U.S. Vetoes Palestinian State at U.N.
|
|
The United States stopped the United Nations Security Council from granting the Palestinians full-fledged membership in the global organization of 193 member states. This vote does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood, but instead is an acknowledgment that it will only come from direct negotiations between the parties,” US Ambassador Robert Wood said after the vote.
The US was the only nation out of the 15-member UNSC to object to admitting Palestine as the 194th UN member state. Twelve UNSC nations, including France, approved the move. The United Kingdom and Switzerland abstained. The motion failed, however, because the US is one of five permanent UNSC members with veto power, such that its “no” vote blocks the motion. …
The Palestinian Authority pushed for full statehood recognition on Thursday, for the first time in 12 years, in a bid to maximize growing support among Western countries for unilateral Palestinian statehood in light of the Israel-Hamas war.
At the UNSC, Wood said there were “unresolved questions as to whether the applicant [the PA] meets the criteria to be considered a State. We have long called on the Palestinian Authority to undertake necessary reforms to help establish the attributes of readiness for statehood and note that Hamas – a terrorist organization – is currently exerting power and influence in Gaza, an integral part of the state envisioned in this resolution.” …
Palestinian Authority Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour pushed back at Wood, stating that UN membership for his people was an “investment in peace.”

Senate Sends FISA Reauthorization Bill To Biden’s Desk After Late Night Vote
|
|
The Senate passed a two-year extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which allows federal agents to obtain the online communications of foreign nationals without a warrant, late Friday night in a 60-34 vote.
The debate on the renewal of Section 702 pitted those who said it was essential to national security against those who were worried about the potential for Americans to be surveilled. Senators who voted in favor included 30 Republicans, 28 Democrats, and two independents, while 16 Republicans, 17 Democrats, and 1 independent voted against.
The measure was supported by both Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
“The stakes of such an outcome are grave,” McConnell said. “The authorities in question today have, quite literally, been the only defense against would-be national security disasters.”
Schumer said passage was necessary for American national security. “It wasn’t easy, people had many different views, but we all know one thing: letting FISA expire would have been dangerous. It’s an important part of our national security to stop acts of terror, drug trafficking, and violent extremism,” he said.

Horrific Scene Develops Outside Trump Trial Courthouse as Man Sets Himself on Fire
|
|
A man set himself on fire Friday across from the New York courtroom in which former President Donald Trump’s “hush money” trial is taking place.
The incident took place in a small barricaded park in Manhattan at about 1:30 p.m. according to the New York Post.
In a video posted to X, CNN legal analyst Laura Coates initially said there was an “active shooter” at the courthouse.
She then reported that “a man has emblazoned himself.”
“A man has now lit himself on fire in front of the courthouse in Manhattan,” Coates said.
“We are watching a man who is fully emblazoned in front of the courthouse today. We are watching multiple fires breaking out around his body and person. We have seen an arm that has been visible, that has been engulfed in total flames,” the CNN reporter said.
“There is chaos that is happening; people are wondering right now if people are in danger,” she said. (Fox News) Read more here.

Startling Stats Factsheet: Encounters of Chinese Nationals Surpass All Fiscal Year 2023 at the Southwest Border
|
|
Today, the House Committee on Homeland Security released its “ Startling Stats” factsheet detailing the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) border encounter numbers for March of Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. Last month marked the halfway point for the fiscal year and the third worst March in decades at the Southwest border (189,372). Read previous “Startling Stats” factsheets at homeland.house.gov/border-startling-stats.
So far in FY24, 24,376 Chinese nationals have been encountered at the Southwest border, 24,214 of them apprehended illegally crossing the border. Encounters of Chinese nationals in March 2024 increased over 8,000 percent compared to March 2021, and have surpassed all of last fiscal year––just six months into FY24. March also marked a historic high for encounters along the busiest sector of the northern border, the Swanton Sector, which saw a nearly 50-percent increase compared to the previous March, and more than a 2,000-percent increase compared to March of FY21. More than 1,000 Chinese nationals have crossed the northern border every month for the past five months.
The potential national security implications of this unprecedented influx are concerning, as a Chinese national in the U.S. illegally breached a military base in California and refused to leave on March 29. Unfortunately, reports from last year revealed Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ DHS had instructed Border Patrol agents to drastically reduce the number of vetting questions for Chinese nationals in order to more quickly process these aliens into the interior––potentially putting our homeland security at risk. According to Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez in her transcribed interview with the Committee in September 2023, in order to interview and process Chinese nationals, her sector “had to go through a translation service. That translation service took about six to seven hours to interview a Chinese national. So that was very tasking on our end.” (WND) Read more here.

1. Israel Strikes Radar, Missile System Near to Natanz Nuclear Plant - Jewish Press
Israel sent an explicit message to Iran early Friday (April 19 IT), firing three missiles at an S-300 surface-to-air missile and radar system parked next door to the Natanz Nuclear Complex at the Artesh Air Base in the city of Isfahan, in Isfahan province. There are reports that Israel used IMI’s supersonic Rampagemissile for the attack.
It was clearly an exquisitely surgical strike, illustrating that had they wanted to, Israeli pilots could have just as easily hit the nuclear plant — but chose not to, and that Iran can’t defend itself against it.
The attack came as retaliation for April 14 over-the-top Iranian attack on Israel last weekend that including some 350 explosive suicide drones, cruise missiles and long-range “Emad” ballistic missiles. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu’s office hosts emergency talks on feared ICC warrants for PM, ministers - Times of Israel
Israel is increasingly worried by the prospect of the International Criminal Court in The Hague issuing arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli political and military leaders for alleged breaches of international law in Gaza, Israeli television reported Thursday.
According to Channel 12 news, three ministers and several government legal experts held an “emergency discussion” at the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday about how to fend off the potential warrants.
The meeting was convened after Jerusalem received messages indicating that such warrants could be issued in the near future, the report said, without citing any sources. (Read more)

3. Netanyahu: Hamas to face ‘painful blows’ in the coming days - JNS
Israel will inflict “painful blows” on Hamas in the coming days in an attempt to free the remaining 133 hostages held by the terrorist group in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.
“Why is this night different, citizens of Israel? That on this night, 133 of our dear brothers and sisters are not at the Seder table and are still held captive in the inferno of Hamas,” Netanyahu said in his Passover remarks.
“We have already freed 124 of our hostages and we are committed to returning them all home—the living and the fallen,” continued the premier.
“And what is not different about this night? In every generation, they rise up to destroy us, but the Holy One, Blessed be He, delivers us from their hands,” he said, adding: “This time, too, we will overcome those who seek our lives, thanks to our faith, the courage of our soldiers and our unity.” (Read more)

4. Netanyahu: Absurd for US to sanction IDF soldiers as they fight terror - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out at the United States for itsplans to issue its first-ever sanctions against IDF units over alleged human rights violations, starting with the Netzah Yehuda Battalion, which in the past has been accused of mistreating Palestinians.
Among the more high-profile incidents was the death of Palestinian American Omar As’ad, 80, of a heart attack in January 2022 after he had been detained, blindfolded, gagged, and handcuffed by that battalion in the West Bank.
“I will fight this with all my powers,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Israeli public on Sunday in a video address. (Read more)

5. After hosting Hamas leader, Erdogan encourages Palestinians to unite against Israel - Times of Israel
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday urged Palestinians to unite for “victory” amid Israel’s war in Gaza, following hours-long talks with Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Istanbul, his office said.
Erdogan, who has called Hamas a “liberation group” and Israel worse than the Nazis, has tried and failed to establish a foothold as a mediator in the Gaza conflict that has roiled the region.
Erdogan said Palestinian unity was “vital” following the talks at the Dolmabahce Palace on the banks of the Bosphorus strait, which Turkish media reports said lasted more than two and a half hours. (Read more)

1: NY AG Letitia James asks judge to void Trump's $175M bond in civil fraud case - Fox
New York Attorney General Letitia James is pushing the judge in former President Donald Trump's civil fraud case to void the $175 million bond that Trump previously posted to appeal his New York civil lawsuit.
In her 26-page filing obtained by Fox News Digital, James questions whether the insurance company has sufficient funds to back it up.
Trump’s bond was posted by California-based Knight Specialty Insurance Company (KSIC), but James argued that the insurer was "not authorized" to write business in New York, stating it is a small insurer that is not authorized to write business in New York and is not regulated by the state’s insurance department, had never before written a surety bond in New York or in the prior two years in any other jurisdiction, and has a total policyholder surplus of just $138 million.
The company has a total policyholder surplus of just $138 million, the filing states. According to New York state law, smaller businesses like KSIC are not permitted to expose themselves to liabilities, like a bond, or any potential loss greater than 10 percent of their surplus. (Read more)

2: While NYC Dumps Resources Into 'Getting' Trump, Rat-Borne Disease Explodes Amid Squalid City Conditions- Western Journal
Like reading a news story about a person getting scurvy, hearing about a modern metropolis getting beset by rat-borne illnesses almost seems like getting thrown back in time to the Dark Ages.
But, no, this time it was not a problem afflicting an impoverished medieval village, but rather one of the largest cities in the entire developed world: New York City.
While the city has been allocating resources toward prosecuting former President Donald Trump for the crime of winning the 2016 election, it has descended further and further into a state of squalor.
As reported Wednesday by CBS News, not only have rats in New York become ubiquitous in the worst way possible, but levels of rat-related sicknesses have reached their highest annual rate last year.
The New York City Health Department has been warning the populace of the increasing cases of a disease spread by contact with rat urine. (Read more)
- Father, we ask that You help New Yorkers re-evaluate their priorities to address this scourge. Rats are notoriously difficult to eradicate, but so are the diseases they carry. Help the people see the truth.

3: Biden Administration Announces Anti-Oil Restrictions on 13 Million Acres of Alaskan Petroleum Land- Breitbart
The Biden administration has announced restrictions on oil and gas leasing on more than 13 million acres of an Alaskan petroleum reserve to conserve land valuable to the “Alaska Native people” and “important fish and wildlife,” as Republican lawmakers protest the “illegal” move.
The U.S. Department of the Interior, led by Biden appointee Secretary Deb Haaland, celebrated the restrictions on Friday, saying, “These steps follow President Biden’s actions to protect millions of acres of lands and waters in the Arctic.”
“Following significant engagement with the public, Alaska Native Tribes, and Alaska Native Corporations, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) finalized the Management and Protection of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A) rule that will ensure maximum protection for significant resource values on the more than 13 million acres of Special Areas in the western Arctic, while supporting subsistence uses and needs for Alaska Native communities,” the federal agency stated.
The new rules won’t impact current leases on the NPR-A, which is owned by the federal government. Projects that have already been authorized, including the controversial Willow Project, will still be able to occur. (Read more)

4: House of Prayer, Accused of Bilking Veterans Out of Millions, Said to Be Stonewalling Investigation- Military.com
Federal prosecutors say a church accused of scamming veterans out of millions of dollars’ worth of benefits is stalling an investigation and should be held in contempt of court and fined.
House of Prayer, which has locations across Georgia, Texas, North Carolina and Washington state, has effectively ignored demands to produce documentation, prosecutors said in an April 4 court filing, as part of an investigation into what could be one of the largest scams targeting the military community ever.
A Military.com investigation found that the church allegedly used a complex scheme for nearly 20 years to bilk millions of dollars from veterans' military paychecks and disability pay, as well as use their GI Bill and Department of Veterans Affairs home loans to generate revenue for the church -- whose leadership lived lavish lifestyles.
The FBI raided House of Prayer locations -- all located near significant Army bases -- in June 2022. There were no arrests. (Read more)

5: Panamerican Health Officials: ‘Breakbone’ Dengue Fever Cases Reach Emergency Levels- Breitbart
Cases of dengue fever topped 5.2 million in 2024 across the Americas this week, and a United Nations health agency is calling it an “emergency situation.”
Jarbas Barbosa, director of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), confirmed the shockingly high numbers at a press briefing Thursday, the Daily Mail reported.
There has been a nearly 50 percent increase in cases from the already staggering 3.5 million cases recorded as of last month.
“We are in an emergency situation because of dengue,” Barbosa told reporters.
Over 1,800 people have died across the Americas from the mosquito-borne disease, a jump from the approximately 1,000 deaths “reported last month in the year through March.”
While saying that “there seems to be a stabilization, or even a reduction” in the number of cases in certain countries, the health director reported that South American countries like Argentina and Brazil “still have a very strong transmission.” (Read more)

6: US To Remove Military Personnel From Niger- Daily Caller
The U.S. agreed Friday to withdraw its troops from Niger, The Washington Post reported.
U.S. has agreed to remove military personnel from Niger as confirmed by three U.S. officials, according to The Washington Post. This development follows a request from Niger’s government, which came after a military coup in 2023 that saw a junta come to power and declare the U.S. military presence “illegal.”
In a meeting between Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell and Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine, the U.S. agreed to withdraw over 1,000 troops, casting uncertainty over the future of a $110 million American air base. Officials will soon begin planning the withdrawal, aiming for an orderly and responsible exit, which will require coordination with the Defense Department, the outlet reported.
“The Prime Minister has asked us to withdraw U.S. troops, and we have agreed to do that,” a senior State Department official told The Washington Post in an interview.
“We’ve agreed to begin conversations within days about how to develop a plan,” a senior State Department official said, according to The Washington Post. “They’ve agreed that we do it in an orderly and responsible way. And we will need to probably dispatch folks to Niamey to sit down and hash it out. And that of course will be a Defense Department project.”
The halt of security cooperation and U.S. military activities, including drone flights, has left American forces in limbo. Niger’s new partnership with Russia, marked by the arrival of Russian military instructors in Niamey to train and equip local forces with systems like air defense, has deepened the diplomatic stalemate, The Washington Post reported. 7: ‘Disastrous Foreign Policy’: Biden Admin Funded Both Sides Of Growing Israel-Iran Faceoff – Daily Caller
The Biden administration has been a major benefactor for Israel and Iran, two countries that have launched direct attacks against each other in recent weeks.
Israel launched a series of strikes against targets near central Iran Friday morning local time, in retaliation for Iran’s missile and drone attack against Israel days prior, which was largely unsuccessful. Israel has received billions in military aid from the Biden administration both before and after Oct. 7 — the day Hamas invaded the country and killed nearly 1,200 people — but Iran has also financially and militarily benefitted from the Biden administration’s policies prior to its direct conflict with Israel.
Israel has received over 100 military aid packages from the U.S. since Oct. 7, though only two crossed a value threshold that required public notification, which totaled roughly $250 million. This includes artillery shells, rockets, bombs and precision munitions; the Biden administration is asking for an additional $14.3 billion in aid for Israel from Congress as part of a larger supplemental request for aid to Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific.
Military aid to Israel may be in jeopardy, however, as the Biden administration has warned that its policies will change if Israel does not change its strategy against Hamas in Gaza. (Read more)

8: Ilhan Omar Is ‘Enormously Proud’ Of Daughter Who Was Arrested At Anti-Israel Protest – Daily Wire
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said Friday that she was “enormously proud” of her daughter, Isra Hirsi, who was arrested Thursday while participating in an anti-Israel protest at Columbia University.
“I am enormously proud of my daughter @israhirsi,” Omar posted on X. “She has always led with courage and compassion, from organizing a statewide school walk out on the 20th anniversary of Columbine at the age of 15, to leading the biggest youth climate rally at our nation’s Capitol at 16, and now pushing her school to stand against genocide. Stepping up to change what you can’t tolerate is why we as a country have the right to speech, assembly, and petition enshrined in our constitution.”

Democrats look to strip Secret Service protection from Trump if he's convicted
|

House Democrats have introduced a bill that would strip Secret Service protection from convicted felons sentenced to prison, a move directly targeting former President Trump who is currently on criminal trial in New York City for alleged hush money payments made during the 2016 election campaign and faces several other cases which could land him behind bars.
Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the former chair of the now disbanded Jan. 6 congressional committee, introduced legislation that would automatically nix Secret Service protection for those who have been convicted of a federal or state felony that carries a minimum one-year prison term.
The proposed bill is provocatively called the "Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act.
"Unfortunately, current law doesn’t anticipate how Secret Service protection would impact the felony prison sentence of a protectee—even a former President," Thompson said in a statement.

We call for Your protection for this man against all the spirits and evil arrayed against him. We also ask for healing for his heart and mind after so many attacks.

Many good citizens are fighting the fight against the World Health Organization (WHO) treaty which would empower WHO to dictate worldwide responses to pandemics. They are standing against the so-called “intellects” who didn’t learn from the COVID pandemic that their very actions most likely caused the deaths of millions of people worldwide—forbidding treatments that were effective; mandating treatments that resulted in death; lying about effectiveness and safety of experimental vaccines; tracking people that declined vaccines; censoring dissent; controlling travel; quarantining the healthy—But Joe Biden has already implemented the WHO treaty in his recently announced Global Health Strategy.
His strategy, announced April 16, codifies a disastrous US health policy that paid bounties to hospitals for COVID deaths and experimental mRNA vaccines. In the wake of the government-mandated response, countless studies are showing that the global forced-vaccination under fear-mongering is leading to a huge spike in cancer deaths of the vaccinated; heart disease; even early or untimely deaths of young people. It’s a true crime committed by governments against the governed. Yet nobody is held accountable. Common sense, folks. Discernment, people. We cannot afford to have a coordinated global government-mandated response to another pandemic. It goes against self-preservation. Yet these arrogant tyrants are continuing to project their brand of science (political science) onto the global society.
Whether or not Biden gets his WHO treaty (which the Senate should have to approve according to our constitution, but these politicians have changed the meaning of words so they don’t have to abide by the law), the US government will still yield to WHO. Biden’s Global Health Strategy fact sheet states, “The United States, together with its international partners, will enhance the prevention, detection, preparation for and response to infectious disease threats, whether naturally occurring, accidental, or deliberate in origin, across sectors at home and abroad in order for our collective efforts to be more efficient, effective, sustainable, and equitable.” In his detailed Global Health Strategy, he is implementing the WHO treaty even before it is signed.
The strategy includes submitting to international legal frameworks like the Paris Agreement and the “anticipated Pandemic Accord”; international organizations management of responses; “Surveillance and Early Warning Systems”; and WHO “leadership, guidance, and resources.” Biden is giving away national sovereignty whether or not there is a treaty with WHO. He has done it by executive action. Remember vaccine passports as part of Surveillance that track your every move? Biden is leading this tyrannical effort and submitting US sovereignty to a global health cabal. The is the WHO treaty already built into US policy. Proverbs 29:2 says “When the wicked bear rule, the people mourn.” Biden’s Marxist approach to health will cause many to mourn and it is worse than, say it with me…Stupidocrisy.

Indonesia volcano: thousands evacuated amid spreading ash and tsunami fears

More than 11,000 people told to leave their homes after Mount Ruang erupted at least three times since Friday afternoon
More than 2,100 people living near an erupting volcano on Indonesia’s Sulawesi island were evacuated on Friday due to the dangers of ash, falling rocks, hot volcanic clouds and the possibility of a tsunami.
Indonesia’s volcanology centre recorded at least three eruptions since Friday afternoon, with the maximum height of the eruption column reaching 1,200 metres (3,900 ft).
An international airport in Manado city, less than 100km (60 miles) from the erupting Mount Ruang, remained temporarily closed as volcanic ash was spewed into the air.
Satellite imagery from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency showed the ash had spread to the west, north-west, north-east and south-east, covering Manado and North Minahasa, according to a statement from Indonesia’s transportation ministry.
“We are still monitoring developments in the eruption of Mount Ruang and coordinating with relevant stakeholders … to anticipate the necessary actions to ensure flight safety, security and comfort,” said Ambar Suryoko, head of the regional airport authority.
More than 11,000 people were told to leave their homes located in the affected area. A joint team from the local authorities combed the villages surrounding the volcano and evacuated residents to safer areas by boat. Read More

Couple Chooses Life for Disabled Baby Despite Pressure to Have Abortion

Like many young married couples, Kansas residents Roy and Emily Schmeidler were excited to learn about Emily’s pregnancy, their first child. However, at the 20-week ultrasound, their excitement turned to fear and uncertainty. They courageously chose life for their child despite doctors’ recommendations for abortion. “My husband and I were blessed to get pregnant, and at our 20-week ultrasound we got some pretty devastating news,” Emily recently told Pregnancy Help News. The baby had a cyst on her brain and one arm appeared to be shorter than the other with the possibility of missing bones. Additionally, the medical team said they couldn’t tell if the baby had all her fingers. The cyst could be an indication of various difficulties, including intellectual disabilities. “She was incredibly small,” Emily recalled. “She was in the fourth percentile of growth.”
The doctor was concerned about the possibility of the baby dying in utero or within the first year of her life. He asked Emily and her husband to consider abortion. They declined and the doctor referred them to a large children’s hospital in the area for further testing. “The news was shocking,” Emily said, “but my composure was like, ‘I have to keep it together,’ but it was really hard. I wanted to just burst out crying.” She and her husband returned to their car, absorbing the news together. “My husband and I left that doctor’s office and just wept together in the car,” Emily said. “You never think it’s going to happen to you and then it just does, out of the blue with your first child. All we knew what to do in that moment was to pray. It started a really hard road and journey for us.” Upon transferring care to a different medical team, Emily underwent additional ultrasounds and a heart echocardiogram. “Oftentimes if there’s something wrong with both arms, there’s a 99 percent chance the baby is going to have some pretty severe heart problems,” she explained. Just wanted you to know there are probably other people besides myself trying to sign this as we look on the link in the email. Immediately upon typing in my name, before I can sign it, a banner comes up saying SOMETHING WENT WRONG, and the link closes without being able to actually sign. I wasn't even able to put in my address.
This this has been happening a number of times in the last month as I try to sign things, whether from Capitol Hill Prayer Partners or Intercessors for America.
I typically try over and over and over and the same banner comes up preventing signing anything or when it comes to contacting officials on various issues, it always closes saying SOMETHING WENT WRONG.
