Special Counsel Robert Hur described President Biden as a "sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory," and said he would bring no criminal charges against the president after a months-long investigation into his improper retention of classified documents related to national security.
Hur's report was made public Thursday afternoon.
Hur has been investigating Biden’s improper retention of classified records since last year. Those records included classified documents about military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, among other records related to national security and foreign policy which Hur said implicated "sensitive intelligence sources and methods." - For this critical prayer request, we quote from the 25th Amendment of the United States Constitution, and we leave this matter in the hands of the Courts to decide.
Section 1
In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.
Section 2
Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.
Section 3
Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.
Section 4
Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Inside the Brewing Fed-State Showdown at the Texas Border

In a come and take it statement, Texas Governor Greg Abbot remains defiant in Texas’ Constitutional right to protect itself against an invasion. A humble city park on the Texas side of the Mexican border has taken the national stage in a showdown between Texas and the federal government.
The Texas National Guard seized Shelby Park on Jan. 10 and placed a wire gate at the entrance, blocking U.S. Border Patrol agents from entering. The 47-acre park, owned by the city of Eagle Pass, was being used as a staging area for Border Patrol agents under the direction of the Biden administration to process a wave of thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the Rio Grande in December.
Texas guard members were busy assembling more razor wire this week to place on anti-climb fencing soon to be mounted on shipping containers lining the river, despite a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision.For guardsmen and officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) who also occupy the park, the dramatic decrease in crossings is a sign that the deterrent is working—at least for now.
“We have to do something,” Rene Cordova, DPS staff sergeant and public information officer, said while guardsmen worked in the background at the park preparing razor wire barriers on Jan. 23. “Do you think they want to solve this problem?” he said. “There’s too much money.”

1. Israel backing off hostage talks unless Hamas drops ‘delusional’ demands — official - Times of Israel
Israel is working to pressure Hamas to withdraw its “delusional” terms for a potential hostage release deal, and is not about to offer new terms, an Israeli official told The Times of Israel on Thursday.
Hamas this week proposed a ceasefire plan that would see a four-and-a-half-month truce during which hostages would be freed in three stages, and which would lead to an end to the war, in response to a proposed outline sent last week by Qatari and Egyptian mediators and backed by the United States and Israel.
The deal would have seen Israeli troops withdraw from Gaza with the terror group still intact ruling the Strip, as well as the release of 1,500 prisoners from Israeli jails, a third of whom are serving life sentences. (Read more)

2. New IDF Draft Bill Draws Backlash from Across Israeli Political Spectrum - Algemeiner
The Knesset, Israel’s parliament, sought to introduce changes to military conscription law to increase the service duty of all reservists, eliciting fierce backlash from across the political spectrum. Opposition to the bill, introduced by Israel’s ruling Likud party, highlighted that the proposed law does not address the lack of recruitment of the ultra-Orthodox Jews in Israel, who generally are not drafted into the Israel Defense Force (IDF).
“Hundreds of IDF soldiers fell in the war. Thousands were injured,” said MK Hili Tropper, a member of War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz National Unity party. “And against the background of the intention to put another burden on the shoulders of the servants, the truth must be told: the fallen do not come from all sectors. Indeed, many in the ultra-Orthodox sector volunteer, study, pray in memory of the fallen, visit the wounded and that is blessed, but they do not share in the burden of the service. These things are not said to divide, God forbid, and it is absolutely not from hatred of ultra-Orthodox. It’s for the love of Israel,” he continued.
The new changes call for an extension of mandatory service from 32 months to three years, as well as increasing the age that reservists must serve. The bill does not, as mentioned, discuss the issue of ultra-Orthodox conscription, despite many calls prior to include it. (Read more)

3. Israeli officials contemplating exiling Hamas leaders for release of all the hostages - World Israel News
Israeli leaders are considering the idea of exiling Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar in exchange for the release of all hostages held by the terrorist group and an end to its governance of the territory.
Six Israeli officials and senior advisers confirmed to NBC News on Thursday that Jerusalem would be willing to allow the exit from Gaza of the mastermind of the Oct. 7 massacre.
Sinwar is believed to be hiding in the vast tunnel systems underneath Khan Yunis and Rafah, surrounded by hostages used as human shields.
In addition to Sinwar, Hamas “military wing” commander Mohammed Deif and four other top leaders of the terrorist group would be sent into exile. (Read more)

4. Thousands protest in favor of continued war to defeat Hamas - Jerusalem Post
Two to three thousand Israelis turned out near the Foreign Ministry on Thursday evening to demonstrate for a total defeat of the jihadi terrorist movement Hamas.
Alon Pel, who showed up with his family, told the Jerusalem Post “ I don’t feel too much energy. The government is going to achieve their goals and finish the war.”
Pel believes the public is convinced that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will keep his pledge to continue the battle until, as he said, “total victory” is secured. For Pel, the sanguine view of the government about ending Hamas’ existence helps to explain why the energy level was not potent. (Read more)

5. Death threat sent to Israeli coalition members, families - JNS
A group calling itself “The Israeli Avengers Organization” recently sent a letter threatening the lives of Knesset members and their families.
The letter holds the current government responsible for failing to prevent the Hamas massacre on Oct. 7, in which 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, were killed.
“We established the organization to exact a price and harm individual terrorists. Until Oct. 7, we did not see fit to act against coalition members. Unfortunately, we deceived ourselves. We will act personally against the current members. Their names won’t be forgotten,” the letter states. (Read more)

According to the New York Fed, total household debt in the United States increased by 212 billion dollars during the fourth quarter of 2023. It is now sitting at a grand total of 17.5 trillion dollars. I suppose the good news is that we aren’t 34 trillion dollars in debt like the federal government is. But 17.5 trillion dollars is still really bad, and it is far more than U.S. households can handle. Unsurprisingly, delinquency rates have started to spike, and I fully expect this trend to intensify in the months ahead.
Let’s start by taking a look at credit card debt. During the fourth quarter, it hit a brand new all-time record high of 1.13 trillion dollars. Americans are increasingly turning to their credit cards to cover everyday expenses, with debt hitting a new record high at the end of December, according to a New York Federal Reserve report published Tuesday.
In the three-month period from October to December, total credit card debt surged to $1.13 trillion, an increase of $50 billion, or 4.6% from the previous quarter, according to the report. It marks the highest level on record in Fed data dating back to 2003 and the ninth consecutive annual increase.
The average rate of interest on credit card balances is now way above 20 percent, and so it has been very foolish of us to run up so much credit card debt.

2. China Pre-Positioning Malware for Attacks on US Infrastructure During Conflict: CISA – The Epoch Times
The malware is designed to launch destructive cyber attacks that would jeopardize the physical safety of Americans and impede military readiness. China’s communist regime is pre-positioning malware in U.S. systems in preparation for a major conflict, according to the United States’ top cyber agency.
A Feb. 7 advisory released by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) seeks “to warn critical infrastructure organizations” about China’s attempts to infiltrate, disrupt, and destroy vital U.S. facilities.
“[Chinese] state-sponsored cyber actors are seeking to pre-position themselves on IT networks for disruptive or destructive cyberattacks against U.S. critical infrastructure in the event of a major crisis or conflict with the United States,” the advisory said.
The malware is devised “to launch destructive cyber-attacks that would jeopardize the physical safety of Americans and impede military readiness.”The stark warning follows congressional testimony by senior intelligence leaders last week, which revealed the United States had eradicated Chinese malware from more than 600 routers associated with critical U.S. infrastructure. 3. No Peace Talks With Israel Without a Two-State Solution, Saudi Arabia says – Jpost
In an unusual move, the Saudi Foreign Ministry late Tuesday night clarified that Israel must recognize a Palestinian state at the pre-1967 lines to normalize ties with Saudi Arabia.
The statement appeared to douse US President Joe Biden’s hope for a trilateral deal between Washington, Riyadh, and Jerusalem this year.
“The Kingdom has communicated its firm position to the US administration that there will be no diplomatic relations with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state is recognized on the 1967 border, with east Jerusalem as its capital,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said. (Read more)

4. Biden’s Two-State Solution to Reward Palestinian Terrorism, Destroy Israel – ProphecyNewsWatch.com
In the span of two days, both the US administration and the British government came out with similar statements that they are considering recognizing a Palestinian state. The statements send a message to the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group and other Palestinians that the Americans and British want to give them a prize for the October 7 attack on Israel in which 1,200 Israelis were murdered, decapitated, raped, tortured and burned alive.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has asked the State Department to conduct a review and present policy options on possible US and international recognition of a Palestinian state after the current Israel-Hamas war, the American Axios media outlet reported on January 31. According to the report:

While the Democratic Party, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton conspired to, but unsuccessfully, implicate 2016 Republican candidate for President Donald Trump and Russia in an election interference scheme (and spending millions in taxpayer dollars to prove nothing), there is even a bigger election interference occurring today. It is obvious that the Democrats have weaponized their court appointments and elected Democrat prosecutors to try to put Trump behind bars. But there is even a greater election interference taking place that has deeper pockets and far-reaching political ramifications. These are found in the World Economic Forum in general and China in particular.
A December 2023 report published by the Director of National Intelligence documented how China has an ongoing initiative to influence US elections against those who viewed as anti-China. The report said, “Peoples Republic of China (PRC) intelligence officers, diplomats, and other influence actors probably viewed some election influence activities as consistent with Beijing’s standing guidance to counter US politicians viewed as anti-China and to support others viewed as pro-China…Beijing almost certainly viewed the US midterm elections as an opportunity to portray the US democratic model as chaotic, ineffective, and unrepresentative, and frequently directed PRC messaging to highlight US divisions on social issues, such as abortion and gun control.” This sounds a lot like the Biden approach toward all his critics. 5 Missing Marines in California Crash Found Dead, Officials Say

Five Marines who went missing when a helicopter crashed in California this week have been found dead, officials said on Feb. 8.
“Five Marines with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing have been confirmed deceased following a CH-53E helicopter crash on Feb. 6, 2024,” the Marine Corps unit said in a statement. “Efforts to recover the remains of the Marines and equipment have begun and an investigation is underway.”
The identities of the Marines weren’t released, pending next-of-kin notifications.

“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the loss of five outstanding Marines from 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and the ‘Flying Tigers’ while conducting a training flight last night,” Maj. Gen. Michael J. Borgschulte, commanding general of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, said in a statement. “These pilots and crewmembers were serving a calling greater than self and were proud to do so. We will forever be grateful for their call to duty and selfless service. To the families of our fallen Marines, we send our deepest condolences and commit to ensuring your support and care during this incredibly difficult time.”
Capt. Stephanie Leguizamon, spokesperson for the wing, said she had little information beyond the statement.
“I do know that it’s cold ... I know that’s been a contentious issue” for searchers in reaching the crash site, she said.
President Joe Biden said in a statement that he and First Lady Jill Biden are “heartbroken” to learn of the Marines’ deaths.
“Our service members represent the very best of our nation—and these five Marines were no exception,” President Biden said. “As the Department of Defense continues to assess what occurred, we extend our deepest condolences to their families, their squadron, and the U.S. Marine Corps as we grieve the loss of five of our nation’s finest warriors.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Former President Trump said he is a "believer" in the United States and a "believer" in the Supreme Court after it heard arguments in Colorado’s effort to remove him from the 2024 ballot in the state.
Trump told reporters Thursday that it would be "tough" to rule against him based on his poll numbers, but maintained that he is "leaving it up to" the high court.
The U.S. Supreme Court appeared skeptical of Colorado's argument that Trump should be removed from the state ballot for "insurrection" related to the 2020 election and the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots.
The court is considering for the first time the meaning and reach of Section 3 of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which bars former officeholders who "engaged in insurrection" from holding public office again.
Trump has never been charged with inciting insurrection.
"I just finished watching the Supreme Court… It’s unfortunate that we have to go through a thing like that," Trump said during a news conference at Mar-a-Lago after oral arguments concluded. "I consider it to be more election interference by the Democrats – that’s what they’re doing."
Trump added that "the good news is, we’re leading virtually in every poll."
The former president and 2024 Republican frontrunner said he felt the Supreme Court’s proceeding Thursday was "a very beautiful process."
"I hope that democracy in this country will continue, because right now we have a very, very tough situation," Trump said. "And with all of the radical left ideas with the weaponization of politics, they weaponized it like it's never been weaponized before."
Trump said that "every single" case against him is "a phony hoax."
"It's a disgrace that this country, that they work together with the Justice Department and the White House and not supposed to do that," Trump said. "Every one of these cases you see comes out of the White House. It comes out of Biden. It's election interference, and it's really very sad." (Fox News) Read more here.

The Four Directions the Supreme Court Could Go in Trump Ballot Case

The Supreme Court is set to hear one of the most consequential cases in the nation’s history while considering complex legal questions that could affect the election. Oral argument will take place on Feb. 8 in Trump v. Anderson, which questions whether the Colorado Supreme Court erred in ruling that a post-Civil War constitutional provision disqualifies former President Donald Trump from appearing on the state’s ballot. Depending on their ruling, the justices could influence the presidential election in a way not seen since Bush v. Gore in 2000. In that case, the Supreme Court ruled that Florida’s decision to recount the 2000 presidential election ballots violated former President George W. Bush’s right to equal protection under the 14th Amendment.
Now, that same amendment is before the court but with a new set of justices (besides Justice Clarence Thomas), a provision tested much less in the courts than the equal protection clause, and an untold number of questions about its meaning.
One of the many amicus briefs submitted to the court was authored by several law scholars, including former Ohio Solicitor General Edward Foley. The authors warn that the current case is “more perilous” than the one the court faced in Bush v. Gore.
They worry that if the Supreme Court passes the buck to Congress rather than issuing a decisive opinion, it could lead to political violence. They speculated that Congress effectively invalidating Americans’ votes could lead to a scenario similar to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Feb. 8 (UPI) -- A volcano on Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula erupted for the third time in two months on Thursday.
Iceland's Meteorological Service said intense seismic activity was recorded northeast of Mt. Sylingarfell at 5:30 a.m. local time with a volcanic eruption taking place 30 minutes later.
Officials said the eruption happened near the same location as a previous eruption on Dec. 18.
The Meteorological Service said a two-mile crack formed on the surface northeast of the volcano.
Lava flow was moving westward and appeared to be lighter than the start of the December eruption which prompted an evacuation of Grindayik before the lava eventually flowed in a different direction, sparing the town.
The office said tephra, a foamy bubble-rich material, has been falling around Grindayik. The material is created when splinters of mercury cool quickly.
"Tephra is sharp as glass and thus should be carefully handled," it warned. "Windscreen wipers should not be used to remove tephra from vehicles as it will scratch the glass. Tephra should rather be blown or washed off with water of windows and similar surfaces." Read More

Mom Sues NY School District for Treating 12-Year-Old Daughter as a Boy Without Parental Consent

A New York woman is suing a local school district, alleging officials began treating her middle-school daughter as a boy without her knowledge or consent, and at the same time, hiding it from her. Attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a nonprofit religious rights law firm, are representing Jennifer Vitsaxaki. They filed a federal lawsuit Wednesday against the Skaneateles Central School District and the Skaneateles Central Schools' Board of Education for its employees' actions. According to the complaint, Vitsaxaki had contacted the school when her daughter began struggling with anxiety and depression. She repeatedly asked school employees if they had noticed anything troubling her daughter. She was repeatedly reassured her daughter was fine.
However, while school officials kept telling Vitsaxaki that there was nothing to report, a school counselor was regularly meeting with her daughter and other girls who were the victims of ongoing bullying. The school district reportedly began treating Vitsaxaki's daughter as if she were a boy, without telling her mother, just as it had done with several other girls in her grade, according to the lawsuit. ADF says the same counselor instructed school staff to treat Vitsaxaki's daughter as though she were a boy by referring to her with a boy's name and the third-person plural pronouns "they" and "them." Then, a school psychologist, who told school staff to keep their actions secret from the girl's mother, reportedly began meeting with her daughter regularly without her knowledge. Yet no one informed Mrs. Vitsaxaki that the School District had made any of these decisions and taken all of these actions toward her daughter, the complaint said. By socially transitioning Mrs. Vitsaxaki's daughter without her consent and by concealing vital information about her daughter's health and well-being, the district violated Mrs. Vitsaxaki's fundamental parental rights and her deeply held religious beliefs, the ADF said. The nonprofit law firm noted the U.S. Constitution protects her right as a parent to make decisions about the upbringing, education, and health care of her children. (CBN) Read More here.
