Sen. Ted Cruz sounded off on an email Hunter Biden sent to a Burisma colleague, alleging the correspondence indicates he had access to classified material as new information is revealed regarding the magnitude of Biden's latest scandal.
Cruz joined " Sunday Morning Futures" to discuss why the email was "unusual" and how it infers that he had "direct access" to the information that could be tied to Biden's alleged mishandling of thousands of records.
"Hunter Biden didn't write that," Cruz told Maria Bartiromo. "Hunter Biden is not an expert on Ukraine. He's not an expert on Eastern Europe. He's not an expert on Russia, but that email did help get him on the board of Burisma. It did help get him paid $83,000 a month because it showed a level of expertise not coming from him, but he was getting it from somewhere. That's clearly from some sort of briefing. We don't know whether it was a classified briefing or not, but that is the sort of analysis that is often within a classified briefing."( Read more)

1. Landing in Israel to begin two-day visit, Blinken warns against continued violence - Times of Israel
Landing in Tel Aviv on Monday afternoon, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called on Israelis and Palestinians to avoid raising tensions further amid one of the deadliest recent surges of violence.
“It’s the responsibility of everyone to take steps to calm tensions rather than inflame them,” the top US diplomat said after stepping off his plane at the start of a two-day visit to Israel and the Palestinian Authority. “That is the only way to halt the rising tide of violence that has taken too many lives, too many Israelis, too many Palestinians.”
A Palestinian gunman on Friday killed seven people outside a synagogue in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Neve Yaakov, and another attack followed on Saturdaythat seriously injured two. (Read more)

2, In Jerusalem, Blinken pushes two-state solution, ‘equal measure of freedom’ for Israelis, Palestinians - World Israel News
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who began his three-day visit to the Middle East in Cairo, landed in Israel at noon on Monday.
After meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two gave a joint press conference in Jerusalem, where the Israeli leader stated that “Israel will remain a strong and prosperous democracy” and pledged that Israel would do everything in its power to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
“Your visit comes at an important time,” the prime minister said. “It’s a time where many in the international community, I would say most of the international community, have seen the true face of Iran. They’ve seen the barbarism of this regime against its own people. They’ve seen how it exports aggression beyond its border and beyond the Middle East. And I think there’s a common consensus that this regime must not acquire nuclear weapons. We’ve had very good discussions on forging a common policy, on trying to work together to thwart the danger. 3. Israel’s Netanyahu to meet with French PM Macron in Paris - i24 News
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Paris on Thursday, his first visit to France since returning to power, his office announced on Monday.
Netanyahu – who served as prime minister from 2009 to 2021 and returned to power last month – “will make an official visit to France where he will meet French President Emmanuel Macron,” his office said in a statement.
The announcement of his visit, scheduled to last two days, came amid a recent, worrying spike in Israeli-Palestinian violence.
Macron on Sunday urged Israelis and Palestinians to "avoid measures that could fuel the spiral of violence,” as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Jerusalem on Monday to discuss steps for de-escalation. (Read more)

4. Two Armed Men Cross From Syria Into Israeli Territory, IDF Troops Open Fire - Algemeiner
Two armed men were spotted crossing from Syria into Israel on Sunday morning, in the southern Golan Heights, the Israeli military said.
Israeli soldiers opened fire after arriving on the scene, identified a hit, and provided initial medical treatment to one of the individuals. According to Hebrew media reports, one of the armed men ultimately died of injuries sustained to the lower body, while the second was wounded but managed to retreat back into Syrian territory.
Israeli military officials from Northern Command believe the men sought to carry out an attack, the Hebrew-language Walla! outlet reported. It is thought that Hezbollah, a US-designated terrorist group that operates with heavy Iranian support, is linked to the incident, which is still being investigated, according to an unnamed Israeli military source cited by the news portal. 5.Israeli father and son shot in second Jerusalem terrorist attack in 24 hours - JNS
(January 28, 2023 / JNS) A Palestinian terrorist shot an Israeli father and son near the entrance to the City of David National Park adjacent to Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday morning, a day after a deadly shooting rampage at a synagogue elsewhere in the Israeli capital.
Police said the attacker, a 13-year-old from the nearby Silwan/Shiloach neighborhood, was shot and neutralized by armed civilians.
The Kan public broadcaster identified the terrorist as Muhammad Aliyat.
The Magen David Adom emergency medical service said the victims were treated at the scene for gunshot wounds to the upper body and then taken to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious but stable condition. The father’s condition subsequently improved to moderate. (Read more)

1. Jackson, Mississippi, preparing to go without water periodically for up to 10 years as crisis continues | Fox News
Organizations in Jackson, Mississippi, are asking for help from other states as the water crisis dries up resources.
It’s been over five months since the Pearl River crested and Jackson, Mississippi’s water system failed. Now, crews are working to replace the pipe system, but families and businesses are prepared to go without water periodically, for up to 10 years.
Cities across the country are replacing fragile water pipe systems. Besides Jackson, there's Flint, Michigan, Baltimore, Maryland, and Houston, Texas.
The systems are replaced section-by-section after failure. But, these years-long projects can cause water main breaks.
_Father, water is a critical issue for many cities. We pray that Your Spirit will release healing to the waters.

2. Service members forced to pay back signing bonuses after being fired over COVID vax: ‘Kick in the face’ | Fox News
U.S. service members who were fired for refusing to comply with the Pentagon's COVID-19 vaccine mandate are now being forced to pay back their original recruitment bonuses, which they tell Fox News Digital is a "kick in the face" after years of dedicating their lives to protecting the country.
One former Army soldier who was fired for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine last May told Fox News Digital that he would have to pay back his original signing bonus upon his termination from the military because he did not complete the commitment in his contract.
The soldier had signed a contract with the Army for six years and received a $7,000 bonus. However, because he fell short of the six years, the military notified him that he owed the government a prorated amount of slightly over $4,000. In order to pay it back, he ended up having to "sell" 60 of his unused vacation days to cover the amount owed.
He said that effects on his mental health have been extremely negative because the way he was treated by the military was a "final kick in the face."
-Lord, we pray that You will stop this plan from going forward. We ask You to “reverse the curse” for these men and women who refused the Covid shot. Bring life and hope going forward, rather than retribution from the military.

3. Ilhan Omar: I Wasn't Aware There Were Tropes About Jews, Money (breitbart.com)
Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she was unaware of antisemitic tropes about Jewish people and money.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “What Republicans are saying about you is that there is a pattern of antisemitic and other controversial statements that make you unfit to sit on, in your case, the House Foreign Affairs Committee. I’m told that Republicans presented a list in their meeting, in their private meeting this past week. Included in that list, you said that Israel hypnotized the world. You said Israel is an apartheid regime. You said that politicians with pro-Israel stances were all about the Benjamins, which you very notably apologized for, that you support the BDS movement, which a lot of people think is rooted in anti-semitism, compared the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban. I want to give you a chance to respond to all of that.”
Omar said, “I might have used words at time that I didn’t were trafficking in anti-semitism. When that was brought to my attention, I apologized. I owned up to it. That’s the kind of person that I am. I continue to work with my colleagues and my community to fight against anti-semitism.”

4.Pro-Prostitution Bills Might Worsen Human Trafficking, Advocates Say, But One Argues It May Be Part Of The Solution | The Daily Caller
The California legislature has made headlines for passing several pro-prostitution bills over the last couple of years, many from Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener and some anti-human trafficking advocates have raised concerns that the state’s growing tolerance of prostitution will worsen sexual slavery, but one says it might be the solution.
In 2019, California Senator Scott Wiener introduced a bill, that eventually passed, prohibiting police from using condoms as evidence when investigating crimes involving prostitution, in 2020, Wiener got another bill passed that allowed minors to consent to sodomy with other minors, and in 2022 California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law Wiener’s Senate Bill 357, that decriminalized loitering for the purpose of prostitution. Several anti-human trafficking and sex worker advocates that spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation had strong feelings about the bills and some worried that the consistent push by legislators like Wiener to legalize prostitution would actually result in a dangerous increase in human trafficking.
Anti-human trafficking groups have witnessed prostitution — and subsequently, human trafficking – skyrocket in California, after Wiener’s latest bill, according to City Journal. Los Angeles police officer Stephanie Powell explained that since Senate Bill 357 the number of prostitutes in some areas of the city has doubled from 30 girls on a street to 60-65.
- Lord, we pray that You would release repentance and forgiveness for this situation being promoted by California. Sin is lawlessness, and making it legal in the state will reap destruction even more than they are experiencing now.

5. Top Chinese Nuclear Research Lab Bought US Chips Despite Export Ban: REPORT | The Daily Caller
China’s top nuclear weapons research institute managed to obtain American-made semiconductors despite export rules banning the transfer of U.S. technology to organizations associated with the Chinese military, The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday.
The China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP), which developed China’s first hydrogen bomb, has purchased American chips at least 12 times in the past two and a half years, the WSJ reported, citing procurement documents seen by the outlet. Although the U.S. blacklisted the academy in 1997, it has circumvented U.S. sanctions by obtaining the advanced chips from third-party sellers, according to the WSJ.
Companies including Intel and Nvidia manufacture the semiconductors in question, which have broad applications in datacenters and personal computers, according to the WSJ. CAEP acquired the chips through the purchase of computer systems used to study computational fluid dynamics, a field of research that involves modeling nuclear explosions.
_Lord, this purchase is in direct violation of US sanctions, and may carry a deadly purpose. We ask for Your protection against any nefarious plan of the Chinese government.

6. Biden Admin’s New Border Policy Using Parole ‘Loophole’ To astrFack Migrants Into The US | The Daily Caller
The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) program to allow migrants into the country that would otherwise be expelled if they crossed illegally isn’t the success the Biden administration claims it to be, according to former senior officials who spoke with the Daily Caller News Foundation.
President Joe Biden announced Jan. 5 the expansion of Title 42, a Trump-era order used to expel certain illegal migrants to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, to include Venezuelans, Cubans, Nicaraguans and Haitians. The plan allows for 30,000 migrants of those nationalities to enter the country using parole authority, permitting them to stay in the country for a period of two years so long as they have a sponsor, and permits migrants that would otherwise be expelled under Title 42 to use CBP One, a mobile application, to book an appointment at a port of entry to quickly enter the country.
“These expanded border enforcement measures are working,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement Wednesday. “It is incomprehensible that some states who stand to benefit from these highly effective enforcement measures are seeking to block them and cause more irregular migration at our southern border.”

7. CNN Grills Adam Schiff Over False Impeachment Claims: ‘In Fact, That Turned Out Not To Be True’ | The Daily Wire
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who was recently booted off the House Intelligence Committee, faced scrutiny during an interview on Sunday over past examples of him allegedly politicizing intelligence information for partisan gain.
Schiff made the remarks during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Dana Bash while talking about losing his spot on the committee.
“You said that there was direct evidence of the fact that Donald Trump colluded with Russia back in 2016. Special counsel Robert Mueller said in his report — quote — ‘The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government,'” Bash said. “Republicans argue that’s proof that you used your position the Intelligence Committee to intentionally mislead Americans, which is why you should not be on that committee.”
Schiff claimed that the report did not say that and that the report revealed that then-candidate Donald Trump’s campaign manager shared internal campaign polling data with a Russian agent. “To most Americans, that is collusion,” he claimed. “Now, whether it’s proof beyond a reasonable doubt of the crime of conspiracy — that’s what Bob Mueller was talking about — I have always distinguished between the two.”
Bash responded by highlighting another example that Republicans point to when they mention the problems that they have with Schiff being on the Intelligence Committee.

8. Speaker McCarthy: Cuts to Social Security, Medicare Are ‘Off the Table’ (theepochtimes.com)
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Sunday confirmed that the GOP will not attempt to pass legislation cutting spending to Medicare and Social Security following warnings from other prominent Republican leaders.
In an interview with CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” McCarthy was asked about whether Republicans will float cuts to the two programs amid negotiations over the debt ceiling. “No. Let’s take those off the table,” he said in response.
“I mean, if you read our commitment to America, all we talk about is strengthening Medicare and Social Security. So, and I know the president says he doesn’t want to look at it, but we’ve got to make sure we strengthen those,” McCarthy added.
However, McCarthy indicated that other federal agencies and programs could be under the microscope in the coming days and weeks.
“What I want to look at is they’ve increased spending by 30 percent, $400 billion in four years. When you look at what they have done, adding $10 trillion of debt for the next ten years in the short time period, if you just look a month ago, they went through and they never even passed a bill through appropriations in the Senate,” the speaker said, referring to congressional Democrats.

9. Adam Schiff Hit With Ethics Complaint Over Opening Senate Campaign Ad (theepochtimes.com)
The campaign video Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released to announce his 2024 Senate campaign became the subject of an ethics complaint within a single day.
On Thursday, Schiff announced he is running to replace Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) in the Senate in 2024. By Friday, a nonprofit organization called the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) had filed an ethics complaint against Schiff’s very first Senate campaign ad.
In the ad, Schiff featured a variety of news clips from his time in office, including floor footage from his involvement in the February 2020 Senate impeachment trial against then-President Donald Trump.
Following the release of Schiff’s campaign video, FACT sent a complaint to the House Ethics Committee, asking it to “immediately investigate whether Representative Adam Schiff abused official resources for political purposes.”
FACT said the portion of Schiff’s campaign video that included the floor footage constitutes official resources.
“‘Official resources’ includes anything funded by taxpayers, such as a Member’s official website, social media accounts, and photographs and video from the House or Senate floor,” the complaint states.

10. Trump-Biden classified documents: DOJ tells senators it is working to satisfy demands without harming special counsel probes | CNN Politics
The Justice Department has told lawmakers on the Senate Intelligence Committee that it is working to satisfy their demands for information about classified documents found at properties of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump without harming ongoing special counsel investigations into both matters, according to a new letter obtained by CNN.
The DOJ letter, dated Saturday, responds to the committee’s August request for information about the documents recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence and follow-up inquiries by the panel about classified material found at the Penn Biden Center as well as Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, home.
“We are working with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to support the provision of information that will satisfy the Committee’s responsibilities without harming the ongoing Special Counsel investigations,” Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte wrote to Democratic Sen. Mark Warner and Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, the Intelligence panel’s top lawmakers.
“Although one of the Special Counsels was appointed only on January 12, prosecutors on both matters are actively working to enable sharing information with the Committee,” Uriarte said.

In May 2006—nearly 17 years ago—this is what I wrote in The Daily Jot: “Our nation is in trouble. Now that seems like an obvious statement, but even in its blatancy Americans seem more than willing to allow somebody else to deal with the situation. People point to the gas prices at the pumps and complain that it’s a good thing they have credit cards otherwise they would not be able to buy gas. They talk about immigration. On one hand, America needs to control her borders. On the other hand, the Mexicans that come across the border are hard workers, doing jobs nobody else likes, so shouldn’t they deserve some consideration?
“The homosexual political juggernaut is moving rapidly to teach their abomination as normal to our public school children and is trying so desperately to destroy the institution of marriage. Yet, I have hardly seen any massive demonstration to put an end to this assault on our children. Likewise, the political left has been allowed to establish a total lie as fact and teach it as a new religion to our children. Evolution replaces God as the Creator and even though the father of evolution himself, Charles Darwin, said that there was no scientific evidence to prove his theory, it is being taught in our public schools as fact with absolutely no disclaimer. One glance at the news headlines on any given day reveals America is a troubled nation. Scripture makes clear the issue is not with God, but with His people. As Americans have turned to Him in prayer and repentance in critical junctures in the past, there is an urgency to do the same now.
On February 1st, some of the nation’s most prominent, Bible-believing Christian organizations, along with national political leaders, will come together to pray and repent for our nation. We will hear biblical exhortations from Anne Graham Lotz, Carter Conlon, Andrew Brunson, and Jonathan Cahn.

NASA discovers gamma-ray eclipses in
special 'spider' star systems
|

Each system includes a pulsar, the superdense, rapidly rotating remnants of a star that exploded in a supernova.
NASA made a first-of-its-kind discovery with its Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, spotting the first gamma-ray eclipses from a special type of star system.
The agency shared the news with Nature Astronomy on Thursday after scientists researched a decade of observations from the telescope that can detect the most astonishing celestial events from gamma bursts to black holes.
Gamma-ray eclipses were observed from a special binary star system that is orbited by what is called a spider system. Binary systems are two stars that have a gravitational pull toward and rotate around each other.
A spider system includes the remnants of a star that exploded in a supernova, called a pulsar. This cosmic phenomenon has piqued the curiosity of astronomers due to their rhythmic flicker. Read More

School District Backs Down After Rejecting Young Girl's
'Jesus Loves Me' Face Mask

A Mendenhall, Mississippi school district has agreed to change a policy banning religious or political speech that barred a 3rd-grade student from wearing a face mask with the phrase "Jesus Loves Me" emblazoned across it to her elementary school.
As part of a settlement agreement ending a federal lawsuit, which Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed on behalf of the student Lydia Booth and her parents Matthew and Jennifer Booth in 2020, schools within the Simpson County School District will respect students' freedom of expression regardless of religious viewpoint.
In addition, the school district will retract its previous restriction on masks that have "political" or "religious" content and will allow Lydia to wear her "Jesus Loves Me" face mask to school if she chooses to do so.
"Public schools have no business discriminating against a 9-year-old for her religious expression," said ADF Legal Counsel Michael Ross. "Other students within the school district have freely worn masks with the logos of local sports teams or even the words 'Black Lives Matter.' Lydia deserves and will now have an equal opportunity to peacefully express her beliefs." Read More
