its top officials knowingly misrepresented the value of multiple real estate holdings over the years has seen Trump and his three adult children all testify in a downtown New York City courtroom this month. (Fox News) Read more here.

Drones fired at US forces in northeast Syria in 48th attack since Oct. 17
|

Multiple one-way drones targeted U.S. forces at Rumalyn Landing Zone in northeast Syria on Saturday morning, a U.S. Defense official said.
One drone was shot down and the other impacted Rumalyn Landing Zone but did not detonate. No injuries or damage to infrastructure has been reported.
"Between Oct. 17-Nov. 11, U.S. and Coalition Forces have been attacked at least 48 times to date," the official said. There have been 24 separate attacks in Iraq and 24 separate incidents in Syria by a mix of one-way attack drones and rockets, they added.
"Most of these attacks were successfully disrupted by our military. Most failed to reach their targets, thanks to our robust defenses," the official said.
This marks the sixth attack on American forces since the U.S. airstrikes in Syria on Wednesday night, Nov. 8. (Fox News) Read more

Senator Blackburn subpoenas Jeffrey Epstein's estate for flight logs

On Thursday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn announced that she had issued a subpoena to the estate of Jeffrey Epstein demanding that Congress be given access to the flight logs for his private plane.
She said her goal was to expose those who spent time with the accused pedophile and human trafficker.
"Since we're in the business of issuing subpoenas now, here are a few more I've filed," Blackburn said. "A subpoena to Jeffrey Epstein's estate to provide the flight logs for his private plane."
"Given the numerous allegations of human trafficking and sexual abuse surrounding Mr. Epstein," she added, "I think it is very important that we identify everybody that was on that plane, and how many trips they took on that plane, and the destinations to which they arrived."
Earlier this year during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's flight logs were made public, however those records only covered between 1995 and 2013.
In the years since Epstein didn't kill himself at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in 2019, there has been an increased attempt to determine who was on the plane with him.
A number of victims, and one of his pilots, have come out claiming that numerous prominent individuals, including Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, and Donald Trump, flew with the accused sex offender.

Space station astronaut spots ‘ghostly’ image
staring at them from Earth

In a remote area of the Sahara desert sits a 3,000-foot deep volcanic pit that looks like a ghoulish skull when viewed by space, NASA photos show.
The NASA Earth Observatory said last week an astronaut aboard the International Space Station spotted the odd formation in the Tibesti Mountains in the Republic of Chad. The photos were originally taken in February of this year, and later re-shared by NASA.
"The 1,000-meter (3,300-foot) deep volcanic pit and soda lake Trou au Natron in northern Chad has the look of a ghostly face staring back at you," the NASA Earth Observatory said in a blog post last week.
The photos show what appears to be a massive skull formation, with two eye sockets and a nose surrounded by a white material that builds out the appearance of a skull. NASA said the eye sockets and nose are actually "cinder cones—steep conical hills built around volcanic vents," while the white material is "a mineral crust made of a salt known as natron." Read More

A crew of ten American cowboys and farmers have travelled to the Jewish state to “serve Israel in any way we can during the hard time in the struggle against Hamas.” The group of American Christian cowboys from Arkansas and Montana have become popular in Israel after volunteering to assist the Jewish state by aiding farmers facing a labor shortage since October 7. The heroic cowboys, who arrived late Monday evening, funded their own trips, motivated by their religious connection to Israel and biblical beliefs. Their presence has gained significant attention online since.
The “righteous” cowboys continue to receive a hero’s reception by Israel’s residents and supporters. “Thank you, guys. Y’all are heroes,” wrote Israeli public speaker Emanuel Miller. “These are some of the most famous people in Israel right now – Christian cowboys and farmers from Arkansas and Montana, who flew to Israel to help on our farms,” wrote Yael Eckstein, President and CEO of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. “Thank you, for letting us know that for the first time in history…the Jewish people are not alone!” she added.
