TODAY'S TOP STORY:
‘I’m sick to my stomach’: Pentagon officials shocked by intel leaks
|
|
|
Pentagon officials are reeling from the leak of highly classified military plans on the war in Ukraine that surfaced last week — alarmed by both the sensitivity and sheer amount of information exposed.
The U.S. government is scrambling to determine the source of the most significant breach of U.S. intelligence in a decade after the tranche of more than 100 documents surfaced on social media. The documents contain information so sensitive that only people with the highest levels of security clearance in the U.S. government can access them.
The breach raises new questions about what steps the U.S. government is taking to protect sensitive information and particularly the implications for Ukraine’s fight against Russia. The bulk of the documents appear to be slides developed by the Pentagon’s Joint Staff to brief senior leaders on the conflict in Ukraine, but they also include information on a range of topics, from U.S. efforts to spy on South Korea to Turkish cooperation with Israel.
Inside the Defense Department, officials described feelings of shock and distress as the scope of the leak emerged over the weekend.
“The mood is anger,” said one DoD official, who like others quoted for this story was granted anonymity to discuss internal reactions to the leak. “It’s a massive betrayal.”
“I’m sick to my stomach,” said a second DoD official.
The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the breach, and the Pentagon is leading an interagency effort to determine the impact on national security. DoD is also now reviewing its processes for handling classified information, including how the information is distributed and to whom, Pentagon press secretary Chris Meagher told reporters Monday. (POLITICO) Please read more about this serious breach here.

- Father God, we ask that You move quickly to cause our authorities in the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice to identify the traitor that caused this leak and to put him behind bars! We simply cannot tolerate this behavior; it must be judged and judged quickly!
We pray, too, for our own allies whose classified intelligence has no doubt also been
compromised. We ask that any breach of trust between us be set aside, to so that the United States can continue in its role as a world leader.
We thank You, O Lord, for hearing our prayer, and for protecting our people. In Your Name, amen and amen!

Louisville police say 5 dead after suspect linked to Old National Bank location opens fire in Kentucky

Gunman in Louisville attack has died after engaging in 'shootout' with police
|
|
Authorities in Louisville, Kentucky identified the suspect deceased gunman accused of killing five people inside a building that houses an Old National Bank location as Connor Sturgeon, a former employee.
The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. and officers that responded within minutes encountered the suspect, who was still firing shots, according to Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel.
Sturgeon, 23, who live-streamed the deadly event, was armed with a rifle and killed by police, she said. "This shouldn’t continue to happen," said Gwinn-Villaroel. "Evil cannot take over our city."
The victims killed Monday were identified as Tommy Elliott, 63; Joshua Barrick, 40; Jim Tutt, 64 and 45-year-old Juliana Farmer. All were bank employees. Elliott was a dear friend to Gov. Andy Beshear. "He helped me build my law career," Beshear said during an afternoon news briefing. "Help me become governor. Gave me advice on being a good dad."
The University of Louisville Hospital told Fox News that it received nine patients following the shooting, three of which have since been discharged.
The officer injured was identified as Nickolas Wilt, who underwent brain surgery after he was shot in the head. He graduated from the police academy on March 31, the chief said. "The next few days ... are critical for his recovery," Gwinn-Villaroel said.

- O Holy One, once again, we are without words at the enormity of this tragedy. We thank You that Kentucky Gov . Beshear has asked for prayer for the victims, that their lives be spared; and for the families of those who have lost loved ones today.
As saints who know You and who trust in Your Word, we "go higher" than simply asking that laws be passed implementing gun control in our nation. Instead, we ask that Your warring angels would go forth to allow evidence to come to light before violence has a chance to erupt again. Come, Lord Jesus, Come. We thank You for Your armies, both on earth and in heaven, and we ask for Your will to be done on earth, in Jesus' name, amen and amen!

Biden Vetoes Bipartisan Attempt To Repeal EPA’s ‘Waters Of The United States’ Rule
|
|
President Joe Biden vetoed a bipartisan bill Thursday that would limit his administration’s broad interpretation of the “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) rule that grants the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) significant new authority.
The president rejected the bill, arguing that his administration’s new rule provides “clear rules of the road” to protect both economic efforts and water quality under the Clean Water Act, according to the veto. The rule dramatically expands the traditional limits of WOTUS — which allow the EPA to regulate navigable waters — to include all territorial seas, interstate waters, adjacent wetlands, traditional waters’ tributaries and some artificial reservoirs.
“The resolution would leave Americans without a clear definition of ‘Waters of the United States,'” Biden said in the veto. “The increased uncertainty caused by H.J. Res. 27 would threaten economic growth, including for agriculture, local economies, and downstream communities.” (Daily Caller) Read more

“In the last days, we worked together and stood together around the clock on all the fronts against the security challenges,” Netanyahu told reporters.
“There were disagreements between us, even difficult ones on certain topics, but I decided to leave them behind. Gallant will remain in his position and will continue to work tougher on behalf of the state of Israel,” he stated. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu: European leaders say one thing to me in private and another in public - World Israel News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that European leaders had positive things to say in private meetings held recently, while saying other things in public.
“When I meet the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, and Italy — which I did recently — what they tell me behind closed doors, as opposed to meetings when other people are there, reflects a completely different interaction,” he said in a televised speech Monday night.
Netanyahu cited two main topics that European leaders spoke about very differently in public and in private: the two-state solution, which, he said, “everyone has to [publicly] say they believe in,” and the judicial reform. (Read more)

1. New Medical Codes for COVID-19 Vaccination Status Used to Track People, CDC Confirms (theepochtimes.com)
Medical codes introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to show when people are unvaccinated or undervaccinated for COVID-19 are being used to track people, the top U.S. public health agency has confirmed.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) made the confirmation in emails that The Epoch Times obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
The CDC had said in documents and public statements that the goal of the new codes, in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) system, was “to track people who are not immunized or only partially immunized.”
The CDC now says it does not have access to the data, but that health care systems do.
- Lord, this egregious end-run around our freedom to choose must be stopped. We ask that You intervene to prevent this program from tracking Americans.

2 Democrats Expelled From Tennessee House by GOP Legislature, 3rd Spared by 1 Vote (theepochtimes.com)
After several hours of debate, two Tennessee Democrats were expelled from the Tennessee General Assembly by the Republican supermajority-controlled House of Representatives on Thursday.
The third state representative facing expulsion held her seat by a margin of only one vote on a historic day in the Tennessee legislature. The close vote came as a shock, as eight Republican lawmakers broke ranks to vote against the expulsion of Rep. Gloria Johnson of Knox County.
Resolutions to expel the members were introduced on April 3 after the lawmakers led protesters with a bullhorn in chants calling for tighter restrictions on gun rights while on the House floor. This came after the deadly Covenant School shooting in Nashville the week before.
The move to expel members is particularly rare in Tennessee, where only two other members have been expelled from the chamber since the Civil War. Those votes, however, were largely bipartisan, in stark contrast to the expulsion of two Democrats on party lines.
- Lord, we thank You for accountability for these lawmakers’ actions right after a tragedy. We pray for the truth, we pray for emotions to calm down, and that people will begin to exercise wisdom rather than simply run with an agenda.
- “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” (Proverbs 19:20)

3. EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Murphy, House Republicans Introduce Legislation To Protect Free Speech On College Campuses | The Daily Caller
Republican North Carolina Rep. Greg Murphy introduced two pieces of legislation Thursday aimed to protect free speech on college campuses and universities in the United States.
The Daily Caller first obtained the resolution condemning compelled speech on college campuses and the piece of legislation titled the Campus Free Speech Restoration Act. The first resolution condemns the practice of requiring the support of an ideology or political movement during the admissions or hiring process. The resolution targets public universities that could make students make a pledge regarding diversity, equity or inclusion.
In 2021, North Carolina State University included an essay question on applications saying the university is ‘committed to building a just and inclusive community’ and rejects ‘unjust or inhumane treatment’ and will denounce it ‘clearly and loudly.’ The school also told students to write a 250-word essay that describes “what those words mean to you and how you will contribute to a more diverse and inclusive environment,'” The Carolina Journal reported.
- Lord, our Bill of Rights from the Constitution is under attack in nearly all college campuses across the nation. We pray for a move of Your Spirit to bring freedom back for everyone whether in colleges or elsewhere.
- “Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.” (Matthew 3:8)

4. ‘They Will Try To Bully You’: NC Rep Details Why She Left Democratic Party | The Daily Caller
North Carolina Rep. Tricia Cotham officially joined the Republican Party April 5, telling reporters she made the switch because she perceived the current Democratic Party to be intolerant.
“The modern-day Democratic Party has become unrecognizable to me and to so many others throughout this state and this country,” Cotham stated during a Wednesday morning press conference. “The party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgement, has solutions and wants to get to work to better our state.”
“If you don’t do exactly what the Democrats want you to do, they will try to bully you. They will try to cast you aside,” she added.
- Lord, we thank You for helping Rep Cotham to make the right choices. The opposition threatened her, told her she couldn’t pray or wear what she wanted. We ask for Your protection and favor for her as she moves forward on a new journey.
- “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7b)

5. Republican Rep. Michael McCaul Makes Surprise Landing In Taiwan, Compares Xi Jinping To Hitler | The Daily Caller
House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Michael McCaul of Texas compared Chinese Communist Party chairman Xi Jinping to Adolf Hitler during a surprise visit to Taiwan.
McCaul is visiting the island democracy alongside Republican Reps. Young Kim of California, French Hill of Arkansas, Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania, Mike Lawler of New York, and Nathaniel Moran of Texas, as well as Democratic Reps. Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania and Ami Bera of California. The delegation, which was not previously announced, touched down on Wednesday.
“This struggle for global power, the balance of power that we find ourselves in today often reminds me of my father’s generation, often referred to as the greatest in the United States,” McCaul said in a speech delivered alongside Taiwan’s Vice President Lai Ching-te, Bloomberg reported.
- Thank You, Father, for this show of solidarity with the beleaguered nation of Taiwan. We bind any attempts at invasion by China, and pray for protection for all western countries from the revenge that China so quickly espouses.
- “Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly.” (Deut. 32:35)

6. Schumer, McConnell 'strongly condemn' WSJ reporter detention in Russia on 'fabricated charges' | Fox News
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell have joined a growing chorus calling for the release of U.S. citizen and Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich from Russia, arguing the charges against him are "baseless" and "fabricated."
Gershkovich, the newspaper's Moscow bureau reporter, was arrested on March 29 by the Russian government's Federal Security Service on charges of espionage on behalf of the United States.
The publication has vehemently denied these charges while several of Gershkovich’s colleagues have defended his integrity. President Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also have called for his release.
- Lord, we pray that You will visit this reporter and grant him strength and faith to endure whatever is coming. Let justice be Your hallmark in the situations of America unjustly imprisoned.

7. Jean-Pierre slammed for praising trans kids who 'fight back:' 'Stochastic terrorism from the White House' | Fox News
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre sparked outrage on Thursday after she praised "fierce" kids who are transgender for their ability to "fight back."
Less than two weeks after a transgender shooter killed children and faculty at a Christian school, Jean-Pierre was one of many leaders sharing fiery rhetoric in support of transgender ideology. She blasted legislation from Republicans aimed at stopping transgender medical procedures on minors, claiming it is merely "gender-affirming" health care.
Jean-Pierre described such legislation as "a dangerous attack on the rights of parents to make the best health care decisions for their own kids." She went on to declare, "LGBTQI+ kids are resilient. They are fierce. They fight back. They’re not going anywhere. And we have their back. This administration has their back."
- Lord, Karine Jean-Pierre and those who also work for the Biden administration are deceived and committing grievous actions. We pray for a move of repentance to change their hearts. If that move fails to change them, we pray for removal from their offices across the board.
- “For it is written in the Book of Psalms, “‘May his camp become desolate, and let there be no one to dwell in it’; and “‘Let another take his office.’ (Acts 1:20)

8. Noem warns Biden admin over proposed Title IX regulations for transgender athletes: 'We'll see you in court' | Fox News
South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem has vowed to fight back against the Biden administration's proposed set of Title IX rules to expand the meaning of sexual discrimination to include gender identity that would prevent schools and colleges from barring biologically male transgender athletes from competing on female sports teams.
Under the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed rule, no school or college that receives federal funding would be allowed to impose a "one-size-fits-all" policy that categorically bans transgender students from playing on sports teams consistent with their gender identity. Such policies would be considered a violation of Title IX.
"South Dakota will not allow this to stand. We will lead. We will defend our laws. Only girls will play girls’ sports," Noem wrote in a Thursday evening tweet.
- Father, this agenda to replace women in sports is completely illegal, deceptive, and evil. We ask that You protect the states that are attempting to stop the trend and bring righteous judges alongside them.
- “For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:14)

An Example Of Media Twisting The TruthFarm
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, April 10, 2023
Free speech and freedom of the press is Constitutionally protected as a lynchpin to a society free from tyranny. The press is supposed to be the fourth estate to hold government accountable. But when the press is used, willingly or forcefully, as a mouthpiece for the government, tyranny is not far behind. In today’s America, freedom of the press is governed by political partisanship and its power is the 24-7 news cycle as ingrained across all mediums. When the press trades its position of seeking the truth for speaking the lies, the public is left to discern between the two. Discernment is key in this day and age. The entire Trump saga is an example. The media is shaping the public opinion. Here is how.
In the hours leading up to the Trump arraignment, Jonathan Weisman and Andrew Higgins wrote in an April 4 New York Times article about how the right-wing finds a familiar villain in billionaire George Soros. They write: “Conspiracy theorists have long attributed wildly varied events to George Soros, in attacks often viewed as antisemitic. His indirect donations to a prosecutor’s campaign are animating Trump allies.” The article smugly points to the many accusations around the world that Soros has interfered with elections from “East Asia to Central Europe to the United States” and is cast as a “puppet master by conspiracy theorists” for his leftist influence. They snark that now Soros is credited with the indictment of Trump. Read More

Two conservative justices, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, dissented from the court’s refusal to remove the injunction.
West Virginia enacted the Save Women’s Sports Act in 2021, which prevents students from competing in school sports other than under their birth sex. (The Epoch Times)

Senate Votes to Repeal Iraq AUMF, Ending ‘Blank Check’ for Presidents to Bypass Congressional War Declarations
|
|
|
The U.S. Senate voted 66-30 Wednesday to repeal two Iraq-related war authorizations, with Republicans divided on the question amid stepped-up attacks on U.S. troops by Iranian proxies in the region.
All 30 “no” votes came from Republicans, while another 18 Republicans voted with Democrats in favor of repealing the 2002 authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) that paved the way for the invasion of Iraq 20 years ago, and the 1991 AUMF that authorized Operation Desert Storm.
Debate and a series of unsuccessful GOP amendments over the past week centered on the 2002 AUMF, and especially its use in countering malign Iranian activity in the region.
“Multiple administrations have relied on this authority to address the threat from Iran-backed Shi’a militias,” Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking member Jim Risch (R-Idaho) said before the vote.
Pointing to some of the most recent attacks by Iran-backed militias, including one on Thursday that killed an American contractor and wounded five U.S. service members in eastern Syria, Risch said the Biden administration’s attempts to deter Iran were clearly failing.
“Iran has long sought to eject the United States from Iraq. Iran and its proxies have attacked American troops and diplomats over 80 times just since President Biden took office, and with only a few U.S. responses. It’s clear that Iran doubts America’s resolve,” he said. “I stand here today to say to Iran: Have no doubts, we do have resolve.”
Repealing the 2002 AUMF now would send a “dangerous message at a poor time,” Risch contended. “It’s clear the region seen the Biden administration sitting on the sidelines. This repeal will only add fuel to the narrative that the U.S. is disengaging from the region, which we hear all the time.”
Risch concluded by saying he hopes to see the AUMF repealed in the future, “but now is not the time for it. The realities on the ground convince me I cannot support repeal at this time. We’ve got to deal with the world as it is.” (CNSNews.com) Read more here.

Federal judge in Texas suspends FDA approval of abortion pill mifepristone
|
|
|
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A federal judge in Texas on Friday ordered a hold on the U.S. approval of the abortion medication mifepristone, throwing into question access to the nation’s most common method of abortion in a ruling that waved aside decades of scientific approval.
The abortion drug has been widely used in the U.S. since 2000 and there is essentially no precedent for a lone judge overruling the medical decisions of the Food and Drug Administration. Mifepristone is one of two drugs used for medication abortion in the United States, along with misoprostol, which is used to treat other medical conditions.
U.S. District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk, a Trump appointee in Amarillo, Texas, signed an injunction directing the FDA to stay mifepristone’s approval while a lawsuit challenging the safety and approval of the drug continues. The immediate impact of the ruling was not clear, including how quickly access to the abortion pill might be curtailed.
Background (March 2023): Trump appointee in single-judge federal district in Texas could bar nationwide access to the abortifacient mifepristone
The judge didn’t go as far as the plaintiffs wanted by withdrawing or suspending the approvals of chemical abortion drugs and removing them from the list of approved drugs. But he put a “stay” or hold on approval of the drug. His ruling, however, doesn’t immediately go into effect, as he gives the federal government seven days to appeal
Federal lawyers representing the FDA are expected to swiftly appeal. (AP) Read more here.

Webb Reveals Never-Before-Seen Details in Cassiopeia A
|
|
The explosion of a star is a dramatic event, but the remains the star leaves behind can be even more dramatic. A new mid-infrared image from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope provides one stunning example. It shows the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A (Cas A), created by a stellar explosion 340 years ago from Earth’s perspective.. Cas A is the youngest known remnant from an exploding, massive star in our galaxy, which makes it a unique opportunity to learn more about how such supernovae occur.
“Cas A represents our best opportunity to look at the debris field of an exploded star and run a kind of stellar autopsy to understand what type of star was there beforehand and how that star exploded,” said Danny Milisavljevic of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, principal investigator of the Webb program that captured these observations.
“Compared to previous infrared images, we see incredible detail that we haven't been able to access before,” added Tea Temim of Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, a co-investigator on the program.
Cassiopeia A is a prototypical supernova remnant that has been widely studied by a number of ground-based and space-based observatories, including NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory. The multi-wavelength observations can be combined to provide scientists with a more comprehensive understanding of the remnant. Read More

On Good Friday years ago, NYC skyscrapers lit up with crosses and showed a nation that embraced faith
|
|
Faith leaders and ordinary Americans are stunned by a spectacular public display of Christian faith that lit up the skyscrapers of New York City on Good Friday in 1956 and resurfaced on social media this week. "It’s a very powerful image," Alex McFarland, president of McFarland Ministries in North Carolina, told Fox News Digital. "My heart was moved to think about that time when publicly and culturally we were not ashamed to invoke not only God, but invoke Jesus Christ."
The photo shows three Wall Street skyscrapers emblazoned with bright crosses — lights turned on inside each building to illuminate the image of the cherished Christian symbol against the darkness of unlit rooms and the night sky around them. Each cross measured 150 feet tall. The trio of towers with crosses appears to create the effect of Jesus crucified on Calvary on Good Friday beside two thieves, one who mocks the Savior, according to the Gospel of Luke, and the other who repents and asks to be taken into the Kingdom of Christ. It’s a moment and an image at the very core of Christianity.
But the values upon which the nation was founded appear not only to be waning today, but under direct assault by politicians, pop culture, education and academia. "My heart was moved to think about that time when publicly and culturally we were not ashamed to invoke not only God, but invoke Jesus Christ." Said McFarland, "The historical record is that our country was founded by Christians on Christian principles. Our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, our advocacy for human rights around the world, the foundation of our faith in human rights, were birthed with Christian DNA. (Fox News) Read More

Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
Refrain
Glory to His name, glory to His name:
There to my heart was the blood applied;
Glory to His name!
I am so wondrously saved from sin,
Jesus so sweetly abides within;
There at the cross where He took me in;
Glory to His name!

Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin,
I am so glad I have entered in;
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean;
Glory to His name!

Come to this fountain so rich and sweet,
Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet;
Plunge in today, and be made complete;
Glory to His name!
