‘Total Abomination’: $1.2 Trillion Bill Funds Teen Trans Programs, Abortion to 22 Weeks
|
|
A sprawling, $1.2 trillion government funding bill includes funding for abortion facilities, as well as LGBTQ activist centers that carry out transgender injections, target minors, hold drag shows, and help illegal immigrants who identify as gay or transgender gain U.S. citizenship — a bill one congressman calls “a total, total abomination.”
The “Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024” funds the Departments of Defense, Education, Health and Human Services (HHS), Homeland Security (DHS), Labor, and State until the end of the fiscal year, September 30. Congressional leadership released the text of the 1,012-page bill at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, giving members of Congress just hours to read before an anticipated vote to head off an impending government shutdown at midnight Saturday. Death toll rises to 133 in Moscow terror attack, 11 suspects arrested
|
|
The death toll in Friday’s terror attack on a concert in Moscow has soared to at least 133, Russia’s top state investigative agency said Saturday, with authorities saying they have apprehended 11 suspects, four of whom were directly involved in the onslaught.
President Putin addressed the shocked nation in a televised broadcast on Saturday, slamming the massacre as "a bloody, barbaric terrorist act." He declared Sun., March 24, a day of mourning.
Putin said that additional security measures have been put in place throughout the country following the attack – the deadliest in over 20 years.
"All four direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack, all those who shot and killed people, were found and detained," Putin said. "They tried to hide and moved towards Ukraine, where, according to preliminary data, a window was prepared for them from the Ukrainian side to cross the state border."
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in a statement on its affiliated social media channels, and the U.S. has said it has intelligence confirming that, according to several outlets. Marjorie Taylor Greene Files Motion to Oust Speaker Johnson
|
|
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has formally moved to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) from his leadership role in frustration over a $1.2 trillion spending package Congress is working to pass today to avoid a shutdown.
Ms. Greene filed the motion to vacate on Friday, March 22, as members of the House voted to fund the remaining 70 percent of the federal government through the rest of the fiscal year.
The funding package, comprising six appropriations bills, was introduced in the wee hours of March 21—just one day ahead of the deadline to avoid a partial government shutdown. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu participated on Sunday evening in the Purim Megilla reading with the commanders and soldiers of the Military Police Corps’ Erez Battalion.
Netanyahu told the soldiers: "I am very impressed with your work at all times, but especially these days. The challenges you face have increased significantly, to say the least.”
“Missions have been intensified and so has your performance. You are defending the State of Israel, the citizens of Israel, around the clock, in many missions, you put yourselves at risk and some even sacrificed their lives. 2. Israel willing to defy US on Rafah, PM says, Israeli officials head to DC - Jerusalem Post
Israel is willing to defy the United States on Rafah if it has to, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said as top Israeli officials are prepared to head to Washington this week to discuss the controversial military operation in southern Gaza.
“There is no way for us to defeat Hamas without going into Rafah and eliminating the rest of the battalions there,” Netanyahu said on Friday after he met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Tel Aviv. Blinken made his sixth trip to the region since the start of the war.
The two men discussed the growing tension between their governments over the Rafah operation, which the US opposes and which Israel insists is the only way to win the war. (Read more)

3. Israel accepts US hostage deal compromise, awaits Hamas response - Jerusalem Post
The Israeli delegation in Qatar has agreed to an American compromise on the issue of the number of Palestinian prisoners who will be swapped for each Israeli hostage and await a response from Hamas, Israeli media reported Saturday night.
According to the reports, there were originally major disagreements about this number, prompting the American compromise proposal.
The Israeli team in Qatar has been authorized to discuss the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza, according to N12, who also reported that a Hamas response will likely take a few days to receive due to the logistics of getting approval from Hamas leadership in Gaza. (Read more)

4. UNSC vote set for Monday on new Gaza ceasefire resolution; US unlikely to back it - Times of Israel
The UN Security Council is set to vote on Monday on a resolution demanding a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but the United States warned the measure could hurt negotiations to pause the Israel-Hamas war, and is unlikely to back it.
The resolution, put forward by the 10 elected council members, is backed by Russia and China, who vetoed a US-sponsored resolution Friday that supported “an immediate and sustained ceasefire” in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
The 22-nation Arab Group at the UN issued a statement on Friday night appealing to all 15 council members “to act with unity and urgency” and vote for the resolution “to halt the bloodshed, preserve human lives and avert further human suffering and destruction.” (Read more)

5. Hezbollah fires dozens of rockets at northern Israel as IDF strikes deep in Lebanon - Times of Israel
The Hezbollah terror group fired at least 50 rockets at northern Israel in the predawn hours of Sunday, with the Israel Defense Forces saying it shot down several of the projectiles as others hit open areas.
The barrage, one of the heaviest since the start of hostilities in October, came amid a weekend of strikes by Israel on the Iran-backed terror group’s sites, including one far in the northeastern part of the country shortly after midnight on Sunday, that Hezbollah said prompted the rocket fire in response.
Israel has been launching airstrikes deeper and deeper into Lebanese territory against Hezbollah positions for several weeks as the terror group steps up its attacks, heightening the threat of open warfare and an expansion of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip to Israel’s south. (Read more)

1: Wisconsin Supreme Court Decision Truncates Religion- Religious Freedom Institute
On March 14, the Wisconsin Supreme Court held that the Catholic Charities Bureau is not exempt from the state’s unemployment compensation law because the organization isn’t religious.
This decision, Catholic Charities v. Wisconsin Labor & Industry Review Commission, might at first glance seem to be yet another boring administrative matter. However, exemptions from the law can be given to religious organizations, but the court made the strange ruling that the charity — although under the active authority of a Catholic diocese — is primarily a “charitable” and “secular” organization. The plaintiffs plan to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.
This court has recently been a major object and source of ideological division. On April 4, 2023, Janet Protasiewicz was elected to a seat, giving liberals their first majority in 15 years that was also the most expensive state Supreme Court race in American history.
The election was not concerned with Catholic Charities and was principally about abortion and especially how the justices would handle looming Congressional redistricting decisions. But recently, many liberal judges espouse a very cramped view of the role of religion in society.
The background is that, through its unemployment insurance program, Wisconsin assists people who have lost their job through no fault of their own. Some nonprofits, including religious ones, may be exempt from taxes for this insurance program.
Catholic Charities, whose self-defined mission since 1917 has been “providing services to the poor and disadvantaged” and being “an effective sign of the charity of Christ,” requested an exemption and instead wished to enroll in the Wisconsin Bishops’ Church Unemployment Pay Program, which provides the same level of benefits as does the state system. Lower courts had denied this requested exemption, arguing that Catholic Charities was not primarily religious.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty argued for Catholic Charities, who had lots of support from groups that included conservative Baptists, liberal United Methodists, Lutherans, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, the Sikh Coalition, the Jewish Coalition for Religious Liberty, the American Islamic Congress and the Islam and Religious Freedom Action Team of the Religious Freedom Institute. This was not a narrow “religious right” position. (Read more)

2: States Take on ‘Censorship-Industrial Complex’ before Supreme Court - The Washington Stand
The Supreme Court heard arguments on Monday in a challenge to the Biden administration’s “censorship-industrial complex,” as Family Research Council President Tony Perkins described its methods of coercing or pressuring social media platforms to “stifle constitutionally protected speech that it viewed as misinformation or disinformation.” Whatever the court decides, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry (R) described it on “Washington Watch” as “the most important First Amendment case in the last hundred years.”
The Substance of the Case
In the case (Murthy v. Missouri), Louisiana, Missouri, and several private individuals, including Stanford professor Jay Bhattacharya, sued the government over its “coercive relationship” with Big Tech officials, described Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey (R) on “Washington Watch.” Officials for the White House, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security contacted social media companies and got them to remove or downgrade posts communicating an opinion contrary to the government.
“You can see in the emails where federal officials are demanding removal of certain posts, certain content, and then demanding that Big Tech change its censorship algorithms,” Bailey narrated. “And you can look on the back end … and see — at least when it comes to Facebook, as an example — internal emails from Facebook between their employees establish[ing] that Facebook changed its algorithms because of pressure from the federal government. That proves coercion.”
“Basically, they didn’t like critics having a voice,” Perkins summarized. Bailey agreed, “The goal of the vast censorship enterprise, from the federal government’s standpoint, was to drive from public discourse any viewpoint that they disagreed with.”
This constituted First Amendment violations of “enormous magnitude,” added Bailey. “It’s not just the speakers who were specifically silenced [who were harmed]. It’s anyone who would have heard the message that the speakers were trying to deliver.” By extension, this would mean “anyone who’s received any information from Big Tech social media.”

3: Exclusive: Sen. Marco Rubio Debuts Bill Banning Embassies from Flying Non-U.S. Flags Larger and Higher than Stars and Stripes- Breitbart
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced a one-page bill on Thursday that would prohibit embassies and other diplomatic missions, as well as official American government vehicles, from displaying non-U.S. flags larger and higher than the American flag.
The bill is necessary, Sen. Rubio told Breitbart News, because “woke ideology” is threatening to “take that sense of national pride from us” in the form of conspicuous displays of non-American flags abroad in contexts representing the United States.
The introduction of the bill follows a major change in State Department policy under President Joe Biden. Less than a month after Biden’s inauguration, Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued directives that allowed embassies, consulates, and other diplomatic outposts around the world to display the LGBTQIAAP2S+ flag, an updated design modifying the original “rainbow flag” representing gay and lesbian people. Embassies in the free world – in locations such as Brazil and the Vatican – have prominently displayed the flag and promoted gender ideology under Biden, while outposts in nations that prominently persecute gay and lesbian people, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, have not. 4. Kate Middleton announces she has cancer, undergoing chemotherapy treatment- Fox News
Princess Kate announced she's been diagnosed with cancer in a video message.
The Princess of Wales, 42, has been undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment after a planned abdominal surgery showed "cancer had been present." Kate did not elaborate on the form or extent of the cancer in her video.
She gave the update on her health Friday after undergoing major surgery earlier this year.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery," Kate said in the video recorded Wednesday.
"It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful."

5. U.S. Intelligence Official Claims ‘Crossdressing’ Makes Him Better at ‘Understanding Foreign Actors’ - Breitbart
A United States intelligence official recently wrote in a newsletter published by the director of National Intelligence’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Office that crossdressing makes him better understand “foreign actors” and that “wearing a bra” helps him be more supportive of women.
Published in the Winter edition of The Dive, the official wrote that he is a man who likes to wear women’s clothing sometimes and that it has made him understand “foreign actors” better, as well as secret agents. He also argued it made him a better colleague.
He claimed:
My experiences dressing in feminine clothing have helped me recognize and overcome my own identity-based biases and mindsets. Crossdressing has helped me understand that other people–including those we study in the IC–experience the world differently. Many in the international relations and national security fields call this strategic empathy-the practice of looking at issues from another person’s perspective, used to better understand foreign actors.
He said crossdressing helped him better understand clandestine assets and their motivations since he understands the “motivation to keep secrets about who you are and what you’re doing.” (Read more)

6. Top GOP lawmaker announces early exit, leaving Republicans with temporary one-seat majority- Fox
News
Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., chairman of the House select committee on China, announced he's leaving Congress on April 19, which will temporarily leave House Republicans with just a one-seat majority.
Gallagher revealed in February that he would not be running for a fifth term in the House, a shocking announcement for someone long considered a rising star within the Republican Party.
His early departure will mean that Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., can only afford to lose one GOP lawmaker on any vote that falls along party lines. That will likely remain the case until June, when there's a special election to replace ex-Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio.
A special election to replace ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is set to take place in May. McCarthy's former seat in California's 20th Congressional District is a safe red seat, so it's likely going to give Johnson a GOP win.
Before that, however, is an April 30 special election to replace Rep. Brian Higgins, D-N.Y., a longtime left-wing lawmaker who departed earlier this year. That election will likely see Democrats add to their tally, which would keep the House majority at one seat. (Read more)

7. “WATCH: Large Migrant Group Pushes Past Texas Military at El Paso Border”-- Breitbart
A large group of migrants appeared to push their way past Texas National Guard soldiers and razor-wire barriers in an attempt to enter the United States near El Paso on Thursday illegally. The migrants appeared to be stopped by a permanent border barrier after assaulting several guardsmen.
A video posted on X by New York Post journalist Jennie Taer shows a large group of migrants shoving and assaulting members of the Texas National Guard who are defending the border under Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star border security mission. The migrant group eventually broke through the border wire and rushed a permanent border barrier, also manned by guardsmen.
Taer described the scene as a riot as the group of migrants began beating on the locked border wall. El Paso Sector Border Patrol agents can also be seen standing by as the guardsmen kept the gate secured.
Two hours earlier, Taer reported a calm scene as small batches of a 600 member migrant group were pushed back to Mexico by the guardsmen stand by the razor-wire border fencing.
Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt (R) reposted Taer’s video, saying, “No, these are not scenes from World War Z. This is your southern border thanks to Joe Biden.”
Texas Congressman Troy Nehls added, “We are being invaded. And, Joe Biden is doing nothing to stop it.”

8. Biden Campaign Rolls Out Nickname For Trump; Strategists Say That’s A Bad Idea- Daily Wire
The Biden campaign is taking a page from former President Donald Trump’s playbook, rolling out a nickname for the president’s political rival as the 2024 race heats up.
In an email to supporters on Thursday, the Biden-Harris campaign referred to Trump as “Broke Don,” copying a strategy made popular by the former president during his 2016 and 2020 campaigns. Team Biden’s nickname for Trump comes after the Democrat’s campaign reported a massive fundraising edge over Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC).
According to a report filed on Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission, the Biden campaign ended February with $71 million cash on hand, which, combined with the Democratic National Committee, puts the president’s war chest at $97.5 million, POLITICO reported. Biden now has double the combined money of the Trump campaign and the RNC, which has $44.8 million on hand.
“Not a Winning Campaign: Broke Don Hides in Basement,” the Biden campaign email said. “Trump can’t raise money, isn’t campaigning, and is letting convicts and conspiracy theorists run his campaign.” (Read more)

US warning to Americans about imminent attack in Moscow proves prophetic 2 weeks later
|
|
|
Two weeks before Friday’s attack on a large concert hall in Russia on the outskirts of Moscow that has left more than 130 dead, the U.S. embassy sent out a warning to Americans to "avoid large gatherings," including concerts, because of "imminent plans" for an attack by "extremists."
"The Embassy is monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and U.S. citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours," stated the March 7 alert.
The Islamic State group (ISIS) claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack, which the U.S. has confirmed, despite Russian officials trying to point blame at Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the U.S. warnings as "blackmail" just days before the attack.
Just three days before the attack, Putin said, "All this resembles outright blackmail and the intention to intimidate and destabilize our society," calling the warnings "provocative," according to Russian news agency TASS.
The State Department confirmed to Fox News that U.S. intelligence had information about a planned terrorist attack in Moscow, which prompted the agency to issue a public advisory to U.S. citizens in Russia.
The U.S. government also shared this information with Russian authorities in accordance with its longstanding "duty to warn" policy. (Fox News) Read more here.

Netanyahu Tells Blinken That Israel Will Launch Rafah Offensive ‘Alone’ If US Opposes
|

|
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told visiting State Secretary Antony Blinken on Friday that Israel could launch a ground offensive in Gaza’s southernmost city Rafah “alone” without U.S. backing.
Mr. Blinken met with the Israeli leader in Tel Aviv on March 22 and urged Israel not to invade Rafah, saying that such an action “risks wreaking greater havoc.”
“As we’ve said, though, a major military ground operation in Rafah is not the way to do it,” Mr. Blinken said at a press conference in Tel Aviv.

“It risks killing more civilians, it risks wreaking greater havoc with the provision of humanitarian assistance, it risks further isolating Israel around the world and jeopardizing its long-term security and standing.”
The State Department said that Mr. Blinken also discussed with Mr. Netanyahu efforts to reach a deal for a six-week ceasefire that would secure the release of hostages and a surge in humanitarian aid to Gaza.
However, Mr. Netanyahu stated on X that he had conveyed to Mr. Blinken during the meeting that there was no way to defeat Hamas without entering Rafah and eliminating the remnant of the battalions there.
“I told him that I hope we would do this with U.S. support but if necessary—we will do it alone,” the Israeli leader stated.
“I also told him that we recognize the need to evacuate the civilian population from the combat zones and—of course—also see to the humanitarian needs, and we are working to this end,” he added.
The Biden administration has been urging Israel to refrain from launching a major offensive in Rafah until a plan for the mass evacuation of civilians from the last area of Gaza is created. More than half of Gaza’s 2.3 million people are sheltering in the Rafah area.

The federal government's attacks on Christians gained prominence under Barack Obama when he insisted that faith-based organizations pay for abortions for employees as part of their health insurance.
No exemptions, he demanded. And those conscience protections for hospitals or doctors who objected to the wanton destruction of unborn babies had to go, he insisted. . .
Now a commentary from the James Dobson Family Institute is warning of more evidence of a Biden-instigated war on Christians is growing.
The report, written by Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the JFDI, said, "Are Evangelical Christians a 'threat' to America? JDFI is outraged to learn that according to material coming out of the Biden administration, we are."
He wrote, "A recent diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) toolkit on religious tolerance produced by the Biden administration recommended to users a resource guide. Among the resources listed in it is a website with articles that not only called evangelicals a threat, but also said our influence must be 'rooted out.'"
The report explains it is Biden's online posting called, "Allied Against Hate: A Toolkit for Faith Communities." . . .
One website piece, the report explained, "actually claimed that 'Christian Zionist Evangelicals' were the greater threat to Jews than Palestinians."
He noted Biden claims "no responsibility" for the content of the external site.
But it's not that simple.
"JDFI isn’t buying the disclaimer. In the name of religious tolerance, the executive branch of the U.S. government is sending Americans to a site that attacks pro-Israel Christians, Evangelicals, and makes excuses for terrorism," he said. FAA warns of impacts to air travel during solar eclipse
|

More than 30 million Americans are estimated to live in the path of totality, with many millions more expected to travel to the 15 states where the event will be visible. The FAA highlighted airports in Dallas, Indianapolis, and Cleveland as being at risk for delays during the eclipse.
WASHINGTON - The Federal Aviation Administration is warning travelers and pilots the total solar eclipse in April could snarl air traffic, especially at airports located in what is known as the path of totality.
The FAA posted what it called "special air traffic procedures" on its website Thursday that listed the possible impacts on the industry and what airports could be subject to operational changes.
Hundreds of airports are either located in the path totality or are close enough in proximity to service aviators interested in the phenomenon.
The bulletin includes major airports such as Dallas-Fort Worth International, Indianapolis International and Cleveland International.
Starting before noon on April 8, the Moon will completely block the Sun for several minutes, leading to temporary darkness that will begin over Texas and travel over 15 states. Read More

Border Revival Heats Up:
'We're Going Back to What We Know Works'

Latino faith leader Rev. Tony Suarez will host revival events on the border this week and next week. "We've tried politics, we've tried protesting. We've tried advocating. Now we're going to go back to what we know works which is prayer, fasting, coming before God and just knowing that He really is the only hope that our nation and our southern border has," Suarez told CBN News. Suarez, the chief operating officer of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) and the founder of Revivalmakers, is leading Texas revival events in El Paso on March 21-23 and in McAllen on March 27-29 as well as strategic prayer stops in Presidio, Laredo, Eagle Pass and Brownsville.
The NHCLC, the largest Latino faith organization in the U.S., recently launched a campaign focused on immigration reform and voter mobilization in advance of the 2024 election. The immigration plan calls for an end to illegal immigration and securing the border, opposing use of the U.S. military for deportation, a non-amnesty path to legal status for undocumented immigrants, a streamlined sponsorship process to help immigrants enter the workforce and other measures. Suarez is the second American evangelist to hold events in U.S. border cities this year. Earlier this month, Franklin Graham preached in ten communities along the southern border ranging from Brownsville, Texas to Chula Vista, California. Graham reported record responses to the Gospel.
